true
No, but they typpppically do stick to their word, in whatever monkey's paw ass method they choose
true
I mean no they dont
chaos gods are all liars
Vashtorr is the only honest one
which is hilarious
maybe in fantasy they might
nope
they are cunts
the novels have some hilariou sdepictions of the lies/monkey paw shit they do
Besides "all the eldar souls" is a pretty big deal worth breaking your word over
its why its better in Fantasy/AOS
I meant honored in the monkey paw way
when its funny
put Vashtorr in AoS
the forge of souls is real
Just the DE ones
they make slaanesh puke up the souls
very funny
I need to learn the wacky end times lore
ıts like a cartel torture scenario
Hashut vs Vashtorr
this is post-end times
they literally find slaanesh like
sleeping in some fucking dream cave
The elves beating the shit out of slaanesh directly is super funny
Caught lacking
renegade Vashtorr worshiping Helsmiths could be a neat idea though
anyways never noticed this art literally had Slaanesh's dick out
if you look carefully enough
💀
I saw it and now everyone else has to know
forbidden chastity belt
fuck you
I see that suspiciously shaped patch of nebula
Slaanesh is neat when portrayed as just star dust or constellations
I should go looking for chaos god artwork - I wanna see if anyones done Khorne as just an endless pile of skulls where the throne is so far away you can't see it
Those 4 pics of the Gods properly characterized, with Tzeentch looking like a mollusk, are neat but I'd like to see some way more esoteric depictions
This and that Slaanesh artwork is like the only ones we got
theres no official art of what they look like
why does he have anurgle stomach mouth
because it looks cool and nurgle doesnt own the IP of gut-mouths
shut up nimrod

no u
✋
Well Khorne does do a bit of snacking
He's on a mostly liquid diet tho, soul drinking and all that
Blood too - has Khorne ever been given vampiric traits/followers? I feel like they'd kinda work well together
also chaos champion guy looks like he is taking a piss
Actually Fantasy covers this
which makes it weay funnier
Konrad Von Carstein gets corrupted iirc
IDK Hermann sounds trustworthy
I am sure they could do some other stuff with Vampiric khornates, but Fantasy/AoS vampires aren't really liked by chaos iirc
picture of a young hermann
Probably one of the most metal images ever created by man
Yeah they arent
Vamps are entirely tied to necromancy/nagash
and Nagash is a supreme-cuntlord as we all know

nagash seems like a stand up guy
Such is the power of nagash
he is now
makes them not have souls or have icky souls iirc
Yes.
hes THE god of death
he basically worked his entire career in WHF to rise to be one
he was grindin
welp im finally back to where i stopped listening to vaults the first time
As of AoS yes, he is the largest god of death by far and it’s not even close
He absorbed almost all his competitors
hashut hashut hashut
Any others?
Side note, is arks of omen really that bad?
Yo who tf is this chad marine?
they're rulebooks
therfore rulebook lore
it is mostly drier but there's a lot of lore in them
YMMV
I quite like them
they characterize vashtor well
and they have interesting events
No? Arks is very good
the only universally disliked event rulebooks were Psychic Awakening
Main Issue with arks iirc was pacing
Arks of Omen was like Speedrun story telling without fleshing out sectors much
I mean its again rulebook lore
Yeah
they only have so much time
Even forgeworld rulebooks
Go fast as fuck lol
They just cram more in due to their formatting
Just saw someone say, "I wish GW put out more content for the Horus Heresy, there's barely any material covering it"
Meanwhile, the 60+ black library books...
Barely any content And it has enough books to fill an entire bookshelf over must have been ah visual video only watcher type guy
I understand that some books are kinda hidden away/their subject matter isn't super exposed, but literally a 3 words google search got me most of the list
Like whats the book, Imperial Armour or something? That apparently features the Carcharodons quite a bit but there's like, zero reference to that fact lmao
Well yeah because it isnt about them
they are 1 chapter amidst like 18 that were involved in the conflict, they play a bit of a pivotal role but they are a sidepiece
it was also their big entrance into the setting
The Badab War books
You don’t want to read it if you’re a fan, the Carcharadon’s get slapped around
Really punctures the fan glaze of them
I mean do they? They literally come in, raid/pillage, blow up shit then leave.
Its about where almost all their glaze comes from
Nah, I’m exaggerating, but their performance is exaggerated too, they get caught out by the Mantis Warriors big time
Tbh the Mantis Warriors literally get clobbered so i dont think its that big of a deal
Essentially, if they weren’t as cool as they are (which is pretty cool) they wouldn’t be exaggerated as much
The Mantis Warriors match them and hold them
The Carchs keep losing so start raiding imperial cities and wiping the civilian populations out
This is a chapter who’d been fighting for 8-10 years at this point, and started with only 800 Astartes
The quote for the battle of tranquility is ‘the ferocity of the Charcaradon’s was matched by the skill of the Mantis Warriors’
No what they need is to cover the badab war more
Or the war of the lost primarch
Whoever he really was
Well yeah and we know who comes out ontop at the end

