#Vintage lenses adapted on digital cameras
824 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Sony a7 + Đ»ĐŸĐŒĐŸ T-43 40mm f/4
no hotshoe cover
wtf
get one
I do
might cop some older 85mm maybe
because I'm asking my dad if I could use the 85mm everytime I go out
unfortunate
unbased vintage lenses
I really like 85mm because of the compression
while having some separation
also easier to isolate the subject
how you liking the a7?
fr
I always have 4 batteries with me
I use Wasabi Power batteries in mine
get a new strap
Tempted to buy this adapter so I can put two OM lenses I have on my Sony https://fotodioxpro.com/products/om-sna-p
Not sure
Oh there's no focus peaking
yes there's magnification on a mode called "MF CHECK LV"
It's basically built for manual focus through live view
Hello all
I'm hoping someone might know what mount this is, thought it might be a K-mount, but not sure. Lens is Spiratone Plura-Coat 1:2.8 135mm
ahh dang, well I'll continue to look around, maybe something will pop up and give me some more clues
oh ok ill see if I can find something similar
ys mount possibly
Ill check that too thanks!
Takumar 50 1.4 is a W
Must have lens if you're shooting M42
Reminds me a lot of newer lenses in terms of design but it's probably older
I sold of couple of my lenses but dear god not selling the takumar 50 f1.4
Such a bang for your buck lens
Helios 44-2 zebra as well is a banger lens
Absolutely
Don't think I can find a YS mount adapter but someone said YS are based off of T, so getting a T mount should be fine ... hopefully
Very sharp
T is just a screw mount, YS is based of off T so you could make the lens interchangeable
Check if you can remove the mount possibly?
Dont see any screws that would just remove the mount
I did see a C/Y adaptor so maybe that?
The only screw I see that could be removable, I could unscrew those and see what happens, lol
@final patrol honestly then, no idea maybe try twisting off the mount? If that works I probably miss identified the mount
Well I'll give it a twist and see what happens lol Thanks again!
Nikkor 20mm-f2.8 AI on a Zfc
Needs focus peaking to work, but it takes nice images
Probably would be better off getting a Fuji
Is this the new NPC phrase?
Seeing a non-Fuji retro camera is like a trigger for âShouldve bought a Fujiâ
Itâs fucking bizarre
I could probably show off a literal SLR and someone would say âwhy didnât you buy a Fuji?â
Itâs a cult I swear
I knew it
Fuji is based I can't lie
Given the design influences itâs no surprise they didnât give it a grip
Thankfully, you can still add one
Sigma FP moment
idk if you can on the FP but you can on the FP L
nevermind you can on the FP
This Tokina 70-210 is marginally easier to use with the grip
Can be done either way though, just grab the lens adapter the way youâre supposed to
How are you finding it?
I've got an adaptall 70-210 and it is utter, utter garbage
Thinking of buying into PK adaption so I can spring for the Tokina, I've heard they're much better
Minolta 70-210 F4 >
Price?
Such a shame Minoltas a mount glass is such a shame to adapt to anything
Mine had fungus but I got it cleaned and it's now a staple of my digital lenses
Good semi low light tele
Fits in a cupholder
gonna check ebay now
Then you definitely can't afford a Sony digital or an a to e adapter
Is it the Minolta AF "beercan" you're referring to?
Found a slightly grubby one for ÂŁ37
I love it, itâs very easy to use and sharp for its age
She looks a lil thicc
I must admit im more leaning towards the tokina 4-5.6
It's got the same profile as the dog-tier tamron lens
which is really nice and small
I like having the constant f4.5, itâs helpful in lower light
Its a constant f4.5??
