As a slopic
thats because hes the first returning primarch and aryan posterboy
the Lion is a somber generic arthurian larper
he'll get his turn
they really did make him calm down in his older days
and what about the last bequin novel
i want valdor back
Yeah Abnett said as much, its in storage until GW wants to release it
He should go mope on a rock some more.
I wonder what that implies
Prob was written with some big lore implications that arent gonna be released yet. GW tends to do that sometimes with books tied to updates
i mean if it really is constantin valdor with an army of blanks and custodes i suppose its valid that theyre waiting+
also maybe eisenhorn in the 42nd millenium?
Wow he'd be old
I was putting off the bequin books til it was done, but I guess I should read it
the bequin books are SO good
Maybe he'll live in a robot like that guy from his book
Oh damn him becoming Glaw would be funny
I would like Child of Chaos, Inheritor, Shadows of the Past, Vox Dominus and The Tallyman to be audiobooks
Alas
did you just list the word bearer series or am i interpreting too much
i mean valid, they got some insaley good characters
These are all WB shorts
Vox Dominus and Tallyman follow Marduk from the Reynolds Trilogy
Inheritor is about Torquill Eliphas
Shadows of the Past is Corax dueling Lorgar
Child of Chaos is the Erebus feature
erebus..
Truth spoken
Love the guy
I will never like erebus
Fair
look what he did to my boy garviel bro
He freed Garviel from watching his brothers Abaddon, Hellas and Azelas being murdered despite their surrender
that was such an insane plot twist aS WELL
Not the fact that he killed garvy but that killing garvy created Samus
that actually made me audibly gasp
still hope erebus dies for that sorry man
He never will, even now he sits among the Dark Council, scheming and plotting
i am rooting for Kor Phaeron to gain the upper hand one day
He already failed to do so at Boros Prime
its ok hes got time
Besides, that slimy fuck is worse than Erebus
I guess Kor shoots black lightning
Anyone know if Callum Davis is a good author?
Saw news about chemdog book, never really read anything from him
The Short story prequel to the novel is excellent so i think the novle will be pretty good
Highly recommend giving it a read if you want the vibes
Love me chemdogs, glad their getting some focus
yeah the Short portrays them as proper assholes which is also great
the Commissar guy in charge of them that will also appear in the book is a proper piece of shit, he hates the Chemdogs lmao
thats the pict i get from what i hear about them in pilgrims of fire
Penal legion only bcs they're from a prison world lol
they get proper gear and no bomb collars
I love them in Ghost Legion for that ngl
they literally ransack the ship they are on lol
They literally have the legal right from the munitorum to do that btw
đ
its fucking nuts
The aeronautica "shard" books are really well written. I never expected to like a propagandist, plus Plients is amazing
Flowers cooks
Yeahhh i really liked above and beyond
All the siblings achieve greatness
It really cracked me up how at every turn, another sibling jumped out
The duology of books + the Shorts are really good for that
Shard i think imo is one of the best 40k characters ive ever seen lol
You spent the entirety of book 1 seeing how much of a bitch she is then all that falls away in book 2, its amazing.
For me it was mostly her realising what her (non)action had cost her in the second book
Before that she was still unpleasant, or maybe guarded would be a better word
One of the most realistic characters ive seen in that regard tbh
I hate Imperial characters who are just "nice" for no given reason lol
her just being a dipshit was a great change
especially as a secondary protagonist
guys i have a friend interested in warhammer
where should he start?
and by extention me too with books
i have seen the pins
my bad
since there is nothing for custodes on the faction focus list, if itâs still being updated I recommend the Watchers of the throne series for SoS and custodes, and Auric Gods is also quite neat
Auric gods is more about the eyes of the emperor which are retired custodes acting as spies
Also T'au have a great book in Elemental Council now
Thanks! Iâll add that later đ
Wait there are custodes infiltrators?
How badly do you need to fuck up for them to show up?
Are these the police guys?
Basically they set up spy networks when they âretireâ
The 9 foot dude with a leather coat and a hover bike is apparently able to blend in with a crowd
They surrender all their gear
And give up their rank as one of the 10.000 when they notice that they perform less than perfect
They get networks of spies and give important info to the custodes
With all the abhumans in the imperium they can blend in
They mainly just set up their nets of informants n stuff and report any threats to the throne through secret channels to the 10.000
Sometimes they even become an inquisitor
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0woojGOTL5U (neat little DT theory but with the memory stuff prolly just a theory)

They don't do the spying themselves they basically just use huge networks of mortals to gather info
Less secret agent man more the NSA
They do both
Some have whole ass networks some just go out on their own to do shit
Alpha legion style
Theyâre still 9 foot tall
That outfit and the hover bike is from the Nick Kyme short
Oh
Havenât read that one then
Whatâs it called?
I thought it was auric gods but just skimmed it and none of it stands out
It did kinda feel old.
But Iâm sorta mixed in the ending also.
I still liked it but Iâm not sure if itâs everyoneâs jam
Still I think how basic the plot it is works to its advantage
The ending is pretty good, a great summary of the futility of life in the Imperial Guard
I do wish orks got more attention
We mainly only got to see boys and a doc
And I wish the battles had more variety of orks
This is back in the day when xenos POVs were never even considered so again it kinda shows its age that way
if you want a better and way more hilarious example i suggest Brutal Kunning
it goes from a horrified imperial/admech POV of "OH GOD THE ORKS ARE HERE WHAT DO WE DO" to the Ork Chapters where its like "Man I hate my job, I should be boss, this shit SUCKS"

