It's so dumb of Horus to give command to Mortarion and to make his own plans with the titans
Literally nothing can be won without Perturabo
Well almost but yeah
when the book came out people really got mad at him quitting the field when it makes total sense lol
IT REALLY DOES
He can see everything when it comes to the battlefield
Mortis isn't a bad read so far
He never got the love and recognition he deserved 😔
I would love to see a massive iron warriors force come out of the rift and just start marking its own little kingdom.
Then you can have a cool trilogy with perturabo next to the rift just making impossible to seidge fortress worlds and the lion or gman attempting to break it.
Best thing would be if it had perturabo make some shit to expand the rift slowly and in the end the imperium just losses and can't deal with them.
thats kind of abaddon and vashtorrs plan i think
and perturabo is working with vashtorr
so thats possible
I'd feel more sorry for him if he wasn't such a terrible person. Even before meeting Big E the dude was a prick (I actually enjoy that about him).
Perturabo is the one really well written primarch
Until you learn that fact that he just becomes a daemon primarch later.
Perturabo is well written. Angron is a tragedy. Both are my primarchs ☺️
Angron is def the more sympathetic of the two.
I wouldn't put that as poorly written either, there's not that much info even about his ascension
dude made the iron cage, balling, sacrifices baziliion imperial fist geneseed, gains power
But is given more free reign as long as he spread everything Nurgle wants
he's not under nurgle, chaos undivided
I just find it irritating that the HH really plays into the fact that he was so against warp corruption and hated his brothers for ascending only for him to ascend later on.
Besides that I enjoy him for being a complete asshole for giggles.
I'm pretty sure Nurgle controls whatever daemon Perturabo made a deal with
I dunno about that but he is not devoted to nurgle in the end

I'm sure we'll get the full story twenty years from now.
And hopefully Perturabo manages to outsmart the daemons and rid his body of it
Isn't he just a walking tank at this point?
A little hard to come back from that. I guess Big E also tried to convince Morty to come back to the Imperium so maybe there is some mcguffin that we just don't know about yet.
Give Perturabo to Abnett
abnett already has too much 😭
give stuff to my Graham McNeill and aron something something
No damn it I need moar bequin
legit wont happen for minimum 5 years
SHUT YOUR MOUTH!!!
its tru
theyre planning some big reveal and itll prolly be there im sure they wanna get all their ducks in a row beforehand
Every1 is so shocked by this revelation book club chat has gone quiet
nah i just stopped talking about books until i finish them
When are you finishing Legion?
never
doing slave to darkness atm and tbh
im not sure if its because wolfesbane was better but idk
it seems a bit worse
not awful just not as good
You know what's better than both of those? Legion.
first two chapters are unbearable dribble
idc how good you guys claim the book is the start is awful
Dang, I got the dark coil anthology cause I was like “oh great, xenos content I haven’t read!” Only to realize I’ve read all of it individually before and didn’t remember
Some of the best books I've ever read in the 40k universe don't/barely involve space marines at all (I said this before I think)
I think that's what I like about Dan Abnett the most
Like sure he writes some Astartes novels
But his inquisitor series 🤌🏻
Reading about demi gods: 🙄
Reading about demi gods from the perspective of average humans:
Almost like there’s a direct correlation to lack of POV space marines and fun
It’s so much more interesting seeing astartes from non astartes perspectives, be that human or xenos
Just read a excerpt about ogryns from a tau perspective and it was great
It depends on where you started tbh
If someone starts in the 40k universe with the horus heresy
All they will see is space marines
and their perspectives
Yeah but Horus heresy is a can of worms im not gonna get into rn
Pretty much anyone that’s gonna have a problem with this opinion is only space marine fans so don’t worry about it

