its just dan abnett giving himself self inserts
"y-yeah if i was in warhammer i'd be useful!!!!"
no you'd be dead or a servitor like everyone bro
Hey at least it gives him
This coming from a guy that has the emotional range of again a brick is nice
The Remembrancers are more to start the lame "the emperor is a god?" argument sub-plot across the rest of the Siege books its not a self-insert.
The pain glove isn't really relevant and what gives you the impression Dorn would just let him jump or would be impassive about it
🚬 so why are the B,C, D characters doing it instead of keeler?
B-
Because they are literally setup as an Order
💀
an Order means multiple people
i just dont think he would even leave the startigium
doesn't he even explain the reasoning for it
it helps him think
Yeah what I said.
He's in the bhab bastion for like
an entire week?
even his brain gets overloaded after thousands of hours
But Dilara he's a primarch he should be impervious to such things.....
imma be real i lost focus after the i dont give a shit
LMAO
oh
I dont blame you tbh that scene is legit bad
of course
silent sister monologue was nice tho
once again your complaints are proven moot
😡
oh my god i found the meme
191 likes, 12 comments. “Totally Accurate Warhammer Lore Guilliman The Ship Pooper”
i dont think dorn would ever leave
Oh my god
HE SAYS HE NEEDS A FUCKING 10 MINUTE BREAK
HES IN THE BHAB BASTION FOR THOUSANDS OF HOURS

THATS BASICALLY ALREADY NOT LEAVING
hes a primarch sweaty
die
he doesnt need to do anything
Hes still human to some degree
he needs to shove his Imperial Fist up your ass
👊
cmere
im good thanks
too late
ill jump off
open up
LMAO
Jokes aside this is also coming from me btw, a literal Imperial Fist/Dorn hater
i think hes boring as fuck but i still get why he does the stuff he does in this book
he even explicitly says that if he has a break it'll help him immensely for the upcoming hours instead of just sitting there hyperfocusing on the same stuff without breaks
bro had a smoke on a balcony 💀
Slenderman attempting to kill himself is funny af though
this is like THE most "calm" part of the Siege
relatable
same
I like that perturabo can admit that only dorn use to beat him in games they would play and that he learned the taking some time to think strategy from him.
Yeah that was a part i also really liked
Here's a head scratcher. Did Perturabo manipulate Abbadon into believing he saw flaw in Saturnine wall
Im pretty sure that was actually outright said in the novel with Abaddon realising that was the case and getting mad at Perty saying hes gonna kill him for it lol

I feel like Abbadon saying it helped make it make sense
Perty isn't gonna miss anything
He calls Perty "The Lord of Iron? MORE LIKE THE LORD OF SHIT."
peak writing.
@dusk dome
Basically Kargos spends the entire book trying to hunt down and kill Amit
becaues they had some history together or whatever
and its just a normal MCU scene where they just fight and Amit kills him
Its kinda funny because Kargos expects this to be like an Metal Gear bossfight scene
where they are gonna share ideals, argue THEN fight
but Amit doesnt care lol
I’m reading the last line here
And I’m like
Is this a romance all of a sudden?
Its very goofy but like its classic marine/marine stuff
it doesnt really go anywhere so dont think too much about it
Kargos is just another generic world eater
amit my oomfie 🫡
Fair enough I spouse
Yeah its just Good Guy vs Bad Guy shit nothing biggy
I hope they show off some cool world eater stuff tonight, I need more to work with

That’s actually just given me a hell of an idea
Thank you Dilara
🫡
"Nassir Amit"
are we sure he wasnt supposed to be a thousand son?
or horus the little boy with daddy issues
A real Sigismund/Rogal Dorn moment.
"The time for speeches is done. They are comming. Kill them all". #do what you do best, Siggi. HURT THEM. Still one of the hardest lines in the HH. Kharns duel against Siggi is in the same veine as Amit vs Kargos
Too much anger
How does that old addage go? "Youll never find something gayer than a room of unsupervised straight men". This seems to be amplified by factor 10 for space marines.... 🙃😅
Finished Nemesis the other day. Been a while since I listened to a Heresy book and really enjoyed it. Although I do not regret skipping it the first time around given how it really has nothing to do with anything in the rest of the series, but I liked learning about the assassination attempt after the fact
Enjoyable characters albeit some of the actions felt a bit odd for members of such a highly indoctrinated organization and being the top of the line operatives for their representative glades
Spear was also very neat
Bruh I laughed my ass off when I got to this part.
Really bizarre seeing the very calculated and serious Amit in EoE to this version where he just tells everyone to eat shit.
its really goofy
i hate it when they just make characters constantly say "shit" in these books lol
So fucking funny hearing Keeble tell someone to eat shit thirty times in a span of ten minutes.
His opponent could be saying some deeply poetic stuff about the universe and he'll just tell them to eat a bag of dicks.
10/10 writing.
YES LMFAO
the word shit is said 65 times in the book i think
"I need to read something a little different, what about that horror book from Peter Ferhavari I picked up a while ago"
15 minutes in: "This is a space marine book isn't it?"
30 minutes in: "Fuck"
That image is actually hilarious, but in the context of the book it's fine
you tend to hate the most mundane things yes
🙄 yes primarchs shouldnt do mundane things
primarchs have better catalepsean nodes they dont need to sleep
they gotta be relatable to the audience
remember these are basically marketed towards people in their 20's or so lol
no they dont!!!
being relatable doesn't mean they're supposed to be self inserts cmon now
who actually can not only fly with his wings but also with his super brain power that isnt even discussed in the books
on a side note, about half way through the Red Tithe. Has been very enjoyable so far
The young arbitrator wanting to prove herself forcing herself to a mission only it to become the most harrowing thing any of them has encountered was very fun
It's about the Space Sharks
i think theyre cringe
they're fine in this books at least
any bullshit psyker shark powers?
No, but a lot of sea and slightly shark adjacent names for things
ok thats fine then
i mostly dislike the bullshit with summoning warp jaws to eat people
also the main bad in the book are Night Lords which is always a blast
like a night lords warband or what?
yes
arent they all mostly corrupted? why do they care about keeping prisoners?
oh nvm i misread the wiki entry
The wiki probably spoils the book so wouldn't read that too far
they just have the cover description
But anyways, both sides are basically trying to out hunt each others' and it's very fun to listen through, both sides being similar in doctrine but with different practices/tactics
both sides are also in the locale for the same reasons
The best part with the Shark books is that the shit you are reading now actually carries over to the next books lol
which is like very rare for non-series warhammer novels

