The disrespect
Even nobledawn was gonna give him some great mausoleum remembrance
Fuck this ethereal
Has anyone read the voidscarred book? Is it good?
Ngl i heard there’s romance
And i love romance.
Yea, a drukhari and human fall in love
I see GW finally understands what the female audience actually wants.
This doesnt happen, death
Its good yeah, and a pretty fun book, especially if you like space pirates in general lol
and yeah the corsair and craftworld protagonist have a yaoi romance but its handled pretty well, you know its good because it made a lot of people mad

He has done straight romance he has done lesbian romance now he has done gay romance
Bro is collecting the romantical Infinity stones
Tbh, if GW wants to spread the “warhammer is for everyone” thing then we’re going to need more gays.
gw doesnt want to admit it but space marines in general are pretty gay
100%
Also its funny that people complain because not once in this book is it ever paused to be like:
"Oh wait arent you a guy? How can you like me?" its just played off naturally because it literally doesnt matter in any capacity lol
wholesome 😌
I don't think gender means much to the eldar, they seem to change whenever it suits lol
Yeah pretty much, tho Brooks has this for most of his characters in 40k.
Like how some high-ranking administratum guy just randomly mentions that he has a husband. Bisexuality is a pretty common sci-fi trope
i think this is the first time ever its been this upfront even tho again its never shoved in your face
I need him to make more books, one of the main reasons I enjoy AoS so much is the insane diversity it has.
If 40k keeps this up ill be stuck in the middle
as Ian Watson said in that jordan sorcery interview, that is intentional.
AOS also has the advantage of the case that while people are racist they arent nazi tier racist

So you can actually have different races working together to many extents for stories/books just like WHF, its very fun and unfortunately non-existant in 40k so it doesnt open as many windows.
Huh
okay xenos lover
Luv me elves
Luv me dwarves
Luv me ogres
Simple as.

go back to your hovel
We need another AoS book about humans fighting other humans
They know
They are the ones who made the blood angels gay
And they made EC gay
So I think they know
This is unacceptable Dilara, evil levels MUST be doubled.
They are still evil!!!!
they just sometimes team up to fighter evil-ier people
DOUBLED I said

they should be self sabotagingly evil not team up evil
Brother corswain canonically melts when a setting is full of hope and has a chance of fighting back against the darkness
Sigmar should have a swirly chair and spin around and say “I have been expecting you”
Relentless by Richard Williams
Underrated and overlooked imo
Thanks!
What would yall say is "wrong" with Phil Kelly as a writer? Because every time I see someone ask for T'au books everyone says "read Elemental Council, actively avoid anything written by Phil Kelly"
When I hear excerpts from his books I really get a sense that he doesn't trust his readers to "get it" so everything is explained very directly
He simply writes and writes and explores nothing about the Tau as a faction or does anything interesting with them, the universal dislike for him is very much warranted because this fandom rarely ever agrees unilaterally on anything ever.
For example he made 3 books on Commander Farsight and we still know NOTHING about his character in any capacity, he just covers tau books like its a grocery list even though in his own words apparently he loves them as a faction lol
in my humble opinion as a person who has read his books hes just an uncreative chump. Elemental Council has done what Kelly couldn't in the last 20 years in a matter of weeks.
He’s pish
Damn you Abnett!! Listening to Anarch and I'm not even a third way through and you drop that bomb shell
Getting author copies of your new books is a thing that never gets old.
Sarah Cawk?
…well.
Fixed it for you.
Yes, that's me.
Very nice!
👀
(also the ultimate dream, tho id cringe trying to read my own stuff; and do honestly)
Now that was a LOT of fun to write.
And I get that, I'm the same - I've very rarely re-read anything I've written.
I think that after writing something, then going through various editing rounds, you reach a point of 'oh my god I never want to see this story again'.
bad ass 😎
Hell yeah
high five
Spookily appropriate.
I reread son of the forrest recently.... AND I WANT MORE
I'm kirby but for Lion El Johnson content
Give me contemplative, learning, forrest walking Lion El Johnson
And not the secretive, dense, selfrighteous brick wall from the heresy 🤢
bro i need more lion in my life
Yes. Same
Rowboat gorillaglue got a bunch of books in lieu of being defrosted, but the lion ends his 10.000 year catnap (yes, pun intended), and gets one book and a few pages in a campaign book/codex....
I neeeeeeed mooooar
Maybe in the next [1-10] years
You WILL read about the vengeful Lion in the new scouring series 🙂
Ooof.... Sure, anything pre caliban being the original cadia....
Hand me the first printed copy you can find on my deathbed so i can die a complete and peaceful man.... 🤣
I'll have it faxed to the afterlife
Thx mate
Ok I finally finished Final Deployment. Some things aside I enjoyed it moderately well
I really don't understand all the nick kyme hate. I'm going through the salamanders omnibus rn and I'm loving it. Like I've heard people say his writing is dry, but I grew up reading massive Expository dumps and pages of description in Tolkien's work. So I really don't grasp what ppl are talking about.
I only just now saw this
I might need these
but good luck getting the two earlier ones
Dilara, can i ask you a question regarding behavior from someone on this server? What i have experienced seems like violation of the rules but Id like to have reassurance that that asssumption is correct and not just me overreacting
You know you can DM the mods for that stuff right
Look as long as it's a legitimate compliance you can DM her about it
I thought you werent supposed to DM the mods, see #📕server-rules
Yes but I'm very certain cases when reporting certain people it can be done
Yeah sure DM me the screenshots of what you think the guy is doing, ill take a look.
Thx
The rule is don't dm the community managers anyway which is like, without that they'd get 100 dms a day asking "when patch" "when longlas" "when space marine" "space marine please"
lol yeah but we usually dont mind if its something actually important
i think im the only mod who has DMs open kek
i thought CM was the fatshark people
no rule against dming you... you are now subscribed to daily paragraphs from James Joyce's Finnegan's Wake
now theres a book
its... technically in english?
Joyce scholars question the legitimacy of searching for a linear storyline within the complex text of Finnegans Wake
if i want to start reading reading Warhammer which one should i start with
Check pins
There’s some advice
Ultimately pick a faction you like and go from there imo
thanks
Had a dream where I found a bunch of warhammer books that I didn’t have yet. Was great. Then I woke up.
Can just simplify this to "Was great. Then I woke up." and it can be about as worse

So true.

