some people on the steam forums should be turned into servitors tbh
Does he have a reason for his worry?

Guys after seeing the gameplay trailer i really feel like it's going to be very different from vermintide 2, it looks like they focused on the objectives to be achieved during the games. On vermintide 2 the gameplay is simple and we like, you just have your sword and your ranged weapon, some simple objectives, hordes of scripted enemies and othe...
these people are ballin
yep
Why shouldn't games be casual? Isn't that the point of games? To be fun and non stressful?
wut r u, casul?
Of course it’s going to be different you wanker. It’s 40k! Not Warhammer Fantasy.
And if the game is more focused on completing objectives? GOOD.
I don't play video games to stress out and feel like work
^
Literally if I wanted to do nothing but shoot shit I'd go play Killing Floor
I'm still trying to figure out how he brought up destiny and compared it to this
And i bet people can make private games. problem solved, lol
Objective are interesting
Everyone knows warhammer games are only for hardcore gamers
I would post two more links, but posting a guy rambling about wanting to see bolters and how bolters are vital to Darktide, or a dude writing half a page of why space marine should be a playable character is unoriginal
Where it says “how was the Chaos Ogryn cut in two by a hammer?” Just kills me. It’s a game! What do you expect for it to make sense?
Agreed. It's suppose to be fun
every interaction of the lore wasnt cited in the description
funny thing is, in reality it told us that the big enemies can end up dismembered
Games porkchop
The fact that I can't just run trough the enemy as Cato Sicarious is actually a hate crime by Fatshark
Lore mfs having a mental breakdown when their plasma pistol doesn't one shot ff'd ogryn teammate
Which is always satisfying to disembowel a really annoying boss.
NOOOOOOOOO
😭
yesss
what's that gif
I should be able to load the game in vr to torture guardsmen to unlock the drukhari skin
of a guy just twitching and writing something into a book
that's how I picture these people
thats goin in THA BOOK
FUNNY DWARF BOOK MEME
FUNNY
Fucking "going to the book" is on the same level as "Charge ork terminator with shovel as krieg"
idk i like the book meme because I like dwarves
Let people have fun with dead memes
I do
i also dont interact with the warhammer community outside of my partner
I just complain about them
and here
I also say "Cadia stands" for shit and giggles.
This is the only place I got.
cadia shidded before the guard farded
Canadia stands
fuck I spit my water
why did I laugh at that
brainworms
cadia SNEEDS
my brain is rotting
That’s what this place does.
nurgle much?
yes with just a smudge of tzeentch

embrace sexy femboys of all factions
No
khron
Khorne bloodplay
Me and my bud Slasher enjoy a lot of minis and factions. But it is fun to be overly Imperium loyal "in character"
But some people don't get that
Because there are some people
who take it that serious
shame
Don't be that guy
"NOOOOOOOOO, how dare YOU like another factioN!!11111"
Yeah the larping can be fun and funny
Especially when it’s perfectly timed
But theres people who unironically post ||blessed is the mind too small for doubt||
Larping can be fun as long as the other person is into it, otherwise you look like a bit of a prick
god, stop
i know people like that
sadly
Shovel book pox webway emprah
Space book says this is bad
And the amount. Like one Cadia Stands and shovel meme a day is enough for me.
Burn the book!
D:
Yeah there it is
Heresy noises intensifying
I just assumed that Ultramarines are the least liked Marines chapters within the guard fandom due to their apparent "boy scout" reputation.
That’s part of it, but yah.
But if a Guard stan were isekai'd into being a Space Marine, I guess being in the Marines Malevolent would be their worst nightmare, since that's a loyalist chapter that has a very piss-poor regard for friendly fire that isn't another Space Marine
So imagine them being forced to watch their own battle brothers throw a grenade at a guard squad just cuz it happened to be where a swarm of gaunts were headed to
I like me my Smurfs, my Orks, my guard and Tau

2 because they are ugly bastards and I love em
2nd one is a close second though
if 2 had the silly mask then he'd might win but alas he doesn't
Flew too close to the sun
now we're talking
4
I would say 4 with 3 at a close 2nd for me
i like number 3, but 4 is a close 2nd
they dont look like SS officers so unfortunately I dont think it will appeal to most
3 looks the most grounded, I think. IV looks like the kind of people the Inquisition calls if they think they need a small army to kill you
2
2 and 4
mostly 3 but is also good 4
good old classic 3.
3, but 4 close behind

plotting, scheming, typical shit for someone like Belakor
I know he's tried to get Ahriman sign a deal to pledge his soul to Belakor, only for Ahriman to UNO reverse him. I think he also has something to do with Abaddon's sword.
ahriman :)
Agreed
Wait what about uno reversing him?
Ahriman envoked Belakor's name and forced him to make a deal with him in return he would release Belakor from his control.
not all the time. he sometimes dunks on non-chaos forces
I know he's dunked on the Relictors before they got excommunicated by the Imperium
Poorly shopped.
Its trans human i think in the OG shop but yea it will still sound liek t rans marines lmao
funi typo
lmao nice
Does anyone know if Ogryns are more resilient to disease than average humans or nah?
Id imagine so
They seem to be more robust in general
Thats what Im thinking
Because the Ogryns we see normally dont seem to be touched much by Nurglite diseases all that much
They seem pretty normal
There are Plague Ogryn
The big bastard at the end of yesterday's trailer is a Plague Ogryn
Oh I know that
He's the exception to that observation
But for the others, they seem to be fairly normal
In the interview today the dev being interviewed said that female ogryn wouldn't be an option because of lore, but there are 100% female ogryns, I remember one flirting with a guardsman in one book. Are they rare and or not fighters? Seems a bit of a strange reason considering they exist if not
Because of lore?
Someone isnt reading books it seems

Are you sure they said it was for lore reasons?