I figured the two are pretty close in story but hadn't looked it up
I can guess how but don't want to know
just yet
:)))
both seeking a single young inmate with unnatural talents, the corridors run red, and both factions will have to fight tooth and claw to leave Zartak alive.
Almost like this is a premise and you gotta read the book to find out!!!

the premise did kinda make me think The Predator
||"oh no it's the boy-autismo again"||
man Silent Hunters is so fucking bad
lmao
I really hope that author gets fired or something, his novels so far have all been dreadful
Oh I didn't know that that book had that trope going for it too
I thought about the movie The Predator
I've not read any Carcharodon books prior this one
like, he basically has autism and can see "warp doors" or some shit as his mom helps him along with the space sharks to commorragh
would've been wild then to have TWO space shark books with that trope lmao
and then they go to commorragh for some mcguffin, ||5 marines take on like an entire dark eldar kabal of hundreds of gooners and somehow kill them all, they fight lelith hesperax, almost half the cast dies because lol, then at the end of the book i forgot but the mcguffin was a ruse or some shit and the sharks kill themselves over it and wow another 40k book where the mcguffin was nothing and everyone gets gooned, tell me something original.||

It also has egregious shit like how apparently you can avoid being eaten by Slaanesh as an Eldar if you are a crackhead/imbued with a ton of psychedelic drugs so she spits you out???

such is life in the grim darkness of the far future
Lelith confronts the mom right
and fucking says:
"I dont like breeders."

man its... a book, i have not met a single person that liked it, deffo just stick to these
lmao
fair though
Its legit terrible, when you finish these id HIGHLY suggest reading a summary of it by shaskais
its very funny for that alone imo
it doesnt really have the cool "Asshole Psychos on an adventure" like these novels do
The god of sex, drugs and rock n roll spitting you back out because you're too hardcore

😭
Almost done with it coincidentally. Not really a fan of how the audiobook is formatted but it's a solid book overall, also love my bat bois so it's nice to see them just be completely evil for the fun of it.
What do you mean by how it's formatted? As in the little snippets from the inquisitor in the middle of chapters or?
I've really really liked the narrator though, first I've heard of him
Idk I found it a little confusing to follow? Like usually the audiobooks will tell you when a new chapter is happening or have a nice pause in-between a POV change.
Felt like the longer it went on I was kind of getting confused if I was following the Carcharodons or NL since it's shifting between the both of them pretty frequently.
It doesn't take away my enjoyment from the book tho.
Fair, I got lost when the first POV change happened but I've kept track pretty well after it
I had kinda hoped there was going to be more background info about the Carcharodons as well.
Like I know very little about them and the book didn't really elaborate very much about them outside of oh they're like loyalist NLs but are instead shark bois and super quiet when they kill.
Idk if more is elaborated on in the next book. Overall a pretty entertaining book.
The setting and atmosphere is hella cool too.
there has been lots of new tidbits for me already but I can see wanting more
They seem to have the whole blood rage thing going similar to the BA and some of the intimidation factor with the NL. I think they're canonically a Raven Guard successor chapter right?
Didn't really get that impression besides maybe the black eyes and being a little sneaky.
I don't know which chapter they originate from at the top of my head but I just interpreted the 'blindness' as a nod to the way real sharks cover their eyes when they attack their prey, thus being blind at the moment of impact
They are basically Raven Guard successors in all but name yeah its just never said outright but theres like dozens of hints post-Imperial Armor/Badab
they're the successors of the fish marines (double meaning), the 2nd lost legion
uaaghghgh
They might not even be RG succesors but descendents of original RG sent off to die by Corvus
That essentially also technically makes them Successors so

but yeah its just a case of "we arent saying it but yes they are"
its very on the nose with it in some material
It is 2% more interesting though
Exile bros stay suffering ✊😔
time to run these heretics ashore and atone for our forgotten sins
walk the plank with ye
get devoured by the great white

they should go harder with the sea themes
Thought as much. That's so Blood Ravens core
THEY LITERALLY SUMMON PSYCHIC SHARKS TO EAT PEOPLE
This is such a platitude, every space marine chapter is gay
uh, spoilers
uaaaghhh
the shark themed chapter does shark themed stuff
who woulda thunk
you whiny ass

