Are you aware that the "male" leagues already aren't gender exclusive? And giving a women's league equal funding to the LEC...league esports are already operating at a loss/barely profitable at best. You're asking Riot to burn a lot of money.
That could work in a situation like the NBA where they have the funding to bankroll the WNBA but what you're suggesting is quite honestly delusional. And again: there is no discrimination, the LEC or whatever other league isn't just for guys.
The 'male' leagues are. There was an experiment done in professional play where they gave 3 male players voice changers on their mics for one game to sound like women. They were constantly told how bad they were and their performance went downhill over the game as they were abused by their team to the point where one person playing as a woman said if they were female they just wouldnt play the game. When they did another game with the voice changers off their performance was way better and the team didn't complain once. Wasn't in EU if I recall but still. Riot can afford great big sets and venues and all but can't afford to put a custom HUD on a womens league? Budget isnt the whole story.
What does the behavior of individuals have to do with the league? Show me where in the LEC rules it says that only men are allowed to compete.
And if you think a league is just a custom HUD...lol.
The problem is this is the behaviour is across the entire scene; coaches won't sign women, teams will refuse to play with them... Does it not seem weird that half the population has basically zero presence in the players of esports teams? The only women you ever see are in the analysts booth. But we know there are lots of very skilled women in the league scene. My point is that wanton discrimination should have some kind of sanction attached, maybe similar to how jobs in real life can't discriminate against people because of race or gender legally.
I know its not just a HUD but the point is that they couldnt put the effort in for even that.
Because there's very little money involved. Take the WNBA for example. Wouldn't exist without the NBA funding it. The LEC just doesn't generate the profit to bankroll another league.
As for why there are no women in teams...you can think it's because of discrimination but good luck proving that. Again, there is nothing in the rules stopping a woman from playing in the LEC. By law, there is no discrimination.
There's simply also an issue that there just aren't many people in general with the skill level to compete in a Tier 1 league and only very, very few of those are women. It's just the truth.
There's G2 Hel who is actually competing in a regional league successfully (not tier 1 still) and that's pretty much it.
You are hoping that Riot spends millions to create a league that will burn money and won't even function as advertising because there'll be no viewers.
I would prefer not to argue in this thread; I am happy to take this into DMs or just leave it here. If it aint hurting people, I don't have a problem with it - the same goes for your opinion.
Just giving my opinion, I'm not against the idea...it's just unrealistic. But fair
Yeah in the Russian league
Weird story
They are creating a womens LEC. I just personally think if you look at some of the womans games (especially G2 Hel but there are others) there are some very strong players that might be nearing tier 1 level.
okay I'm sorry
but g2 is nowhere near tier one scene
these women are good players, but there's levels to this
They sometimes look a lot better than teams like the former RGE, or say dignitas in the US
man no they don't
they are competing vs master tier and sometimes gm tier players
and barely holding on vs that
Not saying they'd do amazing, just that its not like theres no skill in womans league
the playerbase aint big enough
I'm late but... if there are 1200 grandmaster~challenger players, we can all safely assume there's only about 1~10 who identify as actual women
the LoL pro scene which is male dominant is already struggling to find new talent in some regions. thinking about making a pro league that's women-only is just not reasonable at this point in time
