#Lounge but it’s New York

Consider changing it up so that you can hit that spot in better light?
at the moment i have no idea what the hell i want to do
Fair
So sweet to me
I've actually got exciting/big news for off topics
Please share
went out to photograph, came home then spontaneously went to the met again today. it's nice that the met is open late.
Bad light all day outside for wildlife 🤔
Aurora tonight? Anyone gonna try to shoot the city?
Is there??
looks like it will happen around 1am or so. i'll probably be asleep.
Ahhh damn
and def not guaranteed for us. we are on the edge of it.
Is there a website I can see like a map of it
Also I thought this came out so cool, (handheld at 400mm 🤯)
Damn not great
looks like 10pm to 4am: https://abc7ny.com/post/geomagnetic-storm-could-make-northern-lights-aurora-borealis-visible-southern-us-nyc-tonight/18434648/
@ me if anyone sees
I went to sleep 😴
Wildlife videography is neat
its so incredibly cold today
tried to go out for pictures and went right back inside
i was freezing by the riverfront yesterday
it's going to be colder this weekend too
Literally same lol
ya this week is fucked
about to go up to vermont
its about to be sub zero
but hopefully i get some dope pics
i might just say fuck it and drive up to canada
do you guys know if i need to have my passport to cross the boarder?
Only to get back in
Actually it might be both
But definitely need it
if i remember you just need some ID going there, need passport coming back
might as well just use passport for both
Ye
I mean I’d assume my New Jersey drivers license would be enough 😂
And the Jersey plates on my car
But yes
I will have my passport
well looks like i'll be photographing a snowstorm this weekend. i hope it snows a lot.
Me too!
i think i'm gonna go see montreal this weekend
and it seems like their chamera gear is cheaper
so might do some shopping there
me too lol, im very excited!!
We should meet again but do wildlife photography
ya that would be awesome actually
a birding day at central park during the spring migration
Yup
totally, who can lend me a 600pf
Hi I am new york
hi new york
Anyone going out in "feels like" -5?
not today. i'm going out tomorrow and i'm resting today.
just gonna edit some backlogs

The Adirondacks are killing me.
It hasn't gotten any better all day either
I'm out in the snow on and off today doing bird videography heh
Has anyone been out today?
Cool pic
yea i was out yesterday but didn't get a cool shot like this
meanwhile, if you live in ny, and have the ppa insurance, this sentence on the website is inaccurate. i just called to confirm that i am indeed covered by the ppa equipment insurance.
Hey
I could do march most likely
Heyyy
Love that gif
I'll be gone in February anyways so my vote is March
this is jersey
but
if anyone is interested a "garage sale"
at unique photo in fairfield. most likely will just be used gear. never been to it but i'll go this year and see how good the deals are
if i only had money
This weather is slaying me
its real bad
I don't even want to go out to film birds in this
i'm actually gonna go to this just for funs
maybe there will be some cheapo vintage stuff
Anyone going to the dog show tomorrow?
i got tikets for 35 a few months ago, idont know what they are now or if there are any
some photos i got during the storm: #🖼・photo-sharing message
what is the best camera and why is it the zf?
lmao
Nice pics iser
Here’s my unique photo haul
Little over $100 for the lot
The garage sale thing was actually really cool, they had a ton of SLRs in various conditions all for like 10-40 dollars
Plus lots of old super 8 and camcorders etc.
And of course T3 and such
oh my god
wouldnt the camera stop working?
i would be scared to put my camera through that after paying so much for it
it's weather sealed
finally a little warm today
gonna take off work a little early today to photograph
and then it's gonna be freezing again this weekend.
I'm down south this week, it's much warmer here I think
Guys
where should i go to take photos with my new camera
I was thinking the park but i dont think anybody gonna be there
yea but im tryna lowkey
i was thinking forest park but idk if they cleaned the snow there
throw some boots on and send it