Which series
30 k 40K or AOS?
Not that I know of
Audible give you a credit a month to get a book every month but other than that no
I believe they were asking a monthly book club thing where we'd read the same book each month
but no there hasn't been one like it in a couple years now
the person who set them up isn't active here anymore
Can someone help with some Dark Angels book order?
I want to soon enough start reading the Horus Heresy books, in which I want to read the HH era books relating to the Dark Angels. As such I want to know of the DA books that take place between The Flight of the Eisenstein and The Unremembed Empire.
So far I understand the order of books goes as follows:
• Descent of Angels (by Mitchel Scanlon)
• Lion El'Jonson: Lord of the First (by David Guymer)
• Fallen Angels (by Mike Lee)
Is this complete and correct or are there books I am unaware of?
I got you homie
Descent of Angels
Call of the Lion
Lion: Lord of the First
Fallen Angels
Savage Weapons
Cypher: Guardian of the Order
The Lion
By the Lions command
Prince of crows
The long night
Master of the first
Unremembered empire
Angels of caliban
Exocytosis
Ruinstorm
Dreadwing
In order of timeline
Lion lord of the first takes place roughly around the same time as fallen angels
Master of the first takes place at the same time as the long night but for story continuity I put long night first
Just from what I know isn't Prince of Crows a Night Lords book?
Yes but the main enemy in it are the dark angels and its story is a continuation of savage weapons and a necessity for later lion vs curze books
If you read savage weapons and skip Prince of crows you’ll have no clue what’s going on in the next DA book where the NL are the atagonist
Same with the long night, it’s centred on Nightlords but an absolute necessity for the plot of further DA books
Which of these books are full novels, novella and short stories? Because if a lot of them are short stories then I'll have to buy the appropriate anthologies as well.
Most of them but for a fellow DA fan I could just send you the telegram group invite where most of them are there for free. If you want.
I appreciate the gesture but I'll use the list you provided to work out a sufficient shopping list of books. Thank you all the same.
No probs mate you do have a couple after like Luther first of the fallen and the second cypher one but the ones in the list are the books from the start to just before the siege.
cant wait for the new releases man
do any of the books/graphics novels have physical versions? like full blown paper backs and not comics
The books? Yes almost all of them
Graphic novels idk didn't know 40k had em lol
The original ravenor omnibus is some of my favorite cover art
I swore there was a sisters of war Omni bus of the comics
I was also looking at the eisenhorn Omni bus the damn print was too small I don’t got eyes for this lol
You might be possibly mixing it up with that Sororitas comic series
oh yeah i didnt mean to imply something like that didnt exist i am not aware of all the 40k content
Ooooh lucky
Im tryin to get ravenor on paper
Really want to read the Salamanders omnibus too so I guess I'll just have to cave and use an E-Reader
Definitely getting the new krieg book too though, and the ones that take place after 'krieg' by steve lyons on e book since those arent available anymore 🥲
I dont think we'll ever get a graphic novel, especially not in the equivalent size of an omnibus or 200-300 page book that GW usually favors
Are there any bad authors in HH series? I started buying the books in bits but just to know if there will be books that wont be as wow as others
avoid anything written by Nick Kyme
his Salamander books are universally bad, theres like 7-8 of them lol
by the way his works of salamanders are so bad he's attributed to ruining them story wise
Basically explores nothing about the Salamanders at all and is just generally boring bolterporn.
aka mindless action with dull characters
Ohh
Yeah basically that he's kind of known as a faction butcher
Yeah worst case just read some summaries if you are curious about the novels on reddit.
most Heresy books are skippable but his are on the top of that list lol
Are those Vulkan books or something? Ill go look BL
Ive gotten HH 1-5, then some bits here and there as not many physicals atm. Also going for siege of terras and end and death 1-3
Hold on
The Horus Heresy is a series of novels, anthologies and audiobooks based on the historic events known as the Great Crusade and the Horus Heresy, about 10,000 standard years before the present 41st millennium. The novels are written by different authors, but follow the same storyline - the fall of Warmaster Horus and his campaign of treachery to ...
This is the full list of every single written thing for HH
Ohhh no, those nice vulkan covered books are kyme… rip
Good news Vulkan has very good appearances outside of those

