#3D Printing Shrine
1 messages · Page 2 of 1
So now you need a dry box to print out of and dessicant, even more opportunities to spend money
just ordered a dryer for the tpu. Why do i need dessicants tho? ill just store both my tpu rolls in the dryer permanently
You can over dry if you leave it long enough and money for electricity
ok lucky for me i still have 2 bags of dessicants that i used to store my other filament rolls
i mainly just need tpu for a gasket for my cfeb/sd box
you can find prints or methods to disable the ams auto load system to still take advantage of the drying
a lot of them exist for the AMS lite
yes
yeah idk i just bought a filament dryer. Its something i’ll probably need anyway
Yeah everyone should have a filament dryer
yummy poop from 1 multi color print
i definitely underestimated the amount of waste it produces lol
You can print it w/o dryer
for a bit
@naive forge 👀
Interesting
It looks kinda cool
@lapis nova is there anything i need to be aware of besides the humidity thing when printing tpu?
Don’t print above recommended parameters
That’s really it ig
pray
in my experience it is just unstable
sometimes it prints fine
sometimes the prints fail miraculously
just put of nowhere
as in not hotter than recommended? Im currently just using the standard anycubic tpu profile
thats what i do before any print anyway
Hotter, faster
ok no im not doing that. Ill probably just start with standard profile and then work my way down if needed
Your anycubic is direct drive right
(extruder motor is in toolhead?)
yep
i didnt know not having the extruder inside the toolhead was a thing lol
first layer looks fine so far but is printing tpu kinda slow?
At least it looks a lot slower than petg/pla
I mean yeah it's stretchy and flexible
too fast could make it move around and layer shift
I think that's why?
makes sense
btw is it normal that tpu is kinda hard to get off the print plate?
@naive forge where did you buy your tullomer from? Those nylon rings i printed for a client they may need more in the future and i might see if tullomer would be an option
Actually maybe not for $275 for 0.5kg
0 layer adhesion, but there's only 1 place to buy it

PC > tullomer
Opinions on the Revo hotend stuff?
quick change nozzles cool
It's fine
Just probably not the brass
@hollow fiber have u done a 70-200 vrii box yet?
not yet
ok ill be doing one tomorrow
yes but i have a lot of time atm so imma give it a try
lmk how it goes
will make one with a cutout for the tripod foot
i had no idea how to plan for the tripod foot
Just put tripod foot facing up
Easy
QC or product testing to make sure it can withstand the needed forces/temps
pretty sure it was just measurements
There was a little notch in the ring that was literally impossible to sand so that’s why it barely passed
It was off by 1mm
moved printing shit
getting a vent cut in my wall for ease of use
very noice
don't mind the humungous Capri sun boxes
they are storage
very good size
yup
much easier than having the window open at all times
and can always be closed or sealed back up
i usually keep my window open but only tilted so not completely open
but my printer stuff is in a dedicated workshop room so i dont inhale that many fumes
I'm planning to try printing asa soon so proper ventilation is something I'd very much like
i wanna try abs but no enclosure
i did find a refurbed kobra s1 tho which is like similar to the p1s but i have spent enough on 3d printing recently lol
built in ventilation and all
also yeah abs needs crazy specs
like 120 bed and 270 hotend I think?
it looks janky tho and my inner demons tell me to do it properly
I mean there's really nothing wrong with it
everything is properly covered
zips shut and tight
ventilation has negative pressure so no fumes could escape anyway
tbf im too busy printing organization stuff atm so anything that requires an enclosure is just future plans
i really love matte pla
just close the door and get a bunch of industrial fans on the windows
if I did ever buy a new printer it'd for sure be enclosed
much less hassle
the wood pla i have is also cool and theres like a ton of other filament i really wanna try but man it adds up in cost quickly
could use my z7ii profits on a p1s instead of z8 kekl
get z6iii and spend the rest on p1s
yuppp
I have so much filament already but want shit like asa for outdoor things
could lel
but 45mp and cool screen
pla metal looks cool or that silk stuff
tbf could probably downgrade to z7 original and just keep profits
lel
I could just sell the 24-120 I got for free(technically) too
seems the p1s can be ventilated very easily
cool
waiting for Peyton to spawn with the "pla doesn't smell" or "you don't shoot just get p1s instead"

