It's my personal headcanon that they aren't quite literal cats but just lankier fuzzier humans with better nightvision. A society as puritan as the Imperium is about what a "normal and correct" human is would find even minor discrepancies like that unacceptable. But also. I am totally down for khajiit in 40k

I think all the guard models are gorgeous. I am just a greedy creature that wishes for more diversity in the model pool. Esp since in every single guard book regiments are often described to be as diverse as the planets theu hail from. Ofc many are cadia copycats because the formula works but there's just so many different and cool things going on in lore the models just don't showcase

I'd also say start with big shapes and work on refining them as you go :] to help get a sense of shape/lighting/colour

Don't be afraid to leave detail implied to work on the overall look either, sometimes I'll sketch+colour+sloppily apply lighting and effects, then blur the whole sketch and start painting/rendering atop it so I don't get stuck on the details of the sketch

I highly recommend this method for posing or a Hybrid of it, helps getting those dynamic poses

I do have my own version I use

An easier way to get into rendering and apply shaded colors well is by copying your flat colored layer and adjusting them to be darker, more saturated, color corrected, etc. Then, erase where the shading ends. You can do the same for light sources afterwards as well.

I would also suggest lightening opacity so it isn't too dark looking/hard to read

I don't find the Hammer & Bolter writing to be good most of the times. The characters are all very cliché, most of the episodes are very predictable and very linear.

The only one I liked the writing of was In the Garden of Ghosts. For most of the others, I had the feeling that they were written not to tell compelling stories but to present aspects of the universe to beginners, which they do well.
