It looks like it has a jetpack
Wait is this thing sentient
oh my.
^
I want skaven 40k
Seraphon ship is going to blast through reality and then glass a planet
Then maybe 40 skinks
okay no its not sentient
DAMN
its just used as a guard by gangs
crocodylinae deformum lol
no hell no
Y no
It's for his snacks.
ive had enough pain dealing with them in fantasy
holy fuck I'm an absolute unit
You're literally in a Vermintide discord
The nukes are now dawi
More or less

Hm, no eldar pages
says darktide
Rip eldar, left out again LUL
No no look!
Owo
OH
Being the spiritual sequel to another tide that comes to mind that has to do with skaven
FUCK YEAH
I'm blind
NoOOO
Lol
"most commonly found at the feet of primaris lieutenants."
Why not m- oh
big sad
eldar get a single page
LOL
then its mixed eldar between all subtypes
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOF
I fucking knew it
Ofc its a big project of GW
Is that pleasures/pasttimes thing a culture writeup or smthing?
I was wondering that myself
What do they get up to
Playing the harp
Brooding
Schemeing
memeing
Making plans
MOTHERFUCKER
IM GONNA PLACE SOME CAR BOMBS
Fuck phone is going to die

Layers nerds
rip eldar
Laters*
They're gonna reduce their codex to a pamphlet with 9e
so
Dilara on the phone rn "Get the fertiliser"
its a page on eldar in general
then 3 pages each to the deldar and craftworlders
then a page dedicated to "solitaire" which is a speciifc eldar boi
Ahh
Harlequin?
That sounds like a harlequin name
damn
then this section is an eldars spare time as given to a rogue trader by a dark eldar merc
Ah
oh my
nothing on craftworlds or corsair hobbies?
The Solitaire is the one doomed to be eaten by Slaneesh irc
Ah
😦
rip
Eldar getting the old yeller treatment
squats update when? 😦
🙏
Im gonna guess its "They live so long that they cant stick to one hobby" shit again
Brooding about how they are the superior race I imagine
welp looks like its time to go back to doing my own writing for the lore and disrespecting canon in every way i can
have fun everyone else!
🫂
its less about living long and more about become too attached
to stay too long is too quiet literaly let the demon in
If i wanted to know that id have read any of their codexes
but no, that isnt covered in here
^
I act mad, which i am but this is really useful stuff
^
Im more mad at the book
half of this is stuff you can literally read from codexes from what ive seen, ill need to judge it myself once i get mine tho

yeah
like
its not the worst
it doesnt cover stuff in depth
but it does it from the point of view of a person
its just "this is the eldar"
its "i travelled with an eldar once and this is what i got"
Yeee thats what i hate about it, xenology still beats this book out the water i think.
But i welcome the effort nonetheless, especially if new players are getting these
yeah
its a nice entry way
which unfortunatley we were expecting more, but most people dont even have this much
Sadly yup
xenology kinda went off the board with starchild stuff and big lore drops in the background, this is really pristine
but again its cool
yeah
its shallow but like
if this had come out first
id be fine with it
and then the other would makea nice expansion
xenology as done from a magos
Yeeee, it feels a step back in a lot of ways but its alright
it seems to be going for a more light hearted approach is all i can say
which i guess is 40k in general with the new logo n all
Oh!
Wait uhh werent these from umm
gaunt's book?
I swear they had lizard aliens with guns somewhere

he looks like a youtuber's animated persona when their arms are crossed
tau vtuber, tau vtuber
vtweeter
Thats aun va silly
Ethereal vtuber supreme
Or a vocaloid, either interpretation is right
theres a nice little bit in here between a kroot merc and a vespid
said vespid now being a merc cause the tau pretty much ruined his life
i support tau genocide now actually
lmao
Tau Esports Athlete
*he is extremely lucky
sponsored by T-Fuel
what the fuck is with the zooming lmao
Sorry the guy still worked as a tau vespid warrior, but he only did so as he had nothing to return too as all the old traditions and wealth of his people were gone, offered up to the tau instead
Awww
owned idiot
The vespid are the worst auxillary
BUG LIVES MATTER TOO
UR UGLY

DHSHS
he died saving a kroot in an ork ambush
Yup, flawed logic, if its ugly doesn't deserve to live, same reaction with he eldar above 😔
ugly but loyal ✊
That's the appeal. They should be freaky and strange.
what do Vespids look like?
wasps on legs
don't they already have legs?
oh wow, that is a maw
Cone head
lmao
Nice
a fine addition to the collection
vespids suck
i wish they'd get like, a redesign or smthn tbh. bug aliens can be so much more
They really do need a redesign
ye. They just scream early 2000s models
ye
Drones in halo. That’s an alien bug
yeah i dont know what yall want
theres only so many ways you can make a bug alien unique lol
walking on the toes
ouch
what is this, a horse?
anyways, there are probably a lot of ways to do alien bug, but the best will always be Space Crab People
Carcinisation is universal. Embrace the space crab, ignore the space bug
oh hey
Supreme
nooooo
noooo?
