Yeah done a quick Google search, found something about f35's flying yesterday for training from Williamtown so seems to add up
Probably nothing to be alarmed about
Not alarmed, mostly curious
yes
the hawks will sometimes have transponders on
But the F35s never have them on unless they are squawking 7700 or 7600, which indicates an emergency
F35s fly Monday-Thursday day 9am - 3pm and 9am-12pm Friday
that’s the general schedule
Yes F35s frequent Evan’s head
Today they were doing aerial refuelling though off the coast
Ah, I'll keep an eye out tomorrow
The fighters don’t have their transponder on but the tankers sometimes do
Quickly remembering why I prefer sunrise over sunset, so many people around
should move to melbourne, never a problem for us
i mean, different problems instead
Like protests!
It’s just 4 seasons in 1 day problems

And a severe coffee addiction
every time i see your name i think of this meme
...
Mozarts been real quiet since fart.mp3 dropped
What defines a severe coffee addiction
@steep idol just booked flights to darwin in july for mates weddign
There we go, same problem now. In good news, sunrise, so not many people around
Loving the cold temps, just not the cloud it's brought along
Light is a bit better this morning
Finally out of there
The big day has finally arrived
crazy work
hell yeah
just wait for the airport traffic bro
Oh it’s bad
is your dinner the dog treats?
😂 dogs got dinner at the same time as us
i love that parks in victoria are within walking distance, took these at a pond
i LOVE that second photo
which site is this?
well, apparently at my workplace, we are given a possible discount code if we sign up for the code with Sony.
Tldr jb hifi staff got offer from Sony for whoever signs up before 22nd, may be eligible for 30% off on release of that camera
i need to get a job at jbhifi
I mean if I don’t end up getting it, and we can just share the code and that works without any legal tidbit like it has to be under my name and such, did u want the thing instead. Not sure if it works across states tho
cause like. I’m planning to invest into Nikon more so…
i’m guessing you’re vic?
Yeah i saw your question and was like “why not stay nikon”
the deal was just so like ermm like ooo low price
But if I think realistically. I can get like a Nikon red instead or really good Nikon lens
I’ll keep u updated then. I’ll have to sign up first and see if they even count me eligible
But also if it’s like a no legal stuff need to be shared
i see
Like u just need code and that’s it
It’s a bit tricky with discount sharing at jb hifi
Btw like for cameras. I checked
Erm
It’s okay
Like
I checked dji stuff
Discount is pretty sizable
cause we better
Probably won't get it any cheaper than that for a little while
Im with thr Victorians now
We're so up
@sudden karma eating gyg again made me ascend icl
Crap, we continue to be outnumbered
oh its so peak
bro i was gonna cry tears of joy
1k calories lowk throwing me though
Victorians are the best
I LOVE MY STATE
I WILL FOGHT FOR MY STATE
I WILL FIGHT FOR MY STATE
the disparity between victorians and NSW makes no sense to me
Like yeah melbourne is bigger but do they have more photographers somehow 😭
We had more from Sydney, just vanished
Does somewhat make sense though, Melbourne is more of an art/cultural city than Sydney
They're still on PL, just never active
I've also been there to witness in person some of them gasing at camera store in Sydney
which one
A few now
Or heck when I picked up my 180-600, one happened to be at georges at the time lol. But yeah sad they're inactive, just the nature of things, people get busy, priorities change
Then there’s tiny few of us from the north
i had a feeling it would be georges lol
Georges would probably be the most used store for those of us in Sydney, they're just usually good
I'll still price things elsewhere, they just often end up cheaper
That was like
2 years back now wasnt it?
yeah real shit about the priorities thing
welcome to victoria oliv!!!!
melbourne is more artsy in nature
(we still have a lota stores that specialise in film etc)
sydney still better btw
sydney usedd to have aroundd the same levels as mel

but theyve all moved
yeah yeah keep gaslighting yourself
only retirees can afford to do artsy shit in sydney
there r 6 people on my street that own leicas
2 that own a hassleblad x2d
so
yea
damn
do you live near a retirees home perchancev

i live in the cityish
that’s a crazy sentence to me because nobody but crypto millionaires, bigshots and uni students live in the cbd
i live like technically in the cbd
still a filthy rich area tho
any melbourne local should beable to figure it out
Melbourne is now one of the few places in Aus where you can actually live in the cbd for a "reasonable" cost
Not going to get a house cheap ofc, but some apartments in there are pretty damn cheap
lets play a fun game, how much is this cbd apartment worth?