I enjoyed having a human contingent being reminded of how inhuman Astartes actually are
Shit i forgot to join in hold on
You are unbearable dribble. READ LEGION.
Is it premeditated clad beat down time
Always 💪
aight then time to trample him
where is this gif from?
Callisto protocol I think
Thank u
no
Yes. Read it.
no
Yes.
don't read it
40k fans when i dont want to read john slopmmaticus
You're just racist against perpetuals
Deserved honestly
"Only Johnny O'donnell"
You would
Finished listening to Leontus: Lord Solar. Best description I could give it is it was a very safe book. Guard vs Orks is a go to, and there isn’t anything really that separates it from other Guard books. You could probably replace Leontus with another Guard commander and it wouldn’t change all that much. I enjoyed it for what it was but probably won’t be reading it again any time soon.
That being said, I did like a couple of moments that if the book was longer, I think could’ve been expanded upon. Spoilers ahead:
||At the end of the book, Leontus returns to his chambers to add another memento to his collection, a collection of items that help him remember his fallen soldiers. What I think would’ve been neat is instead of ending on that scene, start there, and then as he’s walking to deliver the most recent addition, he stops and reminisces on a couple of different items. Each one would flash to a different campaign, where he learns the ins and outs of each regiment. This culminates in the events of the actual story where he has to navigate leading different regiments together in the field. Not only do I think this would lead to a more in depth look on how Leontus operates, it would provide explanation to how he’s so good at knowing the men and women under his command besides “He’s the Lord Solar.”
I also liked the comment made that he’s a Lord Solar operating in the age of Returned Primarchs, so while he wields the power of the entire Imperial Guard, he will always be lesser to essentially demigods. At the same time, it’s clear in the book that Leontus knows he cannot live up to that nor even the likes of Mecharius, but he’s going to try.||
Its very mid so yeah
My big disappointment was from the description tbh
I just wanted a book about Leontus doing his like
Main job
My favorite part of this book was like
This man is a Lord Solar
Instead it’s some stupid “oh no he’s behind enemy lines and there’s other regiments and ugh”
And he does nothing regarding his actual job lmao
Also hes just on some bumhole planet fighting orks instead of just anywhere on the front of the 4th Tyrannic War
Genuinely like why
^
it legit feels out of place
I guess there was some mishap in İts production in the background thats the only excuse i can think of admittedly
Headcanon is this is before the tyrannic war but yeah no idea why he’s there
I don't inherently hate the idea but, we don't lack for books about guard in those scenarios.
What we do lack, is how the fucking second in line to the high lords guard commander does
Anything
Yeah that’s why I thought it was a safe book
There wasn’t much of an attempt to step outside the boots on the ground guard vs xenos/chaos storyline
I think in trying to make Leontus into a character that “oh don’t worry guys he might look like a propagandist painting he can fight” they sort of forgot that where he’s best is his mind. There are examples of this in the book, sure, but nothing extremely 4D chess that you’d expect a Lord Solar to be capable of
The fact that we havent gotten a book of that calibre since the Macharius series is also just disappointing honestly, its the exact sort of thing i was wanting for this book where he gets to stretch his brain as a warmaster but the moment i read the synopsis before the book was out kinda was a downer.
And his “dark” decision making being stuff as basic as oh no he used a regiment as bait how could he do this!
Yeah lol. You’d have gotten more dark if his principles snapped and ||he shot the Attilan for insubordination, regressing to what he was as a younger officer||
Yeaaah like tho thats more my bias talking. I really dont like the idea of Leontus personality wise but i also get why they did this because people dont exactly usually like following an evil general character around all that much lol
He needs to be somewhat “relatable”
I think he just needed more time. 5 hours is short
He was much better in the Tyrannic War rulebook even if he barely got screentime
And well barely got to do anything rip

Anyway if i have to read the words “he fired Sol’s Righteous Gaze” one more time im gonna snap
That man had the archaeotech pistol on full auto lmao
We had to remind the audience to buy his mini because cool laser gun
😭😭😭
But yeah i hope if he ever gets a second book it’ll be more different, we’ll see i guess
There’s potential there At least. I expected far worse
Good thing we got another high ranked IG officer who’s confirmed to commit horrific atrocities
Shame he’s from krieg but whatever lol
I will take my war criminals where I can get them
Never enough
Waiter! Waiter! More war criminals please!
"Hmmm...yes I'd like some more warcrimes in that sector. Thank you."
Bombard that orphanage NOW
orphanage are awful places artillery bombardment was the most human thing to do
is it truly a warzone if the advance isnt measured in war crimes per meter?
Tu'Shan is watching you
Cookin
Agatone will let me burn all the civllians I want
this is why he's the 3rd company GOAT

3rd company of the salamanders literally incinerate civilians

its their like
role
"They also have the grim duty of purging populations condemned as rebels, heretic or xenos sympathizers."

burn them all
That's not very Salamandery...
ur looking like an eldari child rn and my fists are looking a lot like a heavy flamer...
Here's the thing with the community
They basically gaslight the entire fandom with misinformation
Space marines are raised to be emotionally tough and basically follow orders as super soldiers
There are good marines yes but a good majority of them would probably treat your life as a resource
or worst straight up kill you
With no remorse
If they find you getting in their way
they all would kill you if you get in their way or knock you out at least
but the standard is how much of a convenience they are willing to take with you
Good thing salamanders seen nothing like the memes
They’d be lame if they were
Dont show this guy what their one Company does
I already mentioned them
That’s why they said that
3rd company my GOATs
Its what any space marine would do if they were assigned to so and felt it was reasonable. But I'm sure the Salamanders would take no pleasure in having to quell a simple, non chaos human rebellion through violence
Plus knowing them, odds are they'd only kill the combatants. Non combatants would most likely be left alone
With pragmatism being one of their core virtues, they'd see no reason to kill unarmed civilians as long as they didn't pose any sort of threat
Well I wouldn't say that lol. Sure the memes exaggerate their kindness to a comical degree but they're still exceptionally nice and compassionate towards regular humans in the actual lore
Nah they absolutely massacre innocents too.
The supplement outright says they do it because they must but sorrowfully, its mostly a kickback against things like this where people always meme Salamanders as "kind" people when they absolutely massacre and burn populations that stand up against the Imperium lol
They’re exceptionally nice by marine standards yes
But they aren’t bleeding hearted empathy filled people
Like memes state they are
“We left those worlds 2 ways, compliant or ash”