that's a new flavour on me
I shall do some reading
as we speak im making money moves to try and snatch up an atx criminally cheap
I've given up on trying to grab a Tamron 28-200 171a
too many adaptall collectors that hoover them up
What I'm tempted to look into is a prime to complement my CZJ 135mm
Very noice, liking.thr grading
I've been thinking about grabbing one of those since they're so cheap, but I just can't justify it when the pros of that tiny body are lost when adapting to mirrorless
Nice shot there
Thanks
Itâs definitely a tiny lens, and sadly no infinity on the Nikon but for close up itâs rather nice, often rivaling my nikkkor glass
Right now itâs on my ftb but is hard to focus unless wide open
My latest acquisition is a vivitar 28-80 macro for f Mount. That will go on my d700 for a macro project
At the end of the day manual focusing was done wide open, with the lens closing down to the selected aperture when it came to actually exposing. Focusing on the little viewfinder of my old D3200 was a struggle
Is that a series 1 vivitar? I know nothing about their lineup, but I've been tempted by the thought of a kit-like manual lens
its the RL line. But i also have an FD 28mm close up that i adore! cannot use it on my nikons though. FD doesnt play nice.
I avoided them when I was shooting Nikon for that reason- I ended up installing metal spacer rings in the rear of my Helios 44-M to get it to infinity focus
yep, thankfully i leave my infinity to my voigtlander and nikon glass. but excited to get the Vivitar.
looking forward to hear how ya get on with it
definitely will! taking up an old project i had, sadly my 90s 28-80 nikkor (amazing plastic kit lens) took a dive with my D700 one day. camera surived, lens did not.
not sure that lens qualifies as vintage though LOL. but anything over 5 years is "old" to some people LOL
Vintage is generally considered 20+ years old, so unfortunately that 90s lens of yours very much is vintage đ
You should be able to get vintage tags for your camera like you can with a car đ
Haa!! Then ALL my lenses but one are âvintageâ. đ€Ł
vivitar is in! glass is clean and metal lens cap screws in! lol
Which vivitar?
28-80mm 3.5/4.5 macro
need to do a lot of testing with it. i am sure it will work fine for my intended use on a tripod for macro though.
Excellent
gotta admit i like my Voigtlander more for nailing focus.
Thought I'd copy over the update from the analogue channel, Tokina arrived and it's in lovely external condition, inside though it's a bit of a mish mash of dust and fungus
Turns out it was a Canon mount, and the seller didn't know that you had to turn a ring to actually unlock the rear cap to remove it
Gonna shoot it as soon as my adapter arrives, then probably gonna dive-in and take it to bits to give it a full clean and service
Would rather it have been in PK but hey-ho
It died
Parly because I deemed it as such for being full of dust and fungus
Partly because whilst I was working on disassembling it I broke the focus ring, so it isn't exactly firmly stuck to the barrel
In a way I'm glad because I didn't like the look of the FD market for lenses, veeery limited compared to PK for someone who's on a budget like me
https://www.pentaxforums.com/userreviews/photax-paragon-135mm-f28.html I ended up reviewing the 135mm it came with
Photax-Paragon 135mm f2.8 reviews and specifications. Lens Composition: 5 elements in 4 groups
Minimum Focus: 1.77m/5ft 9.7in
Focusing Action: MF
f-sto. This is a Miscellaneous Prime lens.
It's... very bad, but I'm keeping it because I think it'd be fun to see what shooting the thing wide open/close to it would be like
What'd you shoot that at? that's lurvvvly
No you silly sausage, I meant the shooting parameters
I meant the f stop and suuuch
Now that I've got this Tammy I need to get out and do some more macro and nature shooting
Weather's been dreadful as of late though
Just checked the lens out, pricey fucker but produces the goods eh
Tiniest bit of ghosting but I'm assuming very little in the way of CAs since I can't find any artefacts of them
@soft garnet Do you know anything of the Tammy 104a 75-250mm f3.8-4.5?
