Pulk/pull is good
You've been conditioned to believe how songs should sound
Smh
This world doesn't understand me
I gotta listen to Radiohead now
(also if I'm being real I do like ok computer)
(just don't tell kyrum)
🤫
never really listened
They're good
i tried listening to the mollusk but the sound just really ticked me off for some reason
Ughhh
it made me feel sick somehow
ive had it on my radar for a relisten, maybe i just wasnt feeling good that day
Too many people try to start with The Mollusk and it's one of their best but not my choice for people to start with
Because if they don't like The Mollusk they'll assume that's just what Ween sounds like and move on
The Mollusk is really quite unique from like any other Ween for the most part
Chocolate & Cheese or God Ween Satan are better introductions
GWS if you like messy recordings, C&C if you like clean ones
It's shows you more of what the band actually is
dawg if you knew anything about me I consider it the most overrated album ever
I am NOT a fan
I think hearing their work before The Mollusk gave me more respect for the album
I like it
It's just
Idk why I like
It's the most kinda done with everything sounding depressive album I've heard
I mean it's solid but I am the biggest hater
The music is really pretty
I'd probably love if if it wasn't considered like top 3 of all time
same problem I have with something like mario galaxy or botw
fighting words
YYAYYYYYY
then you don't know if they're bad....
(I'm jonkin)
jorkin it
in the stripped club. strait jorking "it". and by it i mean
well lets just say
my. peanits
so... the reason you dont like it... is because other people like it too much?
when everybody's too positive, sometimes you just gotta be the hater
dont u think that's a bit of a weird mindset
I don't presume radiohead fans are that positive tbh
nope, I like balancing things out to a level I think is adequate, ok computer is good but it's quality is way too exaggerated
well... explain!
I just did?
why you think the album's quality is exaggerated?
oh
because everytime I listen to it I can't fully enjoy it because while I do like it the hype kinda sours the experience
you shouldnt care THAT much abt what other ppl think
i think ppl exaggerate how good the beatles are but that doesn't mean i cant enjoy them
TRUE
they don't
john lemon on top
plus I'm fine doing it with something as popular for being good like ok computer is because I personally can't ruin perception for it so it's kinda nice to exaggerate my distaste
I mean if something is heralded as the best or one of the best of all time and I just thought it to be pretty good, that's gonna influence how I think about it
aren't you the same guy who got made at nostalgia critic for the same thing...
all I do is make offhand jokes about a band I ultimately like, nostalgia critic made a 45 minute horrendous parody album that does nothing but complain and complain about something he dislikes in annoying voices with annoying autotune, it's not the same thing at all
you should've done what he did and I'd respect you more
well if I did I would at least try to make a listenable album
it is listenable
I cannot fathom how anyone could think that
i think its listenable
i even enjoyed a few tracks just from a musical perspective
my opinion on you has actually changed
that... sounds like a you problem man
thats insane
I mean yeah, it is a personal problem I don't like something, that's how opinions work
what i mean is that ur problem with the album has nothing to do with the album
it does
it seems more based on how the album is received by others
I think it's just pretty decent that's fairly flawed and far from perfect, which is against the reputation of the album
i agree its annoying when you see ppl overhype things you just dont really get but i dont see why reception would make you actively enjoy something less
i used to let annoying classic rock fans ruin the beatles for me
I don't really enjoy it less, I just can't see myself praising it like others
but listening to music is much more enjoyable when you just pay no mind to anyone else
kinda can't really do that with one of the most popular and highly regarded albums ever
im doing it with literally the most popular band to ever exist
I mean you're putting in the effort to ignore those people and get rid of the previous opinions you had
whadt
but it doesn't really matter that I'm showing my negative opinions on something more than I would other things because I don't like the amount of praise it gets, it's an album I like that I make jokes about and criticize, it's not a big deal
Why is it bad
why is what bad
ok computer
if we just jokin around its different but i thought you genuinely disliked it just because other people do like it
it's not!! I've been saying this the whole time!! I literally just said it too!!
what songs drag it down for oyu?
have you heard the ever so underrated track let down?
none of them
they're good songs
but just good
not really that great or amazing
paranoid android...
