(Ward has also written a great majority of the dialogue, lore and other stuff for Vermintide 1, Vermintide 2 and DT)
Huh. Didnt know all that. Only knew how part of the community absolutely hated him for the ultramarines fanservice including a very dense Cato SICCARIUS
Thats a very tired old meme at this point.
its older than most of the users on this server
The Internet never forgets/forgives....🤷
STORMCAST ETERNAL RETRIBUTORS™️ IN THEIR THUNDER STRIKE ARMOR™️
Sounds like an Advertisement
Yea, it does at times
That was the joke I was making
There’s no fucking way they mention a stormcast unit by name and then talk about thunderstrike armor right. Right?
Oh I thought you were quoting the book
Oh
No, I wasn’t
I was just referencing how GW does their awful product placement sometimes
Can't find the page but there is definitely a moment where it talks about the Stormcast Eternals in their thunder strike armour, don't think it mentions Retributors though
It is a physical book
Alas I cannot CTRL+F on my limited edition signed copy of the book
Oh my ducking god
There’s no way I actually hit the nail
Yea, I genuinely thought you were direct quoting from the book
Only in Death real damn good so far
Watch where you driving 😄
Mat Ward directs all the voice actors in Darktide and writes their dialogue, hes absolutely crushing it tbh
Si
And the grey knights thing
But
a lot of the other authors have "quirks" too its just gw decided to throw matt under the bus
The moment they designated him at the front of the codex as the MAIN WRITER (even though there was other people also involved) yeah he was screwed lol
Now this will never stop me from calling the grey knights armor "wardian power armor"
The character dialogue is indeed fire. Funniest shit sometimes
also turning what was supposed to be Codex: Ultramarines into Codex Space marines LOL
I mean
Not all of it.
(a great majority is a better word)
S’OK, I’m at peace with being the Forgotten One 😄
everyone forgets
<heavy breathing>
Oh no
This one uses cutting edge digital enhancement
Every time you think you’ve finished it it adds 20 extra pages
Each more boring than the last
Kyme really needs to stick to just editing
WRONG
sounds like you really want another 900 page yappathon
y-yes dan you can write several B/C/D/E/F storylines that you dont finish just please finish the fucking book without a 5th volume
Bro is mad that a book has words
I got just the thing 4 u
Can't wait to see a child get atomized
you ALL said the end and the death was too long
but when I say it.... smh
i feel like im the grandchild of a sumarian naysayer yall have some intrinsic need to disagree with me
this does in fact happen multiple times apparently
more like this
It’s reading level: Clad
Troll version: Print one exactly like the orginal but replace half the words with latin/french/arab loanwords and watch his head explode.
Next time he orders a book from abnett or a.d. Bowden Black library should just troll him and send him a dictionary with his book order in the mail

paperback on same day or do we have to wait
Order same day? Or buy if you’re somewhere w stock??
Why does 40k have children books
Money.
warhammer has some old ass fans
Is 40k even a child friendly setting
What kinda child friendly story can you tell
I enjoyed all the Vulkan books.
I mean no but its still sold to kids
I think you forget kids love violent shit lol

shonen is famously not violent at all
The writing of Warhammer Adventures is at Percy Jackson-level of maturity from what I understand of learning the reviews. There is (implied) death and fatal moments, but not "everything has turned to shit there is nothing we can do" mindset.
The best part about the Warhammer adventures thing is David Tennant and Billie Piper doing the audiobooks.

Clearly forged documents.
Funniest shit is that i can type literal curse words into this discord server and be fine but If i write out the medical term shown in clads meme my post doesnt get posted by this servers hate speech filter 😅😅😅🤣🤣
What makes it even funnier is that i am on that spectrum but am not allowed to describe myself as such 🤣🤣
Correct. I watched Aliens when I was 5 and look what a well-adjusted upstanding human being I am now.
Its one of the best paradoxes of life.
Execs always think most kids are afraid of it while a great majority love that shit
Just read the original brothers grimm for Pete’s sake
(Btw if you haven’t they’re great reads)
English translation obv
Lmaooooo this is incredible
i wish they kept the humor in 40k
Autism is v significantly heritable also so autistic primarchs confirmed
i feel like its a natural human reaction to make a few jokes when you're surrounded by unfathomable misery
Yes.
i think the current trend is that only orks can make jokes
See: firsthand accounts of those horrible wars the euros put everyone through
How can you write that Word but when i wrote it a while back DC didnt allow me to post?
It’s my special chud pass
There are only two and Eternal died in the line of duty carrying the other
I am genuinely confused
He died in a square shaped dirt block hole
😔
So the Person being autistic as well as autism is ok but the personal noun isnt?
I guess you could be calling someone else that
Most resembles a “slur” (overused term)
Yeah but you could easily convey the same slurr message but using the adjective or the noun of the condition by paraphrasing
But as we have noted it really hamstrings discussion of 40K lmaooo
In the grim darkness of the far future there is only autism
Yeah, that was my orginal point I got clown emojis for.... I havent forgiven/forgotten that
I thought they were mocking 🤷🏻
Christ idk
…. This is somehow proving the point
When in doubt i always assume i am being mocked/belligered/insulted.
Well yeah you keep punching em