Meat is back on the menu boys
@weak nova hey you interested Mothra?
girlboss
what a queen
in the immortal words on an unknown person, "YAAAAS QUEEN SLAY"
I can't believe I just sold my dignity to make a joke with no reaction...
MOTTURAAA
It's gone forever.
;-;
Gone, reduced to atoms
rest in piece dignity, it will be missed
shadows and dust...
All Is Dust
@cerulean wagon I need your lore expertise
ohno
I started playing spacehulk again, are these suppose to be psykers?
I remembered that fancy hat from this artwork
Yes those are psykers
if u ever find ur showing an ability get urself sanctioned
blackships are bad but they are better than this
u started noticing the architecture differences yet?
I have!
its been A LONG while since i played this so im paying more attention to it now
👍
i think the best job for a human psyker would probably be a Space Marine Librarian
yeah I know but name one psyker career that would be less unimaginably horrible
is being a librarian that bad?
All we are is dust in the wind
you are sent into the worst situations as a space marine, as a psyker, you can hit deamons harder but they can also hit you harder if you make ANY error
Astropath ? Diviner ?
Oh wait you wanted worse
Astropaths regularly burn themselves out from trying to send messages and are also very high on the "to kill" list for anyone attacking the Imperium
Psy battery for the Psy Titan Legion would be quite atrocious
Diviners: Idk anything about them tbh
thats just being a servitor but with your soul instead of your body
Gue'la practices are abhorrent.
Eh not really, most Servitor are Lobotomized/Can't feel pain, you can't really do that to Psyker and expect him to be able to still use his power
true, I was thinking more about how your body or in this case soul ceases to be yours and is exploited until your death
Tau aren't inherently better (Eugenic and that sort of stuff)
librarians is just SM psykers
true, the Tau suck a lot more than I thought they did at first glance
you'd wish the majority would be lobotimized
so people assume its a better state of being but uhh
yeah
usual SM issues
with added psychosis
plus psyker issues
Ahhh alright
Gue'la talk!
also known as "truth" Xeno
You wouldn't know what's Greater Good for you if it came down and shot you from somewhere on teh horizon!
Dilara turning Deathwing into a 40k museum visit simulator
isnt that all it is anyway?
Both the IoM and the T'au Sphere are bad
I think anyone could enjoy Trazyn's museum
... yes.
lmao its true, ngl already wished darktide was out the environments really make me crave the game
until he decided that they were one of the exhibits
theres a reason im so excited
Make sure to dab if Trazyn catches you
that would be heresy.
Trazyn loves novelty
in what world does the dab still have any of its origional novelty?
Warhammer.
Yeee, like i can kinda tell theres some parts in the level where the designers were like "did any writer/designer put thought into how the daily lives and corridors in this ship would even look like"
so it comes with its difficulties i imagine haha
also Trayzn apparently poses his exhibits as he wants. I think he has a squad of sororitas in one display, despite them looking like one unified squad, one of them would still think Goge Vandire was a good guy whilst some of the others may be aware of the great rift.
so you would only dab if Trazyn wanted you to
You're analysing my obviously not serious jokes
of course I am. Why else would we have the adeptus nitpickus
I dunno Sauce, yible has a good point
I also leave the possibility that Trazyn WOULD want you to dab

Do Mechanicus still have their souls?
Oh no, cat girls
Catbois and catgirls in my 40k? It's more likely than you think!
I think so. If they didn't then any psyker standing near them would complain about it as they would be a blank.
instant extinction XD
I think so
Necron's don't have souls but aren't blanks like that
They have what apppears to be a custodes badge on their left shoulders
Servitors aren't blanks for example
But since they are wiped, I douytb they retain their souls
I think that being BORN without a soul is what makes you a psychic blank, with all the effects of that.
They are tactical custodes with guns
1 sec i forgot their name, imma go to forgeworld real quick
It's Horus ship, so maybe Sons of Horus?
Nah they're custodians
i think horus's guys are behind him, with the eye badge
Found em!
These can't be custodians, the lacking amount of gold contradicts that.
Legio Custodes Sagittarum Guard
oh sweet
ok, however, that means that there is a difference to a blank and a human without a soul. I sincerely doubt that. The warp trauma that would follow someone who had their soul ripped out would probably have a blank effect
Yeee there they are
Yes, and I don't think GW has defined it wlel.
