I haven't been this confused since I read some of the later witcher books out of order and I thought maybe the discontinuity might be intentional since the series starts getting into a lot of time travel later on š
speaking of which I should probably reread those now that they have actual english editions, the later books I read were somewhat dodgy fan translations from Polish lol
Hello
If I wanted to start reading books on W40k, what's the best starting point?
And are there series or just standalone books?
Check the pins, server members made a pretty good beginners guide.
Thereās plenty of stand-alone of stories for each faction. If youāre absolutely brand new Iād recommend steering away from the Horus Heresy series since itās like 54 books long lol.
Awesome, thank you
this
the first three horus heresy books contain a ton of lore that affects the whole setting
plus it's a good starting point for understanding how space marines think
my favs are 1-5, 7, 9, 12, 14, 18, 20 has a good ending, 24, 26, 39, 41 is aight. For Heresy series
Personally feel like youāre getting an incomplete story if you only read the first three in the HH. Theyāre great books but to a newcomer it would probably feel pretty daunting, especially trying to figure out where to go from there.
The Night Lords trilogy doesnāt need that much background info and is the standard for Space Marine stories. Helps that itās self contained as well (imo).
i dont think any book properly introduces you to the setting
you really have to watch videos if you know literally nothing
i say this as somebody who started reading when i knew nothing
i do miss not knowing exactly what every branded unit or vehicle looks like. it was fun to make stuff up in my head
The core rule book

I'm only half joking
but the 8e core rule book is a good intro
it is definitely the answer.
Thinking of picking up a 40k book and I have a question.
Iām interested in reading about the deathguard and am looking to pick up a copy of The Buried Dagger, but I know itās like the 51st book or something, do I have to read all 50 books to understand whatās going on or they all their own stories in a collection.
Like I want to pick and choose which legions/factions/stories I want to read about but I donāt want to not understand whatās going on
For 40k deathguard read lords of silence itās very good
I highly recommend it
The issue is finding a copy. Itās out of stock seemingly everywhere. And on eBay they only sell the limited edition copies for like $700+
Iāll probably just have to cave and read the E-book but call me old fashioned I still love getting physical books.
You donāt have to read the entirety of the Heresy but The Buried Dagger will be hella confusing for your first Death Guard book.
Iād recommend Mortarionās Primarch book and Lords of Silence to start off with. After that probably pick and choose what Death Guard stories from the HH youād be interested in picking up.
If youāre dead set on starting with The Buried Dagger make sure to read the short story Exocytosis by James Swallow. Itās a prequel to The Buried Dagger but still requires some basic understanding of the Heresy.
You also have to come to terms pretty fast that youāll never be able to get certain books physically without selling your soul to the Chaos Gods.
YES YES YES YES YES
my day is made
I've got 40 minutes left to finish it, will do it tomorrow I recon
Enjoy! I found it really good
Iāll get there eventually. Just started The First Wall and limiting SoT books to one a month for me.
Did get quite a few books this month from the audible sale tho.

Are there any good ork books besides brutal kunnin, warboss, Ghazghkull and the 3 gobbo books?
Helsreach kinda
Hey a question probably a bunch Made too , with what book could i start or if theres a tutorial or sum
We got some in the pins you can take a look there
or at worst ask the folks here for more guidance

Thank you , ā¤ļø
Is there more to the Yarrick omnibus? It seems like it ends on a really weird note
But I assume thatās to leave everything vague so they can still sell everything and have the current events remain the same
The gobbo books?
Depends on what factions youāre into
Or if you have no idea, plenty of people here can make recommendations
Gobbos are a fantasy term for Goblins
Its mostly because it is an omnibus aka a collection of other storyies.
Yeah I knew that
Ah that makes sense
Is it all the Yarrick stories?
Itās the closest I can get to more orks stuff
oh yeah Dilara i'm looking for Aos Orruk Books should i just read this without reading the rest
i'm not going to read horus heresy for fantasy no sir
so i can just pick up this book no problem then

