Tommy is a foster cat. He was in a bad way at the shelter. Not really thriving, I was actually there to pick up another cat that wound up having a medical event happen right after I walked in the door.

We wanted to find another cat to foster after Malcolm, our previous Foster found a home. I found Tommy there and texted my SO about him. There was something wrong with his arm, they weren't sure what, it was causing him pain and he was unable to walk properly.

We decided to take him on as we had all the things necessary to take care of a sick cat already in place. Since May he's been steadily getting better (and chunkier!) though the issue with his arm won't ever heal fully.

We're not a hundred percent sure of what the actual issue is, however the shelter has assured us that his leg needs to be removed in order for him to be fully out of pain and able to move as normally as he can. I'm going to be dropping him off this Wednesday at 9 am for the procedure and picking him up in the evening.

God Emprah willing everything will go well and we can continue to help him heal and thrive.

Tommy surgery was a success. Though he's very grumpy, I think I would be too in his place. He seems to be having a paradoxical reaction to the pain meds and sedition. Also to have them look over his incision site which is still healing etc. They gave him a long acting anti-biotic and some additional anti-inflammatories. Also some drops for his eye to see if it helps stop the weeping. It may not do anything though as it can be caused by feline FHV, in which case it won't really ever go away.

Well he kinda didnt have a choice, when we got him from the shelter as a foster his right arm was injured. He had a hair line fracture that got infected before he was picked up and it destroyed his shoulder. So they had to remove that arm. He was on a lot of drugs so putting the shirt on him was easy and he got used it being on him because of the drug haze.

Thankfully he doesn't need it anymore now that his incision is healed as of a few days ago.

We got two sizes, one single xl and one double, the single xl shirt bother him enough that he tried to chew the right arm sleeve off it. So we moved up a size and he seemed fine after that.
