Had a few clear night skies recently: So for fun, I put my camera on a tripod with a fisheye up on the roof. The LMC appears at the top which I'm rather happy about. I think I'm at Bortle 4/5.

Thing that's breaking my brain is because it is a fish eye, I know the general location of objects and that part of the sky, but relative position I know certainly feels shifted because of fish eye lol

Time of capture was closer to midnight, It was taken on a whim and I didn't use astro frame stacking software, or even DFS which I would have done if it wasn't an experiment. I wanted to see how well the fiseye i'm using handles direct point light source flare as well as veiling flare - which given the vintange of the fisheye in question, i'd say it handles very well.

The lens used was a classic Sigma 15mm f/2.8 EX DG - I got a copy of it last year for $350AUD.

Meteor showers in general are a funny one, some I feel are over hyped. Lyrids apparently averages around 15-20 meteors/hr during its peak, so somewhat on the lower end

I see them when I'm out for astro, though atleast visually most aren't anything to write home amount, setting up intervalometer for a night can get a heap

I'm guessing at my southerly lattitude, meteor showers aren't all that spectacular.

Latitude is fine, just entirely depends on the meteor shower, some are better in the southern hemisphere, others in the North

I have a colleague in the US that does a lot of deep sky landscapes and he loathes they way those starlink satellites show up in his work.

They show up in a long trail that is difficult to clone out.

It effects landscape astro more, deep sky imaging it has 0 real effect after stacking any half decent amount of data, algorithms reject pixels that vary too much (satellite trails)

But yeah I've noticed the increase. Heck naked eye under my bortle 2 site, you see a constant stream of them to the south through the entire night. It used to be a few hours after sunset you didn't see many satellites because they'd be in the earths shadow, the starlinks towards the pole are still able to catch and reflect the light
