Yeah that also is a big factor
wouldnt some spores still retain in the lung
immune system would prob kill it
stuck in the sticky fluid
It may but its also very likely to just get coughed out
eventually just absorbed into the system
Id imagine most
Im not sure how well one spore would survive against an immune system but Id imagine they're fairly resistant to infections and such so it may at least cause a bit of a ruckus before dying from the body or from the lack of nutrients
Id imagine however spores would grow fine on corpses
Since the spores seem to grow practically anywhere
dark, and moist
Basically anywhere
It's like pollen. Pollen doesn't get stuck in your lungs. You exhale it out or cough it out
Tbf it was possible for a fir tree to grow in someone's lung so its possible for a fungal spore to get stuck in
Now how long would that thing grow, probably not long
A seed is heavier than pollen
...because a seed is heavier
You'd try 100x harder to get that out
Before I start feeling the need to beat you with one of my medical books, on the subject of fungal spores, they will only grow if the immune system is weakened
The short story was better. The flimmaker made too many creative liberities
And im upset that all the criticisms of “E’s arguments were bad” were true-
Oh
Well now i gotta read more
This could mean the average person that isnt in the guard exposed to ork spores could become infected in the lungs
I say average person not in the guard cuz most of the people out in the Imperium are fairly poor and do sweatshop work
Not unless they have a severe immuno-deficiency issue. Like cancer or aids
For Aspergillosis, "weakened immune system" isnt "you didnt eat enough and are overworked/underweight. This is "your immune system is next to non-existent due to a severe medical condition
Yeah but then again, that's Aspergillosis and not Ork spore fungus
Ultimately we can only apply so much of what we know of human-fungal infections on the inside of the body before it just becomes "It just works cuz sci fi"
Like I dont know, the fungus could be opportunistic but there's so little info on it other than the ork variant likes to grow in shaded area, that ork spores in general are really resilient and come in all shapes and sizes
i just thought it would be funny if an ork grew inside a human and as the human died the ork ate all the mush inside and wore his skin to blend into humans u dont have to fight
It would be!
But I personally cant see an ork of all things doing it
Maybe gretchin, snotlings, or smaller squigs
ork flayed ones
In the latest xeno biology book, the janus bro said there was so little known about the reproduction of orks that he wasnt even sure about them spreading like fungus
But thats from an opinion of a rogue trader
like how we didnt know how eels reproduced
So the Old One's made the tyranids or nah?
I like that we know more of Tyranid reproduction whether thats from genestealers or Tervigons than actual orks
Also doubt it
Chaos is like the biggest baddie of the 40k verse and for some reason the Tyranids are just fine? something's fishy
Just looked this up, what the fu k
There's a theory that a few old one's escaped out of galaxy
So it's like a theory on top of a theory
It's hard to think that the Old One's were THAT powerful and advanced and still confined to the galaxy
I saw a theory that they were made as a last resort option by the Old Ones. Given their growth pattern similarities to the Orkz
Basically, the idea is that the Old Ones made them to consume all life in the galaxy, but preserve all of their genomes. Which would allow the Old Ones to rebuild life either after they defeated the Ctans or somewhere else
Tyranid hive mind so woke it makes the Warp seize. Kha’Bhanda: ‘And I took that personally.’
Its why the Tyranids started heading for the galaxy when they saw the Pharos activated. Since that was a sign the necrons were still active, but they received no "stop" order from the Old Ones
Tyranids being from the Old Ones would make cool rivalry with Necron lore
It makes the most sense to me. Hence the Tyranids thing of storing the genetic information of what they consume
The building blocks of life. What the Old Ones would need to recreate life
They’re intergalactic locusts
It would also explain Catachan
I find that more terrifying than them being bio weapons
Since its already been theorized (in-universe even) that some of Catachan's wildlife seems like some kind of "proto"-Tyranid lifeforms
Hinting that Catachan may have been the testing ground for the Old Ones testing the tyranids
Where could I find this information, friend?
Eh Id rather they focus on Tyranids just being something really otherworldly and unknown to everyone than giving them a set origin
Makes them that much scarier
A "good idea gone horribly wrong" is more befitting of the setting
Intended to be the final solution to save all life in the galaxy (in some form), so that it may be rebuilt. They are now its greatest threat. As they will consume all life.....but there is noone to rebuild it
Ehhhh sure but it kinda dampens their style
I doubt they were created by the old ones since the necrons are literally the only faction they suck against
I like them being unknown beings, even alien to the aliens that plague the galaxy
That just makes the Tyranids more creepy
They werent made to fight the Necrons
Why, if your job was to save the DNA of all life in the galaxy, would you go off to fight some robo-boyos?
I like the idea that they are unknown beings. Cause it means that their could be other alien races outside the galaxy.
