we are not talking about that
I’ll ram an eldar
fucking DAoT tech pulling anything out of its butt
same
(I've actually had Eldar ships in BFG deliberately plot a course that intersects with mine.)
heck i'll be rammed by an eldar
🧠
Give Eldar femboy BF in maid outfit now
Although, I think it worth mentioning, being able to ram is probably hyper useful against the likes of the Tyranid hive fleets, because they're going to try to close the distance with you anyway.
And being some Admech cruiser with a box-like front end without a ramming prow or prong is going to end badly in that scenario.
this is true
consider the one true ramming alternative tho
demiurg cutting beams ✨
That... Is a good point.
local asteroid miners capable of turning storied battleships into slag in like 15 seconds
I know Imperial boarding torpedoes use what is basically melta tech to burn through the hull to help them get in.
So its odd some mad man hasn't done the same on a large scale for imperial warships of large size.
Probably did once, record of it got buried in Imperial bureaucracy, and forgotten about
Like this one time a Forge World was able to stop an entire Hive Fleet Tendril on its own by burning its atmosphere
Incredibly useful, promptly lost in a sea of paper
issue is if your entire prow is a bomb....
They literaly pray to much....
@barren tapir mmmh wich Dynasty necron are in the Ultramar zone and Triplex Phall zone
And idk how to advance a good plot maybe a skitarii group find a issue into a cave and they found one of the enter of the necron tomb ?
It is more probable that when deciding where to found another forge city they discover the complex imo, then after that is just like mechanicus the game
Eehhh, not sure, maybe dautekh or something similar, one of the strongest iirc
Isn't this a retcon? I remember reading stories of black templars despising psykers
I got Necron Codex i should read them for more accurate history
If you have it definitely, i know many stuff, but i cannot know all, and you have the source anyway
Its a soft retcon yes
AH AH! My memory suffice!
XD
Found some good gunline art, just wish it was a bit more organized but im just nitpicking
Huh wasnt aware they changed the colors before Damocles
Neat
I thought it was after
If u notice, most of them are in tau sept colors
i really want some tau infqntry and allies
But yeah Viorla took over p soon tbh
Oh yea just the white and red
They didnt have that color scheme till like
End of 7th?
Oh like for boxart and stuff?
Yea
Yeah I assume its just cuz Viorla pops better?
Oh no like
look at those hamburger buns lol
O
I might be massively wrong, didnt sleep last night
God i wish i hadnt fuckin given up my 7th ed codex
Im probably wrong tho
This is the description I found on the Tau 6th edition shop page "with various color schemes and insignia of different septs; and a comprehensive army list that allows you to organize your Tau Empire miniatures on the tabletop. "
Yeee vior'la was fully red back in the day
so they got an overhaul
now that they're full white and as you say "pop" better they became the posterboys instead of the normal t'au sept
yee cus they look way better
So I finished Brutal Kunnin' the other day. Overall I enjoyed it, just mindless fun with Orks being Orks. Didn't really appreciate how half of the book was the Mechanicus repeatedly shooting itself in the foot. I mean, needlessly clinging to 'muh logic can't be wrong' and 'ACQUIRE TECH' is pretty in character (and I'm saying this as someone who likes the Admech) but I would have rather that be demonstrated from the Ork perspective rather than constant cuts to Techpriest bickering among themselves. Something like having a paragraph lovingly describe this obvious hole in the admech defensive line which the Orks promptly ignore to hit a hard point and wonder why the really killy humans aren't there. Things like that. I will admit though that ||having the Orks interrupt a Chaos plot in progress instead of being 3rd partied by Chaos was a novel mix up that I liked. ||
Im gonna spoiler most of this since it pertains to pretty much the story of the entire book but im reading Spear of The Emperor and I just find the ||Star Scorpions to be very interesting as a chapter that pushed to the brink just for pure survival and seeing the transition from the Scorpions to the Pure is interesting to say the least||
Bro I just read Last Church
And all I gotta say is
Daaaaamn
Also
BRO I WANNA BE A PRINCEPS SO BAD
i wish i never found that piece of lore