I'm gonna summon a psychic whinger to whinge at your ear for the rest of times
🦻 🔇
You're just angry they stole Chapter Master of the Fish Marines Big Chungus' left pauldron in that one book.

the psychic whinge goes straight to your mind
guh
i liked the mcniven carcharodons books they were some of the first ones i read
so it was like a big poggers moment the whole time
oh i didnt read Death Warrant
yeah. cause theyre expensive for what they are!
Yeah, it's the reaping time
im gonna reapppppp!!

I can use those eight bucks to buy cheese sticks. You're asking a lot here
this is so cringe
like if they just kept it to them hunting in the deep void of space id be more intrested tbh
To be fair, something similar happens in Fury of Magnus with a Space Wolves librarian and a Salamander.
The whole summoning psychic Digimon is a common enough occurrence in the setting (even if it is pretty dumb).
It’s about as dumb as someone being a giant red cyclops wizard
Imagine having one eye. What a dork.
No wonder he and Russ could never see eye to eyes.
Theres nothing wrong with some things in warhammer being dumber than other stuff, there doesnt need to be some balance that needs to exist.
Also agreed it was legit so goofy, what redeemed it for me was the ||Sally cutting the wolf's hand off since he didnt wanna let go like its some Overwatch ult to kill Magnus
||
lmfao god
And yet a giant red cyclops wizard who leads a legion of wizards attacking his dads basement through a door to space hell is about as “dumb” as worlds spirits.
And yet my point stands, some things are dumber than others
Ok, doesn’t apply here
I’m not saying stuff just to say it, they’re both pretty dumb if you break them down
They both also equally work within the rules of the universe
I mean yeah but again, they are proportions to these things lol
Like i dont really get why disliking a goofy magic thing is suppose to be a bad thing.
Yes and their proportions are about equally silly
Ehhh depends on the person tbh.
You deem it about as equally bad but if i asked someone else they would disagree.
I never said you’re not allowed to dislikes a goofy magic thing
I said it’s about as dumb as Magnus’s whole deal, magic stuff always gets wacky especially at the higher levels
My enjoyment of it varies but the scene worked for what it was despite how silly it was
Similar to the climax of the Ahriman trilogy
Whereas stuff like Mephistons stuff, or a lot of Khayon stuff I tend to think is just dumb.
Okay but again, it depends from person to person like I also said. I dont really see why this point needs to be defended so vehemently, people can find something more goofy than the other, a setting like 40k having comedically silly elements doesnt take away from the fact that it very much also tries to be serious at the same time when writing scenes in novels like this, people clown on them for that reason.
Like going by your example I can just say Mephiston doing a "za warudo" is not goofy because the setting has matching tone-wise things to it lol
I’m not defending it vehemently, I said they’re both about as silly and the other guy agreed. People are free to agree or not, it’s all opinions
Psyker stuff working or not largely is just if the writing is compelling, I always bring up that a lot of my favorite books have some of the dumbest shit ever
But it’s well done so it works
The College Immaterium is a complete left field asspull but it’s well done and it’s fun so I don’t care, plus the book has other wacky stuff and it’s setup well.
Same with a lot of Eisenhorn stuff tbh
Honestly I think we need more Yu-Gi-Oh duels
I mean this goes back to the first point "I dont care" ,cool but some people do. This isnt that deep of an argument, so like at the end of the day your opinion on it doesnt stop it from being a very semi-comedic magic trick scene either way.
I had enough of that augghgh

I just want Clad to get to the End and the Death already
hes already breaking in Saturnine
he needs to suffer and be broken

(even tho i think Sat is a good book minus some bits)
Saturnine was probably my favorite SoT novel. That or EoE.
The rest is a mix bag for me personally.
The only parts i hated were the dumb religious debate chapters but otherwise its a really good one.
no Slenderman/Keeler I dont care if the emperor is a god or not
Aur that's fair. It has been done to death.
I think its a good idea but theres just so many chapters of it.
If they’re so fragile that me saying that it’s an inherently wacky setting is that big a deal then they probably shouldn’t be online at all.
Its not really about being fragile, you are also the one jumping into its defense when you can just accept some people dont like it.
like this again goes very much both ways.
People disagreed with my takes all the time, I don’t go crying to the mods about it.
I was completely blown away by all the Olly and the frontline stuff. Shit had me in tears ||when the Sister of Silence knowingly charges at Angron knowing it wouldn't do shit lmao||.
Great stuff
They’re entitled to their opinion and I’m entitled to disagree or in this case just say it’s relative
Thats more due to your attitude than the topic in question