$1.2 mil?
Yeah Melbourne you can get some decent ones for half a mil right in the cbd
jfc
Really?
Yes
Never looked at melb house prices in my life somehow
2br may push that a bit
Houses are still pricey, you won't get those cheaper without moving a bit further out, but overall still the most affordable in Aus now
Places like Darwin cheaper, but Melbourne has more income opportunity so generally better shape
a million dollars in sydney gets you a bungalow in a shithole so melb is leaps and bounds
Can get solid free standing houses for $600-700k within an hour
But yeah as much as I'll throw shade at Victoria at times, housing is something they've done really well on. Building amount per capita is decent, but they've also implemented a lot of legislation that favours residents over investors
Investors moan and groan, but it's been great for people actually living there
i hate on melbourne too much to ever willingly be there outside of the f1 race and sandown if you gave me a little convincing
idk i think the melbourne sydney beef is stupid
its fun but should never be taken seriously
Living in Sydney it's mandatory to hate on Melbourne, in practice like most places, it's perfectly fine
i continue the melbourne slander out of pride
Exactly
i continue the sydney slander out of priode
but outside of tht i got no problem with sydney siders
BUTTTTT
It’s like the QLD and NSW beef during State of Origin
Up the maroons
i still think both cities are cool in their own way but its really like weird and interesting how it works out
like for as creative and cool melbourne is i think sydney has better art galleries and restaurants though overall i kind of agree that melbourne is more artsy and culture oriented
just that i guess there’s more rich people money who can afford to do playthingy shit like open galleries
bro
I feel like a refugee
Melbourne is so cool
Wdym my shipping time is like a day
Alice used to be a week minimum
😭
It's Pit street 2mil+
Ahh saw the answer 1.4mil
yeah overshot
Not surprised it's the location
Views tbh
If you're rich enough to afford a place like that many of the inconveniences of a normal pleb don't apply
That Pitt street apartment would be a crazy good Airbnb investment
Since it's so central you'd basically get full bookings most months
No, you're just seeing things
awe
should i exchange program to aus
quite a few universities: Monash, Queensland University of Technology, University of New England at Armidale (AG), University of New South Wales, University of Queensland, University of Sydney, University of Western Australia
In a few weeks we may have a bit of an issue
Why's that
state of origin
Oh right
The only bad part about Uni of WA is you'll need to drive a heap, Perth is super sprawly.
We do have a lot of great unis
NSW and VIC both tend to be the hotspots iirc, best states for living anyway tbh
The amount of exchange students keeps jumping not sure what's so nice about studying down here it's a shithole half the time
if you move down to melbourne we can hang out and watch national geographic together
but on the real, what would you think of studying? there are generally very good uni’s, but also specialised unis that are a lot better for certain degrees
electrical engineering
monash and melb uni are pretty good for that, i daresay unsw might be the best in the country for that tho
i will be at a good school for it in the US, not too worried about the level if i do any exchange, moreso want to do it for the life experience
no
tbh though if you go to a major uni there’s not the elitism here are that there is in like the uk/us i think
outside of law
yeah im not worried about prestige, i got enough in the us
yeaaah
Law it kinda matters what uni you go to
Melb is so cool though holy
Completely different vibe to syd
This your first time in Melbourne?