I think ork books are quickly becoming my favs
They are really good
Iâm actually half way through mad dok book rn
Based
its because Grotsnik has a lot of brains
Nah even the beast snagga is pretty mellow
Iâd like too see more orks portrayed in this manner sometimes
Voutain is a weird name for an ork retrospectively
Youâd expect something like âbig chop butt smugâ or something
LOL
big boss glasnost get to the choppa
VERY interested
ohhhhhhh
Bro can no longer write a single part book
Why is the article so vague
because its Warhammer Community
No name for the Governor, no indication of who or what they are
They gotta milk it out
If I don't know if it's a woman how am I supposed to know if I need to read it or not
Its Abnett so its probably gonna be some guy
Cringe
God that cover is pretty
I hope these will be good, hives are one of my favorite things in the lore
Is Dan Abnett a good author?
Hes a very good author and the top 40k author for most people. His only downside which most people dont ever really criticize is his habit of largely ignoring lore thanks to his clout + making runoff paragraphs/descriptionary stuff that gets a bit "okay man i get it"
To be fair, a lot of that comes from when there wasnât a whole lot of lore for him to ignore
He still does it tho
Theyâre just waiting for him to find gold and do their job for them again
They donât have to edit* and create properly when he does it
You're so happy that we get new dan abnett slop
I donât mind him spending 50 pages talking about how a hives pipe system works
To be honest, I was talking with the Necromunda writers about how the stuff theyâve put in the books just doesnât work
And afaik theyâve been keeping tabs on that since
anyone here know about the ebon chalice book that is supposed to be released/in the works?
I just see the Aestred Thurga Pyre of Faith and Faith and Fire 20th anniversary edition sometime
Can't remember any Ebon Chalice books on the horizon
Is there any point to buy arriving HH saga books if I already got some of old hh books as well as full SoT collection?
Reminds me of this, great watch

Architect examines Hive city lore
Man I love Hive cities. My favorite sci-fi urbanization, even beating out ecumenopoli by a bit
Theyâre so cool
Was teaching megacities in geography the other dau and kept making notes to check with Necromunda stuff
Lets turn the world into an ecumenoplois and die because we all starve
I mean use the entire lowest levels to grow fungi
Use the highest to grow crops
I do headcanon that most people have little funghi farms in their habs
Like, rapid growing stuff thatâs provides the bare minimum of nutrition
we literally see one in darktide in the dreyko habs
I think there's mention of Fungus cultivation in Munda
that watch was amazing ^^
she has very interesting videos i cna recommend her channel generally
@tall phoenixgood?
Very fun id recommend it
it's written by denny flowers and he's really good with orks
So I recommend that even if I haven't read it
An hour? These have been available for order for 9 hours
but nice nice
Send some pics of the I&D illustrations and annotations
also whats the opinion on chem dog?
The pre-order books were only available in North America and Europe starting at 10:00 AM Pacific Daylight Time. Other time zones have them accessible earlier.
ah, I thought it was always a world wide time and date, my bad
Book went up for preorder 9 hours ago, how you read it already?

Dilara hacking the GW mainframe just to be a nerd and read all the books early
Im the rogue intern black templar twitter users speak of đ
Isn't providing opinions without a basis the new normal? đ€
Witchfinder "Steven Armstrong" Dilara
After the masterpiece that was Grotznik?
i trust his ability to write orks any day of the week
He genuinely wrote Grotznik with so much character
Denny*
finally sold out for US region
Is Fall of cadia by Robert Rath worth it? And for those select few of you who MIGHT have read it in German, is the translation any good? Because in the german bookstore i am in they obviously only have it in German
Its the first thing ive learned while studying history, they beat that into our skulls during lectures, "every translation already constitutes an analyse-worthy Interpretation of the source material".
Also, all the pompous and dramatic english language that 40k authors tend to use sounds a bit overblowm and wodden in german, but maybe thats just my personal bias since i hate that sort of language in german while i like it in english
Fuck it, i'll buy it
First few pages in and trazyn already gets trolled by the magic blood steel bell
yeah thats from the Gathering Storm rulebook
The exact same text or the novelized context of the original lore passage?
Good ass book bruh
Thx mate. Its been fun so far
The genestealers in the grotsnik book are way different compared to the day of ascension
Is the disparity common with Genestealer cultist?
I havent read day of ascension, but far as i know the ones in grotsnik were pretty standard
the ones in day of ascension were given ALOT more character
and were allowed to be individuals
also i didnt like the whole "big illusion" thing in that book
much prefered how they handled it in the ascension book where they could clearly see it was a giant bug monster but they didnt care
Depends on the partiarch id assume
Not really its just an author thing.
picked up the nightlords omnibus again to finish it this time
god what a nonserious book in the best way possible
we stan septimus
It seems Grudge Bearer is coming as republishment. Any experiences, good or bad book?
Btw are there any good Warhammer fantasy books from the dwarfs perspective? I know everyone hypes gotrek and Felix (and i will get to them eventually). But i wanna know If there are any worthwile dwarfen books
Ive only ever read 40k so far and i aint touching the votann since gave thorpe writes their books đ€ź
Oh, another question, has there ever been a 40k book that shows ork(s) fighting in the Arenas of commorah? I could imagine a hilarious novel of some warboss having the time of his Life in there
Well in Da Big Dakka, a bumch of orks do end up in Commorragh but not just as arena play things
they do have fun nevertheless
Pretty good book as far as dwarf novels go id recommend it
You'll probably want to read Brutal Kunnin before it because that's a sequel to it
not like a direct one with lots of carry over but still
Prequel you mean? Sequel would mean it came afterwards
As in Da Big Dakka is the sequel
Ah ok
Noted. Just read the two excerpts of the big dakka i could find on reddit.
An ork arguing life philosophies with a dark eldar is about the most hilarious thing ive seen all day

