#Digital Challenge 4

Ja it’s darn hot
This is fairly hard to be honest I've a tough time coming up with shots for this chalenge, anyone else striggling with it?
So I keep shooting stuff against the sun
But then I think maybe I should go home and use something bright behind something
Definitely need to do some sunset stuff
ja one thing I struggle with is that in the city the sun vanishes behind the buildings quite quickly so the full backlit shots are tough to get unless it's "the entire skyline"
lets see if I've more luck today 😄
I have it done!
It's gonna be rly hard to win this one ngl
This isn't a contest
It's a challenge. To learn. No winning.
Oh
I couldn't contribute anyway
W. A crappy phone
Sure you can, Heinz even used a phone for the last challenge and put together some really great images.
It's impossible to win this, since there are no winners as Hakkaido pointed out 😄
Hmm
And yes a phone is perfectly fine, try to stick as close as you can to the restrictions of the challenge and shoot something backlight with it
the point is: everyone can participate in the challenges
Is the standard wide angle ~35mm?
idk what it is on your phone, probaly yes
also doesn't matter, shoot with what you got
I got a considerably better canon p&s but i don't have acses to it rn
If you can't match one of the limitations, try to get as close as you can with what you have, equipment isn't a deciding factor, it's about putting yourself out there trying to shoot a given assignment
I think what I'll do is to shoot this with a phone, than later with a proper camera when i have it
We have one every three weeks 🙂 so you'll have plenty of options
I'll do multiple of them
They are a good exercise to be honest, it pushes you out of your comfort zone and think about something specific
Nice!
That can happen
ja weather has to be right
Good news everyone it is time for another Digital Challenge. Before we go into the rules lets take a second to talk about the idea. Don't be surprised so, we overlap the challenges a week to balance keeping things moving and giving people time to finish.
I will just copy the intro over from the Analogue Challenge.
First, this is meant to challenge yourself, not your peers, there are no winners or losers, there are no better or worse outcome. We do this for learning, and fun, and to push ourselves out of our comfort zones.
We try to do this by defining limitations for the challenge as how you can shoot – it’s up to you to honor them if not the only person you’re cheating is yourself.
Challenges are randomly generated so no one knows how they will stack up, some of them will be odd (like this one as the random generator just tells me).
Limitations are set in 4 categories:
• Focal length (this is given a type of length not a mm number)
• Image type (color or monochrome)
• Orientation of the frame (if you shoot 6x6 this becomes irrelevant 😉)
• Theme (the theme of the focus)
Those are the same constraints as for the Analog challenge, there is one more to add here.
• As with a film camera you have to pick a film and commit to the look the same should be done here – This means you either use one camera preset and JPEG as a output (you can keep RAW for recording as much as you want :P), or you use a single preset for all the shots, that you decide upon for looks before you go out shooting.
• You can shoot at most 36 images; They must be shot consecutive (as in no other photos in-between)
• You have to commit to an ISO setting for the entire 36 shots.
• No editing.
This challenge will run three weeks so it will end on the 1st of August. Share the top 5 photos.
The limitations are as follows:
Theme: something backlit
Focal Length: standard (35mm - 75 mm FF equivalent) ||there is a minus between the 35mm and 75mm||
Image: any
Orientation: portrait
Note on focal length: It is not about the perfect technical match but about the spirit, if you don't have a lens that exactly matches the category, use the closest you got. It's about challenging yourself not about competing with others. You are not expected to buy gear to partake in the challenge, use what you have to follow the spirit of the rules.
I think Image and Orientation have to be reversed, right ?
No one yet? I’m intrigued, but to be honest I didn’t manage to get out either
To be honest, I keep forgetting about it. I'll take my camera with me on a walk tomorrow.