I didnt remember it off the top fo my head so I googled it and found this one as well

Ok, figured it'd be in a Ciaphas Cain novel. ^^
It's weird saying no female ogryns because of lore. From what I understand, Ogryns are abhumans who mutated this way because of the gravity of their planet. But I'm guessing they still have to reproduce. They're not spontaneously spawning there.
I guess they were meaning that in the sense that they're rarely represented in lore and on the tabletop.
Yeah its mostly just "we havent ever seen one" more than anything
its just a shame, esp with tabletop. Like just slap a different head on a model and boom, female ogryn, yknow? And with how much they were talking about their character customization, I had hope. Lore seems a flimsy reason but hey its done
The lore isn't even a reason though since they DO exist
i guess it was just the dev half-assing it
or just wasn't aware but as Le0 says, common sense would indicate that even abhumans need to reproduce lol
Yes, I was expecting to see female Ogryns from the start too but who knows, maybe we can still get them later!
Thats true, fatshark tends to be pretty in touch with their community. Many things the community hard asked for got added eventually, especially with cosmetics and classes
Yeee we'll see
except Saltzspyre's steam engine that is.
So meltaguns aren't just big lasguns when you look into it, right?
Yeah
Lasguns use a simple energy cell that concentrate energy into a lense
A meltagun is hydrogen particules kicked to fusion levels by a small reactor and shot as a ray towards the enemy
One is hot enough to explode an arm, the other hot enough to explode a tank
Humongus brain moment
Roger roger, ty :3
No problem, glad I could answer you
My 40k knowledge tends to be approximative, since I don't have the mental resilience to slug through all the bad books that keep changing the bloated lore of 40k.
They’re basically massive arc welders in gun form
Well assuming. They have ‘melta cutters’ which appear to fiction just like irl arc cutters. So it seems to be the same thing scaled up.
The Lead Designer said in yesterdays Darktide showcase there are "no female Ogryns cause lore", so does that mean Ogryns are created? like test tube babies?
They are mutants so no
female ogryns exist in lore
they are just normal humans affected by planetary conditions that the imperium tolerates/uses for military and industrial purposes
I'm just wondering why we wound not have female ogryns in the hive city
Theres no reason really
just less modelling i suppose

either way yeah they exist in lore, guess the dev just got it wrong
context 4:10
They do but got no art or mini representation
no official ones
Yeeeeeeeee
because, well GW isn't tasteful about those things
Looking at the female ogres from Bloodbowl
I think the biggest deciding factor is that there isn't any official references for female ogryn designs
You really dont need any tbh
You do for the 40k crowd lul
no you dont lmao
"Ah yes I need a perfect visual representation for what a woman with gigantism looks like for a toy game"
regardless i respect their decision not to add in some ugly berthas no one would play because they aren't their model beauties and would be a waste of resources better spent elsewhere
besides memers
Memers will meme anything
especially 40k fans
also the ingame models and faces already look ugly as hell so
makes no difference either way
wait a second is your icon dilara from that one post about dwarves being designed in a sexest way?
YEP
and people fixed it
just added it to a votann head
nice
bows
oh yea theres that return to mines of moria game they announced
where you play as dwarves
in moria
DRG but medieval lets gooo

im honestly sick of exclusive stuff on pc of all places
same
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5JDB_fU1xno the trailer looks good too
Check out the announcement trailer for The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria, the upcoming survival crafting game set in the Fourth Age of Middle-earth, the fantasy world created by J.R.R. Tolkien. The game is coming to PC via the Epic Games Store in spring 2023.
Summoned to the Misty Mountains by Lord Gimli Lockbearer, players take control ...
agreed
I just remembered, you're right, we got lady goliaths
"Quote i made up because i think i'm intelligent"
wat?
It could be related to the fluff for these particular ogryns
It's actually stated in wrath and glory that some ogryns are vat grown to produce them en masse
So it's possible that all the ones on Atoma Prime are vat grown males?
From Ogryn species backgrounds
Cloned: You are a vat-grown replicae, created to serve the Imperium. Your conscious life may have only begun very recently, and you are eager to fulfill your purpose.
Still like how there was a female Ogryn psyker in Thraka's book.
Ya
What does a female ogryn look like anyhow?
I can only imagine them as just ogryn with no facial hair and maybe breasts
they have beards you see 😏
Oh sick
I just imagine they look just like regular ogryn
And now what ever the fuck deviant art does
Man an ogryn Psyker tho. That would be super cool on table top
An ogryn with more female features really
Ye
Yeah its juuuuuuust feminine enough without losing the gigantism look
a lot of other female ogryn art makes them just look like a normal run of the mill resized woman
Yeah exactly and I hate it
Also I’ve seen some super fetish stuff too
Hey is there anything stopping sisters from wearing beaky marine helmets or regular space marine helmets?
Thats any female in 40k tbh
Yes
They are marine gear.
And thats simply it.
That and they'd be a lot more big proportion wise