Hes at the Siege and also present on Ultramar during the Imperium Secundus plotine etc
The Horus Heresy series spans 54 books and a ton of short stories, but with the move to the Siege of Terra, it's finally over! So let's run through every single book as fast as we can, and rate them from one to five er.... THINGS. It's time to review Black Library's Warhammer: The Horus Heresy novel series!
Check out EVENTS and buy MERCH on the...
Also highly suggest watching this video for which books you wanna pick up.
Ian is brutally honest with the novels' qualities, dont believe people who say you gotta read like 30-40 books to get the entire Heresy, most of it is either one-offs or just unrelated plotlines that dont go anywhere.
I was gonna pick em up all to get collection, so many books but warhammer is best. Dang sucks that theres garbage books made in the mix
Pbs are just 10-12€/ea
Its essentially impossible for all of them to be good, especially when a great majority of these novels were just written for bloat/money.
so if you wanna do that be my guest, its your money
LOL
yeah I legit hate people who are like
"You will miss a ton of context during the Siege"
and like.... not really???
lmao
Loool ok, ill get some more and I start check what to not get
Btw does Fulgrim cover same as the larger Dropsite Massacre book?
Kinda, barely
Heres the books that cover sections of it
Fulgrim covers some portions of it but you dont fully see the whole thing.
Ok thanks! I got still like 10-12 books to get until ive gotten all available physical copies. Then I have maybe 20 out of 64 books, this includes siege of terra
Yeah for collection sakes thats fine
Ill prob get more selective once Ive gotten those. No salamander books on list thankfully
I also got the aos omnibus that covers first books. Its actually ok even tho I first expected it to be garbage
AOS books are the same quality as any warhammer book
Theres Peak, Great, Ok, Mid and Garbage
always hinges on the author
Ooh boi, well its good I dont have apparently any bad ones yet on shelf 😄
Currently making my way through the mechanicum timeline and lowkey quite enjoying the mechanicum
Dark Angel timeline was all peak
IF timeline all peak
Mainline hit and miss
Brother just rated muh Fallen Angels a two star. Immediately turned off the video.
Would anyone like to see a leak from the new scouring book?
Peak opinion.
Boring, mid and bad.
Also here. I’m sure this will cause some drama when the book releases.
Saturnine was, in fact, peak. I do know this.
Fallen Angels, on the other hand…
Lmao we were talking about this a bit ago
this character has like what, a 3 page appearance and people will go crazy
I could not come up with worse bait if I tried myself.
That’s the neat part, I didn’t try pal.
Here guys here is mark 1 terminator armour which has always been here
😭
I wonder how many fans trench crusade will receive when it drops💀
LMFAO
probably none, they also complain that TC is "woke" since its creators said "we dont want nazis in our hobby"

what a hostile IP smh my head
I tried to look into trench crusade but I just can’t
It’s like what
There’s Jesus who has been cloned 19 times or something
There crusaders but also apparently Nazis
I don’t know wtf this is about
also uh is this from that reddit post?
the text is a bit crunchy where did you get it from
I’m not on reddit I got it from another warhammer discord
Apparently someone got an early copy
Back in the first crusade, the templars took Jerusalem. They did some heretical ritual and unleashed the forces of hell. This started a centuries long war between the forces of god and hell. Or something like that if I’m remembering correctly.
the most realistic part of this is Templars ruining everything
And then you have the technology being in this weird fusion state between medieval armor / armaments, blessed / heretical weapons, WW1 artillery pieces and battle landscapes. Eldritch horrors from hell, One man army super soldiers powered by cloned Jesus #whatever’s blood that are sent on missions into Hell itself , and other neat things that damn you to hell if they kill you, or somehow inflict injuries that last into the afterlife.
It’s pretty cool.
I do find it funny that the lore references the “Pope Fight” of 1409 - 1417. Except this time the Anti-Pope in France works for the forces of Hell and has turned France into a plague infested ruin.
Essentially way back during the crusades some heretical templars did a ritual and unleashed the forces of satan on the world, and the religious forces of humanity have been fighting it ever since. The setting is currently in what would've been WW1's era and its trench warfare against demons and shit
I'm not too knowledgeable on trench crusade so this is the bare bones summary of the setting
Is Horus Rising a good book to start on?
Thank you 😊

after that if you wanna read any of them id say use this vid as a guide
ok mr fehervari does cook a little
Quite strange, a few questionable things, but The Reverie was good
its because he mostly just does his own thing with 40k
generally being confusing for the sake confusing, hes a BIG fan of making the Warp like this paranormal entity that effects the characters and plot, its very interesting
Anything paranormal/warp related was definitely the best part, it being confusing adds to it imho. The warp should be weird and wild
An apothecary saying a space marine having somewhat impaired judgement from being older despite being in like their second century was one of the oddities but it's a nitpick
Finished the mainline Gaunt's Ghosts novels during my trip to GD, truly an excellent series and I'm a bit sad to see it go
Might have to look into the Ghost Dossier series Dan started a couple years ago
I love his interpretation of chaos and the warp
All the dark coil stuff involving it is excellent

AAA-
Fehevaris books would be a lot less confusing if I didn't have to constantly rewind to figure out when they changed scene
Absolutely no pause when the book switches characters
its not THAT bad
you should see End and the Deaf where they switch characters every 2 chapters
Just listen to audiobooks so you'll separate characters based on voice
You should see Memory of Light where they switch characters every paragraph
It's for the zoomer adhd audience ||as if they have the attention span to read a book||
I'm both those things and I finish plenty of books
looks at fall of cadia which I still have not finished
I had a first! My new novel comes with an ACTUAL
TRAILER
LET'Z ZOGGING GOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Awesome
It’s so cool
Fuck yeah, that's awesome!
night lords omnibus, or eisenhorn and ravenor? having a hard time deciding which
One small issue
All of those are very good

Id probably say start with Night Lords since its entirely its own thing then just do Eisenhorn > Ravenor
thanks, my mom said the same so i’ll have to try night lords

Also based mom.
she’s quite a treasure
Dose anyone here know how to read?
I cant read, got a serious case of lumbago
I know what helps
Dog photo
This is gorgeous
His name is gorge
And his head is bigger than my torso
He is
BIG BOY.
Hes the best boy
Nightlords are great
Sevetar my king
I personaly like day peasants
He's not good?
No he’s great
You might feel like you’re getting lobtomized reading his stuff though bcs it’s always weird and creepy
don't trust these lies
If you don’t like dark coil I’m feeding you to the creature in the elevator
I've only read The Reverie, I'm just a hater
You’re going in the elevator
Its gsc, thats exactly what I want
well shucks
My last message to the world, hate gsc always
Weird and creepy is what they do best
What are the good drukhari books
^
Path of the Dark Eldar is prob the peakest example, id also recommend Lukas the Trickster which while advertised as a SM book its perfect split down the middle between a fun dark eldar/marine protagonist
Yeah I looked at that list and it was under just aeldari so I dint know it it was an aeldari book featuring drukhari or if they were the protagonists. Thanks