Maybe some even more dangerous that the nids
This said, I'm pretty alright with the Tyranids being akin to a yearly locust that comes to the galaxy and goes over thousands and thousands of years
there are supposedly some insane powerful alien species at the edge of the galaxy
the imperium fought a war against them it lost a shit ton of marines
Rangdan Xenocides
dunno if the aliens where completely wiped out
The Rangda are fox furry, btw
Who had crystal-like weapons that would also poison the victim
theres also the gas xenos that take over the body of humans
I don't think the Tyranids were made to fight the Necrons. In all of the Old One's wisdom, they probably didn't anticipate them coming back. I think the Tyranids were made to bring a clean slate to the galaxy for the Old One's return but then I guess that leaves the question of "why?" whatever Old One's remain in another galaxy, why not just stay there?
That's what I said
I haven't kept up with it much, will the Tyranids be in Darktide? They would be so cool as enemies
Atm doesn't look to be
If they do come as DLC by some smidge, I'm guessing as Genestealer Cults
Otherwise don't bring your hopes up for it
They just seem like they would be so easy to do since they can kind of be any special infected Fat Shark needed them to be
But I guess most of 40k is too
They were thinking on doing Orks but let's just wait til things come out first
dunno if its them
its the guys that did this https://warhammer40k.fandom.com/wiki/Ghoul_Stars
That would make the most sense since 4 guys wouldn't be able to hold back even a single hive ship
Ye
Necrons
Plus they're also the most doable since advanced bioforms can probably kill most people in a couple swoops?
Not that it's much different from Genestealers
its something even the inquisition censored
"Inquisitorial investigation has discovered that much of the extant evidence relating to this threat has been censored or purposely destroyed, but there are contradictory indications which describe the nature of the threat as both a "Star-spawned plague" that swept away scores of worlds and as "Nightmare engines" slaughtering whole sectors."
"Star-spawned plague" - The Flayer Virus
i guess its possible
It was censored by the Inqusition, because at the time (M34) the necrons were basically unheard of and they wanted to keep such horrors under wraps
11 entire chapters lost and a bunch of dead planets
Yeah even a single genestealer would be a huge threat
"By their mortal sacrifice and unmatched valour unmade that which cannot die and so preserved the most holy realm of Mankind."
"that which cannot die" - Necrons
Isnt their whole world only inhabitaded by flayed ones at this point?
So i doubt their weird teleportation/repair shit works anymore
idk i like to think it was some sort of crazy xenos empire
Flayed ones can still phase out.
Sure?
Flayed Ones got their own pocket dimension thing IIRC
Oh right
A single flayed one porting to a tomb world can quickly infect the entire population
Yeah thats why they usually keep them for battle but destroy them after the battle is won iirc
Dunno if destroy but I wouldn't be too surprised
The Flayed Ones head back to their pocket dimension
Usually taking whatever corpses and scraps of flesh they can carry
Yeah just read it on the wiki "Any Necron suspected of harbouring the Flayer infection is banished or destroyed before it can become contagious."
But they just use their pocket dimension thing
Usually
If they are from a tomb world. Ones that already exist are left alone
Flayed ones arent actually mindless. So pissing them off could see them attack a tomb world or even dynasty. Risking the entire dynasty being infected
Negotiations with them can be tricky
"Despite this, it is common for an Overlord to order the execution of any Flayed One survivors after the battle has been won."
Fair. Stupid. But fair
So as far as i read it they murder them before they can piss off back into their pocket dimension if possible
Im reading it as "if they can get away with it without pissing off other Flayed Ones"
hence why its "common" and not "standard protocol"
do they ever say what happened to the enslavers that killed the old ones?
A few of them survived iirc
@ashen zenith Also it was the flayed ones. Because there is a whole dynasty of flayed ones in the Ghoul Stars
Wait, what? What happened here?
that sounds like an omega threat
They still pop up from time to time
They fucked the necrons up badly so the necrons went to sleep in the first place. They were hoping that without anything to enslave they would just die off. IIRC
Yeah. A single one is enough to quarentine an entire world (at best) or exterminatus it
are they rogue trader or do they still get brought up in modern fluff?
They use retarded psykers to open a portal so more enslavers can enter realspace
They live in the warp
So are they demons?
They are still brought up in fluff
enslavers are like warp demons or something that wiped out most of intelligent life after the war in heaven
Yes but also no
Oh shit I need to look into this
They are of the warp. Not daemons. but also they are also material
So they dont need warp juice to exist in the Materium
I remember them from that one Civ like game but I never thought much about them
Civ?
Civilization. There's a 40k game that's similar and there are Enslavers as a neutral enemy that spawn on the map
Warhammer 40k Gladius
another kinnda weird thing is that they invaded real space because the war in heaven shook up the warp badly, but why didnt they invade during the birth of slanesh?
Reasons i guess
Btw there was a flayer king miniature??