Some Custodian are purple, black and white if i'm right
That is a very old image I think. Perhaps they were repainted or something? Perhaps the artist just wanted to reserve gold for the Emperor and Sanguinius
I agree
Yep i think it was an artistic choice to just make Big E and Sangy stand out
I think that Necrons are just memory engrams of who they used to be. THey're not ACTUALLY who they used to be.
That piece of art is the most iconic in the franchise, for sure
It's made in a way that makes you think it could've been a depiction made in-universe, due to how they're posed, focused and how clear it is who's good and who's bad etc
I mean
i thought that was what they are?
since why some of them are literally brain damaged
That would explain why they don't have a psychic blank effect. They are too far removed from their mortal selves. I don't think mechanicus are.
I think a Deamonhost escaped using an Enginseer.
that would imply the Enginseer had a soul
A contradiction to that was something I misremember a bit, but I think it was something that gave some Necron warriors back their souls or sentience (Ynnead?), and some of them screamed in childrens voices and scary shit like that
They were confused as to what they were, where they were and so on
But then there's also lightbulb, I forget his name, the Diviner
Orikhan?
I recall him talking about feeling like he had a soul when he entered his energy state
Orikan, I think
It's Orikan ye
this is warhammer fan film.

Choir Of Destruction Dawn of War II - Retribution Soundtrack
this is amaing
I'm still pissed that the custodes killed the thunder warriors
Wh40k's most intese euthanasia debate right here
Jokes aside the thunder warriors were made to conquer terra and nothing else alas
yup. I'm just glad there isn't a world eaters edition
they deserved better
the vast majority of non chaos affiliated people deserve better
thats not to lessen the blow
or make it insignificant
still
its just saddly regular
I grew to respect The Thunder Warriors
they were thrust upon the terrors of old earth
I genuinely want to see a conclusion where the matterium (Imperium, craftworlders etc) win to justify all of their sacrafice
and did it with loyalty they truely believe in the dream of humanity united
didn't the culling of the thunder warriors turn some space marines to chaos during the heresy?
like they were worried they would be next to be replaced
that might have applied to some of the DA who might have seen it
only custodes know
Yeee
some of the VERY early DA might have been there
at the culling
Oh no they were at the second culling
they would have to be terrans
it was their first combat engagement
They got gene enhancements!
who?
the custodes?
the Thunder Warriors remind me of the Gland Warriors
both augmented to frack all, ready to take on chaos but all have short life spans
Both are upgraded humans in a sense
I'd love to see more books with Thunder warriors
or even a lore book about them with ilustrations
Honestly we might get them
GW loves sprinkling in any sort of fluff about the past into the Siege of Terra books
there was a couple of guys doing thunder warriors minis
they looked amazing
Huh thats neat, i dont thinkive ever seen a thunder warrior kitbash anywhere
👀
Ayyy thats my boys
wherent the thunder warriors suffering from crippling cancers and shit tho?
I like the baldie
they had all types of problems
mo thunder mo problems
its like the greek one
If they all get the same genes spliced in
they are more like cousions
yes but gene wise they are cousions
Like how different can one look from another in the same chapter
Oh a lot!
depends
It doesnt matter really
they are all different
Was curious
namely on the world they com from
they just take traits from the primarch
Bc I'm just imagining row after row of brickheads
lmao
no, they have their own personalities
Sicarius for example is a moronic self centered idiot until he vanished into the warp
when he came back he was slighly better... hehehehe
Uriel Ventris, together with Marneus Calgar, the epitome of the nobility of the Ultramarines
Same with the Wolves, the Angels, the Salamanders.
Basically yep
They are brothers from another mother
I remember in the first war for Armageddon, the civilians were all shiped out to labour camps because of Angron's invasion, the Wolves who fought there were utterly against it since they fought as bravely as them, they almost came to blows with the inquisition that time.
and they were right
The only event that saves the wolves from me hating them for what they did in the Heresy tbh
also i hate this because its true
Erda pls
no, they are noble
Hehehe
Ragnar Blackmane is one hell of a character
they are just rought around the edges
yeah I heard they changed that with a HH book I need to buy
that Magnus did in fact do something wrong....
I'll have to read about that
Here we go again

Emprah himself is not without censure, he did take Angron away from his friends, when he could have just invaded that coliseum and end those blood games
instead he teleported Angron and left his friends to die there, a grudge he always had until Horus turned him.