Thought you would have been multiple times given how much you travel
Left field choice Canberra if you want something quieter and close to nature
Close enough to Sydney so you don't have to deal with the cancer that is traffic there
Dunno if ANU has an exchange program with your uni tho
wdym traffic is bad in Sydney, what's wrong with spending $20 on tolls for the right to sit there in traffic for an hour
My parents still haven't transferred the ownership of the toll tag in my car over to my account yet so they still pay for my toll trips 🙏
Absolute blessing
Just wait till oliv gets his license and starts driving places here and sitting behind fucking assholes that got their license out of a weetbix box and genuinely have no clue what a speedlimit is
In 10 years
Or the fact that our merge laws are different compared to majority of the country
Melbourne i actuslly dont frequent
Ah fair
I've still not been, so has be interested to see atleast once
Not a big concrete jungle person, but I hear it's good
You should come down at some point
Still planning August trip
Im getting my full licence in the nt and then transferring
The concrete jungle itself isn't too horrible, but it's not a big trip from the city to get to nice places
Be less hours that way lmao
Fucking 120 hours of driving
Implying people actually do the full 120
No I did a realistic 100 odd and faked the rest
"Well that was a good 5 minute drive, lets round that up to an hour"
Yupp
120 hours is a bit overkill
Id say somewhere in the 75 hour vincity is the sweet spot
It used to be 50
I thought you were oliv
Tbh 100 is about right
It's national pancake Day fyi
People are shit drivers
go get a pancake
They get bad habits from their parents
Look at this guy showing off his ram in this PC economy
An extra 20 hours isn't making any difference peoples parents are the root of the problem
Yeah exactly
200 bucks down the drain
Tbh, we really do need to have professional training centres
16gb ddr4 😭
Ouch
Or like 10 mandatory hours with an instructor or smth
The people transferring licenses from other countries should have to take proper tests aswell
Or people just develop bad habits after the fact. Half the learning also happens on the p's when you start driving solo
Like stricter ones
Oh for sure, especially the nt
😭
Our laws are so loose
You can get a full license at 18
You'll enjoy the U turn laws down here tho
Getting to U turn everywhere unless signed otherwise is so much nicer then the other way around
Yeah one day
this place is sick though
Been fined for exactly that, u turn with traffic lights is illegal.. only fine I've had so far
It's definitely more lively then Sydney at night for sure
wait did I show you what happened at the airport
canberra is a fucking shithole and i’m not pulling my punches on this one
I'll be going to Adelaide 100% if I do
I'm not sure how I haven't been fined for various things so far but the U turn laws down here are definitely better then other states imo
nature is a fair point tho
Canberra is fine
A bit biased I guess but it makes more sense to me
Im also copping a zoo membership
It's "boring", but that's not inherintly a bad thing
i find it quite depressing
I need to swing by the zoo at some point thanks for reminding me
parents used to own a place down there, it was fun going to the snow but something was always not right
Too quiet
that’s part of it but something makes me dislike canberra
Too many politicians
You're close to our Politicans?
More than one is always bad
Beat me to it
touche
I hear sometimes it gets so cold they have their hands in their own pockets
I too like being stuck in traffic for hours and have unaffordable homes
Just live in Sydney
sydney has its charm
No thanks
Occasionally
Yeah good call
Like our former PM shitting himself
whats canberra
Our capital
It does, but only if you're established, I wouldn't move to Sydney from elsewhere
The cost is just absurd, people in Sydney can't afford to buy in Sydney anymore without help from parents, who typically already own multiple property
We moved from Sydney to Canberra because it was dodgy as back in the 90s lol
Without support, you're pretty muched f'd unless you get a very high paying job
Also we had a nice French/Australian school here
Victoria could be a very realistic move for me someday just because of cost of living
it is a more logical choice to live elsewhere but i couldn’t imagine living anywhere but sydney
Take the absurd cost away I'd happily pick Sydney
It's a great location, plenty of good things around it in all directions
geographically it’s got it all
I think if I had to move I'd choose Melbourne too
Unfortunately can't even move up the blue mountains for cheap anymore, it's all million dollar property now
Until Lithgow
I know people meme on Canberra buuuut it's not cancerous like Sydney to raise kids
Canberra is fine, not as bad as people claim
We got looots of people who come back
I think if people go expecting the hustle and bustle of a Major city they're going to be disappointed
If you go with realistic expecations and the right reasons, it is a different lifestyle, it's great
All act drivers drive like madmen because the roads are so clear
This is true
Sydney drivers are pretty shocking
i think also something worth noting is if you don’t work a very high paying job or in govt canberra will be very expensive
sorry if that’s already been mentioned
if by shocking you mean not deserving of a license yes
It is, far cheaper than Sydney though
Let's be honest anywhere that is a capital city is going to be expensive if you don't have a good job
Or still some areas a bit out that are half decent prices
Also if you're making 75-80k a year which is basically just above grad wages you can live comfortably in Canberra.