Or is it just a conversion?
Are there rules for that? Because if so il start a flayed one army lmao
Damn 😦
I BEG YOU GW
Yea
Just got Skorpek and Orphydian destroyers
They're both very melee
And they got a Skorpek lord
Yea
@ashen zenith Finally found the thing about the Catachan Devil. Page 17
Context. While I agree they were somehow related to the tyranids. I dont think they are a lost vanguard. Given they are so well integrated with Catachan, instead of conquering it
U where talking to Roen not me
I mean its possible, without any synapse creatures & especially without a Norn they would most likely go feral and not have the drive to deconstruct a planet. Most planets would prob be filled with nids over time but a place like Catachan would rein them in more. Didn't know the Catachan Devils were believed to be related to modern Tyranids, that's really interesting actually wrote a similar idea when thinking about making a kinda Proto-nid army.
For me, its also more that, from the appearance of the Jungle Devil, its not a genestealer bioform
Which serve as the vanguards
It seems more related to the Ravener. Like a proto-type Ravener
Yeah it def changes the lore a bit, but its possible that the "vanguard" was from a strain that hadn't adapted the Genestealer Bioform yet however old that would have to be. Yeah they would def be based on the Ravener.
Thing is. Raveners are made for assaults. They are a main battleline tyranid form.
The point I was making earlier. On the "Old Ones made the nids" is that Catachan was used as a testing ground for them. Hence its extremely dangerous fauna. With the Jungle Devil literally being a left over from the tests. A prototype Tyranid
interesting
Yeah it would only make sense if they were in an all out fight with something, but with all the species that have risen and fallen it's reasonable that a mainline bioform might be brought into battle against some ancient race, maybe even the Old Ones. Although I will say that similar to what I wrote for my Nids I would assume there would be more than one feral bioform on the planet and not just the Devil.
We also havent seen many of the other fauna on Catachan
Saw a face eater recently tho
That's true
and honestly, a Catachan Barking toad sounds very 'nid-ish to me
Much like their use of what are essentially living bombs
and it would be excellent for use in the nid's style of battle. A very small creature (thus doesnt use much biomass) that makes a very big boom
Do you think if the Imperium could find some old Abominable Intelligence they could get a concrete plan on how to deal with the Tyranids?
would be heresy, but desperate times
No. Because either the AI doesnt want to help them, or they destroy it, or both
Catachan Face Eater, btw
Yeah the toads can even take down power armor and the effects of the poison explosion def sound very nidy/bioplasmey.
Yeah. which is a full assault tactic. Not a tyranid vanguard force. Now you are seeing what I am seeing
I mean if we're taking Genestealers out of the equation with an older more primitive strain than any nid Vanguard would basically be an assault fleet in itself, so really it gives credence to both theories.
"Vanguard Drone Ships are Destroyer-class[3] long-range scouts of the Tyranid Hive Fleets.
They range far ahead of the main fleets, seeking out worlds suitable for consumption and then seeding them with infiltration organisms like Genestealers and Lictors. Vanguard Drones are rarely in contact with their home fleet, returning only to relay scouting information and replenish their cargo"
They use infiltrators. Not full assault forces
Yeah I know but if we're talking about something that could have possibly seeded/invaded Catachan it would have to be really old so the typical Nid doctrine might not apply concerning troop type/deployment.
Hence why i think that Catachan may be where the Tyranids originated. Their testing ground. When the Old Ones got the data they were looking for, they left the world and made the Tyranids proper. Before sending them outside the galaxy to keep them hidden from the Necrons
So the beasts on Catachan arent a divergent evolution of Tyranids, but the tyranids' own precursors
Ohh its def possible, I think both theories def have merit, I'm just a bigger fan of the extragalactic Xeno like the Yuuzhan Vong from Star Wars Legends.
I dont much apply stuff outside of 40k to 40k. The "Old Ones did it" fits better with 40k's constant theme of "The best intentions gone horribly wrong"
I agree that the less they explain the better. They could maybe explain why they seem to be attracted to psychic energy and let the fandom theorize more, but just telling us their origins would probably kill the vibe
Because Necrons cant generate psychic energy. But organic races can. So the Tyranids head for psychic energy since that normally indicates more biomass
fascinating
Yeah Im not a fan of it being laid bare. To me, there is enough evidence based on their mannerisms, as well as things like the fauna of catachan, to feel comfortable in the "Old Ones made them" theory
What really matters is us getting more Catachan fauna lol, I wonder if there's a Gargoyle equivalent.
Yeah Drakebats def sound like more primitive Gargolyes, and apparently are huge compared to Gargolyes. Now I want a Drakebat model lol.
I think a thing that points to Catachan fauna being proto-nids is that the Jungle Devil is highly territorial. They dont work together at all.