"they are dumbasses"
I was about to mention Oll lmao
I think his chapters are ok
could be cut a bit short
Saturnine will always be the best siege/heresy book for me
It’s basically exactly what I wanted out of the siege
I thought it was one of the better attempts to reestablish the lore.
Yeah again it can just use some cut of fat.
And it annoys me that so many of them couldn’t do what it did
what annoys me is like
"we worked together for the entire series"
no you didnt lol
Like yeah, it makes sense that all these events would later turn into fables. Hella cool.
its just empty marketing talk
I hate how like, there’s sooo much shit they could cram in there
And they insist on these dogshit b plots
Yeah and all we get half the time is people just talking about shit in empty rooms.
like i get it you cant always have us be at the walls watching the fighting but jesus man
I DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR STUPID JOURNALISM SUBPLOT
😭
I think my favorite parts with these books releasing was people being mad at the Ollanius Pious story being "ruined"
like him being immortal was never gonna matter, Horus was a superbeing he would always perma-kill him somehow
(now what annoys me is they never say if hes permadead, only that he claw-swiped him
)
ONE SENTENCE of Oll's soul was ripped to oblivion from Horus' claw swipe being imbued with the powers of the immaterium or something would have done it
i assume they'll maybe wrap it up in the anthology? Abnett has a story segment so we'll see i guess
Tune into SoT anthology story #12 to learn more I guess
We both know that's going to be a Grammaticus story. Don't kid yourself.
Unless it's some we have Dante's Inferno at home kind of story I don't expect very much to come of it.
Just assuming Horus was so chaos juiced up that he was able to utterly destroy him with that one swipe.
Definitely one of the weaker parts of that book.
It’s annoying cause the vignettes in part 1 are so good
And it’s a really cool section
Part 1 was definitely the strongest out of the three for me.
We said it a thousand times here but yeah the 3 books are great there is just so much fat because Kyme didnt do his job as an editor lol
I don’t even mind the length but it needed more happening, way more
also Abnett uses the same apocalypthic imagery a bit too much, its cool the first time
More characters and stuff going on
And not all the same “warp door opens and we’re somewhere else”
"It was our end and our death"
"SAMUS IS THE METROIDVANIA BEHIND YOU, SAMUS ARAN IS THE WAIFU BESIDE YOU"
SHUT THE FUCK UP

Also it really really needed a fallout part
For the final book
They really needed to end with the Emperor on the throne
And Guilliman landing
yeah thats all for the anthology i guess
if it isnt there im legit gonna be mad lol
guh
I love Abnett but there is parts where you wanna hit em with a frying pan
He just needs any editor like anyone else
I mean
And he didn’t have one
he had one
Can't wait for the new Primarch books about them stopping at McDonald's for soft serve before heading to Terra.
you remember what the editor said to him right
He did but he didn’t
"Write as much as you want"
wow thanks
wanna do your job dipshit?
sees its Kyme
"nevermind"