"Discovered in M39 by a team of Askellian Explorators on a dead
world rimward of Aventine, the cache designated D-216-98
began as simply another collection of scarcely understood
xenos weaponry. In the decades since, adepts on Core
Theta have received reports of similar caches scattered
across the sector. The weapons’s creators remain
a mystery, though Tech-Magi and xenos scholars
now believe they are the work of a species ancient
and malevolent beyond compare. Inquisitors with
Eldar contacts are especially concerned, as more and
more of these items are found in raids against Faceless
Traders, and whisper of the dead race that might awaken to
destroy Askellon—the Necrontyr"
Dark heresy 2e necron weapon cache lore exert
kinda love this look at necrons from the inquisitions pov
owee
Currently reading Ghostmaker, they manage to make CSM scary, World Eaters at that
World Eaters that use tactics
I mean
Wow
Someone actually made the Khornate use battle tactics
And not moronicly charge the leman russes
Charging leman russes works for marines, not so much for your average cultists, the dichotomy is interesting between how war is fought
This is why you equip your cultists with det packs straped to their chests.
Hug and pull the cord
.... does any army use troops that way?
‘What could be finer than the soughing kiss of blade on flesh? Come to me and I will love you with such strokes as will make you swoon. We will dance and caress with edges so fine the very stars themselves are sundered by their divine movements.’
Drukhari love letters... 💖 💖 💖
The Taliban.
No real army, no.
...At least, not anymore.
The Japanese in ww2 used suicide troops, or about as close as you can get.
Read: Lunge mines and other Japanese AT measures.
Course, that was only when the war started to really hit the fan.
ok but that's kinda actually hot
there's definitely a knife kink going on here
Oh yes
*The renegade archon made some unheard reply to Vect, prompting a terrifying rumble of laughter from the great tyrant.
‘I’m not sure that’s anatomically possible, Narthellyon, but my haemonculi will be perfectly willing to test the theory on you. Seize him – alive, if you please.’*
Vect funniest bitch in 40k winner
Mind u, made even better that vect is a giant holographic face talking down to Narthellyon from his warship in this scene
Ala megamind
‘Such a shame,’ the glacial tones said without any hint of regret. ‘Now we shall have to wait to rebirth Narthellyon before we can have any fun together.
I feel like
If you build a giant hologram projector
You use that shit as often as possible
“Oh you’re an archon alright, just not a super one!”
Some of them strapped explosive belts onto themselves and then crawled under tanks because their armor is thinner there
This is true
This also makes sense. The Chinese got pretty desperate. A lack of proper AT guns, let alone even AT rifles or other means, plus the frighteningly quick progress Japan made into China...
Suicide attacks are like... One of the lesser things China did in that war that strikes as troubling.
Yee
I meant in 40k lmao
Bomb squigs come to mind
Other than that probably only chaos or gsc cultists
Gsc cultists = smh my head
Im stupid
u could probs honestly justify suicide bombing v easily for most factions in 40k
obvs not like, eldar of any kind, cus duh. but fanatical or desperate imperials, cults of any flavour, orks cus duh
,, avoid it with tau purely cus u can fucking bet GW would make that a kamikaze analogue
like with fucking nippon rps;gu
Ahhh right
I'd bet you a buck or two that the imperials would, if pushed hard enough, use lunge mines and other measures.
Actually... Pretty sure such a thing happened during one of the wars for Armageddon but I forget which.
if you mean in 40k? yeah
Chaos cults are pretty desperate n fanatical
Some places under tau influence end up that way as well (even if its not their original intention, they aren't gonna stop it)
Pretty much anything that has any level of fanatacism
Potentially even the imperium, region dependant
wouldn't be unheard of for some of the more ecclesiarch inclined populace to decide to take matters into their own hands

Discord... With steam... Some times their dumbfuckery just becomes insulting
big 🧠
watched Old Bale Eye. animation was bad, but it was cool to see a deep dive into the rivalry from the perspective of the orks
There is way worse
Yeah i wouldnt call it bad
but like
it was deffo cheap
it had good parts but the constant "shot before pausing midair" thing got a bit annoying
Yee
but like i said, i thought it was cool overall
also stuff like them obviously painting over minis for some wide shots of tanks and stuff
and yeee it was deffo good
Glad it wasnt atrocious
still not getting warhammer plus lol
Yee don't forget that thus is like, v low budget animation probs from a less experienced team
Will probably appear on yt anyway
I was pretty impressed by it
And yeah its good still
just wish it wasnt so cheap
but it is their first foray into animations so its fine
i do like the idea of an anthology series
GW pls fund ur projects
GW please pay your employees more
LUL
Sadly GW doesnt invest
They dont have the combined braincells to plan a strategic marketing campaign
What chances for Inquisition to return soul stones to eldar?
(I'm asking this because of reading about the ghost halls.)
Very little unless the Inquisition wants something from said eldars
Or hiding them very well since eldars will do everything to get those back