Tried picking through online reviews of it, but people are back and forth as to its IQ compared to the 46a
The one flaw of this tammy, ho boi is hitting that narrow DOF in macro with even this dampened one-touch difficult
I'm gonna post some samples from that 46a once I'm in and have them edited, I'm really enjoying it
I've missed having a tele-zoom a lot, the fact this thing's a one-touch makes it hard to use though. Even when I'm at f8 using it for macro-style shots leaves you such a brutally thin DoF that using even the dampened one-touch mechanism is difficult
I quite like the soft character when its wide open, for ÂŁ18 I don't think I did bad at all, lens is basically as new and has a 3 month warranty, I think it was serviced before it found its way to me
I'd be tempted to try the 75-250, but it's over 200 grams heavier than this, and keeping a steady hand with my wee X-T20 is difficult as it is with this 600g lad
so i got my macro rails in for vivtar 28-80
my reuslts with the D700 have been hit and miss but i think that is more of a getting used to the setup more than the quality of the lens itself
What vivitar 28-80?
Nikon F mount 3-4.5 Macro
far from my finest work, but the lens did admirably
Those were all at f8, I did shoot some stuff at f5.6 but I can't remember which of them were bar one
Now I know that f8 is plenty sharp enough I'll experiment some more with 5.6, that sun wasn't forecast and days like that will be getting rarer now
"it's sharp"
Probably
If it was a digital mount lens then it would be a different story
The lens was a gift, but used itâs roughly $400
So, the cost is about equivalent
dont discount the nikkor series e lenses, i have the 100 2.8 and it rocks!
vivitar testing has been interesting, on a macro scale (1/4 macro) it has an almost angelic bokeh wide open.
As promised⊠$30 Vivitar on Nikon d700
Granted itâs a test shot but needed to drop out to f16 with a long exposure but it does look nice
LOL its a sculpture from the film âAlienâ.
Done with a Tokina 70-210 f4.5 on my D200
Yeah, wouldâve been
Iâll check the exif later and get back to you
It will, this has a control ring on the aperture that feeds data to the camera
Pushes a little switch on the body
In this case, no adapter needed
It wonât work on my mirrorless, because the FTZ canât read manual inputs
I should really start adapting to digital
I got some good M42 lenses I should borrow my dad's adapter to use
Another thread revive :b I took that picture with a Canon 50mm f/1.4 FD adapted to a Sony a6000 of my cat
I really should see if I can adapt it to a mount because I also have the 1.4
I found this on German ebay: https://www.ebay.de/itm/353393312340?mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=707-53477-19255-0&campid=5338328878&toolid=10029&customid=16669846877683559017912011000008005
Oh if it's Fotodiox then no problem
at least it claims to be Fotodiox :b
Doesn't surprise me that they made one
the website/offer doesn't state that it has a lens element
F2
It's a bit hard shooting wide open in daylight
But it looks really sharp
Yeah, my 1.8 in daylight basically needs shade or an ND
Idk what filter size my Helios is lol
I was able to stick a 49mm cap on it
wow d200 thats its own brand of vintage
only 30k on the shutter, still works like the day it was made
wasn't mine originally, my dad let me have it when he bought a D4S
really like my 20 AI-S, that one should also be nice
had to go digging for some that weren't landscapes
Nice!
@boreal notch first sample of a closer shot wide open, no edits from original raw
Helios 44M
renders color really nicely, easy edit from there
shallow enough to focus-frame the gauge
Probably one of my favorites
When you nail the focus wide open, the subject is sharp and the bokeh is very nice
why it look like LOG tho
LOG?
he did say these were raw images, SOOC
yeah, I just imported the raws with darktable and exported to jpg
they still look flat even if it's SOOC
Yes, raw files do that
on my a7 and R6 they don't look that flat
Ran a few edits
why you posting it here
idk
Because theyâre coming out of a vintage lens, presumably
And because youâve commented as to how flat they appear in a raw-file editor straight out of the camera
Needed a normal lens to complete the trio of manual primes, found a 50mm f1.4
wait you put a Nikkor on your CanonâŠ. hears earthquakes in distance
Nikanon or Canikon?