Overall though, I liked it, it did the important beats well which is what I wanted.
God more of Abnett writing Ferrus which was nice.
Neverkyme you could say
Seeing ghost Ferrus was a highlight. Dude was a prick even after death.
That said it just opens up more opportunities to bring back dead Primarchs in some capacity so I'm iffy about that.
I think he was a bit too nice imo
i assumed it was a daemonic trick at first
like the "take my head back please" bit was good
but he was way too cheery for me
its why i was unsure if he was real
If they wanna bring them back tbh there’s nothing that’s gonna stop them
also that yeah
the Warp entirely exists for narrative excuses
its entirely possible lol
I doubt we ever see Sanguinius or Ferrus back though
Tbh I liked that stuff
Until it got overdone but the idea was sick
It made the stakes clear
How fucked everything was
Abnett does weird shit like that well
And describes it well
At least let Ferrus be in charge of the Legion of the Damned if that's the case. Just go full schlock at that point.
i think its the result of like minus Fehervari almost no author actually explores that the Warp would cause paranormal creepy events like this.
Its always meatwalls or creepy daemonic structures with tentacles.
Yeah
My thing is, if he has to come back, I don’t want him talking to anyone, Revenant Ferrus would be ok for me.
Same for Sanguinius
Fehervari is great at that stuff. His NL short story about them getting recruits is such a cool spin on them.
They should be forces of nature that don’t actually interact outside of fights
It also lets the Imperium have big dudes who can “die”
Which imo they need
Honestly fair
I definitely don't need a 15 hr book about ghost Ferrus getting his groove back.
Not much urgency there.
The IH chapter is built on knowingly rejecting his ideals.
Revering and respecting him, but thinking he was wrong, and imperfect.
Having him be a revenant who shows up sometimes would be fine by me though
It’s a cool image and LotD are cool imo, just gotta use them sparingly
"You'll be visited by three spirits..."
IH somehow end up with the most healthy primarch relationship despite it still being super fucked
Also, Sor Talgron getting his scene and his whole arc finished was not what I expected
Of all the people to get it
I kept thinking we might get Malcharion
To be fair Abnett did say he tried to include an ending to essentially everyone.
One of the reasons why the book is so bloated for good and bad reasons imo
At its core they mostly did a good job wrapping stuff up, but it should have been at most two books
Yeah it’s some end of the return of the king movie shit lol
Me waking up to another day of Darktide lore chat
Lmao this gif
I have an Iranian colleague and we’re always randomly calling shit haram
This chat is the equivalent of that moody chick in 9th grade. Sometimes she is all bubbly and happy go lucky, drowning you in an informative/inspirational speech about world peace and happieness only for her to abruptly turn on a dime 5 minutes later, whip out the black lipstick and glare at you for the next 45 minutes only to then resume the happy go lucky persona out of the blue....
Anyone have any Savlar Chem dog books or short stories
I know there’s some but I can’t recall the names off the top of my head
Iirc one of the horror shorts is one
They got no meaningful appearance in anything tbh.
Fuck
this short story is prob the best you'll get very recent but EXTREMELY well written.
👍
it feels like an excerpt from a larger novel ironically
the savlar in it are complete assholes, its funny as fuck
I was mildly disappointed by how little the Savlar showed up in Baneblade
One day
I have come to steal anything not nailed down, and do hard drugs.
And I already stole everything
lol
Now I have to read it! Also enjoyed Finest Hour recently, even if it wasn't as good as The Sum of its parts as an Astra Militarum short story.
Yeah its a handful of pages anyway but showcases how Savlar are like really well
a rare case of me actually recommending a warhammer Short in any capacity lol
theres a Savlar guy in guy haley's Baneblade
which is a pretty sick book generally
oh it was mentioned above already
The intro where the baneblade is forged is very good
how is the horus heresey collection vol 1 for the horus heresey, got a buddy who wants to get into HH
I was hoping to start reading 40k books. I was wondering if that can be done with a book from Necromunda. If yes, which one? Are there any easy to read Necromunda books?
ive never read any necromunda books
i suspect its much easier to start with actual 40k
start with Eisenhorn its poggers
assuming you mean novels anyway!!
otherwise get some of the necromunda rule books cause they have tons of background
If you specifically want books id recommend:
- Uprising
- Fire Made Flesh
- Terminal Overkill
Aside from books, what other form of content are there?
I'm assuming the rulebooks are primarily about how to play the game and whatnots. Why are there so many of them?
Sorry, this kind of hobby is completely unfamiliar for where I am from. I don't know what the whole tabletop games in general.
List of Necromunda Rulebooks, Sourcebooks and Expansions.
I understand the tabletop components get balance changes over time like video games... and units get added.
But why are there so many books per edition.
All of them have lots of lore as well, the reason there are so many is that each of them are for different scenarios/campaigns and/or factions
and every faction usually has their own rulebook
1st edition has 4 books and 2nd has 1. Is it due to fluctuation of popularity?
Also, are the older editions outdated now (lore-wise).
they're not
So worth reading? Or, information got retconned or something?
I can't say for sure, I've not read the original ones but what I know of they're just as valid as the current ones. The current ones probably just retread lot of the same lore that was originally released with the first edition books
but there is a lot new stuff as well
and the reason why there were less books is because the faction rules were contained in the main rule book and they weren't updated before the next edition
unless some were added in White Dwarf or something
which is a monthly magazine release Games Workshop does
Older edition core rule books aren’t worn it for munda
The lore is just
Different
Delaque, Goliath and Van Saar all have pretty different tones
Little unrelated side tanget since all the few people of the Server i care about are in here: i just noticed that YouTube shorts now fields an ad every 3rd Video instead of every 5th. The greedy bastards are getting desperate...
Anyways, back to lore.
What is y'alls thoughts about the ventris sixtology? I love it
Its a very good one, Ventris is a fun dude
i do love how his series starts with him being a dipshit before he gets traumatized from being unbirthed in a flesh-bag 💀
Only through 4 of them so far, I'm a fan. None of the anti-blueberry brigade have read these books lol
Funniest scene was at the end of the book leading to black sun dead Sky where He and passanius fought a greater deamon and there was nothing they could do lol..
Friggen helpless.
Just goes to show that you need librarians, Inquisitor hacks or some other wacky shit in order to deal with them...
Unless you have a batallion of tanks. Then you just shoot it with all barrels the moment it spawns on the battlefield 🫣
The anti blueberry brigade is merely the anti matt wardt brigade and those who always jump on any convenient hate bandwaggon in order to upkeep their moral superiority
Easily manipulated? Generally unpleasant? I’ve found my people.
" pok h’chal"
bro WHAT
why is the name of the dish relevant
the book is already 100 pages too long
dan,,,,,,,,
What are you grousing about now
Whatever it is, just tell him legion is good and enjoy him falling into a frienzy that would make a world eater proud lol
He didn’t even read it so his opinion on Legion isn’t valid
naur man not legion
saturnine
Knew it
its not bad just has a few WHY IS THAT HERE lines
to be fair
that is like a requirement with Abnett Siege stuff
most of it is good
some parts are "why is this here"
I hope you'll like the Erda stuff (:
If you removed Abnetts name from the cover he’d be in love
ill have you know i started bitching before i noticed
You will stand ready for Abnett's arrival worm
I was NOT given orders
i was NOT given time
It’s the best Siege book and I really really like a lot of the later siege books
Even if you were given both you'd still have refused lmao
It goes Saturnine, Echoes, Warhawk for me
HE KEEPS DOING IT
"Erda was tall, by any human standards. He’d forgotten that about her. She
wore a simple, floor-length thob of indigo cotton,"
do you know what thob means?
Isn’t it like a cloak or something
Or is this a slur I don’t know
it means DRESS
to be fair, massive improvement over "she was wearing a skintight suit"
why the fuck would he just not say that
its just arabic for dress
i feel like dan is writing books just to fuck with me
its to sound intellectual tbh, not much beyond that
hey hey HEY
how about she can wear whatever she wants ok?
not on my watch
LEGIONARIES, TO ME
are the physical copies of the space shark novels no longer in production?
I dont think so? Their "oldest" book is from 2017
Thats unfortunate
lmao
Got my gf into 40k and she wanted to read them
Yeah but she can't stand reading ebooks though, as her preference
welp her loss i guess
its either that or buying expensive secondhand ones from ebay

