Actual good novel
definitely the best
Vs kelly slop
the other two idek
Phil kelly isn’t even a bad writer
gave up on the second
He just sucks at writing Tau lmao
I didn’t really mind it, it was ok, but I’m a sucker for any enclaves content or xenos in general
i can see others enjoying it, but god they are NOT my favorite
the story of a sm novitiate was fire
especially of the sw’s
the later narratives were meh
Yeah but I don’t want mid books ever
I want good books

WARHAMMER CRIME RELEASE ANOTHER NOVEL AND MY LIFE IS YOURS
AGUSTO
i need agusto back
my personal favorite novel is prob the second Eisenhorn book
Malleus? idr
Granted but mechanicus is now completely character reliant and will be treated as the worst faction in the game
I’ll play admech regardless of if they’re shit tier or not
I played the faction when it had a 27% winrate
You do not scare me
Ok then i sentenced you too only playing kogmaw and grind league to challenger your nonstop
whats wrong with a challenge
I don’t tilt from league

I’m immune to such weaknesses
Anyways GW please release better books on average
If we’re gona have so few releases
I miss 8e when we got a fuck ton of books constantly
Even if like over half of them were mid to awful
Best i can do is Jude reid
What the hell was gw cooking on that one
A primarch book
Where the focus is not the primarch
There is cooking then there is food poisoning
i need Pandemonium
now
i was actually discussing a theory with a friend
the yellow king is Malc
Elemental council was very good though
and even if they dont have crazy importance, i really want to see more of the Immateria Collegia
My question about the farsight books is where does Fire and Ice piece into the order
I think Peter Fehervari writes Tau well
I did like Blade of Truth for its brief glimpse of how oppressive tau society is
Fehervari writes everything well
Dark coil is peak
Hell yeah
i didnt know Dan wrote an Aliens short story
Maybe i should try reading noah's aos book
mf is in everything
He’s good at writing
What’s the name of the planet that’s largely Gue’vesa in the enclaves?
He seems to cook so hard when it comes to writing books
I miss karkasy
believe it or not thats my alias
why do i have to listen to some random perpetual make a random ""space marine"" killer weapon that i know will never be refrenced outside of the horus heresy
what was the name? fo something?
Fo is not a perpetual
actual goldfish attention span
Also because Abnett wanted to be Abnett. And his name is Basilio Fo
my bad """"immortal"""""
Hes not immortal.
He literally fucking says he just slightly extends his lifespan with gene-science lmao
WHERE IS OMNI MAN?!?
he said hes been alive since the dark age of tech
MALCADOR
thats what i said
I NEED YOU MALCADOOOOR
As usual just like eternal reward he thinks he is never wrong
nuh uh
i believe i am close enough
eternal believed (emperor rest his soul) that he was 100% correct
Its not immortal, he's
They will look for Eternal’s coming from the white tower
but he will not return
"im about to throw hands with a child"
"ill get the shovel"
"ill drive"
Which novel is abbreviated as EaTD?
aaaah, okay
Thank you, sah
🫡
the end and the slop
The End and the GWstealingyourmoney
Harrowmaster was good
I legit stopped in place listening to it at the twist... Holy shit
The Alpha Legion book right

Yeah great book love all mikes books so far
I think what makes his books special is they arent too serious and acknowledge that the setting itself is pretty goofy.
Like I love the beginning bit where the Alpha Legion marines are like:
"Hey lets use that Hydra cannon to shoot down the planes."
"Hehe, hydra, like our thing."
I am alpharius
I highly doubt that
the average AL dude is absolutely sick of the I am Alpharius bit nowadays
It’s so funny
Over 10,000 years
Of some asshole every warband
Muttering about “I am Alpharius”
I love how they also say AL who act like they are "loyalists" while achieving basically nothing are idiots.
its such a funny book
The penatient sons are gold
I am Alpharius
Be fair if i was a khorne berzerker and i hear even a fraction of i am alpharius i would immediately ascend into a daemon prince
The inquisitors being idiots was also funny
also the blackmailing was hilarious
Honestly smart, I'd have done the same thing
Yeah it was great
like I said the book has enough dose of seriousness while being very silly which is how most 40k books should be imo
some novels just take theirselves WAY too seriously
Average inqusitor’s day off setup
(the pistol is for him to blow his brains out with depression)
Yes that’s the joke
Shut up nerd
I think those are fun in their own way tbh
"you want it clean or dirty?"
"Clean"
"That was a trick question I don't have anything clean to get us out of this situation"
LOL
Lol
You wouldnt say that if I forced you read 8 Siege books
I did read them
Lowkey couple goals
I love how every book opens with
LORD DORN WE ARE GONNA LOSE
No.
Ok thanks lord Dorn.
♻️
Speaking of bad writing.... Do I read hand of abbadon
Eh
Well apparently it's got some lore relevance (that will probably go nowhere)
Honestly sea of souls
Just read Shaskais review
Imma produce a Clad take and say i enjoyed wolftime the most
Same
Wolf time and gate of bones just had moments where the dry comedy absolutely killed me
Like that primaris wolf leaping naked out of a gunship cause he got called a bad shot lives rent free in my head
I am still pissed at the custodian death at the hands or the mini knights (arbingers?) in Gate of Bones.
I call bullshit
Its a fucking big robot
Custodians arent invincible
we literally have examples of them being overwhelmed by worse things
I've literally seen more stodes die than ive seen get victories
You clearly havent been reading the right books
The 5 Minotaurs in question
The six dark angels
Nah we gotta wank custodes even more
also got repeatedly hit by a rocket to the chest