what area are you based out of?
Richmond hill
I’m actually on my way to forest park rn
awesome, looks like a nice forest area. i should check it out sometime.
what camera did you get?
yea try the lens out and see how it goes
personally, i really liked my zfc kit lens. got a lot of decent photos out of that lens.
ah shit
It ver cold
I’m confused though it’s only 10 degrees
It was -1 a week ago and no one batted an eye
wind chill
supposedly, it's going to be super windy
and when that gets magnified by the wind tunnels, it's going to hit hard
it's going to feel more like -15
astoria real feel -14f. i'm staying home like an indoor cat.
Haha jokes on your I'm down south
les -21 and my camera just died lol
i did not step a foot outside yesterday
i had a wedding at night, nearly didnt make it walking to my car 30 feet from the door
i think weather is going to get warmer in the next few weeks
im looking and i think its going to go up to the 40's possibly 50s
I'm back :3
The video I've been shooting looks so good that I'm all but convinced that I should always shoot video and just pull stills from it
whats up
It relates to what i was talking about earlier, with the new forum i made about taking photos of cameras in cool locations
im sure i saw you earlier in the chats, when i was talking about it..
it is in a way, ill admit
What i was thinking of is: New york has a lot of cool buildings
i cant get out there myself, sadly. Political situation and such
but id love to see a photo from the top of one of the skyscrapers of a camera, if anyone would be up to that. No pressure, obviously
neither do i tbh, thats why i think itd be fun to do that
figuring out a way to frame it and make a very unique photo
as someone that works in advertising, i'm looking at it from that angle
youre tyring to show off a camera in this case
haveing a cityscape as a backdrop is distracting in a way
yeah
Its a hard one to balance
itd be a cool shot, but yeah, itd be distracting.. balancing that would be a pain
Yeah, kinda like that
but this vibe
more like that first one than the second
@digital horizon could do something like this i think
if you have a photo example, show one so i can better understand
does not have to be yours
I can give an example of one, but not in a city
ye send it
This is the kinda idea im going for. Camera facing the photographer, with the background showing the place its in
Such as a cityscape, like in New York
gotcha
This photo is just of the camera sitting on top of my camera bag
But it gets the point across
ill get a more unique one eventually
people do this a lot with lego figures
"__ around the world"
cosina around the world
I think thats where i got my inspiration tbh, that same idea
isnt that kitchen in spanish?
idk tbh
autocorrect got me
no, it isnt
never heard of it
@elfin zodiac!
Sorry, calling in someone more experienced with these kind of cameras than me
yeah, its a film camera
They did a lot of work with Nikon, Canon, Olympus etc
Canon T60, Nikon FM-10, both Cosina's bodies
heres a list of ones based on the same line as cameras of mine, if you wanna go google any of em
but no correlation
Some people say the Yashica FX-3 is a cosina CT-1 series body, but it isnt
its different
its still based on a Cosina body, just not the CT-1 series
fair enough
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epson_R-D1
Fun Fact: Cosina helped with this thing!
Sorry, just remembered that
ill stop with the gear stuff
all good
Me: clicks on “Lounge but it’s New York “
Lounge but it’s New York: talking bout Spanish things
QUE LO QUE PAPI?
Well I hear more English people there
"mostly" is quite the overstatement
the weather looks okay on saturday. at least compared to what we've been experiencing.
oh the forecasts differ. one is saying partly sunny. another is saying snow.
if its anything like its been today and yesterday
i'd come
partly cloudy
but i cant tell if i need my coat or not
Owwwwww forget about itttt
some of us are going to head to flushing tomorrow to photograph the lunar new year parade if anyone wants to join us: https://www.nycforfree.co/events/flushing-lunar-new-year-parade
See you there!
@buoyant shore you coming?
Ye see yall tomorrow
@void bane @junior dune Any chance y'all can make it?
i got work today unfortunately
Ahhh damn can you still come
Yeeeeeeee I assume parking will be better there
rather than trying to take a train from nj to flushing
not sure about parking. it's a parade day. not sure how the streets will look
I don’t mind parking a bit far
Yeah I'm driving too might have to walk for parking
i'm leaving astoria at 10am, if you can make it here. you can park it here, and we can travel to flushing together.
though it's abotu 45 min to flushing from here, so it's not a quick trip
I’ll try to get close to the parade
Will take me an hour to drive into flushing
I would not make it by 10 in Astoria I don’t think
Maybe, let me get rollin either way
If one of you can drop your location on insta I’ll find yall
Or I’ll hit the gc once I’m there
I'm leaving now imma eat something before, see y'all!
I won't be there but sounds fun
Had I known 4 days ago I would've gotten a hotel and gone down
I don't know why I just learnt that you can actually transfer the "creative look" on my Sony camera to the raws in Lightroom (haven't tried with other brands) I thought it only works in jpeg, this is the before and after (I did zero editing yet)
damn that's nice
yup its a lightroom feature mostly i think
I wonder, can u do the same with Fuji recipes?
@void bane ?
Gotcha
Cool, so you can shoot raw and add the recipe to it in Lightroom?
yes
Now it's got me curious if it's technically like a preset in LR if I can add it to my Sony photos and play around lmaoo
nah its like a profile
well, it is technically like a preset in many ways
but just like, restricted access
its weird
i dont think you would be able to do that without some data mining
Awesome shots
Tried a new editing style, so feedback is appreciated, is the edit too much
Thanks mate!
v nice
Not in the city, but thanks!
EYY AM WALKING HERE
Walkin' ***
Good luck with the storm
ITS SNOWING YAYYYYY
I MISSED THE LAST STORM I FINALLY GET TO TAKE SNOWY NYC PICTURES
ugh, it's not sticking yet
hopefully the snow will still be ongoing tomorrow morning when its still bright
Don’t forget to clean cars periodically!
it feels like the snow is melting as soon as it hits the ground
i was planning on not leaving my home till it all just melts in 3-4 weeks
then we get a third winter storm end of march
1-2 months
i was out for about 3 hours. hopefully i got some decent shots. hopefully i did'nt miss focus.
ooh the snow be stackinnn
CAN YOU DIG IT
what a fantastic movie I should rewatch
It’s fucked
You musttt
everything is so wet my toes are wet my shoes are wet the road is wet
I wanted to take photos today but literally couldn't get my car out
How's the snow down there anyway
we have a clear sky right now the mountains are saving us
The snow must be pretty bad for yall
My mom shoveled the driveway and we used my dog as reference 😭😂
No banana for scale?
Unfortunately
It's insane lol
Thank got for the high peaks region
this is why i wore my waterproof gore-tex boots with snow gaiters today
Quite a small driveway compared to my area
Idk it fits a car, what more do you need 🤷♂️
A lot of ppl in NYC don't have driveways :)
Are you even a new Yorker if you didn't watch this movie
GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE OWWW
Yeah because they have parkways
Duh
need to do photography exhibition in ny asap
Come to lake placid I'll help organize
sheeeshh i wish sucks u ain't my manager there