Based
Stop pulling my leg before it comes off
Alright, this is enough discord for today. Im gonna bake cornbread now and kill heretics later. See ya on the morningstar maybe
Enjoy the cornbread and always willing to drag down a team’s score by being a bumbling moron
It's in the oven btw
I too finished Ushoran yesterday. I did enjoy it but I'd hoped that we'd see more of the Delusions part of the Mortarch of Delusions. I kept waiting for an instance where the ghouls see themselves as they really are as often described but it didn't happen. Although I did like the slightly uncommon story element of the main POV character being the antagonist of the story.
4/5 wish there were more of Ushoran
oh you mean The thing is the delusion is way too ******* strong and very few people actually manage to break out into that
the one that is like consistently known to break that illusion is Grand Justice Gormayne
Isn't Ushoran also known to break out of it every now and then as well
he's the source of the curse so nah
Him being the literal source makes breaking out of it a literal struggle
The other way a flesh eater can break out of the curse and experience lucidity is through soul bound but that's a whole other kind of worms
as a matter of fact his delusions are so strong it affects other Non flesh eaters
I see
@tall phoenix i LOVED descent of the angels
Clad, your dnd alignment must be chaotic neutral lol 🤣🤣🤣
Goated
very good finds
Your takes might be garbage but I can't say you're not entertaining
kino
Man, kinda wish warhammer wasn’t a war gaming thing cause I want the story to move forward faster
WHERE IS MY BOY THE KHAN JAMES?!
I know you are hiding him somewhere
wtf if warhammer weren't a wargaming thing do you know what my life would be
I would have savings
Why would u want 2 ruin things 4 me like that
Only mini I’ve bought in my life was for a dnd game
Don’t have patience to paint armies
Anytime I read a book in which Sororitas are at least mildly involved, it feels like I'm playing russian roulette waiting for that 1 chapter where a previous character gets put in a penitent engine
It's like those theories of a dystopian future where humanity is just living in boxes while being pumped full of feel-good chemicals, except the chemicals are replaced with liquid guilt
They had what we refer to as a skill issue

but im pretty sure that literally only happens in like 1 book
I can name 2 from the top of my head
first in the Asaheim trilogy (forgot the name) and in The Martyr's Tomb
nvm in the martyr's tomb he gets turned into an arco-flaggelant
something something 2 nickels
Reading Terminal Overkill.
"I knew about people with strange powers. The hive's toxins bred them. Men who could make metal cups dance on a table, juggle balls in the air without their hands..."

feed them to the astronomican immediately
Finally nearing the end of hand of abbadon
||Can't wait for literally the most important sword to be thrown aside in the lore because gw isn't gonna do anything impactful with it||
What what is happening to drachy… drachalacha… dramam… dracula the sword?
@simple cloud the other important sword
Erebus' pigsticker
||And the anathama got reforged||
Wat that shit is still around
||the shards have been floating around for a while, but they all got collected and remade into a blade called either culler or color idk which cause audiobook||
Audiobook listeners be like: yeah man its either culler or color
Spelling names from 40k is hell
It wouldn't be if you saw it written
Books are for the corrupted
Another mcguffin plot?
Apparently silent king is the last book in dawn of fire so I have absolutely no idea how this is gonna tie in
It probably wont

Yeah this is gonna get resolved in a codex or something
My prediction cause why not
Gullible is on the back foot and as he's about to be slain out of nowhere the lion appears with a steel chair
Ur a mcguffin
Reading son of the forrest, this above was the funniest
"There is no malady at work here, My LoRd, you just got old"