Yeah, but you cant hype him up as that badass only to kill him in a very short fight. At least let him kill one or two of the robots
I’m ngl that’s stupid
Unless their refractor shield ate it
thats just Dawn of Fire being a bad series
I skipped iron kingdom xF
On that we finally agree
Good decision
literally NOTHING happens in
go to rebellious system
system is indeed rebellious
kill nameless boring antagonist rebels orw hatever
woohoo we won
thats it lol
I read kingmaker instead
BASED
out of like 12
Basically a filler Episode
I won’t say that I didn’t enjoy
Some. Of the bad books
Because haha funny mindless bolter porn but like
Meh
Lowkey might relisten to watchers of the throne
Talking about bolter porn, i am almost done with oaths of damnation.
Love me some stodes
It’s like not totally mindless
Which is nice
I like how it flashes out the exorcists
Like i new that they were invisible to deamons before thx to yt lore vids but i didnt know how or at what fucking cost
Like dayum, that Initiation process, even compared to regular space marines sucks ass. I Imagine only the mortifactors/death spectres and the Grey Knights to be worse
THE PURGATOMB
The writing sounds a bit pompous but i guess thats just 40k.
Our of all the space Marine stuff ive read, ive only enjoyed Guy Haley. A bit of pomp and pathos, but also dry enough.
Worst was gav Thorpe, but that is a Thorpe problem. That guy could write a Phonebook and still would sound like the 14 year old who just discovered Shakespeare....
hes definitely a Guy, but a good one
what do you mean "but a good one"

Alright, oaths of damnation by Robbie MacNiven has been read to completion:
Pro's:
- nice lore dive into the exorcists. - Semi decent to decent world building for the chapter, definetly a "gateway-drug" If one wants to read further about the exorcists (If there is more to read, i havent checked) .
- decent writing style. Not as pretentious and vain and vapious as other space marine books.
- If youre tired of the lores standard space marines like ultramarines and the like, this is a very unique chapter in many many ways
Cons:
- characters are sometimes a bit one dimensional, which however is understandable given that they dont have much of a soul left that could be explored
- plot is a bit flat and unimaginative at times. If you dont like bolterporn and you dont care for the characters and the metaphysical struggle they are in, you might find this book bland/boring
I would rate it overall 7.5/10 and recommend it to those who like the occult and space marine side of 40k
Its ok to be sexist when it's to men I guess
????
thats a reach but ok I guess
"But a good one"
@slow pilot for your own good, irregardless of If youre right or wrong, do yourself a favour and never argue with the mods
- it will yield you nothing
- No one will care/you will change nothing
- and even if youre right you might get banned
Its ok to break the rules when you are a mod I guess
Has pronouns in the name so its probably a dude
I mean, youre on a private discord server. Youre a guest here. Their house, their rules. Is that fair. No. But that is how private Forums work.
- It can yield stuff.
- Why are you acting like the mods rule with an iron fist, they barely police people unless they overstep themselves, you know that right

I am not arguing with you. Last time i did you insulted me and then pulled the "i aint reading all that"- cop-out.
Blocked.
I didnt insult you though but okay, my guy is fighting phantoms 💀
My guy legit pulled the "Blocked."
Hate to see bookclub argue
Oh, nice seeing you clad. How are ya?
Its not the same without Eternal though
I do miss him
very tired
and his contrarian ways
He is sorely missed by a lot of people
had classes until 2 hours ago
(this is a lie but still)

🫡
And now supper/relax time?
Btw have you read oaths of damnation yet? I'll really recommend it.
Honestly he was fine in here aside from like uh
ye relaxing rn
arguing about HH being "peak" constantly
yeah that got annoying lol
him defending the Siege books was probably the worst part
also Abnett's entire dumb language usage 💀
Maybe we just cannot understand peak 😔

Nah it’s peak
my templar of ages.........
No.

hysb-iryt
lol
I love how people defend that shit with like
"you can just google it"
have you considered i wanna read a book
and not look up shit on synonym every 5 pages

