Nice. I done portraits and maternity underwater. But I’m actually tired of photographing people. Which made me not want to shoot digital at all. My buddy gave me a a Nikonos V with all the lenses and I lubed it up and ready to take it out. I might do some Toni Frissel inspired stuff and Howard Schatz inspo.

For diving its nice to be able to take lots of shots given the difficulty of focusing/lighting/buoyancy but i appreciate your ambition!

Yeah. I usually set up lighting in water and topside. But diving seems to be a whole new animal.

Yeah especially if you're new to diving having something additional to worry about and then to be stable enough to position and shoot is a real challenge
And then a real diving rig is heavy and has strobes and all kinda things
I'm pretty impressed with just the tg6 on its own, its a great starter dive camera even without a strobe
and its small enough to just clip on
i felt fairly comfortable taking it out after ~20 dives
keeper rate is still very low though

Yeah. I have a Nauticam with 2 strobes. I use a 16-35 for my lens and Sony a7riii

I have a friend that models and she is certified to take new divers. I might go with her and practice some ocean portraits and then actually set up everything when I get comfortable.
I did get a strobe for the Nikonos too. Just one. I figure it might help with lighting down below

You might be able to get away with built in flash for learning
But yeah strobe is necessary further down or for real nice shots

I’m using a sea and sea D2 and Kraken strobe. I also have a Stella light. For the Nikonos I have a sb105. I usually float my sea and Sea in a pool then fire off my topside strobes.

I had tear my tank down. I was infested with some bristle worms and then it got so hot in my tank that I got a severe algae bloom. I needed to buy a cooler on winter but summer came on in an instant. It killed all my coral, clowns, Spanish dancer and goby