Yeah let's not list everytime Big E fucked up, that's a long list
Plus, angron was fucked either way
The worst part is that only happens so that the Heresy can happen because Plot
Big E could have pulled an STC out of his ass and saved angron willy nilly but see the reason above
Angron was not bad at that time even with the nails
It's no case of eventually, he was in his set path regardless
Big E took that away from him
Angron didn't want to serve the Emperor anyway, he thought of it as remaining a slave but to someone else
That's not how that works
but I digress
"I saved your friends, now do all this shit for me without feeling triggered over your history of being a slave kthx"
nope
more like I saved you and your friends so that what you went through will never happen to others, and here's a legion to make that a reality
bigggggggggg difference
You can sugar coat it however you want, it's still slavery as far angron sees it
Lots of baggage to consider who carries his single shtick in his name
when you let his friends to die and take him away from an honorable death hell yeah he sees it like that
Angry
not sugar coating jack
give a warrior purpose and he will deliver
Angron had honor then.
he also had the butcher's nails. Angron without the nails would have been amazing
nails would kill him no doubt
but at least he would have choosen how to die
not serve the chaos gods
a pity to be honest
but again, plot.
more tragic fall of all is Horus himself.
all the books I read about Horus before he was poisoned he was amazing
kind, honorable, logical.
but then plot 😉
Konrad was always a mess to be honest
yes
At least he admits hes evil tbh
yeah he did
and jealous that Corvus was a better version of him who could do his job and be a good guy
heheheh Yep
Committing suicide by assassin to own the libs
some cool characters from his legion when Aaron made books about.
that sounds like one of the Poems that TTS Corvus has written for the Emperor
the opening dialogue I mean
THE E D G E
Night lords frustratingly have one of the coolest visual aesthetic imo while also leaving me bored with their identity/flavor
I had the same problem until I read Aaron Dembski Bowden books about that character
Zso hated chaos, but he hated everyone else more
Understandable
still, he had his own identity he didn't just hate everyone, they gave him reasons to do so.
his famous line in the first book "scream for meeee" when he was killing a bunch of criminals was poetic.
oh while he was broadcasting all those screams city wide in the vox system btw
The edgelord shtick is just boring to me
That's all it is
I love the lightning vampire look tho, it's sweet
Night
What exactly was Ferrus's relationship with Fulgrim? Is it friendly at all or did he just tolerate the other?
A lot better than the other primarch
They were brothers and best friends
what @storm jungle said hehehehe

dat 8 pack tho
If fulgrim hadnt fallen ue wouldve been great at keeping the imperium in order
he would have been a great asset
I like Ferrus but not his sons
Unpopular Opinion: the Iron Warriors I MEAN Hands are boring and uninteresting.
Hmmm haven't read much about them to make an opinion to be honest
There are some cool novels like a long dead iron hans that protects a facility with a flesh eating fungus
Salamanders are kinda the best doe...
Salamanders are noble aye
your generation and your puns... 😏
And Vulkan being an Perpetual doesn't go bad either
Aaaw
Aren't all primarchs perpetual?
Nope
if that was true Ferrus would be back
its only Vulkan, and its always been used to the worse advantage by the traitors, especially when Kondrad caught him after the Massacre and tortured him for a long while
AND EVEN TOSSED HIM INTO THE ENGINE OF A STARSHIP
Perpetual just means you don't die of age. It doesn't mean you don't die if someone makes the effort
No?
That's not how they are shown
Oh
Yeah because by that definition every marine is potentially a perpetual
Yeah I know Big E and some of his friends were
This is a short Warhammer40k fan film i made on my spare time.
It started as a small learning experience and ended up being a short fan film.
I found inspiration from all kinds of places such as the amazing Astartes, Starcraft 2, The lord inquisitor, Iron man and many others.
This is my homage to those inspirations.
Its made in Blender and...
Perpetual means after you die you reappear just when the plot has big need of you
i still dont know how the hell that works
do they like form out of atoms Doctor Manhattan style?
The power of writing
I would normally assume that they are just reincarnated essentially, but with their memories coming back to then eventually
But applying that idea to how it would work with vulcan raises some issues
warp fuckery
the warp is involved actually iirc
but ill just go with the doctor manhattan way of respawning
I vaguely remember some stuff from legion involving john grammaticus where he talks about having gone by many names through his different lives as a perpetual
Which implies he is raised in multiple families over time
And not just poofing into existence
I think that could be like an Ollanius Pious thing? Where by "different lives" he probably means all the "persons" he lived as throughout history
until he was like
"Eh time for another identity fitting to the period"
and shedding his identity and going somewhere else
Time to go digging

Perpetuals are just immortals that can't die of physical trauma. But they can die of "other means". John Grammaticus remembers the Empy when he was a "regular" human.
They can only TRULY die by fulgurite as far as we know
otherwise they always respawn
Yeah the more reddit threads about it I read, the more it seems like a "machine spirit" or stc situation, where it's a stupid vague blanket term used to describe both beings that never age, as well as those that respawn upon death
The difference between being perpetual and being a perpetual
That being said, space marines are clearly excluded from the list from an ageless perspective (because they do in fact age) yet it's said they're functionally immortal in a few instances over the years, I'm sort of assuming it's more of a 'super duper long lifespan' thing than anything else
this is chapter dependent also
space marines age
slower than humans
but eg blood angels do not if they consume blood
and even if they don't their ageing is slower
Yep
I'm specifically recalling a super old loyalist luna wolf during the HH who's grizzled as fuck
Yes... You can destroy the body of a perpetual, but it will reform and act like nothing has ever happened
Iacton Qruze
Also perpetual cannot die of age...