He attached a Canon to his Nikkor
@boreal notch tomorrow I'm gonna be also messing around with my Pentax 50 1.4, Pentax 135 3.5, and my hanimex 90-230 4.5
I'm of course bringing the Helios too
Do post when done
I absolutely will
Especially the hanimex will be interesting
@boreal notch I got some shots with the hanimex I didn't really do much with the other lenses
Like just now
I was busy doing other things
The build is solid
Focusing it is a bitch
Especially at 230mm
Since I have to zoom in to precisely focus but I have some pics that I'll import and share soon
some sundown spotting with my 180mm
Sweet
I have to use something called "check level mf" or something on my Sony
It uses live view and works decently
it's certainly a step over the modern budget stuff
4.5 is reasonably fast but I struggled getting a good exposure because the sun was starting to go down
yeah, i try to shoot my 4.5s in daylight for this reason
especially if i'm doing anything where stopping down is beneficial
I have to do full manual
My Sony doesn't like doing any sort of auto mode regardless of what the focus switch on the body is set to if there's no lens detected
Which gets tedious because I have to guess my exposure
does it meter for you?
bizarre that it wouldn't
that should be TTL regardless of the actual lens
can you program in a manual lens?
No lol
@boreal notch Hanimex 90-230
One of the sharpest shots I've done
No noise reduction because it turns the bricks to mush
not noisy enough to bother anyway tbh
focal length?
For that shot? I think it was 90 but you have to factor in crop too
Since it's a Sony APSC
Focus is pretty hit or miss with this lens in particular
Not as easy as the Helios
yeah, focus without an aid gets hard
i assume the camera doesn't talk to the lens at all
If I was doing it on a stable tripod it would probably be easier
nope
Since it's an M42 lens
shares just the mount, right
Yeah I guess
I'm gonna try my takumar 135mm tomorrow
This one's not bad
Just a bit blurry and noisy
hit focus, just needs a faster shutter
Yeah I'll try it more tomorrow when I get more daylight
F/4.5 isn't very wide
Focal MC auto 28mm 2.8
The adapter unfortunately is a 1.3x converter in order to work
So it looks more equivalent to a 50mm lol
Probably more
Though I have to say this lens looks quite sharp for something from Kmart
It's very good at close focusing
Nice narrow depth of field, seems like
somethjng to be said about the character of vintage glass. people spend lots of time tweaking images to look like what older glass gives right away!
I'm gonna be honest, this one lens is just a really good lens considering I got it from a free table
Wake up babe new vintage lens post
Love the background separation on the first photo
i keep looking at the AI micro and macro lenses for my Nikon.
The macro stuff interests me, itâs just expensive
I've got a 35mm 2.8 for Minolta that's probably between 60 and 70mm or something that I'm tempted to try
Since crop frame and the adapter being a 1.3x teleconverter
Not too slow even with the converter
Nah should be a fast lens
If I feel motivated enough to brave the cold I'll take some piccies today
It's a chilly wind
Snow is thankfully not here
Not here either, it's just absurdly windy and cold
the reds really work in here
great image
50 f1.4 AI, all the way open
depth of field is like a kiddy pool
The Voigtlanders seem really nice
They are the are
The bokeh is lovely
I've adapted a few, to varying results, the mamiya lenses on the fuji didn't go very well because of stacked adapters
but better on the nikon
this might be the 300 F5.6 and / or the 150 F4
Probably the 80mm 2.8 on the xpro or was it the 150?
Then I shot a whole summer vacation using only 2 cames and 1 lense on each, one of them was a vintage lens, but not adapted, but manual focus all the same, it was a 105mm F2.5
really is, totally worth the $400
i think vintage now adays is anything outside the 90âs lol Boy i feel old!