Dang really? Thereās nothing on the third war for Armageddon?
I guess itās still going on
Oh yeah it is
just barely mentioned
the common and popular theory is we'll get something about them this edition as a Warzone supplement + a new Yarrick model
While technically not a book, has anyone written any more half decent gav and Bob stories?
Gav and Bob?
Itās a ogryn short story written by someone on 1d4chan, I forget by who
But I thought I had seen more people writing in its setting
I just like ogryns lol so Iāll take what I can get on them
https://youtu.be/aR9-HVlYfrk?si=JGoB09S04N8bINDb very popular videos by A Vox in the void
Beautifully written and well revered fan fiction from the Warhammer universe.
Who thought an Ogryn tale could be so touching?
Original version can be found here:
https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Gav_and_Bob
synopsis taken from 1d4chan : Gav and Bob originally started out as a POV story of Gav Smith, an Ogryn of the 25th Karanak Auxilia, along with h...
the one that a lot of ogryn mains absolutely adore
OH damn im uncultured
Nah just old
( i am now rapidly running away as we speak )
Listening to The End and the Death Volume 3 and as a TTS fan I can't help but smile at the Tarot dual.
Anyone got any good ogryn stories or anything, I just want more ogryn content
Audio Drama + Novel, both are very good.
No big events ,just two abhuman bros
Damn, if only I could get both as novels
yeah the audio drama is made to be basically a non-visual movie
the other is... well a novel lol
Is there an order?
also can I get the audiobook on mobile so I can listen to it while driving to work?
uh yea pretty sure its on audible?
which has an app
Audio drama is before the book
If you havenāt read it alreadyā¦
So after finishing the End and the Death part 3 last Sunday I've given myself some time to gather my thoughts on what I think about it... Overall I liked it and there was, I admit parts that I did not like. My personal rating is biased as I listen to the audio version and Jonathan Keeble gave an amazing performance, a solid 8/10. -2 points for the fact some of the plot lines endings felt... abrupt. Also it was never going to be 10/10 for me because Erebus was going to be marked as an essential NPC and was going to live through the Heresy... God I hope his time come sometime soon in the future.
Basically yeah its just a āgoodā book
I definitely think itās overrated though lol
does horus win
Iāll be frank, I donāt care much for this Horus Heresy guy.
Personally I'm not a horse person
the primarch called horus doesnt have an ancient egyptian themed chapter
ironically yeah the Sons of Horus/Luna Wolves are more european barbarians lol
In the epilog for End and the Death 3 and all I can think is *"FUCKING EREBUS"
Eresus vented Loken
"It's not your father's power, IT'S HOW HE STEALS IT!"
Honestly... Horus going full on schizophrenic and Jonathan Keeble giving an amazing delivery of his ramblings was great.
Keeble did such a good job with Horus
Should i read kingmaker or devastation of baal next
Kingmaker 100%
its a really fun book without anything too depressing as Assassins go on a gory violent adventure lol
Devastation of Baal meanwhile is about what you'd expected
DoB has a few neat moments but Kingmaker is better in every way
^
I appreciate that its just fun
It stays grimdark but its basically almost a Suicide Squad movie lol
not that goofy though, if that would turn anyone off from it
Yeah its fun in that James Gunn way
"And then the knights started going around the arena shooting convincted prisoners from their massive robots for sport."
Like that is a pretty violent but funny image lol
Rath is Wrathful
Kingmaker is solid, but a one off. Why they haven't set Rath loose to write and entire series is beyond me.
DoB is dummy important in lore, but a slog. Mephiston is Him though.
Mephiston unleashes his incel rage to blow up minds
I absolutely find it hilarious how for half the book he traps himself and all the other librarians of the Blood Angels in a bumfuck cave in the middle of nowhere
And its all his fault lol
Dude just felt silly.
Spent too much time talking him up, had to plot him out of the way. He gets justice afterwards though, he's on a scary level in his newer series.
Chaffney ā Today at 3:18 PM
The Threat of Rapture blog is relaunching with lots of book reviews of Black Library books. https://threatofrapture.substack.com/
I didn't like how they handled Loken at all...
It feels like it makes no sense with his character arc.
Its not him|| dieing that upsets me|| but how they did it
Trust me, it took a solid day of me malding to get over that bit. If I didn't remember a very specific part from part 2 I would still be tilted about how it came out of nowhere.
It also kinda urked me that instead of definitively answering if it was a Custodian, Guardsman, or normal Space Marine that stepped up to save Big E they just made it all three.
eh, it's done really well
its all true and none of it is true š
personally i like it when they make multiple things true or keep things vague
if you know everything theres no magic, and a lot of the mystery and eldritch horror has been completely deleted from 40k because we just know everything about everything
Fuck John Grammaticus. That is all.
yo guy i would like to start reading wr 40k where should i start?
There are some suggestions in the pinned comments
k thx
Theres gonna be a ork novel in commeragh
it might be good
It's very unlikely but is there a book and or novel that features the Exorcist Chapter?
Only one I know of is Headhunted, it's a shortstory about Deathwatch, one of it's members is from the Exorcists, Brother Darrion Rauth
After more than 60 Books spread out over 18 years the Horus Heresy series is finally over, so please be kind to the Warhammer 40,000 tragics in your life. https://t.co/HrfVOOKXkZ
e & d pt 3 and all I keep thinking about is the stupid pokemon card battle lol
What a weird ass post
Theyāre playing yugioh
The emp and horus basically playing cards for a decent bit of their fight incase ya didnt read/listen to the final book for the siege of terra
I read it on release day.
I know
OH WAIT I WASNT TALKING ABOUT YOU
I meant this lol
Necrons: Playing Pokemon
Emperor & Horus: Playing Yugioh
Now all we need is Tau and Mechanicus playing with Beyblades and Bakugans and it'll be every kid born in the 90's childhood.
Guys, need something new to read.
Read Gaunt's (my all time favourite) Eisenhorn's, a few Heresy's and short stories.
Looking for astra militarum books specially, so I was thinking about Ciaphas Cain.
And any other recomendations? Cain is more like a comical approach, right?
Fairly yeah. I've not read much guard stuff besides them and Gaunts so I don't have many recommendations besides them
Listened through Steeldread recently, it was alright
Honorguard had better tanker content though
Honoguard is awesome
Still have to read Bequin and Ravenor. Ended the Eisenhorn omni and forgot about the spin-offs
They're more so a continuation rather than a spin off tbh
And they are great as well
Only just the last Eisenhorn book takes place between Ravenor and Bequin series so that mixes it up a bit
Hmmm well yeah, makes sense. Will take a look on those too!
Highly recommend
Should I go with Ravenor or Bequin first?
Ravenor definitely
The series goes
Eisenhorn -> Ravenor -> Eisenhorn Magos -> Bequin
oh shit
Votann
I might have to catch up on this series
@tall phoenix
hopefully Nick can pull it off
Ah yes
the guy that has single-handedly ruined the Salamanders novel-wise as a Chapter
and one that even Sally fans hate, im sure he'll be just fine
People liked The Iron Kingdom right
@tall phoenix they delisted the new warhammer old world book from audible because the narrator was reading the deaf characterās portion with what could be chalked up to a bad Helen Keller impersonation
Lords of the lance