SM aren't perpetual, they are long lived, but they can still die by age... It is that it take a lot of time... Custodes on the other hand cannot die by age
How they come back really, REALLY depends
Vulkan has been depicted dying and then getting back up multiple times in the same battle
Other times they just kinda... step out of the warp?
The primarch project was a way for the emperor to make perpetuals that wouldn't betray him... SInce, well, many of those did indeed betray him
IIRC, there is one Astartes who is a perpetual.
Yes, a word bearer iirc, which hate bile
Since bile experimented on him for quite some time
No, the Primarch project was twofold.
1: Test out a plan to force humanity to be the way Emps wanted it to be. A plan to do an end-run around the natural progression of the species and skip to the end.
2: Test out a plan whereby he could create Custodes in a matter of years of minimal involvement instead of centuries of intense labor
Nice headcanon
sigismund was killed by abbadon primarily because he was old as balls at the time iirc
That's literally in Master of Mankind.
Yup... Warp time dilatation at work
Sigismund didn't want to go back to the old folks home
Sigismund was hellbent on killing all traitors he could...
It says that in the book?
I dont remember it much
I've seen tons of excerpts of MoM, never seen anything referencing that. Surprising cuz that seems like a pretty big deal and i don't see that mentioned as the go-to answer for what the Emperors long term plan was
Kinda weird
Who's he?
I too never heard of that, but since my knowledge of that book wasn't great i tried to find such an excerpt, since it would be a big thing that people would share for sure... But i still haven't found anything
https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Mordrac
This one... Maybe i misremembered, but there should be also a word bearer that helped eldrad kill other perpetuals
Aaaand i misremembered about the word bearers lol, he did became a perpetual
Yo, i found an interesting excerpt from mater of mankind on the knowledge of the warp of the primarchs, it is unrelated to the perpetual/primarch project discussion, but it was too nice to not share
From Master of Mankind
Think on this, then. I prepared them all, this pantheon of proud godlings that insist they are my heirs. I warned them of the warp’s perils. Coupled with this, they knew of those dangers themselves. The Imperium has relied on Navigators to sail the stars and astropaths to communicate between worlds since the empire’s very first breath. The Imperium itself is only possible because of those enduring souls. No void sailor or psychically touched soul can help but know of the warp’s insidious predation. Ships have always been lost during their unstable journeys. Astropaths have always suffered for their powers. Navigators have always seen horrors swimming through those strange tides. I commanded the cessation of Legion Librarius divisions as a warning against the unrestrained use of psychic power. One of our most precious technologies, the Geller field, exists to shield vessels from the warp’s corrosive touch. These are not secrets, Ra, nor mystical lore known only to a select few. Even possession by warp-wrought beings is not unknown. The Sixteenth witnessed it with his own eyes long before he convinced his kindred to walk a traitor’s path with him. That which we call the warp is a universe alongside our own, seething with limitless, alien hostility. The primarchs have always known this. What difference would it have made had I labelled the warp’s entities “daemons” or “dark gods"?
This also confirm to me that calling the chaos "gods" and demons simply warp entities is approved by big e himself
The Imperial Truth. Calling them gods gives them power.
Nah, not really, but it is a good anchor to let people follow those entities
It is not calling them gods that give them power, it is the emotion connected to the notion of them being gods that empower them
The Imperial Truth was about the removal of the notion of gods, that is true, but not because calling the chaos entities gods give them power...
Yeah. Fabius Bile mentioned that, as did Guilliman
They knew "things" existed in the warp
But the Imperial Truth was that these "things" were non-sentient. Merely beasts conjured up from the imagination
From bile i already knew, big crazy atheist guy lol... From guillman i didn't, but it doesn't surprise me... But they are big e...
I find it hilarious that Fabius Bile, even now, follows the Imperial Truth
Also that they were yes entities, but not worthy of worship anyway
He also like to tell that to imperium forces too
yep
I liked when that Keeper of Secrets got onboard his ship (he let it in to test a new anti-daemonic weapon he developed). And the whole time he is just shitting all over it. Refusing to recognize that it could possibly be sentient. Saying that it was nothing more than an illusion, and that its appearance of sentience is likewise just an illusion. No more sentient than the vision of someone you meet when dreaming
Before promptly shooting it in the face with said anti-daemonic weapon (a dart filled with a serum made from the distilled blood of psychic nulls). One shot killing it
LOL
Yeah. It was great
big dick fabulous bill
Ahahaha flavius knows how yo make an entrance that's for sure...