I legit cackled to myself like emperor plapatine for a legit minute reading that
Son of the forest has a surprising amount of kek moments
Literally pulling a sword out of thin air, on account that it wouldnt have fit in the lions ass lmao 🤣 🤪
But I do wonder who's gonna make it first: the legionbreaker to nihilus or the lion to sanctus
Probably girlyman but you never know
Gman has already been to nilihist
Well in dawn of fire he's still in sanctus so I'm definitely behind
Also pretty sure ultramar is in nihilist
The whole forrest walk thingo is trippy as fuck too...
And the kicker is, Lion "i have to be in control at all times, i cant ever trust or relax" El Johnson needs to learn mediation (letting shit go)in order to somewhat control his new found ability AND, get this, he learns that from a no name grizzled old former destroyer seargent lmao.
Supposedly....
Welcome to 40k where everything we've forgotten where it came from gets deified/turned into a relic, including the emperor lmao
Nah it's not
"im not scared. You'd come apart in the last moments, just like cadia"
Never, zabriel is awesome. But i will badmouth the princess in chief, lion el johnson, all day long. If he didnt ban luther and half the Legion, this Fallen shit would never have happened lol.
Ok that's 30k lion he was an idiot
40k old ass man is trying to be a better dad
#remembernemiel
Nothing wises you up like being thrown 10000 years through the warp
Bro wasn't thrown he was just a bit eepy
He's just like me fr....
High time. all it took was the fuck up of his life that shattered his legion/homeplanet and a 10.000 year nap....💀💀💀💀
Totally worth it 💀💀💀
Perturabo level impertinence
Mebee, but Luther /did/ try to have him murdered through malicious negligence and Zahariel attempted to help cover up Luther having a change of heart. If Zahariel hadn't been there it would have been over. But he should have reported it to the lion. Period.
The real mistake was not killing Luther outright.
And giving peterturbo all them titans
If we count all the mistakes made during the horus heresy we would need a book series about... 60 books long (wink)
It's been 10000 years, let bygones be bygones
He should have kept Luther close. Why would you entrust a man who almost had you killed with an entire Army and planet? Luther still loved the lion and even tried to disarm the device, so i dont think it would have been necessary to execute him
The lion should have confronted him and then enacted the right policies. Not banish a guilt ridden, proud, stubborn and thus easily manipulated man to a semi forge world/recruitment world full of space marines and weapons on a planet that is teeming with the "dark side of the force"
That was always the lions problem and the reason i dislike him so much. He never FUCKING talked about his issues and thoughts and plans. Authority without communication and trust is blind and helpless.
That's why I love him so much in son of the forest cause he's clearly struggling with explaining things to his son but he's still trying
Like bro got the tism but he's trying
Luther decided to hide it from the lion to get him killed, then he went back on that. He should have been executed and Zahariel should have reported it the second he saw what was going on. The lion should have just killed Luther, keeping him close would have been more trouble than it was worth, and it was weakness to spare him and send him home with a fucking army.
True. Shame it took 10.000 years and the shattering of a planet and a legion for self reflection and self love to kick in but better late than never
The lions character now in current lore is much better than it was in the heresy.
The Lion loved him and Luther did in return. I believe he could have been redeemed. At the point of the first betrayl luther still believed in the Lion and the great crusade.
On that we finally agree at last
I understand where you're coming from, but thats not a 40k'esque (30k'esque i guess)?) way to resolve that issue between them. The 40k answers are always the worst option, which is why Luther was sent home with a legion to break the planet. If you wanted to resolve it in away that didn't break the planet, but did cause damage. The lion having to kill his "father" is a much better way to handle the issue. But we need Zahariel alive, and unhappy with the imperium so that he goes off and does the things he does later in the heresy. So the only solution was to have him punished along with Luther. Unless they wanted to spin off Zahariel an entirely different story line to have him end up in the same place later on.
The only satisfying ending is definitely Luther dying. Doesn't even need to be at the hands of the Lion. Something along of lines of Luther being forgiven (or even refusing to be forgiven) and then dying at the hands of ||John Mother Fucking Grammaticus!||
I wouldn't put it past them.
I'd want Zahariel to be Cypher but I'm also prepared for GW to fumble that whole storyline.
I'd even take Corswain for shits and giggles.
cypher has been lucius the whole time!
I didn’t read all that but what I’m getting is
John Grammaticus model confirmed
11th edition imperial agents faction is just him
THE imperial agent
2000 points 1++++ plot armor save
John Grammaticus is the Imperium.
So true king
Is this some Horus joke I'm too 40k pilled to understand
Do I read paths of damnation, war boss or start the space wolves books
Got like another month until I need to torture myself with another dawn of fire book
I am also open to suggestions cause I have a credit or two on audible
Elemental Council rocks
It's a bit of a slow burn, I'll say I was a little uninvested for the first 80-ish pages, but it's a long book and after that I've been super hooked
I didn't give a crap about the Tau at all prior to reading it but it is really, really good
read the buried dagger
sorry death guard I was unfamiliar with your game
they're actually pretty cool
also loved Malcador in it and the Knights-Errant, though I was a little confused about how the Emperor appeared before them when hes supposed to be on the throne
look for a new book
ask the store clerk if it's horus or heresy
she doesn't understand
I pull out an illustrated diagram explaining what is horus and what is heresy
she laughs and says "it's a good book sir"
buy it
it's horus
horus what
I want to get into the books, need a good place to start.
pinned messages 🫡
Thank ya
learn alphabet
your favorite perpetual 😌
😔
Horsehair
horus hairesy
Buddy at work recommended the red tithe
That happens once a month
Idk I'm just so lost on what to read next, and trying to stay away from the heresy because I'm not even close to mentality ready for that
Is it a good book?
No idea, but sharks are cool
Both Charcaradon books are great
Good enough I guess
Its a very okay book.
Id say read Elemental Council though as said above
its a lot different and fun than another space marine book
Dilara do you have any space Marine books that you do like? Because every time one is brought up it gets the same it's ok response
Yeah I got quite a few lmao
Lukas the Trickster, Ragnar Trilogy, Know No Fear, Echoes of Eternity, Dead Sky Black Sun, Gate of Bones, Cypher Lord of the Fallen, Renegades Harrowmaster, etc etc.
Sus space wolf overrepresentation
Outgunned is so fun, I'm sad I waited so long before reading it
Shard is such an asshole I love her
I suggest reading the entire series
Above and Beyond after it is one of my all-time favorite 40k books
Shard is also indeed an absolute cunt lol
I've got Above and Beyond and I think I've got the Trial of Lucile von Shard
Just need Starstruck and Own Worst enemy
- Trial of Lucille Von Shard (Short)
- Outgunned
- Starstruck (Short)
- Own Worst Enemy (Short)
- Above and Beyond
Is the reading order
Trial is not that big of a deal but the other 2 shorts are somewhat needed to understand some stuff in Above
they are very fun
Nice thanks, I'll be sure to get them before moving onto Above and Beyond
🫡
Happy to help, Above did a thing most 40k novels never managed for me where i almost teared up/felt a lot of things lol
It starts out as a very run of the mill novel before it just goes a ton of places.
Wat
wtf
K adding 2 list
Its a very fun adventure story i think, which is rare for most 40k books
Also the reading order

its pretty much an anime about a tsundere pilot i read a summary somewhere
ugh its not like i wanted you silly propagandist....
Shes not a tsundere pilot and she has no feelings for Simlex.