I kinda got a graphic novel feel from Old Bale Eye tbh. Fitting for Orks anyway
A happy xhT you too!
eldars are cringe
He hates old ppl
Octopuses
exactly
okay are multiple humans called human
Peoples
But yeah jokes aside their name is already plural
then what is the regular form?
one eldar, several eldar
Now that I think of it, the only eldar form that has a s plural are exodites
Asuryani, Drukhari, Eldar, Exodites
fucking elves and their confusing names
Harlequins too now that I remember them
Thats just them saying it wrong
you dont need to make such a big deal of this lol
????
Yeah because the Imperium doesnt have stupid names either
Pre-k will prepare you
with their weird ass use of latin
Im... not saying anything
Just that if you think the word "Eldar" as a plural thing is stupid you should look at stupid IRL words too
i mean
skelly already put the word "Sheep" as an example
it's not quite the same
imperium has badass names, eldar have confusing ones, at least to me
Yeah that just sounds like bias to me
I like Imperial names but they got some pretty stupid ones too which is the joke
i guess
like corvus being called Crow Crow
?
his name
corvus corax
in 2 different languages
oh in latin?
So if the emperor is an eternal why doesn’t he just heal back to his peak?
well that's dumb actually i didn't know that

Welcome to 40k
theres more to come
weird considering 40k is otherwise high quality lore
guess the writers got lazy with that one
Not really
40k's lore is lazy and top quality
it changes with each writer
Its by no means a good narrative
uhhhhh
it is compared to recent star wars and is universally praised
it has a lot of depth
I mean
LOL
as krug said
40k is a bit all voer the place
i love it
buuuut
yeah
theres a lot of garbage
Yeah it feels like an amazing universe when you first get into it, but then you realise its not that amazing and is almost like most obscure sci-fi universes
Its still great mind you
But calling it untouchable is eh
i mean in my experience it kind of is untouchable
like there's books that rival literary classics but are looked down upon due to being "nerd" books but that's game stuff in general
ehhhhhhhh
it has some great novels but they're great within the realm of pulp
like dan abnett is a great writer but 40k itself isn't like
idk uh
Especially when you got something like the Primarch of the Dark Angels who's name is Lion El'Johnson and its the author name of the novel Dark Angel
ray bradbury or something
and their fortress monastery is named "The Rock"
after a gaybar near GW's offices
which implies many things

it's pulpy fun stuff that's wildly inconsistent and increasingly taken seriously by both its fandom and its writers
dan abnett for example is a comic writer who knows how to write well but like
he knows exactly what he writes
something that is meant to be FUN to read but probably not say much outside of that
Wtf
40K is very serious
well i heard that 40k used to be more lighthearted but things evolve over time
maybe the dark angels were once a gay joke but now they're not gay at all if you look at their lore
they're knights templar in space
it depends on the writer but a lot of space marine writing is actually like
unintentionally gay coded
especially in the hh series
Its not suppose to be taken seriously
^
Dark Angels literally got jawas as their serfs
i mean maybe not early 40k but modern 40k isn't a joke
it's like a legit science fiction universe
it IS a joke because the joke is in the foundations
it's just that some fans who later grew up and worked at games workshop never got that because they're dumb nerds
The opening of the House Delaque Necromunda book's first page is literally the planetary governor congradulating the populace for keeping gang warfare at all time high, you are suppose to laugh at someting like that. Not take it for granted.