We're back with another salon style photo show at The Greenpoint Gallery. If you've been to the past ones, you know that it's the place to be to show your photos, meet other artists, and have a great time.
As always, we'll have 8 bands, 2 floors of photography for viewing, and a great time.
A secret judge will announce at midnight the winner o...
I would love to see you guys at Greenpoint!
yea i'll be there
Sheesh i wish i could
also, there is a photo walk in astoria this sunday: https://www.instagram.com/p/DVJwLeSie75/
Join us this Sunday, March 1st, for a long stroll through Astoria! We’ll walk down 30th Ave, 30th Rd and 30th Dr then make our way to the waterfront at Socrates Sculpture Park, check out the Welling Court Murals, explore Astoria Park and end at the Bohemian Hall and Beer Garden for food, drinks and mingling to end the evening.
Meet at Athens ...
this is the neighborhood i live in. if enough people come, we could have a small party at my place afterwards.
I'm gonna try to get a weekend or something down In the city this summer
oh for some reason i thought this was a 2pm
ohhh
i'm getting these two things mixed up
i see
yea friday night thing is from 8pm to midnight. not sure if i'll stay until midnight though. i'm old and i like going to sleep early now.
i'll drink to that
the new york churro money laundering front
this is the Manhattan one
you are in nyc?
Oh shit
Where is that at?
Oh wait that's east village
Well I'd technically call that lower east side but I'll allow the discrepancy
Yeah. i live in queens.
Well same thing its just across the river
People actually go to that
Must just be tourists
Nfw locals be going to el churro
id do it for the shits
Waste of money
ah didn't know that. you should join us for a photowalk some time
When i have the time totes
i am on the shyer side though
@buoyant shore and i are nice.

