Lufgt thought he should have more resources, Imperium said “No”, Lufgt said “screw you, no taxes”, started to build his own mini-empire whilst also hogging said taxes. Imperials got nervous, then some other Marines got shot by Astral Claws, they start fighting, a non-Marine Imperial ship gets blown up turning it into an actual Astral Claw VS Imperial mess. One civil war later, Badab (Astral Claw home world) was blown up, Astral Claws flee into Maestrom to become Red Corsairs, Lufgt Huron becomes the Huron we know today.

So Necromunda is a narrative skirmish game set on the titular planet of Necromunda. A hive world in the Segmentum Solar (with strong warp winds to Terra btw). Its generally meant to be "just another Hive world" but its dripping with unique lore and soul

Due to the feudal system of Necromunda, the noble houses cannot openly war. However, Necromunda is rife with gang warfare, as the gangs are technically the legal and allowed arms of these houses to fight constant proxy wars. Or for the unwashed masses to decide to die for something while waiting around down there.

Necromunda, the game, is a narrative skirmish game set on this planet. You play as your chosen gang, with its unique fighters. The houses of Necromunda all have A Thing they commit to. Their special niche.

The 6 main gang houses are

House Escher: An all-female glamrock punk gang
House Goliath: Liberated slave race of huge bulking hunk men (and women)
House Cawdor: A cargo cult that believes reusing the scrap and trash of the Hives is a glorious and holy act
House Orlock: Fast & Furious the gang, with a biker leather and mining aesthetic
House Delaque: The shadiest (and psychicist) people ever to exist, and the info-brokers that are spying on everyone and everything
House Van Saar: A technocracy of nerds that have the best gear from an STC, that slowly kills them with radiation

I will spare you the other Noble houses, for now. But they all dabble their fingers in constantly

Necromunda is ruled by House Helmawr, who maintain an official state monopoly over violence to keep the Hives in check.