Starting 2024 off with a cancelled warhammer audiobook

Speaking of cancelled... I got my hands on Henry Zou's trilogy for cheap. Are those books an enjoyable read if you bar the whole plagiarism thing?
I'm starting to delve into old prints now... also managed to find a copy of the inquisition trilogy but i've heard thing about these books
They are an fun read imo
Its a great time capsule book before 40k was properly set in stone. One of the very few books BL ever retconned out of existence
I'd say read the book like you are watching a Kubrick movie
Random nonsense with sexual implications happens constantly as violence erupts at weird moments.
The grim darkness of the far future...
Really tho id say its definitely one of those books you should read just to say you did.
Its by no means boring but its wild lmao
You'll probably have an equal amount of "lmao" and "the fuck did I just read".
Is the Path of the Dark Eldar Omnibus any good? I'm looking to read more about the Drukhari but I don't think I've ever seen anyone talking about them.
Nice nice
Its a mid 2000's book and one of the only books they got but its a very fun read and gives a great look into their society
Has a lot of "fun" and evil asshole characters you'd like lol
Sounds perfect
Insanely good
best eldar books
Idk about you but Iād still listen to it. So used to Keeble doing every racial stereotype through the course of the Heresy that this sounds like a fun time.
Love the White Scars but I can never take them seriously when Keeble tries his best Mickey Rooney impression for ten hours straight.
LMFAO
In all fairness Keeble has gotten better but those early White Scars wereā¦yikesā¦
Pretty sure Scars was redone with a new narrator.
Havenāt heard it tho.
I liked John Banksā interpretation of the legion tho.
finally finished the final siege of terra book. Erebus is such a goober. Least it was kinda cool tho
Eresus stays winning.
Another Erebus sweep.
They deserve each other
EATING DUBS
FAMOUS JAMEIS
Is there book to teach Ogryn to read?
So Iām looking to get into the necromunda game the lore sounds awesome. I was wondering if there are books about the history of the necromunda planet? Iāve seen many books just having one off stories taking place in necromunda, I guess im wondering if thereās a series of books that follow a timeline?
The general history of Necromunda gets covered in the codexes of the game itself, each House book has a good mix of lore that goes into the background of the planet itself and its VERY in-depth, Necromunda is probably one of the most fleshed out planets in 40k due to it being a singular setting.
The books for Necromunda itself are here and there, most of them go back to the mid 2000's unfortunately before the game got properly updated with revamped lore for everyone.
is the kin being there a new thing or a retcon of squats being mentioned
Necromunda always had squats, it's not a retcon. They just weren't a proper faction.
so are kin part of squats or not
They are all the same race
"squat" is a slang term now
Kin/Votann is their proper name
Itās also a slur technically
To the Leagues of Votaan
The necromunda squats do not give a shit
sup my fellow twists
So besides warboss, brutal kunnin, prophet of the waaagh, the 3 gobbo books and da big dakka are there any other books from ork perspective?
Just finished Kingmaker, any recommendations for something similar?
I know the black library 2024 celebration has an Ork short story but that's it as far as I know
We got a new book with the same ork coming out in just a few days on the 24th
I considered the Gaunt's Ghosts Omnibus part 1, Eisenhorn Omnibus, Harrowmaster, Void King and the Night Lords omnibus
They arent really the same vibe
I know but I meant more overall what I'm considering
Kingmaker is a fun novel without too much grimdark themes aside from dark comedy/assassins going around being a discount suicide squad
which is a rare thing unfortunately
Tbh I think that it was especially good cause I read it after Infinite and The Divine
So now I'm looking for something maybe slightly more serious
Ah thats fair then yeah prob one of those will do you good
I'm leaning towards Ghosts cause I like the regiment but also I'm curious how much of it is actually the Ghosts doing recon, sniping, etc which is what I'm kinda looking for
Hell yeah.
Nothing really like it unfortunately
Which is a shame
I understood that reference
I just wanted sniping
Give me asome just targetting high-value targets
And I'll be happy
One of my favorite scens from Kingmaker is || When Raithe shoots Kraine after Sycorax gives him a line of sight on him ||
The banter between them and them just being actual characters is great
Yeah I did love that a lot
I loved the entire arc of Raithe learning how to work with a more flexible team
But tbh I was a bit confused by the ending
Kinda the same
From what I read on reddit essentially || Koln had to go rogue cause in the Vanus Temple having the ciphers decrypted can get you killed cause the whole temple is so steeped in secrecy and all that ||
Also I find it hilarioust there's a character called Drusus Mak
man wait till you meet Emil Darkhammer š
also yeah Koln was literally being Sombra throughout the entire book so i wanst surprised lmao
I do like how the entire book just has fun characters
Yeah
like it never wallows in misery while still acknowledging knight society is very grimdank
NAMING THE 3 DOGS š
Yarrick being the one thats the most suspicious was also great
I just love the entire cast
I do wish Raithe's shoulder would be a bit more expanded, even if it was given some light, but y'know
Yeah it was a fine side plot-point, not much you can do with a muscle injury
I wish maybe he ended up fumbling a shot cause of it or something, just show us the effects other than "he felt pain"
Yeee it was just the classic "character is injured in a way that hampers them but they overcome it"
Same here, tho Rath just finished Fall of Cadia recently which im currently also going through, id recommend that a read too
I'll look into it, thanks!
It felt lke he didn't really overcome it, though
At least to me it didn't
Yeah it was just "welp"
I did like how Sycorax helped with it, though
It was a nice moment of characterization
Also I LOVED the blurb that mentioned that Raithe hadn't slept for months
When I read that i was like "omg hes me"
It was so wholly unnecessary but it just did so much to flesh him out
He's so me
(I literally function off 4 hours of sleep most of the time)