Well, Fulgrim Perfect Son was okay. Andrew Spooner did a great job at narrating though
Yeah thats the consensus I hear too
the book is like
obviously written for commercial reasons with the model releases, it felt super empty to me somehow which sucks.
There's some genuinely good parts in there and the Black Templars come across as cool, too bad it's in an EC book and too bad Fulgrim barely shows up either
DUDE
THEY DID THE SAME SHIT WITH THE ANGRON NOVEL
Main character title
No chapters of his own
Barely does anything in his "own" book
fuck off

It's uh, a decision for sure
also the protagonist just being one of their chaos champion
like... it all matches
I hate it.
Tamaris' arc is at least pretty funny, it's very sunday morning cartoon villain all over
Yeah I laughed at it for the wrong reasons I think
I really feel like Jude was looking at the paper going "Yeah im cooking good."
Meanwhile im wondering how much is Tamaris gonna bitch about not being perfect or some shit again.
Yeah, well until things go to shit. That's only really when I got interested in him as a character, before then I'd just been wanting to go back to just about anything else
Jude can cook a little bit at times, then seperates it with oceans of okay
Yeah alas, always a dart throw with these authors most of the time.
At least we can take solace in a new Krieg book by Steve Lyons coming sometime
I feel like people forget that BL is a publisher of tie-in fiction first and foremost
They don't really give a shit if it's good or not, it's about churning stuff out
If something is good, that's a bonus, but I don't think they really give a shit as long as it sticks to the brief and is delivered on time
If they really cared about quality more then there wouldn't be so many cases of authors being told they can't talk about X (even though it's super relevant), or being kept out of the loop with regards to upcoming releases etc
Addendum:
If they really cared gav Thorpe wouldnt be allowed to write novels.
But yes, youre right.
sooooooooooooo
the emperor had to take a little break from the golden throne to ||fight samus|| but ||loken can just fight him no problem?||
dawg who is writing this
The guy whos writing it?
Hes the person beside you
Hes the person behind you
WATCH OUT, ABNETT IS HERE

why the fuck do people like him
his books arent good GW just gave him the best stories
hey nick imma need you to write a story about one salamander fucking around for 3 books
hey aaron imma need you to write a story about sangui fucking around in the void
oh also dan you need to write EVERYTHING ELSE
wrong
it's pointless he's not gonna listen to you
Even if you point a gun on his head he would rather jump off a cliff then stop reading 30K
30k is shit
At least the trailer was hype
I wonder if custodians see this and are like " yeah space marines are a mistake"
thats how custodes say good morning to eachother
Isnt there literally a discussion between valdor and dorn regarding that
Constantin Valdor (Legio Custodes) to Dorn #constantinvaldor #valdor #legiocustodes #emperorofmankind #warhammer40k #warhammer40000 #warhammer30k #warhammer30000 #horusheresy #horusheresy30k #warhammer40klore #spacemarines #britishvoiceover #britishvoiceactor #britishactor🇬🇧 #blacklibrary
Btw the ytber is an official voice actor. Did some work for black library. Havent heared any of it though, someone else needs to confirm wheter it is good or bad
Only Dan Abnett should be allowed to write 40k books.
😔
nah dannie has a lot of diehard fans
i have a friend thats been into warhammer for years ahead of me and hes a big danguy
i only hope i learn enough to fix him 🙏
its ok
no
you cant even read Legion
yes
i physically can not
read?
he doesn't read dilara he looks at the pretty pictures
Yes.
books 2 and 3 are the only ones i read read
dude the first two chapters are some of the worst writing ive ever seen
what specifically made it bad writing
it was so bad i couldnt even listen to it
it was a lot of incomprehensible yapping and bad usage of random non english words
are you a native english speaker?
no i speak american
ok imagine you're reading a book in english
and every other paragraph theres a random spanish word written there
dont listen to this faker
dies reading dune
but its americanized
ikr
"bashaws"
this guy needs to go to jail
no

Read Legion.