fuckin
airbag

incredible sound
got to 50 🥶🥶
probably gonna spend more time relistening to certain albums tbh but idk how long that will last because listening to new music is so awesome
true altho ive been doing a lot of relistens lately
same
mainly to reassess but also if I've forgotton most of it or just feel like it
I've relistened to american football and in the aeroplane over the sea proabably like 4 times each in the past 3 weeks and I like them a little more each time
itaots is peak
its 4th all time for me so not very far
popular = bad so correct
didn't say it was bad
if you let people's opinions influence your opinions on music idk if there should be that many opinions that should be coming in like that
I mean it only influences my opinion in that I put up a persona for fun to hate on it, I only do it in this server too, it's not realyl a big issue
anyways, got to 60
how was a lonely sinner?
damnn
BJORK!!!!!
Yes
ram at #2 is extremely based ngl
all of it is based ngl
too much radiohead
also i didnt know you liked idwtgu more than mgtc
no i somehow missed that
ngl
im blind
reached 70
I should listen to that doors album
yeah
top 25 alltime
Ahhh
More albums I've heard for the first time in listening order. Any recommendations
You heard any ween?
Yeah I've heard
Pure Guava
Chocolate and Cheese
The Mollusk
And Quebec
You like em?
Those are my top 4 from ween
Yeah definitely
Check out God Ween Satan next, it has so many ween classics
Ok thx!
Birthday Boy is my favorite song of all time, it's on that album
hm what are some of your fav genres/artists/albums etc
I'm fine with anything really, besides like prog or county
ever listened to Black Country, New Road?
Heard of them, never listened
they're one of the best artists of this decade for sure, their album Ants From Up There is in my top 10 albums its beyond fantastic
i even got the vinyl :D
Cool! should I start with that one?
both of their albums are amazing, that's my favorite but their two albums are pretty different
if you like more punky and spoken word and crazy stuff go their first album, if you like more sung and lush and beautiful and high emotional go ants from up there
but both are must listens and in my top 20 favorites of all time
I'll probably go in chronological order then
ok then! :)
Thanks for the suggestion!
of course!! happy listening <3
Country is good
meh
alt-country sure
there are some utterly fantastic alt-country albums
but bluegrass isn't really a style i indulge in
I like Ween
's
country
and songs from the fallout new vegas soundtrack
along with some johnny cashh
I dunno, I liked Gunfighter Ballads and will also check out Cash, but I feel I've heard too much country when i was young. what are some other good country albums?
12 Golden Country Greats by Ween
K, I'll add that after listening to GodWeenSatan
Magnolia Electric Co. by Songs: Ohia is my personal favorite
alt-country / country rock
There's also a lot of country esc stuff on Beck's Stereopathetic Soulmanure, I think it's classified as alt country
or smth
It's labeled as anti-folk, which a lot of his stuff is but tbh there is a much stronger country sound
Ok I'll add those too, thx!
That's the top ranked country album by rym
Urm basiccc
tee hee
funny!
it is for a reeeasonnnn
have you heard it
Will check out
good :)
I've gotta hear this too I like big iron
american water by silver jews is also pretty good but i don't return to it much
yeah that sounds good
Yeah it's a good listen
Ween's given me the appreciation for country, I like all their country songs
do you like them because you like the sound or because it's ween
I like the sound genuinely
It's one of my favorite genres to hear them do
I find them quite catchy
that's good
They got 12 professional Nashville country musicians to record near all the instruments on the album
besides like 2 solos played by gener and deaner
I think there was actually more than 12
the 12 was because there were 12 songs originally, 2 got cut for b sides, and the name stuck and that was used as like an explanation
i think the fact that it says theres 12 but theres only 10 just makes it even funnier
same
after a week of being away progress has commenced again
topping my ster

very solid but I probably gotta relisten to appreciate it more
its one of my favorites
gonna update my top 100 now
it'll probably take a while 😭
i have 3 hours..
ngl completely forgot to add bizarro by the wedding present when I listened to it
weezer amnesiac joy division special goodness descendents pink floyd ozma afut
are my favs off it
good topster
me like
afut?
ohhhhh
august topster forgot to censor
Dawg WHERE is monduns debut mixtape wtf
sorry bud
first album of the month, will share my opinions when I finish
also had no idea george clinton was a feature on this???
that's awesome
pretty peak
yay!!