Daemons rekt by facts and logic
All the fabius stuff is excellent
Uuuuhhh, this is going into the excerpt collection
This is proof of what another person said to me... But sadly that person said that she heard it from a loretuber so i was empty handed... Until now... Thanks Chapin
👍
chapin comin in clutch
The part about Daemons being story-things, and not actually sentient?
Because yeah, they're basically just automata.
haha angy spirit servitor go brrrrrrrrrr
Oh, and that excerpt show that, exactly like faith help defeating demons, the Imperial Truth can do that too!! Which is definitely better, as you would have fanatics going around burning everyone that disagree with them and being labelled as heretics... And it will not stop technological rennovation and progress...
It's satisfying to see strong un-faith be just as potent as faith itself
so, as a person knows next to nothing of 40k lore and etc, what would you say is top 10 things to know
that erebus is trash
@cerulean wagon I summon the lore master for guidance
noted, il make sure to immediately trash and demish any mention of the man
wassup
Kinda hard to say cause its a pretty big setting, do you know the main factions at least?
to a degree
lemme finish this mission then i'll give u some stuff
thank
If AI is banned within the imperium, how do servo skulls work? Can they somehow ""program"" something onto a brain, slap it into a servo skull and call it a day?
Servo Skulls are relatively simplistic.
If its banned it doesn't mean its not used
We probably have the ability to program the "personality" of a servo skull already, it would just have faster proscessing, the ability to float and look a lot cooler
a servo skull is basically a modern drone with a built in and sometimes encrypted Alexa
ye its basically a labotamized servant
Amazing. And servitors are lobotomized regular people i assume
they function the same but a servo skull is just the skull where a servator can range from barely nothing attatched to a cyber construct through too a full meat man strapped with weapons
it can be a kind of honour, you did well enough in life for your skull to be useful in your death
when anyone looks at a servoskull, they know that skull achieved something in life and was someone to look up to
My general advise for 40k is this
-No faction is the best faction or the "good guys", they all have interesting points but are horrifying in their own ways so find the bits you like about them (I'm an IG man myself)
-theres a scale to everything. 40k settings can range from a small band of 4 people to an army of millions, and the setting adjusts to fit it. Don't be too surprised if people drop some absurd number, or if the math doesnt check out
-as a side note to that, it also means theres room for pretty much anything in 40k, ranging from samurai guardsmen to sympathetic chaos cults
-40+ years of lore is a lot to sift through, get a little info on each faction then start from a corner you like, theres bound to be something, and always feel free to ask questions here if u want some extra info
-Good starting points if you want some stories is Ciaphas cain or Eisenhorn, both are fantastic entry points to the setting and do a good job of being familiar to other media but very 40k
- no matter what anyone tells you, joining a cult (tyranid, chaos or otherwise) is horrifying, but the way the cults operate is incredibly neat
-the RPG books are a great place to get little lore bits if you don't want to dig too deep
-skim the wikis for information but be prepared for some of it to be wrong, retcons abound so its hard for them to keep track of it all
Outside of that are there any factions you have an interest in or bits you have found neat so far?
its hard to give anything concrete off the top of my head as "10 most important facts" because the lore is so huge, its mostly about how you interpret it or interact with it
i wasn't expecting to substantial since i know of the meme of war hammer lore its self , ive seen sparce of astaris to comical paper cut out videos on YT war hammer realted, i think main thing is really what this game circumvents around, other then some infest and mischief group of people being sent in to deal with
and thank you
np
So DT as far as we are aware
we are convicts, mostly ex imperial guard, who have been employed by an inquisitor and sent into the underhive atoma prime
thank you for putting that out here. Are we allowed to pin it because that is genuinely good for ppl to see?
We are facing a nurgle cult and the traitor regiments of the Moebian 6th
you'd have to ask the mods haha
@plucky moth ?
moebian 6th, def will have to poke some stuff inside that
we have no info on them yet
It's made for the game
they are a new unique regiment made by fatshark
They don't exist outside of it
They are the guys in the trailer with the green light gasmasks and the khanate design
np, try and help where i can
Also: While there are no "good guys", there are definitely bad guys.
However, just because somebody is a monster doesn't mean they're not necessarily beloved by the fanbase. See: Fabious Bile.
@regal jewel i thought youd enjoy this
Ye
And then you have guys that are meant to be the biggest worse baddies. But they kinda just turn into memes. For example Abbadon.
Don’t take stuff too too seriously
I think the planet is called atoma prime, the hive is called tertium
No one is really the "bad guy", not in their own mind where the end justify their means
Be as it may I always side with humanity.