Ah, even beaky? I would think since it’s older it would work
Sadly 40k was and is still populated by a decent bunch of the players that are weird / old hobbyists and carry all of the boomer geek sterotypes
;~;
Yeah
AoS managed to shake those people away, but 40k can't
Those players ruined Slaanesh in general
The reaction to Ursula Creed's mini says it all
AHAAHAHA OH YEA THAT WAS FUCKING HILARIOUS
Ursula is great but people will cry about everything
I know some people were pissed that nude fetish repenta sisters were gone
Which I’m super glad they are gone
zealot repentia pls
awful
HIRE FANS
Do you ever wonder how much duct tape the AdMech uses?
the answer to that question is never enough
the reason things are falling apart and going to shit is for the simple fact that not enough wd-40 and duct tape is being used.
Uh dilara, what ruckus did I miss with Ursula creed? Or, is it evenworth talking about it?
There were some good memes
Female
Insant screeching
kek
So the usual
Like most advanced tech, wd 40 and duct tape have been lost to the passage of time.
Only thing that I really would criticise is, there is too much stuff going on on that mini, like she really needs some genestealer dna with all her stuff. But that's just typical "important characters show their whole inventory like they are karl urban in Thor Ragnarök"
Ah, explains it. Good that I completely left/ignored these social networks
the golden throne would not be in such disrepair if they were still around. Truly 40k is set in the darkest timeline.
Ursula has her hands full so she simply has no room to give a single fuck.
Ursula be like
and not fitting into the ULTIMATE WAIFU body type
I was hoping for, like, a Hildryn body type for the female ogryns but eh, we get what we get
Thicc
Time to read as i fall asleep
For those wondering, she's from Warframe
Nothing like a woman with an EIGHTEEN PACK OF ABS
once you start stacking abs you cant stop
No joke, when she dropped I just straight up bought her. Best fucking frame if you ask me
I play every few months,
Listen
what, theyre much worse
Yes, they are skin puppets
yknow, that moment youre trapped, concious in your own body
covered in body-bending chitin and skin cells
that reshape your very veins to align with the design
oh and some demon space kid controls you from 200.000 miles away
Look, they are like organic robots
Hey we dont have many big options for pure robot people to waifu/husbandofy
weren't the early warframes like Umbra made by reformatting humans/orokin's
Warframe’s lore keeps on growing and it’s outstandingly good.
The Angels of the Zariman expansion just added a whole load more to it

Yes
Uhh tldr normal frames are pretty much trapped in their own mind and cant do anyrhing but follow command
But those with the umbra variant of infestation are bound by their strongest memory
They cant strike down orokin due to the inhibitors
Love the lore of warframe. But it makes me ask after watching it: Is Dune maybe influenced by Warframe?
PLEASE, STOP
Only problem with warframe is the time consuming aspect and the abyss it always drags you down

