And according to the tabletop rpg (one of the rogue trader books i believe) there is a thing aliens can do to be registered with the imperium but they even say its almost a moot point cuz very few would probably recognize the branding and you still usually have to be around the human who is basicly sponsoring you at all times

Like at the end of the book, there was some warp fuckery mcguffin that was unleashed on an arena of Dark Eldar (and some space marines), and they saw things that reflected their deepest wants mixed with their deepest fears. Like a consumate warrior seeing they will never find a worthy opponent. A peaceful man who saw himself as a monster. Or an immortal who saw the death he so craved.

But chillaxed Dark Eldar dude only saw himself in the reflection. No different than looking in a mirror

Unrelated to lore at all, but the pricing model sucks when you look at it like an all at once expense, I get around it by painting models to a really high (personal) standard and I take awhile to do it, so I look at it like "Ok this week I could have gone out and done x or y but instead I decided to paint for the night" and you need to be able to ask yourself if that is something you are willing to do. It also helps if you buy eBay armies like orks or guard who are relatively cheaper/recasted you can easily (with time) strip them for like 2 dollars and do a ton of models