p1s gud
Built in filter for all your filtering needs
No hole in the wall needed ‼️‼️
For all the useless filtering needs*
Barely
I printed with nylon and could only smell when door to printer was open
since you dont shoot anyway just sell everything and get like 3 or 4 p1s
real
turns out i did. Cutout is like 3mm too narrow
sanding time
was thinking about that but the print didnt come out great anyway so ill just redo it
but i think i fucked up my bed temps cuz after changing them bed adhesion has become terrible
Clean ur build plate
Dish soap and water
yeah uh turns out im stupid. I accidentally touched my build plate with greasy hands and put grease all over it lol
Lmfao
ive genuinely never had a print fail cuz of build plate lel
i clean it like once every 3 weeks out of principle
but otherwise its like always fine
I have a couple times
@naive forge know of any places where I can get big spools of PLA or PETG?
Someone may need like 300 of these
3kg 5kg or 10kg, know the bigger the more annoying it is to deal with
is PETG hard to print with? Never printed with it before
And probably just 3/5kg spools
easy if it's dry
personally for orders I spend the extra on 3dxtech, but there PLA is a little limited
But for 3kg personally I vote Numakers, otherwise elegoo is typically decent
zyltech might have some 5kg spools, they are typically a solid brand (especially abs)
Yeah my dryer doesn’t fit bigger than 1kg spools
I think PLA should be fine for the part
I asked the designer and he said it doesn’t go under any heat
It’s just a clip for some metal hooks
And now he’s telling me it needs to be food safe…..
yeah, why I typically stick to ~1kg spools even on large orders, simply cause it's easier to deal with for me
if I ever got an automatic re-spooler I may go larger
99% confident 3d printing isn’t food safe
Either shoots cost up a billion times or not being 3d printed
I’m guessing the part would need to be sealed
To make it food safe you'll want to coat it in a food safe resin or epoxy or something
ugh
But just gonna say, you probably already know this, but don't go the cheap option for orders, go with good and reliable filament even if it costs more
Yeah elegoo is one of the better reliable consumer main stream brands for pla atleast
PLA itself is already food safe it’s just the layer lines where the bacteria sits
That’s my issue
I wonder how much it would cost to send them off for injection molding
not cheap
just uhhh
coat it
lel
and print with stainless nozzle
i did something else funny tho
Lmao you did buy one
(h2d)
0/10 ragebait
sure
I also did get something else alongside the 200-400
unironically
2 nozzle too many
yes
Monopod
❌
Not 2x smh my head
the ii and iii are near identical on the 200-400 ive found
so no reason to spring for iii
so ill have a 560mm f5.6
but will stop down to f6.3
75-300 ca lel
very
show
damnnnn
that’s pretty good
f4
f4 vs f6.3
look how close this is
sell a1 for p1s
that 100-400 is tack sharp holy shit
even on 5dsr
its peak optics
just f6.3
but like
200-400 will be fine
i value f4 more than the 100-400 peak sharpness
imagine you get a fucked copy which isnt really sharp
id just end it then and there
I haven't seen anything on any sample variation at all so it'd piss me off even more 😭
finally managed to make the z6iii box fit perfectly
layer shift sad
Obviously a sign to buy p1s
only because I ran out of petg and had to refill it
filament backup my beloved
currently printing a tripod collar for the 100-400
gonna be interesting how sturdy itll be
errr
i probably wouldnt trust it that much
unless good filaments
well the guy i got from used it for 3 years so
should be fine
P1S time
guy i bought it from said the support material sucks so idk
Support materials isn't great yeah
welp cant be worse than my current pure petg supports that leave awful texture on everything and sharp points
ultimately depends on both materials, but generall a clear PETG is recommended for PLA or other way around for PETG
Other materials will depend
so when printing petg, pla is recommended as support material?
Cuz when i need supports i used petg for now and its not fun lol
As a support interface material
ah ok so basically the support body itself can be petg but the layer that connects the print with the support body should be pla
Yeah
Now, not all petg/pla combos will work, some stick more than others
hmm oke ill just give it a try with the pla i have and then see where that leads me
200-400 cap coming soon