but also yeah even with the shortcomings (like chaos knights appearing out of fucking nowhere) still fun book
you dont get simple novels like this in 40k so much anymore
Tbh
I got kinda lost in the tail end when Morvayne showed up
Cause Sycorax masked as Rakkan but Rakkan ran, etc
Yeah that might have been Rath mixing it up lmao
his fucking knight gets connected by 2 pilots constantly
especially when one ISNT even Rakkan
I actually REALLY liked that moment when Sycorax interrupted Jester's throne spirits
It was so cool so imagine
Also
Leviathan was so cool
Like
The reveal
Oh man you worried me thinking you were talking about that new shitty Ultramarine novel

also yeah before this I never knew ancestor-spirits in knights were THIS interactive
Me neither
It was so cool and surprising
OH ALSO
THE FUCKIN
CLIFFHANGER
When the bomb went off at the tournament from the Hinterlanders
With the cliffhanger of Raithe being held at gunpoint by Dask
I was genuinely at the edge of my seat
It was some good shit, really surprised how Rath has like 4-5 books and is hitting it out the park with each one
Yeah, Rath is so good

Rn I'm really considering the Gaunt's Ghosts omnibus but I'm still unsure
Its worth a read but uh its a long fucking ride ill tell you that much lol
I did consider Witchbringer or Outgunned since they seem similar to Kingmaker in a sense cause they delve into the life in the Guard like how Kingmaker did with a Knight World
yeah Gaunt's is also good but like i said you definitely need to devote more time to it.
the others are better for "welp thats that done, off to this next neat book"
I enjoyed Witchbringer it was fun
I gotta speed-read Cadia but I should give it a look
psyker books are like, basically non-existant lmao
Witchbringer was my first dive back into 40k books after not reading anything for years and it was good, nice look into the Guard and how they deal with Psykers
Plus the Main character Glavia is such a badass
Don't blow me up if you hate it
Tbh I'm a bit anxious about starting an Omnibus
I'm also still hoping that the Lazarus book is coming out soon
yeah Abnett has taken a looooooong break from it
Pretty sure you only get physical books from the Warhammer store
Yeah fair but it feels like whenever I use the warhammer store and look up 40k books I get like
60 results for some reason
Yea they basically only do limited runs for their books
So they'll only be printed and sold for a short while after they release and then they go out of print
But they'll often bring books back for another run later
They basically have too many books to have them all be in constant production
True
Maybe....
(I already listened to it on audible)
Fuck it.
Let's have Tzeentch decide
Whelp
Snipin' time
Just ordered it

Tbh it was less a matter of "if" and more a matter of "when"
I love the Ghosts
They're my favorite regiment of all time
uncultured
My 40k background and art books
I have a story in the End Times collection which I thoroughly enjoyed writing.
https://www.warhammer-community.com/2024/02/18/sunday-preview-the-dark-angels-prepare-to-mobilise/
@tall phoenix - features Valkia š
God bless š
Hey I was wondering what books to read if I want to know about the salamanders @ me pls
The HH books are pretty bad but people seem to enjoy the Tome of Fire series.
The Tome of Fire series are Black Library publications by Nick Kyme, featuring the Salamanders chapter of the Space Marines.
The first three novels and the short stories in Tome of Fire were later released in an omnibus edition. However, the Omnibus additionally collects Rite of Pain and The Cage instead of Emperor's Deliverance
Why Tig happy? Favorite lil un die but happy kill heretic? Ulgo sad for Tig
HH?
Thank you guys btw
Yeah my b. The Salamanders Horus Heresy books are considered some of the worst which is saying a lot.
So I was reading Gaunts Ghosts, and I started reading Gol Kolea in Goku's voice, due to his similar name and similar abandonment of offspring