If 1 Jungle Devil sees another one, they will drop whatever they are doing in order to fight off the invader
If they were just de-evolved Raveners. They would still have some semblance of cooperation
While if they were prototypes, this is easily explained as a design flaw
Is not very different from any other highly territorial animal irl, it would just depend on how feral the nid was/has become. Which going on either theory would have a very very long time to happen.
Also I wonder if the Shambling Mamomorphs are in any way related to Carnifex..
Thing is the territorialness is the issue. Even a feral'd Ravener still works well with other Raveners in order to hunt down prey
(also Jungle Devils will attack the corpses of other Jungle Devils. Which is used as a tactic by the Catachans to distract them)
Like these guys seem programmed to attack other Jungle Devils
Didn't know that had been established concerning feral Raveners, which is a point but if were hypothetically talking about a Ravener brood that was maybe marooned for eons its possible in changing into the form we see today as Catachan Devils that their behavior when feral also changed. It wouldn't be out of the norm for evolution. The territorial behavior could have stemmed from a lack of food and competition between Raveners.
How are the toads supposed to kill everything within a kilometer radius? That wouldnt work
If Catachan wasnt so...well full of life. Id think that too. But while Catachan is certainly dangerous, food for its native inhabitants isnt in short supply
10 meters maybe but a fucking kilometer??
big toad
What were they thinking
Hence why they seem more like a specifically designed weapon instead of some kind of natural evolution
But they really went over the top with them
Thats just ridiculous
Jesus how do you spell that word
T.T
Again. a biological weapon instead of a natural evolution
Wait how large is that toad?
@open marsh Yes but the type and size of available prey still plays a large factor for the size & behavior of the predator, and given how dangerous Catachan is its possible that feral proto nids might have to adapt their behavior.
Small enough to be hard to spot by hiding under rocks
big rocks
Im not denying the possibility, Im just saying that them being programmed to do what they do just makes a little more sense
Then its completely impossible to kill everything within a kilometer radius
VX Nerve Toad
And since it isnt warp born you cant use that as an excuse
you're thinking too hard over this
Yeah im just a little pissed about how far they crossed the line of possibilities this time
.........
Il stop :c
It isnt warp born
Whats worse than that?? Except everything warp related ofc
They have a basic explanation for everything
Exept how these toads are supposed to work
A giant living tank with a penis cannon on its back that fires exploding young
Not as bad as a regular toad that somehow explodes and spreads toxic acid over every single centimeter of a 1 kilometer radius
Its the same way an eversor assassin explodes when they die
But explosions work because preasure builds up. I just dont see how a squishy toad could do that
It really isnt in 40k.
It kinda is
Also they used to have tabletop rules
With the scriveners being allowed to run riot with their imaginations,
some of the most fearsome, grotesque, and downright strange beings take centre stage.
Well the lesser ones do
I like that they say the Great Toads dont have rules, because the second someone fired a bolter the whole board would get wiped
And yeah it basically reduces everything in the area into raw biomass
So the equivalent of Rocks Fall in Rogue Trader is just You scared a toad lol.
Wait how do they even survive? If any threat just results in them nuking themselves (and there are a damn lot of threats on catachan) how do they reproduce?
This was actually one of the later editions
4th edition I think
Presumedly, like the Catachans, everything else on the planet learned to feckin avoid them if at all possible
@peak hamlet I'm assuming fast breeding rates and very large egg clutchs, there are real world examples just on a smaller scale like exploding termites.
^ that too
They are the peak of the WTFBOOM meme
i used that as my wake up signal for awhile
traumatic
i started waking up to the quiet beeps before the WTF
Jesus christ
and a frantic rush to turn the alarm off before
@open marsh I'm honestly surprised Nurgle hasn't tried to make some nurglfied Barking Toads, which means they might be nids.
I'm almost certain they are nids. The question comes down to are they evolved from nids or are they prototype nids.
If they would be nids they would use them, or at least something similar
Their strongest spore mines dont even get close to killing everything within a kilometer radius
Hence my belief that they are prototype nids. Since reducing everything in a 1km radius would be a problem even for an invading nid force.
Like they seem like a good idea on the surface. But I can't see MANY problems the Nids could have if they actually tried to use such weapons
They could drop them from flying beasts
Plus it just turns everything into biomass mud and thus consumable
chunking terrified toads at the enemy
That's what I am thinking. But the damned things are too unstable to actually fire
ye right now
they might not have been once upon a time
or they never actally got to that point
as you said, if they are protonids
Yeah the unstable bit could have been an evolutionary trait to help combat other feral nids.