Warframes lore is stuck looping about stuff that doesnt matter because they cucked themselves with framing the void
The second they put out their mediocre void writing, they'll lose their momentum
I'll try
Still the background with the orokin empire, the zariman 10-0 and such is neat
Also love scavange fest of the smaller factions after it broke down, reminds me a bit of the downfall of Rome and such
And artstyle is just neat
I guess ill look it up to be disappointed again
That's why taste is luckily a very subjective thing. Or else we would probably all be space marine fans
Hah true
As a cosmic horror fan, warframe just feels too pulp for me
Especially with all the retconned lore subverted for the boring foundation
the only problem with warframe is the horrid progression system
And the community, and the damage system, and the exploitative shop
them too but that doesnt really matter as you cant really get past the first few "quests" in the game lol
the NPE in warframe is horrid
literally worst i have ever seen
the theory is that the wolves on fenris where once human colonists that turned themselves into wolves to survive the harsh world iirc
its not wolves its the space marines becoming furries
1 sec
hell arent stormwolves almost as smart as people?
WARNING, TEXT DUMP
Throughout the Horus Heresy novels "Prospero Burns" by Dan Abnett and "A Thousand Sons" by Graham McNeill, the phrase, "There are no wolves on Fenris," is mentioned. There are cryptic references by none other than the Thousand Sons Primarch Magnus the Red as to the unique nature of the genetics on the world of Fenris and the Canis Helix sequence of genes within the Space Wolves' gene-seed. It has already been mentioned in various sources of official canon that the Canis Helix is responsible for the peculiar lupine traits possessed by the Astartes of the Space Wolves Chapter. It is also hinted that perhaps the Fenrisian Wolves are actually Astartes whose genetic alteration has spiraled out of control, reshaping them into bestial creatures. This would explain how and why these supposed "wolves" fight alongside the Space Wolves in battle and readily obey their Astartes masters in the heat of battle, perhaps retaining some fragment of their former lives and sense of duty.
But this does not explain how "wolves" have existed on Fenris since before the first Space Marines of the VI Legion came to Fenris. It is generally known that during this earlier age when Mankind colonised the galaxy that humanity possessed advanced genetic engineering technology. For those early settlers that colonised the inhospitable, icy Death World of Fenris, they may have attempted to find a way to adapt themselves to the harsh environments of their new homeworld, splicing their DNA through gene-manipulation with that of Terran wolves that were more suited to the arctic conditions and climatic extremes. One could extrapolate that this would have provided the Fenrisian colonists with a fighting chance at surviving this hellish environment. In some cases this manipulation must have had unforeseen consequences.
Perhaps the first generation of "wolves" came from the original gene-tailored colonists that devolved over time until their genetic alterations stabilised, creating the first Fenrisian Wolves. When the VI Legion arrived much later during the Great Crusade in the late 30th Millennium and began recruiting Astartes from the Fenrisian population, there was the occasional destabilisation of the delicate balance which resulted in the rampant genetic mutations which resulted in a new, more potent genetic line of Fenrisian Wolves. The larger and hardier stock of Thunderwolves may be the possible genetic offshoot of these early Astartes, while the more common Fenrisian Wolf would be a result of the original colonists' gene-enhancements. The interbreeding between the two species would have resulted in the development of the lesser Fenrisian wolfkin, producing a viable breeding population. It has also been hinted throughout the novels that the Wolf Pelts and fetishes worn by the Space Wolves were actually the hides of the descendants of these mutated humans, used as charms to ward of the mutant transformation of themselves.
If all modern Fenrisians are descended from the original colonists who attempted gene-splicing with that of lupines and canines, that would mean that all Fenrisians are in some way part wolf. The process by which a new Space Wolf Astartes is created would awaken these genetic traits that already lie dormant within their bodies, resulting in amber-coloured wolf-like eyes, long canines and an enhanced sense of smell. But when these genetic traits run rampant, the result is accelerated and uncontrollable growth, giving rise to the Curse of the Wulfen -- mirroring what had occurred to the original Fenrisian colonists thousands of years earlier. In the novel "A Thousand Sons" it is mentioned multiple times that when someone fighting a Fenrisian Wolf looks deep into the creature's eyes, in that moment the horrible realisation sinks in that they are facing something almost...human.
Gene splicing to survive the cold planet yes, and it is also why the only suitable recruits for space wolves were the fenrisians
But the original colonists are so far mutated into animals and have bred thoroughly that I doubt much of that really remains at this point
Lukas the Trickster more or less outright confirms it. When the Dark Eldar invade Fenris the Haemonculus is fascinated by Fenrisian Wolves, commenting how it's crude and blunt genetic modification but similar to the gene modding the Covens work with. One twist of genetic code turns a man into a tall and proud warrior, the other into a near feral beast. He wants to unwind the Canis Helix to make even more monstrous Grotesques.
true nightmare fuel
Furry Moment
It is an interesting little hidden thing in the lore
Weirdly enough it is not used as a cliché for the "technology bad" thing
But the hints of the wolves being just extremely mutated humans was present from a lot of time...
funny enough. space wolves are literally the lest furry thing among the furry things of warhammer lol
that and all the furry memes they make to piss off the space wolf stans lol
that and the fact they literally have man wolves
Is it bestiality then
"guys im not a furry i just like the faction of half naked dudes slowly turning into wolves"
Wolfwolfwolfwolfwolfwolfwolfwolfwolfwolfwolfwolf
take a shot every time he says wolf
like im a space wolf fan myself. but gods do they way over do it with the wolf thing
like doesnt the wiki page on them have the word wolf used over 1k times?
1209
omfg
so just the word wolf in its plural and and singular forms has more references than entire chapters do lol
yep
The titan legions of warhammer 40k are the most devastatingly powerful, land based war engines ever crafted. each is an ancient holy relic that has seen countless battles in the grim darkness of the far future. kinda puts my black templar space marine army to shame... but what exactly is a titan? is it true that they are all sentient? and what's...
curches
I just realized why nobody can figure out what a techpriest's gender is.
They are simply asking the wrong question, Dont ask ''What is your gender'' or ''whats in your pants''
"Dear techpriest, what lays under the hood?''
much more appropriate
chaos
plot twist. the hood is a part of their head and cant be removed
queue shoulders popping open like the hood of a car
Entirely inconsistent and has a lot of reasons
lol well i like this version
21 votes and 20 comments so far on Reddit
Yeah look at this thread for a summary
it has many different reasons for it
Originally the Raptor Imperialis had 1 head during the unification wars
LOL they really used the roman imperial eagle?
Nah thats just a normal eagle
the current aquila is more roman-esque for the fascist/oppressive imagery of it
as was the eagle of rome
I meant that they dont look similiar head-wise
Its a bit difficult to make an eagle look unique
🦅
should've had it look towards the viewer smh
TBF the left one is more american inspired than roman
yeah
LOL
but yeah either way the double-headed has a lot of inconsistent reasonings behind it
And the imperial aquila is less roman and more nazi but eh, whatever, people always go for the easiest answer, rarely for the detailed and correct one
I like the "blind to the past looking at the future" allegory
the roman eagle was a gold eagle iirc. bald eagles dont live in the eastern hemisphere
My favorite is this one from rogue trader, which is just so dumb and makes like no sense
you can literally picture 2 guys
being like
"okay how do we stick meanings onto this eagle"
"idk just yolo it"
lol yeah
Yeah
Also yeah i agree
its deffo nazi-inspired
Left wing destroyed
hence the flat top and like
the sharp shapes
while the roman eagle is at least a bit more curvy/gentle looking