bro really is projecting his weebness, cannot escape this
read a summary
explains a lot
shes just very very cynical
Yeah I agree as someone that also extremely hated her at first lol
What other novel series are about commissars other than Ibram Gaunt, Yarrick, and Ciaphas Cain?
Edit: Severina Raine books
Thats it really
you described em all lol
Raine, Gaunt, Yarrick and Cain are the main 4 commissar runs
Wait wait wait you liked Lord of the fallen. I thought you didn't for whatever reason
I didnt like it, it doesnt mean I hated it.
I legit think its a really funny book lol
I was more in the middle with it
I like William King tbh

My number of favorite space marine books are very low few lmao
Dilara seems like she'd be a world eater fan, given how strongly she always tears in to clad for his takes (Kharn-like behavior)
Broken Crusade was fun aside from 1 or 2 things 🙂
Does Dilara have a kill counter y/n
I’m sure it’s been discussed but I just found out we are getting another Carcharodon novel from Robbie MacNiven
Nice
Almost done with The Emperor Gift, ADB always making bangers.
It’s v good!!!
Just got to Bjorn the Fell-Handed.

The grumpiest coffin to have ever walked the universe.
And deservedly so
It's all the same picture lol
she only let the guy take one good picture of her
otherwise shes drunk or something
She had one really bomb ass photo and she didn't want it to go to waste
Well 1 is different at least

also GW puts no effort into short story covers lol
queen of the boring answer strikes again
Its reality, either lap it up or stop being a wojak

I assumed it was just like a meeting between the big chair guys and they're like "do we really wanna pay the artist to make another cover or do we just hoard more money?"
I get why tho and cant complain since these are like 20-30 page long shorts, why bother with generally unique covers (minus some exceptions)
Yeah pretty much
One of the things I enjoy so much about Outgunned is how refreshing it is that the author lets Shard be an asshole, so many other authors would have her soften or reveal that her harsh exterior is just a front fairly early on, but Denny Flowers actually just lets her be a complete ass.
The scene where Simlex is basically having a stroke due to having 3 months of recorded footage instantly downloaded directly into his brain and is trying to warn everyone about an attack by pointing out the window and she's just like "Yes Window, that's called a window, can you say Window?"
Yeah Above & Beyond explores it way more as the sequel book.
it was one of the few bits of the novel that actually made me pause because I fucking hated Shard a lot beforehand, shes a really good well written asshole character lol
So i liked Bloodlines but it feels like it's incomplete
"How so"? she asked, while silently loading her boltgun, clads taxidermied and mounted head shining behind her on the wall in the dim gloom of her evening candles
LOL
Eh, just how i imagined how your "how so" came about. Not the best attempt of writing but its almost 1am so i'll graciously forgive myself for the lack of lyrical quality.
my body will corrupt all into hating legion
your body will help sustain me with shark fin soup
^ 90% soup
I thought we would get some actual GSC stuff
Like ||Udmil is very clearly GSC or has GSC in her bloodline, and all the rejuve stuff is a plan to spread the genes around||
We dont really know that.
The "GSC" "hints" are also like extremely loose.
theres almost zero setup for it, the rejuvination stuff is also just an unrelated crime thing, the entire point of the story is that it is just a henious thing that nobody cares about because the murder of these young people is just seen as inconsequential
Tying it into genestealers would be very stupid and makes no sense, the cult scenes are just to show the main character having his own hidden "hobbies" essentially when hes off-duty, its left to the reader to figure out whats it really about.
Well i never thought the MC was GSC, but like the book constantly drops references to GSC, people with strange proportions and pink skin, the mention of a crashed ship that apparently had xenos on board, udmils ex husband dropping that line about how there's something cursed about her bloodline and whatnot
I wouldnt really say "constantly", a lot of those mentions are in regards to how shitty the underhive life in Alecto is but I guess I can see the confusion.
They also directly namedropped Genestealers
I just really really felt like it was gonna go into a GCS reveal
And the book is called "Bloodlines" so I expect Bloodlines to actually be a much more important plot point
"You say that, but I have this contact in the dockyard and she told me-"
Maybe it's just confirmation bias but I feel like there's enough references to GSC that it can't be overlooked
Again, I did really like the book, and want to write my own 40k detective novel even more now
No spoilers no spoilers
I’m saving that one for a rainy day
Make sure the day isn't too rainy
I'll just say that not enough books delve that deep into the actual horror of the warp
Wraight writes probably the best prose in 40K
Just on a stylistic use the English language to its fullest like you’re from the same island as Milton and George Eliot level
the same slightly shite island
I like Gaunt's Ghosts a lot, but there are some bits thare are grimdark for the sake of being grimdark and it all feels rather pointless, it's like yeah, yeah everything is le bad. But with sea of souls it all weaves into this mosaic and when you finally realize it goes so hard
If this got you down that bad then id suggest reading the anthologies in the other Crime books
Huh
Empreror on the golden throne looking ass actually that's not too bad at all
Ok ok good a year is fine
also with 38 Shorts + 5 novels I think its pretty well for the time being lmao
Warhammer Crime is an imprint of novels, short stories, and audio dramas by Black Library Publishing, featuring stories in the detective and crime genres.[1] It launched in 2020 with the release of Bloodlines and "Dredge Runners".[2]
Black library is a pretty amazing thing.
Sometimes it feels like they got half of the UKs writers employed
I love that they do the open submissions thing
Yeah it’s totally location / situation specific
Brits are just amazing writers
Also actors
JK Rowling jumpscare
They know a lot of things about living under a dystopia so its probably that lol
Not much else to do in the fog and shit eating beans for breakfast
It's called a pint over here
Anyway not Warhammer but I say again if anyone has not read Middlemarch you must
It is required 4 being a complete human that is all
Also Hilary Mantel. Wolf Hall.
That woman writes men better than any man I’ve read.
But sometimes it's also pretty annoying, because people go "oh you haven't read it? it's in one short story that only exists in an omnibus published in 2008"
sometimes it do be like this
Absolute cinema✋ 🤚
I saw Noah Van Nguyen wrote one or two
Just finished Sea of Souls as well, most likely the best one in the series
Also, Chris is the Nicest Man in the World.
Yep
do you guys think 40k or horus heresy books are better
There are great books in each but both have plenty of books that are filler at best.
yeah but which would you say has the best quality overall
i'd say 40K
Now mind you my familiarity with horus heresy is rather lacking and I'm sure there is good books on it
but with 40K it has the advantage of having other things besides humans and marines mind you if you enjoy them good for you but with 40K it's an advantage because if you don't want to learn about humans you can read about orcs if you don't want to learn about them you can read about Tau and so on
that is true
at least 40k ones got some variance most of the time
Alright we have now thrown the chum in the water now we just wait for a certain shark to swim here
I've only read one and a half 40k books and nearly all the horus heresy 😭
someone pull up the chart for HH books
nah I've just been lent the books
not a dime spent
yet
i do plan on buying physical copies for myself of books I particularly like
if you're gonna get into warhammer literature just go to 40K because you have flexibility in there by having other factions
i am excited for that
I just feel obligated to finish horus heresy
Im so close to the end I might as well finish it
with HH it's literally marines 24/7
it is
I dont care too much for marines I just really like the imperium as a whole
I enjoy reading more about malcador and the emperor than the marines
only 30k marines I really find interesting are blood angels, sons of horus, iron warriors, and alpha legion (though the latter is not too fun to read about imo unfortunately)
How many books did you read
The Horus Heresy is a series of novels, anthologies and audiobooks based on the historic events known as the Great Crusade and the Horus Heresy, about 10,000 standard years before the present 41st millennium. The novels are written by different authors, but follow the same storyline - the fall of Warmaster Horus and his campaign of treachery to ...
and where are you on this list atm

