In a 70+ book novel series
The vast majority of them are godawful and the only reason I finished the sequels to Horus Rising were because abnett got me invested in that arc, the other authors just kind of shit it up getting to the end
I mean it doesn't help that black library as a publisher sucks
And that apparently a lot of the more consistent authors are kept around explicitly because they focus on quantity over quality, adb literally said this in the cleanest way possible so as not to get fired (being an exception to that rule)
Like I've despised black library as a publisher ever since Josh Reynolds left and revealed how fucking creatively stifling they are
He posted this massive list of pitches that they rejected and it's SO disappointing