Is Day of Ascension good?
Lukas is one of the few likeable marines too
A rare breed
He also canonically fuck(s/ed) but its unclear if hes kept siring children post marining
I guess he must have they start marining them before sexual maturity
its VERY good
to quote the author Tchaikovsky himself
It's a story of a monstrous sect of religious fanatics that consumes countless human lives solely to perpetuate its own predatory existence... ||vs the Genestealer Cults.||

Absolutely worth a read for any proper 40k bookworm imo
I'll pick it up at some point, ty

People on fenris tend to have kids at a young age given that they live on extremely dangerous planet
Pretty sure it was mentioned he had a relationship with another girl his age before he became a space marine
On a different note, the Night Lords in Remnant Blade are huge assholes I quite like it
I've still got 20 chapters to go so I'm not sure but it seems mid-mildly enjoyable so far
It'll perpetually live in the shadow of ABDs trilogy though
No escape
i thought space marine surgery started pre-puberty but i could be wrong
Sometimes in the teens it varies a bit
Wait isn't it the book where a purestrain gets clubbed to death by a bunch of ogryns?
It’s preferred pre-puberty - but there are, and have been, exceptions to the rule.
💀
No lmao
Zahariel and Nemiel were 15 when taken for surgery in Descent of Angels.
Has anybody here read Rynn's World and if so is it good?
Finished elemental Council and it was good. My only complaint was the structure, specifically how long some sentences ended up being
@mellow knot does your Twilight Imperium requires knowledge of the setting or is it a friendly read for someone unfamiliar with the setting?
It’s pretty stand alone - it references certain races but a quick Google is helpful!
Alright thanks
Some of the TI races are brilliant. It’s a very lore rich game
erebus is an absolute buttmunch
Erechad is the entire reason you have this setting, show the First Heretic some respect

word bearers are pretty lit
i quit painting minis unfortunately i’m gonna be the grey/primed guy
idgaf i’m just not good enough nor do i wanna spend the time to get good enough at painting
i gave away all my paints and brushes and miniature holders to my stepdad much to his dismay
Too bad gw forgot they existed
it is unfortunate
maybe instead of putting words on his body he should read them instead
He has, thats why hes superior

stop being mad loyalists
Idk he is a word bearer, not a word reader
Genuinely idk why people hate him so much
Erebus is 1. The reason we have 40k and 2. A great villain
I love his short story where he's just sitting there gloating
Word Bearers in general are preemo traitors
Great aesthetic
No nonsense about justifiable causes
because people get emotionally invested in the imperium, for some reason
Yeah, the Imperium that bases a lot of it's identity off that funny religious book Lorgar wrote iirc
Because hes an asshole and loyalists are always portrayed as heroes in 30k.
Yk
For it being The Horus Heresy
They don't really have as many traitor perspectives as you'd think
For it being called the Horus Heresy Horus ain't really a central character you can read and grasp the motivations of
Yeah, ig
Idk i wish the HH was written with the modern scope in mind
Instead of going "hey we should write 5 more books" like 12 times in to "yk maybe this will be a 70 odd book series"
Pretty much lol
People hate him because he's a good villian
Ime it's not a love to hate thing tho
Its a genuine "fuck Erebus i hate him he ruined the imperium"
^
cant believe he killed all those innocent space marines 😔
Because he’s annoying
He just seems like one of them sneaky little dudes at work who will snitch on you and kiss your bosses ass.
I would recommend the Audio drama “warmaster” it’s genuinely just Horus in his quarters talking to himself about everything. It’s like 30 minutes long but it’s really good.
I think you will find Dilara that there were no genocides, no atrocities and no homeless in the imperium before Erebus came along. It’s all Erebus fault, he ruined the imperium. The imperium is only fascist today because he made us do it.

Legitimately every space marines reaction when they found out they had to genocide entire civilisations and virus bomb innocent worlds because Erebus made us do it.
I had these with my sandwich today. They were depressingly not spicy.
Only Cadia could produce non spicy jalapeños, smh.
Thank goodness Abbadon freed us from a grimdark future filled with non spicy peppers by destroying it.
The full catalog of cadian rashuns
Man I really hope void scarred gets a sequel because leaving a book that good on a cliffhanger is NOT okay
It was left on a cliffhanger as sequel bait
^
it also wasnt really a cliffhanger tbh?
was just "oh hey this person is also around"
Thats how i felt about that last Eragon book.... Didnt conclude the way i liked and was pretty open about many things
I hate open endings
Give me my conclusion and satisfaction, damn you

Its more that it didn't really resolve the relationship between Myron and taenar, if Myron can be healed or if he's going to be paralyzed in some capacity on top of xela not dying in the warp
I mean not really?
You do realise eldar got like top medical tech right
this would be more problematic if they were some bum human pirates who dont have access to that kind of technology, or literal ships that just steer/move/shoot based on their brain and thoughts