Yeah. That's the issue. Figuring out which way the evolutionary line goes
I'm still on the Protonid idea. Since what we know of nids (as they are now. Admittedly) they use genestealers in their vanguards. Like the Ymgarl genestealers
And the things in Catachan seem to be dedicated assault forces
Actually the Ymgarl are a good example. Since they are also a proto-nid. A sort of genestealer 1.0 that is so out of date that the Tyranid's refuse to consume them. For risk that the genes the Ymgarl have will weaken them by reverting them to an earlier version. They are too unstable
Yes but if were talking about possible Old One made Nids or just ones that are really really old they would both still predate the Ymgari Genestealers by a lot.So this era of proto-nid we are speculating about could have been a lot more aggressive meaning any probe was a spear until they refined their methods & created Genestealers. That's something that could explain the types of proto-nids we see, either way it goes so far back its hard to tell with Nids since they change so much. I wonder what the earliest known encounter with Genestealers is amongst xenos like the Eldar.
The problem I have with that is that its against what we observe with nids. While yes, we can say "maybe they didnt use genestealers at the time", there is just no evidence of that.
I just hate it because not everything has to be connected to the fucking Old Ones
just let some races be their own thing
Tau
?
Neck Ron
Tire
Neck Ron Tier
But yeah i always dislike the "old ones made em lel" thing
im pretty sure at some point GW is gonna reveal that was the deal but until then its pretty eh for me
I kinda like it. The weapons of ancient foes, fighting a war that was long since over
Now just causing needless destruction
Its how we got the Orkz, the Chaos Gods, Eldar (especially their downfall), and Humanity.
Weapons made for the War in Heaven and never told to stop
Again, its really not that much of a big deal.
Like okay, old ones made them to erase the galaxy, thats it i guess.
(and now the weapons are fighting each other. which is great)
I much prefer them just being this outer-galactic threat that came to the milky way out of pure accident
Same
Its what makes it so grimdark.
The old ones made them to erase the galaxy....but save the genetic information so that it could be used to recreate life after the Ctan and Necrons were dealt with
It really doesnt though
But now, without the Old Ones to tell them to stop.....they are just a massive threat
I seriously see nothing dark about it lol
Necrons pretty much are doing the same thing
Ill summerize:
Old Ones: makes Tyranids as a back up plan to save life in the galaxy
Tyranids: instead becomes one of the, if not the biggest threat to life galaxy
I mean even if they swept the galaxy clean the necrons would still be alive
Which kinda misses the point
So i doubt they created them
Better than "Oh the tyranids just happened to be passing by and just happened to see the pharos (thus signs of necron activity), and that just happened to be exactly what they are looking for. Its totally random bro. lol"
Thats dumb
Likewise to the Old Ones thing
the galaxy isnt as small as people want to make it out to be
the Old Ones dont have to be at the center of everything lol
they're one of the laziest plot devices out there to begin with
Also people forgett the hive mind
Plus the issue of Tyranids already having a presence in the galaxy. again. Like Catachan.
So....?
That literally could just be earlier probes by the hive mind
just as the lore says
Hive Mind: I know Ive already sent probes into that galaxy earlier. But fuck it. Im just gonna sit here until I see a random flashing light for no reason
That can be easily blamed on dumb writing on GW's part added by how they perhaps do the same scouting technique with other galaxies nearby
its not really that weird
Yes. Like I said. The Tyranids just being a random passer by is dumb.
its less dumb than it being old ones
^

having literaly multiple galaxys worth of lore be based entirely on the macinations of a single race
New headcanon: Orkz are protonids that were sent here ahead of the hive fleet
Because Old Ones making them is dumb

Muh old unz
honestly id rather they just retconn old ones at this point
literal garbage lore that adds nothing
bar being a mcguffin faction
Same tbh, they're just a relic of warhammer fantasy
Main reason I like nids and tau
Replace them with Cadians
No old ones
^
Well one of the reasons

Theyre gonna make every minor xeno a nid actually
Sent by the hivefleet probably
Cadians are actually deep cover genestealers. Explaining why they are fucking everywhere

And take over everything
correction: guard sculpts basically dont exist
Worked for Elder Scrolls, your an elf, and your an elf an your an elf.....Opera levels of elf.

That sounds like hershey
Yeah they do. If you like Cadians. If you wanted anything else: get fucked. Buy Cadians
Speaking of which, I built some brood brothers recently and good god guard sculpts are ancient. I mean, I knew, but actually building them
The instructions are in black/white and arent numbered
Cadians are the real GSC.
