Does depend on what you mean by abuse the camera, you won't get the free repair if there's customer damage. Heck I used to work on board repair, it's typically extremely obvious when it's customer issue vs just random failure

Was one of my concerns when the z6 went in for repair out of warranty but approved for warranty, I'd had ot drenched many times in storms, if even a bit of moisture made it in, no doubt there'd be indicators that would pick it up which gives them grounds to instantly reject it, didn't happen

I have a bad habit of editing like a few days later and cant figure out what photos I took to merge together

I might just start taking a blank photo with my hand or cap over the lens to seperate them or take notes of the time better

If there's a plan of combining photos, I just do exactly what you said, hand in front of camera for a photo before, after or both

Otherwise just do it off memory, you can ususally work it out