Lol
You guys like helios?
ive been thinking of picking up an m39 jupiter for my Leica. i love the m42 50-2
Oh yes, this is the thread for me
Haven't had much of a chance to utilize the Yashica yet so all 3 of these go on my a7 from time to time
Welcome to the club

@boreal notch More helios pics soon
Excellent
Lots of xmas lights bokeh
@boreal notch behold
Discord really compressed the shit out of it

58mm @ f/2
Add crop factor
Here's an unedited one
Probably oblong because of the swirly bokeh effect
Which honestly isn't nearly as pronounced as I'd like
I mean it looks decent lol
Here's one I took the other day
It was through a window
So it looks a touch odd
Gotta clean the sensor, but itâs a neat look
Clean the sensor?
Yeah
Zoom in on one of the balls, youâll see a speck of dust
If you have a dusty sensor or rear lens element, the dark spot will show up in defocus balls
It could be on the lens
I don't think I have dust on the sensor
Good results, though
im having a helluva time with my vivitar 28-80 macro. focus is excessively hit and miss close up
Colors came out well
Iâve sued my 180 AI-s for similar stuff, big time crop but itâs workable
@boreal notch I have an old vivitar 35-80 attached to my Sony via an MD mount adapter
Might take it out for a spin at some point
The 35-x lenses are neat, not a common zoom anymore
Not really
The vivitar one sucks
So I have a Minolta 35-70
Worked much better
@boreal notch more helios posting
the barrel distortion is actually pretty pleasing i think
Yeah
Minolta 35-70 3.5 at 1:4 macro
I have 2 Sigmas for my Sony that use 1:2
What's nice is the lens is 3.5 all the way through
3.5 used to be a default mid-fast aperture, i know Nikon did a lot with it
I'm finding an example pic of that 1:2
@boreal notch Here's a 1:2 with my Sigma 28-80
It's hard to get DOF right with it
Just learned the 35-70 has fungus growing in it
It's actually not noticeable enough in photos lol
Oh well, I wouldnât worry about it
Looks gods with it in there for sure
anyone have issues with old AI lenses connecting to new(er) nikons?
new being DSLRs in general, in this case a D700
Back with something different
what in the actual fuck is that
It's a lens off an old bell and Howell projector
Actually focuses pretty okay
what caliber is it? đ€Ł
You want a rifle?
sweet
50mm f1.4 AI on a Zfc/FTZ
just wish the zoo animals had actually been out during the light show
That is some gorgeous bokeh!
i've been really happy with it so far, it's just slightly asymmetric when off center and i like the effect
@boreal notch here's a half decent shot with the lens
The annoying thing I've found out is for starters the lens is insanely light hungry, hopefully I'll have some daylight after school
And there's fungus growing in all the elements and the lens is basically impossible to take apart from what I can tell
Good news is that the focus range is actually kinda good
This is all my dad's but it's a rare 53mm lens for the Argus C3
Hey all, so I just got an adapter for using vintage lenses on a Nikon DSLR body and so far I'm impressed with the results, I need to do extensive testing outside but so far I'm having lots of fun with these 70s prime lenses.
As expected, these only work in manual mode, however, as I don't know how to expose manually without the help of a photometer yet, I was trying to figure out how to set the ISO (maybe to a fixed 1/50 shutter speed?) automatically just so the exposure in the photographs looks the same as both the video and the preview, which are automatically exposed correctly. I tried turning on the ISO Auto settings in the ISO sensitivity tab with no results, ISO remains manual, I think. Does anyone know how can I do this?
Nope, only manual, every other mode says that there's no lens attached
It probably does have it, lemme check it out...
The D3 is a nice beast! i have both its siblings the D300 and D700
Nope, it doesn't seem like it does, there was a focus setting that seemed to be that but it changed nothing
I'll keep experimenting with the auto ISO setting, especially when it's dark out
Oh, so apparently only the D7000 range and higher allow for aperture priority when coupled to a manual lens after entering the lens specs, that's odd...