Also yeeting a CRIMSON FIST into the crowd of a gladiator audiance is nothing short of comical

the black library app doesnt have any of my books ive bought from the black library site in the past
wtffff
App slop
Did you link the accounts?
or transfer or whatever they said to do
yep i linked
stinky app then
ill just contact customer service tbh, maybe its just broken for now
i take back everything, i linked the wrong account
everything shows up now
bruh moment
Just to confirm with people better versed in the lore than me, Kharn is canonically established to not have given a shit about sparring and practice duels in the fighting pits in the belly of the conquerer during the great crusade and horus heresy, right? As in, he never gave his all in them because he saw it was boring and a waste of time?
I donât know if he saw them as a waste of time but he definitely didnât take them seriously
Yeah ,thats what i meant. I.e. not taking them seriously, because, among other reasons, he had bigger fish to fry
I think it was established in "Betrayer" and "Kharn, Eater of worlds". But i couldnt find any excerpts.
I dont own either of these novels rn.
So fucking casual about damning souls to being ensnared by a depraved god

presses a pause button
runs away
What a little shit đ
Are there any solid books that are more xenos focused?
A few yes, depends on what you want
Something from a non-human perspective. A story about a genestealer uprising could be cool too
Cult of The Spiral Dawn & Day of Ascension for those, Valedor and Voidscarred for the Eldar, Twice Dead king Ruin & Reign for Necrons, Grotsnik Mad Doc & Brutal Kunnin for orks, Elemental Council for the Tau
About what I can remember right now without looking it up
Nice, thank you. Any of those stand out as particularly good?
Really liked Twice Dead King Ruin, Valedor myself, Elemental Council seems alright I haven't finished it yet, haven't gotten to the rest
Also liked Voidscarred
All of those mentioned by @shy lark have been discussed here as particularly good representatives of their factions.
I want necron books
Twice Dead King series (Get the Omnibus for both Reign and Ruin + Severed)
The Infinite and the Divine
Tomb World
Necronius Bile
Zadal Necronius
Should i...dew it?
Its a fun book
Great book, do it
Fun book even if itâs not my favorite Ork book
Do it it's a great mechanicus book
I liked the "path of the ..." books, for both the eldar and Dark Eldar
Although the DE have the better ones
Yeah the Craftworld Eldar ones are great until the characters and shitty battle scenes come in
thanks Thorpe

It's the same story from different perspectives, and not enough outcast/ranger for me
Yeah the worldbuilding is good but the characters are just oof
such a shame that craftworld eldar got like almost no proper introductory books
Yeah, it's tough material
And I need more harlequin novelsđ. They always crack me up
Especially freaking mort, who apparently went from a cool harlequin to a bloody solitair between books
Harlequins serve the best as tertiary or side characters imo
seeing them from the outside is what makes them so funny/interesting
The short story with them was awesome, and yeah they very much side characters but also very rare.
For someone new to the world give me some book names I should start with
Eisenhorn, Ravenor, Bequin, Gaunt's Ghosts, Ciaphas Cain
look in pinned
These are series es
But you can have them in omnibus format and they'll all be good intro points regardless
Whats pinned
pinned messages
theres a big reading list for beginners there
Caiphas cain is nice cause Amberly explains shit to you as Caiphas does his silly boi shit
Right, but as a starter it will give you the wrong idea of the universe
Go from comedic le funny commissar to a normal guard book where everyone dies in the mud screaming
Idk. Might absorb the Gaunts Ghosts stuff once im all outta Cain to absorb
The vibe of those is like completely different and kinda what i was talking about