Yeah, the Administratum
Their bootlickers get all the glory and forgiveness they need
Those traitor Lamenters should have been executed
Fuck Lamenters and their fake fanon made up moto
‘Why us?’
‘What did we do this time?’
‘What’s next’
‘Oh shit’
I dont think they were looking for forgiveness
Once more ever grateful to Snipe & Wib for calling that shit out
the mini edit-wars in the fandom wiki over it was hilarious after the vid came out

They got it though
unlike the Blood Ravens (They were mentioned on a stream years ago)

Its not.
GW doesnt give a shit about fandom memes/opinions
if it ever happens its very rare
Blood Ravens meme was mentioned once years ago but corrected themselves it was a meme

Yeah so not the same thing

That’s how Tyberos became a giant
MacNiven really liked the fan artwork of Tyberos looming over the one armed guy, so he wrote it into the novels that Tyberos is huge
So most of GW don’t care
oh right the books
I forgot MacNiven like Fandom Arts

actually
Saturnine
I remember Saturnine Power Armor was mostly fan art and memes then GW just grabbed it

I wasn’t there for that lol how bad was it?
For those we cherish, we die in glory?

IIRC its not really bad just small debates on keeping it
Thats not a meme, thats just misinformation, GW only cashed in on it because they realised they'll get way more traction by playing into it
they very much knew Saturnine was not its name lol
There was like 3 weeks of the editors just constantly removing/putting back the made up motto because "it sounds cool" in proper dimwit fandom wiki fashion
wait until a writer sneaked it years later
Its gonna be those One Sentence Archive in a Open World Game
I mean it’s exaggerated by memes. Lore wise he is one foot taller than the average marine.
lol. Common warhammer wiki L.
Lexicanum reigns supreme
He was created to be normal height, making him bigger is purely down to the fan art
Ig he has joined the "bigmarine" club with seth and polux
Don’t forget Alberec
Tybby was also a probably a Veteran Sergeant or a Captain during Badab
He was the equerry and captain of the Nicanor. He was likely picked for equerry because he’s unusually chatty for the chapter (I just made this up)
Silas “it’s all in proportion. What?! No, my mace, my mace is in proprotion, god emperor almighty unsully your mind” Alberec
That's just a normal guy
so true
Damn it looked like one
Wait so chaos warriors aren’t even super soldiers?
yup
Bruh
just chads
Chosen are the super soldiers
i mean they are sorta enhanced
Chaos Warriors wear the plate armor
by the gods
Yeah they're just cool motherfuckers
But chosen are the ones powered by gods
The sm fan can't comprend that a normal guy looks that cool
I can’t. Usually only based marines got that drip.
But not being super soldiers is lowkey cringe. But the drip makes up for it.
tbf they kinda are super soldiers
i'd consider chaos juiced as close enough
Chosen are just the next step up, but if you got chaos warrior armor you are pretty damn juiced
Well chaos juiced is alright then
it also doesn't change that a chaos warriors power is purely earned, they didn't get cheats prior like CSM do
normal guys vs normal guys as Sigmar intended
Those guys on the right just ate their wheaties
empire halberdiers facing down the same daemons Space marines do
No need to be a marine to be a badass
chaos warriors are the OG big muscle pauldron fuckers