so they treated it seriously and gw just runs with it because hey
It wouldn't be a joke if people didn't stop changing the only good established lore just to give more sphress marine power
it makes money from manchildren
also that too
Between the change from the Cicatrix Maledictum and the Nihilus Sector
well
And Tyranids now being "surface feeders"
actually hm i just realized something
i think the meme of 40k, the idea of it that gets communicated online and in the fandom, is far more serious than gw thinks it is
but people run with that idea
And the Blood angel shenanigans
Yeah nah I think from what I read the current 40k lore has as much bad writing as the old lore
But the worse part is that it retcons what they did good
although there's still stuff like that wh community story where the message is literally "the arbites should shoot down refugee craft because they could have EBIL GENESTEALER CULTISTS IN THEM FOREIGNERS ARE ALIENS KILL REFUGEES"
which was written by a guy whose facebook was filled with red flags
Im not sure if hes still here but yeah
40K is silly
saying its untouchable is sus
i am slightly busy
but like
i still don't think it's a joke
like people like the books and the horus heresy and stuff because they're well written
Thats iffy
^ this
The entire fandom admits 40k is silly fun
Like marines riding giant wolves
and only some of the fandom actually gets into it and treats it like the bible
and then start pretending it's arma or something and complain about the giant wolves
"oh the space marines weigh too much they shouldn't be able to ride wolves" - arch
i mean that's cool but silly
And thats the essence of 40k
same as how an Imperator titan looks mighty but is still dumb
i mean it's like fantasy in space but that doesn't mean it's a joke
or dumb
in fact the moral grey stuff is smarter than a lot of scifi where it's just "good guys good bad guys bad"
I mean the grimderp and silliness do make it sound like a joke sometimes
i mean the moral grey stuff is a fucking meme
Especially with today where GW is clearly marketting the Imperium as the good guys
and even the tau are morally grey at best, even in their first iteration
CWE is pretty ok aswell krug
They do bad shit but its like to one planet
Like apart from the Drukh, the eldars are pretty cool in general
and exodites and whatnot
compared to the Imperium where they murder entire systems
drukhari and corsairs are shitty though
the eldar would sacrifice a billion humans to save one of their own...they're not better than other factions at all
I mean its funny how CWE are one of the lest amoral faction meanwhile Drukhari ARE the worst faction
and the tau give no freedom to their citizens and brainwash them
so would the imperium
so does the imperium
Drukhari are hilarious and also probs the best written of the eldar in terms of books
Just cuz of path of the deldar
i mean at least you have free will in the imperium
servitors would like a word
taus are brainwashed like the Imperium but atleast they get human rights
that's the mechanicus
You live and die in a fucking factory
not the imperium
join the guard, move up the ranks
Get stabbed in the back by jealous superiors
and yes before you ask that happens in the lore
Either that or nobility
same thing
But after reading the Gaunt books, yeah its pretty bad how much there is corruption inside the guard
y'all just sound like imperium haters lol
like they're literally the protagonists
they're not good guys
god
but they're better than other factions
no they are not
that's kind of the point
this is the point
Dude they take a kid's mom and turn her into a fucking servitor
because she wanted to get his kid some food
OH SHIT
I'm makin piss
Well idk what I'll do but
Lets go lads
resolution is bad
you gotta enhance the image
It's the one pinned in memes
i'm tryna read it
Lemme get mine
oh found it
We really arent
You're the one saying a faction that turns its citizens into lobotimized slaves is worth fighting for

I'll pass fam
Well, in the past we have had alot of issues of people saying the Imperium being good guys and then revealing themselves to be facists that proceeded to use slurs etc
well for starters some of y'all were posting aos in another channel which raises my suspicions and now you're attacking the imperium to say that your own factions are better
ok let me try to tick boxes
"Imperium are the good guys"
We are pretty close to the 40k sales one
"imperium are the good guys"
lol why
Just like
it's 4 in the afternoon
you going "people posting AOS in 40k is suspicious"
why are you eating pasta
Oi im hungry
what timezone
oh
well now that just changes it from being too early to eat pasta
to being TOO LATE
Did I do something

Also having a beef because im turk for some reason
You're not a clown you're the whole circus
Another imperium clown?
Yeah sadly
It's not fascist
now I can start ticking off my own bingo.
Oppressing the masses
Pointless war
Xenophobia
Committing countless warcrimes