also every singel Cain book is just the same rehashed plot
This. Always the same plot but with a different faction as enemies. Also it's the impostor syndrome each page
Doesn't mean that they're not good books but do not read them back to back
100%
I...absorb em in audiobook form tbh and while I do read em back to back. There's long ass breaks between really when I got them drip fed
Im satisfied enough with Cain particularly as Sandy Mitchell does a good job of illustrating the brutality of some of the weapons without it becoming insufferably descript.
One of my main criticisms however is that Cain's POV is not great? For example he frequently misidentifies law enforcement units.
Or just doesnt care. Ok. Nice. The hiver doesnt care.
But Praetors? Did he actually work with the Adeptus Arbites at Adumbria? Provosts? He does it quite a lot and so when he's describing an arbites pointing a large crude weapon at him i'm like "Wait, so did bro get an Exaction shotgun levelled at him?" That sorta thing.
While also respecting that there'd be pacing issues if all the Black Library read like the damn lexicanum website
Black libray books pacing varies wildy depending on the author
It's probably for the better- though as a 2000AD enjoyer I think Danny boi definitely did better with visual assistance
Itâs part of the gag that heâs oblivious and canât be bothered to get his facts straight all the time.
I think even the author said the Cain books arenât meant to be taken seriously. More of an inside joke for those who know
Not taken seriously + be considered "hard canon" or good exploration of the IP
which is a really funny but accurate statement lol
Theyâre good for a laugh and I love em for it. The running jokes, like how Sulla is a TERRIBLE writer, always get me
also interesting statements from ADB whos a bigshot/decision-maker at BL
its from like 6 years ago
One thing to remember, enforcer is the catch all designated term for local law enforcement, thereâs also their own titles for themselves
Sheriffs, Marshalls, Provosts, all of these could come under that terminology (Praetor might be a stretch, Iâm not sure but you canât tell with gothic)
So itâs entirely possible heâs talking about them
Just finished the 3rd night lords book and I was like "wow a rare book where theres a good and happy ending"
Until
"||My name is Decimus, Prophet of the 8th legion||"
They bait and switched me with the 1st epilogue đ€Ł
Obligatory
Is there any greenskin books with propa ork dialect? Red first pages of Prophet of waaagh and it annoyed me greatly to read ork talking normally
Literally me after I finished the Omnibus
I was the same when I read the NL trilogy. Now it's the same but with Fabius Bile
CSM have a thing for furniture/buildings made of people
Well Terra has a bunch of dead CSM corpses cemented into their houses and floor...
Source?
Just trust us
Saturnine has some termies being burried underneath concrete
And some csm marines the custodes had captured since the HH they use for Blood Games
Ahh i haven't got to the siege of terra yet
Mad doc grotsnik and brutal kunning
Being buried in fast setting concrete with enough air for, I believe, a year has to be one of the worst deaths
I would honestly kill myself
100%, no way out
And space marines don't starve easily either
Or maybe start praying to the dark gods? You're already a chaos marine, what's the worst that can happen /s
Turn into a barely conscious chaos spawn that literally will not die
And when you do manage to pass, you'll be kept company for the rest of eternity
Or whatever a claimed soul does
Very fun
You can't even pray for the dark gods to help you. This happened in the heart of the imperial palace aka within the emperors aegis so daemons have an really hard time spawning
Yeah they just starved to death or from lack of oxygen
If I was one of them I would've instantly, like, killed myself somehow
Pray to the emperor then
As if he'd be merciful

He is well know for being a kind soul right? Get's all the awards for best father
He'd probably slow down your death so every second feels like years
Sus an membrane
Enter a near death coma state and hope for the best
At least you won't be conscious for the slow sanity breaking death
Or you pull a salamander and survive for 10,000 years only to immediately die on waking up
Wait what
Nick Kyme, had a salamander from the heresy use the Sus an membrane and woke up in âmodernâ day, only to immediately die of essentially old age
Lol
It was supposed to be a couple of years, and he was injured
Buuuuut
When you forget to press snooze
Literally any Mike Brooks ork book
hes a propa ork fan so puts in everything from it
Xenos by Dan Abnett
Is there a app that has all the books like how marvel has all comics app for a subscription fee incase u can't find hard copys
theres no subscription for access to everything, just individual ebooks & audiobooks on amazon & the black library app
Black Library app just launched and you can get some free books atm
It should have most things but I haven't checked
hard coppies of most things are out of print tbh
Xenos you can get in the Eisenhorn Omnibus which is still probably in print cause its such a classic
in fact i should stop recommending xenos and instead recommend the eisenhorn omnibus by dan abnett...
It be cool if they did a sub for books pay a monthly fee like 12 bucks and read all books for free
Im gonns get warhsmmet tv to watch the shows . Is there any arbites lore out there
Wrong chst srry
There is a lot of arbites lore on the lexicon
Or do you mean in novels? Cause I believe they are usually side characters
There is the Shira Calpurnia series, which follows an arbites or an enforcer or something close, itâs good stuff
Finally bought this one. Can't wait to start reading it!
its peak
Literally anything I will read watch anything im going all in on warhammer the world
so far everything robert rath makes is peak
100%, hes THE goat đ

what good authors are worth their weight in gold
denny flowers is very good too from what ive read so far
Definetly gave thorpe and Nick kyme.... For sure....