Chaos Warriors are technically Super Soldiers only when they become “Chosen”. Thats when Chaos Gods favor them
Usually Chaos Warriors wear the plate armor as a social status and veteran warriors iirc
iirc chaos armor is a lot bigger deal then just plate armor
yeah
My bad
Yeah blessings of the dark gods and all
my favorite part about the old warrior art is the amount of weapons
mans got a sword, an axe, and 2 daggers
some of my favorite art of Chaos warrior/lords
that dude behind the handgunner has a giant ass 1 handed sword
oh hey thats from mark of chaos, thought it looked familiar
Anyways, any other 40K horror recommendations
The Dark Coil: Damnation
By the only hungarian to write Warhammer
Watcher in The Rain is also good
I thought the Deacon of Wounds and House of Night and Chain were pretty alright too
Night shift nineteen it’s a short story and part of dark coil but it’s goood
Darn I thought dark coil: damnation was like a sequel to dark coil, but it seems I’ve read it already
Well then, how about the Reverie
It's quite good
I needed like two attempts to get through it because Fehervari does things a little strangely but I ended up liking it
Finished the space shark book
Definetly Interested in the first two
Although It feels a bit funny how the chief librarian brute forced Sharrs redemption 🫠
Also also after reading the Uriel ventris sextologie, the space marine redemption ark is getting a bit old
New book dropping next year for you chaos lovers out there
Year of Chaos????
Mid of Chaos
Every year is the year of chaos if you're down bad enough
Dilara will melt like the witch of oz when she gets hit by water when she ain't hating
I just want more chaos books about regular chaos cultists, people succumbing to chaos from their POV. Less traitor marines.
Ayyy a full sequel to Sacred Hate! That’s gonna be good
I wanna see a human chaos sorcerer beat a space marine
Weird how seemingly being a space marine makes you a better wizard
It doesn’t, they just receive better training.
No he said being a space marine
Being a space marine itself doesn’t increase your power
Its true though, literally every single strong psyker in the setting is a space marine
The training given by the librarium does
(probably the worst part of 40k for the chaos front)
think itd be cool to see a dedicated human match a space marine in power
ıts not even that
its just writers favoring space marines
Which is fine, its a toy setting but yeah
I always wish 40k had some Slaves to Darkness/Chaos/Norscan angle like WHF and AOS where theres a proper human element to chaos instead of it just being entirely CSM, its really cheap that no mortal for some reason just cant rise or beyond the level of gene-gorillas for some reason.
surely studying arcane powers is training of itself
The chaos gods just like big muscly men I guess
Yeah I guess, fair enough
i just wanna see a human crush a space marine like a tin can with their mind smh
Then you got the 5th Chaos god who takes his love for muscly men to the next level.
This should probably come with an addendum of "currently alive strong psyker"
I'm sure Malkador was ok
He was so and so
theres like 1-2 strong human psykers for like 10 space marine ones lol
primarchs count too since they are just bigger space marines
there arent any alpha psykers outside of flavor text right?
Theres like 2
but yeah its flavor text
the Assignment still exists so
Wasn't ravenor alpha? I think Ive seen that mentioned somewhere
Yeah but its not really accurate
an Alpha psyker is a system/planet-wide threat
they are like mini doctor manhattans
alpha psykers dont survive long enough to become named characters
they dont survive long enough because it will cut into Goon Marines sales
they're kill on sight arent they?
Feed to emps on sight
me with a suspiciously alpha psyker shaped stomach
No, I don't recall exactly now, but Ravenor gets schooled by beta psykers.
alphas don't make it to emps I thought
just neutralized
oh wait those are omega
If they make it thru the blackships they still get fooded
The exact grade of his powers is unclear; in one source, he is described as between high-level delta and low-level gamma[5x], while in another he is described as "Alpha plus" by one of his enemies [7a].
The former assessment is from Ravenor describing himself. It seems reliable.
Its pretty incorrect
Alphas are world ending threats
its just another Abnett fluff thing
its well known that he doenst care about the main lore accuracy that much
? high-level delta seems fair?
Probably. Its hard because like i said abnett doesnt give a crap about lore rules

Guy always does his own thing, its why people tag anything he does as "Abnetteverse"
what about a sigma class psyker
Anyway, psyker power scaling is not very useful to begin with.
I mean it is
its why theres multiple levels in each section
its left rough so you can kinda take your own guess at it
Yeah again just abnett beign abnett
would an omega+ be a system wide threat?
fucking with navigation and such
by being so dense
CORRECT
guh
iirc they wouldnt even be able to control their powers, so really theyd get fooded or die
Big bad
Also this chart is still relevant because its mentioned by name in the new Archmagos book lol
Yep can confirm
Yeah i added it to the sources on the page just incase
too dense to be a black ship crewmate
theres tons of people saying its "out of date"
great to finally have some contrary evidence
Black Ship crews are normal people
just heavily brainfucked
iirc the max a blackship can contain is an alpha
An omega would be too much even for the SoS
^
you'd need like
orbital bombardment type shit
these people can literally kill entire planets
100 Jenetia Kroles or summ
I have a Alpha+ psyker OC in my Inquisition warband
hes so powerful that his entire body is a husk
and he's constantly kept asleep
so he has to astral project to communicate with people
if he wakes up they all die

Sounds like an alpha plus
we're talking that levels of unstable
omega is a blank innit?
yeah i had to take it into account because no superpower comes without cost lol
so omega + is a super blank
An omega is a superpsyker
ah the plus is reversed
Balance is good
Yeah the numbers are important
the ones in categories are left "loose" so that you can kinda lay around with them
-40 would be so funny though
-40 would be like
Jenetia Krole but even worse
you literally dont exist
nobody sees you
but they instantly wanna fucking die or suffer by being near you

this is really whats in the halo star
throw that mf in the eye of terror
New havoc terms?