but I didnt say that since it makes people mad
idiot me got confused and thought raptor imperialis was the name of the roman eagle lol
Then those people are dumb and ignorant
This would deserve the meme "degenerates like you belong to a cross" from FO NV
yes it does lol
btw. if the emperor started out in the Himalayas why was so much of the imperium roman like?
Because rule of cool
where the writers at GW just being your typical victorian simps for rome?
Nah
Also, emps started out in todays Turkey or at least that region
40k was made at a really "troublesome" time in the UK with Thatcher still around at the time
the Imperium being roman and all-conquering is absolutely for parody
back in the day they were even worse, its why you see art of space marines just randomly harassing civillians and looking like bloated mutants
hm that better tbh
Good Times. Back when obi wan was a thing
yup
but like
its also because fascist imagery/outfits just look cool
why do you think people love the Imperium's aesthetic so much
like wtf did thatcher do to make all of england hate them?
OOF
A LOT
its better if an actual english person explains it
Her political philosophy and economic policies emphasised deregulation (particularly of the financial sector), the privatisation of state-owned companies, and reducing the power and influence of trade unions.
Shortest summary you can get
Cut everything that looked somewhat social
Yeah like you could say she did some good for the country?
But like... it doesnt really excuse half the shit she did
again i cant speak about it much since im not english
Yeah, she helped through the recession, but union rights consumer rights and all that were pretty harsh cut
so she was the UK's Reagan got it lol
Yup
We did get a lot of good punk music because of her
literal
But without jelly beans
thatcher also gave us this
best thing she ever contributed in
I really did not understand a single word until the man said something
She's also pretty good in this
"I'd put a stake through her heart to make sure she never come back"
Before that I can't understand a thing
lol
Why Pious was a christian even if he fucking knew it was all a lie, and one made probably by the guy which he disagreed with back at the time of the tower of babel??
Because GW suck at lore making and never really cared, nor really realized of the fokken gold mine they were upon
Initially SM were mind scrambled convicts btw
The world eaters didn't exist in rt nameless, that is what he speaks of
aesthetics
oh lol. i know literally nothing of the RT days
so i thought he was talking about the pre heresy/heresy era
now they get mind scrambling to become convicts
we could also talk about when she sent death squads into northern ireland
so a typical english ruler move lol
and tbh i should joke about that as its tragically true :/
english rulers do not seem to like the irish very much
no they do not. and afaik the feeling is mutual for a lot of irish people
She helped the economy a lot
Mostly through privatisation and curbing the power of trade unions
again
COULD
and theres a reason I said like 3 times that im not the expert on the subject
But yeah fuck her
Made a list of the primarch i like the most. Tell me how wrong i am
russ is in the wrong spot. should be a tier
Well he's certainly "in a tier" :V
Hey i dont know much about him to be fair
i can agree with this tier list for the most part
here's mine
What about clonegrim? Where would he be?
Based, but vulcan a bit low
Khan in S tier, everything is in order
Chaded kai khan
Khan is an s tier character no matter what
In the necron tier list
Oh rip
Lmao
Poor poor perturabo.
Man I hope Tryzan trades clonegrim for realgrim so the EC actually have something to fucking do in the lore
Since realgrim has been throwing a hissy fit at his pleasure planet since Rylanor
No love for Corvus
I just imagine when Slaanesh realizes all the other god’s primarchs are coming back he’s all like ‘fulgrim please do something, anything, are you gonna do anything today?’
He’s in the same tier as lorgar because Corvus is chasing him
Isn't Corvus some Warp shadow being now?
this is a fact
true
I love democracy
Lorgar doesn't belong in d tier. Lorgar belongs in the trash
What are the drawing points/ vulnerabilities the chaos gods use to corrupt people? I know khorn is anger, glory and otherwise loving fighting. Tzeench is forbidden knowledge. Slaneesh is anything in excess such as gluttony lust and pride or basically all the deadly sins minus pride and sloth. What does nurgle do? Other than giving relief to those afflicted by diseases how does he gain followers?
Did I miss anything for the other three?
Nurgle promises immortality
What he doesn't tell is that you'll be a disease ridden mess
But you won't die
He also has this whole family spiel
Where he's benevolent Grandfather Nurgle
I'm just gonna post a long dump of a Black Library author's take on it
Khorne: Simplicity. Life is fucking complicated. You've got taxes, tithes, family obligations, complex moral and ethical concerns, and whatever cultural philosophies you have to reconcile on top of the monumental obligations of the Imperial Cult. It's exhausting. Most people in 40k are probably dealing with depression, anxiety, or some combination of trauma disorders. Improving your lot always comes at the expense of others, and there's an ultimate futility to it that can't be escaped. But Khorne can give you the escape from all that, because Khorne only wants one thing. He doesn't have complex dictates, and no voluminous tomes of religious esoterica. The entire, sum total of his dogma is one line. Five words. And that's it. For someone who has struggled to be good, struggled to be relevant, struggled to make sense in a hostile universe that defies all reason and logic, there might be nothing more powerful than the urge to simply give up and let the blessed simplicity of a red haze and an eternity of bloodshed take them.
Slaanesh: Vitality. Slaanesh cultists vary wildly. Some are artists, musicians, or junkies. Some are perverts. Some are even combatants every bit as vicious as the Khornate. But what they have in common is that their chosen vice(s) are what it takes to set their nerves on fire. It's what makes them feel real, makes them feel connected. Slaanesh takes people who feel dead inside and offers to give them the one thing that brings them to life over and over again, and the promise that when that chosen thrill ceases to entice, they'll have an eternity to find newer, ever more esoteric means of vivification.
Nurgle: Joy. Life is depressing, and it is painful. For many, especially the ill, injured, or aging, this is ever more poignant. For those who have experienced grievous personal loss in the past, the present, or see it coming in the near future, Nurgle offers the unique ability to be freed from the pain and anguish of those losses and to instead find joy and satisfaction in them. The ill and injured among his ranks aren't the hollow-eyed addicts of Slaanesh, forever chasing a dragon they can't catch. No, they gain REAL, tangible pleasure from their afflictions. Alone among the Chaos gods, I would be willing to bet that if his followers could magically be granted a clear head, nearly every single one would choose to go back into his service again. If his gifts didn't come with such a horrifically disfiguring set of side effects, I think he'd be the most widely worshipped of the Ruinous Powers.
Tzeentch: Victory. For the incorrigible gambler, nothing compares to the thrill of victory. It's a DEEP human pleasure trigger that very, very few people can resist. Several billion dollar industries are built on it, in fact. And that sensation is what Tzeentch promises. He makes no secret about twisting his followers to ruin on a whim. He offers the most dangerous and unpredictable powers. So why does anyone follow him? Because, like the degenerate gambler, each Tzeentchian cultist believes they are special, they can beat the house at its own game. And every time they divine the future, compel a Warp entity through sorcery, or master some eldritch discipline, they reinforce this belief, and gain a little more arrogance in their own abilities. And when their inevitable luck runs out and they meet some horrific and treacherous end, it reinforces every other Tzeentchian cultist's private belief that they are in fact the ones who are TRULY superior. They aren't like that guy who just got turned into an equivalent mass of leeches, oh no. They're on a hot streak, after all, and you don't stop while you're on a hot streak.
Nurgle promises freedom from pain and death.
It's in the above post yeah
Does Nurgle still torture Isha in the heart of his realm?
nurgle makes isha watch the thing on repeat
He just makes her plague soup
so yes
We barely gotten an update on her situation for years atm
Ah of course. Immortality. I should have known.
I don't know if we talk about fanfiction here