i was also reading that word as this kind of shire
and i was confused

took me a second
I am SO
SO
DUMB.
💀
I was absolutely not paying attention

Damn I guess I'm not 😂
you are a menace

jk nate is a very nice person
we all are
meanwhile
i have a free ticket for tomorrow's rangers vs pens game if anyone wants it: https://www.ticketmaster.com/new-york-rangers-vs-pittsburgh-penguins-new-york-new-york-02-28-2026/event/3B0062F0AC231687
let me know
i fucking hate the rangers right now and i don't want to step inside that fucking rink again this season
i rather give my ticket away than watch the team play
LMAO
my seat is in the chase bridge section. one of the best views for hockey at msg. so let me know if anyone wants it.
Damn I would take it but I have like literally zero interest in sports
So apparently I'm working on a short film now.
where's this
Congratulations
so nice out
if you go there u can try any lens you want on ur camera
i havent checked this chat in a while lol sorry
all good
apparently it costs $20 to enter central park dude this city is such a joke. paid it bc I’d never been, but disappointed. dude wasn’t even wearing a uniform.
someone got scammed on the street
oh, maybe that's what you are pointing out already
yeah lmfao
some people are just so naive
it's way too hot for a jacket outside.
so nice
idk guys i feel like we may dodge third winter this year
it's supposed to drop below freezing in 9 days'
fuck
@civic girder
this chat is here
if you ever need anything local
& speaking of local
anyone here know of any open studio space?
i know of a few payed ones
I don’t know any open ones. I’ve never ever heard of free studios. Maybe in like one of those portrait events?
Also hiiii
wsg wsg
yerr
Weren't you here years ago
Im sure you did touch ups for magazines or something
Yeee, still do
hows life been?
Pretty good, can’t complain but still do
How about you
about the same lmfao
Im just waiting for the inevitable society collapse ngl. I am doing suspiciously well at work which is like the opposite of what I keep hearing is going to happen? Lmao.
hey lasha and i are going to this tomrorow: https://www.meetup.com/takeaphotowalknyc/events/313326275/
enjoy
Put my work in some NY galerie n i will buy you a slice
i just might
canal street is a war zone man
0 elevators
had to help this poor nainai down the stairs
like 3 flights
the weather is much nicer now. we should have a photowalk soon.
going to the yankee game this weekend
so i'l be by the stadium
can go early before the game
the games at 7
will be at the bars there at least
I would definitely be interested to join y'all now that the weather is getting nicer
yea the weather looks nice on saturday as long as it doesn't rain. i'm up for meeting this saturday
Got some beautiful things today
Can’t denoise anything yet but let me send rq
😅
I just checked your earlier msg. Def see wym by lacking wow factor
None are denoised/editedo at all yet
am I crazy or do none of those need denoise
maybe the musician but i wouldn't call that unacceptable
I like your eye but you should get more comfortable with photographing people's faces on the street
and get closer
looking closer maybe the last one
but eh what's wrong with a little noise
I like that framing a lot
and that sculpture
agreed don't worry about noise. i didn't notice at all.
and yea, photograph the face. the back is not as interesting as the face, especially the eyes. at this point, i rarely photogrpah people's backs, or at least i try my best not to.
i truly wish i didn't get the back for this shot. this is just the shot i was able to get. but i would absolutely prefer her to face the front, looking towards the ladder, so there is a connection between the red ladder and the woman.
this could've been a portfolio shot, but it's not. bc i photographed her back.
mm
cool
i would prefer uncropped but then there's a little too much negative space on the right
this crop kinda works
Yea my dad told me watch out haha
Might not
Thank you
Thank you
Good to know
That’s sick
i like this
black and white perhaps worth a shot?
hi
👋
🫡
welcome
Welcome!
hi
welcome again
we'll alll do a walk again soon™
i cant this month
busy
but soon
Hello! The weather report said 50°. It’s 20ish right now up in Rochester with gray skies
Seeing specks of snow is not usual for me
Why is garbage plate a thing here
It’s like all of the drunk food left overs in a takeout box
mmmmm
everything deep fried and from a fast food joint on one plate
Ive seen pictures, and it’s like a Jackson Pollock in food form
Did get to see this. Very nice!
It’s Corning!
where does everyone live
I'm in Nassau :)
move to the cityyyy
anybody have like
job openings i could get
lmfao
i got fired for failing to meet a quota recently
where were you working?
& what kind of job you looking for
street fundraising for planned parenthood
something creative, or something in food service (barista/serving/bussing/barback/maintenance/custodial), or something that's humanitarian
i do not have a degree...
all good
you've tried local restourants already?
i do have a friend who's a chef, i can ask him if he knows anything