SHUT UP

Complaining about Abnettisms yet using a list that Abnett helped to write against it
Yeah uh unless theres proper evidence i dont think Abnett wrote this entire chart buddy, sorry lol
especially when again Ravenor is nothing like what this chart suggests

Abnett had a key role in writing the Inquisitor background book
which is the source for that list
I mean no
theres 5 authors
we literally got no idea what he was involved in
and again, he doesnt even follow his own chart

It is probably mostly written by Kyme
But even the introduction for the book is by Abnett
Once again he goes against the chart itself so i really doubt he wrote it.
Abnett is infamous for people by just winging and doing what he wants while ignoring the setting's narrative/lore rules
And you tend to believe that everything he does is in a bubble of his own and not a joint effort by the writer team they had, there has been multiple mentions by him that they did lots of the writing work together for the Eisenhorn saga and Inquisition game and background lore
And how does he not follow the psyker scale? Only outlier is Ravenor's enemy calling him an alpha plus, which isn't a definitive source for it, just someone thinking he is so powerful
"you"
mfer "Abnettverse" is a fucking term the entire fandom uses???
💀
And yeah I actually do, especially considering how for actual team efforts like the Siege of Terra one of the greatest complaints was how Abnett basically ignored more or less half the plot points set up by other authors and went off as usual to do his own thing.
It is and for a good reason, it still doesn't mean everything he writes is by him alone

as in there's "a good reason" that people call it that
not a good reason to justify it existing
its new

...no its not
people have been using it since the Eisenhorn series
lmao

it just used to mean the inquisitor and sabbat worlds, but it has stretch out to encompass more
Rookie mistake. Never agree with Dilara, for she does not want peace she wants problems always.
The difference between dan and other authors can really be summed up with power swords
Other authors: "oh i should look at models and other media to figure out how to depict these"
Dan: "a power sword is probably a lightsaber right ill throw one of those in"
Hes just doin his own thing and it usually works out but he doesn't try too hard to work with anything that already exists lol
"Whys his power sword depicted this way?!"
Because its a different pattern, ez answer
Dont admech use lightsabers
Librarians are basically the Jedi when you think about it
Sorta?
Some fusion cutters are arguably that
The real energy sword users are the farsight enclaves
Who have fusion blades
There was something in the arnament section of the lexicanum
For mechanicus
For some reason it also lists paragon blades
To be fair, he did look at the model, and the art
The art has him holding a scroll, whilst the sword is like a sword cane
I can see where that mistake was made
A power cane would be sick
poke a guy with my cane
it goes straight through his armor and body
I always took it that he got confused, that the scroll became the sword and the cane was still a cane rather than a sword cane scabbard
Dude’s just enjoying his day being a rude twat and then BAM
hole in his foot
"Well you see it was a normal cane, but then inquisitor gray's pet monkey stole it"
"I found it a few days later and im afraid to press the other new buttons"
I bought my dad two 40k novels for Christmas
The Siege of Vraks and Interceptor City
He's a star wars fan (I bought him some star wars books too) so I'm trying to get him into the series kinda
I’d recommend Assasinorum kingmaker
It’s easy to get into if you like other sci fi
And it’s very 40k
I’d recommend Descent of Angels
Any Eidolon books or books that include him post heresy?
He’s in the Bile books for a bit
Yes
It’s called, Eidolon: The Auric Hammer.
IIRC it also tells how the EC changed from purple to pink.
Small question, are Horus Heresy books all smaller than the 40k standardised size? A family member bought me some books for Christmas and they're noticeably smaller in dimension.
Might be the formatting? As far as im aware HH books generally stick to the rule of 40k books aka roughly 300+ pages max
Sorry, maybe I should've worded my question a bit better. I'm not concerned about the amount of pages, but the physical dimensions. Height and width.
Some of the paperbacks are smaller in size
^ Thats what i meant yeah
There's for some reason two sizes for the HH
page count adds to the size of the book usually too so formatting is pretty varied
its why some 30k books are thick as fuck
while others are like very small
Apparently it's a difference of trade- vs mass-market paperbacks
Yeah, the size difference isn't too horrible but it was just a bit strange to notice at first.
It's just one of those things ig
WE ARE SO BACK CHIVALRIC ROMANCE-BROS!
Off-topic, I know, apologies. But I’m so fucking excited to read these stories.
Been reading it for a bit now, it’s so peak.
What are the chances of some normal human to survive a warp travel gone wrong?
Depends on how long gellar field goes down for
If it's just a flicker more baseline humans will be ok but a couple of seconds daemonic possession and strokes
Named characters would survive
Thats like asking "what are the chances some normal humans survive a train crash"
Humans dont automatically all die when a gellar field fails, daemons just appear and kill anyone they find until the characters/crew find a way to get back into realspace, its not some monolith happenstance really
It’s doable like, but it’s not a conscious effort, it’s just surviving
Depends on the books but in a Situation where gellarfield is broken usually its gonna few hours at best where EVERYONE dies.
I think the fastest was Horus Heresy books where a ship died within what counts as “Minutes”
The longest Gellarfield story breaking down was dawn of war 2 chaos rising because Apothecary Galan, Kyras and the 5th company were stranded on their ship with everyone got corrupted. (It was confirmed its a A week or even equivalent of a Month they survived before said corruption)
It depends
On the type of warp travel.
💀
We have a Necromunda style campaign which is about a pilgrim fleet in the warp when the Eye split open
For a split second the gellar fields are overpowered as the fleet smashes together and makes a hulk, then they flicker back on.
Then in warp fashion they’re trapped for a hundred years before being spat out in real space minutes. The remaining survivors have degraded from worshipping the emperor, or the chaos gods, and now worship gods which have tangible affects on their ‘universe’, like the lance batteries, air filtration systems, power generators.
The goal was using your gang of cultists to establish your god’s dominance.
It’s true
The Fallen Angels and the Calibanite Jaegers were dragged into a warp storm with Caliban and some of the Jaegers did survive.
That 💀 was more that everyone in here is saying the same thing lmao
I mean everyone was saying ship travel
And gellar fields
The jaegers and Fallen got dragged in with no ships and completely unprotected