That's....a no then?
Im joking go ahead lol
Wow that’s pretty interesting.
I read a pretty good one where Isha managed to escape right after Slannesh's apotheosis and took refuge with the Emperor during the Age of Unification
To be clear it is NOT Isha/Emp
The only synopsis there I disagree with is Tzeentch's
Tzeentch is also the pursuit of knowledge
Case in point: The Thousand Sons furious attempts to gain ever more knowledge
Then they got tricked by tzeentch
The galaxy in 40k is dark and depressing and it feels like you can never achieve anything, Tzeentch offers power and change, the chance to make things better than they are, and the chance to escape from the endless mundanity and frustrating ignorance
Big E tolerates her because she helped him with fixing the Thunder Warriors and his SM template
She also made some super terraforming plants
And also turn you into a bird-freak

Tzeentch's themse are Hope, Envy, Change, Magic and Knowledge
They do, or used to
They dont
It's all lies
cool but slaanesh is hot and sassy so
its a rumor people made up from a passage in warhammer fantasy
and even then
its a cultist himself saying this shit to troll an empire of man priest

They are all born of dark emotions and are forever ruled by that fact
Yeah Chaos isnt a mysterious eldritch entity as much as BL wants to push them as such
they are evil cartoon villains
That's boring
Thems the brakes
the books migth make them deep but in the end its what they are
they are slaves to their own nature
Still, change as a concept is inextricably linked with hoping for better things
Tzeentch is the greatest Deceiver of them all.
is it tho? a lot of people look at change and see only evil and wrongness
If the chaos gods have no positive sides, where the hell do all the positive emotions go in the warp?
Because he can use truth to tell lies
To nothing
thats the point
lmao
All the negative emotions drown it out
They used to go to the Eldar Gods
them they was killed and/or eaten lol
rip
Tl;dr warhammer lore is nonsense and only exists to justify miniatures and sell products
Yes.
Except for Khaine, Isha, and Ynnead
Cegorach is also alive
What would happen if all the chaos gods were suddenly flooded with positive feelings and vibes in the warp?
Probably have positive aspects
how the actual fuck did they come up with name anyhow?
It sounds celtic
like wtf where they smoking when they made it up? cause i want some
No
yes
No
Shitcast Lameternals
How long are you going to be dwarf bait Dilara?
sigmarines who hate stinky people
forever
Sigmarines ARE stinky
drg chat takes a shit whenever girl shows up
Also jokes aside, dont hate on AOS please. Its childish.
you called aos fantasy. thats true heresy
I know NOTHING about aos except vt2 is cool and sigmar has to be cool because saltz likes them
:)
Sigmar is cool because he has a hammer
TRUE
also a beard
also true
also is a Sigma-r male
I know a little about AoS and I really dislike it
I also know very little about Alcy
Sugmar
i hope that pun hurt to type as it did to read lol
makes about as much sense doesnt it
😔

