Manufacturers can also increase the processor die size in a way to distribute heat better - but the added real estate means greater area of silicon is needed for each GPU. SLI/Crossfire brought tangible performance benefits at the cost of the end user buying another card. Having two GPUs on the same card with their own shared and dedicated memory would be a more practical solution and cooling would be easier with a single card as well.

That's effectively what the 90 cards are, the die is huge

SLI/crossfire was fun to play with, though it never scaled as well, you'll end up consuming more power for the same perormance, it never scaled 100%, varied heavily. Could work, but hassle just became more than it's worth

i'm currently eyeballing the tolerances with my vertical GPU bracket, it's an ASUS PRIME 5080 which has similar dimensions to the ART series cards. That being said: I don't think it will quite fit my current chassis as the vertical GPU bracket places limits on the thickness of the card. If I go back to stock orientation it will fit better but the airflow around it will probably be worse.

I have a Fractal North XL on the way. It took ages for me to find a supplier that had it in stock. I went with the mesh sided variant, as it has by far the best airflow and the useful side fan cage that the Tempered Glass variant lacks.