oh so the cap works when the hood is reversed?
ah cool
Ima just find a 95mm or whatever one
shit camera quality
why not make one that just fits snug over the hood
I dont have tpu but i should get some
that'd be easy to put on and remove and hard to lose
tbh just print petg or pla and tape the inside
like your 15-30 one?
mmmm
I'll send a pic it has a cool design
I wanna get tpu anyways so i might js do that
dots all around to grip the lens
cuz see through plastic
printing my cousin a kazoo
he's pissing people off with whistles it's hilarious
Lmao
youre just the fuel to the fire huh
ah yeah smart
may have made him an Aztec death whistle
more reliable than a squeeze to fit cap like stock id say
and it'll be kinda big so hard to misplace
ya i will try
tpuuuu
I think i will design it to go over the lens hood when its reversed cause once i have the lens hood on i normally dont use the lens cap cause the lens hood is so huge
i got 95a and it's decent for stuff like this
would probably go softer
it should fit either way
if the hood is just a cylinder
im an idiot
lel
here
whenever im not using the lens hood
which is usually never
the lens hood is pretty big on 150-600
ok i wouldnt say very
but its large
pretty much never
99% of the time i shoot with it on
id go for over the hood cap then
amazon tpu dirt cheap
like $15-$20
bambu tpu $$$
I just cant use it in my ams sadge
I got sunlu I think
wait
overture high speed tpu works in ams without clogging
rahhhhh
thank you 2 year old reddit post
mod
whar
AMS lite?
regular ams
sadge
PPS-CF funny material
@hollow fiber get in here silly goose
fake metal
Pps-cf is fun
also @lapis nova just remembered instead of a toy hood you could do petg and use a screw mount
like the teleprime hoods
@hollow fiber 7 hour lens cap 🙏
why 7 hour bruh
just why though
0.6mm nozzle full black 🙏
The letters looked goofy with 0.4mm nozzle
so I did 0.2mm nozzle
ez
went from like 1 hour to 7 hours 💀
Bum
this is functional big dawg
Yes but no look good
z8*
but no
idc about pre existing ones
im just not gonna shill nikon with 3d printing too
kekl
This my only branded camera print
and I don’t have yellow so it’s white letters
one of my frens got z6iii
no z6iii
soon 🙏
as soon as z7ii sells
cope
when z6iii?
soon

not soon lol
bro think he me
do it
what is this copium
z8 mid
❌
lol p1s mid
Probably adhesion issue
low infill?
idk i will check later
@hollow fiber should I buy
yes
wow only 2$ for an h2d
buy all the stock
unforeseen side quest
turned into a main quest now
well i think im fucked lol
tpu is so incredibly stuck in the extruder that i cant get it out no matter what

ended up buying a new print head. Only solution left was to forcefully pry open the extruder which would’ve damaged it anyway.
a new original print head was 30€ off aliexpress while a new extruder is 25€
so for 5€ more i also get a new hotend

I need to replace the center support beam on my large T-Rex, debating getting a part printed out of titanium lol

just print titanium smh
it'd be $86.65 for the part and $22.73 for shipping
💀
@hollow fiber wonder who this is
i wonder
how good are caps/hoods that are 3d printed
if good filament theyre great
i use printed caps on my tc
cuz the ones it came with suck
ic
petg typically
ideally asa for stuff thats gonna be outdoors a lot
but petg is fine
fine
does anyone have a hotshoe cover stl
could print this shit in carbon fiber reinforced nylon and still wouldnt trust it
just google it theres plenty around depending on what you want
I use pla to hold up a whole bunch of expensive crap
they be like different tho
how much wiggle room is there lol
its like 2 grams of filament just print a bunch
true
i no longer trust pla since it deformed in a few hours sun
very sadge
will pla hotshoe get fucked
or was your pla deform from like bearing load
Ah yes, one of the least heat resistant materials in the sun
it was for like 2 hours on a warm day through my window 🤷
i just use pla for fun prints now
which is most of them
i doubt it
mine just had moving parts and it bent them slightly
but hotshoe is solid and stays in the same position
depends on heat
i would just print in ASA or even nylon
Pla is prone to creep and not heat resistant
skill issue tbh
Not really, just a fact
oh yeah you remember those nylon rings i printed?
Hence why my dinosaur is getting a sls nylon part and eventually might get a titanium part
Yeah
still havent gotten paid...