is there a book focused primarely on ad mechs?
dilara already gave me the lexicanum link but
Check out the pins on the channel here, theres quite a lot
There are a lot I think
Read dominion Genesis
Itâs the best admech book for the modern era
Cawls books are cawl first admech second
Chris Wraight
And C.S. Goto
Abnett, I devoured all his material
but in a relatively long span of time cause he can get very tiring XD
off topic book: i started project hail mary and it's very good so far
Warrior Brood isnât bad, I wonât lie
Itâs not good mind, but itâs not bad
Poor guy was a writer who got given a GW commission and the editors just didnât do their job of informing him
Gonna start painting my Arbides soon and I always like to listen to an audiobook about the team I'm painting, are there any good books centered around them?
I know the first 2 charcaradons books feature them heavily but Ive already read those
Not as a focus in audiobooks available afaik, I think they feature a lot in King of The Spoil
Warhammer Crime has a lot of enforcer characters but as such no arbites, I think
I don't know many arbites that survive till the next book either
Uriel ventris books have some cool ones popup every so often, but none that really stick
The Shira Calpurnia series exists, not sure if itâs on audio format though
99% sure it's not
not centered but chastener Godwyn Fischig is an important side character in the Eisenhorn trilogy
What to get with the monthly audible credit....
Eisenhorn book1
Or
Morvenn Vahl
Is the morvenn vahl novel good?
I heard it's pretty mid
Wasn't really impressed with Ashes of Cadia by the same author so it checks out
If you want some really great sororitas novels look up Danie Ware, I love her novels
Mark of faith was okay...
Pilgrims of fire is good but could be better
Will do ^^
She has a full 'series' of short stories and novellas with the Bloody Rose that culminate with a full novel so far, might be a bitch to get a hold of them all though if you want to be thorough
So with this new black library, is there a way to get ebooks or is it all in app?
All in the app until people find a way to get epubs off of it
basically a brand new 9/11 for warhammer books đ
I love the enshittification of our world in the name of copyright.
its less copyright and more to stop pirating
i wish GW realised people will always find a way either way lol
People already bruteforced the app to get the book files
Yeah, that
LOL
You'd think corpos would have figured out by now that if you make your service worse, it drives even more people to piracy. You need to make your service as easy and helpful as possible, then at least you keep your paying customers.
its funny because we DO know BL also doesnt make like a lot of money lol
Makes super duper ultra limited edition
Runs out of stocks instantly
Does nothing to refill the stock and generate more profit
"Why don't we make money from books?"
Gotta make them limited so they resell for ÂŁ300 on Ebay
Pretty sure ebay scalpers are GW employees in part
Or in a tacit agreement with them
GW should take a slice of how snack giants do it
release limited edition to test consumer market
if it sells well, wait a few months, release it as alternative due to popular demand
I think their manufacturing is like, years
yes and no
it does nto take years to do it
they just delay it that long for new editions
new edition + new models = increased sales because to play gamer ppl think they need the newest stuff always
- stop producing older stuff, create scarcity and a market for the new models even if ppl no likey
old metal daemonettes were Hot AF the current slaaneshi deamons are ...
Nah I think itâs years, itâs why they built a new generator for Nottingham because they canât keep up with demand
Are we talking models or books, because books are printed elsewhere where as models are made locally
models
As in release a limited edition model to see if it sells and then create a new set of the same design but not limited? I'm afraid it really isn't a viable tactic when it comes to plastic models where the sprue design and subsequent tooling of their molds is the most costly step to begin with
Hence why the single model kits are a lot more expensive compared to a unit, they both have a similar "buy in" costs yet the other has "less model" in it
%100 agree
If you wanna goon to models go buy 3rd party
I mean one can admire cool/hot looking stuff without gooning
thats a very dumb thing to say
Not really. Daemonettes have always been scary androgynous hags.
(and described as such in books)
tamam abla
"erm ackshually"
no problem sapık
yeah the whole IP mostly works on rule of cool but no hot stuff got it
I dont even play chaos KEK
mostly Asuryani
keeper of secret would like to argue
Also androgynous
looks pretty womanly to me
so does it not make it hot or pleasant to look
Never said that but okay
Its both tbh
Literally has a guy and woman's chest lol
also the goatface is pretty masculine

depends on the way you paint it and highlight it to be fair
best of both worlds
đ«Ą
I mean I am not in defense of making more hot stuff or something I am just saying it wouldnt really hurt 40k like at all
I just thought old daemonettes were more temptress like than the new ones
yeah everybody is entitled to their own opinions
I agree
Juan Diazâs daemonettes didnât go through citadels approval process because he was late as shit on them
And GW needed to release them now
Which is why theyâre so dissonant with the rest of the slaanesh range even back then
lol
Just read another gaunts ghosts book. Ladies and Gentleman, i hate Lija Cuu. What an asshole. Definetly needs a bath in phosphex
Yeah
Theyâre really good sculpts
But they literally didnât fit with the rest of the slaanesh range at the time lol
yeah, sadly because they were awesome looking
Yo chat
I'm reading the second bequin book right now and there's just something I don't understand
This might be a bit of a loaded question that might just be answered in book 3 but ||why is Beta so important? There are like 7 different groups trying to get their hands on her but there's hardly anything special about her||
||there's that bit in book 1 where she uses enuncia without causing any harm to herself but, why her? What makes her so special that she can do that? Could other blanks do it? If so then why aren't all of these factions searching for normal blanks?||
I get why Eisenhorn and Ravenor are after her but everyone else seems like they could get the same results using someone else
I mean, ||blanks are rarer than psykers, they're supposed to be like one in trillions||
I get that but ||the maze undue had apparently several other students as well as graduated alums. Couldn't they fulfill Beta's role in all of these schemes?||
||there are different power levels to being a blank, just like psykers, unless they retconned that out, Bequin might just be the only one able to sustain the kind of stuff she pulls out||
The ending explained it for me
keep reading and find out
Extremely good
Hmmm, will finish reading the HH books 1-3 and then I'm checking it out
Alrighty. So.
I desire my Primarchslop.
-# Need it.
I now have the Fall of Cadia.
If I wanna follow the events post-Great Rift opening, what'd be next?
How do I get to Guilliman?
I just finished it and it was worth the read
Pog, kinda wanted to learn more about him and specifically how the EC act after 30k
EC's depictions post HH varies wildly depending on author. I liked them in Bile's trilogy
What are the other extremely praised books? I knew some but I lost my 40k to read list