They grab and assimilate your regiment to themselves like Invasion of the Body Snatches
the cadian scults are old and garbage
cadians themselves are fine, no need to be salt
Thats what Im saying. Cadians are deep cover genestealers
LOL
proud i just finish 55 guard
Cadians are probs my 2nd fave regiment just cuz some of the best named chars in the guard
its
Good lord
its not gud
but ye cadians are fine, they have some decent lore and interesting people
atleast they arent krieg
or old ones
i did my flak in dark bronze with grey uniforms
^
aight one sec
They are fine. I just have a problem with non-cadian regiments either being squatted. Or retconned to be cadian clones
Terran Regiments then
Terran Regiments now
Its mostly because theres no way theyd support every regiment as minis. And they want to show off what can be bought
Having every regiment would be space marine levels silly
I think conversion kits would be good tho
Just with little bits and such to maie a regiment
Malcador's Chosen. His elite guards. Were you hoping for some kind of special unique look to show they are the bodyguards of one of the most important people in the Imperium and an extremely powerful psyker?
Nope, you get Cadians. But hey, gold trim! Thats interesting and unqiue, right?
Conversion kits do seem like something they could have done more of to help fill out more of the Guard regiments.
Thats what Im hoping for
Also.....
https://i.redd.it/v8482b9iqyj61.png
Hell they already had the Solar Auxilia models
Updsted casts and convert kits
Solar Auxilia? Whats that? Here, have more Cadians
I guess there really is only Cadians
also is that the solar auxilia sigil on his chest?

Who needs a teleporter when you have a massive drill you & your buddies can ride in.
Lmao
@summer niche You know a Krieger would try it lol.
the transformation has begun, it's merely a matter of time till they become cadians
truly grimdark
medic always complained it wasnt standard gear since not everyone used it
GW fixing that
A cadian by any other name is still a cadian
theyd need to be from cadia for that
Basically what its becoming

Pretty much.
Irony that GW is retconning all of the IG to be the guys whose actual world got destroyed
I know
the cadians got so pissed after losing cadia they started turning other regiments cadian
aparently not
Omg dude
dear gods!
But the other regimentd arent being retconned
No you are fine. You arent from cadia. Even tho you will be made to look and fight like Cadians. That there will be no functional difference between you and a cadian. Obviously you are totally different. Just because "Cadia" isnt slapped on your regiment label
They just dont have models
Like the regiment system isnt leaving guard rules anytime soon
Give it time. They already retconned the Solar Auxilia and Terran regiments
Regimental orders and stuff are pretty big to their identity
I dont even think mosy people know those exist
snorts some cadia remains and become cadian
Its a good example of how the setting outgrows the tabletop.
I dont even think theyve existed on TT
I want to say regiments have been guard rules since 2nd ed???
Yeah
In-lore literally almost every imperial world thats worth something has a regiment
naturally you cant produce a regiment for everyone in real life so it hits a wall instantly
Its because thwres literally no way theyd produce a mini line for every regiment, even moreso for irrelevant tiny ones
Yeeee basically
The BEST to expect is a conversion kit for the actually big ones
Which would be good
If guardsman sold like chocolates in a store constantly im sure GW would spam new regiments constantly
but yeah there just isnt a demand for it much
what was it
space marines sell more than every other faction combined by double
loyalist rines
in b4 GW cuts the crap and just turns 40k into Horus Heresy 2. Not even having Chaos Marines anymore. Just loyalists and traitor. Who are the same models with different paint schemes
I remember that joke from way back when primaris were released
No guard. No sisters. No xenos. Just marines
Bold of you to assume thats not whats happening now
Tbf release schedule usually swings from xenos to space marines every 4 years or so
Following the chart
And new xeno codices are good
When was the last Craftworld Eldar release, again?
Xenos as a whole
But yes craftworlds in pain
I do expect asuryani releases in the next year tho
when was the last sob update prior to overhaul?
Or atleast a good codex
the update will come at some point in 9e id imagine its just waiting
Yee same
and hoping they dont give gav the reigns for their lore again
Im not too much of a doomer with GW anymore
And yess god
Remove thorpe
And eldar improve
Its really saddening that most eldar lore is thorpe
theres a ton of lines where the majority of the models are from the 90s
Ive been getting into craftworlde lately and some of tur older stuff is cool
like guard, orks, eldar
Like aspect shrines and such
aspect shrines are so good
gav covers it briefly in his other eldar trilogy he did
I just wish more focused on them instead of ynnari
I hope we see new Phoenix lord models along with their associated aspect warriors
Id love new dark reapers
The Ynnari were the attempt to "Ultramarine" or "Cadian" the Eldar. pulling all the different subfactions of Eldar into 1
🍑
Fuegan and Maugan Ra
Yess
im wondering if the banshee update was testing the water, but i dont wanna get my hopes up
Maugan Ra is the chaddiest eldar
Hes so thicc
Oh man I hope so
I lov Jain and the new banshees
It kinda was, but the actual kit was garbage aside from the banshees
so nobody almost bought it
so GW was like
"LOL i guess nobody likes xenos then"

GW: "Hmm...nope....dont like that" hits with the Retcon stick
"Thats better"
ngl
Swooping hawk wings are goodo
If they are helmeted they are okay imo
Its just old GW face syndrome
And yeah eldar grav stuff is hightier
old gw women models were just
Im considering getting a wave serpent and making it float via magnet
I mean I understand it took the industry as a whole a good while to get women right but gw was on another level
i wanna get a falcon grav tank and paint it
see how it goes compared to my first vehicle i ever painted
Its a thing as old as time for them as a company
its one of the reasons why the female marine models were also so awful
most improved award goes to
(only because the bottom was so low)
Not weirdly spindly eldar enought
Someone did full cosplay of a banshee and she looked 👌
Looks like a regular human
Eldar can be BEEFY
Huh
Big
Thats the armor i guess
Their muscles are more or so stretched, its like letting go of a bow string when they jump into action.