Im currently finishing up solar war
So just the siege of terra
yeah I skipped through a lot of solar war ngl
i wonder what the next chapter will be, more void warfare who would have guessed!
And mersadie
who is probably the least interesting of the horus rising cast
In this book ive only been reading the parts with abaddon, sigismund, and malcador, I don't really care much about the others
I also hate the dragging out
the traitors are gonna fucking reach Terra
I WONDER HOW, OH NO BULLSHIT MAGIC PORTAL
yeah I really don't care about some celestial alignment mumbo jumbo
im here to watch my favorite manchild perturabo, the primarchs, and malcador
Id say while you're at it
Skimread Solar War
Skimread Lost and the Damned
Skimread First Wall
Completely skip Sons of Selenator (literally has NOTHING to do with Siege, isnt even set on Terra)
The person who lent me the siege of terra books didnt even have that book included
Thats my first time hearing about it
oh are mortis and garro bad
Mortis is just titanporn, it gets VERY boring, one of the only Siege books thats universally somewhat panned
yeah I do not care about warporn
I love watching action on screen but for some reason I hate reading it
Garro is just... well its just Garro going against Mortarion, getting wounded, Vader moment of "JOIN ME GARRO" and he goes "Nah fuck you Morty" and gets him with a jab and dies and the book ends lol
its a waste of time
I might read garro anyway just cause I like garro and want to see his story through
morty grew on me a bit too after buried dagger
it's good if you like Garro
Yeah fair enough
Morty is just a cartoon villain in this
but if you wanna read it for Garro go for it
same
but hes like HILARIOUSLY evil
he says since garo denied him hes gonna make make him get posessed and follow him around forever
like okay Megatron, what else
join me garro, or else ill kill these puppies!!!
That’s why Huron Blackheart was a fun villain to write, he’s just as mad as a sackful of wet mice
Less threats, more mindless slaughter
🙂
Shes right!
honestly they're better off writing chaos marines like that cause when they give them character they just come across sounding stupid cause their logic for turning bad is so clearly flawed
cough cough horus
You'll never make me pay my taxes!!!
right
normal people
*losers
taxes pay for good roads and public services!
ok but the galaxy is so big why cant i just have my cool little mini empire
Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need roads.
space roads
look man i don't know how we can put ferrocrete in the warp to make roads there so unfortunately that won't be possible
not with that attitude
We're gonna build a wall around the Maelstrom and make the Chaos Marines pay for it
🫡
Pour 100 billion tons of cement into the warp
Make road from there
me dumping car batteries into the warp
Thank you Huron
dorn will come back from the dead so he can build the imperiums grand intergalactic highway
He’s the hero we need
ah yes make the illegal heretics pay for it genius
The Imperium definitely needs a hand right now.
Mortis is so tedious
I felt like I was going into mortis
rigor mortis more like am I right 💀
problem with mortis is that it favors some builds for funmaxxing and you may not get those talents
like only deathdealer actually does anything as a major blessing
and only the minor blitz blessings do anything
yes game i want to fart fire while the psyker gets free assail shards on kill and the ogryn has regenerating nukes
I was so confused for a second.
There is no fun to maxx in Mortis by John French
eww who reads knight books
ewwww
i assumed it was mortis trials because knight books being shit is the only thing dilara and i agree on
All the time for a while (am also occasional BL writer).
I didn't think this phrase could get dumber. Thank you for proving me wrong.