Lords of Silence
Another universally praised book
I think I heard about it once
Great (and one of the few) Death Guard book
Man the illustrated version of it is a gem
Peaks of Silence mentioned
Isn't that a book that has a Death Guard interrogating a guardsman while having his heart inside a pouch?
Yes
Adding to my least then
we need more books with common people getting slowly chaos'd
That guy went through quite the journey lol
Yea poor guy
Thankfully none are ass tho
Him and the guy in the first Word Bearer omnibus book (Dark Disciple?)
Oh yeah the enforcer in dark apostle iirc
And also the unrelated ecclesiarch in the other apostle
Excited for it then
Fellas, been reading the whole Gaunts Ghosts series
What a fantastic series of books esp for the sweet imperial guard experience
I can see why! currently reading honour guard
I like the sneaky parts
You got a long road ahead
Might need to re-read only in death. So good.
True
Just the ruthless killing of characters Iâve gotten attached to
Im on traitor general rn
I'll never forget reading Necropolis and one of the dudes getting killed off so suddenly I had to go back and re-read the entire page to understand wtf happened
True
I almost crashed out when I read that
||Wait you mean the guy who got his brain shot out or try again?||
||Bragg didn't die in Necropolis, wtf spoiler ||
||brain guy and also the big ass siege engine wrecking the entire platoon at the fortress by atomizing everyone with big laser ||
||I couldâve sworn brain guy and Bragg were in the same book ||
||bragg is still alive in honour guard so i dont think so||
||mb I mixed the cities up||
||sorry for the spoiler||
||bragg is fine donât worry :)||
all good friend
Are there any novels on the Great Crusade or just the initial books from the HH that explore those events just a little bit before the Heresy kicked in?
Unfortunately the most you'll get I think is Valdor: Birth of the Imperium. It's on my read list. Reading the first HH book made me want more pre heresy but they didn't wanna feed us
Damn, really wanted pre-heresy shit
Probably my favorite time periods are pre-heresy and Heresy
Post heresy is still fun but maan, the amount of possibilites during that time period...
Valdor, legion, most of first heretic, part of Fulgrim. Otherwise all the primarch novels
Depends on when you consider the horus heresy era begins? Istvaan 3? When Horus was named Warmaster?
Warmaster
I just found out that Robbie MacNiven has written several non fiction historical books on 18th century military history... Like "battle tactics of the american revolution".....
I guess that is why is books have such good and believeable bolterporn
You only really have the Primarch books and the occasional mention of it. In the later half of the HH you get more of it.
Maaan, I wanted a Great Crusade focused novel
Yeah sorry v-v
Some of the Primarch books are stinkers too but they do show you what the Primarchs were like before they were found by the Emperor.
Some go as far back as their upbringings but usually cover small battles during the Great Crusade that don't hold any weight to the greater narrative.
There isn't any books solely on how the Great Crusade was ran or anything like that.
Curze, Fulgrim, Alpharius, Angron, and Perturabo's Primarch books are standouts.
Just in case you wanted something with some pre-heresy stuff.
There are a ton of short stories about the Great Crusade but you'll need to do some research and figure out which ones will be worth your time.

Not really a fan of the space wars, maybe I'm just dumb but I find them very hard to understand
Remember having to re read almost the entirety of the void battle mentioned in the Night Lord Omnibus Vandred was in
Fair but I felt Annandale made it aight
Gives you some idea of whatâs behind his mercilessness too at the end
Unless you are willing to read rulebooks yeah nah lol
We will never reach Black Book levels of rulebook readability ever again
But tbh the codex stories and lore are fine
^
ever since Bligh died thats gone forever yeah
only he was really that autistic for details
Imperial Armour and the Black Books were such peak shit, never forget
I mean it got a novel last year
I am willing to because I wanna know more lore that its in them
I searched for the uhh
Blood Angels rulebook
Very cool stuff mentioned there
Yeha and it sucked ass
lmao
im talking about the fandom still taking about it
Black Books are your friend
they always put Great Crusade shit in there in droves
Yeah I downloaded a bunch of them, mostly for the art on it vut the lore on it is very cool
I mean, I kinda liked it, it doesn't hold a candle to Imperial Armour but it's not blatant kriegslop
It literally covers nothing about Vraks
nothing regarding the general state of the war
nothing about the actions the Krieg take
nothing about the politics of the entire conflict
nothing about the traitors
Just slop.
One of the biggest wastes of time ive ever read
Badab War is such a peak event tbh, all the details on it make me like the chapters involved even more (except the Carcharadons tbh)

Rare Carcharodon hate
Let's go
They're literally shaping up to become the reddit icon like Krieg
DUHH DIDJU KNO TYBEROS HAS A MEGALODON ON HIS SHIP'S BRIDGE
I kinda liked them when I first learned about their existence but the more I deep dived the less I started to like them lmao
Also the circlejerk about determining Tyberos' canon height
Started liking the Minotaurs, Red Scorpions and Red Corsairs more tho
Carcharadonâs have replaced Space Wolves for the most glazecringe fans
Someone stated yesterday that if you like the Red Scorpions you're an unapologetic nazi
Why
they are huge on genetic supremacy
and purity
LMAO
they are so racist they will REFUSE to work alongside any abhumans or mutants
He stands like one inch taller than his terminator guard which are average terminator size
Krieg was literally the same until reddit made them popular lmao

Mantis Warriors are the way forwards
Libraries, books, nerd shit
And fucking murder ninjas
They'd kill ogryns and psykers attached to them
Now they're suiciderino shovelerino trenchslop
le epic
I'm fond of asshole chapters because I like marines being assholes
Would I larp as them and actually believe their beliefs? Hell nah, just like the aesthetic
Lynxiee confirmed for Marines Malevolent Chapter Master

