theres also a BK nest, and PF at kranji if you wanna try that
if you wanna explore, PRP and SBG are not bad places
Thats a rather weird bird
greedy ahh nuthatch LMAO
After that he started pecking at it like a Woodpecker cuz it was too big for him

He took huge pieces with him like 4x
A bit too soon for him to already have babies tho so maybe he was just insanely hungry lol
bro have a whole family to feed or what
Still didnt get any good in flight shots, I somehow had motion blur even at 1/4000th
Either there was motion blur or it was out of focus
smh
how u get so close
Crows can be pretty tame in public parks or cities where they are used to people or are looking for food
yeah... no parks like that here
Public park in a huge city (and i was eating so he tried to stole it lmao)
All shots i did at this park (yes we have parakeet)
Parakeets have invaded Europe like crazy
such a generational thumbnail
burd
Bro HOW is this sharp at 1/2500th and my shots have motion blur at 1/4000th
something aint adding up
when wings r flapping back and forth the wings stop
like heres hummingbird mid flap vs full flap at 1/4000
Yeah but I also get motion blur on the body
Yee I need a spot where I can practice in flight shots more than like once every 10 mins or so lol
Yeahh that may be the problem
the bird was too close for that lmao couldnt even move that fast
But the tits are so fast I'm not sure how I would do that either way lol
cant even predict where theyre going
He’s using a canon
Yes with a lens thats even more expensive than the sony equivalent
Lmao
Shouldve gotten an is ii
Much cheaper and sharper
Actually is II is sharper in the center with tcs but softer at the mid frame and periphery
Ah yes because adapting a 15 year old lens to a new cam with a new mount definitely makes sense
Because of 5% of imaginary sharpness that dont matter irl
if u looked at the real file it would prob not be sharp
400 with a 2x just won't be that good even if it's a prime
it is
i think ur underestimating the primes
he's at F/7.1 but it won't be far from this sharpness
also remember this is a screenshot so it's sharper than it looks here
nah
2x degrades quality on any lens
we're viewing a compressed instagram screenshot
Yeah but its still a 13k€ prime
it does but it doesn't make it bad, it's still incredibly sharp and sharper than many lenses
And it still has an insane amount of detail
the screenshot u sent looks artificially sharpened to me
can u send the link if possible?
Well today was an exciting first for me on a few occasions... I’ve got my hands on a loan R6III to test so took it for a little spin down at the local nature reserve 😮💨
After getting everything setup the way I like my cameras to be, I then I got to christen it with my first picture of a Goldcrest (the UK’s smallest bird by the way)...
3507
the instagram compression is just horrible icl
r6iii also has really good autofocus
even the screenshot of the data is horrible
apparently beats the R5II in some situations
but ofc R5II also has some other stuff that makes it better
yea
lol
Eh its not too bad if you sharpen a bit more than you usually would beforehand
hmm im not even able to zoom in too much
i think my level of pixel peeping is just a little too insane lol
pretty nice
especially with the 24mp only of the r1
anyway check out this parrot i found in a tree hole today im putting a lot of effort into editing these lol
nice
also would've been sharper if he stopped down a bit
while scrolling through i've seen so many images that were missfocused even with an R1 smh
how big is it
holy sharp on that female cardinal
even on 32mp
crazy
6999 photos
thats a lot
is it cropped
extremely cropped
🔥
lemme see if i can find raw
yeah nah that shi is gone
but its cropped a ton
i didn't manage to go today cause i was supposed to start work at 8 but ended up starting at 12 cause the crane wasn't there when it was supposed to be there 💀
so i finished late
u should go tmr
needs some denosiing aswell
i'll try
is your 600 this sharp
sharper
my go to image when the 100th sharpness discussion begins
looks kinda soft
sharp
what SS was it
@left brook bomboclatttt
smol crop
damn
i should've used dxo for the denoising
looks like u shot thru a fence
i did
took ages to try and get it hidden
i re edited it after but i feel like the other one is too overexposed now from my pc screen
get this
heavily cropped but still sharp
I AM NOT SPENDING 3K FUCKING EUROS ON A MONITOR
i'm not elon musk
u can get a 4k oled for like $700 nowadays
but its 52 inches and goated
27 inches has never not been enough for me bro wtf
its the big dogg monitor
my lens may be sharp but my cams only 26mp
I wanna peep pixels more
imagine having monitor with burn in issues
R5II soon
look at my phone
there's burn in everywhere
my monitor is 4 years old and oled and no burn in so far and modern oled is even more resilient
😭 what we flexin
I think ppl just complain about burn in as a cope for not having oled
oled is worse for color work isnt it
oled is cool because black in black room but thats really it iirc
my S21 ultra screen is dead
oled can be very color accurate
for gaming it's much better cos instant pixel response time and zero smear
for photo editing u can be fine on high end ips
not even 8k smh