Feef are you socialist ?
many planets aren't hive worlds
war that is necessary to stay alive
xenophobia because all aliens want you extinct or enslaved
committing countless warcrimes because it's the only way to survive in such a hellish galaxy
Makes it ok then. You’re right
holy shit
The entire point of the imperium is that it doesnt have to do what it does, the Emperor himself said his cause his lost the moment he got interred onto the golden throne and that the vision he had will die with him

See, if you read any of the Dark imperium books, you'd realise that Gulliman says exactly the opposite.
the imperium was better back before 40k yes
Jokes aside it wasnt
but now it's so fucked that it had to get worse to survive
uhhh
it literally was
gw has a weird tendency of drinking its own kool-aid and having characters say that great crusade imperium was good akshully with no counterpoint
and because nerds are bad at critical thinking the entire point of horus rising goes over their heads
Corvus Corax and Vulkan even admit the Imperium back then was brutal especially with their upbringing and they hated it but tolerated it because the moment a foothold in the milky way was established they could go back to making a proper empire
also reforms and whatnot
but you know what happened after that lul
Oh no imperium stan again?
guilliman is very close to saying outright that "holy shit the emperor was wrong and we were the baddies" but
1: He's still far from it in his own "arc"
2: GW will never imply that in a codex
since it's only a thing in black library novels
Yeah but the Imperium murders children because its necessary for their survival
why wont you get that through your thick skull
wtf
codices will continue to have passages about how the tau are evil because they attacked a city the imperium proceeded to orbitally bombard into ruins
actual 9e rulebook blurb btw
it ends with "AND THUS WAS HUMANITY REMINDED THAT THEY CANNOT TRUST ALIENS POOPOOPEEPEE"
They had to do it though. Galaxy has necrons in it
and the deathwatch codex is just like "yeah the deathwatch are noble defenders here's some artwork of a weapon they made using an eldar's head"
"remember, the tau are brainwashing you!"
i am cool with the deathwatch being comically evil
i am not cool with the weird writing that codex has when describing the deathwatch
40k is suppose to be really serious krug
They need to make you think they’re good because they’re the faction you’re buying for
"ALL ALIENS MUST DIE"
Have people mentionned cherubs yet ?
Cute
yeah and i hate it
it's one thing to make the deathwatch look cool in their own codex
it's another to be weird about it
Unless you’re chaos then you get weird grey area shit
They sre
nvm
No they arent

that's literally 40k
there literally are no friendly xenos
THERE IS
you going to sign a treaty with the orks?
humans did during the DAOT
the orks willingly signed a peace treaty with us
as did the eldar
"poor ghazghkull is just being oppressed by the Imperium, they should open their borders to orks!"
clowns
The Imperium murders innocent aliens regardless because its to remind you that they are prejudiced and evil, why are you like this
LMAO WAT
What the fuck are you on bro
AND THEN THEY GOT BACK STABBED
IT LITERALLY STATES THAT HUMANITY GOT STABBED IN THE BACK BY ALL XENOS DURING THE AGE OF STRIFE
Hey guys to prove my point i’m going to use the literal worst example to make you the soyjack
for a lore chat no one knows lore
Dude imperium is a xenophobic mess, deal with it
There is literally nothing good about it
We've cited books you've cited nothing but memes
mmmhhhh
NO THEY DIDN'T. THE ELDAR DIDN'T CARE THAT THEY WERE CREATING WARP STORMS AND THE ORKS ONLY STARTED FIGHTING US ONCE THE EMPIRE THAT THEY HAD MADE THE AGREEMENT WITH HAD COLLAPSED
sry for caps
wow it's almost like there's evidence against that in-universe and that the statement only comes from the emperor, hm!
Anger
yee
THANK YOU
But we can totally trust the Emperor
hes the president
I MEAN
uh
whatever he is
Also why do you think there are no peacefull xenos races left? They got fucking genocided by the imperium
He’s the corpse
almost as if it's some kind of allusion to a real world myth and that the writers want you to figure out that "oh everyone lost their marbles during the age of strife" but didn't count on the fact nerds are dumb
and everyone else
allusion to what literary work
i see you took english 9 and made a c
if u still exist in 40k it is probably because u have at least one entire sentient specise on ur kill count
allusions can also apply to real world stuff
The stab-in-the-back myth (German: Dolchstoßlegende, pronounced [ˈdɔlçʃtoːsleˌɡɛndə] (listen), lit. 'dagger stab legend') was an antisemitic conspiracy theory, widely believed and promulgated in right-wing circles in Germany after 1918. The belief was that the German Army did not lose World War I on the battlefield, but was instead betrayed by t...
Now hes just gonna say "wtf" and that its not related to the topic
looooooooool

