Standard for F1 drivers is far higher than the standard for fighter pilots

As far as human endeavor goes, the F1 is pretty interesting

There are 20 first-string F1 drivers in the world

Add in reserves/recent veterans and you have 50-75 people who could hop into an F1 car and drive it to an effective standard on short notice

Most sources I can find say that the USAF has 4000-4500 active-duty fighter pilots

It is much, much easier to become a fighter jock than an F1 driver

Except no one pays for you to become an f1 driver, you already have to be rich and established in driving, the usaf will take anyone smart and capable of doing it and train them

If the opportunity to become an f1 driver was equal to becoming a fighter pilot