it's an old phone tbf
what's what you get for not reading your texts fast enough
i barely even use my phone
Luckily not 14
some area seems oversaturated (on the owl)and overexposed (on the upper left corner) the mask seems too strong
that lens they cited is 13k
how about this one lmao
for a real suggestion I use https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C4Z8RFY9 and very happy with it personally

incredible quality
same
yeah?
wish there were more than just mallards here
And it started raining a lot so i went back home
sne dpic
Didn’t get any pics
I fell in mud and it started raining
Stayed there about 5 mins
Now just dropped my phone I water again
Lost the ultrawide completely
elite phone wildlife photographer LMAO
@grizzled nebula what do you think about this

Theres three of them at once
Nice
Ive seen some too
I need to go find this black woodpecker
It’s meant to rain the entire week tho
middle spotted too lol
You need a hide for them
They are not really used to humans
😭😭😭 never go to that lake bro
This day has been so shit
Yeah
im so sorry for you lol
what a disasterous chain of events
fr💀
poor guy, finds the only lake somewhere close to him and its cursed or sum lmao
damn i would cry
same
Bro did all that just for a mourning dove
Light is nice tho
game is the game
anyway MIGHT try finally going to the lake tomorrow
i hope it doesn't rain again
Ohhhh this wasnt the lake?
no
Thought thats where it all happened LMAO
nah the place where i heard the black woodpecker a few weeks ago was on the way there so i stopped quickly and then what happened happened
yh but had to go back cause of rain
plenty of bokeh
i might drop highlights a tiny bit on the head
rlly nice lighting tho
mourning doves are cool
Oh yeah 100%, I like them too
it's a collared dove
i would increase saturation and exposure in the eye
its very pretty
yes very good
Ah yeah thats what I meant lmao
We dont have mourning doves here in europe I think lol
if anyone wants to trade instas mine is https://www.instagram.com/achenbirding
i have a total of 5 birds on my page🔥 https://www.instagram.com/shawn07290618/
should shoot more birbs
I just followed you
Yay followed back!
https://www.instagram.com/cam.frames?igsh=MWVpMGs0ZWo1cTFkMg%3D%3D&utm_source=qr
we could all use a little love and support
im only 99687 away from 100k
I Have 0 instagram followers!
i really need to start a wildlife instagram
just cba putting all my good pictures atm
https://www.instagram.com/juletek13
Insta train coming right up
Yeah I'm a very infrequent poster as well
I remember I have that insta acc like every 2 months and then do a post and instantly forget lolol
Same but I have made it a goal to try and share something once a week
i kinda post alot, then forget, then post alot
but my goal now is to share smth weekly
Same lmao
Gonna try to see the kingfisher
Hopefully it doesnt rain
Gonna wait for nice weather for the lake
Nice i followed you
Tbh I should start an account dedicated only to photography
Like wildlife
Some old cunt came to where i was just to go back instantly
Scared all the birds away
Oui oui, baguette
😡
wet sand is the worst
this the body of water?
Same here
I got loads of stuff i wanna post
But im so damn lazy
why you put a hide on the camera ?
Cause its cool
bc of the sand ?
Rain + sand
you lens is not weather sealed ?
Ended up putting it over the screen too

After yesterday id rather protect it icl
Well ducks are gone
Imma start moving
Gonna try finding a new area around here
also big white lens
its kind of obvious to birds
not really actually they don't really care about color
if youre sneaking up on one i feel like it would be better to not be glowing
yeah but as i see when i hide they don't really care about the color but sure it's still better to have a lens coat to hide+prevent water/sand damage
Lovely weather
still sunny for me until Tuesday
sad weather from Tuesday onwards
Ok just followed all of u guys
Any idea on how to get more views
just post more?
I have no clue lol insta is cooked
i get 15 if im lucky
tiktok is a lot more predictable
15 likes not views
like 50-100 views
I think it’s easier if u have a niche for ur account like one type of photography only
i do astro, aircraft and wildlife
I can get decent views on TikTok sometikes
@scarlet tulip btw DXO PureRaw 6 is quite significantly better than PureRaw 5
How do, in detail terms?
better details, denoising itself is so so much better
there's almost no noise left with PureRaw 6
Excellent info, thanks
How do you find the quality of the detail versus 5? I notice it dies off a bit if i crop
quality of detail is better but it also takes a lot longer to denoise
2 or 3x longer