always happy to help lol
Wdym last incident was a long time ago on prospero
in theory*, in practice the roads are ignored and public services are terrible
Make
Atoma
Great
Again

Always a good place to lay some blame
They are nuts
chat make this guy drive at night
So true

god damn the used price for the Gaunt's Ghost omnibuses after The Saint rise exponentially per book
I was able to get The Saint omnibus for $10, then when I checked for The Lost the lowest is $75

Me buying the audiobooks for £4-6 each
Warhammer physical media is an expensive way to lose your sanity (and money)
Audiobooks are just not for me. I am mainly a visual learner. Details are lost to me if I have to listen from someone instead of reading on a screen or paper. And I have used e-books for college courses for the past 4 years due to... cost savings that reading a physical book is so pleasing now.
Was it the reason for all the fucked ups shit happening there
Honestly I guessed that early on (don’t ask me how) but it was more everyone’s reliving his memories and regrets and seeing loved ones etc.
Also yeah the reveal ||which emphasized that the manifestations were basically created by the yearnings and fears of the individuals||
I was sure it was either what happened actually or ||Milo because of the pipes||
It was an excellent book, among my favourites in the series thus far
And ||removing Gaunt was an interesting smart move obv||
Is the agents of the imperium collection a good way to get into Eisenhorn or is it better to get them individually and in the right order?
If you want to know Eisenhorn, read the Eisenhorn omnibus...? Agents of the imperium is unrelated to him. Not sure what you want to say.
hey wanting to get into warhammer lore with books anyone have a good suggestion for a first book?
Pinned messages has an excellent list just for that 🫡
hows the cadia series?
i might do that next if i ever get the motivation
its either that or ahriman
what's the cadia series
Cadia is a novel series by Justin D. Hill covering the Cadian Shock Trooper Minka Lesk during the 13th Black Crusade and beyond.
all of the cadia books I know of are one offs
idk isnt it a series?
oh I always thought those as the Minka Lesk series
I've not read/listened either, Ahriman is more interesting to me at least
Generally mid/ok.
Minka isnt a bad character but every book kinda feels like "another guardsman story no.29120"
JUST ANOTHER DAY AT THE GUARD
Eisenhorn: Xenos
what does it even mean?..
We have our best people on it
it is pure wisdom from the fountain of wisdom
Wow, such English
Sigsen… do you… do you call ur bumhole the fountain of wisdom
Bc if so unfathomably based
Sigsen plz we must kno
Why are there no new entries in the warhammer crime s´novel series? The best books in the universe I've come across.
The imperium made a law outlawing crime
damn, that sucks
we do not know
I know
I know, I'm just venting.
Are there any other books centered around the "normal" lives of imperial citizens?
Assasinorum Kingmaker has a little bit, but thats Knight house life
and its again, just a little bit
Oh, that's a good one, listened to the audiobook.
Did you like
read EVERY single Crime thing?
all the anthologies and books?

thats all of them
Clad
id rather read a transcript of csi miami YEAAAAAA

Crime enjoyers, what shall we do with Clad
Shoot him through the skull what else
or sharkfin soup
for future refrence this was ||bait||
Force them to read every Spess Mahreen schlock book
im too dense wont effect me
u can have my meat any day
ayo
i had one beer
Not the short stories to be honest. ARe they any good?
im tots buzzed ok?!
The anthologies are hit and a miss, theres a lot of good ones in it
ITS VORBIN TIME
god the reveal in that book
is so good, regarding the ship crash
Fr
ngl my last book in Warhammer Crime being Clear as glass
was certianly a choice from me
not that clear as glass is bad
just why was that my fucking reading order
Ok, thanks for the suggestion!
No worries, do you read them digitally or physical?
dude
I started with Clear as Glass too LMAO
I was like "whats even happening"
then I read the anthologies and was like "ooooh"
Digital. Too stingy for physical.
probably my favorite
would love a series around that probator
he appears in some of the shorts!
Oh, that's nice!
Yeah almost every Short in the Anthologies is unrelated but theres some overlapping characters.
Theres a fav of mine Ornthoptera whos like a freaky assassin for example that can shapeshift and does contract killings and so on.
Baggit and Clodd also got a really fun/depressing one in there too lol, Gutter Angels i think
but yeah my tip is read all of them in order but feel free to skimread any you dont like, most of the stories are very fun still
I now also figured out what my Arbites will be called hehe
Any good Arbites books out there?
I need to read em. Do they have a real life Lex book I can read and study?
Like actually real books and I can physically open em and read em and own em?
No, the Lex imperialis in universe is so big you need a literal library to hold just the basic volumes
For arbite books
The Shira books are old
But good
Damn, I was hoping I could own something IRL.
Oh thanks, I'll check em out.
They’re drafted from the schola from like
People who are too physically strong/psychotic/good at shooting to just be trained for high level scribe duty
Relatable characters, nice.
Well
If you can memorize a small libraries worth of laws and how to apply them
You’ve got a kindred spirit ig
I would like to mention some of the laws in the Lex imperialis are batshit insane
Should be enough IQ
And rarely enforced
To the scions you go
Currently reading Era of Ruin
Its mid.
Im halfway through it and im not impressed with any of these short stories
Yeah im gonna agree since its titled CARRION LORD OF THE IMPERIUM
But ill post a full short-review once im done
🚬 i told you its gonna have a valdor story