other then that
thought about full sending photoraphy? making it a business?
i know thats not as imidiate
but
could be worth it
Sometimes I go to the city for work like once a month it doesn't pay to reverse commute to LI
My next job will prob be in NYC eventually so I'd prob move then to the city
i want something full-time that yields me $35,000 at least a year. not contract-based
ive asked at many coffeeshops, restaurants, art supply stores, record stores, gift shops, retail etc
i apply to many many jobs
yeeee i hear ya
so youre looking for something stable
will lyk if i see anything
ty 🥺
& ya, you should be able to make more then that working full time in new york
i have disability/welfare, and iirc something that also allows me to not lose it
so i dint need somehing that pays crazy
really i just can't do sales
or somethign too physical
gotcha
i worked in sales too
sales sucks
noone wants the shit the job forces you to sell
and just feels shitty
at least it did for me
could also look into hotels/apartments front desk jobs if you have not already. welcoming ppl in telling them where to go
plenty of hotels in the city
apartments with front desk should be too, at least theres a lot now in jersey, they've been building them alllll over the place
i care about planned parenthood stuff and when i got fired i was bawling
maybe check back with them, a non sales position's gotta exist
I was gonna do a job like doing photography but I had to sell my work basically (doing newborns at a hospital) and I said no because of that
would have been nice if they offered that instead
like you had to tell mothers "100 bucks for your newborn pic"
something like that?
Yeah basically 😭
Like the job was "take photos, then try to sell them the photos" I was straight up like I don't like that in the interview 😭
I'm sure, I don't like that as a practice tho, kinda scummy imo
yee
unrelated, you posted the pics from the dumbo walk?
howd those portraits come out
of the girl
Honestly I didn't really take many, I'll post the photos of the girl tho it came out decent
nice
Yeaa I agree
Gg
Literally the job I was talking about earlier
they don't want eldritch voids for baby photograohy
id do that job and i should, but only if its full time and stable.
the downside is theres... no creativity?
oh this is a while ago. i was gonna say "i understand! i'm happy to learn and pivot into newborn photography, if you'd take me on for a few weeks to show me the ropes i'm a quick leraner"
something like that
ohhh shit
Maybe real estate photography? Not sure how u get into that but lots of apartments in NYC obv
get in touch with realtors
using a 28mm prime
3650 cam tbh
Nah like how you get the jobs
to make everything look more soatious haha
360*
spam all realtors in your area
^ sounds like the move
im lowkey against intellectual property but also recognize we have to make money off our fuckin art
👀
surreal lighting type beat
share
Love black and white stuff
august 2025
prty new
oh thats cool
ye
some portraits i did
ye
relativly ez to get gigs. student graduations, couples, engagments leads to weddings leads to big money
but freelance work as an amateur is not what i want rn
understandable
its on my resume tho
goodgood
i am always down to do freelance work on the side tho
but i want something that lets me afford my place
anyway all photographers know the best way to make money in photography is by selling your gear
my gear probably amounts to $300-$500 max
canon a-1
3 prime lenses (only two being first party)
a couple third party zooms
cokin filters
tripod
a 3rd party swivel auto flash with a canon module for it
no
unless u count me using a shitty old point n shoot webcam/digital canera hybrid thing
lmfao
and game boy camera
i needa get a roll developed from my point n shoot
i keep that in my bag just for why not
I just shoot for fun :)
same i shoot for art and sometimes for a friend
yee based
shooting for work gets annoying
mostly the editing bit tbh
the shooting part is always fun
i imagine if i did try and make money off it, it would be less fun for me
i shot a couple things for a local paper which i got paid almost literal air
but that was just for fun
the part that is not fun is marketing and managing a business. art oriented ppl are not famoous for enjoying that
yea its weird makes total sense
i dont really think of myself as an artsy kinda person
not to brag but almost all my photos are not edited
ya and dealig with clout chasers in creative scenes
i also dont really have a style either
i just shoot photos and edit them idk lol
its perfectly ok to have influences but let them seep in naturally
yea i more like to see the ideas behind the shots
like how ppl compose stuff or how they use lighting and gear etc
ill be in back europe in a few weeks time so ill be able to have time to really go shoot
ooo
W
good luck
I lowkey have a job interview in an hour videoing sports games, any questions I should ask?
ask if u can record with ur nintendo 3DS
Wth why are there so many ppl in this interview this is so weird 😭
Sus
groupterviews suck