it's honestly not
It is
jews have nothing to do with fictional aliens
Like, bro when people are not agreeing with your sole opinion you should take a hint.
oh yeah. we did this in secondary school
u called it
if you think they do then that says more about you than about 40k
and he just did
says the guy who compared an ork waagh to opening borders
like how some people think orcs are black people, says more about them than the people they call "racist"
????
No one thinks that
bruh
That’s also a dnd thing
jesus christ
this is beyond even Arch
literally a lot of people said that and wotc removed alignment defined races as a result
Hey feefifofum(?) how about you take a break and then come back later, maybe think about it
sure
that sounds wise.
ty
and you can go back to talking about age of shitmar or whatever.
let's do that
You’re referencing a dnd thing. Not a single person has made a connection like that with 40k orks
I think he needs some help taking a break.
Yes
and so the cycle continues

Guys guys hear me out, I think as a show of goodwill of how good a faction the Imperium is we should also take innocent people and surgically attach their bodies to floating parade platforms
this is what good people do
: )
is he gone
They have to obvs
it's ok Dilara you're preaching to believers now

more like
there are NO good factions in 40k
The scary metal skeletons will atomise them otherwise
just those that we think are cool
Im not even done yet but this is close enough
that reminds me of the tripods from the war of the worlds movie
in some wierd way
"it's not good that they do this, BUT it is entirely necessary to attach innocent people to platforms and parade them around, otherwise the imperium would collapse, therefore making it good 'in comparison' to other factions"
lmao krug
that's how imperium-stans word things

and they call us npcs
Good thing I'm only an IG stan
when they regurgitate the same thing over and over
Ok im sorry but what is the plural? "Eldar" or "eldars"? I would say its still " eldar" but you lot made me insecure about that
eldar
Jokes aside its Eldar
ye
"imperium cool, not good." I aprove this message and I am an Imperium fan
Eldars
Same as how one of them would "We the Eldar, are here to assist you" etc
🅱️ eldar
yeah it does
Damn i missed the booting
Das boot
Actually is he even booted
idk
Saw that one from a mile away.
i think referring to orks and black people in the same sentence deserves that
he's in solitary
Yeah ok, so its eldar -> elves then, kk!
ty for the help
Aeldari is also there
its their newer copyrightable name
but they basically mean the same thing
i hate it

Schmort
Ynnari
reee
More like bin-nari
speaking of copyright stuff
Get them outta here
I don't get why 'Asur', 'Dawi', etc wasn't good enough
oh yeah some of the aos race names are very very silly copyright names
Yeah they’re dumb as fuck
some are okay though
Duardin is the only one i like
"duardin" actually sounds good
"orruk" sounds like "uruk" and i therefore forgive it because "uruk" sounds cooler than "orc"
100%
The more specialised it is, the cheaper it is to get and the better it is to protect
that confuses me too
the way i see it
aos names are dumb
but aos lore is pretty good and way less inconsistent and problematic than 40k lore so like
I forget what the word for dark elf and wood elf is but they definitely had a name
it is what it is
Sylvaneth? Or is that just the trees
I think that's the trees but that's still AoS
I think they have a Fantasy name, like high elves were Asur in elvish, etc
Asrai
for wood elves
ye was about to say
Druchii is just a colour noe
i mean
i'm not sure if they could've used asrai simply because the sylvaneth are like
the wood elves if you took away the elves
and just added more tree spirits
tree spirit faction
fair enough but there's also a wood elf one, no?
there are wood elves called "wanderers" who are part of the free cities army yeah
but free cities is just a conglomeration of all the leftover fantasy minis that aren't already attached to other factions
with the explanation that order cities are multicultural
which i like
even though
it's a faction made from monetary need to sell older models
but the writers were like "hey let's make it cool narratively"
it's dope
it alongside other aos fluff results in a very modern take on a warhammer setting
instead of "everyone is trying to kill each other and no one can get along" like in 40k (which if you take it too seriously can lead to a fatalistic or even fashy message coming from it, "the strong survive, there are no morals" is something i have seen many of the nastier 40k fans say they like about 40k)
it's "the world is dangerous and fucked, but if disparate people can work together and put aside their differences they can have a chance of surviving and trying to make things better"
which fantasy KIND OF DID but only to reference Tolkien
aka SOMETIMES the elves and empire and dwarves and whatnot would actually ally with each other in a military sense and fight back against bigger threats
but then return to being separate and mean to each other (though not outright hostile like in 40k)
They attempted that AoS view with the Ynnari / Imperium peace treaty
But it hasn't gone that good so far
mind you, I don't think it's wrong to like this aspect of 40k, as long as you detach it from real life/understand that it's meant to be depressing that 40k do be like this.
It's like really liking a villain yet understanding that he's a villain, but applying that to a setting-level.
Unless I'm misunderstanding
I don't think it's wrong but sometimes you need something slightly more uplifting
oh sure
yes
it works very well for tabletop for example
but if you try to get gamers to discuss it
oh boy.
Oh no, most people that discuss tabletop are pretty chill
You def can do it here I had no issues
But you'll always have "That Guys" or tryhards yes
the fucking WEIRD thing is that in the original 1987 sourcebook it was like