That's because the chaos gods thought it'd be funny
Anyone read the new scouring book
I have, its pretty good
Dont jinx it
this is literally the first book from prob dozens
it will fall off soon enough lmao
I mean, I legit hope so
the problem is 30k fans are more delusional
Wait and see, it was a good first step
I just started it and it’s pretty good
yeah the novel is good
Really the big thing about gellar field failures is its really hard to coordinate a realspace transition or fix the field while under attack by daemons lol
Like whoops your helmsman and chief engiseer died sorry guys
What’s your opinion of dorn
Is he angry Templar dorn yet ?
Hes Dorn.
Acts stalwart, doesnt like what Guilliman is doing, yada yada
you'll like it if you like Dorn lol
hes basically the same as hes all the time, im sure people can find deep complexities when they read it
Dorn is misunderstood
Dorn is like an onion
There’s many layers to him
But I do want to see scouring dorn
Well I don't know too much of his characterisation before but he's real eager to get the crusade rolling again and to me seemed a little on edge
Like the dorn he was described as in the scouring originally, full Templar, overzealous, full of anger and hate.
Yep he’s going into Templar Dorn
Has he painted his armour black yet @shy lark
Na but not repaired and seemed duller unless I'm hallucinating
He repaints it full black in mourning when he embarks on crusade and founds the Black Templars.
That aint happening
thats Sigismund's role in the novel
hes already acting like a templar lol
To be fair
He’s been a Templar brethren already for what 60 years at this point😂
Dorn and Sigi found the BT from the TB during the scouring.
siege never fell off
perfect the whole way
😌
Remembers the lost and the damned...
Nvm
that was the most boring book of the series
but the rest were good
👎

Mortis; mid
First Wall; Mid
Furries of Magnus; Mid
Solar War; Mid
Sons of Selenar; Mid
mortis and solar war were 🔥
Nah siege was peak
literally the most hated books in the Siege
Could have been 5 books shorter
Too much padding.
Too much filler.
All stretched out just so people empty their wallets, yall gotta do better
I mean
they are literally picking up scraps and making sure the actually annoying Legions dont ruin everything lol
Guilliman is like the only reasonable voice here
🤯
Agree to disagree 😢
Idk what you want em to do
agree to go feral and hunt the traitors instead of actually fixing the stuff on Terra first or figure out a game plan?

True LOL
But basically yeah its written to be frustrating
the wolves were at the door and have fled and now everyone is stretched with their own goals
Yea the author does a nice job
No spoilers but you get some more sense towards what Gman wants later in the book, it isnt super mindblowing but might make you go "Ahhh okay now i get it"
I see I see
Yeah you are getting the closed off version currently where Guilliman and the Ultras look like pricks that came to lord over the victory
and the other Legions havent realised how fucked things are yet
The way the plot jumps around is really nice actually
I think it covers a lot of plot in one book
Lmao
Edited for spoiler

“Dad is Dead, The Imperium Has Fallen, Billions Must Subscribe To My Instruction Manual” Guilliman probably
I get it now
Wow
Roboute “Pyramid Scheme” Guilliman pulling up to his father’s funeral to slang his new book.
Is he the Erika Kirk of the 40K worlds?
Yes
Except pulling up preggers with another man’s baby is guilliman pulling up with his new codex