I'll see if there's a workaround with the ISO since for video the exposure is always right (and granted, the image gets noisy at low light conditions, as expected)
Alright managed to find a workaround, turning on the Manual Movie Settings tells me exactly what's going on while viewing the screen, it's limited to a shutter speed of 1/30 or slower but I'm fine with it as these lenses I have are quite fast
i love them both! hard to imagine parting with either. the D3 is a monster and worth it!
So far my favorite FD lens is the 135mm 2.8. Paired with my S5 IBIS itâs incredible! Why do you think?
Helios 44M-4 58mm F2 on Olympus E-M10 mk1 (without a proper adapter lmao)
Some samples - I'm a bit of a noob so please excuse the bad everything
They look pretty good for something this wacky
They do look a bit dark, could've just been the light outside
Yes
I have a handful of recent ish photos on my laptop I may post
But I didn't bring anything with me on this trip so I can't do anything new
@boreal notch wake up we're back to vintage lens posting
Is this another F mount Fuji DSLR?
We have an S1
Two of them actually
Cool
Ours were obviously used in a studio setting. Very worn out, label with settings on the back
I also have a flash grip and very well used SB-26 (or 25 I can't remember)
It's got a diffuser taped to it
@soft garnet some super tak 50 1.4 shots
Both are kinda eh
But the second one highlights how razor sharp this lens is
Here's one with a Chinon Auto 35mm F2.8
It's alright, I'm not a huge fan
Poor girl looks like you shot her dog in front of her
That's my sister
she was giving me her death glare
Yes. They've also been processed in LRC so they are edited
Have any of you used the Pentacon 50mm f1.8?
Oh wait you're talking about the one of my grandmother
Idk what happened there
Damn nice
No itâs the one of the girl holding the⊠cheese?
It's a rummikub tile
hoya
gx8 + super takumar 50 1.8
great lens
picture of it
too close for portraits imo
and this is with an original rokkor 45 1.8 on my xpro
dark af
dirty bokeh cause I was fishing
a good portrait lens for m43 is the sigma 30 1.4 native
Not bad
I'd like it more if it was brighter
scene had 1 lightsource
and it was at midnight
it's as bright as it'll get without it being noisy
the picture's properly exposed, the scene's not
Shot a couple weekends ago
Had the Nikkor AI 50/1.4 out for a walk
There is one yellow car in this town and I saw it on day one here
Anyone know what are some fast 25mm (or closeish to that) vintage lesnes
Hopefully more commonly found ones
I am planning that yes
Whatâs the name of the 25mm f2.8 pancake
and is there anything faster than 2.8 or not really
ah
the issue is the price
Yeah, lots of money to get 1 stop better than the kit lens (and yes I know there is differences beyond apperature and f lenght)
But the kit on the E-500 is actually really good
The reason Iâm looking for vintage glass here is
- I can get it for much cheaper and have a fast prime (even tho itâs mf only)
- I can also use it on my Zenit with film
Unfortunately, the pancake doesnât really do much for either of those
I'm aware
It is a very nice photo, especially as just a simple portrait for another person
Yeah fair enough, thatâs why I was askinf
I guess Iâll get a 50mm then and deal with the longer effective length when using it on a DSLR
not for cheap
fair enough , thanks
im mostly using adapted helios, often even as main lens cuz i just love it. And also i got pentacon 50/1.8 and Meyer 135mm f2.8 orestor tho sadly has jammed nd64 and nd1000 on it both, jammed after fall
Here is photos taken with a 35mm f2.8 vintage nikon lens that i adapted onto my d300s to get 50mm cuz of crop sensor
If you are looking for a budget 35mm for portrait photography this lens is amazing for around $130
personally i wouldnt consider 35mm a portrait lens but except that it seems pretty good
like, portrait lens is mostly 85mm
i wouldnt consider 35mm a portrait lens but lens for whole body in the frame etc why not but for purely portrait 35mm is way too distorted
the minimum i would consider portrait is 50mm imo w 85 being best (also 105 and max i would consider portrait would be prolly 135? i guess)
yea 35mm is my fav focal length too
i just love 35mm
We all do, dont we?