this video tests dxo 5 vs 6
1:15
lmao
i dont like how damn much he advertises his "next generation" masterclasses though
it gets to a point
yea bruh
every video
now he's also advertising this in person photography tour
like 3x aswell
i know that shit is a bajillion dollars already lol
his profile picture is so peak
could land a plane on that forehead
Dude yea bro is balding insanely badly
Hat saves him
Funny you say that because I always think he looks like mentour pilot
They're gonna stay on a private yacht in the Galapagos Islands, more like a gazillion dollars
or maybe he just has a huge brain
No, he’s still alright
do birds not like to come out when its windy?
They'll still come out, but will stay more sheltered from the wind
Huge crop but still good
i went out twice when it was windy and each time didn’t see a bird and they were just much quieter
Yeah the hard part is your patience
How long you will wait before getting the shot ?
Hide
Look for his favorite fishing branch
camp out for hours lol
i was planning for a maximum of 3 hours
maybe 4
sadly i dont have any camouflage like hides or blankets
But i know where to go
Then make sure to position urself somewhat hidden by brushes or something else, they can be skiddish or distrusting of u sit out in the open
I believe there's a lot of coverage where im going to be so ill try
there are barely any leaves right now though
For kingfishers it isnt
Its about kingfishers
Bro
Nah for good kingfisher photos you need a hide 99% of the time
I go stand up to walk towards kingfisher 30m away from me and the ducks 100m away from me start freaking out and flying away
And then I got to 20m and kingfisher I thought I scared him but he splashes in the water next second and comes up with a fish
Oh
Yeah well impossible for me
I would need to get in the 5m deep water
Closest I can get is like 5-10m to get them from the front
If it’s possible at your spot
But if you got one kingfisher at 3km of creek you are cooked
Not everyone has a place with many kingfishers
Kingfishers mostly hunt close to the ground (more branches)
The place where i will go has tons of spottings every year
and direct water access
😭
Mine had zero
Surprisingly i saw one pass by my local lake on my way to school a couple days ago
ive never seen one there
My city where I see more usually still had like almost none
Oh my god
My city’s life list
Zero kingfishers
I see kingfishers ther like very often flying
They are like fighter jets in a valley lol
imagine having to be patient to see a kingfisher
started putting up some perches for better pics
hopefully he'll start using them soon
she*
He'a very curious bird he can try it just after putting it
i've seen both the male and the female
male
haven't seen them for the past 2 days cause of the wind and rain
they hunt in the deeper parts of the river in these conditions and i just can't get a pic of them from further down the river
Was thinking about doing that
I heard that the newer it is the better since its a spot where they usually cant fish
i still cant believe a kingfisher let me get close to touching distance from it
lol
@magic crown i have some (sadly) blue camping chairs, do you think the colour would pose an issue?
for kingfishers
el borb
u printed da soft photo
I hear kingfishers
Lol i have hundreds around my house
I have 3 or 4 constantly flying around
Decided to leave before it start raining badly
Couldnt get close to the black swan cause the bridge to the area its at was broken by a flood in 2021 and never rebuilt
Did get some normal swans tho
Really?
How far from the ocean do you live?
2 mins
Yeah hours for me
But i see some everywhere really
The are hella rare especially if you live on the corner of tha region
My region has no gulls on its life list
And so every surrounding area
Oh bruh
Well apparently there are sightings close to me
But the ton of sightings are mostly months old
And on th Danube
And I live 30km from there
Oh man I hate eBird
I really wanna go back to this place i went to today
Hopefully ill be able to get good pics of the black swan
Two five days ago my bird of the day was a red kite, I saw my first of this year yesterday. Three days ago it was ruddy shelduck and I saw my first of the year two days ago. I see white wagtails everywhere at my home. Guess where I was yesterday when it was my bird of the day
Yeah
Never seen one
I have seen one wild flamingo in Germany though
They are rare
They are native to australia but some can escape captivity etc
Yeah
I just saw one red kite and two common buzzards circling each other
ive seen a kingfisher twice now but i was walking around, now i dont know where he went
should i build a perch?
You could, but I'd try to observe the area first and see if it's an actual hunting spot. Could also just be an area it flies through to get from hunting spot to hunting spot, not much use in putting up a perch then
What is that
Captain gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull, European herring gull or yellow legged gull?
They all look almost the same
Meanwhile, I cannot go outside a single day without spotting several of them
I barely take the time to aim my camera at them nowadays lol
Mediterranean gulls are sooo rare even though I live in the place named after them
This was the only time I managed to get one, and it was the first wild bird I ever got with my camera
captured a story
"Why am I even outside? It is late, weather is terrible, there is neither birds or light... oh wait!"
You can always count on ducks
6400 iso is tough though... had to handhold 1/60s at ~500mm
meme
this might be the weirdest phone processing i've ever seen
At 100x
These are the non ai
Camera image in comparison
Loading...
uploaded from phone so IQ not high but still
Yea, but ngl at 5-10x phone looks ok
BuT yOu CaNt CoMpArE a PoCkEt sIzEd PhOnE tO a GiAnT cAmErA
My camera is as a matter of facts pocket sized if you throw one of those pancake lenses on
And if I remove the strap
He doesn't have a 60x zoom on his phone...
Hahahahaha
pancake lens 800mm 1.8 when
I mean a phone doesn’t have that
So pancake lens on camera better than phone
thanks window screen
My friend asked how my times zoom my telephoto prime was
Say 30x
Only 30x!?!? What a waste of money. I should buy this so I get better pictures
30x zoom with a 22x lens on it lol
Atleast the macro lens is alright
I have a 16-300mm lens, so technically 19x zoom
It is surprisingly alright
@grizzled nebula did you get the black swan?
My bike has a puncture
Raining rn too
Saw a buzzard, black redstart and some white geese, heard woodpeckers from every angle but 0 pics
Got chased by a guard dog so that’s why I didn’t get a pic of the geese
Bro the lake cursed you or something frfr
💀 💀 💀
Worlds unluckiest wildlife photographer
thats like worse than me only getting my 1st kingfisher photo after almost 40 hours
I still havent gone to it
bro have a luck of a fucking bench