mhm
No pay half upfront atleast?
nothing
0
no payment whatsoever
ive talked to my dad about it and he has had nothing

he said his work is getting a new payment system or whatever
im getting kinda impatient
at least you learn for next time
Most I do before payment is prototype
damn
yeah uh
i did all printing and post processing
Mhm
paid?
real
tinkercad so damn simple
that why I use it
I have very limited Fusion360 knowledge
@naive forge i need helps
0.2mm nozzle
and uh
why does it just not print some parts
and how can i fix it
prolly why no?
dont some slicers just not print stuff thinner than 1 line
is there any width to the other parts in the stl?
or just planes
Yea I tried I think I just need to make the model walls larger
@naive forge i have this plane fuselage and im struggling to make it completely solid and have the cockpit look like this rc plane, where its a solid object. ive tried a bunch of stuff in fusion and i still cant figure it out any help is appreciated
enclosure connecting part snapped mid print
caught it early and replaced it
but this enclosure is feeling like the ship of theseus rn
ive replaced most of these connectors with custom ones i made ages ago
glad i did
theyve saved me many of times
this means its p1s time
naur enclosure my beloved
i also figured out how to put my desk. Im gonna do it like in the first picture i sent but instead of having it crammed against wall ill put an ikea kallax shelf between the desk and wall. This pushes the desk more into the room and gives me a nice surface to put some decorations and my macbook stand
will be cramped with the other desk type thing no?
the other desk is my old one and is just standing there temporarily. I will throw that thing away today
didnt realize that it was visible in the picture lol
two fiddy???
jsus
mayb i cop
is my ky brokn bruh
fuck
ams is 400
like ai mini plus ams
400\
gay
i got my a1 + ams and 30 rolls of filament for 300 lol
how the fuck
Used is always a fun 50/50 though
got to see it in person so wasnt worried too much
fire
i own a1 mini
and ams lite kinda aight
no enclosure smh
thats a good cover up for just having an insane amount of gas
it is
i want that £2500 z9 lol
@hollow fiber
extra 8tb of storage
yeah uh
the right stack is off the chassis a bit
brother just print tpu feet or smth it aint that hard 😭
lemme get tpu

wait
I have furniture bumpers I think
vibration = not good

js something rubber or whatever
This what I got big dawg
unc
dawg it’s all I got
I have this sticky rubbery tape
@hollow fiber
should it be on the plastic as well
there
@hollow fiber 😡😡😡
Ok done
update yo status bum
cringe i have all my nas hdds hanging in the chassis without any support
maybe ill print some hdd cages but meh its fine so far
i do need some power splitters cuz ive ran out of power cables for my hdds lol
@naive forge
What's wrong with em
Nothing
Mf gif stealer
ye
i see you zlushie...
😭 why would you possibly be in this chat
unless you have a plugin to notify u when someone typing
nuh uh im just all knowing
what should i print
d500 cage
yes
yo send me this
I need cover for 3 batts
wot if i dont
Ty king
print it out of pla and see how long it lasts
Not long
Hell nah
how much
thats a great question
depends how much
how hard is making a 3d printer frl
I mean cmon
@hollow fiber
@lapis nova should i do it
Yes
Threaded printers 💀
@lapis nova @hollow fiber should i make a better version of yeggi
@hollow fiber @naive forge
never seen it end up down there before
Yeah me neither lol
gug
yes
Not as expensive as expected tbh
Looks to be positioned as a x1c replacement
yea I was expecting higher price
$1250 for printer only
this seems very cool
@lapis nova is this peak 3d printing
wat is dat
Still didnt tell me what that is
trackr
bored
I see
its for my pelican but i was fucking around with it and saw it fit almost perfectly in my l bracket
sooo
fun printing
Bros gonna lose his pelican
bro some guy literally came to my store with his car covered in bullet holes with bulletproof glass
i do not trust this city bro
eu moment
nearly finished z6iii mount anyway
bros actually putting one on his camera
nahh
Bad boy
h
no need for one cuz no one actually wants to steal a nikon
sony much more valuable
Real
Real
Go shoot make money and gas more
abt to gas 35-150
What for bro 😭😭😭
Doing it for the love of the game bruh
want it
😭😭😭😭
2 a1 minis worth of plates lol
here ya'll go, something from prusa you can afford
Real
wah
just for the core one
not even for the mk4
its like 550 usd to upgrade to the core one from the mk4 i am not doing ts
js buy a used mk4s for like 900 cad
ik someone that sold one for like 800
Welp, the wallet hurts from spare parts order
jeez bro
Bought the H2S
🔥
Yeah fedex will have fun