I think that depends on the degree to which said populations stand against the imperium. Chaos and xenos sympathizers? Yes I could absolutely see them wiping every single one out. Simple rebellion? There's more room for discretion there on the Salamanders' part. We see Calgar use that same discretion when dealing with chaos cultists following Nurgle.
Rebellion also get wiped.
Calgar kills them
They absolutely dont care who they stand up for
He says they’re all going to be killed lol
But not the children
He sends the younger ones into the guard
That’s still death
lol
Lol
Still considerably more merciful given the other option
I mean it isnt
Idk
at all
I’d rather die
Never said it was
Yeah but "merciful" is like extremely stretching it
helping an absolutely awful regime fight against foes it perpetuates until you die in some ditch
Also the salamanders do just
and waste your entire life lol
Kill people lol
^
Its why you barely ever see them being assigned to plots/stories that would make them do actual evil acts their Imperium asks them to.
Well
because then they'd ruin the community perception
Rulebooks
Yeah but again
Which people refuse to read
Idk
I’m angry people act like salamanders wouldn’t
Burn like
An entire world to ash for resisting the imperium
They have done so, they will do so, and are probably doing it as we speak
Lol
Like, yes, they have empathy for loyal imperial citizens
The whole compliant or ash thing from the black books goes hard as hell
And it’s lame people ignore it
I'm too poor to afford all these books lol
The 3rd company are based on the destroyers of the salamander legion
🏴☠️
But the pyroclasts of the salamander legion and chapter are both just
Psychopaths with some level of empathy
I wanna buy the sm codex next but that probably won't be for a while
Well
I wouldn’t the current one ngl
The 10e one is fine
The 8e one is better
And getting the heresy black books physically is impossible
So piracy is pretty much the only way to read them
I'd rather buy the one that's up to date with 10th edition
Again let me make it clear that I do not view them as the memes portray
Which is the massive contrast and hipocracy of the chapter
I know they can absolutely merciless when the situation calls for it, as any space marine chapter would
I meant by like, imperium standards lol, not ours. And tbh unless you're some bougie ass governor living on a paradise world there's really no way for the people of the imperium to escape the horrors the galaxy throws at them. Even if you manage to avoid getting attacked by some alien race or chaos cell, your soul still gets taken to the warp after death lol
I mean even ignoring the chaos/aliens your own form of government makes you suffer about as much if not worse, so theres no point in really comparisons or alternatives imo.
I do wonder at the people looking for the good guys in the warhammers. It's like going to the landfil looking for something nice and new to me
But there's many things I don't get, like shipping
There's only bad guys and worse guys
You'll rarely see people being genuinely serious about character shipping that could never happen in the lore
Its just for laughs in most cases
Not getting shipping is definitely the weirder take
people just like romancing characters sometimes lol
Yeah lol, I mean personally I think the Guilliman x Yvraine jokes can still be pretty funny if done well
I mostly see shipping on the tumblrs, where folk get really weird about it. I think it doesn't help
but I also just don't really understand why'd you want to romance some fictional people, but I also don't do romances in games
That's just people having fun with head canons. If they're well versed enough on 40k I'm sure they're well aware of the fact that these ships could never canonically happen
Personal preference, role playing, etc
It just really comes down to how people enable in the hobbies they enjoy
It is what it is, I'm not against it either. It's just in the nebulous relam of a bit weird to me
Speaking of which, I found this today and I think its great lol. Love the art style
Poor Yvraine's only sin was being a female character 💀
Nah
It’s her goofy dress

I wish she had another look for battle
The dress is cool though
no lol
also "goofy" mfer its literally a normal ass dress
😭
To think, if GW hadn't dropped that holiday artwork of her and Guilliman having dinner together, all the memes about them probably wouldn't have existed at the extent that they do today lol
Its also that shes eldar they have a long long history of trying to help humanity against chaos then getting mad and attacking so she must have other motivations if she hasnt attacked yet
they'd still ship em
I mean no
shes a forefront female character and Roboute is a big blonde guy
it aint that deep beyond that
Well yeah of course people would, but like I said, not to the extent that its done today
I dont know about that tbh, people love pairing female elf characters constantly because they cant think with anything beyond whats in their pants usually

True lol
Trust me, fandoms have shipped two m/f characters that barely even interact with each other in canon material sometimes
coomers will find a way lol
Dont know about the "getting mad" part, you would need to be a pure dumbass to trust the Imperium to begin with but she only helped resurrect Guilliman because it helps Chaos have a bigger target that isnt just attacking craftworlds and the Imperium is perfect for that kind of thing

Yeah pretty much, her motivations are pretty clear, people just dont read the lore (which is per usual)

Also this reminds me
Sons of Selenar is one of the few """Siege""" books i skipped, does it have anything good in it
Uhhh depends, it entirely exists because McNeill couldnt take his band of OCs to the Siege so instead he has them secure the future explanation of how the Primaris get made with the Magna Mater or whatever as the key mcguffin to the whole thing
it has some interesting bits but its largely sharrowkyn and those 3 iron hand dudes and 2 salamanders fucking around post-other Shatlegion stories as their ending
Yeah Ive seen some posts on it here and there but it was mostly complaining about some "anti-masculine tumblr writing" which made me go