#1 for a reason...
on the last few songs and definitely agree, not necessarily a 5 for me but it's really close and I could see it going higher on a future relisten
!!
okay wait hold on these last few songs bring it up to a 5 this is some fantastic stuff
I like the single version of i more but I also really love the album version
incredible album
correct!!
second favorite hip hop album behind madvillainy now
first day
thoughts on bleach and sex pistols
sex pistols was pretty mid and bleach I liked a little more than nevermind
sex pistols is meh yeah
god save the queen and anarchy in the uk are great but everything else is kinda lame
i think we listened to no new york on the same day
yeah we did
ok buddy sure
what was your ranking of the bands on there
for me it was
contortions > dna > mars > teenage jesus & the jerks
dna > the contortions > mars > teenage jesus and the jerks
understandable
25!!
50!!
pink moon!!
mid!!
fuck you!!
it was okay but like I don't get the hype at all
the first 2 albums were way better as well
listening to bryter layter today but i already know you're wrong ngl
fa infinity thoughts?? one of my favorite albums
really really good
closest of my 4.5's to being a 5 on rym tbh, probably gonna jump to it on an eventual relisten
spiderland was good but I didn't like it as much as both, ep was great I liked it a lot
at least you liked :D
progress has been slow mainly because I've been watching a lot of doctor who tbh
how to leave town thoughts
top 10 ep's
panpeako
pretty good
I thought it was weaker than both versions of twin fantasy but I still liked it
my top eps
Is this your albums listened this month ranked
Wouldn't mind joining in
66 isn't bad at all, currently at 91 pretty sure
not ranked, just the order of when I listened to them
I do recommend doing it though as it's a good way to catalog and has ultimately led to me refining my music taste
all of the new stuff was yesterday + I forgot to put the flaming lips album on it when I first listened
Yo Ride are an amazing band
yeah
did you like 2112
yeah
did you fw fishmans live
yeah of course
thoughts on science fiction
peak
very good but was a little hard to really love
I'll probably like it more when I get around to listening to more ambient
fair enough
if you want some more dense ambient i 100% rec tim hecker
radio amor is my fav ambient album
he's canadian 🤢
i wish you had fm because i would 100% .from canada @abstract crag
!
i would make fun of you for tom macdonald but i also have him in my thing because i gave facts a 1 star
yeah tbh
not even .5???
.co nostalgia critic's the wall
plus at least facts was like miniscully funny if only for the fact that robot ben shapiro outrapped tom macdonald on his own song
ngl I was looking and I'm 100% shocked you don't have a single ambient album as a 5
besides 85-92 but that's under ambiet techno
i do have 1 but its not really true ambient
i looooooooove ambient but idk there hasn't been one that's like truly hooked me
.co the fire this time
its like part ambient part idm with spoken word over it
legit one of the most harrowing and engaging things i've ever heard
even more shocked green day father of all is only a 1, you're like their biggest hater
i would absolutely recommend
there are enemies greater than pop punk...
like the thing that sepeartes nctw from anything else
i can't even make fun of it
its a void
there's nothing there
keep seeing it pop up idk if I'm ready yet tbh
i can make fun of father of all and say that its minor league baseball game fodder
i understand but keep it in the back of your head
also stop at the instrumentals they don't really mean much when you do
true but also I gotta say I do fully think these all deserve a .5
wdym
its just instrumentals
of the songs that have already happened
because its like a story of the gulf war
oh so stop the album then
yeah yeah at least for like rating purposes
if you wanna hear the instrumentals go for it
okay
genuinely haven't heard much of these
i've never wanted to hear the chainsmokers in my life
fucking terrifying band
ngl kinda sucks that coldplay went from pretty good to worst band ever upon entering the 2010's
Their pop era isn't the worst
Lots of solid tracks
Their current era is kinda terrible though
It's a miracle they managed to make Coloratura given the rest of the songs on music of the spheres
isnt anything thoughts
pretty good has a lot of highlights and is consistent but definitely far from loveless
idk why I didn't get a ping for this
also another update
true true i agree with your statement
good album but not quite loveless
m b v (the album) is mid
they released a bunch of eps and mini albums before that
some are alright
best one is ecstasy
yeah planning on listening to them soon
lemme rank all mbv shit
- loveless duh
- isnt anything (tie)
- ecstasy (tie)
- m b v
- geek
- the new record
- this is
i think theres like one ep i havent heard yet but otherwise thats all of them
wait theres actually a ton of eps i havent heard
might binge those tn
yeah I was planning on binging you made me realize, feed me with your kiss, glider, and tremolo at some point
trying my hand at this
is this all time
albums/eps in august 2024
makes sense
is this including relistens?