clad would hate blood meridian because people sometimes say single phrases in spanish
if it fits in the context im not opposed to it
but in legion it stuck out like a sore thumb
"AH YES THIS IS THE DESET PLANET"
"LETS GET SOME DESERT SLOP IN THERE"
like when white people say gracias in asian resturants
yeah but thats not that comparable
what the fuck
🙄
stop rolling your eyes
no
clad crop your pfp
literally the worst person
i will not crop my profile picture and i WILL NOT read legion
no
IM NOT WICKED IM NOT IM NOT
this is you
I WONT DO IT YOU CANT MAKE ME
im litearlly her/him
ill never be him as dilara claimed
you are neither him or Him
this actually triggering tbh
i had so much of those little fish they sell on the streets in istanbul i puked
i couldnt eat sardines for a long time
Good. Thats the intended effect.
dilara is pissed because you're the only person in this server who reads the 40k books consistently and who forms opinions on them
and you're also the worst
we literally agree on like 80% of everything else
did you like the salamander books
mainly vulkan lives
the rest were not that great even if i liked salamanders
deathfire was painful but i feel like the writer wanted us to feel as shitty as numeon did
i actually think it was written not as a book but more as "this is how he felt"
you know you can start out small with audio dramas....
Well, just finished reading the chat of the last 9 hours.
That was entertaining.
🍿
He’s the 3000 pages in front of you
Is oath of damnation the exorcists book any good or is it just more bolter porn
I just finished it two days ago.
I liked it. I would say it is bolter porn + light 40k mysticism/daemonology/decent world building for the exorcist chapter.
This was my original review two days ago:
Alright, oaths of damnation by Robbie MacNiven has been read to completion:
Pro's:
- nice lore dive into the exorcists. - Semi decent to decent world building for the chapter, definetly a "gateway-drug" If one wants to read further about the exorcists (If there is more to read, i havent checked) .

- plot is a bit flat and unimaginative at times. If you dont like bolterporn and you dont care for the characters and the metaphysical struggle they are in, you might find this book bland/boring
Guess I'll give it a read after I finish rereading watchers of the throne
Based reread
Love me some stodes
Havent read that one. The question is, If Games Workshop will send out a Copy via the shop. Because id rather not read it as an eBook, and i will not pay crazy aftermarket prices
Btw which one was the book where ten darkangels threw hands with a custodes? Does anyone have an excerpt of that fight scene?
Never mind. Reddit had the answers. ||So basically its "custodes kills 6 of them in usual combat until the DA Librarian (barely) holds him with the powers of the warp for long enough that the remaining ones can shoot him apart with missiles and bolterfire.||
||the entire exchange takes like a minute or two from start to finish, which just shows you how lethal and fast both parties involved are.||
Them killing that custodian is one of the funniest parts of the book
The entire plot feels like a fever dream tbh.
Isnt that the Watchers of the Throne book
no wait what was it uhhh
Cypher whoops
Yeah Lord of the Fallen.
Its pretty short and I "enjoyed" reading it I wanna say but in an ironic kind of way.
Cypher is also such a funny edgelord protagonist.
I love reading his POV in stuff and also the silly twist at the end he does to the Librarian.
Its not the best payoff but I agree on the goofy bits lol
The entire novel also kinda accomplishes nothing aside from confirming he jumps off of Terra so thats alright I guess.
Well he needs a reason to wander the galaxy somehow
I do remember the buildup to it though and how that dumbass Valrak made it seem like "DARK ANGELS ATTACK THE IMPERIAL PALACE".
Ye I love the entire infiltration plan into the palace itself its very Mission Impossible, also the whole uh
Dark angels; undercover
Still wear green armor even with no markings
guh
the Average Valrak brain activity

Yeah, ive added both "Watchers of the throne" and "Cypher - Lord of the Fallen" to my booklist. I need to visit my local Warhammer Store, hit up the terminal and see If Nottingham has those in english in stock and If they will deliver it to Germany (i have obtained the night lords trillogy, Ahriman trillogy and a few of the dawn of fire series books that way in english despite living in Germany).
My interest in valrak usually ends at his tone of voice already. Nvm the content.
That accent is just unbearable to my audio receptors
THIS IS SOOOOO EXCITING GUYS
TODAY WE ARE JUST ABOUT TO LEARN*
Bro shut up 😩
actual Star Wars youtuber tier shit
he gives orks a run for their money in ruckus when he's excited about something
Honestly if a farmer milked a cow the way valrak milks the lore he would be charged with animal abuse. Ive never seen so many nothing-burger-lorevideos in my life ever across any lore channel, and that includes the Stupendous Wave Channel.
Wolf Lord rho is just as bad though. 💀
Titles promise so much while delivering so little