i chceked and the 5x zoom in phone is 120mm
so i just tell ppl my 500mm is about 4x the zoom of a 5x phone camera
LOL
you're actually cursed wtf
normal wide angle is aprox 24mm on phone so it's 1x zoom
so 600mm is 25x zoom
yea i just use 5x as reference because ppl already think that's pretty zoomed in lol
gonna try finding some swans tomorrow
i know there's some very close to where i live
2 mins away
gonna go back to the river where i got chased by a big dog
Big dogg
Lol
WTF THERE'S A BLACK SWAN 1 MIN AWAY FROM ME
but it's in a private domain
i'll ask the security person if he can let me in
Lmao
You have a secret spy satellite to spot birds from the sky?
With your luck he’s gonna kill u then smash ur lens on the ground
i know people that live there anyway
In Europe this don’t happen
t'as deja vu des cygnes noirs?
nope

oui
ici aussi
pire flex au monde mdr
1v10 mdrr
going to look for a new kingfisher tomorrow
imma go find a way to go along the river without being chased by a big ass dog
big day tomorrow even tho it's gonna rain
what the duck doin
i like
oh wow the seagulls in front too
very nice
I like bright edits but the highlights lost a lot of detail.
Yeah, I noticed that too ofc, wasnt sure how much of a balance i wanted to strike
It was misty and gross out so theres a decent bit of detail loss even at iso 200
If you lower white point by a lot, it reveals tons of feather details that are otherwise lost
I would use a luminance mask on the birds and try to recover as much as possible while keeping the scenery intact
I kindof like how it worked out on this one, not so much on the other. It felt really flattened out, like it was making everything a flat grey almost?
ty for the luminance mask tip though!
freaking nailed these shots today
yellow rumped warbler

...or maybe not, it looks better on my phone
future nugget
Damn, my PC screen sucks so much
it is
it's burned on my calibrated screen
it's not that big but still
my screen is shite
you really need a calibrated one
like i need to get a new one but i've been spending everything on gear lol
imma start sending it to my phone to check everytime i finish an edit
I have a cheap ultrawide gaming monitor
Don't think it covers 100% of any color space lol
not low enough
go swimming
mount camera to fpv drone
Mounting a four figures device to a drone...
I mean the drone can be just as expensive
prolly not
Sun was out 10 mins ago
u unlucky asl 😭