its partly armour but also bodyfat isnt bulk
Eldar can be strong too, the leaf push over stereotype is kinda just applied to them from other settings
eldar are like lithe humans, they arent rediculously stretched and gaunt
Yeee but sadly big eldar arent portrayed much in art
I demand new dark reaper models.
i.e. this art is official gw
Oo thats good
U right
(its from a rogue trader adventure)
Xenology is dated as hell
^
Its not rlly relevant anymore
But its still canon
And GW wants to make them look alien but as hard as they try i couldnt care less what they want basically.
its not cannon
It is, yes
The art skele posted is canon
LIIVI and his eldar GF
Give me a more recent source and i will accept it. Just officcial artwork isnt enought to prove your point
Yeah
every other official art shows otherwise
Yeeee basically this lol
Yeah thats stupid
But i really wouldnt take artwor as a source if its stated in codexes and shit that they look spindly
actually on he discussion of eldar and crystals
think i said before
but man being a farseer sucks
Their codex art doesnt havr them that spindly
OY. It soft confirmed Skavens exist on necromunda
10/10
Best book
Yeah but the presentation of the entire book sucks
and its almost 90% lore we already know
40k Skavens. On Necromunda. All else is irrelevant
No.
Skaven's niches are already occupied in 40k by a few factions
Why are there skaven what
Abhumans, yes
But they arent evolved from humans. They are evolved from rats
Just like ratlings or ogryns
yes?
they are still beast like men
Not evolved from humans = not abhuman
My point was that beastmen are classified as abhumans just like orgyns or ratlings. Skaven would fall into the same category
Feethumans.
okay?
Nope. because these Skaven arent evolved from humans
what actual difference does that make tot heir function
You cannot be an abhuman unless you are a subspecies of human
are they not beasts in the shape of man?
Can you source me that real quick? Becaus just because they didnt in fantasy doesnt mean they dont do in 40k
dont do what
Evolve from humans
Its the definition of what an abhuman is
Bro. You said they didnt evolve from humans. That might be the case for fantasy but as long as it isnt stated to be the case for 40k they would be way more likely to be just a stable mutation and thus abhuman. Thats why i was asking for a source
You are missing my question. Was it stated in the book??
Yes
Ok thanks
From Liber Xenology
ill check the book in a min for u hobo
Im still confused on what exactly he is looking for
No need, he just posted it
Oh there we go then
I just wanted to know if it was just an assumption of you or actually stated in the book but i got my answer
Would be fine if we just get a few as mercenaries
Yeah. They should just replace all necromunda factions with cadians
Since they dont seem to be stable enought to be a faction. As far as i got it from the text they just seem to be a few random mutations which resulted in intelligent rats

That and skaven already having their unique roles filled
Necromunda doesnt have Orkz
Orks arent mutants
Necromunda does have Cults
Which are so similar with the They Came From Below motif, that GW uses VT music in their trailers
necromunda has everything
Doesnt have: "horde with warpy tech and the power of insanity"
itll have orks somewhere
yeah. Its got Skaven
Skaven are fine as a fantasy/AoS meme
Honestly genestealer cults are already kinda 40k skaven
Yeah p much
If you think about it
lack fun warpy insanity tech
Skavens motifs are already filled by orkz/GSC
There are no orkz on necromunda
Yeah but they just grow under your city/planet and then rush up to murder everything
The Skaven are on Necromunda
Big rat
Greentime baby
Unless that role is taken by Skaven.
They arent """really""" skaven tho, just humanoid mutant rats that loosely resemble the fantasy skaven
Ork gang with 1920 madioso suits LUL
Necromunda now has Skaven, it doesnt need Orkz
Yeah thats good enough.
Where orkz
on necromunda, silly
Where is that said
https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Nautiloid what the fuck is this? I mean a snail isnt really a huge threat to anybody. Just making it huge and giving it tentacles might look cool but is utterly stupid
I LOVE THAT
And I want it as a model now
If it was one, I'd buy 5 and make a snail race nid list
I really like its looks too but i just dont get its purpose
Dont need it. just use Orkz
looks like a tyranid
literaly started as an ork planet
Just play tyranid

Ork moment
According to another point of view, it is not Orks but a brief defiance of the former Necromunda's human colony against the coming of the Imperium unleashed a war that made an ash wastes from were hive-cities rise.