Yeah would be pretty crazy if blue wasn't a relisten lol
Blue and Ride - Going Blank Again are the obvious classics for me
Nonagon Infinity is probably my favourite new listen though
i've always herad going blank again was really good
i may need to listen really soon i've heard Nowhere
i do need to check out gizz too...
did you listen to the eps that are usually bonus tracks on nowhere
i have not if they're separate eps can you send my the rym so i can listen and rate in a bit
imma bout to eat
honestly liked these more than nowhere
more consistent
thx youuuu!!
albums that i enjoyed or liked, thoughts?
EMINEM 🔥
Dummy and homogenic the GOATS
Need to hear music for 18 musicians
i need to peep the rem but duster is BASED
its great
needs way more r.e.m. tbh...
automatic for the people is maybe their best album but erm chronic town, murmur, reckoning, and lifes rich pageant are kinda super duper peak tbh...
also way too much radiohead
kara's flowers 🔥
update
how were the mbv eps
fantastic, mid, great, fantastic. in that order
alright awesome
if i ever have the chance to listen to music again in my life ill check them out
also check out ecstasy if you get the chance, its not on spotify tho
yeah ik, I'm planning on it
yeah what I've figured
I'll eventually listen after I hear m b v as well just to finish off the discography
ngl I don't know what's new listens and stuff but there's some good albums on here
I gotta relisten to that asian kung fu generation ep
I doubt I'll listen to anything else today but still I'll wait to post my topster till I'm sure
kyrum did you see my topster..

thoughts..
doesn't like nirvana album tbh
anyways here's my 100
and the month (doubt I'll listen to anything else once I finish surfer rosa)
what'd you think of what's the story morning glory
i do like in utero more
iu is on a level above i think
yea it is
but afut and goblin are peak
afut emotionally destroyed me and i love edgy shit so i loved goblin also tylers flows were fucking fire
i find myself repeating lines from that album under my breath a lot which isnt good ngl because 80% of the lines are about sex or murder
sometimes both
I'm stupid sorry
quality sucks
how was aphex
does it still suck
really solid
a little but its legible
actually no its not that was a lie it looks like hieroglyphs
this is what I see
ngl maybe this will look decent if not I'll just delete the other images
surprisingly good low 8
I love the album a lot
i should listen
i unironically enjoy wonderwall tbh
today
is gonna be the day
wonderwall I like but it's overplayed
biggest highlights: kendrick lamar, to pimp a butterfly; alvvays, blue rev; nirvana, bleach; fishmans, orange, corduroys mood, king master george, otokotachi no wakare; john coltrane, a love supreme; r.e.m. lifes rich pageant, document; parannoul, sky hundred; blur, 13; advantage lucy, station; voxtrot, raised by wolves; the bats, daddys highway; the cleaners from venus, midnight cleaners; solid space, space museum; the clean, boodle boodle boodle; television, marquee moon; godspeed you black emperor, f#a#infinity; built to spill, perfect from now on, keep it like a secret; parliament, motor booty affair; david bowie, heroes; ride, nowhere, fall, today forever; miles davis, sketches of spain; duster, stratosphere; the microphones, the glow pt 2; ornette coleman, science fiction; the go betweens, liberty belle and the black diamond express, victrola 1982 - 1983; mission of burma, signals, calls, and marches; my bloody valentine, you made me realize, tremolo; teenage fanclub, bandwagonesque; pavement, watery domestic; the stone roses, s/t; robert turman, way down
also you guys were right surfer rosa is super overrated
ooh bandwagonesque is cool
haven't really listened to them much but it does sound like green era weezer
green if it was better than just okay tbh...
a lot of people like grand prix more but I think bandwagonesque was a little bit better
i don't ever hear wonderwall just walking around ngl
i genuinely hadn't heard it in years
this is legit so based
wonderwall is soooooo good
OBVIOUSLY‼️
I mean it's not really played nowadays but when you have a song get to the point of the 'here's wonderwall' joke, it's still under the overplayed status in the general zeitgeist
also what do you guys think
lmfao i mean ok
i fw
pinkerton over blue made me splooge a bit
i like it a lot
i fw the descendents and the joy div as well
it kinda was last month too 🙄
first of the month tbh
singles
the sidewinder sleeps tonite??