thats pretty decent actually i thought it was way worse
Any thoughts on adelaide?
uni doesnt even have canberra option
Nah, people who keep saying "b-but you need six figures!!!" don't know how to budget or are living beyond their means.
Free standing house is $$$$, their apartment pricing is actually pretty decent
Yup, this exactly
If you're single an apartment for yourself and no housos is achievable if you're a grad.
You do need to actually budget
Or some move a bit out to places like Queanbeyan, it's technically NSW, but houses are a bit more affordable
Has gone up now, but not too absurd (yet)
Unless you were an idiot and took a 60 month loan on a BMW 3 series or Ranger
also lowkey wild that melb is the modt affordable capital city for housing atm
puther whereabouts are you in nsw?
didn’t have that on my bingo card
West Sydney
lived around there growing up
I imagine you're dodging bullets recently with gang flare ups lol
Doesn't happen where I am, honestly not heard much
Guildford for a more recent one, which checks out. Seems to be the hotspot in those areas between Parramatta and Burwood
run jt sometime
For sure
Maybe after we get into the swing of uni we can go on a day off
I've got Thursdays off
I start next week so might give it a bit of time to settle in and stuff
bet
How's mid march sound
sounds good to me
Pass me the vb ya fuckin cunt
Old mate loves a VB long neck for breakfast at 20 to 8 in the morning.
fucking oath
My day started with Lionel Richie's Dancing on the Ceiling blasting out of a car with its windows down at 6:40am. Tradies are fukkn weird man.
we are lol
Ayyy fellow tradie
whats ur trade mate
Hopefully this time next year I’ll be a tradie!
Super quick phone edit between sessions - out shooting the Belco bowl jam
ah fuck is there an smsp event idk abt

The biggest event of the year for SMP

Soon

Melb is acc so peak man
Im going on a city shoot

Not the best day for photos I'd think
@vivid verge scored 3 coins, 2 patches, a little token and another undershirt today
The rains nice imo
You've definitely picked the right city to get those city rain photos you wanted a while back
Not even a while back, still want them to this day 😭
Only issue is the sun sets so late
New pfp
Automotive
nice im a mehcanical fitter
Heck yeah
Going to a workshop tomorrow to talk about a new job 😬 so scared lol
I’ve never had to write a resume before lol. Managed to get all my jobs through connections
i believe in u lol
nice
Well I already know one of the mechanics there and I know their biggest client quite well so hopefully that helps
Just a long drive every day, over an hour
But my current work is a shit hole lol
fuck that
yeah fair enough
Fuck dealerships lol
Toyota
Our workshop is amazing, tiled so it’s very easy to clean every arvo, just run by fuck wits
ah i was about to say
mate that looks mint
That’s what I’m going to be sad to leave 😭
We scrub and use a floor cleaner daily, have oil and water hoses at all hoists and a 5 more hoists not in frame
Something you'll learn is a common theme unfortunately. May eventually get lucky with that though and someone decent running it
Our workshop controller is great but the service manager is just in it for bonuses
And the communication between sales and service is shocking. Stayed back over 4 hours on a Friday afternoon to fit accessories to a car because sales forgot to tell us it was going that Friday
do u guys have set hours to work?