we met a guy on the last walk we did from ohio or someplace like that
its much more legal out ther e
aperantly
I just had a garbage plate
Dunno how I feel about meat sauce over mac. It’s like a chili mac but no chili?
brat summer 2026 on the way 🖤
Anyone wanna meet up in central park today for the cherry blossoms?
i would have but i'm in london right now
Ooooo I'll be there in 3 weeks
Have fun
Some photos I took today at central park!
sweet
@vital obsidian here is where folks around new york chat. we get together and go on photowalks. we should have one soon.
Do you guys ever just follow someone around like paparazzi on these walks?
no. that's creepy.
i'm busy this weekend, but i'm likely free next weekend.
anyone else free on sat may 2nd or sun may 3rd?
The weather now is kinda shit, might want to wait
If the weather gets better I should be available
oh yea the weather looks pretty bad this weekend anyway. let me know who else is interested next weekend.

I'm finally back in nyc. Just landed at jfk. this was a pretty packed trip for me. I've missed nyc and home.
Hello new friends
Ahoyyyy
hi there
Is that one grave basquiat
i know this is still a bit out, so i don't know what the weather will actually be next weekend, but how does meeting up on sat may 2nd in the afternoon work with you all? leave a thumbs up if you can attend. also, any requests on where to photograph?
for me, no fidi, no chinatown, and no central park. i wanna go somewhere different.
I'm not sure I can go to that one would love to do photo walk.
Also I can't believe these still exist. I always heard of them like an urban legend
that one looksto actually be functional tho
where was that one?
In an old school Spanish restaurant
this one is that
100/10 i recc this spot
spicy honey za is peak
& its not spicy at all tbh
Ok I will check it out
In Newark
How are those cigar prices lowest is 32
Cohiba isn't that those good cuban ones
I bought some Newports few months ago and it was 15. I legit remember when packs were like 5-6 usd it's ridiculous
Newport’s for 15 is too much you can get em for like 12 in anywhere else
I was forced to buy it for a homeless dude
Either camels or channel my jaoquin pheonix organic/vegan American spirits for me
Smh no China Town
but it's so convenient. i live right there.
Do they allow photography in the nature museum? idk much about new York places
Dumbo is fun. Can't go anywhere id get shanked for looking like a lost puppy though

i get in trouble with my Partner
no dumbo either. i'm sick of dumbo and our last photowalk was in dumbo.
May I suggest times sq?
Gross (no offense)
It's jokes 🙂

if I don't get my camera repaired and returned by Saturday, I'm just gonna buy another camera
btw looks like a little bit of rain in the morning on Saturday but seems like the afternoon is clear. also we are still bit too far out for a reliable forecast so let's see how it goes.
the Zf?? what happen
What happened to it
check this post, and see the post i replied to: #🐒・gear-discussion message
Oh no 😭
That sucks
My z30 broke on my second day using it lol it had a warranty from the reseller tho luckily
What r you going to get if it doesn't get repaired soon?
if it doesn't come back by wednesday or so, i'm just going to buy another zf
one is none and two is one
i want a backup zf
Lol fair enough
Peace of mind of having 2 of the same body would be amazing once it gets repaired ofc
alright, so a photowalk this saturday may 2nd in manhattan from 3pm to 8pm + dinner. leave a thumbs up if you are coming, so i know for sure.
Lemme check to make sure i have nothing on Saturday for sure but will prob be going
Will confirm later today
@buoyant shore @void bane @sudden comet @austere sierra
i got a client on saturday, just have to set a time with her, but most likely i'll be busy for the day
i'll skip this one
booooo
Working this weekend sorry guys!
boooooooo
Where is the meeting point?
dunno yet. here are some suggestions from ai: #1407479319038525576 message
Honestly not sure, if you get more ppl I'll consider it
I will be in London
we should have at least 2-3 more folks joining us who are not from photography lounge. (ian, sarah and tian. some of you folks know them).
What if I bring cookies Y'all. Does that sweeten the pot
i do looooove cookies
i have a friend that can't have dairy
My plan is to caramelize coconut cream with sugar and then get a sweetened vanilla soy milk aaaaand some secret third kind of milk. Maybe like an oat milk.
And then make some vegan whipped cream with a dairy free and super fluffy crumb cake
Poke it full of holes. Get it SOPPING. Soppppingly moiiiiist. Laden with liquid. Sloshy. Soppy.
Then top with the whipped cream and strabbies!!