I mean it's a great r.e.m. song but I wouldn't think it'd be the only song to be on something like this
im your daddy/ beverly hills live is diabolical
true
since I turn 16 soon, heres my fav album from each year ive been alive
The Peggy album is the only thing I’ve listened to this year
Idk what else dropped this year
should do that too
did it too
Replace veteran with deep dark trench
I totally forgot it came out in 2018
😂😂
i'll do this as well
ik im late but like yeah
the question is do you think imaginal disk is overrated
not really, I rated it a 4 but I could see it becoming a 4.5, and I think the rym chart spot it has is mostly deserved
I wasn't as big on brat as most people but this album did reach that enjoyment for me
high 8 for me i agree
but like
105 all time is delusional
kinda true actually I meant like year charts
its like #8 for this year for me
i wouldn't say no to it being #1 tho
it's definitely top 3 for me, only contenders so far for being above it are sky hundred and a lonely sinner
my 100s
ngl I think my only perfect albums are like remain in light, long season, and ram
Latest topster of albums I've heard for the first time in listening order, any recs?
yo howd you like mothership connection
It was very good
I heard maggotbrain a while ago
nice
I definitely recommend free your mind by funkadelic and funkentelechy vs the placebo syndrome by parliament
Ok, thx!
wifi sucks so bad I can't even download the image
is bjork good
yeah
holy shit OMD
ok i don't really remember the album much but souvenir is such a great song
whyd you listen to the smile theres still rh you havent heard
anyways i imagine to someone who doesnt like radiohead much that the smile mustve been absolute torture because even as a huge rh glazer i think its mid
it was better than pablo honey at least
I mean they are disconnected enough I thought it was fine
yea its fine fs just an odd choice
ive still only heard two thom solo albums
both werent the best
a moon shaped pool is my personal favorite
in rainbows is their best imo but i probably enjoy amsp more, rh is probably the only band where i actively separate my favorite and what i think is the best idk why
weezer's like that for me tbh
blue and pinkerton are their best but ewbaite just has a special place in my heart and is an easy 3rd
oh yea and joy division
mainly because after listening to the mid of red and raditude and the trash of hurley my ears were graced with an amazing album
unknown pleasures is their best i enjoy closer more
I think they're pretty close anyways
broke the cycle yea
same fs
but almost every other band i can think of i would consider their best and my favorite pretty much the same
😈
the main ones are, kill em all, killing is my business, paranoid, badmotorfinger, dirt, system of a down, rage against the machine, around the fur, and hybrid theory
most of these are like 40 or 50 minutes though so it'll take a while
killing is my sucks fucking ass ness ngl
listen to the good megadeth album tbh (rust in peace)
anyways yea those are all great picks
I might but I also wanna see hoe they started
I might do peace sells
idk
not good is how they started tbh
idk im like the one guy who doesnt like megadeth everyone else is obsessed with them so take my opinions with a grain of salt
but i fucking hate those first two albums lmao
erm also the main reason I chose that one tbh is that it's 30 minutes so a lot easier to listen to in quick succession of other metal 😭
most metals like 35-40 tbh
metallica sorta a standout
probably the first metal band to do long songs tbh
wait what because like every album I chose is like 40+ 💀
also just realized peace sells is 35 so not bad at all
paranoids like 40 i think
idk how long badmotorfinger is because i didnt care for it too much
i did care for dirt but i still dunno how long it is maybe 50ish
soad is 40
id imagine ratm is around 40
hybrid theory is roughly 35
around the fur is complicated
because theres like 30 minutes of silence and then a hidden track
so i actually dunno exactly how long it is but if i had to guess probably 45-50
50, 30, 42, 57, 57, 40, 52, like 45 or something with the nothing before the bonus track removed, 39
maybe but probably later on after this initial batch