AoS has given me reason to hate it though
And I'm allowed to dislike things
I just manicpost, please have a slice of arugula pizza as a peazza offering
It's not even that, they tried to turn fantasy into 40k 2
if you hate me because of the eragon fanfiction discussion, I understand
I hated that too, it happened against my will
The stormcast ranged weapons are literally called bolters
BECAUSE THEY LITERALLY THROW BOLTS
ITS WHAT A THICKER ARROW IS
THAT'S WHAT A CROSSBOW IS
THEY USE CROSSBOWS THO
WE DON'T CALL BOWS ARROWERS DO WE?
yes
"From afar, Arrer Boyz rain down arrows upon their enemies. Accuracy be damned, quantity is all." —The Orc Arrer Boyz.[2] Arrer Boyz are those unusual Orcs whom have taken up the uncommon skill of archery, usually banding together into their own warbands and providing Greenskin armies with missile troops equipped with crude yet effective composi...
WHY DO ORKS USE ARCHERS BTW
IT MAKES NO SENSE
for fun
🏹
Anyway, I dislike AoS because most of the lore doesn't even respect what it's based on, Sigmar has literally nothing to do with Azyr
Too bad, I still dislike it
Again, people are allowed to dislike things
cause gobo archers cant be trusted 😛
TRUE
Can we all agree on one thing: and that is to dunk on Diablo: Immortals
yes
you know. i said that as a joke. but its likely not lol
Too bad, it sells :)
Unrelated franchise and not a part of the subject
:)
also I dont get salty for diablo like you do with AOS since I literally barely know it even exists
Irrelevant, people are either allowed to criticise things or they are not.
I cant believe dez is now a legend
Dez was the apex legends all along
Also you clearly are a fan of AoS
Im really not lmao
A likely story
I just like whats its doing but its not the sort of universe I'm into
I just find the salt for it childish
if you dont like it dont throw a fit about it
Disliking things is childish
If you don't like that I don't like it don't throw a fit about it
Wasn't referring to that, so you are just making assumptions now. I was talking more towards things like "Shitcast Lameternals"
feel free to parrot the stuff i say though lol
lol
Yeah a single unfunny joke to criticise the blandness of fantasy space marines is definitely throwing a fit lmao
no they arent lol
that is just blatantly incorrect
Thunderhead greatbow, boltstorm pistols, hurricane and longstrike crossbows
not including all the different types of bow
none are referred to as bolters
yes, he does. Even in fantasy he was heralded by the twin tailed comet - comets being powerful portents of Azyr. The cult of Sigmar, one of the biggest religions in the empire, claim that he became ruler of the heavens when Ulric crowned him.
Sigmar as a character however has no relationships with Azyr, no shit a portent of Azyr would foretell someone becoming important, that's one of the things Azyr is used for, and my bad about the AoS weapons, I didn't really look into it
He is literally ruler of the heavens
That is Azyr
the lore of the Heavens
it's fine you hate AoS obviously, but they didnt just pull his connection to Azyr out their arse
The empire and cult of Sigmar were always focussed on Azyr
I legitimately can't see it
Hey, considering that the 40k universe and all it's retcons are just supposed to be a case of lost knowledge being re-discovered. What is to say: what if the emperor is just one of these supposed men of gold, but through revisionist history the rest of the stories of him appeared. That would truly atleast for me, explain how dark age of tech humanity was able to make the fuckin ORKS sign non aggression pacts, as it seems hinted at. An army of super humans akin to the emperor in power would be terrifying
Any other thoughts on this?
It's a solid theory
I'm pretty sure adb said that alan bligh himself subscribed to something akin to that theory
There never was a "non-aggression pact" with the orks
thats just another fan theory
I think they teamed up sometimes
"the threat of aliens was viewed as trivial and eventually non-aggression pacts were signed between Terra, its colonies and many of the alien races." - I suppose I was mistaken in the usage of none agression pact with the orks. but atleast they were a trivial thing.
Orks were mostly exterminated or scared into submission yeah
the treaty thing is mostly for like... other sentient/civilised aliens
I'd like to think the Emperor is a man of gold of some sort but at the end of the day we don't know and the writers can't agree over it because it's intentionally left vague
Same with the daot
The LoV are almost definitely the Men of Stone tho
Which makes sense because stone
dwarves
rock and stone
Being created by the men of gold to help humanity conquer the stars
That's not actually confirmed in canon it's a fan theory
ah i see
All we know is that the men of gold made the men of stone to help humanity colonize the stars and that the men of stone made the men of iron
The men of stone also made the stcs
and this all lines up pretty well with what we know of the LoV
They have the Votann, which sound like what happens when an STC runs out of memory and is also revered in an almost religious sense by the kin
And the Ironkin, who are pretty much men of iron if they were programmed to want to be helpful
My current theory is that the leagues made the Ironkin and that humanity took that idea and then took out the whole "programmed to want to be helpful" thing in addition to not treating them as equals
So you know how there’s imperial worlds at different technological stages
Do you think there’s a world with like 1920s technology
iirc there are worlds at a literal medieval level so lol
Yeah that’s what I’m thinking
You got worlds for everything
Al Capone vs space marines
lol
There are apparently entire hive worlds that are have industrial revolution levels of tech
Ya
Also the train in the darktide trailer seems to run off steam or coal
Right!
but the smoke from said boiler looks to be black so its coal fueled
Imperial technology tends to be very anachronistic
E.g using candles and torches to light hallways while you wield a factory produced laser gun that has been bathed in holy oils
i liked the massive train in hired gun lol
Rick Priestley, 40k's daddy, actually gave an example of someone painting light bulbs yellow while using candles to light a room because of superstition revolving around machine spirits
hell doesnt the mechanicus literally have a special rite just for changing a lightbulb?
the rite of rekindling or something
They probably have a rite for turning on a switch
They also make their chicken-walker runners run on treadmills since they are too afraid of turning them off
🧠
lol
Given how spotty 40k tech can be I'm not surprised they started praying for it to work
^
There's actually a lot of shit in 40k that's kept running because they're afraid to turn them off come to think of it
Dunecrawlers come to mind
I know I've sent a few to the big man while turning on something after it crashed
Where they continuously feed people in to serve as living batteries because they fear that if one turns off they won't be able to turn it back on
^
They also catch these things like they are buffalos once their job on the field is done with actual ropes
note the gimp-co-pilot
Dwarf-gekko-but-40k noooo
You’d be surprised how often this happens irl
Laughs in engineering*
To be fair even if they could turn it back on. Turning it off for just a day would doom billions and cripple Galactic supply chains.

