This guy's marine chapter worshipped the Emperor as a god, believed the Emperor was a giant frog and sought to spread this faith to anyone they came across. While making frog puns and going "ribbit" with their vox voice emitters
So we'd end up in situations where the guy's techmarine would pass fellowship tests on guardsmen when spreading his faith, and at one point he rolled so well so many times in a row that he pretty much convinced an entire settlement that the Emperor was a giant frog. It's the funniest shit I've ever seen in a 40k campaign

10'000 years later humanity still stands, but they have fallen onto the worst, most authoritarian regime possible to survive. They follow a belief that the emporer was a god, and that humanity is the only race with a right to rule the stars.
There are other races with their own motives as well, all equaly as horrible as humanity but usually backed by an understandable motivation in their own right.
The setting is massive so giving more detail is hard without being specific. Would you like to know how that works for the context of darktide?

So if you are okay with the spoilers I am going to go over some little bits from 2 books
First book in the series is about a planet split between tau and IG however ||it is also this arm of the taus first contact with genestealers nobody knows it yet. The tau have managed to peacefully occupy half of the world before IG regiments were sent in to restore order and theres a wall in place dividing both sides, with ambassadors present doing big diplomacy stuff in the background (the first section of the book is them attending an event at the governors palace with a mix from both sides). I love this one for showing a decent representation for an imperial diplomat who has learned tau life to better talk with them, but also small stuff like tau diplomats waving and making hand gestures to try and copy the things humans do to make people feel at ease||
A later book deals with the tau-imperial peace treaty signed during the tyranid threat. ||A chapter of the book is dedicated to a meeting between ambassadors where the tau do a lot of small things to try and get the upper hand. They use human servants for the cooks and to guide people around, they use tau chairs so that the imperials can't sit comfortably to impede concentration. its lots of small pieces that fall together to give the idea they do this a lot, and have learnt how to push buttons to get what they want||