||Xela not dying in the Warp|| meanwhile is a classic post-credits thing, a lot of warhammer novels do it here and there, its not sequel bait.
Couldnt sell a future modle If the character is dead....
Are Legion book is supposed to have name Alpha legion? Havent started reading the book yet, just have this vibe from this name
they are literally on the cover so yes
ok i finished remnant blade, it's fine
Didn't love it, didn't hate it. Some characters are a bit flat, believe it or not Lord Skintaker is not a very deep character. The techmarine side character was engaging though but most of the night lords are just night lords. At least they're not another bunch of renegades with hearts of gold
There's some pretty cool descriptions of ||the interior of a black ship||
Yeah i think the best example of that is still that one Throne of Light book
is there anything new?
Of the spoiler? I don't think so, || there's corridors that go in circles and loop back on themselves made with self repairing materials, descriptions of holding cells for psykers with standing water in them, descriptions of cogs and pistons to create endless mazes within the black ship. Some cool descriptions of the prisoners sitting shackled to the ground wearing metal hoods||
Yeah sounds about right
what about the plot, any mcguffins? Does everyone get killed in the ending again?
||I'm a little annoyed that the sisters of silence show up, get described as very cool, then do nothing and die. It's very funny that the Sisters of Battle are also there but decide to throw fanatics at the night lords and fuck off to do something better and more productive. There's a mcguffin that the techmarine side character makes to find the black ship but it's kind of whatever. In the end, Lord Skintaker basically gets everything he wants, a bit of revenge, a black ship and a lot of potential recruits. Sets out to murder, terrorize, and enslave in the Imperium. ||
||Lmao SoS get that treatment in literally everything, depressing as fuck 💀 ||
But yeah sounds like a happy ending i guess, thats good for once lol
Lord Skintaker is funny in how much of a shithead he is, if Mike Vincent improves a little it'd be fun to see more of
It's a fine first full novel, not a must read unless you're a night lord fanatic but still
Is Lord Skintaker his actual name?
Dreadful
It's fine, it's part of his culture
Can you blame him for his upbringing?
Tbh this isn't even particularly offbeat for NL
You should see how they refer to war lmfao
"The stalk, the hunt, the kill" or something for the different phases of battle plans
Having dudes running around named "the flaymaster" on the reg
They're so edgy they make Carcharodons seem kind of normal
Yea i'm almost done with the NL omnibus and what a ride
Nightlords are the edgelords of the csm
The word bearers are close behind
Huron was portrayed very differently than his Mike Brooks version. I'll need to read the Gildar Rift to go full circle
Its like how in olden times your last name would just be your occupation
Big demand for human skin in the CSM market
its weird because so many occupational names have become normalized in our era lol
Mason, Woodman, Baker, Smith, etc
I approve.
😭
The mikes brooks version of Huron is so ass everything after it has ignored it
HIT THE DECK DILARA IS ABOUT TO EXPLODE
shut upppp
Gildar Mid
Also hollow worlds
Perish
✋
Abaddon is just a discount Huron
Its true they are both bald
Abaddon has a hair squig
Thank you, I appreciate the vote of confidence
He was in one book for five minutes and is more famous than the main character my king Garro💔
He’s in a fuck ton of stuff
Therfore he’s better
Also he caused Badab
So based
HE’S A KARKING HERO IN THIS HOUSEHOLD, THAT’S WHAT HE IS PAL.
Me whenever I re-read that passage in “The Flight of the Eisenstein”
And every iteration seems completely different
He’s the same character in all of it aside from brooks
Tbh
He's wildly different in the Night Lords Omnibus too
Hi! Huge Astra Militarum fan. I'm taking a break from the gaunts ghosts books and finished the first three krieg books minus the short story.
Steel Tread enjoyer also.
Any recommendations for someone looking for a new Guard audio book to listen to while I work?
Minka Lensk’s series’ are some good ones i think 🤔
Fall of Cadia as well though while mainly a Guard book has tons of POVs
Fall of Cadia is great but it isn’t just a guard book if that’s an issue.
Great advice - would it be an idea to start with Fall of Cadia then listen to the Minka books after?
I have only experienced 40k through the perspective of the guard so far so I'm wondering if it would be a good starting point to see those other POVs
honestly i think the fall of cadia would be ideal for you to start with since it gives you an idea of what minkas witnessing and it shows off other perspectives of the imperium and of chaos while still having a lot of guard content
Thanks all. I'll get started on Fall of Cadia now c:
of course! enjoy, i had a lot of fun with that book
ADB wrote him greatly with all the mechanical shit happening in his body
I can't recall how he was in the books/novella where Honsou meets him at the tournament thing (it's been a while since my read)
Brooks wrote him terribly; master of the maelstrom was a snoozefest
I have yet to read Gildar Rift but I look forward reading it.
Well, I hope you enjoy 🙂
Has anyone read Steel Daemon by Ian St. Martin and if so how is it
Are there any books about strinking scorpions?
This from the path of the eldar series
Does GW normally double release short stories like this because that's Death and Duty on the left and No Peace Among Stars on the right
and Last Pysker, Exterminator and Those Without Mercy are in both
Yeah they do
its mostly for people that wanna consume a lot of stuff at once in anthologies so sometimes the same story can get tossed in a few for first-time readers
its why im glad they atleast put in a list so you can check it yourself
Just seems odd to see the same story in different anthologies releasing at the same time
lap it up now!!!
Yall see the new streamlined Horus heresy book?
That contains most likely the 10 original plan HH books
So apparently Titus is now officially Captain of the second comapany again and tasked with overseeing the retaking the 500 worlds. (That that was planned we can read in the first of the dark empire books btw).
I wonder when we'll see him in a novel and who'll get to write them
Who writes the best ultra marines tho? Guy Haley?
Graham McNeill used to write the Uriel Ventris books
but Guy Haley has been writing more of them lately with the Dark Imperium stuff at least
Probably won't see it in a novel, the events will be outlied and described in the Campaign books for the 500 worlds event
Also Acheran better be a dreadnought now
been a while since we had a named dreadnought
More named dreadys
Probably just the campaign books
Huh
Given how he is written in Video games its gonna be difficult to write him convincingly in novels without giving him old cato sicarius level main character energy/plotarmor and thus making him a boring over powered Mary sue.
He’s literally already a boring overpowered Mary Sue lmao
Dilara me and yous about to throw hands
Well get ready to be folded like an omelette
I mean probably but that's not the point
Yeah but at least you can play him in the existing material, making him YOUR own specific Mary Sue. Relateable by virtue of being his pilot.
That completley falls to the wayside when reading a book
I mean no? Hes his own character, not a blank slate.
Yeah but his succes is yours because you play him thus compensating at least a little for the way they wrote him. You have at least the illusion of controll.
In written media youre completley at the mercy of the writer.
He is already set up as that really stoic, unflinching, unwavering, inhuman demigod super soldier thats unreasonably chaos corruption resistant.
I wonder how you could write him relatably and well without contradicting the existing lore.
Maybe he should lose a couple of battles and face some sort of inner crisis.
Sure, he's a named, helmetless ultramarine who's resistant to chaos. But he does get accused of heresy everytime he does anything so it's fine
Inb4 Titus gets fucking thrashed
lol
The imperium has not had a good time in any of these campaign books since the launch of 8e
lol
It's funny how the Imperium always gets some sort of (albeit sometimes bitter or phyrric) Victory in novels (because the plot/reader demandeth) but the get beat the breaks off of them in codices and campaignbooks

