#How can I make money with nature and wildlife photography?

doing a vlog or something
there's a guy with an a1 and he's doing wildlife photography
he's like 20 years old
have contacts in national geographic
Hm
Have rich parents
...
Most often than not you have to be a decent writer to not only picture but also describe the lives of these wild animals
There are no events/marriages for wild animals. You pretty much have to either write articles or have financial support from somewhere
Probably the best thing to do is to find time and a way to go somewhere every now and then
assuming that you don't have daily access to such places
Would you recommend spending few hours in a bird watching tower in this time of the year in a northern country?
I have access to forests, 2 lakes and river
It's better to now where are nests, homes or ruts
Ah
Okay
But they really arent in the nests anymore
And at this time of the year they fly to the south
it's good to have bird watching tower next to water source cause that increases your chances
only potential problem can be people nearby
Yeah
cause then wildlife go there at night
And I wont
So
Should I walk in a nature path or should I go to a bird watching tower?
What type of forest is in your place?
ah so it is natural ig
It is
here pine forests are light af and everything runs away on sight (500-700m)
That sucks
well thick forest helps a lot, in one place I got 10m close to deers thanks to it
without camera
anyways nature path, silent steps and some blending clothes will do the thing faster
I’ve been wondering this exact same thing
You can always send it to some stock or similar service but you won't get enough money for living from it
If you don't have contacts I was talking about earlier, there are various ways in which you can try in order to get in touch with people in the industry. It's not easy nor obvious but if you are determined you have a chance
I the long run how will having contacts help you?
With them you will have way better chances for jobs and sponsorships. Without them your other chance is becoming relatively known in some social media. If you don't won't to do neither of that your only option is high quality portfolio + luck.
In average company they look at influencers and reccomended people more favorably
To sum up you either have to become entrepreneur selling your own work or find people that can help you do the same process (turning photos into money) without that much effort unrelated to photography
I have a good portfolio
@lilac valley I used this advice, and got in contact with a Nikon ambassador who’s done stories for natgeo, she followed me and commented on one of my photos and gave me some advice, which is awesome
That's nice, do you have a website or account on some portolio site where it's possible to see your pictures?
It’s all on my insta
I also have a portfolio linked on that insta