Guilliman was playing chess while all the other primarchs were playing checkers
A glimpse into the wonderful world of Yahoo! Answers. Song is Curley Shirley by Otto Sieben.
Twitch channel is still underway, just been having some technical difficulties. Gonna try and get it off the ground within the week. When it's ready I'll post a quick announcement video with a scheduled time.
He was fr playing regicide
The G in guilliman stands for goat
Thats why hes the goat
The Lion doesn’t concern himself with lesser Primarchs.
Im reading Day of Ascension ||Buruzelum going "Hey, just use one of her arms to replace your own! Whats the worst that could happen?" is so funny||
absolute cinema
This will go SO bad
Chapter 2 of this makes me quite sad: ||getting the POV of a child neophyte who just wants a better life for her and her family is sad, especially for the fact that much of their motivation is partly fueled by a psychic link to their Patriarch. Not to mention the idea that the first/second gen hybrids are seen as "aunts and uncles" makes me wonder how authentic is their familial relationship with one another, barring of course the Patriarch and any purebred genestealer. How much of it is fueled by Tyranid mind shit, their own genestealer instinct, and them being an individual?||
Mostly a psychic/genetic link
its why GSC cults never really infight or seperate etc
Yeah that is kinda depressing
Its a parody of IRL revolutions most of the time, people think things are gonna get better but their leaders end up eating them lol
Yeah, its a hideous cycle
I just find the whole "kid sees everyone in her cult as a legitimate loving family member" incredibly sad
Its fine as long as they take down the fascists with em
thats kinda the morbid/funny thing with GSC lol
Question about that actually: on a more peaceful world where Imperial rule somehow isnt as bad as it is on other worlds (kinda thinking Paradise Worlds) or simply does not exist: what is the usual way for a GSC to infiltrate? Because they couldnt use the whole "These are tyrants that wanna kill us!!!" schtick in this situation
Probably just time and social construction
Same as usual.
Genestealer cults still have to contend with the stigma against mutation, so after a while the cult is going to be feeling that across the board.
One GSC start growing they just recruit/brainwash people like normal, you know, like actual cults (badum tsss) theres just genetic fuckery involved.
Depends on the world, the codexes go into how GSC can have an easier time as each generation passes because some people just dont loo ktwice at a little skin hue offness or an extra appendage if they can hide it or just avoid suspicions eyes.
Basically, a GSC just has to gain control of the orbital defenses and maybe the ground ones, after that the hive fleet can wash over the planet uncontested. A single Genestealer could probably just replace a noble family if the planet was that lax.
Its not really laxness, GSC can basically get into anywhere.
Its more time and being careful.
the things they gotta take over also once more depend on the nature of the planet.
Oh yeh, but in the context of a Paradise world
Oh yeah lol true
Side note
you'd need to basically take over the entire staff first
then infect the nobles by esoteric methods
which uhhh knowing the IQ of rich people IRL prob isnt that hard 💀
So I guess they'd either:
Manufacture a societal stigma point (mutations for example) to pivot off of
or
Simply take the planet over with no need to make a narrative for people to rally behind
If Paradise worlds exist, does that imply interplanetary tourism is a thing in 40?
Interesting
So a GSC could absolutely take those over with no issues, long as they can get aboard their ships
Its not a thing I thin about but yeh, surely some noble families do just go cruising around the Imperium
Closest thing to tourism in 40k is pilgrimages
which is uhhh pretty fucking terrible but still lol
Yeah the recent codexes show GSC can take over ALMOST any world/thing.
Press the K harder lmao
once again its time + resources
Which worlds can they NOT take over, daemon worlds or Ork infested worlds?
Well yeah lmao
Tourism is evil in 40k
Eldar craftworlds
im talking """"normal"""" Imperial worlds
Non Orky Orks get fucked
Tau have too many eugenics on their worlds
unless its in the non Tau population
Also actual technology
in which that case it does happen sometimes
but infecting someone of the Tau species doesn't do much
I imagine the DE don't have to worry about Genestealers in the webway
bcs the Tau practice eugenics on their own species
Drukhari have a GSC cult
sorta
its funny
huuuh
They exist but would get exterminated the moment they get big
Commorragh is massive
I believe there are DE that have put tyranid parts on themselves and ended up under a psychic link
yeah
Nah that never got a followup
that
those are unrelated
but its likely nothing special
lol
They're obesessed with the planet full of nids in comorragh now
smh
A solar system sized city is wild to think about
What about GSCs infiltrating a separate GSC? Does anything happen there? Its silly, but I recall different patriarchs can fight over resources and such
its even larger
Webway is huge
the webway is a pocket dimension + Commorragh has other realms attached to it
its basically endless-ish
Like they say the imperial palace is a shed
No, they would be aware of each other
but you can have a religious region for them infighting
The two warring Patriarchs would decimate the Imperial forces and bitch at eachother until the Hive Fleet came and ate them
they need multiple suns
Its also multiple dimensions
They continue to bitch at each other even when their biomass returns to the hivefleets
A contient sized palace is a shed compared to a solar system sized city?
Gee I don't see why they'd say that!