There really is only Waaagh.
Da One True Git
Wasnt actually orkz. it was a human uprising that actually put up a good fight. So the Imperium covered it up as "freeing them from Orkz"
necromunda ork gang when
Soon
give em the water guild mech as armour
Doesnt exist. But Necromunda Skaven do
Accept the truth
just ignore the fact that it wasnt orks and still add them to necromunda
Biggie cheese
ork gang hype tho
All I got out of this entire argument:
lame. just go play GorkaMorka
woah
I heard that the necromunda gangs were so strong they could take on the emperor
weird way to say the most crazy awesome shit in 40k
hive worlds are neat, but they try and fit so much in one space it starts making no sense
Honestly an ork as a mercenary would be dope, he could just have been knocked down on a boarding attempt, then locked away and escaped somehow once they reached necromunda.
This.
Also this.
Necromunda wants to looks so special but it just becomes dumb
I do like that my neophytes can be used in another game
Stop shitting on muh necromunda!!! :c

🥲
damn
That actually hurt me, i might need a moment for myself now
im sorry hobo, lmao
No. You arent allowed fun. You are allowed to play Cadians, and maybe Orkz
can we get an f in chat
Creed kicked over his sand castle with a deep striked titan
https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/mediawiki/images/0/05/VanguardDroneship.jpg old tyranid ships had antennas
What

Love that
Creed looks too unique. He should look like a standard Cadian. Because thats what its devolved to
Im a big fan of the pimp patriarch and the limos
1 sec found the tyranid ship chart, look at this crack
YES
👀
Im dying XD
I like it too but BFG2 designs are better
Speaking of stupid check this mofo out: https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Dactylis
oh 100% they are an improvement
what the-
@atomic pelican New nid for you
new patriarch model
The old one looked better. You cant change my mind
Pimp genestealer is just perfection
lol
Hightier
A unique and interesting model? Not allowed
😔
Tho I think the Genestealer Patriarch in the novel Belisarius Cawl The Great Work was described as being like the rogue trader model
He literally looked like a fat purple guy
Calm down
The new model is obj better
medic just wants to be angy
Yee
I the new one looks way better ofc but the old mini had way more personality. Not that fitting for genestealers but it had more personality
Plus there was a version which was wielding a sword iirc
Lemme search that real quick
Yeah. Kinda how the Patriarch in The Great Work was described
But they could have at least given the new one decoration like rings or chains
He has decor
this guy actually squatting down and laying one out
AGH
We need Doggo Beastmen back
he also has a khorne symbol
Btw does anybody know why the old gsc had khorne symbols?
Thats not just on this mini, you also see it in artwork
There were Chaos GSC
prob an old lore bit hobo
Literally covered in cult icons base + has a marine head
theres lots of stuff with old nids that has been updated
What? The eavy metal one doesnt
Can you show it to me
he big brain
See no decoration here
Yeah
The old one did
Yeah he is just looking like a plain genestealer which is quite boring
man can't have bling?
not appreciating his dick blade tho
It is stated in codexes that they offer him gifts and all, regular genestealers even get painted by cultists
I love the overly phallic thing
Yes. But the patriarch doesnt speak. They legit have the magus act as a intermediary
He doesnt have to be thick af, just a few decorations
Very few cultists ever even see the patriarch
Like the lizardmen do for example
you can see a pendant in the nid symbol shape on the one i posted
Yeep
But do yall agree that rings, chains or whatever jewlery would look dope right?
na not on the monster
Which is good
Fair
if they did a gsc noble/governor tho
"The genestealer patriarch advanced on him, huge, bloated and unstoppable."
thatd be swag
Just think he would look more interresting
Yee patriarchs and purestrains should be the most alien looking
I did see a GSC looking thing on rumor engine
And a noble would b p cool since they exist but not on TT
😩
Some cultist paint decorations and symbold on the stealers tho, going to do that on mine
oh 100% add painted symbols n stuff to him
How many armies do you build hobo
"The genestealer saw Thracian’s gambit and was out of its throne swift as lightning,"
The Great Work patriarch even had the 1st edition's throne
but they arent exactly going to drape the sewer monster in finery
it wouldnt last
I have: space marines, dark angels, tyranids, gsc, chaos space marines and death guard
Good lord
But i only paint/build csm, death guard and dark angels
The others are just backlog
Oh and i have demons of nurgle too
100% run warhammer 40k
that's alot of extra pieces to eat
Chad
I might get into old world once they release it
But only if the empire doesnt look too fantasy
But yeah all of my armies are just small forces, about 1000 pts
Ahh ayt
ye i miss old empire
Same