Im at the Sisters of Silence one by Abnett now
god damn its dreadful
"IM NOT USED TO PEOPLE NOTICING ME OWO"
Page 11 out of 24 and again literally nothing but fightporn
oh my god man 💀
Eh, story telling is overrated. Give me Michal Bay-esque bolterporn and violence all day so i can turn my brain off and have a good time
smh just turn on your bullshit cuff girlie
how the fuck does that work anyways
does bequins cuff have a mini psyker inside it?
Just disable the nothing, easy
What gets me is Abnett writing a story this pointless
it explores nothing and I could have easily skipped it.
Just finised the one with Ahriman which was also just nothing, augh
Almost done....
SAY IT AIN'T SO 😩
When im in an assasinate the emperors character competition and adb shows up
Ahrimans story was nothing?
So one could almost say....
All is dust 💀💀💀

I skipped straight to the last one wololololo
It’s ok 6/10
A true wizard
||Diocletian walks around and also remembers stuff||
||We get some more details about the beginnings of the Primarch Project and uh the breaking of the webway gate but nothing that hasn’t already been implied. There are no new secrets or tidbits. We I suppose get more blatant “hints” that primarchs are made heavily of warp stuff, and Diocletian bitterly even says in an imagined conversation with the primarchs that the emperor is not their father — their fathers are cavorting in the warp, delighted at what their progeny have wrought.||
🚬 we kinda new that tho didnt we?
We do learn that the Custodes ||or at least the inner circle had an alternative vision and was against the PP. They wanted to lead the common men of the Imperial Army in the Crusade||
Yes.
Valdor in particular is here portrayed as ||secretly emotional and soulful, and is the prime champion of the plan by which baseline humanity would reconquer the stars, led only by Him and the 10,000||
Which may be a hint @ his motivations or not
i was hoping for ||more direct stuff relating to bequin and the king in yellow plotlines||
Clad, ive seen fishnets that didnt have as many holes as your memory...
No wonder youre studying engineering, you probably have the din norm book/number tables tatooed on your arms 🤣
I mean big C does appear a lot.
He is a cool character
The above re the 300’s (that’s the inner circle) alternative plan I think might be important. It’s not that surprising but it’s interesting.
I wonder, is valdor still loyal to the emperor? Thats what i wanna know
ye he is
Y… es. But if he thinks the Astartes are a mistake and now we see ||there was an alternative plan|| he may be disloyal to the Empire as it is.
cmon he was like a z level character
We see a huge amount of tension between the custodes and ||Guilliman|| also
theyre made from him theyre allowed to have a bigger say or at least they think so
YOU MUST REMEMBER EVERY SINGLE MINISCULE DETAIL
I am Alpharius
We are Legion
Like Diocletian and his squad consider ||killing him before he sets himself up to lead the Imperium after the Emperor is interred||
Diocletian almost does it
Knife’s edge
But, could they? He is Constantin fucking valdor? Anything short of the primarchs probably couldnt kill him
Ah. Even more difficult to pull off
Hmm
Possible.
But desastrous
So it’s good Custodes character writing and it’s as I thought mostly low key & flashbacks
I guess there are some other good bits. It is ADB
Diocletian has this especially unclouded pov
So it’s good. His character has developed tho like he ||gives a little kid his cloak||
Another striking thing from the story is Dio kind of sees the Emperor as he is. Like he has a special insight or something.
And according to Dio, just after Magnus ruins everything, while the Emperor is directing the emergency efforts, He is panicked and ||weeping||.
So there is that.
That was probably the most powerful bit.
my theory is that he knew 40k was a possible outcome and he didnt want to stay on the golden throne he wanted to die and respawn
I don’ t think he would have respawned normally
Possibly would have gone out of control and become the human Slaanesh (bad)
Maanesh
/ the Durk Kang etc etc
Other bits notable to me… well we get a description of the Throne that is a little to fan-servicy to me.
In that it’s very clearly meant to invoke first this
Then this
Down to the random blood bag
I prefer Chris Wraight’s magnificent description which is admittedly 10k years later. But with something so important you want a new description not a series of little nods to old art.
And of course the description should be indirect and sparing.
But it should be new.
smh u have no evidence to support that
he rejected the power in the end
I guess the last thing is that the story takes place quite a while after the end and the death, and at the end Dio goes to the Emperor and ||asks him a question (do you dream). Which implies that at this point the Emperor was communicating in some way w the Custodes. But we knew that.||
Or
He doesn’t expect an answer idk
But it seems like he does.
The story ends right there.
Dude
Yes when fully whole and rational
F
Yeah im at the techpriest short story rn
ngl this book is really dissapointing
literally covers almost nothing interesting
i hope at least the Emperor short is good
rip
GULIMAN ACTUALLY SAID THAT 😭
Funny thing is, i made that joke without reading that story

What, is it bad 💀
AAAAUGH
John french has the same dumb humor like i do lmao
horus is no longer a traitor...... he is an arch heretic.... in my UNREMEMBERED empire....