I think they're on audible if she can stand audiobooks
Reading 40k and not using digital formats is painful
mood lol
holy shit i already hate erda
||"erm ur a fake perpetual your opinion doesnt matter"||
||"the emperor is moving things too fast and thats wrong because uhhhhh"||
tbh she comes off as horney for him and mad because he was busy at work
her house is full of every female goddess representation and she compares him to every male god
I took her as just an example of how arrogant perpetuals often are, a lot of the things she criticizes, rightly, the Emperor for she also exhibits
Actually they do
Physical books are the only way I can focus. Plus we spend too much time staring at screens enough as it is
Paperback forever
Weak and undisciplined
Rannick pls
Her segments were like universally hated when the book came out lmao
The least intimidating inquisition member
It’s the haircut
worst part is i think shes making me like gramaticus now
If you like grammy read Legion
my hate for legion outweighs all
Just as worse
Does grammaticus gets worse as the series progress? He wasn't that bad in legion
Does he even comes back before the siege of terra?
Awful character. Destroy him.
Yeah he does.
His problem is like-
he legit feels like a marvel character in a 40k book
yes
saying shitty one liners, acting all cocky, being a clueless idiot, you actually can make an entire essay on it
a lot worse
in Legion hes fine, he just gets really worse as the series goes on
He was clueless indeed
at the very end he ends up in a cave fucking around for all of time
he got primarched
hes just lost in a cave somewhere doing something with rope and feathers of sangui
i havent read it yet but im sure its stupid
Hes essentially stuck in a timeloop
id explain but i hate timey-wimey shit, someone else do it
It's ok, they'll develop his story in the 100 novels Scouring series
Time is a circle
they did
its called the fucking Black Books
READ.
huh
damn
im pretty sure i asked about here before but no one asnwered me
"The core campaign books of the Horus Heresy Series, known informally among fans as the "Black Books," are black in colour and leather-bound with embossed metal"
campaign?
ew
im gonna smash your legs with a sledgehammer
They’re rule books
You can literally find all 13 of them for free on the internet lol
lazy ass punk ass
ye i know
but i dont wanna read rule books
its a slippery slope
first im reading rule books then im painting kill teams then im painting them
is it not well founded?
I mean no it isnt
you do realise half of this setting's lore comes from rulebooks right

I was trying to be nice but yeah lmao
They’re also “rulebooks”
Like that’s one section at the end
The lore is all its own thing mostly
So stop being a pussy and read them dork
One day we'll burn this guy at the stake
lets not do that

get him my legionaries
As a muslim i approve 🪨
Welcome to the writing/wording for 40k, where every writer to a degree neeeds to pretend that they are clever with words, some do it better some worse (looking at you, Thorpe...)
Thats should be punishable by drukhari torture
So the typical woman then?
We're friends now lol
Ive only ever read about him in legion, where He didnt bother me too much
Once youre dead imma burry you with a physical copy of legion so you stay dead lol
Lets hope GW forgets about him and doesnt dust him off later
As charming as ever. Dishing out the armenian treatment
We're getting cancelled with this one lol
oh nonononono NONONO dont say what were all thinking
i will literally wake up to tear it up
I am german. Stating the obvious is my profession
Lets put that theory to the test shall we 🫣💀
meet half way in austria?
Sure. Thats Germany light anyway lol
ye
But btw where are you from?
im from the middle east but staying in hungary rn
Jonapot
Tell me all about it lol
My family has a house there. I visit it every summer. Beautiful country
Berlin can burn. Godforsaken hellhole
What exactly do you mean?
making a joke
Bruh i am german. I would not recognize a Joke If it hit me in the head lol. i would report it to the police though
you refered to the entire region as a country so i made a joke refering to a hypergeneralized issue that would apply to everything
Mein gott
Its not so bad
Frankfurt is just worse in every way
I only passed through Berlin once on the way to Poland in the mid 2000s but I wasn't particularly impressed
Yeah visually it isnt anything, since a lot of it has been rebuilt. If anyone likes it, its because of the social climate
and döner
I do like currywurst, I'll give it that
but the town I went to in Poland was like 50% roofed at the time
village really
Berlin central my behated....
There's a battle beast spin off from invincible apparently?
Yeah
The best part is its also very successful lol
We're also getting a starship troopers adaptation made by guy who directed district 9 gonna be a sony/Columbia movie
I haven't seen any of his films I don't think but district 9
you are missing out
Chapplie and Elysium are super good
he definitely has a knack for cool sci-fi shit
They arent high fiction but they are real good mindless grounded sci-fi movies
deffo worth it
Never seen these. Not a big movie guy
repeating myself when i say you're missing out, they are very fun
Requires to much sitting still and i tend to commentate everything that happens on screen. So that means i have to watch them by myself and when i am already by myself with leisure time id rather play darktide or medieval II
Like i said, nof a big movie guy. I get easily distracted and bored (thx adhd). When i watch football and i see my team get behind in goals for more than 30 minutes i legit shut the TV off....
Not a long format content guy.
Yeah but football is really boring though i dont blame you
Elysium has pretty cool visuals but as a story it is very forgettable and bland, Chappie is alright though
New starship troopers could be cool though
you say this like people remember most names of the main characters in movies
But the discussion online about how “the bugs are scary so ofc humans are the good guys” revival is gonna be hell
It never died tbh so not looking forward to that lol
Helldivers also revived it, as much as the devs do a great job of keeping up the fact that its all satire
and the fandom gets mad with each reminder