Honestly, the only lore Youtuber i still consistently watch for 40k is majorkill, and that just for the entertainment and the edgy jokes, not for the lore which is very superficial and milk-toastesque
Damn, I hated him casually blasting the assassin of god tier rank. Just cause his pistols never miss. At least it should have been a low rank assassin.
In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only one armor no bullet can ever pierce....
Plotarmor
Pretty much 😔
Loved cypher Lord of the fallen, because it got me thinking about the emperor and the consequences of his vigil
Also the other custodes talking about "yeah none of us could ever go against the principle so why didn't he kill cypher"
To be fair, you could have read a single paragraph on lexikanum for that 😜
I like listening to the books tho
I've submerged myself in enough 40k lore from YouTube and such that I don't even care to watch videos any more id much rather read the books myself
Lowkey though a few times about just making my own YouTube channel to talk lore. At least I'd be pulling directly from the source unlike a lot of loretubers who just grab from the lex
As a matter of fact i would watch the shit out of a Youtuber who'd just cite the specific passages out of their books directly. There are a few of that but not to the scale and topics id like such as: "today i am gonna read you all passages out of the lore that showcase space marines losing to humans".
My favorite moment of that is in the second dark imperium book where a bunch of guardsman jump a plague marine in there trench and manage to kill him but his corpse lands on one of there buddies who they have to rescue
Its a very empty book but still funny imo.
I took nothing in it really seriously so i think it helped my reading experience
"Ah yes a faulty door hinge made at mars and placed in the exact specific cell i was put in the imperial dungeons let me escape"
like that is peak goofy comic book shit I love lol
Cypher "I'm always ten steps ahead" Fallen
I love that too
the ultimate twist is how the entire book was him recounting his memories to the Librarian which gives him brain damage
legit made me laugh
That actually caught me so offguard
Made me think "how the hell you know what the warden was doing" xD
Tbf cypher was probably talking out his ass
Yeah, can't wait for him to never meet the lion
Because gw can never give me anything nice
Given how utterly humorless the lion still is he would probably just thank Cypher for his service and then either leave him be or give him the nemiel treatment
If they ever were to meet
Cypher would insist he gets to keep the sword
Given that they lion has a new one he probably wouldnt care
Big E just had one conveniently laying about in warp storage lol
I think the watchers put that there
The Watchers freak me the fuck out. Whenever i read of them i find myself thinking "what the hell are you and are you killable"?
They are our allies as far as I can tell
For now 👀
Daemons are terrified of them so that's all I need to know to protect our little jawas
That one sequence where the most annoying deamon of tzeench encounters one and is like "nope, above my paygrade, time to dip without grace or humor" was quite something to read
anyone know where the chaos gods have "mock" battles with horus before giving him power?
Where as in which book?
yee
Vengeful Spirit
literally took a 5 second google search
my bad ill never say anything ever again ||that was a lie||
Youre half way there understanding the Alpha Legion. If only you would read one of their most important books... I cant quite recall the name.... Cohort? Manipel? Centuria? Contubernium? Cant quite put my finger on it... 🤔
I have half a mind to believe you have adhd....
never read legion
||Fischig has left the party
||
stolen