AAAAAAA
Okay so funny thing
we actually already know this
Valdor says this to the Emperor
so we again get nothing new

You will get your reused, reheated slop and youll like it

cant belive they fucking delayed bequin 3 for this
No worries, Clad, it'll happen just in time for your grandkids to read it to you at your deathbed
What gets me is like
almost 5 of these stories dont even explain anything regarding the aftermath of the Siege
Look man Diocletian walks around a lot ok
A lot
And thinks thoughts ok
book chat will never admit clad was right about ALL athologies being shit
John Grammaticus 2.0
Because you are wrong.

🙄
we never said this was gonna be good
it was literally just: "Eh we'll see, i dont expect much"
I really expected something new in the last one
Same
this is such a waste of time
pfff
the fact that you even skipped all the stories
read the last one
and was still dissapointed
speaks volumes
One could almost be forgiven to think black library had these laying around and was looking for the least awkward and soonest opportunity to get rid of them lol
Pure padding

LMAO
not you dingleballs
Yeah like I legit tried to like these stories but its NOTHING but padding
We know....💀
REGARDLESS after the fucking mess that the calth anthology was
theyre all dead to me
noooo u dont get it this story from the pov of a knife is essential to the plot
Thats why everyone in here loves you 🫠😘
there is a story with a fulgurite knife in this btw
let me post my review of it
Thx for sacrificing yourself, so i know what not to buy/read.
It will not be forgotten 🫡
Fulgurite: Follows Barthusa Narrek aimlessly wandering around the wastes of Terra during the Siege, not even its aftermath as hes looking for Lorgar still to shank him with the fulg dagger, mostly filled with nothing but boring exposition of him stalking some deserter convoy of non-chaos humans until he rescues like the last 3 survivors, a storm comes and they go into some bunker to randomly meet Bile whos doing generic evil experiments on flesh golems, they talk for like 2 pages, Bile acts like a cat, his golem attacks, Narek and the now 2 humans avoid it and escape the bunker.
He ditches the humans to go find Lorgar (who was never on terra to begin with lol) using the fulg-dagger as a compass, he reaches the destination, ||SURPRISE ITS EREBUS AND HE STABS NAREK!|| He gives a Starscream speech of pity before leaving as Narek has a crashout, clutches the fulg-dagger and prepares to fight daemons approaching him while heavily bleeding out.
Barthusa Narek was a member of the Word Bearers during the Great Crusade and the Horus Heresy.[1]
“Constantin,” rasped the husk that had once been a man — a king, a counselor, a guide. “Constantinnnnn…..” Valdor leaned close, his skin itching from the electrical discharge that suffused the chamber, that rolled across his lord’s tortured body. “Constantinnn… the new Emperor… of Mankind… must be… Johnn… Johnnnnn… Grammaticusssssssss.”
i remember him he was the guy that said the line "we are no longer bearers of the word but barers of lorgar" right?
“What the fuck,” said Constantin Valdor
Yep
and here he is
dying like a nobody
Wait a minute
Constantin

NO WAY

I knew someone woukd do this lmao
flashpoint is fun
He’s good in Sandman (the books)
hes up there with Hellboy as one of my favorite "paranormal detective" trope characters
Bruh I legit thought this would be a good collection
The setup seems so good
Did everyone’s imagination just fail
Take a shot every time obliterator is mentioned
Ok I know I’m being that guy here but it really annoys and confuses me that ADB uses “that” instead of “who” all over the place.
It just seems sloppy
Yeah I’m not really complaining he brings a lot to the table.
Honestly I maintain that McNeill is among the best at crafting balanced narratives
Deffo.
Forges of Mars is a really satisfying trilogy.
Yeah it’s not all great and the Han Solo character is a bit much but it’s nicely crafted and doesn’t have eg Abnett’s occasional bloating of particular bits
And I honestly really remember Outcast Dead for some reason
he's good in most things
its a shame the tv show failed
I feel like Haley is steadily improving as a writer.
I chose his story to read next and it’s pretty affecting so far.
God fucking damn it this Kyme story
Why do Named Characters have to be in it this isn’t a marvel comic
DUDE KYME'S ONE IS SO BAD
this one took me hard, very sentimental. An idea of a questing knight finally finding his cryptonite. And an odd thing, a person from Dan Abbnets book continued by a different author. Im still reading through End of Ruin, but first impressions are gigachad good, still trying to grasp, accept the thing that never occured to me, that silent sisterhood is very lonely. kinda odd, dunno why it feels like that
Yeah im sorry I didnt care 💀
the entire bunker plot was such a waste of time with Narek
him getting dunked by Erebus is also like lmfao