I honestly don’t mind high shots like this when the water is reflective
Not as good as water level but you can get some fun compositions on calm water
sun is back out lmao
High shots can be fun indeed
Reflect-a-duck
Same in Germany
better than before?
Waiting for kestrels
600mm f4 that big?
Man I never see these things irl
This is one of the smaller ones btw
didn't see any kestrels
saw a woodpecker but an helicopter scared it away
Im cursed
should be going to the lake tomorrow if everything goes to plan tho!
😭
u will never catch a break
nah
i actually cba rn
i can't do fuck all around my house
feather detail blown out
need to lower highlights
now that i've changed settings of my screen to match what it's actually meant to look like i see that most of my pics are overexposed
atleast it won't be an issue anymore
nice
Number 7 is really cool
Sick
how u be transporting it
bag
which
Thinktank Backlight 26L
barely fits
can only put camera and 600
aigh
cause it doesn't close
camera isn't in the bag
i removed the stuff on the right to fit it
nah u can fit more
no i cannot
isnt the top rounded
how tf the reverse orientation no work
the bottom is tighter than the top?
cause the bag is not deep enough
the top is deeper than the bottom
i have a small bump at the top
no
but the back is flexible at the top
well the "door"
idk how to explain it correctly
skul
Road to the lake is a death trap
Not going there
Nvm just google maps being dumb and sending me on a very dangerous road when theres another one thats very safe
i'm using waze next time
since i bought the 600 i've literally had 0 luck
sell it
buy the 14k one
More kingfishers on sunday this week
This time at 1c instead of 15c
i better not see that huge fookin dog when i go back to that river later
innit
It is
no good picture again today
can't even go to that place i know i'll find some cause it'll be flooded atm
willow tit ❤️
that pose is killing me he's so fluffy
2m away from long tailed tit autofocus said oh what a beautiful stick even though you set bird AF
average sony AF
i've seen some reviews saying sony sometimes gets distracted by other branches etc
True
even tho all cameras do that sony seems to be doing it a bit more
it's really good and probably the best for humans but for wildlife i think it's the worst between sony, nikon and canon
canon AF 🔥
(screenshot)
Yeah
BRUH
Here the a7 IV would have said what beautiful grass in the background
dxo 6 is so broken
i need to close the app in the task manager and re open for it to work
pure raw
K
the denoising is better than 5 but yh that startup issue is annoying
Literally the only way that I got images like this to be focused is centered af
Yeah
tbf i use that most the time
that's what u should use for small birds
Centered
which crop?
first one
Tbh do another one in the middle
it's good to have a good autofocus but if you don't know how to use it that's nothing

Bro my bird af is just gambling
Most of the time it doesn’t work
Why
cause i have a headache
you can't just put large+subject auto af and let's the thing work for you (except for very high end camera) you need to set settings about it
like spot af for bird wich turn to continuous af on eye for example
and idk why tf birds are so diffiult to find atm
Bro I did that 😭
atleast you have bird af
Well yet I have tried it on multiple birds and it only worked on close range for ducks
what camera you have ?

don't having bird af is not that bad
bro is still wrong
stop laughing 😭
it's eric
…
@tough hull the a7iv don't even have AI chip that's maybe why sometime your focus is not on it
Yeah
I wanna get a7 V so bad
But I need super telephoto too
My 300mm ain’t enough
me with my a6400

At least you got 900mm of zoom bro
not laughing at u, laughing at jule
i have the a6400 without a viewfinder
If you got light your setup is superior
Jul Tek
there's also this if the lens don't focus properly then nothing will lead properly
It’s pretty good ngl
@tough hull buy the 200-600 you wont regret it
I know
No sticks to distract AF
actually there is (magic of post prod)
sometime you just need too lead the camera and not let the camera doing everything
just get closer
but its true most of the time
Minimum focus is 1m
Yeah
i do
less
Bruh
yh but it's not wild so not fair
Tbh for that I would just put 2m of extension tubes on a telescope
especially with you
never saw someone with such a bad luck
bro can do every spot and he will find nothing that's crazy the nature is ragebating you
I recently got like within 10-15m of a flying red kite
that's what i want to do
just got a fox 30cm of me last week
my luck is undefeatable
maybe in the near future
i mean ur in the biggest wildlife hotspot in france

not really for fox
but for birds yeah
i've never seen in whole france such a number of species that large and close
went back to the river where i was chased by the dog last time and it turns out it's a private property
400+ species here that's wild af
that's almost the half of the wholes species present in france
tit
wtf
camargue is like a gaint nature reserve
Meanwhile my 30km are has 87species and narrow it down to 10km and it’s 47
Birds
it is
and it's just camargue now search the region Bouches-du-Rhones this is my playing area
p2w
i'm 3h away
book an airbnb

that's hurt
tiny camargue 30 mins away from me lol
how do i check how many species exist in my area
it's what i do when i go there
that's Bouches-du-Rhônes

there's everything a birder need
beach, mountains, forests, plains, swamps, rivers, large ponds
it's a goated place

we even have northen gannets it's fucking broken
barely 1% of what's there
(some of these were experimental so don't talk about the possible shitty edits)