I like the Tau since they are "good", but in the end Mankind comes first always for me. Still pisses me off the 40k society though, love the Imperial Truth and that dream.
I mean if there was no humanity in the setting it wouldnt sell so ye lol

"We little people were always the weak link in the Emperor’s vision, weren’t we? Quarrelsome as children, always more likely to turn on our saviours. Not like the Legiones Astartes, conquering sons of the Emperor."

well even the Astartes betrayed the vision so meh...
I read the entire thing now, he's right. Get a proper tool to solve the problem. hehehe

everyone gangsta til the death korps gets on their horses
Everybody gangsta until the orks start falling back
Oh, that remind me that there was an IG regiment that made orks wary of shadow well before kayvan shrike of the raven guard made the same
Tanith?
Ohh Catachans!
you're going to tell us or we are going to play "imperial fifty questions of heresy"?
Sure, i wanted to see if you wanted to keep guessing... The noctan IG regiments
👍🏻
They are really nice indeed
I just heard someone say that GW is reconning the fall of Magnus so that he kills Malcador and then tries to kill the Emperor. Is this true, or is this a game of telephone gone horribly wrong?
I'm assuming GW isn't doing something that stupid, but I want to verify.
why is it that the souls of elves in Warhammer fantasy also god to Slaanesh?
no they do in a way, Slaanesh loves elves and try to steal the soul of the dead but the fantasy god are faster to take them
in AoS Slaanesh was bitchslapped and is getting shanked for her lunch money
this liberated the Sea elve and some elves that kept their identity
more like slaanesh got bonked by the horny police
can't market this shid to kids
reeeee
Yea its less that slaanesh is directly connected to elves and more that elves usually live the most decadent lives, and are thus slaanesh's preferred meal in both WHF and AoS
Its not something ive heard anywhere
also remember that explicit retconning doesnt really happen unless GW really needs to change something
I heard the same, with Malcador being killed by magus but then resuscitated by another perpetual... Utter BS for me
If Malcador didn't get his soul burned away then he would come back from death, and if Malcador was alive then the Imperium would be fine
The Custodes took orders from Malcador, and the Imperial House is nearly capable of fighting the Imperium if it came to it.
And between Emps and Malcador, Malcador was the wise one.
Also: Perpetuals aren't supposed to be able to resurrect each other.
That's just a normal psyker thing.
Not a Perpetual thing
Slaanesh is mad at the Eldar because they caused the warpstorms that finished off the human Federation, and the Federation was IDIC and that's Slaanesh's jam.
Warp things don't understand time, so it makes sense for Slaanesh to be mad at their parents because their birth killed their favorite show :V
Hum?
I thought she enjoyed th eldar empire far much more since they were psychic as fuck AND decadent as fuck
Yeah, and they killed that with warp storms too :V
This is headcanon; it just seems right that Slaanesh is mad at her parents because they made a mess of things she liked when she was born :V
Ah okay, i was like "this isnt said anywhere in lore is it"
Yeah, nah, sorry, I should have said that.
TBH, Slaanesh would probably be a lot more chill if there weren't 3 other ruinous powers intent on eating them.
It'll never be chill, but it can still be less not-chill
my hc of chaos gods is that they're what happens to those online intelligent learning bots upon exposure to the internet. they can never be not-absolutely-fuckawful when they're being exposed to and being shaped by all the worst nonsense imaginable
That's basically correct.
they're sorta just [all the shitty stuff manifested into this weird sorta god]
Every thought, every dream, every wish, becomes true in the warp.
That's how you get daemons.
They're thoughts made tangible.
Similar thoughts collect together and get stronger.
IIRC, GW was inspired by Jung's collective unconscious when thinking up the warp
That also mean that somewhere in the warp, there is a cotton candy field and houses with beer on tap
Probably, yes.
I like the warp more
TBH, it's probably on the remnants of Cadia, and the remaining guards who couldn't evacuate are defending it to this very day.
Agree, and it is a shared take
But why do they have waystones to keep elven souls safe after death?
Because slaneesh in fantasy loved elves souls too, the only difference is that in fantasy she/he/whatever wasn't created by the elves, it was already present
Yee^
Then Slaanesh just sits there waiting to pluck whichever one they find?
Moreso that slaanesh has like, hard-cucked the elf god of death and just takes all of them that are unprotected
Yes
Elves and Eldar have heightened senses, so they have stronger experiences. That's why Slaanesh wants them in WF
Because they can experience highs and lows that would burn out the related parts of a human brain :V
(Disregarding that it doesn't make a lot of sense, since neurons of all types normalize out and are gain-limited, meaning that heightened senses works out to a lower fidelity precision per volume, and a lower maximum response)
(Which is why dogs seem to be fine smelling anything unless it physically burns the inside of their nose)
(Science!)