LOL
Thats mostly some dumbasses getting mad at a Selenar Genewitch being sexist which is like, yes why wouldnt she be?
I assumed so, god I hate reddit
You and me both
But what else is there in the book?
Is it just bolterporn as per most 30k books ive read?
Uhhh here and there, it has some good moments but its largely these guys fucking around on their ship the Sissyboy or whatever its name is then going to the moon after getting a convenient distress beacon from the gene-witch that has the Mater and coming to secure/destroy the thing
Well not like they are gonna destroy it so i can assume this is a rare case where the mcguffin actually SURVIVES a plot

Considering its a part of Primaris lore yeah lol
Is that referring to like, combat heavy sections of stories or something lol
Never heard that term before
Never? Huh, its a very regular 40k literature term lol
Yeah what he said
But yeah its basically pages of essentially just boring combat description
largely relegated to astartes fluff
I only just got into 40k this past September and the only 40k novel I've read (and am still currently reading) is the Salamanders omnibus
LOL
Ye though bolter porn is very dependant on the novel, you will only notice it when you pause a book you are reading and arel ike
"am I gonna get to any page that isnt just bolters firing and people being shredded apart repeatedly"
👆
Its a big symptom still in some books, thankfully some good authors usually avoid it
Its largely done to pad out combat sections when the author is also not creative enough to write astartes/astartes violence or any other things Marines brawl with
sometimes it can be good but largely not so much
Also alright ill just get the novel second hand I guess
Yeah thats fair
I mostly wanna read it to fill the gap in my Siege collection since i read like everything else, even Solar War and First Wall which were dreadful
They really did not start the series well lol, it kinda sucks the only good parts are like Abnett's and like 1-2 authors.
Yeah it was. I still hated it lol
LMAO damn
"The fastest way to make the media go away is by mentioning astartes on astartes crime" type shit 😭

Ye no offense I like my marine/marine action scenes as much as the next guy but even I got a limit
and I own/am a black templar player
So far Nick Kyme hasn't been guilty of excessive bolterporn. There was a long fight scene between a small band of Salamanders and a whole shit ton of orks in the first book of the omnibus, but it was towards the end and was fun to read so it didn't drag on, plus it was broken up by separate fight scenes between another group of Salamanders and Iron Warriors and Dragon Warriors
Entering into 40k with Kyme books is definitely an interesting path to take.
I was gonna say
Well as long as you like the books I suppose
(a lot of people dont)
The rule of cool takes precedent lol
The salamanders are my favorite loyalist chapter so that's why I started with the omnibus when I got into 40k
Ooh, @tall phoenix - I was linked to a very fun thing about Valkia last night, I'll DM it to you as you may enjoy it too!
(If you want it - also, you probs need to add me first!)
Oh shit discord moment
I came in with the mindset Salamanders sound fun
Then I embraced who I was
Full on World Eater and Iron Warrior
still it has happened a few times
only example i can think of is the farseer
Kinda, it has happened maybe like 3-4 times across 30 years
people mostly meme it from Dawn of War
which itself has tons of goofy moments
LMAO
🚬 he was too stinky he didnt have a chance
me popping a zit
The zit is you, the hands are me
now read Legion
no

red one eyed dude? chaos
weird pale pointy toothed guy? chaos
statue esque guy with wings? loyal
etc
I mean
bald
Corax
CHAOS
but he was well spoken and showered
early onset hair loss is a sign of chaos
He def does not look showered
okie fine
Looks more showered than Curze probably
he was well spoken at least
Ngl not really
he litearlly looks like he just left the shower
look at his hair
it's the grease doing that
looks wet
Well being a hypocrite might be a standin for good looks
that's what greasy hair looks like
not shiny wet like wet wet
who says oily you're weird wolf
HOLY SHIT
ITS JAMES EARL JONES FROM CONAN THE BARBARIAN?
oh wait its just corax