They got official watcher plushies
I want one
Where would you even get one? Official gw Shop?
Just search online for them and they'll instantly show up
Around 15-19€ depending on the vendor. Not too bad for a plush
They look affordable to me. Why dont you buy yourself one?
i ignore everything alpha legion
The Sky is blue, birds are chirping. Water is wet. And Clad remains uneducated in the ways of the most annoying space marine legion of all
I mean, Realtalk, in my humble opinion, overall, the novel isnt bad but it isnt great either. However, it is pretty convoluted sometimes. I just skimmed over the Paragraphs i found to obnoxious to dilligently read
Brother I have $1.68 to my name
there are any good drukhari lore books exept path of the dark eldar??
Well, i am sorry to hear that.
I wish you best of luck in the work market and many prosperous years
Codexes, I hear they're good in Lukas the Trickster as well
^
Lukas the Trickster is not a Dark Eldar book at its core since its Space Wolf oriented but the dark eldar are very good in it and arent there just to get their asses kicked.
The novel also takes care not to humiliate either side, its very fun for both faction enjoyers
What's rarer than a unicorn
A warhammer book where both factions are shown to be competent
God damn it i hate how you have to remind me of how true it is
Dead chat. @safe plover , we need some commotion, please say something so half the people in here lose it again. Thx
I FUCKING HATE KUBERNETES AND GO WHY THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ANYTHING
ALSO FUCK PROMETHUS
I still gotta read that Necromunda Ogryn short story
I now imagine Clad, who can't pay attention to two pages of text or recall any of the stories, navigate k8s 😂 Must be hell on earth for you.
you dont get it. im going crazy they gave us a lab using them before actually teaching us those subjects now i have to fucking write a lab report on why i had to update GO to v1.22 and why autoscallerV2beta2 doesnt work
At least you get a decent impression of what the work is like.
hours of asking chatgpt what this error means and editing the same config file with every single api version before redoing the same job?
Pretty much, unless you read documentation 😛
Currently reading the martyrs tomb. Few Pages in, lotsa bolterporn, not a whole lot of story. Is the entire book that way?
Roger. I'll brace myself. I just wanna finish the series. Being the completionist i am
God speed 🫡
Its very much just a bolterporn templar/sister book that also just doesnt really do much with the given narrative.
Thx. I can live with bolterporn. Not every book needs to be a deep and intriguing piece of world literature. Sometimes, greasy gas station pizza+ uludag does the job. I guess this is just a Michel bay-esque book.
Yeah its not the worst so you'll live.
Wolftime is probably the most bad Dawn of Fire novel id say anyone to skip so lol
Clad take, i actually liked wolf time the most. Not because it was good, but the wolves stubbornness and the plot, If you can call it that was funny as fuck . Oh, and gaius sub story was ok i guess. Still funny that a Primaris with an ultramarine name becomes a badass space wolf lol
At least you admit it with the clad-take, ill take what I can get 😩
Please Dawn of fire
I never said it was good. I just liked it the most. Sometimes i could just die for some trash fast food
I think the general issue is just
why are we not covering anything happening regarding the fucking era we are in instead of some dumbass slop planet plot.
no overarching plot except book series
only side quests that we're supposed to care about
dawg why am i catching strays
your tastes are TRASH
we litearlly agree on everything aside from vulkan lives and legion
oh and battle of the abyss being (readable instead of trash)
night lord trilogy worth?
YES
I have read quite a few space marine trillogies. The double one from ventris. The blood angel one, the dark Empire omnibus. The first of two Ahriman trillogies. And the night lords. The night lords definetly take my top spot in those books. (And i am an matt wardt level Ultramarine fanboy)
What the night lord trillogy does really well is making the night haunter legion utmost approchable, which is difficult fir space marines, let alone chaos, never mind the deranged 8th.
^ Absolutely worth it yeah.
its a trilogy that ironically transcends the faction its advertising sometimes
i like the series too. it makes you understand the NL without making you too sympathetic for them which is how CSM should be written.
meanwhile angron's story tries to depict him as a misunderstood sad boy who you should be crying over
Its one of the biggest things i hate with the World Eaters as awhole, same with their fanbase.
Ive only ever been able to laugh at angron.
All he wanted was to die and join his fallen Gladiator Brothers/Sisters.
The big E could have easily solved this. Let him die gloriously in battle, yoink the soul from the warp, stuff it back in an undefiled body, sent him with his legion to execute the Highriders.
Done.
But here i go again yapping and lamenting over a done deal 🫠🙃
Finished The Reverie the other day, I enjoyed it quite a lot, but I feel I might have gotten more out of it if I had gone through other Dark Coil books prior to it. I'll probably re-listen it later, not only because of the things I might've missed from other books but I feel the book has still more to give on a repeat. I just wish the narrator weren't John Banks, I don't think he fit really well to the atmosphere the book is going for.
Requiem Infernal will be next on my list because it's the last one they've released as an audio book, really hoping the rest of the series will come on audio sooner rather than later
angron is the only fuck up that couldnt conquer his homeplanet he doesnt get to make requests
Off topic, small little detail, but i like the fact that the black templar Dreadnought in "martyrs tomb" uses a special dreadnaught sized sword, made specifically at his VEHEMENT request to the tech priests/tech marines of his chapter fleet.
That thing is as tall as a space marine in armor...
peak
It's usually a good idea to revisit a Dark Coil novel/short story once you have read others from the same universe. Thanks to all the ties and patterns Peter Fehervari put into them, a second read is usually quite interesting, as you uncover new meanings you weren't aware of on the first reading.
As the short stories coming on Audiobook, I don't know if it's done a lot.
Anthologies sometimes do, was hoping the two planned for the Dark Coil would as well, but we'll see
And it isn't too rare for a standalone short story to get one too
Ok, I didn't know that, that's good news for the Dark Coil then, as the short stories make it even richer.
Should I read fabius bile, eisenhorn, or night lords first?
(ive already read nearly the entire horus heresy)
Imo night lords, i really liked those
Eisenhorn.
Bile or Night Lords

No bad choice out of that selection
I like Eisenhorn but its one of the most overrated series' ever imo.
to the point that i kinda get tired of seeing it everywhere