like this job has to take this long
“Oh is that new model hilux with bull bar, scrub bars, tray, towbar, electronic brakes and 12 pin ready? The owner is on the way” - “what hilux?” 😭
We have book hours that we try to meet but it doenst really matter. Only for warranty work where the workshop isn’t paid over the book time
fair enough
yes, there is actually copper in the NT
Took my bf to visit my childhood pony with me
I traded my bike for the pony with my neighbour when I was 10 lol

Local bird wants photographer dead.
he looks fed up
first race being a wet one in new regs could be cool though as a silver lining
teams trying to figure out their car, different strategies etc
might make for a spicy race instead of the procession we get quite a lot :>
I was in with my mates cause I finished early
I'm done at 1230 on Friday tho lol
our school got floooded
same thing happened in drwn ths morning, i got to my rack 5 mins too late and you couldnt see the car in front of you
My uni had a flooded road lol
where is all of this flooding happening
We had really bad rain yesterday
Victoria
How can someone do a Photo exhibition in Aussie land
wdym
like get your work in a gallery?
Ask Oliv that's his thing
also if you don’t mind starting small and also young there are a FUCK ton of local galleries
that love showing art
i’d estimate in the cluster of like fitzroy brunswick collingwood carlton alone in melbourne there’d be at least two dozen galleries
win contests
i've been in every major gallery excluding melbourne
get to work
contests are the only entry point
woah, goated
tell me about it
I scouted the gallery of victoria yesterday
It's pretty
Really nice location too
we love the Victorian Eiffel tower thanks
oh! dont forget about the ian potter centre too
noted
I saw that 😭
basically ngv: australia permanent but they do cool shows
wait
didnt really get anything good
ALSO
BRO
IM ON EVERY BILLBOARD
IN MELBOURNE
I didnt evenr ealise

I was shocked

I was in Melbourne central earlier and saw it lol

but ik hes had some of his work in gallaries here
can you send an ig link?
sonny.notsony
I'll sus it out
gimme a sec

bro
I think my school forgot to cancel my y12 email
my adobe creative cloud still works
😭
represented by one non the less or what you said
Ngl that's cool hope u get more would love to see what work u got insta?
It'll happen eventually, not unheard of for it to sometimes time a couple of years to actually happen. Just don't rely on it for any cloud storage, access will just vanish someday without warning
you dont want 500gb to just stand there waiting to vanish~~~
I know you (presumably) say that in a joking manner, but we've had exactly that here on PL before, with someone asking how to get it back lol
lol the bomb threat to albanese being related to the shen yun / falun gong performances
that's so strange
Heard about it in passing, should probably read up on what actually happened
Definitely a strange one, apparently bomb threat also happened in the US a week ago, same thing being targeted at Shen Yun
Cheers
Ohhh snap the monkey Photo it's you
great work's amigo u deserve to be seen more by ppl
Cheers gng, people dont usually remember the monkey photo 😭
You also have a very unique and recognisable style
Its some really cool stuff
are you fuckin nuts it's a perfect photo well not just that but all ur work the one i shared on my insta the kuna park is just perfection
coming from a great artist like you means the world to me thanks mate
Ah yeah, I was pretty happy with the colors I managed to pull on that
Cheers gng
Melbourne freaked me out dude
Why was Docklands full of restaurant solicitors and participants of lettuce consumption
mistake was going to docklands
It wasn’t my fault
How tf are threes crocodiles at Wallsend
lettuce clun
club
basically people time eachother on how long it takes for them to consume a whole head of lettuce
Melbourne is an open air zoo
Strange activities in every corner
That's a good one
any big city really. full of fucking spastics, but fuck me is the people watching prime
i went to qld once, i complained about the heat, they instantly knew i was from melbourne lol
Is that meant solely for entertainment or do people actually enjoy participating
both
Nope no way people enjoy participating
Good for hydration sure but I don’t see how it would be enjoyable to speed eat lettuce
Melbourne from my POV is just super-freo
Though unlike Fremantle, people actually still live there
I don’t know much about freo
the little creatures brewery is cool
It's overpriced, the food is average at best, and the beer is mid
have only gone for work so didn't pay 8)
Best beer you'll ever drink is free beer
This is the best local cheap beer
Carton costs not much more than a CUB brand, entirely locally owned and only uses WA grain
Everything does taste better when it's free
Used to be very hippy and working class until the early 00's, got gentrified, hippies moved to the outskirts - east and south, working class got forced even further out - centre went through a boom and landowners went crazy with prices