Kids keep on losing
Parent abandoned you? Skill issue
Tig ā¤ļø
Who make sad?
Captain Kentucky wrote the Tig story!
Are the yvraine books any good?
I should read that one
Only 2 got made and they are a borefest and every Eldar fan hated them so no
Dang
go read something good like Valedor
I actually am rn
ULGO WANT WRITE STORY
What that mean?
Ulgo want to kill more heretic. FOR TIG
We haloposting?
Perhaps.
It broke my heart writing it because it was a semi-tribute to a very, very dear friend.
I just finished Lords of Silence and now I'm between starting Ciaphas Cain or keep on the heretic path and go with the Night Lords. I know they're completely different, but in general terms, which series is better overall? Maybe that's a pointless question since it's all personal tastes so... I will put it this way:
- If my favourite EVER is the Gaunt's Ghosts, will I enjoy Ciaphas, being this a more comical approach?
- If I enjoyed Lords Of Silence but I wouldn't say is a masterpiece, will I enjoy more the Night Lords?
Night Lords trilogy is like 10x better than Lords of Silence
Cain is good but wouldn't recommend going through all of it in a row
and I mean Lords of Silence is pretty good as well but NL is on a whole another level
personally I can't even recall any names from Lords of Silence but I remember almost every member in First Claw's tenth company
and it has been maybe a year since I listened to Lords of Silence and at least 4 since NL trilogy
Lords of Silence is good, I mean, I liked it and it's very interesting how they explain every detail on their diseases, physical changes, how they see other traitor legions, their faith (or lack of...), it is interesting but I didn't have one of those moments you say: "Oh... Woah" like I had with Gaunt's, Eisenhorn or even other standalone novels.
yeah it is interesting but the overall story doesn't do anything for me
Exactly, the overall story is just meh, nothing special
I guess that's just not happening on the Night Lords
I'm mostly looking for a solid story
yeah no, it has a definitive story with a ending you will want to see
You could always go the Fabius Bile route too. Thereās a pretty fun Death Guard apothecary in there.
And Ciaphas? I heard lot of good things about it and it may provide some good laughs but will it get old too fast maybe?
Hmmm true, Fabius is also on the table, forgot about it
Again Cain is very good, but it might get stale if you keep churning through all of them in a row. I like to drop one in between whenever I change from a story to another
I'm actually half way through the Bile trilogy at the moment. It has been decent
Can't remember much of the first book which I went through quite a while back now but the second one has been fine, a bit slow but it might pick up towards the end
Cain is definitely the weakest yeah
the series is good and praised because most people dont read the entire series
otherwise EVERY single book does the same element
If you want to dip your toes into Cain I recommend the anthology book. Has all his short stories and gives you a good idea of what youāre in store for.
(I do prefer Cain over Bile at the moment at least)
Itās like ten or twelve Cain short stories where he goes to do a thing. Thing goes terribly wrong and shenanigans ensue.
Check out this great listen on Audible.com. A Ciaphas Cain Anthology This audiobook brings together 13 uproarious short stories and one novella, focused on Ciaphas Cain, Hero of the Imperium. His stories are celebrated as heroic propaganda pieces, but heās simply trying to stay alive in a ho...
I think audible has it significantly marked down rn.
Cain is more so a legendary dude who's exploits you are listening to through an inquisitor lady, so each story is it's own little mission and/or mishap where somethings happen
I really liked the story where he teams up with a Ork.
not an overarching story in most cases
Theyāre definitely entertaining.
You should execute yourself
NOW
Sometimes itās okay to read something that isnāt entirely grimdark.
Me reading an ork book and watching orks laugh on someone getting decapitated
Thats me reading the End and the Death vol2
"omg nooo not sanguinius!"
me not giving a shit:

LMFAO
at the end, Sanguinius really was built like a twink, he sure did break like one
Did someone say twink?
spread those cheeks buddy
https://youtu.be/X4nj8OvrPE0?si=WqSiyo_RIG6GnIqA me seeing somehow that sang returned because people wanting him back
the face captain boomerang makes later in the game
I get a lot of mileage with this one tbh