There was that one Tau planet that got fucked by a single genestealer they decided to analyse wasn't there
Eldar/ED scale is a bit silly tho
I mean is it
Anyways the mandrakes realm has bled into other parts of commeragh
Like I get with the DE its like, literally every Eldar who existed in the Webway collecting in one area
They have most of the tech from back then
So whats silly about it
they can't use the best of it bcs its psykers only
All Eldar are psykers tho?
The Drukhari have atrophied so to speak
they arent all wizards
Also that.
All Eldar are inherently psykers to a degree, but they are not true psykers
if that makes sense?
They all have potential but not all specialize in psyker abilities
like they can all operate stuff that has miniumum psyker requirements
but they cannot all shoot lightning and such
the Drukhari's psychic abilities have completely atrophied whether through eugenics, disuse, culture or all of the above
is unclear
but it can return given sufficent time outside comorragh
Its "passive" soulstuff
Dark Eldar only get their psychic resonance once they have spend a LONG time outside of commorragh
its like a RPG status effect
Is that because the webway is cut off from the warp perhaps?
No
since psykers can act normally in comorragh
now granted
you will die horribly if you do so as no one wants that sort of situation going on in comorragh
and Harlequins who are psykers who spend a long time in comorragh are unaffected
Shadowseers do not have their abilties atrophy in comorragh or the webway
While countless generations of conflict have ensured the Drukhari’s bodies are even more suited to physical combat than other elements of the Aeldari race, the innate psychic abilities possessed by their forebears have, by necessity, been allowed to atrophy. To channel the energies of the warp within the Dark City would be to invite disaster, for doing so could draw the gaze of the Chaos God Slaanesh, the one the Aeldari fearfully call ‘She Who Thirsts.’ As such, the use of psychic powers is one of the few things forbidden in Commorragh.
They lose them due to not using them at all.
Even non-wizard eldar use their passive magic powers by simply walking around a craftworld and opening doors automatically etc.
Druks use NONE of it.
Its like how if you stand still and starve yourslf for days your body starts eating you lol
Makes sense
Though, I never quite understood why Slaanesh can't just tear open warp storms on top of literally every Craftworld and be done with it
I mean thats not how it works.
because that takes a ton of power to do so from Slaanesh and Craftworlds can literally just leave
^
and yeah warpstorms need specific conditions to occur
they don't just happen
even if a warpstorm seems spotanious
I suppose it's equally fucked up to a tell an entire galaxy spanning race, "Yo! Just lettting you knoooow I'm gonna eat all of your souls when you die!" instead of just doing that
there is another reason why it has occured
the veil has to thin sufficently
in one way or another for a warpstorm to occur
I mean yeah thats the point
eldar are sad as a faction due to that
also its fun for Slaanesh
She who thirsts gets a semi infinite supply of souls
and gets new torture toys semi regularly
Semi-infinite and Eldar being in the same sentence confuses me
Isn't the Eldar's entire thing that they don't have kids anymore?
Semi-infinite because eldar breed and make new eldar
Where did I read/hear that
Youtube probably
"Eldar cant have kids" is like first-time tier wrong lore people say from non-lore sources
I swear I read about Eldar not producing a child 'cuse Slaanesh would eat them for having sex or something
Yeah thats youtube slop
yeah no Eldar can have sex just fine
Eldar can also have sex
See;Path of the eldar
Yeah its more uh, you know
Fair
Hedonistic violent shit is what fuels slaanesh the most + counts as worship yeah
^
The more violent the hedonism the happier slaanesh is
generally
which is why a lot of Slaaneshi "gourmets" end up eating other sapient things
rather then just like
Yeah its why sexual stuff is always like Tier 1 out of 10000 regarding the ways you can appease him
horribly torturing a grox for meat
I mean it was specifically the psychic stuff from the excessive violence/hedonism
why horribly torture a grox for the best meal ever
when you could do it to your neighbor
I don't think the Imperium could make a new Chaos God out of sheer hedonism
I mean
Though then again
the Imperium almost did/will do so
Apparently Nurgle was birthed from the Black Plague, apparently
The Dark King almost was birthed during the Heresy
this is old lore and non canon now
Thats ancient dumb lore
Ah man
Its fine tho
Thats a very human centric take
^^^^
Was khorne still born from the first murder?
Nope
Thats Drachnyen
Khorne was born from the first act of violence in existence according to AoS
whatever the fuck that means
An amoeba eating its first meal
khorne: "Where the fuck am I?!"
Conversely, that amoeba dying about 30 seconds later because the water was too salty.
Nurgle: "Where the fuck am I?"
khorne: "Oi! I asked that first! ENEMIES FOR LIFE!"
The chaos gods came into being from the war in heaven and humans probably became aware of there existence during black death, the crusades and the Renaissance
I like to imagine that Khorne was born from the first war between sapient beings
tbh
but ultimately we dunno
I mean thats the thing about the Chaos Gods innit
Sure they can be 'born' at a certain time, but they've existed forever
But only after they've been born
They exist forever after they've been born
yeah they wouldnt exist across all time if they werent born yet
It's why we don't see the Dark King, he's not born yet. But once it is born it will be seen throughout time
Abnett's own little chaos god OC my beloved