The same, but also not the same
Tbh I was a bit hesitant to go full tabletop here for that very reason

Everyone still hated each other, but there was a lot more wiggle room for different races and factions to work together
because every faction was less xenophobic than in modern 40k while also remaining xenophobic
also because the universe was presented as much more open for "anything can happen"
you want space marines who defected to the orks? marxist human enclaves in the far eastern reaches of the galaxy? an eldar corsair group filled with human and ork pirates? go for it
that was the vibe
I mean, almost anything can still happen
but as it gets more detail it enevitably gets a bit more restrictve
"There's literally everything in space!" - a certain show i will not name
please name because I don't get the reference
Like it's still technically true but gw has zeroed in on the details to where they're presented as like
basically universal laws
rick and morty 🤮
I think it in part stemmed from the fact that rogue trader was meant to simultaneously be its own thing while also serving as a template for hobbyists to use for science fiction/science fantasy stuff
and while it's still technically true in universe, just look at some of the artwork of various unnamed alien species, it's far more restrictive like you and I said
for example there are no examples of human civilizations in the 41st millennium that aren't either chaos or imperium aligned, tau auxiliaries don't count
Well, there's the severan dominate but that's an ffg thing
so that's iffy
Even though the original fluff stated that there might be multiple human civilizations who just never made contact with the imperium in the eastern fringe (which has never technically been retconned), you wouldn't be able to tell unless you dug deep into 40k's fluff
very deep, on a meta level
The universe was also uh
it seems a bit more whimsical in the original 1987 rulebook despite also having a grittier presentation than modern 40k
Like, the designs are even more ott, there's tidbits like the eye of terror (at that time just a weird warp rift because chaos didn't exist) spewing out planets and the imperium bringing its rule to these worlds even if they're only in realspace for a few days
which is the caption for the iconic "cop marines" art
where that guy's against the wall
oh fug that one lmao
with the guy who just grafitied "Space Marines suck!" and got arrested for it
rightfully so
I'm drunk who wants to complain about 40k
you?
Shhhh
Are gland warriors still a thing in lore?
I think there was one that is less than 10 years old
What
you heard
Wdym you
none we're on discord
heck
or are we?
we are
i forgot the fucking rum I'm drinking is 40% alcohol so like
It's good I was doing shots anyway
I hate it
Tastes like shit
Should've gone to the liquor store beforehand
Gotten something good
Or to walmart idk
why drink it if it tastes like shit
Because
I want to get drunk
Why drink otherwise?
That's my philosophy
Outside of just
Social pressure sometimes
idk i dont drink
When someone else wants to drink but in moderation at particular sitting