Meth epidemic of the 10's nuked the place, so the yuppies stopped paying the exorbitant money to.live there and it became a ghost town
There's been huge state government efforts to revitalise it (they paid $270 million to renovate a privately owned building, left it in the hands of private landowners, and then signed a 30 year 1800 seat lease for a government agency) - corruption left, right, and centre
Because no one really lives there it's become a food desert (only grocery store is an IGA that's subsidised by the state government), and really only exists on the weekends until about 4pm
Try to get a coffee and a cake after 4pm and you're absolutely shit out of luck
South Fremantle and East Fremantle are thriving though because the hippies and some of.the working class have been able to stay there
Lots of nice historical limestone buildings in central Freo, but now they exist purely for tourism
The biggest indicator of the state of the area is that fast food companies literally stopped operating because it just wasn't viable due to antisocial behaviour and lack of residents
No McDonald's, no hungry jacks, no chicken treat, no red rooster, no KFC
Hungry jacks sponsors the Fremantle Dockers football club - and shuttered its only restaurant in Fremantle half a decade ago
Now this hungry jacks held the CROWN JEWEL position in the entire city - dead centre of main street and the walking mall - every road in Fremantle is circled around this one point
This building has been vacant for half a decade - it's just not viable to operate anything in it
Dead centre, not one tenant in half a decade who's actually deemed the space worth the hassle
Thank you for coming to my ted talk about urban rot
Urban rot? wait till you see adelaide
Trust me, Perth and Fremantle is worse
I've seen Adelaide
Adelaide's city centre and surrounds has some form of life outside of commuting workers and drug addicts
That's all Perth and Fremantle is
Government workers go home for the day and it all dies
this cant be worse than darwin right?
Darwin’s fine
Darwin just has big city issues that a small city shouldn’t have
Melbourne is very nice
me like the city
TIERLIST
melbourne but barely
Sydney
gold coast
Canberra
Alice springs
Adelaide
istg more shit happens in Alice springs than Adelaide
Darwin is a different beast entirely
nooooo adelaide isn't that bad!!
Gold Coast is overrated
such as?
Your house commission estates are just as violent and fucked as big cities
And your homelessness
Housing estates are fucked everywhere from small town to big city
Working in the public sector it's always so depressing seeing young families end up there because it's a fucking Thunderdome
Number one way to ruin a kids future - surround them with people who actively ruined their own future
Our housing estates are no where near fucked as Darwin’s
Mmmm boss sent me away for a week for work and forgot to book the accommodation:|
And I’m not saying it’s not an issue in places like here, I’m just saying Darwin’s scale is almost as bad as a big city
Considering Darwin is smaller than Townsville
There's no good public housing estates in Australia because we lack the political will to make them nice
We used to have government built and sold housing which kept housing cheap - and meant that the government didn't spend billions a year repairing doors and windows for people who have given up on life
Singapore still does it, so despite being a tiny island with a population of a major city, their housing is still affordable
If we are going to keep doing government owned housing estates, we need rigid enforcement of safety and security in them - young families shouldn't be forced to share their environment with the 1% of people who wake up everyday and look for a way to fuck up their lives further
This wasn’t the point I was making
But I understand what you’re talking about yes, that’s primarily how Townsville use to do it also
We currently have a "three strikes" policy in my state - but that's two too many - there's good people in desperate situations who won't smash windows or attack neighbours
Unfortunately we also have a government that’ll look at price first and see a building of shit ton units for x amount and a subdivision of homes for x (x30) amount
It was the way the entirety of Australia did it until the 70's and 80's - modern government owned housing estates are a new invention - and a failed experiment
Everyone in government currently either directly benefits from housing unavailability, or is buddies with people massively invested in housing
Situation is never getting fixed
Public housing was actually reasonable once upon a time in Aus.. but that's decades ago
I'm not sure if other states have this, but Vic has a pretty cool public housing initiative where they drop frefabs on land owned by vicroads for future road expansions
Yes, and 40% of my tax will always go to cunts who don’t deserve it
Well obviously some deserve it but I don’t need to name names
As far as poor behaviour, gotta spread it out, not build it together
Exactly, spread it further and bring down the fucking prices of housing for everyone!