alr
anyways when youve listened to most or all of this ask me about some extreme shit
death metal type shit
alrighty old pal o' mine
gojira interests me because of the godzilla name reference
banger cover tbh
for sure
it was actually my first dm album
i enjoyed it
but id say the sound of perseverance by death was the reason i got into the genre
ngl you should listen to some jangle pop albums
yea prolly
want some suggestions
sure
r.e.m. - chronic town, murmur (both pretty post-punk as well and fantastic)
the smiths - the queen is dead (if you haven't already)
lloyd cole and the commotions - rattlesnakes
the sundays - reading, writing, and arithmetic
the church - starfish
the dream syndicate - the days of wine and roses
kind of a more varied selection but I think you'd like most of these pretty well
the smiths album is pretty cool
ill try to get to the rest soon but i have an utterly diabolical backlog of shit to listen to and less time than ever to listen to music so it could be a while
oh also underwater moonlight by the soft boys if you get a chance
yeah I completely understand I currently have like a constantly replenishing 40 tabs open on my phone of albums to listen to
my queue got so full i had to start searching albums and leaving them in my history to remember to listen to them
then that ended up getting full as well 😭 i had to resort to saving albums and then searching them in my library so they saved to my library history
😭
updated 10's
idk if id call schlongenheim a 10
definitely wouldn't call kid a a 10
tbh only heard that and the aphex twin one off here
of the albums on here i know i wouldnt consider any a 10
altho downward spiral is closest
a high 90 prob
maybe 95
I think these might be mine, I'm not entirely sure, also the top 4 are the only ones I'd consider just straight up 100% perfect no flaws at all
i wasnt a fan of madvillainy tbh
60
whatd you overall think of peace sells
pretty good but kinda boring and the b side was mid
i dont hate megadeth i just see no reason to ever listen over metallica or slayer
i tend to over exaggerate my hate for them because it will never not bug me that all metalheads are obsessed with megadeth and i feel like the one guy who doesnt get it and that really pisses me off
that's always annoying
i know someone who's favorite metal band is megadeth and thats honestly the only time i can say that someone elses music taste has made me genuinely angry
ig in a way i get how you feel abt radiohead
oh yea, is retreat from the sun good
i liked the first two albums
The Joyce manor and motion city soundtrack albums are great albums
wait yeah
yeah it's really good
better than the other two
yeah I figured it wasn't that but still
yes thoughts
TRUE

Did you like viva la vida?
it was good, idk how I hadn't listened to it yet considering I owned it on cd for almost a year now
Geek! Fan 👍
Yeah that one wasn't too crazy but I didn't find it bad
Is the actual buddy holly good
yeah
the chirping crickets are too but not as much
(that's his band btw if you don't know)
Nice shoegaze run from just for a day to kitchens of distinction
The new cure is really good as well
actually everything inbetween the last 2 tyler albums are shoegaze
hopefully you can read this better
Oh yeah thanks

here's mine

is this last month
anyways, alvvays, igor, the pop, free your mind, mellon collie, and franz ferdinand are all great
Just when I had time
the fourth world is a cool album
more people should know about it
a third of your list is like artists i've been meaning to check out but just haven't had the opportunity to lol
Which artists?
Alvvays, Smashing Pumpkins, Kendrick I've put off longer than I should
Songs ohia, beatles, ELO, Fiona Apple, XTC, Franz Ferdinand are also stuff I've been meaning to listen to
You can send recommendations from these artists if you want
Alvvays-Debut
Smashing Pumpkins-Siamese Dream or Mellon Collie
Kendrick-To Pimp A Butterfly
Song Ohia-Mongolia Electric Co
Beatles-Abbey Road or Revolver
ELO-Eldorado
Fiona Apple-When The Pawn..
XTC-Drums and Wires
Franz Ferdinand-Self Titled
That is a lot of swans
I like the emo/pop punk/death cab run of albums
Are the jeff rosenstock band albums good?