daily using as main 35mm 1.8 macro IS the new RF one
Damn
truly insane lens imo, for the money the image quality it produces is really perfect, more than you can ask for really
What makes this funny is that 35mm is literally just 50mm on a crop sensor. I took thise photos on my d300s so technically it is 50mm
oh then yea, 35 on crop i would consider wider portrait thats true
but not on fullframe, there its really way too wide
But 35mm on my full frame d3 not a chance. Wayyy tooo wide
i love 35mm on fullframe
Same
its perfect length imo for regular daily use
but not for just face portrait, that would be just true pain
isnt like 12-24 or just 24 better for astro?
Yes
i hate mine 12-24 sooo much
But if you dont have them then 35mm is pretty decent
the sigma EX one
its sooo trash photo quality wise imo, and also its broken bit
I now am the owner of a 170-500mm sigma lens
its 4.5-5.6 but no matter the focal length i cant get under 5.6 and maximum i get is f29 which gives lens error tho xdd
oh nice
Best lems for wildlife on a budget
No funding for that 70-200mm f2.8
Yes
The on for film bodies
Really nice, budget glass
best budget lens for wildlife at the moment is definitely the 100-400 5.6-8
True that
for rf
Come to tanzania and find it thoo
but i wouldnt buy it because of the aperture tbh
Imm so jealous of canon r users
w high mpx its alr imo
Im a nikon simp but the color reproduction on canon sensors is undefeated
tho 150-600 should be better
also i heard that sigma is gonna make new 150-600 BUT with rf mount and fixed pulse issue
according to some canon leaks site
Lol
if thats true, then GOD YES PLEASE
@ancient sandal read a nikon simp complment canon lol
Also this
potato simping for camera
Despite having begginer canon bodies like the 1000d and the 450d
and started digital with fuji when i was 7
I was also shooting film at 5
niiice
I started digital on the same camera i use today, the d300s
Man its such a good alrounder
If you told me to choose between a d300s or a d7500 im taking the d300s all day long
A lovely old camera
niiice
Yeah
I have a vivitar 200m f2.5 for M42 I got from a local guy but honestly I haven't been doing much in the hobbyist side of things
Yeah
Shit was pretty clean too
I haven't really had a chance to use it with anything
Afaik
dont think a 2.5 exists
I got an Asahi Takumar 200mm M42 mount earlier this week
very fun and smooth to use
yep
i use it on a Canon M50 mk2
[unedited] similar use i had for this magpie on a walk the other day
ive got a whole collection of M42 mounts, the takumar 200 was simply the most recent to join
i need advice
how to adapt to 5dmk2
I can get a 5dmk1 for like $50
5dmk2 for like $80 rn
and should I get mk2?
@soft garnet
why so
primarily M42 and Minolta's SR/MC/MD mount
For $30 more I'd say the mkii is definitely worth it
I say this as a weekly user of the 7dii
@half niche have you looked into a full-frame EOS 6D or 6Dii?
I've shot a lot of work on the mkii lol
These are just a few examples
Personally my biggest issue with it has to be noise, but I don't think that's going to be a problem for someone who wants to adapt M42 glass
Youâve cut off the tennis playerâs feet
How is she supposed to win matches with no soles
She's too good lol
Actually though, I think the yearbook version of this has it cropped to be horizontal so it stretches across the entire spread
Which in retrospect is much better than what I did
focusing noise?
still quite a bit better than APS-C tho, no?