Bought new big ass printer
I didnt expect it to be that heavy lmao
With all his parts im guessing
Yeah same, was expecting like 60lbs max

I mean you can, id just wonder if a glossy vs matte surface finish would change things
the thread is my concern
@lapis nova abs-gf
man i never get how you print shit like this with so little support
sexy
Skill and slowly
i still know nothing about printing so just auto settings for me
I don't mess with a ton of settings tbh
.
clean ass supports
Gah zamn
😩😩😩😩😩
Tf
guess what is
Ah
the idea is threading rope through the holes
i doubt itll work
but its fun
if not ill just adjust and reprint
Thing
Thing
fr \o/
Yuck
L
Thing #2
i dnt know resin
at all
cant do it for shit
the thing has sat vacant for ages
Resin is an involved process i have 0 care to get into
fr
@naive forge is there an abs or asa supplier that you can recommend?
I like zyltech abs atm
they’re unfortunately not available here. Might just try jayo or esun abs since im happy with their other filaments
Yeah, most of my common stuff is US/north america companies unfortunately
Fridge
do you guys think its possible to print a cage for the z5ii
i dont really even know what a cage is useful for but i wanna take som videos and i wanna mount random shit on the camera
possibly
just out of a stronger material
if you have a good printer and material and modelling skills
modelling skills ehhhhhhghghggywygbeurf
Tinkercad my beloved
real
im no expert but i know this doesnt look right
anycubic has already told me that theyll send a replacement part but i cant imagine how this happened
mint
Yeah I don’t think so pal
i wonder what caused the layer shift there
actually i managed to click it back into place
getting the new part is still good tho cuz i accidentally broke off a nose when replacing the hotend
i think thats a curse i carry with me cuz i also broke off a nose on my a1 mini lol
idealy front cover is made to fall off on contact/collision and stop the print
yeah but it sits really firm and cant fall off easily. I also cant imagine with what it collided because the print was in a very early stage and there are no other objects in its way. Shouldve done a timelapse with the camera to see the culprit of that mess
i think its better for print quality when the head is fully assembled
could be wrong though
@lapis nova do you use enclosure heating for printing abs or asa?
nope
p1s doesnt have it
ill probably just use standard settings and go from there
watch the first print be warped as fuck
Just get Bambu
Shrimple
well i at least have enclosure heating so thats a plus
Mid
Idealy you want that chamber pretty warm, like 55c+
nothing special but its getting somewhere
might diy a stealth press for the soldering iron
This clean asf
buy a p2s
been looking into that recently
yeah but just because ive mounted most of the printing stuff to the pegboard. Might make a mount for the soldering iron too
def more than just screen simply from that photo alone
my pegboard is completely full of stuff. I do have a second one though so could theoretically mount that in front of the soldering mat
looking at the picture i think the first pegboard is too high. Shouldve mounted it lower but cba to redo that cuz id have holes in the wall
do i buy kekl
Yeah
I’m sorry what the fuck is this
😭
nozzle probably
keeps 😎
Normal p1s
fun
I printed this exact model and there is no springiness to it at all
sounds like youre stupid ig
what did u print out of
yea I gotta do smth different
I did pla cause that’s all I had in my ams at the time
nylon
Hopefully a good fan for once
Massive
Mhm
But hopefully that means its not a shit fan like all there others
Doubt.

then there will be no reason to buy a p2s lol
whats even the upgrades
i think i used my a1 screen...
Tomorrow
I barely use my p1s screen but when I use it, it sucks
everything done from desktop now lel
I have to change the software nozzle size in printer now
like
apparently I can’t do it in slicer
last time I checked
after the most recent update
you just can tho lol
it’s bullshit
change it

does it matter?
yes
how much of the better hardware do you actually use
uh