Anyone know where i can order warhammer books in the eu (more specifically belgium) cus i tried searching for websites but they didn't work
amazon
Fellow Belgian here, you can order directly from the Warhammer website to your doorstep, Amazon (Nl, French and German ones as well as our own but jump between them to find the best price/availability) and bol.com if you're desperate since they sell at quite the upmark
Outside of that we have a Warhammer store in Gent that sometimes has books as well as De poort
alright
Trooper Cuu? More like "I'm imagining this is a repainted Majin Buu mini to go along with the Goku Gol Kolea"
Think it was on preorder this Saturday? So it would be out on next week's Saturday, 09.03.
Hope so
But does ufthak not keep that scavenged armor from the end of brutal kunnin anymore? Doesnt look like hes wearing it on the cover art
this is taking place in commorragh the dark eldar probably before turning him into their personal entertainment gladiator confiscated it
Ahhh i see
I think its already released
But itās only the hardback and ebook right now
Paperback will probably come later
Its out. Im reading it rn
About to start Night Lords today. Wish me luck, fellas
good luck but if you like it remember that they are still heretics š
Cain is the best 40k series fight me >:]
Thank you, I will, for I am just a humble servant of the Emperor
False gods is bad, right? It's not only me?
i think the very first three books in horus heresy are just fine
they do have some issues but that“s mostly because ain“t nobody known we needed hundred plus books to tell rest of the heresy
Its a solid 3/5
Its fine but just not interesting
False gods is a giant segway
Iām gonna paint my device red do I can read it FASTER!
Honestly preferred False Gods over Galaxy in Flames.
Was pretty disappointed in that one. False Gods felt like a cheesy b movie at times so I found it entertaining. Galaxy doesnāt feel like it concludes anything since we know 50 other books come right after it.
All i remember from false gods was horus having an acid trip from the anathema and waking up to heresy
Hes a little memer like that
Felt a little silly.
Horus is basically just a generic bad guy
so i didnt care about it too much
hes one dimensional and thats his purpose
GW said: Stab him with the corrupted blade so he can turn chaos.
Horus: Must kill the Emperor
They tried adding more to his character in later books but I still canāt sympathize with Horus. Dude just comes across as a narcissist with a big ego and you can only blame the anathame so much for his treachery.
On the flip side, I do like Abaddon.
you must be the only one liking him
horus could“ve used some more character building for sure
not particularly impressed with how he fell
Heās pretty likable in the Black Legion books.
Anything else? Eh itās a mixed bag but thatās just BL books in general.
Its a common trend across the horus heresy books where the traitor primarchs feel forced into corruption or putting themselves in a dumb corner
But hey thats how chaos corruption works i guess
Not much different with how dumb wow lore is about fel corruption
Your iq just plummets
^
Way too many ass-kiss these books about being deep
"Oh it makes sense that the traitors are just mindless sociopaths"
yeah cool but I also don't want to read about loyalists doing generic heroic shit every chapter

COUGH Mortarion COUGH
Canāt wait to read ten books on the Iron Cage just to see Perty go back on his morals to go full Demon Primarch.
There's always the non-Primarch traitors who run towards Chaos gleefully screeching and hugging it as though it's an old friend.
I'm looking at you, Huron Blackheart.
You literally wrote some books for the guy tho!
No angst or drama for Lugft Huron. Heck, no, gimme all the Chaos. Numnumnum
the only book I liked horus in is the first book of the horus heresy
I think there is some interesting character stuff there where hes considering...
is it really ethical to genocide the entire galaxy?
and thats the seed that leads him down the path of damnation
but then he does just become a generic bad guy
FATHER, YOU HAVE DONE BAD THINGS. THEREFORE I MUST STEP ON ONE THOUSAND BABIES, ITS THE ONLY LOGICAL RESPONSE TO THIS SITUATION.
FATHER
YOUR SON HAS RETURNED
I BRING THE DESTRUCTION OF OLYMPUS
I mean uh the Imperium idk
xD
i saw that video too
IM JOHNNN GRAMMMMMMAAAAAAAATICUSSSSSSSSS
if you ever need any help, just rely on me, JEEEHN GRAMAAATICUSSS
Emperor: I'd rather not...
Donāt you dare slander the best warhammer character! John Grammatichad is super cool and sexy and all the ladies love him + the Emperor is his best friend!
horus' entire character is malding over not being the main character of 40k
or maybe he was just mad about the emperors beautiful hair
I love me some Abaddon, during the Heresy and after
Came on Sunday
woah
where dominique?
Hes literally right there
Is the gaunts ghosts: the founding, omnibus a good book to start on?
okay welp. Ive been reading it and its kinda frustrating how it constantly jumps between past and future. It feels very frustrating how you reach a part that is just getting interesting only to have it skip back in time.
Also i didnt mean "start on" as in getting to know the universe, just to start on an interesting setting i guess.
Ive also heard that it picks up at necropolis
Well I don't think there's any other spot to start on Gaunt's Ghosts, but the time-skipping can be a bit annoying sometimes for sure.
Ghostmaker is also much more a collection of shorter stories before it becomes one continuous-ish plotline from Necropolis onward
Cain is a good starting point but its tone is very different from the rest of 40k
if you are just looking for a good book you can read
ive been reading gaunts ghosts, and dont worry, that disappears by the second or third book
ive just finished straight silver
its really good, just note that some of the finer details of lore may be a bit inconsistent with what's established due to the age of some of the books
Hmmm, judging by the fact that there is a book after this one, something tells me Gotrek will not find his doom in this book
Kinda funny now that Iām thinking about it
- Trollslayer by William King (August 1999)
- Skavenslayer by William King (September 1999)
- Daemonslayer by William King (October 1999)
- Dragonslayer by William King (September 2000)
- Beastslayer by William King (February 2001)
- Vampireslayer by William King (September 2001)
- Giantslayer by William King (April 2003)
- Orcslayer by Nathan Long (October 2006)
- Manslayer by Nathan Long (October 2007)
- Elfslayer by Nathan Long (October 2008)

- The Serpent Queen by Josh Reynolds (April 2014)
- Kinslayer by David Guymer (September 2014)
- Slayer by David Guymer (May 2015)
Perhaps...
You're missing
Ghoulslayer, Gitslayer, Soulslayer, Blightslayer and Realmslayer