I’ll live next to a shit cunt for a while for cheaper rent why not
me being drug fucked in public is actually to try and bring down property prices for everyone
its a kind thing for me to be smoking meth in toorak
Yeah that ain't happening, labour housing minister already admitted they don't want prices to come down.. granted not like liberals ever did anything but pump it either
That's part of it, we did experience significantly better outcomes when they started demolishing the flat towers here
Vertical slums
But there's no need to continue to meet the needs of someone that refuses to meet you half way
We have a limited budget and a dollar spent on someone trying to better their life will go further than ten on someone content to self destruct
Hey that's cultural appropriation of the proud western Australian people
Lol, I feel like WA has it good!
Housing is one of those things where like the greens and the fringe right parties suddenly align and if even those crazies can agree then you know we're cooked
We had it in Sydney around Northern beaches, people upset that housing commission mixed into apartments.. but it's like there's how you do it, was only a few apartments, not an entire block dedicated to it. They'll do better if surrounded by.. regular people
We're as fucked as anywhere else, but we have higher incomes
Not sure if they were ever removed, hope they weren't
They'll do even better if we sold them houses and didn't add more people into the rental market for investors to profit from
We did it before, it was fantastic
Singapore still does it, it's fantastic
Yep
NSW California, Victoria NY, WA Texas, Queensland Florida, NT Louisiana, SA Arizona, Tasmania maybe like Wisconsin, the ACT obviously DC
I reckon that’s decent ish
Northern Beaches mentioned what the fuck is crossing the spit bridge
Shit i don’t like being the cali of Australia
But you’re absolutely right
I’d say Sydney is very Californian but it mellows out to Kentucky the further west you go
sydney is very la
what a shit hole
Woohoo! I get Florida!
I agree I think that Queensland is the Florida of Australia.
I will confirm whether or not Australia is like Texas but British around Christmas after I’ve been to both places
I’ve been to both places and Australia is much more diverse than Texas
Austin is a shithole and then the rest of Texas is all and the same
I'd hope so, Texas is one state compared to an entire country
Not sure you can get there by boat either
I stand corrected, I thought it was fully landlocked but I see that it is not
I'd say Melbourne is more la, in terms of homeless
Sydney is more San Fran with the unlivable levels of housing prices a d the poo
homeless population true
everyday i count my blessings living in the NT and not having to deal with the shitty syd/mel prices
that ofc, has its own downsides
lile the fact you live in the NT
I might eat air for dinner some nights but i am a proud sydney sider
Look at this fancy person being able to afford air in Sydney
i feel thankful every day for the privilege
Bro has to check used gear for mold
on the homeless thing, so i've been running the same route for the last three years, and i feel like the homeless problem has gotten way worse (and it's like right next two council flats), the first two years I've been here didn't see a single homeless person set up shop, and like 12 months ago I saw a couple of homeless people make some space for themselves under two footbridges, but now I run past a dozen in the space of like 2km
It's presumably picked up everywhere because of housing costs, seen the exact same here
Seen tents show up in places you'd never see them in the past.. they were eventually moved on, but all that's done is take the issue away from public eye without solving it
😭😭😭
Adelaide over asp any day
Life has gotten harder, the minimum bar for a stable life is rising fast
Very easy for people to fall out into drug addiction or mental health
About 30-40 years ago state governments did a great thing by closing asylums, and stopped persecuting already affected people
The problem is that they didn't replace them with anything - and the bar to reach involuntary care is so high that most people die or cause harm to significant amount of other people before they reach that level
learn Korean Chinese and Japanese
Become mr Asia wide
Don't learn Chinese, doing business with the Chinese will drive you insane
There's this constant aspect of trying to get one over the other person - you can't have a normal business deal - even if you've been having good relationships for years, if someone can get a 5% edge at your expense they will