honestly at this point
I actually want them to win 1 campaign book
not because I want them to win
but just so its less comical
Titus glazers are crazy…
Especially when they complain about any other named character
WHOOPS SORRY THOGUHT THIS WAS LORE CHAT LOL
LOL
Let me repaste it
Don’t worry homie Lion El’Jonson has returned, we shall soon begin to solo all the xenos in the campaign books.
Such shall be the duty of the Dark Angels or whatever it was Jonson said
Would be hilarious If out of all forces it would be the lion to reclaim the 500 worlds..
Especially when you recall the unremembered Empire .....
Given how these edition end events usually somehow involve all the factions I wouldn't be surprised if this is the storyline where they somehow get him to pacificus
Titus meets him and is annoyed that all the primarchs are stubborn creatures
This is psychic awakening style
So the other books are gona be disconnected
I’m 100% sure based on how GW has setup the reveals
and the books
Aren't they all set in the 500 worlds
No
If leaks are true
But those could be fake
The 500 worlds is a set of campaign books released all at once like the psychic awakening ones
Yeah, i wonder how they are going to arrange the primarchs. Probably the lion will keep going on a murderous rampage through Nihilus.
No. As far as i am aware, there are secessionists on the fringes that need to be taken care of (see first book of dark empire), there is a tyranid hivefleet from one side, necrons on another and i dont know If the word bearer/iron Warrior and death guard intrusions have been completley dealt with yet.
And i wouldnt be surprised If even the orks are still fucking around somewhere in the Ultima segementum
but why is it called 500 worlds then and why is Titus talking about reclaiming them
they're probably just setting the stage for the first book and (eventually) SM3 or a possible expansion for SM2
500 worlds is the (old) name of the ultramar Empire before or on the onset of the great crusade. And the primarch wants all of them brought back into the fold, some got lost to Chaos, xenos or seccesion.
The quest to reconquer all of those is what Titus is tasked with
It's not even new lore
You can read about it in the first book of dark empire
I know all that, but I was thinking the end event campaign will take place in the 500 worlds, which was my original question
Because those books are on the 500 worlds
It’s like psychic awakening
Where it’ll change each time
Also very likely be left in limbo for a few years like most Warzones
If the leaks are true it’s
||maelstrom corsairs vs corsairs, eye of terror for csm stuff and Armageddon for something||
holy shit that's a hard looking depiction of a night lord
That’s a pre heresy nightlord too
stop lying its from Trench Crusade
Hey what’s the bad hurron black heart book called again
Master of the maelstrom, by mike brooks
It wouldn’t even be a bad book if the main character wasn’t Huron fucking blackheart
Oh my GOD 🤣
i’m on the second book right now i’m having a lottt of fun
Finished Eisenhorn Xenos again, the last time was like 8 years ago and I didn't remember how little the first book has going for it
my old opinion of "the inquisitor saga gets better with each subsequent entry" seems to hold true
damn ||Vostroyan and Krieg team up||

||Vostroyan|| content in 2025 is fun
still chapter 2 for the Audiobook
hey where would be a decent place to start for a new comer to the black library books i know the basic lore for 40k so far im wondering if i should pick up gaunts ghost or if there is something with a psyker as the main character id like to read that
i was curious about ole greg horns story
it's quite good
now starting xenos
Hell yeah
im listening to the audio book its pretty good so far
eisenhorn talks about radical inquisitors and im like "hell yea they can kickflip"
they are very fun
ironically one of the few 40k material that actually explores the grittier parts of the setting imo lol
eisenhorn can do a 720
I read the lion book and Arks of Omen. Does the lion have any plot threads left barring protecting his vassal world and helping dante?
I can't wrap my head around which plot line will the lion be next because king arts games leaked their WIP Cutscene for ||Dawn of War IV with the lion being active on Kronus||.
Will it be generic ||We must hunt down chaos or protect Imperial Worlds|| or GW will have some big plans ||for lion post Dawn of War IV||?
His main plot line is rebuilding his legion
He has been spotted visiting several of his successors and the number of fallen rejoining the legion has risen pun not intended
If I was to make a guess he will continue to find the fallen and redeem the non chaos corrupted, kill the corrupted, then at some point begin making his way to Terra once his legion is one again.
I’ve not seen any cutscene about DOW4 but I did see the leaked code which says “lion” but it could very well just be a lion tank.
hot take : GW can't come up with new plot for the Lion that doesn't force the narrative in a positive way, so they put the Blood Ravens in his path in DoW4 so they eventually and unavoidably steal him as their Primarch.
effectively freezing his development for as long as they want to/jk
@odd skiff theres an article
its a dev interview and they forgot to censor the WIP Cutscenes
they had literal computer screens with ||The Lion, WIP Cutscenes and Animations||
let me get it
Lion was only seen in text, no?
If it says “The Lion” that does seem more promising than just “Lion”
yes
yeah it's not really a solid confirmation he'll appear in the game
they used ||The lion||
heres some example
Well based on his known current objectives I’d say we’re either getting fallen angels in dow4, a daemon primarch or some sort of large daemon incursion.
Yeah that’s a lion tank
also thanks for the info
or the Blood Ravens reveal a horrible secret that brings Asmodai on then to repent
wdym a lion tank
They named tanks after some Primarchs
Like the leman Russ and the Rogal dorn
Another was the lion
well yes but that's a Repulsor Executioner
there's no tank named The Lion at the moment
There is a Baneblade called The Lion of Macharius, but yeah no tank model called the Lion
Blood ravens be loyalist fallen who after being thrown through the warp emerged, repainted their armour and in ultimate shame changed their name
although it would be a funny redherring
Jkjk
I wouldn't be surprised if the cutscene is just named after the Lion because it involves his legion
plz be true, the tears of the DA fans will rehydrate the jerky I have instead of a heart
lol, turns out its Cypher who's been missing from DA lore for a while
Pls don’t give me hope
Hope is the first step on the road to dissapointment,
-DoW Librarian
He stole that from Homer Simpson
All the blood ravens need is cypher to turn up and steal the show
lol, that's some 4th wall meta stealing
Imagine being the main character for like three games and then this mf shows up
3 games? what 3 games? There have only been 2 DoWs. Don't make me call Asmodai on you.
oh god
that would be very funny
Cyrus adopting some random Dark Angel and the ending is just The Lion slapping you for letting Cypher trick them