flesh is strong, perturbo
flesh is weak, ferrus the beheaded
Bet his hands didn't work so good without his flesh brain 🤓
Some remembrancer lol
I find the curze sketch the funniest
Like how the fuck
do you think he would regularly break stuff accidentally
slaps the roof of a leman russ and caves it in
When he's used to going around forging things with his hands I like to think so
hitting nails with his palm
What are some of the essential T'au books
^
Every other Tau book sucks
Start with Elemental Council first then just go to somewhere like the Tau subreddit to ask for some book recommendations, theres a few "readable" ones.
imagine a book so good it becomes a must read for the faction
like damn
Kelly has singlehandedly destroyed Tau literature so lol
hey at least it's a good xenos book which is quite hard to find it's a win in my book
Peter Fehervari has interesting takes on the T'au that you can find find in:
All those are linked via at least one character:
- Out Caste (short story)
- A Sanctuary of Wyrms (short story)
- Fire Caste (novel, please note that T'au are present in it but not the main focus, although they get pov characters)
- An Altar of Maws (short story)
There's also:
- Fire and Ice (short story)
- The Greater Evil (short story)
I don't know how "essential" they are as Fehervari has his own little part of the universe with the Dark Coil, but I found the way he approached the T'au very interesting.
I’d agree his stuff is pretty great
Blades of Damocles was pretty solid too
It’s not amazing but of the offerings I probably liked it the most
Heretic
Though I will ALSO be reading elemental council...
Has anyone read Awakenings by George Mann (about the Inquisitor that was from a 40k comic series I've not read)
Reviews seem mixed but half tempted to pick it up
Finally got around to Head of the Hydra. It was great
i feel you because Gorkamorka is piledriving me through the floor this week
based
what even is the point of tau anymore?
they started out as good guys
now theyre an analogy of humanity during its age of tech era
but also they're mind controlled alines?
I've had a very Tuesday kind of a month, haven't had proper work besides "get to know to these two projects so you'll be ready to start creating a production testing environment for them". That was 5 weeks ago
They never were 'the good guys'
🙄
that's the truth
How do they treat the humans that work with them
Largely as second class citizens for the most part, they kinda live dystopic lives but its more akin to something like modern day China with a sci-fi flair
definitely still better than the Imperium which is even more hilarious lol
yeah you see they have this thing called healthcare
Lol yeah
free tau gfs
shut up
when will he read LEGION
a wise decision
protect him
It's honestly essential reading for the SoT. Unless he's just gonna skip through all the cabal and John stuff.
Which you know fair
I forgot if anyone here even read the entirety of Siege aside from me and maybe Doofternal
Me
I also did. Was quite a grueling experience.

Honestly hated half of it.
If some odd ten books were really essential they should've just went the novella route like Garro or Sons of the Selenar.
Hello im Dilara (69th Pan Turkic Airdrop Ass Regiment)
are you Lemon Russ (420th Dorktidian Discordants Regiment)
seriously abnett fuck off
My issue is like
theres SOOOO MUCH fucking filler
like even in the early books
No I'm actually a part of the 420th Chump Who Managed to Finish The First Wall Regiment.
When i'm in filler writing competition in my opponent is abnett
LOL
Oh sorry wait, I'm actually some random traitor regiment. Tee hee awesome plot twist
Seriously fuck off with that side plot.
What was their name again
Abbadabi or some shit
whos hives also get nuked, wow such revenge
Ligma Something Something
Would've worked much better as a short story that you can finish in like half an hour.
Yeah I agree, i think what I hate is people are like "the Siege is peak read all of it"
I did for example and man, if I have to read about 30 pages of wall defenses again im gonna go berserk
You don't get it man. It's important to tell the much needed story about how a guardsman picked his nose once.
Or like uh
Piers going on for 60 pages about "LEGENDS LIE BOY, STORIES SPREAD AND MISCONCEPTIONS GET MADE"
Like yes, riveting lol
Also throw in the word gestalt thirty times. We need to meet that word count quota.
Isn't abnett also like
A master of using obscure words
Yeah lol
"Oh you can just google what it means"
thanks dumbass I know
his issue is he just cannot reign it in sometimes. His Siege books are still some of my favorites.
Also before i forget its definitely id love to sit down and talk with some people in a group convo, i think Siege has a lot of fun/peak moments but its intercut with some of the worst stuff ever for every author's entry individually
Like I legit do not care about how Slenderman I MEAN Sindermann and that other religious lady whos name I already forgot founded the Imperial Cult or why they view the Emperor as a god.
He Gets carried away
Honestly i feel like his writing would shine if he knew the word holding back
*wet leopard growl*
Like I GET IT
I'M TRYING >_<
SHE’S HOT
best excuse as any tbh
😌
Bruh just put Mortis in the background. That book is absolute ass.
Hes been liking it so far
Got me snorkin through half of it.
funny because aside from Solar War/First Wall its like the most universally hated Siege book iirc
Only got through it because I was a delivery driver at the time.
What is era of ruin, and is there a paperback
Its not out yet but uh
basically post-Siege anthology
aka collection of short stories
Sounds neat
Yeah basically "heres what happened after the Siege which several authors will write short stories on"
very digestable
Last collection of stories was tales of heresy for me
Yeaaah basically that
It's got some of the highest highs in the whole series but also some really abysmal lows. Don't regret reading them but once was enough.
Could see myself rereading EoE or Saturnine tho.
Then maybe I'm built different. The only other book that had me
was The lost and the damned
THAT was a test
Also yeah same, it really could have used a better editing team as well
like the entire advertisement for Siege was its all these authors working together comparing notes and shit
yet they still sometimes walk over the others works
or entirely ignore/make some weird plotholes about characters
not that i care but its funny lol
It does suck because I really did enjoy how some characters were interwoven into the Siege but others were simply introduced to 1. Instantly die one book later or 2. Do absolutely nothing.
||RIP Andromeda-17 you died like a complete fucking moron.||
LMAOOOO BRO 💀
Do not ask a warhammer fan on what warhammer book to read they cannot judge literature
I like Keeler and Sinderman
I shouldn't of clicked this...