The same thing happens in other countries as well - particularly India, holy fuck NEVER work with an Indian company - but the problem is that Chinese companies have such a fucking stranglehold on the market, and produce significantly high enough quality/volume to cost that it's realistically impossible to pull away from Chinese suppliers after getting fucked over
I’m chinese
God knows i know how muchbof a fucking pain they are
Lmfao I’m half Chinese, feel that lol
IT's going to cost me nearly a grand to play Field Hockey this year
holy fucking shit
This is literally just local play, 1 game a weekend
Chinese is amazing langaugr
very pretty
Yeah, I like the concept of the writing being able to convey different meanings through the exact same words by using different particles
Carries across to Japanese as well
But again, holy fuck do not do business with China if you can avoid it
Learning a language doesn't mean you have to do business or work there, can do it purely for fun
Not sure how we got there
And I say this as someone who regularly buys shit from china, the second you go from an end consumer to a business customer the screws turb
No employer in the world is going to see "mandarin fluency" and not make you involved in every bit of Chinese contact they have
It's very very tempting to take language bonuses at work
But even if you speak it fluently
Don't
Do not
Pretend the only Chinese you know is for ordering noodles
some buissnesses give you extra for speaking another language
ik my workplace mandates alot of it's employees to know either Korean or Japanese fluently or conversationally because we work with suppliers who are either Korean or japanese and we work with employees who can't speak English so it's easier for us to communicate in either labgaugr
but Chinese is still. A great language to learn, it's in high demand in the west and can also be a great cultural thi g
So depends on the workplace
Yeah, and it's usually not worth it
Only one that is imho is German, because every German speaker on earth will hear you trying to blunder your way through their language with your pathetic university education and will respond in english
I'd like to learn Korean, but the honorifics system is daunting and that's really necessary in a business environment
Japanese, despite being further away from english has been rather easy to learn to a functional sense
Especially since most language courses focus on Keigo, and the sentence structure is extremely stripped back compared to English
Conversational Japanese is a brick wall by comparison though
if you're fine with learning korean or Japanese then whats do diff with chinese
it's basically the same thing since the big 3 originated or had history with china
If you end up learning enough to have language competency, Japanese or Korean is going to be a much more pleasant working life
Chinese in the business environment will have you fighting for your life
Korean gets extra points for having the simplest writing system
Chinese and Japanese kinda trade blows cause whilst Japan has multiple there's usually duplicates where necessary
Chinese companies are more forgiving with documentation errors from my experience, and for the most part they don't care about foreign documentation - though getting through an NNN was an endeavour even using specialist contractors
Working with Japanese companies, we had an in house translator and we still had everything verified third party before submission because the type of shit they would just refuse to accept was mental
here's some western sydney dialect for you

That would be correct, love the photos. Still never seen one out in the wild
Was a cat 5 at QLD, one of the more intense cyclones we've on initial passing. Fortunately was over mostly unpopulated land
We had some interesting storms yesterday, I only had it flagged as low end severe.. Car finally took its first hail dent, wasn't even chasing either. hit 5-6cm+ nearby
That would leave a dent in a car bonnet.
The great hail of 2010
Bonnet is infact where the hail dent is, only one. Was significant larger a few km away, so got off lucky
Up to 3 dents found and apparently it shredded my door trims, I still seem to have come out relatively unscathed. Others here, just entirely covered in dents, definitely more significant than I first expected
Anyone know why the moon is soo red
You have an eye infection
It's low in the sky, you're looking through more atmosphere (and by extension more particles)