Cypher once he hears “it’s good to have a cousin here to help us”
I love cypher because im pretty sure no one ever decided what his deal actually was
They have tbh
hes literally a loyalist as per his own book
its just that hes just Ethan Hunt lol
aka constantly goes rogue and everyone wants him dead
When did he get a book also lame
Yeah its very obvious hes out to help the Imperium, he doesnt do enough supervillain shit to really be considered a chaos marine even if hes still in their codex (idk i didnt check)
There was a long time everywhere he was just some mystery guy iirc and how he ended up gives me "ok we finally have to write something" vibes
your first mistake was thinking GW would ever do a rogue/renegade marine lol

you're either Chaos or Imperium
We always knew he was going to Terra for some goofy reason so it was always gonna be revealed eventually
Man you say that
you should read his book, its not that long and its fucking hilarious
hes SUCH an edgelord
I might
his entire escape from the Black Cells is hysterical
I mean hes got a hood and 2 guns can you write him any other way
same with a small company of dark angels going into terra to hunt him down
You can but writers are usually lame
I see hes the leader of the loyalist rebel dark angels, you know as you write factions
Which i also liked better when he was just some solo operator lol
Hes a lame character that was always and will alwys be lame and thats fine.
Gw seems intent on stamping out any weird or interesting characters in the least interesting ways possible
I'd argue he wasn't even enough of a character to be lame lol
Like who
He was like a weird footnote

Im still salty about O.P. the perpetual
who?
Cypher is ops brother
The second oldest eternal
Most of them have just been left to rot in older lore and not actively been talked about
WHO
Ollanius pious
Ollanius pius / perrson or whatever they changed his name
who the fuck cares about him
thats literally still his name

Your mother

I liked the original story before they took him on the time bandits adventure
Did I stutter
He still dies like a loser
its fine
Dilara denies afterlife emphatically....

to quote one of my favorite GTA San Andreas NPCs
"Life is a bitch. And then we die."

A wise man once said "life's short and hard, like a bodybuilding elf"
Edna mode and Olly Osbourne ruined my heresy
The Cypher book is genuinely funny and has markedly improved my opinion of Cypher
anyone got the new RPG Books from wrath and glory?
Do they kept Tempestus Scions for starter books?
It's really good
Gws strategy of pruning the lore by just ignoring things is always really fun to me
Just like they forgot sos
Or Like Only war expansions?
The fucking reveal of ||how the entire time es been narrating the book for the Librarian near the ending when hes reading his brain thus causing him to have a brainplosion is one of the funniest fucking things ive read in a warhammer book, i was crying from wheezing||
They're not gonna retcon things they'll just not talk about them for 30 years and hope everyone forgets
I said its fun!
banned!
Also man you reminded me
reading the new Scouring book rn
theres a scene where one of the SoS' is asking one of the slop Imperial Fists characters what will happen now post-siege
and shes like
"Will people forget us?"
and hes all
"Nah you and your efforts will never be forgotten"
LMAO
Nooooo
Why must you hurt me gw
Women = Bad 😔
Id the scouting good?
"Just ignore it" is a peak strategy for old lore you don't want to deal with
Don't explain it away, don't retcon it, just ghost it
Expensive to maintane and more mechanics?
Its fine/good i think
hold on lemme get the summary post
Incase you're curious or something
Dumb-dumb
i thought its nov 25?
Probably gonna read tomb world then kraken blood
or dec 2?
Then maybe ashes
You think we'll get full books about the primarchs disappearing
Yes.
This is very much the new HH series
they'll likely be milking it for the next 15+ years or so
Dorn leaving his magic pain glove hand behind
So his sones can carve their names into it like a teenage couple into a tree
how come people already have spoiler reviews of it, it's out in like three weeks
Lmao its very funny
the guy's german, his store had an entire shelf of the book released early, he shared a picture of it awhile ago.
guh
hahaha losers

anyway yeah i got a epub from a source, i wasnt aware it wasnt out yet whoops
I'd reckon he's gonna get some bad words from GW
Nah this happens a lot
they usually dont care because its not really something you can stamp out
not in that scale and in proper stores really
your lesbo brick
yeah, im gonna kill you with it