I'm glad Gotrek is so bad at dying because that means we get more of the books for the best fantasy series that Warhammer has
(I say this only three books in)
Can't wait for Stairslayer where he falls and bonks his head on a step and dies from the mega-bonk damage.
I thought I saw 'girthslayer' and was suddenly very interested
Felix having the Rizz to attract an undead woman is crazy
he was one of the few that Gotrek was like
"OK Felix you're going to marry her and if you say anything against it I will break your legs and force you to kiss her"
bro is just that guy
facts

What book have Nork Dennog in it?
I do really like how Gotrek and Felix started as uneasy associates and became really good friends
And Felix, while not being HIM he is still quite built different
Huh? Ulgo interested
Look up Trollslayer by William King. Itās the start of their adventures
Ok thank you little one!
Ulgo want ogryn book
Ogryn and Ratling are trying to get rich by finding a eldar relic
Theyāre a fun duo
Have some existing short stories and an audio novel
Oohh... there Ogryn in militarum in other story? Ulgo get book but want to know
They arenāt in the militarum
I donāt think thereās an ogryn book with an ogryn in the guard
If thatās what youāre asking
They are deserters.
^
Would make lotsa money. Ulgo buy 3 copies
Ogryn sometime make Ulgo sad. Tig is sad story. Gav and Bob too... Ogg too
Ulgo sad Tig dead. But Tig sitting at Emperor lunch table!
Wrong server
Huh?

I posted a meme about a warhammer model being old as shit
The thing is older then me by 10 years give or take
Dang it's a 20 year old mini?
30
Today is their 30th anniversary
The warp spiders deserve a medal or something f for this
No he only makes the greatest of plans
Call them that again and i will break your knee caps
any good books about the guard fighting the tyranids? they seem kinda interesting and id like to read up on what its like fighting the bugeyes
or tyranids vs anyone i suppose, not the guard necessarily

I will literally sacrifice a goat to get GW to have a book about the tyranid invasion of iyanden
Depressing enough š
Spoilers
Oh(?)
It's like, the last hunt, or something
||Uhhh basically theres a time paradox where the White Scar in the cover gets split up in reality due to time travel and one part of him is in realspace leading the Chapter and the other is in the webway searching for the Khan, hence the Last Hunt||
you cant make this shit up
lmao
||Ew timey whimey shit||
||THE CHAPTER MASTER?!?!!||
I went back in time and brushed a chair
Came back to a reality where Dilara wasn't DT server mod
Immediately ran back and shot my past self before I did it