I was really fond of them before knowing their (iirc chapter master?) got whooped by a Salamander for killing civilians and they just let it happen
Smh bunch of pussies
"The woman and her child are about to be pounced by a tyranid warrior? NOT ON MY WATCH! THAT'S MY JOB!"
LMAO
I had that artwork edited
i had my artist friend remove the tyranid on the scope lens
so its just him wanting to kill a family before a lictor kills him

holy shit I saw it
AND LITERALLY
Kill the nid, then the child and leave the mother weeping for the loss of her first born
Only to bomb her 3 hours later
what a dumbass artist ngl, trying to whitewash literal genocidal assholes lmao
40k artists are so braindead sometimes
I'd be more fond of Black Templars if their fanbase wasnt filled with actual nazis
Honestly
the Black Templars aren't that bad in itself
But yeah the fans make it 1000% worse
Doesn't help that GW can't decide about what the fuck they are on about edition to edition
9e: They respect astropaths and navigators
10e: They chain and beat the shit out of them
GW has never been able to fucking decide what they want with BT
everytime they get a codex
Are they though? Most people ive encountered just were trolls and not actual nazis
its really fucking funny
GW is really seething they didn't make them a founding legion
Can you look up
because they surpassed the Fists 10 times over
Hate that piece of shit
Mostly why I like em (plus their religious knight aesthetic) but I gotta avoid saying I'm a fan due to not be associated with those people
Basically lol
They always say its troll to not get in trouble
Local BT fan here. Yes they are lol
my biggest mistake was ever thinking I should participate in the BT fandom

"It's cool if we make a diorama about burning dark skinned heretics on crosses, it's fictional"
Huh. I never talked with them that much. I just see the edgy posts, ignore them and move on.
"Its cool if we complain about another BT model having a black head because its woke"
Broken Crusade moment
LMAO
Fym not every templar is named Mordred and he's paler than the moon?
Who that?
"Most people ive encountered were just trolls not actual nazis"
"I never talked with them that much"

Me when space marines recruit anyone
artist of that right picture above
Impossible
I think he missed that entire post lol
Black Templars wouldn't be a fleet chapter recruiting orphans from any world they step on, no
LMAO
Who is he
Chud artist
Oh does he have a bad reputation?
Quite
The thing is my standard assumption when i see posts like that is that it is primarily ragebait for me to fall for, and i have no energy for that. I glance at it, shrugg my shoulders, block the person If i find it really distasteful, and move on. I dont have the energy to Investigate If what they posted is an accurate reflection of their real world believes or just something they posted in order to piss people off
Black Templars sub be like: Helbrecht determines the racial purity of a planet before deciding to help
Oof I just noticed the art...
What is ragebait about people just being chuds.
Like I barely interact with 40k nazis until they pop up here
and even I know of their reputation
lmao
Everytime I start liking the BT a bit too much I get flashbacks from Grimaldus going "get out of my city" to that Salamander captain
He was cool with Andrej tho
Me too but I wouldn't put past a BLACK TEMPLAR CHAPLAIN
Until he gave him a timeline to run an entire fucking battle barge on foot to get out
Ive studied history. Ive got a Bachelors and masters degree in it. Im from Germany. We learn alot about that topic. Nazi is an actual historical and ideological category with clear definitions. I dont call anyone that word if they dont deserve it by filling most of the categories.
I will get flayed for this but

Man they some times call themselves nazis
People wound up calling everyone a nazi or fascist for just disagreeing with their opinions to the point the words lost their meaning
Like incel and chuds literally join white supremacist groups and worship nazi ideology
Also take a look at US government rn
Id agree with this if it wasnt for the fact that i see way more the opposite lol
especially with the political climate we live in rn
Literally this yeah
"You guys called us nazis so much we actually became nazis!"
LOL
There was some uh
I agree that Nazi is a shortcut for calling someone a fascist; but then they're still a fascist đ
Black Templar fan painting nazi iconography on their miniature banners
That I saw on twitter
He also had the confederate flag painted in one of their minis
Very cursed
Perfectly put lmao
Funny considering that creating strife within the Imperium (like racial segregation and all) is considered heresy
There's xenos out there
Is that going to stop chuds from doing that? No
Cause they don't understand the setting is a critique against them
They just see big armor guy killing minorities and go awooga
And yet still the Imperium is still the one that kills itself the most.
I also legit doubt racism as a thing has been eradicated in 40k tbh
human beings will always find a reason to kill each other
It's quite setting appropriate, too, though. One mark of fascism is that someone more powerful than you can at any point decide that you have done wrong and turn against you. No logic, no accountability needed.
I remember in the early Gaunt's Ghosts novels that they saw people from other planets akin aliens but I think they stamped that off in the meantime lmao
Yeha Its just not covered because its too real, it would make people uncomfortable
which is kinda hilarious because in-universe genocide of other humans is just "lol thats fine"