being drunk feels overrated anyways
it is
everyone i know whos ever been drunk always regrets it after but does it again anyway
I have social anxiety of some kind or something
Possibly asperger's
Haven't gotten it checked
embrace the moody bitch lifestyle! that's what i do
I have been alone too long
Plus I have no irl friends in this area because I just moved
oof yeah, moving is painful
And my anxiety prevents me from going out like some weirdo
Who the fuck walks in somewhere practically asking for friends
Seems so weird
I guess im lucky in that im in the UK so i dont need to make new friends
yee it is tbh. I take ages to warm up to ppl so like, i cannot wrap my head around extroverted vibes
even if i move my friends will only be a few hours away at most
lmao yeah
My old home is 3 hours away so like
I know nobody outside of coworkers
It's kind of sucky but eh
i guess I'll make some eventually
i'd see if u can find any like, hobby-ish clubs you're interested in
There's a comic shop but like
Expose yourself to other people for long enough and it'll fall into place eventually
Hobby stores have always scared me
Irl my passion for these things is always buried
no trace can be discovered
why
Last time I went in a hobby shop was 2018.
Here we have a couple of like, super cosy tabletop wargaming places
v quiet and lowkey, not as hectic as proper hobby shops
I walked in, bought something, walked out.
Weirded out.
theres one near me that does like
i way prefer them
real good coffee
ooh
Very strange to see people irl who like the things I do
I live in the southern us so like
You don't see them
ah yeah
that makes some amount of sense then
here in the uk i feel nerdy stuff is quite a lot more normalised? we must have like 10 hobby stores in this city alone
or asperger's if I have it but my job involves public speaking so
maybe i don't
idk
a lot of them these tiny cute af corner shops
well I'm jealous
with warm lighting and like 2 feet area u can walk around in cus they've packed boxes for like 12 different games into an area the size of a walmart bathroom
and don't forget the like
cramped but not too cramped table squidged in the cornor
that smells faintly of fresh coffee still somhow
just very comfy
You may wanna get tested for asp if you can. Like, obvs there's no treatment for it or anything, it's not like ADHD which can have meds, but just knowing for a fact which disorder u have going on can help a lot with working around it
Well that'll cost some kind of copay and it'll take time away from me idk
i imagine just getting tested for smthn wouldn't be that expensive??
cam cost like
up to 1k just for a test
depending on the practice
yaaay privatised
I'd figure it out if u can. I got diagnosed when i was like 12-ish, would've been a lot more tricky if i hadn't been
welcome to america, ur free from
*checks notes
government funded social services.
yeehaw
Sometimes I wish we had the tech to just change ourselves in the span of a day and then switch back instantly
it'll never happen ofc
a genderfluid dream
the earth will become a wasteland while the billionaires found their mars colony
not good enough
god I wish tbh
all jokes aside
gonna matrix myself into a cottagecore utopia
idc if yall wanna use my body as a generator, i am okay with this
i need to change my gender and go to my crush's town, sing a song for him, then change back
give me the tech for it
i'd rotate in my grave fast enough to atleast power a house
eek
is he straight?
ah right
If he's not interested then there's nothing u can do to change that, probs best not to dwell on it if u can
even if there is odds are it's more effort and trouble than it's worth
yeah fair enough
Ppls interests change, especially over multiple years
im sorry who spoke the sacred word?
oh boy do i have an instant depression song for you
wat
i know how you feel is what im trying to say
Early orks looking like ramshackle nazis makes sense considering the football hooligan angle
i think this is supposed to be the scifi version of cops putting down a neo-nazi riot
lmao they got literally stahlhelms too
Looks like an old medieval Sallet but 40k
nevermind, i thought i'd seen that helmet on a genestealer before but it might have been a kitbash
An open faced one
Early marines had a wide variety of helmets and you almost got a sense that their armor, despite being standardized, might also be haphazard
In art
Not in minis
It's all salvaged stuff from better days
Kitbash a guard or skitarii head onto a marine?
This piece, with or without the decoration on top, kinda fits the aesthetic in that image
I was just discussing this with a friend but uhhh
When they did the big shift to 40k back in 2017 with 8th ed moving the timeline forward and redesigning the space marines and moving into updating other armies eventually
It shouldn't have been "40k but it's cleaner"
It should've been
"Let's take the modern stuff and try to combine that with the early 40k stuff and try to get the best of both worlds"
Would've been more characterful than gw doing the equivalent of taking a bottle of windex and spraying the franchise with it