Someloves! 👍
I need to hear Triffids but I know they’re Aussie 🇦🇺
Kitchens Of Distinction 👍
Speaking of Someloves I should make a topster of just Power-Pop
70s, 80s and 90s have such different but great sounds in Power-Pop
I made this a few weeks ago and could definitely add more, but yeah
(1 album per artist)
Otherwise it would be just XTC and Gary Numan
Slick
Makes me wanna move and belt out the words almost everytime
Not on here, because of 1 album per artist but Panama City Hotel is my fav off Sugar: Easy listening.
The timing of finding Sugar is so annoying.
I didn't want to bother my brother taking me and my friend to a concert in short notice and probably couldn't of gotten tickets anyway.
He was in Melbourne 3 days ago...
I need to hear Husker-Du as well (I've New Day Rising and liked that)
Apparently he's played Copper Blue in full before
RIP to that show but maybe in the future
still gotta listen to that primal scream album
also uchu nippon setagaya lets go!!
one of my favorite albums of all time
Yeah it's an amazing album
biggest highlights: duster, contemporary movement; the microphones, mount eerie, microphones in 2020; silver jews, american waters; modest mouse, the moon and antarctica; built to spill, ultimate alternative wavers, ancient melodies of the future; mount eerie, winds poem, a crow looked at me, now only, night palace; lync, these are not fall colors; the wrens, seacaucus, the meadowlands; the dismemberment plan, emergency and i; kleenex girl wonder, ponyoak; mass of the fermenting dregs, s/t, world is yours; brave little abacus, just got back from the discomfort; my chemical romance, three cheers for sweet revenge; pinback, s/t; life without buildings, any other city; death cab for cutie, transatlanticism; the arrogant sons of bitches, three cheers for disappointment; swans, cop, public castration is a good idea; self, subliminal plastic motives; the postal service, give up; sheena ringo, shouso strip; wire, chairs missing; wipers, youth of america; unwound, fake train; seatbelts, cowboy bebop soundtracks
Hell yeah mj lenderman and english teacher
They're in my top 10 albums of the year
Didn't see automotion as well
Haven't listened to a lot of their stuff but they seem cool
You must like swans
they're pretty alright
I'm just going through their discography in order because it all seems interesting and I didn't want to start with their later more well known albums
though white light from the mouth and the great annihilator were both really good
I've thought about listening to them but damn even the length of their songs and albums are pretty intimidating
Thoughts on the mbv EPs?
first one just alright, geek is pretty mediocre, the new record is decent, sunny sundae smile pretty good but the title track easily the best, strawberry wine is great, and ecstasy is pretty solid
I'd probably rank their discography as
- you made me realize
- loveless
- tremolo
- glider
- isn't anything
- strawberry wine
- ecstasy
- sunny sundae smile
- feed me with your kiss
- the new record by my bloody valentine
- this is your bloody valentine
- m b v
- geek
fishmans mentioned!!
been meaning to listen to a few of these (samurai, kids see ghosts, meddle, and young team)
samurai is pretty good
the title track is really catchy
KSG and young team are just really cool vibes
meddle is probably the weakest of those, echoes basically outshines everything else imo
Peaksaur jr
happy new year!!!
biggest highlights: sufjan stevens, illinois; wilco, summerteeth; black country new road, live at bush hall; purple mountains, s/t; unwound, new plastic ideas; wire, 154; modest mouse, building something out of nothing; broken social scene, you forgot it in people; swans, white light..., the great annihilator; elliott smith, either/or, xo; moss icon, lyburnum wits end liberation; portishead, dummy; woody guthrie, dust bowl ballads; jeff rosenstock, worry; vincs guarlaldi, a charlie brown christmas; slowdive, souvlaki
Another topster of albums I've listened to for the first time. Thoughts/recommendations?
of the big four of britpop you're only missing suede on this list
who i like a lot
so maybe worth checking out
though as always important to remember britpop never really sounded too similar
What album by Suede is a good staring point?
I don't know their discog too well outside of it but Coming Up has a lot of bangers
Ok thank you!
Favorite albums of all time in no real specific order(its basic I'm sorry)
xtc woohoo
gotta appreciate viva la vida and 13
oh yeah also I literally just listened to insomniac for the first time today
Thoughts?
very consistent, not a ton of huge standouts though, better than american idiot, not as good as dookie
topster of albums I've listened to for the first time². Thoughts/recommendations?