he paid the price
But also like the whole
"Well is the Emperor a god?"
"Who can say, i believe he is!"
"Well we cant say that!"
"We should!"
"Keeler PLEASE"
EVERY scene with them
LIKE I GET IT
This was interesting...for like the first two books...then you realize that's like the only fucking thing she does until the End and the Death.
I remember when I first starting reading
I read and Kharne's name came up
I was like "this character seems cool"
So I googled him
And saw "kharne the betrayer"...
:)
I learned to stop reading or looking things up
Yeah like now you know Kharne is never gonna die
and if he does he'll just resurrect lol
Yep, tho daemon primarchs are just NPCs
roar roar
get killed by loyalist primarch
minus like Horus who gets really good later on
I think my issue is its a more personal one, because im a deist IRL and the Emperor is also an absolutely awful person to worship
its why I loved that one uhh serial killer dude in Saturnine who Keeler interviews
Fasili bo
Nah before him, hes a random throwaway dude
his entire chapter starts with:
"The Emperor is a piece of shit, fuck him and his Imperium. Anyway heres why I killed over 300 rich people-"
"Interesting." 🗒️ Keeler notes
THEN they go interview Fo
I liked the Oly Pearson and Hari Harr stuff
Yeah those parts are funny
That had a good ending
Remember where she unknowingly let a giant fucking demon into the palace and almost ruined everything? Pepperidge Farms remembers...
Almost like the Custodians were right to be skeptical.
They just completely gloss over that shit in the next book.
Yeah she can continue to goof off.
Lmfao true
its okay Lemon she then ||prayed with like 1000000 people who all fucking Dr Manhattan'd themselves but at least they saved The Emprah||
god I hate Keeler lol
the perfect capture of an airheaded religious idiot for me, i guess maybe thats the point but idk
its spilling out of her
also lmaooo
Amon gets to do A LOT later, you just wait
He even agrees that Keeler needs to spread her faith by letting them leave
He's like "you must do it, but I can't permit it"
Yeah thats mostly as a callback to modern 40k where some Custodians just accepted Faith Powers have their uses from the masses and must let it happen even if they dont like it
you cant really stop people from worshipping stuff

People will worship a block of cheese under the right circumstances
Probably better than most stuff people are worshipping
||the italians won again||
buried dagger is KINO
the time of suffering is over
You always say this then hate the next book you read

🚬 i have faith the siege will be great
never thought id see someone who looked forward to deaths
besides a few characters
HH and Siege especially has a lot of good fodder character death.s
The cast is extremely bloated in terms of Chaos and Imperial characters
Watching the mournival die was 😌
THAT MUST HAVE SUCKED
one of the most horrifying things ive read in a warhammer book
i forgot lots of parts from Saturnine but that was just oof
Eh
Yeah wasnt asking you nerd
Trapped forever beneath the palace
shut up
They can just shoot them selves
Well
Not that bad
Suspended Memes

🚬 u need to wait for that
The early books are a little rough I’ll say
But midway it gets a lot better
After thinking about it, nothing hits better than a good death of a main/side/liked character
When Tobias Maxwell died in Eisenhorn
I cried
For some random rogue trader
🤔 any standouts?
||Aximands death|| will be in my best of dreams
like anything really bad?
I really didn’t like Mortis or Lost and the Damned
Saturine, and after Mortis are basically all great
i have an opinion that im unsure others would agree or disagree on, Eisenhorn fell out after fichigs death
Solar War and First Wall aren’t as good
But they’re not bad
Midway point is where it gets much higher quality though
the siege starts getting good… when everything becomes very sad
when the defenders start losing hope is when it gets good
the walls start falling like dominoes
The books were still good, he was probably hurt cause Fischig was there for a while
also theres something j was confused about
with the fourth book, Magos, i read the eisenhorn omnibus and it onky had 1 magos in the stiry
but online i saw that there were multiple stories about different kinds of magos’
its all part of his plan
chaos didnt lie to horus ascending to girlodhood was the only way the emperor thought of to fight chaos
dude horus’ story is actually immaculate
well
i want to mainly shine light on the beginning
during the Davin incident
both Magnus and Erebus coming to Horus in his dreams, disguising their true faces
🚬 poor magnus
personally, Magnus was in the right to warn his brother of Erebus’ treachery, but why he would ever decide to hide his identity from Horus is beyond my understanding
thats why Horus “denied” both of their proposals
i still dont fucking get why the emperor allowed magnus and his sons to leave terra
thers a lot of well explained and badly explained asspulls in the HH
"these people fucking explode if theyre too far away from me"
"NOW GO BACK TO PROSPERO"
"i really need this dude to sit on my chair or some shit"
"NOW GO BACK TO PROSPERO"
well.. he did come back to Terra.. sort of
He was busy on reddit shut up
I mean the webway
whoops
at the cost of many
same thing
LOL
erm the webway didnt want you to get access because uhh umm
vulkans story in Echoes of Eternity where he fights “Magnus” is great
ive yet to really read anything in Vulkans pov
vulkan just sort of said.. no
they say as they watch ||Vulkan get atomised, and instantly reknit his bones, sinew, and skin back over and over again||
Harleys are very neat
im doing eldar shit after the HH
space clowns in spaaaaace
good news
you'll only get to read like 4-5 good books
everything else is trash
😭
so should be a relatively short journey