The 7D is APS-C
anw the budget $50 5dmk1's off the table
cameras come and go like birds in spring in Facebook marketplace
This photo was taken using the Minolta beercan lens mounted on a Sony a7ii
And here's a Rolleiflex SL26 80mm on the same body. Note the starbursts from the metal reflections
Nah, this is just a cheap-ish adapter with a manual focus ring. I'll probably get the Sony adapter soon with auto focus for the Minolta
Hell yeah
Love the beercan
@soft garnet some more Helios 44M
That first shot is just
I've got like 3 more
I need to take one and give CLA a shot
Most of them are pretty stiff
@soft garnet on S1?
oh yeah
thats nice
man
I should finance an S5mk1

the tiniest amount of corner softness and barrel distortion
very nice! good to see a fellow S5 user adapting lenses! My all time favorite setup is the S5 with the Canon FD 135mm 2.8
This was taken with the FD 135mm at 2.8, Body is a Lumix S5
Love it! The blue is so pleasing!
The FD135 2.8 is not bad for portraits either!
Super-Takumar 55mm f2 adapted on Nikon d3
Images taken with this kit
Very cinematic
nice, love that lens
love OM mount, such cool lenses with cool form factors
some swear they're the best lenses you can get for film
Ah
F/8 looks pretty sharp
How do you like it ?
Nice
Example of what I found
Idk why but second one, it feels very comfy and interesting, nice even if not as sharp as anything new
Aye, I care more about characteristic of it like second photo
It just looks pleasing to my eyes idk why, it don't feel heavy or hurt as much as some new lenses
So because that Helios 44M-4 got modified for Nikon F bagnet then it won't have worse quality of image as it would have with M42 adapter ?
I don't mean only colors or something, that sharpness feeling like it feels kind of light for my eyes, don't know how to call it
You also have that while looking at these and some modern lens photos ?
Maybe that's why some like vintage lenses
not overly sharp or not heavy for eyes but still nice
@soft garnet what about exposure metering or choosing iso and such stuff and can I edit it normally if I shoot RAW ?
So it should work normally if I use ap ?
no need for manual or what ?
a
so i just have to focus and change aperture through lens rings ?
Nice
So that's it
Oh
Looks nice and sharp enough for me
it have that something, how much edited ?
sure
so how did you like this lens ?
lol you got something flying in background haha
aye
will see in a while, must turn on my laptop
damn
ye
f/1.4 ?
My edit so it looks more vintageish, I suck lmao
lol
zamn
have you seen my other photos ?
So I guess I will buy this lens, idk why but it makes me print images more than my Sigma 17-50 unless it's about sharpness or something else
so check out, have fun while I go eat
aye
Zone focus, right ?
@soft garnet
Yeah, was it faster and more accurate than af ?
@soft garnet shot at F/2 with Helios ? Looks sharp enough and pretty characteristic
Ah
Would you recommend Helios on D5200 for events and portraits and more "semi pro" photography ?
@soft garnet or is it not good idea and just use my Sigma 17-50 instead switching it sometimes ?
What the fuck lmaoooo
Ah... So it's not worth buying for something like 64 EUR ? I don't work as photographer for now, maybe randomly someone asked me for photo few times but that's all
@soft garnet also why 5D costs like 200 EUR in Polandia wtf
So should I buy that Helios or I will just waste money ?
I don't think so

NIKON - Helios 44M-4 58mm f / 2
Manual lens modified for Nikon digital SLR cameras, fits all DX and FX models, can also be attached via FTZ adapter for Nikon Z cameras.
The conversion does not interfere with the lens optics, it is safe for cameras, thanks to the conversion, the lens has a full range of blades up to infinity and does not require the use of adapters with a lens that spoil the optical properties of the lens.
The lens has been selected in terms of sharpness and obtaining the best optical quality. Throughout all these years, I am able to select the appropriate model and I do not issue weak models.
PHOTO SEVEN - The Second Life of the Lens
Modifications and adaptation to Nikon cameras is performed professionally and accurately, I also perform the service of reworking many models of 28mm, 35mm, 135mm, 200mm and Helios lenses.