me when a fan of a setting that obviously portrays humanity as the bad guys gets mad when you remind them that the people they are playing are bad guys
( apparently they love the fantasy of being a warmongering soldier or something
I'm a bit cautious with the Starship Troopers movie because Blomkamp's take will apparently be more like the book than the Verhoeven movie
and the book is very questionable at best
Questionable in what way
It's pretty much pro-fascist in it's approach to the society rather than ridiculing it where as the Verhoeven movie made it a ridicule
we had a whole argument in lorechat about it once were there was a disagreement over that and it being "not what the author intended"
yeah but it does represent itself that way
regardless of his intentions
This article was pretty rough on Blomkamp but I agree for the most part. Still, it can be a decent romp in the end if it ever comes out
https://www.avclub.com/neill-blomkamp-making-starship-troopers-movie
Honestly don't care much for his stuff outside of District 9.
Very fair opinion, most think the same
His Alien movie did sound pretty cool tho.
he's got an eye for shit that looks very cool but the depth isn't there for his movies
Sucks it never happened.
yeah
Did you ever play that weird battle royale game he did?
It's called Off the Grid I think.
Yeah he did the story for it but it's pretty weak sauce honestly.
It's what you'd expect for a televised battle royale story I guess. Also had NFTs too I think?
of course it did
Honestly
They do look cool I'll say
But the stories are

Chappie is awful, Elysium at least has Damon, Copley and Foster trying their hardest to make that silly plot work.
Elysium feels like Blomkamp had all these sci fi weapon ideas he wanted to show and then he needed an excuse to do it.
I honestly like Alex Garland more as both a director and story teller.
I think Blomkamp is a really really good visuals guy and I like his style.
Blomkamp's short films on YouTube can be hella cool tho.
But he needs someone else to write.
He's got good ideas
Just needs someone else to execute the dialogue and stuff.
I'm looking forward to Starship Troopers cause hes using someone elses material as a base.
But, I don't expect much story wise. I do think he'll nail the suits at least though.
Also yeah I never really cared about people defending the author with the whole "he didnt mean it that way" lol
Well it takes a severe illiteracy of his work to think he was fascist but
He wrote a lot more than Starship troopers
And those books didn't have the same ideals at all, its not complicated.
Yeah agreed, one of the most blandest books I ever read. Literally couldnt manage it ala Verhooven the first time before I had to finish it properly awhile later for a bookclub i was in lmfao
I won't even try reading it
I know enough without reading it
And no, Clad. This is not the same thing as Legion
So how different is it to the movie, i never read it
Its really different, the bugs, the humans using power armor etc.
Instead of just a book review, let's compare the book vs the movie for Heinlein's Starship Troopers. This book is one of my favorites, but the movie does a better job of getting across the story and the satire. What do you think?
SCIENCE FICTION ALLIANCE:
Alliance website & Merch - https://ww...
theres lot more to it.
There’s almost no real connection
Beyond the name and some basic plot points
For the better thankfully, made Starship Troopers more famous than it probably would ever get
The novel is a very weird book where nothing really happens
it was so cool to not know about political layer of the film, when i was young
"yooo cool bugs daaaamn"
Yeah like I said really glad they didnt follow the book in any capacity
it would have made for a so much more boring movie

Is it actually that boring? I wanted to read it for awhile but I might get it as an audiobook instead lol
Its just a libertarian or whatever mouthpiece for Heinlein, its a product of its time that also parodies american jingoism (which is pretty topical in the last 3 decades lol)
I played this for a bit had no cross console match making tho so you can only play w people on your console/ pc
To play w someone from playstation you'd have to both lobby up at the same time and hope you get lucky
That bitch is a lot more easy to hate thats for sure

But yeah I'll try to find an audiobook if the plot is that bland, I just wanna read it for myself.
Its probably worth it just to say you at least read the book, I just still cannot express how boring it is to read, so the audio choice is for the better.
What makes it that way exactly?
Its basically a character journey for Rico but for a book from the 50's it just doesnt really do a good job of it imo.
Like I said its more a mouthpiece novel than something with an actuall good story, the book essentially isnt really remembered for anything much in most media circles aside from being one of the first depictions of power armor in a sci-fi setting and getting a movie adaptation
Yeaaaaah I assumed as much
Theres basically a reason you never see anyone talk about this book unless its a tie-in to talk about the movie lol
I noticed