But I need to test the recipe before the friend shows up in May
wow i want some vegan goodies 🥺
Awwwwwww well i guess the cake is technically vegetarian but
i can make vegan cookies to bring
Oh haha yeah

It's technically the egg that makes it not vegan
i may be on an other photoshoot
Oops ADHD. This Saturday i have a tentative invite to a photoshoot for a bdsm club zine
Which unfortunately takes precedence over this since building those communities is kind of my job.
But if it falls through id still be available
Also depending on timing
i could still show up for like half of this and bring cookies and snacks.

Might bring a photography Friend
Wowow you make monies through photography 😮
so the weather looks a little better on sunday. @vital obsidian are you around on sunday? also, if we move it to sunday, are there any more people that could join?
May not be..neeed to check
we can just do saturday. i don't want to do a last minute change, but it may rain during sunset
Should i
Bring a plastic bag and wrap my camera in it
So i can keep shooting like a pro

is @vital obsidian the only one attending from PL? also, i have 2-3 more people from another group too, so we'll have more than just the two of us.
the weather looks pretty ugly on saturday in general, and it keeps getting worse. i've posed to my photowalk group to maybe switch to indoors and have a museum day. the met or amnh or any other suggestions.
I still have finals but i'll be around in like two weeks
this could be good, but it's not free.
🏛️ 3:00 – 4:00pm · Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum
- 2 E 91st St (between 5th & Madison)
- Inside the Andrew Carnegie Mansion (1902). The building is the photo — Gilded Age oak paneling, carved ceilings, original conservatory, the great staircase. Modern design exhibits live in the restored rooms.
- No flash. Handheld OK.
- One hour is enough — focus on the architecture, not the exhibits.
- Admission: $22
** 🏛️ 4:00 – 5:30pm · The Guggenheim**
- 1071 5th Ave at 89th St — walk 2 blocks south
- Frank Lloyd Wright's spiral rotunda. One of the most photographed interiors in NYC.
- Shoot strategy: elevator to the top, walk down the ramp, shoot across the void at every level. Close with the looking-up-the-spiral shot from the ground floor.
- Admission: $30.
🏛️ 5:45 – 8:00pm · The Met
- 1000 5th Ave at 82nd St — walk 7 blocks south on 5th Ave (~10 min)
- Open until 9pm Saturdays
- Hit list in order:
- Great Hall — entrance arches, second-floor balcony for the signature angle
- Temple of Dendur — slanted glass wall with rain on it = the shot of the day
- Astor Court — Chinese scholar's garden under glass; rain on the roof is exactly what this room was designed for
- American Wing — Engelhard Court — atrium tree + classical sculptures
- Arms & Armor — knights on horseback if there's time
- Admission: $30 (NY residents pay-what-you-wish with ID — $1 minimum, bring cash)

That sounds super fun
i know a Claude list when i see one

heh, yea, i use my own personal assitant for everything. and yea it's built and optimized for claude. you can use other models with it, but it's claude first.
Eh I think I'd be more down on a nicer day, honestly i still might join Saturday, depending on how I'm feeling on the day
I've got some gigs on Sunday tho so can't do then for sore
Sure
Altho if most things are indoors maybe it's better, I just like the harsh sunlight for street, looks better with the shadows usually
ugh. i do want to go to the museums tomorrow, but the other group i'm in want to meet on sunday. @vital obsidian you said you aren't around on sunday, right?
Uhhh
Let me check
I may be able to do Sunday but only for a time and then I gotta go home and take pictures of hot Women being tortured.

looking like i'm going to be busy on sunday, so let's do the museum tomorrow. i'm asking my other group who else can come.
we'll see what the other group says. if there are 2-3 more people in from that group, let's meet. if not, we could move it to another weekend. though i am still going to photograph tomorrow. i need to go out with my new camera.
alright, @buoyant shore is in, and also another friend from a group I'm in. @vital obsidian we are on tomorrow.
- Date/Time: Sat May 2nd - 2:30pm

- 1071 5th Ave at 89th St — walk 2 blocks south
- Admission: $30.
🏛️ 5:45 – 7:30pm · The Met