Lemme know when you want some recommendations
anything about harlys doing random shit with zero explanation?
Uhhh okay so
i used to be a huge loyalist fanatic… before i read Night Lords and Word Bearers
based, my man
seriously tho the blacklibraries and laughing god subplots seem fire
Harlequin characters do appear in these as like side characters but they are very entertaining ones, they got some shorts/audio drama dedicated to them but no stand-alone book, i think you'll still enjoy it.
what was the reason behind the eldar plot in Forges of Mars?
random guess
shit i was gonna say that
oh right
evil box DO NOT OPEN
admech: MUST OPEN
^
"trust me guys i can totally control this giga-weapon of mass destruction im also very clinically sane"
hey my favorite characters was still the black templars reclusiarch ||pre sigismund-treatment|| and that evil magos
why cant they put the evil doohicky in the blacklibrary instead of leaving it on imperium worlds?
the ending plot twist with him was wild
the ribot
oh yeah muh tome of light
i dont think he ever pretended too hard to be anything but
what with his little brain jars
Nah, its just that those books dont relaly shed a light on anything related to chaos or its mysteries along with any arcane lore in the universe, those subjects/tomes are what the Black Library keeps.
ill never forget those evil chrome colored lenses tho
the book of Loregator and Magnusus is just them simping/teaching people how cool chaos is
Forges of Mars has so many good bits
the humor is nice
the series is extremely dated by our spectrum but its still really compliant
oh my fucking god everytime i try to google blacklibary
and the lead Magos had drip
LOL
he was never afraid to show off
write "lexicanum" at the end of it
and he basically had like a soul battle
with
the robot
the ending got a little hectic
yeah its 3 books worth of material
but thankfully the premise is simple "we must defeat the evil mcguffin with the power of friendship"
and, the fact any guardsmen survived when the Black templars didnt.. is shockingly guardsmen-like
that last stand is beautiful
while another copy is said to reside in the Black Library of Chaos.[2]
🚬 steve sands vindicated
and another resides in Trazyn The Infinites planet library thing!
muehehehe
i only get my lore from podcasts of 50 year old warhammer coaches you read books like a nerd
yeah because im based
we need to see a guardsmen story where the Ogryn is the bad guy all along
whats wrong with being a little informed
me @ Clad
best ogryn character ive seen is the one from Thraka…
didnt end well
** IGNORANCE IS VIRTUE **
if you think she is the best ogryn character
then oh boy
i must recommend you Warhammer Crime
keep telling the geriatric podcaster that
i need another Agusto novel
I will thank u
Read the Vorbis Conspiracy i assume?
Zidarov’s story is prob one of the best standalones id recommend to someone new to 40k.. it acts like a normal scifi crime novel.. but with 40k words
uhh
what
Okay so question
what Warhammer Crime books did you read
Warhammer Crime is an imprint of novels, short stories, and audio dramas by Black Library Publishing, featuring stories in the detective and crime genres.[1] It launched in 2020 with the release of Bloodlines and "Dredge Runners".[2]
i cant remember the name
bloodlines
yes-yes
nice book
quite small though
and ive read so many anthologies that ive probabky seen one or two of those a few years back
beats me
okay so
he appears again in the Vorbis Conspiracy which is an extremely good Crime anthology book
i THINK his one is like at the right end of the book as its ending story, the entire plot takes place around a voidship crash
and its effect across multiple stories, its very good
i will put that on my neverending backlog

its currently filled to the brim with heresy books
😭
SOMEONE RECOMMENDED IT
Lmaoooo yeah its good to know where the first 40k books started
they were like one of the FEW warhammer books to outright get deleted from the lore
It was little over the top with the mind r*pe
It gets even wackier believe me
I do
They called exterminatus on a planet to stop a creature
It knew and just disappeared into the warp
The planet still got exterminatused
Vault of Terra series good?
Book 3 flops most of the way but the first 2 books are really good
Id suggest reading all 3 still however personally
Yes
Will do

How do so many people end up reading the Ian Watson Warhammer books
it it from a YouTuber or something
I've never heard of him. Am I uncultured?
No not at all
It's just old as fuck stuff, never acknowledged by GW, not even particularly popular
TLDR: Ian Watson is a weird fetish author that has the honor of writing the first proper pair of 40k books, they are very interesting as much as they are bizarre.