It turns out it's really easy to desensitize, and really hard to fry neurons.
BUt then, dogs can smell cancer, low blood sugar and other things you'd not expect to be giving off a smell.
I suppose that since they're made for it, they don't react to it as much. Like they're used to it.
Like hearing a single voice in a room full of people.
Yep.
Dogs have super sensitive noses, and one result of that is that they don't have as strong a high-end response.
more sensory sensitivity can still incite a stronger emotional reaction however
It turns out it doesn't actually work like that.
A higher sensitivity means there's more results, and more results means weaker associations.
Humans have extremely good vision and a weak sense of smell, but we form much stronger emotional responses to smell than vision. This is because smell has lower stimulation and thus events become more significant
Malcador died ... But he got better
So, when are they going to retcon the Imperial Creed out of existence? Because Malcador would not tolerate that existing.
Eeeeehhh, he was stated that for him it was a tool, in fact he gave shelter to the proto-imperial followers
^^
Fair, but this is not a tool
He really didn't cared much, he saw religion as dumb, but an interesting tool that could be useful
It went way out of hand almost immediately
It is in the beginning, it is until humans fuck it up, like with all the precedent religions
Generally religions start fucking up when their founders die.
Yep
Malcador would be Paul; the rock on which the church was built
Rocks are overrated
I still can't see the Creed going off the rails like it did if Malcador was around.
Not with him explicitly being the head of the Inquisition, and thus Ordo Hereticus
If Malcador was present it would probably been left around for some millennia, then crushed utterly IMO
Exactly.
The Ordo Hereticus wasn't part of the original inquisition though
The original inquisition had only malles and xenos iirc
The original Inquisition didn't actually have any Ordos.
Unless xenos isn't retconnect as after the war of the beast
Ah, i remembered wrongly, it was just the ordo malleus at the start, but since it was the only inquisition it wasn't formally established yet... After the war of the beast the ordo xenos was formed, so to divide it from the original inquisition the ordo malleus was formed as well
While hereticus is created after the age of aspostasy
Yep
It all make sense... I just misremembered the xenos creation
The Ordo Scriptus and Ordo Scriptorum also date back to the original Inquisition
Although truth be told, big e wanted the original inquisition to also keep an eye on the threats within too
Are you sure about this?
Yes.
Let me read your mind... Oh right... I cannot
Your snark is noted.
I think that you remember that the original inquisition was divided in two branches, one was the SM that founded the grey knights and the other is what would became the actual inquisition...
8 sm and 4 normal humans were gathered... So i don't think that those 4 humans started dividing themself already in more than one "ordo"
Didn't we literally just cover that the original Inquisition had no Ordos?
Then talk about how and when they split into the different major Ordos?
Then this isn't correct
The Ordo Scriptus and Ordo Scriptorum also date back to the original Inquisition
Are you seriously starting a pedantic argument now?
As the inquisition didn't have any ordo until after the war of the beast no ordo minoris can trace back to the origin of the inquisition
side-eyes
You were asking of what you were thinking of when talking about ordo that traced back to the origin of the inquisition
I merely said that since ordos weren't a thing at the origin no ordo, especially minoris, can trace back to the origin
After the war of the beast the original inquisition split into Ordos. From there every Ordo has its origins in either the original Inquisition, from which they split directly, or another Ordo that their Inquisitor broke from.
Aaahhh, ok, that...
And "minoris" doesn't mean "new", it means "small"
That's not really relevant; there have always been Inquisitors monitoring communications inside the Imperium.
That's an older minor Ordo, yeah
Good stuff
Looks great
After zooming it, there is nothing I can spot
They're just helping out with deconstructing some old ruins
Guy on the bottom right wasn't wearing his hard hat
lmao probably
My best guess judging from the yellow on the wreckage is that it could be gangers or orks
probably gangers because orks don't seem the type to take cover well enough for us not to see them
Theyre fighting tzeench, he's disguised his daemons as rubble and has completely surrounded them
they're fighting the inexorable march of time, the knowledge that all is fleeting and regrets are mounting
ok Nurgle
brush your teeth heretic
I just saw this... Really nice depiction of the iron warriors... Especially the normal humans
Iron Warriors ❤️
Not a huge fan of shoulder pads beeing that low on space marines. Looks pretty weird, especially on the dude with the hammer/power fist. Nice artwork tho
It's pretty metal, but apparently something about nurgle has actually been successfully sanitized..
Why does nurgles icon look like a dick tho 👀
Lmao right?
Probably one of the reasons they changed it
Back when the Dark Millennium was just Thatcher's Britain
Wow, fucking superb burn there, genuinely awesome work
I mean, Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka's middle and last names were chosen to sound like Margret Thatcher
"Mag Uruk Thraka"
Yeah it wasn't me that made that connection