wait what
The Guard Lieutenant from Space Marine
yea me neither wth
That's what the Wiki says
true
Yo im fairly new to warhammer in general, i have a question, what kind of weapons does the Ogryn have lorewise, that we could expect ingame?
So we know for a fact that the weapon confirmedbin the game are :
Ogryn tube launcher, the ripper gun, the Uge Knife and the power mace + power buckler combo
i think we can expect some heavy ranged weapons such as heavy bolters, auto/assault cannon etc
Some other things you can expect :
- greatsword
- ogryn gauntlet grenade launcher
-slab shield - big machine gun
- autocannon
big club
damn thats pretty cool, im hoping for a minigun of sorts, had fun as the outcast engineer with it in vermintide
The closest to a minigun would be the heavy machine gun since the enemy ogryns already use miniguns
The ripper gun looked kinda underpowered in the gameplay in my opinion, it took 2 point blank shots to kill the normal horde enemy
exactly, it shouldn't take more than one hit to kill the lowly base enemy
🤷♂️
I had the same feeling since even the autogun looked like it had more stopping power
Maybe they'll buff it
maybe they'll ruin it in a balance patch
maybe they'll just add a weapon pack that outshines all other weapons
who knows
Don't be so negativ
i think its far too early to guage any power level of weapons yet
we have no idea what rarity, properties, talents, buffs etc etc
@cunning wigeon might explain it better than I can for @tawdry wyvern
Its the whole reforging process costing a stormcast a part of their soul bit 👀
thanks, lets see if another lore master explains it for me
Yeah the alcohol is mostly stemming from books where the character is always just
"Grrrr im angst as fuck, I need a [sci-fi alcohol here], right now."
oh sorry I missed this question, still interested?
Queue to the Interrogator series
yes, shoot
always grateful for some lore
so the reforging process was done by sigmar a) to give him some champions of mankind to be on par with other factions and b) to stop Nagash thinking he can just get everyone's soul. essentially the soul of a champion is yoinked right as they perish and then put upon the anvil of apotheosis where it is tempered and infused with a spark of Azyr. If the champion is not powerful enough or if too much Azyr is let in they will become a stormgheist and wreck shit with no humanity left, if successful a human is then born again as a stormcast with some degree of control over Azyr but forever bound to it - meaning their soul doesn't go to Shyish when they perish which pisses off Nagash to no end. In the case of the Anvils of the Heldenhamer the souls are from the long dead of the world that was (whfb) which makes Nagash even more mad because they were already dead. Problems arise however as this reforging is done everyone a stormcast dies, which even with all their prowess is quite often given the usually unfair fights they find themselves in, and so gradually they become less and less human and more and more aspect of Azyr, often misremembering past lives, forgetting them entirely and sometimes even forgetting emotions or gender. The saving grace of this is that they tend to not remember their deaths because those that do tend to lose the humanity the fastest as they realise all the horror they've been put through.
this process of reforging inspired Nagash when he was making his Ossiarchs and so he takes the souls of multiple mortal champions, severs their humanity and any unnecessary parts such as memories of emotions or rebellious nature and then forces them all into one soul gem that then animates his Bonereapers. This means each bonereaper has the collective experience of potentially hundreds of mortals and despite being undead can act with both synchrony of their cohort and independence from their leaders, a liege will give simple instructions like "take out their artillery" and the bonereapers will then wordless split into flanking forces, distractions etc to complete the task meaning they fight like one giant machine or hivemind despite all being individual.
this does however mean failure and success is seen to fall upon the individual as such they will get punished, usually by having their bodies reformed into mounts for the kavaloi to ride upon, during which their more human soul stuff is merged with that of warbeasts so they are savage and obedient but still remember the humanoid form they once had and the failure to Nagash they are guilty of
Thank you, sounds more grim than I actually expected. Also lots of dickery from gods that the mortals have to endure
IT'S A POWERMAUL PLEASE 😢
big stick
I want to wield a HERETIC
stick

My brain always turns amasec to percocet for a brief moment. Its always a bit wild