but talking about getting early copies of things, I got to buy Halo 4 collectors edition like 2 weeks before it was released from a local gaming store because I knew the owner, lots of international friends were really jealous but I got banned in the game until the year 9999
Halo 4
||although they took it back when I told them I bought the game legally||
nu uh
Woooow dilara for shame
Neapolitan ice cream brick 😋
I got Neapolitan ice cream sandwichs
So there's a 2 for 1 on audible atm and I'm debating what to get alongside the first Eisenhorn (book 1). Deciding between Soulhunter (book 1) or Dark Imperium (book 1).
@tall phoenix his imperial fist
This cannot be fucking real
my imperial fist
hahahaha
Lore about Ferrus Manus:
I looked up the plague war books but the description says they begin when the indomitus crusade is already started
I'm looking for the stuff leading into that
- The Carrion Throne (Vaults of Terra)
- Fall of Cadia
- The Hollow Mountain (VoT)
- The Emperors Legion (Watchers of the Throne)
- The Lords of Silence (Death - Guard solo novel)
- Avenging Son
- Knights of Macragge
- The Gate of Bones
- The Regents Shadow (Watchers)
- Ephrael Stern: The Heretic Saint
- Wolftime
- The Dark City (VoT)
- Throne of Light
- Iron Kingdom
- Martyrs Tomb
- Sea of Souls
- Indomitus
- Hand of Abbadon
- Huron Blackheart: Master of the Maelstrom
- Silent King
- Dark Imperium
- Plague Wars
- Godblight
- Belisarius Cawl: The Great work
- Genefather
- Devastation of Baal
- Lion: Son of The Forest
.
The Devastation of Baal occurs both near the start and the end of this list, due to timey-wimey shenanigans brought about by the formation of the Great Rift.
Ok. Would you recommend I start with them? I am interested in the devastation of baal and the tyranid wars
Baal is a good point to start yeah, it just gets confusing because Plague Wars were THE first proper books for Indomitus then they completely retconned them to take place at the end of all this shit
Oh lol
Alrighty I will start with baal. Thanks
🫡
Baal was the first 40k novel I wanted to read but unfortunately its an old book and they don't sell it in physical stores anymore
i recommend reading fall of cadia then watcher of the throne
vaults of terra is not great
also dont read most of dawn of fire
Legacy of Caliban
Horus Rising
Yeah Cadia's been on my list for a while, but I was planning on moving onto The Last Hunt after I finish the Ciaphas Cain omni
i highly recoomend you find time for fall
Warrior tier on YouTube have an excellent audio picture book Series on that book and the two after it
Fall of Cadia is a really good read, probably my favourite of the more recent BL novels. It really makes me wish they'd published it earlier though
Because if that had actually come out at the same time as 8th edition that would've basically saved the narrative
Its hilarious when you consider we had a novel "covering" the Fall and it was Cadia Stands which just did nothing but focus on boring Guard characters for every single chapter
this novel does the impossible of having like over 10 different POVs and making almost each of them extremely good and fun
Unironically I think its the way 40k novels should go when covering big dramatic battles
You've got a wide range of perspectives all covering different aspects of the battle, it goes through chronologically in phases and ties it all up nicely
^
Everyone from the bosses of the chaos and imperial side to the average joes on the ground is done extremely well.
I usually hate POV jumping constantly but this novel does a stellar job of it, Rath was great with it
Yeah I mean if the book was titled something like "LORD CASTELLAN: FALL OF CADIA" you'd expect it to fully focus on Creed and be like a more character-focused thing, but because it keeps to the framing of covering Cadia as an event the POV switching isn't nearly as jarring imo
Yeah covering all sides of it adds a lot to the novel, its very funny how we got a novel covering Cadia this well this late into the Indomitus timezone lol
having read Cadia Stands myself which was the sole novel covering the event before this i hope no one ever reads it 💀
Would you say fall of Cadia is a good first 40K book
Ngl I've never even heard of it
but it sounds generic af
Ehhh it's good but it covers a lot of ground in a relatively short time, I'd recommend something else
Most 40k books do
Like to get your foot in the door I'd recommend a space marine novel or Gaunts Ghosts or something
Itd be probably a bit much for a newcomer bc of all the different characters
^
I mean I’ve read most of HH I just mean actual 40K in terms of timeline
I’ve been going chronologically so I started with unification wars and now I’m at siege of terra
Oh i think youd be fine in that case
^
you'd need to have lexi on hand
Theres like 5 chaos chapters, 3 loyalists, the admech, necrons, big characters like cawl abbaddon and trazyn
Lmao yeah you'd have no idea what the fuck is even happening
especially the events surrounding the attack on Cadia itself
And the significance of it
YEP
I had people who look at it from the outside and say "why is this so important"
💀
Good book though, i liked the human chaos saboteur
My favourite was the 24th chapters. That original commander guy single-handedly changed my perspective on Cadians forever lol
Some line about going to another planet, seeing children play in the street and not knowing "they did that" lol
Its funny considering thats like a really deluded way to think about what the Guard actually does too
i never really got into those chapters but at least its good if it makes people feel emotional
Well it just immediately made me realise "Holy shit being a cadian would suck"
You're basically trained from birth to be a meat-robot that shoots things
tell them it's the Normandy landing, but the Americans are the bad guys, and they nuked Normandy.

On the one hand you've got depressed guardsmen sitting in their mountain bunkers
And then theres Servantus Glave
Who
That Kasrkin dude who spends the entire novel saying "I'm gonna take out the Despoiler"
Oh that guy lmao
🗣️
yeah i barely remember anyones name from this minus maybe Morkarth because she sounds like Morkate
lol, sounds like he missed his calling joining the Blood Angels and Death Company,
“I’m Big Es top guy”
Oh yeah he def had a bit of an ego trip
Also when he was like “i killed like 10 astartes so far, people might it took my whole company but i know it was because of me”
I would be familiar with the broad strokes of 40k lol
Funnily enough, I finished reading Harrowmaster yesterday.
Mike brooks delivering sequels