ı guess.
Eisenhorn.
When does the infinite and the divine gets better? I'm halfway and it's not bad but it's clearly not as hyped as people make it to be
Trazyn and Orikan ||just got sentenced to work together|| is where i'm at
I think its just not for you.
😔
It's a good book. It's just not THE book that was hyped to me. I'll finish it before giving my final impression
But I don't consider it a waste of my time so that's good
Yeah the public extremely hyped it up because a few years ago it was like "Oh hey trazyn book that might be neat."
its still a very fun book i think but i was one of those people were seeing it extremely blow up kinda made me do a double-take
I have been bamboozled by the 40k memes again
Orikan is a cuntier cunt than Trazyn its true
I love the necrons dynamics
We don't have enough
I've just read the twice dead king beforehand and it was nice
Indomitus is offensive
i just read chapter 6 of warhawk and was wondering if Sigismund was given the blade and does that now make him an Emperor's champion
Thats literally the symbolism of it yes.
Hes the first Emperor's Pogchamp
That's what i was thinking when it happened
i wonder what the blade is made out of
and how many they have
As many as the plot needs.
LOL
how many champs are there
As many as the plot demands.
Black Templars operate in unnumbered amount of Crusade Fleets for homebrew reasons, they are way beyond a normal Chapter size but its not really known how many there are in total, most usually have at least 1 Champion.
is sigismund alive in 40k still
Sigismund was the Marshal of the Templars, the First Captain of the Imperial Fists Legion during the Great Crusade, and right-hand man to Primarch Rogal Dorn. During the Horus Heresy, Dorn appointed Sigismund the first Emperor's Champion, to defend the Imperial Palace during the Battle of Terra. After the Heresy, Sigismund became the founder and...
He gets killed by Abaddon in the first Black Crusade.
NOOOOOOOOOOOO
i keep reading and see that kharn is still alive 😌
: )
Can confirm Joe Abercrombie has cooked good with The Devils
the orignal one idfk the rest are just very fancy power swords
Obsure old lore, the Crimson fists used to have an emperors Champion too. However, this wasnt picked upon in forever in the lore.
I personally listened to the audio book, and found it the most enjoyable in the 2nd half
oof
I had the exact same feeling when I read it. Still a good book, just overhyped.
Richard Reed's narration does elevate it even further, he does such a great job voicing the characters
It's mostly the first half is repetitive. The second half seems to pick up a bit. I'll share my final thoughts once i'm done reading the whole book
Do we know when the grotsnik book is out?
Nope.
I've heard 3rd of July a few times but Idk
l-last book in....
also why is no one mentioning starchild more malcador outright says that ||the emperor's humanity after he split it from himself will grow||
i feel like warhammer end game is gonna be the emperor ||getting killed by dorn to finally resurect then he tries to remerge with the other parts of himself||
They did when the novel came out
you are like 2 years late
This isnt a spoiler

theres plenty of people who come here starting the series
u cant gatekeep spoilers not my fault you cant click
erm teknikally thats not tru

this guy is actually going to read the end and the death
the sheer commitment to slop
Any major difference(s) between Gaunt's Ghosts The Founding Anthology 2008 ed vs 2017 ed?
2008: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/19680506-the-founding
2017: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/34466786-the-founding
Afaik only the cover art, no differences within the text
page count is different 🤔
Don't know really, I've only owned two physical BL books
and those were different sizes
when were those books released?
i think the standardization is recent-ish
like all the HH books i see online seem like theyre the same size
well the Founding Anthologies in question were released in 2008 and 2017
so the original one may as well be non standard, if even the 2017 is
yeah i have no idea i was talking out of my ass
there are 18 editions of that omnibus in total, all have different page counts
some are translations
welp
we did it reddit
now time to start again and make a list of slop/readable/gold according to my own personal view
If repetition is so annoying to you, learning languages in school must have been the "end and the death" of you....
nah i dont mind repetition i just have to figure out a way to keep notes on the books i listen to
Thats gonna get the black templar Codex astartes treatment by most of this Server man 🤣
This chat won't be the same when Clad actually finishes hate reading the Heresy books
Dilara is still gonna tear him apart for his takes whenever she can
yer forgettin 'me zog head
Yes, but with you at their helm. Given that, at least from my subjective observation, that of all people ripping into him, you have done so the most and severest 🤣🤣
Oooops
Can't wait to start reading the books and have horrendous takes
The chat is gonna love you for it.
Just read anything Nick kyme/gav Thorpe and say that you loved it and that it was good and see the chaos erupt...
Take a look at the pin we got, if you dont like anything on there just ask for recommendations and we can prob provide some good ones
Gotta watch some lore videos and pick a certain aspect or faction to obsess over first lol
What else you gonna do in lockdown but start talking to a camera? I make videos about WARHAMMER - mostly easy to access videos that introduce the lore of the universe to new players, or delve into little-known corners for the veterans. Modelling tips, deep dives into the 40k background and (hopefully) interesting looks at how things got that way...
Id recommend some Arbitrator Ian if you want concise and simple explanations
Ive heared Legion wasnt too bad....
i finished everything except legion and the raven guard anthology
Jeez

Lol, ive barely made it to halfway of fallen Angels as of yet, having read every single book before that
But i will finish the entire series eventually
And i actually had the grit to finish Legion (it wasnt that bad)
Dear God emperor, nothing pisses me off more than ai voiced lore channels of any kind, 40k lore included. If you do need to fuck up my dopamine receptors with your 60sec lore slop, at least have the decency to lend that steaming pile of mediocrity your own fucking voice.....
$20 says Clad actually finished Legion ages ago and this is a bit
Considering his past messages and how he cant even read rulebooks + his outbursts over Abnett's writing I very much doubt it.
any other 40k audiobooks in a style similar to "watcher in the rain"?
You expect only read the copy paste only guys and no checking of it's true or not wiki clad
To have read legion?
Magnuuuuuuuuuuuus!!!!!😡🔥💥