I also dont blame for anyone that doesnt wanna read it, like I said it doesnt really have much substance unless you wanna read the political POV of some boomer from that era of time.
Is it true it's very political ?
Very much yeah but its like in the middle minus some bits
Its not as cringe as like said above Ayn Rand
where she rants like some wannabe nutjob about how poor people are terrible
its just again very boring
Ah got ya
It’s like all Heinlein stuff, it’s an exploration of philosophies in sci fi
The actual combat parts are a pretty minor part of the book even if they’re neat
Anyway as said above its effects dont go much beyond having power armor and a movie made from it, its kinda in the lower tiers of sci-fi media.
its mostly a character story of Rico but even thats pretty bland
Its only worth it like I said if you wanna say you read the book.
Otherwise yeah you arent losing anything
I mean Heinlein was and is one of the first sci fi authors and founders of a lot of stuff, you may not like it but it’s well regarded for a reason.
It’s just not an action heavy book.
Its very much a mouthpiece for Heinlein's libertarian views
It helps if you don’t go in with a bone to pick too.
and his weird fanfic society where it all doesnt make a lot of sense lol
ıt definitely is
🍿
It’s not, the government heavily controls stuff
It is. His writing was fairly radical libertarian by Stranger in a Strange Land (the book after Starship Troopers) and stayed that way for the rest of his career.
He just liked writing different ideologies in a lot of different books
Not really but anyway yeah thats the book essentially.
You probably wouldn’t like it
Again only read it if you wanna say you did
it very much just has no substance for the most part
Yeah I got some audible credits ill see if its on there
I gotta finish Warhawk first, I'm doing a re-read.
Same, I'm trying to do Mortis again and failing.
Is it the titan/knight parts lol
LMAO
Like
I really wanted to restart this book with a strong conviction to finish it properly i.e read all the pages.
Im uhhh halfway through it and im legit struggling in the titan bits, its so fucking boring.
Yeah that was my impression of it.
I really like the character stuff but it makes me notice how samey mech shit in 40k can get.
It can be good
The Titan parts are the best part too, the fucking Oll bits are awful
The problem is titan combat is basic af unless you get creative with the writing ala Titanicus.
I have been failing mortis trials too lately
Its SOOO fucking empty
"wah wah im a bastard"
Cool, dont care, get in the fucking mech
You can tell exactly what’s gonna happen by like
LOL
The character introductions
Yeah I hated those parts fuck me
Also like
What I absolutely hate
you can entirely skip those chapters like I am right now
and absolutely lose nothing from the book, which is actually nuts
It adds nothing yeah
They do nothing
They have no impact
And that’s fine, but those parts need to be like, good then
And they’re not
The only decent scene is them reacting to the Ordo Sinister stuff
And even that ends abruptly
And #girlpower parts
God I hate it, why does Knight House stuff always have to suck in Titan books
Why can’t they do anything besides the most bland noble drama
Yeah the book just has so much filler, I really kinda wish I didn't start re-reading it since I basically failed my promise but im halfway through it on the Antakya hive part now, ill wrap up and move to Warhawk which thankfully I know is peak then Garro Knight of Gay and wrap up Siege there.
its ALWAYS the same shit
knight souls reject pilot
noble drama
cant control knight
oh no evil chaos knight i cant defeat them
SHUT UP
And they fucking cut away, right before Dies Irae is gonna duel three Imperators
We don’t get to see it do anything
Like wtf
all that fucking "69km to the walls" buildup at the end of each chapter for nothing btw
thanks John French, I appreciate it
That’s like if they cut away before Horus and Sanguinius fought and we just come back to him dead
Fucking Invincible ahh cutaway
What the fuck is the point
Oh lmao you were talking about a book 💀
KEK yeah we are
Yeah
Siege
It sucks too cause it’s sandwiched between all the best siege books
So it’s even more noticeable
Yeah I was looking up some reddit threads out of boredom from like 4-5 years ago and man its so funny
"most of the Siege up to this point has been shit/boring, only Abnett's books are the good ones"
I weep for anyone that had to read Solar War, First Wall and Mortis as they released
I liked Solar War, but I mostly agreed the earlier ones aren’t great
I love the void war/solar system battles in it
They have their moments
but like, its soooo stretched out
Yeah it sets the groundwork which is nice I guess, im mostly here for the logistics stuff, I think by the time the first feign traitor armada arrives it kinda slogs along
also the fucking
Keeler plot
no wait the fuck was her name
Mercedes something

*Mersadie, you mean?
ARGHHH
Well its not his book in this case but still lol
Its okay I'm sure he wouldn't appear any other time in the Siege 🙂
fuck you lol
I will, I gotta soldier through.
Im skipping all the knight chapters, the titan ones ill skimread.
I legit cannot fucking do it with all these empty setup chapters for the mecha stuff anymore man, I'm broken
Your walls werent strong enough, shame 😔
