Good news everyone it is time for another Photo Assignment. Before we go into the rules let’s take a second to talk about the idea. The Assignments are about shooting a specific theme with a given set of restrictions. It’s not competitive but rather meant as an exercise to push yourself out of your comfort zone.

The assignment will run for three weeks to give everyone ample chance to participate, the restrictions included are “as close as possible”, if you can’t meet all of them it doesn’t mean you are excluded from the assignment, just try to get as close as you can.

At the end of the assignment, you are asked to share 5 shots you took as part of it. To maximize the learning effect, it is highly recommended that you attempt to go out with purpose and shoot all photos for the assignment in a single go, not just snap a shot every now and then.
As to the guidelines, and limitations posted they’re split into a few categories:

• Theme (the theme of the assignment)
• Focal length (this is given a type of length not a mm number and given in FFeq)
• Film type (color or monochrome if you shoot digital well convert it)
• Orientation of the frame (if you shoot film this and 6x6 this becomes irrelevant 😉)
• Use a single roll of film, or 36 images
• shoot you phots in a single session
• Limit yourself to a single ISO

Your assignment, should you accept it is:

Theme: a shape: triangle
Focal Length: wide (between 24mm and 35mm; FF eq)
Film: black and white
Orientation: crocodile (aka landscape orientation for the boring people)

Note on the assignment: It is not about the perfect technical match but about the spirit of it. If you don't have a lens that exactly matches the category, use the closest you got. If you don’t have color film or can’t get it developed in time, use monochrome. And so on. It's about challenging yourself not about competing with others. You are not expected to buy gear to partake in the challenge, use what you must to follow the spirit of the assignment.

Note: The Assignment will be compiled in a final collage, by submitting your images you agree to this unless you ask to be left out.

Gorgeous honestly

I find them a bit flat to be honest, the expired film with somewhat exhausted dev solution didn't do as much as I wanted

#

but I quite like the motives 😄

I'm sorry but my body is physically incapable of shooting crocodile for more than 3 shots before my muscle memory defaults to giraffe 🤣

😄 I write the assignment if I weren't right it'd be embarrasing 😂

remote venture
#

b/w now, just a few triangles

oak niche
#

what you notice in the b/w shot is that contrast becomes more important. The fence towards the left where its' against the dark building is not nearly as interesting as the fence on the right where it's front of a brighter building, if you shoot more b/w def worth keeping those things in mind