LMFAO

I hate 40k lore
NO BUT LIKE
ıts actually a really good book
its just that that plotline is fucking dumb
Lmao
Also people with homebrew space marine chapters, how do you just not hate your chapter after writing it. Every time I wrote a chapter Iām like āhey this is kinda boring-ā
And then start over
Thats literally any sort of creation someone makes
you will hate it but people will love it
we are our own worst critic
Fr
Iām happy I like my storm cast tho
That was pure Luck I like them
Maybe because they are linked to my city
š
Cities of sigmar on their way to send another crusade out (the last one got eaten alive)
LMAO
ITS LITERALLY CANON
That's the neat part
I hate everything I make and myself
The cities just fine out one of their crusades died horrifically
And just go fuck it
Gather up more people for another one
Thatās literally the plot of the dominion book
I know
Itās great
Not me, I love all my little dudes
~~ just like in real life~~
does being someone who is just insane as joker and having a death wish count
My storm casts are basically God Cops and think humans are too weak to manage the law of sigmar
Why become one when you can be both
Simple, sweet, a lot of conflict
Also āsame allianceā lmao
ohh yeah did you paint your Ushoran yet
Paint?
yeah people that think the "Good Guys" in AoS are all goody-two-shoes really got no idea š
yeah
Literally every alliance means jack shit except stormcasts and cities
bro they have dark eldar
Order is like genuinely batshit insane
But thereās been enough purges of excelsis to say otherwise
There is not a single order faction Iād call mentally well
I donāt really paint much
At least in WHF
then did you already assemble him?
You could reason the empire and Bretonnia were somewhat sane
I just build, but Iāve not built him either
So it works out
ah i see
Tbf if they donāt get along theyāll annoy nagash
Lmao
"Hey Morathi, do anything fun recently?"
"I conquered my ally's city, betrayed my god and took his power, and undid the millennia of work we did to imprison one of the Dark gods"
Oh yeah ossiarch fucking hate soul blight and flesh eaters TBH
Iām not suprised
Soulblight dislike fec and hate ossiarch
I mean they are a group of perfect bone killing machines next to zombies and vampires that think they are better than everyone else of course they would be pissed
My literary creations are perfect, my artistic abilities to make them reality however are lacking
And night haunt hate everything
I do find it intresting how the soulblight are 2 factions in one
Meanwhile FEC
Both the deathrattle kingdoms and vampires
Arent they more like 4+
With the different vampire factions
The empire area vampire factions were all one in fantasy
Are they that seperate lore wise in AoS?
Iām not familiar
I believe so
Iām aware
Neferata has her own thing, beefing with Mannfred
I know about AoS 1e
Then they split it into the death
And the legions of nagash
But they couldnāt finish skeleton horde
Lauka and the wolf people from cursed city have their own things
Skeleton horde was its own faction
So skeleton horde got folded in
So they put it in soulblgiht
Yeah
And turned out zombies and skeletons worked really well
So they kept it
Yee
Basically a vampire goes over to a skeleton kingdom and pays the necromancer for the army
Or the necromancer is already working for the vampire
Except in the legion of night
Where necromancer are top dog
Arenāt there also some skeleton kingdoms that are independent
Yea
Usually if the necromancer dies or just fucks off
Or if thereās so much death
Yup
Thereās sentient skeletons in cities lore actually
In fucking uhh
Whatās that city called
They have a god and everything
For undead who refused to work for Nagash
the villagers are just chill with it?
Yea
The one in death?
Yea
so i can look like a freak in AOS and people would just be chill
Yup
To be fair the city is literally around due to pure luck
It just happened their garbage scam amulets work
And they spin the giant futurama wheel to power the city
Lethis also has the funny drug water
so mags how unusual is it for an Orruk to work as a mercenary
Peace water or whatever itās called
Not super unusual
Orrukās arenāt kill on sight in AoS unless theyāre in a massive warband
Not rare
Orruks use to be in order lore wise
In hammer and bolter there was literally a storm cast that like went into the camp diddly do
Basically gorkamorka and sigmar had a deal to kill the god beats
And then gorkamorka eventually said ācringeā
You look at that another idea just landed on my brain
And then the age of myth happened
And as said in the ogres codex
āThe ogres rejoiced as they can be called man eaters againā
Based and food pilled
And then all of destruction started from one side of the realms and in a straight line murdered everything
but they are still allowed to work as mercenaries yeah
And then upon reaching the end of the known world
They turned around
And did it again
I love it
So much
Also itās very customizable
My city is basically the biggest ghur haters and believe they are the peak of civilization
This is the one that also lives in Ghur
They love
engineering
wind turbines (wind harvesters)
tourism
Yup
Is warhammer fantasy not as xenophobic as 40k?
You're telling me they just set up that city there to spite Ghur
Yup
Way less
Oh this is the book chat whoops
The three core not evil fantasy races in WHF got along decently well
Dark elves would work with humans and dwarves in a single war effort more commonly
No worries I'm sure the mods wouldn't immediately eviscerate us
High elves and humans were great friends historically. Same with dwarfs and humans
High elves and dwarfs didnāt get along because dark elf false flag
Probably the evilest faction
Teclisās facist experiment because free will is too much to deal with
LMAO
Teclis speed running
AM I WRONG?
This was after he threw his children in the trash too
Teclis literally went off the deep end
Free Will is great, everyone deserves it ā>
God fucking dammit theyāre killing each other again
ā-> fuck it no one gets free will anymore itās time for a police state
Funny how of the new elven gods literally only Maliketh, and Tyrion(sorta) didnāt go off the deep end
Literally the lumineth make servitors
Phrasing man phrasing, you're making warhammer leaders think like they're real world leaders look ohh wait
Also the Sylvaneth are hilariously evil too
Some order factions are more evil than some chaos factions
do they turn people into trees and piss on them
No
No they just skin children alive
Much better
Wandererās and Kuronathi as well
Are tolerated by most sylvaneth
High Elves
Are bad
So is the wooden ones
What About Aquaman
And make sure to torture them extra hard
The deep kin or whatever their name is
Also you literally canāt take Sylvaneth in grey water fastness lmao
The deepkin are evil because theyāre slavers
ok is that it
A slave in deep kin is basically like, a lower middle class citizen in cities I believe
Pretty much
They just do politics for fun tbh
They sound better than the dark elves the high elves and the wood elves
Like the point of the blind king book is
āNone of this politics matterā
Which feels absurd for me to call not super evil
Holy **** I did not know they are that better compared to the other three in order
But compared to what the sylvaneth and Lumineth do
The main character is clearly worse leader then the antagonist
Theyāre pretty benign
But he doenst care
Also thereās the daughters of khaine
He feels cheated and thinks he should lead
Eugenics!
Yeah
But besides that theyāre in most cities of order
And theyāre currently in a religious schism
Are they?
Bcs morathi
The major cities at least
They offer entertainment
Of the more uh violent kind
Theyāre in the one in azyr iirc
this sounds like that one circus in bg3 with the bloodthirsty red caps running around the place as helpers for some reason
lol
I wonder why
Of course Morathi Fucked something over
Thereās also Maliketh Malerionās shadow elf things
Literally and figuratively
But we donāt know what theyāre up to
I wanna see a new city of sigmar gargant kitbash bth
Would be cool
Like in the armor
Malerions shadow elfs are prolly the next elf faction tbh
I want dwarfs to get another one
Don't sigmar have Gargants that guard Azyr
They will probably be a prong of DoK
Which is good
Every faction has gargants
Even idoneth
Somehow
i mean Kraken eaters are a thing
HUH?!
Kraken-eater mega gargants
you know the ones that live near the sea and basically hunt there