Not to mention that it's kinda hard to translate different cultures and LANGUAGES for every shmuck from another planet so they just default to universal English Low Gothic for what is essentially a backdrop to buy plastic
Yeah its extremely difficult to kinda setup human cultures
IRL we literally have people living kilometers apart yet they all have different customs and cultures
in 40k its all simplified lol
Yugoslavia moment
At least the RPGs try to give you a sense of the thing by handwaving stuff like 'You are in the Imperial Guard deploying to planet X inhabited by Y people, here's a document to read or have your commander read out to you about their customs and a dictionary to their language to standard Gothic so you don't fuck up too much'
Yeah its an attempt at least lol
The Iron Hands have entered the chat...
"This primitive race can't even distinguish their own material!"
I find them kinda mid, not really a fan of "hyper mega augmentics!!!" thrope
But they look cool
I do love their complete disregard for human life.
So do I, just not a fan of their addiction to replace human parts with machinery
They can't help themselves by being anything other than turbo assholes who happen to know how to change the oil on a 2003 Toyota Corolla. Sometimes you just want some vanilla ice cream as a treat.
Please bring back The Keys of Hel and the cyber zombies GW. Pretty please...
We can literally resurrect people from the dead and we're just never gonna mention ever again because it was a IH plot point.
Love me GW lore inconsistencies
Nah, GW just hates the IH and anyone that isn't painted blue.
I should probably make a warhammer account and buy digital copies of book all I do is find pdfs
Forgot black templars vro
Nah, Black Templar fans are ât glazecringe, theyâre full blown naziterror
let's gooo
Trve
I like the black Templar aesthetic and allat
Yk the parody
But the people who genuinely like the templars for what they are and do
And think thatâs good
They scare me
I could never
Thereâs a potential for nobility there that I can dig
But then the other side of them is also mental
Yep
I do know a few Black Templar fans
And sometimes play against them on the tabletop
Like they larp as the worse parts of their fandom n shit
But they are chill people
They see it as what itâs supposed to be
A parody
Not something you should actually idolize
The ones who chose black templars cause they look cool asf I fw
The ones who chose them cause they agree with them
Ouuugh
tbh
BT fans dont really understand the entire faction is a parody of actual templars, aka racist pillaging mass-murderers lol
Which is stupid
Cause like
Black TEMPLARS
With a cross as their symbol
And their entire aesthetic
I mean have you seen the Helldivers 2 fandom
you can be as blatant as possible and people will still root for fascists because "well they are humans"
lol
The fandom which ruined a manâs life for daring the devs of the game to complete a mission in the highest difficulty cause the balancing of the game is really ahh?
The guy which offered to donate 1 thousand dollars to charity
As a friendly challenge to the devs
That community?
Yeah but they've always been terrible lol, people are just opening their eyes up more now to how they suck
I could never imagine them being braindead
I mean
I play Helldivers
I mean so do I, they always sucked
And I do larp sometimes as wellâfor democracyâ and allat
unfunny fascist rhetorics and human supremacy is very tiring
But you have to actually play the game with your eyes and ears closed to miss that itâs obvious satire
The term âmanaged democracyâ alone should be enough for one to understand that itâs satire
Yeah
Itâs fun for a bit
But it reaches a point where it just gets concerning/boring
Shitdivers đ«Ą
I play the game to do silly shit and have fun
Once spent a good 3h with a friend repeatedly bayonet charging each other
I do sometimes wonder how people lack minimal levels of media literacy/knowledge of history
Like how
They are stupid
not really that complex
same reason this fandom has so many nazis
(only on the Imperium side of course)

Truly a specimen
Indeed
That's all they see and the killing furries videos
and based hating aliens I guess
Itâs still crazy how people miss the satire in that
Well
I guess people are just stupid
They voted for this, beats me lol
I mean most warhammer media is a warning against things like fascism and whatnot, GW made an entire statement on it
the problem is people again dont really get it lol
Ye
Ye
They see a cool guy in armor doing shit and think âyep this guy must be perfect and can do no wrongâ
Just cause someone looks cool
Or other idiotic reasons like that
I mean most warhammer fans would be dying choking on factory fumes during slave labor so lol
Yeah
Lowk the same argument some idiots use with the 3rd reich
Like yeah
I must admit
Som of the uniforms
Look cool as fuck
But
That doesnât change anything about what they were doing
The uniforms look cool so that you want to join them
Just cause a guy wears cool shit doesnât justify heinous crimes against humanity
in reality they were impractical as shit
Ye
And so you see it and are scared
ıts why villains also outdrip heroes/factions in most media
Terror by fashion or sum
when you kill cool looking enemies you shatter their in-universe delusion of them being "better than you"

Mfs who idolize the BOS from fo4 just cause they look cool and have power armor lowk also scare me
tbh BOS is like bottom of the ladder
theres like way worse factions out there
Like yeah vro I support this genocidal regime because they have cool armor
see the Legion
True
Gods legion fans are some of the worst fans in any media
âYeah vro all these heinous crimes against humanity and slavery and all the other vile shit may be there b-but taxesâ đ«©
(They also make their people pay taxes but just call it âtributesâ)
So even that âpointâ is straight up garbage
Basically their entire argument yeah
just total pieces of shit lol
My guess is that they are just facists and want to enslave people but are scared to actually admit to being pieces of shit so they cry about âmuh taxesâ
Actual Enclave fans are also in the same category
Like vro what are yâall doing đ„
Hugo Boss is still going for a reason
If the bos would just accept non feral ghouls I'd agree with them. Because super mutants need to go as do synths. If you escape the institution cool but if your part of it good bye
Great points, unfortunately
Yes man for the win
(They gonna enslave you anyways đ„đ„đ„)
Na I'm too cool
Im considering doing legion in my next playthrough if their quests are fun
They kinda arent because they got half of the content cut due to time restraints
Dry Wells and Long 15 mods do make some nice additions to Legion and NCR
Fully voiced too
Ahh is house any good?
Yes man.
Well i dont mean good as in ethical or good, just is his quest line fun
Ive done ncr and yes man until now
Im very aware of what a villain house is, but just curious if his quests are interesting
House is very fun
Cool ill go for him then
This commismar in chem dogs fucking hates them
Well yeah Savlar are a pack of thieves, murderers and rapists lol
He calls them fucking mongrel and it kills me
Based
The chem dogs may end up being my favorite regiment
I hope nothing terrible happens to this ogryn
but good book so far?
I'm only an hour in but ye