- Admission: $30 (NY residents pay-what-you-wish with ID — $1 minimum, bring cash)
(note i'm pushing it upto 2:30pm so we can get more time in the museums since guggenheim closes at 530p)
im in too! With a Friend!
yayyy
I have a 3rd friend who said he'd join for the 2nd location
Ooooh might try to join if I'm feeling like it
it's likely that saturday lines are going to be long, so i want to purchase the tickets beforehand for everyone so we don't wait.
@vital obsidian i can purchase tickets for your friend(s), or you can purchase tickets for your group. @sudden comet let me know if you are coming, or if you are deciding later, then you can just get them by yourself.
i hate so much that b&h closes on saturdays
I think I'll come but honestly I'll have to see tomorrow, so don't order me anything
someone put my work in a gallery for shit and giggles
If you buy my ticket I'll venmo youuuuu, just the one though (for all 3). i sent it to others and my friends will be coming by randomly for stuff. 2nd and 3rd stops I think. So they can get their own. Also if it's too late I can just grab my own tomorrow morning too.
I am still mid pill side effects. Really hoping it dissipates by tomorrow
Wow hitting up all those museums sad I can't go
My teeth require cleansing or else id pop by and say hi
🏛️ Cooper Hewitt — 2:30–4:00
The hidden story: The building IS the exhibit. People photograph the design exhibits and miss that they're standing in a Carnegie mansion with carved oak everywhere.
📸 Don't miss:
- Grand Staircase: Carved oak, leaded windows. Wide vertical from the bottom, or 85mm slice from the landing looking down at someone climbing.
- Conservatory / Atrium: Glass roof, cleanest natural light in the building.
- Garden: (Only major museum garden in NYC) — exit through to the back, often empty.
- Pen-driven exhibits: Visitors interacting with the digital touchscreens are great environmental portrait fodder. Their faces are lit by the screen — atmospheric.
⚙️ Strategy: Ornate detail on ceilings/mantels for negative-space minimalist crops. Save the wide shots for the staircase and conservatory. Settings: ISO 1600–3200, f/2.8, 1/60–1/125.
🏛️ Guggenheim — 4:15–5:30
The brief: Architecture first, art second. The building is the iconic shot of the day.
📸 Don't miss:
- The Money Shot: Ground floor, dead center, look straight up — concentric oval ramps and the oculus skylight. Vertical orientation, wide lens.
- Counter-shot: Elevator to top, then look DOWN over the railing at the spiral receding. Bring a steady hand — high contrast.
- Compression slice: 85mm from any level, framing 2–3 ramps with a person walking. Strong negative-space candidate, B&W convert.
- Skylight oculus: Alone, abstract.
- Silhouettes: People against the white walls on the ramps.
⚠️ Photo policy: Non-flash photography in the permanent collection only. Most special exhibitions are banned — check lobby signs before shooting. They're strict about it.
⚙️ Strategy: Shoot vertical 70% of the time here. Architecture rewards symmetry — find the center, square the lines. Settings: ISO 800–1600 (skylit), f/4–5.6 for sharper geometry, 1/125+.
🏛️ The Met — 5:45–7:30
The brief: Can't see it all. Pick 3–4 spots and shoot them well. Don't speed-walk through everything.
📸 Photo-best spots (in priority order):
- Temple of Dendur (Sackler Wing, Egyptian): Slanted glass wall + reflecting pool + 2,000-year-old sandstone temple. The most cinematic room in NYC. Late-afternoon light through the wall is magic. Wide for the room; 85mm for atmospheric details of the temple carvings.
- American Wing (Engelhard Court): Sculptures under a glass roof + neoclassical facade of the old US Bank. Skylight gives soft, even light. Strong portrait spot.
- Astor Court: (Ming-dynasty Chinese scholar's garden) — only Met room lit by an open ceiling. Tranquil, monochrome-friendly. Often overlooked.
- Arms and Armor Hall: Equestrian knights mid-charge under a vaulted hall. Dramatic compression with the 85mm; wide for the cavalry tableau.
- Greek and Roman Court: Central skylit hall, marble sculptures.
- The Great Hall entrance: Grand staircase, domed ceiling. Last shot of the day on the way out.
⚠️ Photo policy: Non-flash, no tripod, monopod sometimes ok. Special exhibitions vary — assume banned unless signed.
⚙️ Strategy: Pick natural-light spots first while the sun's still up. Temple of Dendur and the Engelhard Court reward you for being there before 7pm. The vaulted Arms and Armor and Astor Court hold up under any light.