what's that nirvana one though is it like a bootleg or live show or something because I know they have a rome show that's fairly well known
and how's apple venus 2
Roma is a soundboard boot yes
From 94 I think
Not as good as AV 1 but id still recommend
yeah that's what I've heard
I'm really happy I found a copy of apple venus 1 on cd but I still haven't listened to it yet, wanna save them for last and I still gotta listen to nonsuch in full
AV is great, Nonsuch is too
oh yeah speaking of xtc I listened to the big express
Thoughts?
I feel it's probably the most underrated xtc album
I gotta relisten to that Mummer and O&L
I wasn't too big on mummer and o&l definitely had to grow on me outside of the singles
yeah, that, wonderland, deliver us from the elements, and especially great fire are really good but the rest didn't really live up to it in my mind
What's your favorite XTC album so far
My top 3 is
Black Sea
Skylarking
Drums and Wires
nice
go2 is probably the weakest one, it kinda feels like the leftovers of white music though it still has some good songs
Crowded Room and Jumping In Gomorrah are my favorites of that one
It probably feels like WM 2 because it came out the same year
yeah
once every few weeks we can revive the best part of weezercord
true, I'll probably listen to something else so I'll send mine later
I haven't listened to magnolia electric co. yet but I like the songs ohia album I gave heard
the lioness I think
kimono my house, sol-fa, and the fall ep go hard, also been meaning to check out sigur ros and chinese football
the chinese football EP is short and a pretty good introduction to them
!!

Thoughts and recommendations?
violent femmes!! peak album. ngl in terms of dukes of stratosphear I really like 25 o clock but I don't care for psonic psunspot at all really, the fugazi eps are good, haven't heard takanaka yet for some reason, slouvaki is awesome
unfortunately i now have much less time to listen to music
this looks so pathetic compared to just a month ago lol
dang, at least ride, talking heads, and ozma are peak
also isn't that first album the band maroon 5 was before maroon 5? or am I misremberinng
yeah it is
i think soap disco (song from the album) is probably worth a listen but i don't really remember anything else from it
the biggest highlights are: songs ohia, ghost tropic, didn't it rain; aphex twin, selected ambient works ii; heavy vegetable, frisbee; thingy, songs about...; penguin cafe orchestra, music from the penguin cafe; harold budd, the pavilion of dreams; current 93, of ruine or some blazing starre, all the pretty little horses; john coltrane, africa/brass, ole coltrane, coltrane; wes montgomery, incredible jazz guitar; sun ra, lanquidity; getatchew mekuria & the ex, moa anbessa; soutaiseiriron, chiffon capitalism, hi-fi anatomia; advantage lucy, oolt cloud

if you liked heavy metal and 3d country listen to 4d country it's not as good but still worthwhile, also how is we are urusei yatsura
We Are Urusei Yatsura is decent
I'm super into underground, weird, unknown music, none of that stuff you normies like. I doubt any of you guys would recognize a single album on this topster. I'm just so different..
@hasty shore
the biggest highlights are: swans, the beggar, birthing; suicide, alan vega - martin rev; fugazi, red machine; songs ohia, the magnolia electric co.; xtc, nonsuch; nico, chelsea girl; daniel johnston, 1990; r stevie moore, phonography; bjork, homogenic

Thoughts/Recs? Albums/EPs I listened to for the first time in listening order from May 19 to today
I feel like you should mention what you liked best so there's some direction
Some cool bands on here for sure though
Version 2.0, Spiderland, I'm Wide Awake It's Morning, Something Else, Arthur, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Bone Machine, 12 Golden County Greats, This Is Hardcore, Vampire Weekend, White Light From The Mouth Of Infinity, Fantastic Planet, Ruby Vroom, Random Access Memories
Recs and thoughts? The stuff I liked the most is the second pic.
for stuff like kind of blue I reccomend some earlier coltrane albums like my favorite things, africa / brass, and ole coltrane, alongside in a silent way by miles davist too. listen to made of stone by the stone roses and technique by new order if you haven't, also american waters by silver jews and purple mountains self titled. since I left you is really really good but I haven't heard too much else like them but maybe you would like the go team idk
there's some solid stuff here I've grown to really like the stone roses
July
New topster plus list of albums I liked the most. Thoughts and/or recs?
listen to fleet foxes second album I think it's an improvement