In my head canon thats the 'deep warp' shit people talk about, just Chaos Gods who either haven't been born yet doing their thing, or one of the 4 from the past doing stuff in the future
Khornes strongest warrior: an aardwolf that slew 300000 termites every day of its life
Its not really much to headcannon
its basically fact
we got like over 20 sources constantly saying they are multiversal/have always existed
Bligh invented the aetheric domains
well
sorta not really
dark king awakens
gw reissues every book they've ever printed but with references to 5 chaos gods instead of 4
holy based
Shut up
I have a feeling if they ever do let the emperor turn into a chaos god it will happen if 40k starts floundering and they need to AoS it
But people love space marines so im not sure it will happen
So never
Give it twenty years
I feel like they should lean into the concept that E's soul has fragmented
40k is literal perpetual growth machine when it comes to profits
it will be done if 40k needs to be AoSd yeah
tbh
They already do
I think GW is very unwilling to repeat the same mistakes
that led to WHFB you know
dying
A war God version of E appears to lead the Legion of the Damned, the Star Child comes to try and fix the Imperium, the scientist portion appears before Cawl
WHFB at the time of its death was a rotting barely animate carcass
that wasn't able to out sell a single fucking LOTR kit
the emperors soul gets fractured
a bunch of really confused bronze age shamans appear
That would also be funny
Tho it makes me wonder
If all it takes to become a Not-God is get 10 friends and become 1 guy via drugs and magic, how haven't more people done it?
(Speaking sumerian) "why the fuck is everything gold? And who are all the huge naked guys in helmets?"
Its not that easy. If it were to be attempted again the chaos gods would intervene.
I think the old lore was basically the entire psychic potential of humanity got concentrated into the emperor and that's why human psykers didn't come back for so long
That kind of thing creates a beacon that attracts daemons to souls
But they could've intervened then
Big e was made during what would be by modern standards a lull in the warp
The warp is like an ocean during a storm right now
I don't think that explains all 4 Gods deciding actively not to stop their greatest enemy from being born.
They might not of been able to
Because perhaps big e is destined to be a chaos god so they can't stop him from being born because he's always existed
I mean they really just want him to join their super cool club but they're trying to be lowkey about it
I mean they probably hate him just as much as each other
Its all a great game
Would there be nearly as much war and disease without the emperor?
Grooming children for his armies
He also created enough hijinks for tzeentch and enough debauchery for slaanesh
I mean, he kinda just chilled for 20k years before conquering the planet
I mean did you see all the gold decor
So thats at least 20k years worth of war and disease you could say he had no part in
Not his fault it was humanity's birthright to inherit the stars
Ironically LITERALLY did this btw
Trump 🤝 the Emperor
Thinking gold is the only color for interior design
I saw a comment the other day on one of those animated Russian 40k videos, it was featuring the Custodes and E fighting Daemons in the webway
It went, "Only in an environment of pure gold is Auramite considered good camo" and then E showed up and turned the entire video bright yellow with his aura
Lmao
Custodes my beloved
Which unironically kinda slaps as a combat tactic
I like to think that custodian armor was made gold because that would blend into the emperors interior design
The ones by the throne are nude because they'd blend into the background otherwise
Like you're gonna be fighting in cramped tunnels, open battlefields, jungles, swamps, mountains, etc, etc all with different camo needs. Why not simply change the colour of the world around you and just rock the best looking colour
I just think aurumite is gold and the custodes just don't bother painting it because it server no tactical perpose
"Auramite is an incredibly rare substance, whose natural colouration is a shining gold, a hue entirely appropriate for the Emperor's personal guardians. "
From the wiki
Wii 40k...
its not gold
its as special ore
madeuptanium
In color
Woow
Yeah
AUGH
(Not really)
Oh shit
My fucking 'k' stopped working and now I have to copy paste it every time lmao
I am racist, I don't much care for NASCAR but Im a sucker for motocross
Lmao i think i read a 4chan post like that years ago with the p key
The racing fandom is dying repost if you're a proud racist
Its so funny that the rare golden super metal isnt, you know, orichalchum the mythical golden supermetal instead its apparently cognate to ceramite for some reason
once again
Even though im pretty sure ceramite you just make
Aurafarmingmite
Plasteel is funny to me because im pretty sure early in the settings history the writers were like "in the grim dark future is everything made of plastic or steel" and someone else went "just make them the same thing"
I thought it was a Star Wars thing originally
Its a good term imo - you get the idea of what its supposed to be without getting into the nitty gritty.
Yeah its just "structural stuff"
Well nah, its steel and plastic mixed together - in some way
I always assumed it was plastic with the strength of steel
Do we actually know what it is lol lemme check lex when i get back to my pc because god it barely works on phonea
"Plasteel is a type of advanced synthetic material that has the consistency of plastic but the tensile strength of a steel alloy that was developed during the Dark Age of Technology but long used by the Imperium in the construction of many types of personal infantry armour. " 40k
