I'm taking a break this year - last year really burned me out with all the orchestral and ensemble playing I was doing. It's a good thing I'm an experienced musician as Adelaide University did bugger all to prepare me for any of it.

It was a big change in environment too - I was living on campus, which meant I could attend rehearsals at a moment's notice if I had to fill in for another musician in my section...and I had to do that twice.

Sight reading parts on one of the loudest instruments in the orchestra...not something i'd do by choice: i'd rather juggle running chainsaws by moonlight, or wrangle cocaine soaked cobras.

It’s mainly an FOV thing not focal length so it still has a crop factor of 1.5x. So that viltrox lens will still be a focal length of 53mm, but will give you a more true FOV to that sensor size&focal length

If you don’t plan on going full frame for a some time, it’s a good idea to stick with apsc lenses

There are so many things wrong there it's kind of hard to know where to start.

That was done with just a basic 300mm f/4 apochromatic lens and some aggressive cropping.

It's not impossible, just not practical. It would likely exist if it were useful, even if for an absurd cost

Main element alone has to be 215mm, so huge, heavy. Also throw in that things like CA get exponentially more difficult to correct for as aperture goes up. Not talking fstop, but physical aperture size (~215mm in this case).

Granted in the astro world this level of optics people are very picky, 10" refractors (very close to aperture needed here) are typically f8-f9 to mitigate the issues.

The lens accepted 77mm rear filters.