Id also say they are popular to some extent, people just cant/dont want to read them since they are ancient, GW acknowledges they exist but they carry the honor of being one of the very few warhammer novels that have outright been labelled as "non-canon"
But I'm always seeing ppl being like "yeah I started reading this, not read many 40k books before, this is a bit weird isn't it??"
mostly because they werent what 40k was about at the time
As for "how" it simply just gets mentioned and people get curious.
I did watch an interview with Ian Watson by Jordan sorcery and I enjoyed it a lot, he's a character
Yeah hes very wacky but like not a bad person, just a weirdo lol
Yeah for sure
like he just wrote these books and then just went off back to doing his own shit, guy doesnt give a fuck
Absolute baller
So the Emperor having multiple personalities to help manage everything he does isn't canon?
very few things about the emperor's personality are canon
yes there is irony in the fact that the most important character in 40k has so little clear information about him
in Dark Imperium he speaks with a lot of voices before pulling himself together at least
Wrath and Glory humble bumble https://www.humblebundle.com/books/warhammer-40000-roleplay-wrath-glory-cubicle-7-books
malcador has been ||cloning the soul of an eldari guy into a human so he would have someone to swap 21st centry brainrot with since the emperor is busy||

He was lonely okay?
It was just never mentioned for awhile
they re-used it for when Guilliman meets with him again in Gathering Storm and there hes literally shattered personality wise so they re-used the idea
That describes 80 percent of this community. I am willing to bet that within the servers users alone, i'll find at least 1 person per mental affliction/medical prescription that there is (myself included).... 😬💀
Isnt his most human and compassionate shard still lost in the warp and Konstantin valdor is searching for it for some weird convoluted plotline GW has already forgot about in true alpha legion fashion?
It reminds me of that one meme where Guard players are either trans people, nazis or just normal folks which is so true it hurts me
We dont really know what the shard/where it is, Abnett just wrote it as it being flinged out into the unknown so it'll prob never get mentioned again.
Valdor's plot atm is unknown to us, just the resources hes using is kinda the most "clear" part, we gotta wait until Bequin 3 for it.
so its not forgotten, Abnett is just busy
Lol. I can imagine. Isnt there this one pretty infamous right wing jackass youtuber who is a hardcore guard player? Commissar something something, i forgot the name lol
Gamza LOL
Yeah he fell off hard, now all he does is clickbait "GW IS GONNA FAIL" vids, its very pathetic
Convoluted and intransparent as always. Gotta love it.
Yeha pretty much
Ah yes. That one.
He went off the deep end for sure
remember Abnett has like the highest lore authority on 40k stuff, guy can just do what he wants. But considering nothing groundbreaking on that side of the plot has happened in 40k its very safe to assume the events that happen in the 3rd final book will prob go nowhere
I hate when the occasional "There can't be female space marines" video pops up on my algorithm 🙄
Id like to be a fly on the wall when abnett and all the other writers of 40k have their mandatory yearly meetup with GW/BL middle management trying to unfuck all the intangled plotlines, plotholes and inconsistencies lmao
Yeah we *do *know they got like an actual "mother-book" for 40k lore which they go over when writing big important stuff so theres that at least
the issue is Abnett also just does whatever he wants
That entire debate has become so toxic that even i, who'd like to see space marines remain a male only faction stay away from it. It has moved past rational arguments and devolved into political browbeating and incoherent screeching and i already experience enough of that in real life politics, i dont need that Shit in my hobbysphere
Rule Britania, Britania rule the waves 🌊
Once I saw them devolve from "Custodes can't be female" to "Well the female custodes looks masculine" I knew I was dealing with children
this fandom is never worth it with that stuff
they see a black person on a book cover and go crazy

God what a day that must have been for Salamanders
Mood.
Honestly, keeping my bills paid and my body alive are way more important than these silly discussions. In the end, its just a hobby. If one wants to make a political point, go join a political party.
When SM2 was coming out people were also going "why is one of Titus' battle brothers asian"
like, my guy
😭
It can be hard to avoid politics when it comes to this genre tbf
^
its very much rampant
i just wanna enjoy new events but people complain about "women" or "this person isnt white"
its very tiring
Amen
I just do what you advised earlier: "do not recommend channel". Same reason i know longer watch "geeks and gamers". Too political, too much vitriol, too much negative energy. .
how can you tell someone is a warhammer fan from the crowd
Draw me a black sister of battle and show it at the crowd look for any violent reactions
Yeah, they bitch about that instead about complaining about legitimate things like the fucking lore inconsistencies, plot holes in novels or legitimate bad writing.... 🤦🏻
Woke 😭
I very much like Cavill but this actual cult the fanbase has around him actually unsettles and annoy sme lol
Never mind that the ultramarines recruit from the entire 500 worlds, meaning they are gonna be a super diverse faction. Politics aside, there isnt even a legitimate in Lore reason to complain.
^
People have such odd expectations of a literal normal person
Like yeah he’s famous and hot but like
I thankfully haven't seen them, but I hear the uproar plenty
People are weird
Like why do you think every single type of person in the universe looks like a white guy from connecticut
Like we have multiple groups of people here on earth and this is just a single planet what the hell do you think is gonna happen in a universe spanning empire
The best thing the can do is just act his movies and be silent otherwise. To say it with the words of Ricky gervais, No one Cares about your politics. Left or right. Fluff off and let me enjoy my hobby