Theres a few audiobooks but you kinda need to choose yourself.
is this real?!?!?!?!?!
you owe everyone here 20bucks
No you are hallucinating again.
That's why they don't, it is slop, they don't wanna be associated with it

listened to the last church
my god the emperor is such <words i am not allowed to say here>
"there are no god :3 lemme just heal you and your church real quick"
I wish I was cool as this cat
It was a lot of ends and deaths for sure.
riveting material
mY kInG oF aGEs
Two weeks, pretty interested in this one
Haven't really read any AoS books prior
maybe one or two
so out of all the AOS books that's gonna interest you the literal cannibal king is the one that won you over?
you know what i respect that
Oh yeah he is goated
I love Ushoran and his emotional support blanket made out of people
So aos books any good I'm just listening to G&F rn
Aight, martyrs tomb conquered
Decent bolterporn. Would love to say more, but there isnt.
Lots of death. Lots of sacrifice. Lots of pompous words.
The Imperium has found another semi-reliable way into imperium nihilus. Maybe. A custodes died.
Overall, c-. Readable slop for those of us who enjoy mindless Michael Bay-esque bolterporn. If youre looking for deep characters, flawless worldbuilding and a keen narrative that pushes the plot of the 40k universe in a logical and coherent way, dont read this book.
Anyway, its 2:30 am. I am going to bed. Bye
It's just like 40K
You get yourself some of the good ones you have with that
but there are those that are outright bad
and just like 40K it depends
there's only so much action can do to someone before it loses appeal
I remember reading the first few horus heresy books and been far more invested in the remberancers
Funny thing is I remember listening to the dark imperium trilogy and thinking it was ok then listening to warboss and loving it
Son of the forest and dark imperium are just kinda bad books in my mind
Any aos books that are like kingmaker esinhorn GG or nightlords trilogy?
hmm hold on, Aos since it's not the most popular doesn't really have heavy hitting character books
you only have that with their gotrek books
I'm currently finishing off GF city of the dammed and after that the rest of the GF books then I was thinking of trying the gotrek books
They good or do they need felix to carry it
thing is AOS is a continuation of his story from warhammer fantasy
so you kind of need to have read those to understand what the fuck he's doing
Ah OK I know no spoilers for GF yet so all I know is he's alive after the world blew up because God said he was a good boy and to get killing
But idk how much of that's true
if you're gonna get started in aos i suggest this
it's a collection of multiple stories
Thanks
And for something less human
the main characters in here are dwarves
or well Duardin
GW1needed to find a way to copyright it you see
If you’re gonna read aos books read the only two worth your time: Dark Harvest, Blood of the Everchosen
You're leaving out a lot of good books smh
Godeaters son
Ok haven’t read but it looks promising. Blood of the Everchosen is good because it’s about chaos mortals.
oh you're clad but aos
Thats a serious accusation right there lol 🙈🤣🤣
Aka Clad but right

I used to think Strachan was the savior of AoS lit but he kind of fell off with the witch hunter books
Great raw material just weak characterization
I think maybe subconsciously I just have higher standards for fantasy books bc you know
There are a lot of good ones what with Tolkien and all haha
still aos has a lot of good books besides the ones you mentioned it's just like 40k
The writing has the accuracy of a shoota
Sometimes it hits sometimes it doesn't
Perks of a war game setting
Aos hitting on a 6+ and rerolls successful dice (Josh Reynolds’s resignation)
So is 40k
I don't really think wolf time is the pinnacle of writing
it's wolf time
Damn straight
damn i was gonna read legion real quick but i dont want it to become outdated
You'd mix up Legion with a cookbook
Won't read Legion yet he speedran through the end and the death 🤔
Clads motives are beyond our understanding
Prove it
ughhhhhhhh
While listening to hand of abbadon I'm listening to infinite and the divine every few chapters
All to keep myself sane
is there any books that I could read for anything that is related with dark age of technology and cybernetic revolt?
I always enjoyed dabbling in WHF, never got the chance to do any AoS stuff though
yeah whatever type of chaos magic you pulled from the void to make Valkia so Goated was certainly amazing
reading a little warhawk and wonder if i get to see mortarion vs jaghtai
Fades to black just as they’re running at each other
They kiss
you got any White Scars dreadnought art
oh nice, I had just finished the two Void Shark novels
The Carcharodons are insular even for Astartes, spending their time hunting the enemies of humankind at the dark edges of the galaxy. When Chaos forces led by Datagnost Voldire, a dread disciple of Vashtorr the Arkifane, attacks the forge world of Daiamantus, Bail Sharr and the Carcharodons’ Third Company must come in from the cold and take up arms with the Adeptus Mechancius to drive back the heretics.
Neat
these are re releases right
Or only some of them
the first few are, the rest are new
oh The Silent King is the final novel in the Dawn of Fire series
damn
these are new ?
so the cawl and wolf ones are the re release
yes
hmm Void exile i might read
