Found my familys old DCR-DVD205 (sony handycam)

It uses 8cm 1.4gb dvd I have a few questions first where is the place to purchase the dvd's, do the 8cm dvd fit/work in conventional dvd players/what is the best way to transfer to computer and finally which im guessing the answer is no to is it possible to convert the camera so I dont need any dvd's?
