Commander Shadowsun why are we going to this destination?
For the Greater Good

Meanwhile Szeras treats the word “soul” as a slur
oops
Except for cawl
Necron tech is basically superior to everybody else's
If anyone but him got the order for primaris they wouldve spent 10k years debating eachother on who gets to make them
Yeah and the most broken stuff got locked away or destroyed
Yeah he's an exception to the rule
What is considered the tech tierlist for 40K?
I always saw Necrons at the top and Orks at the bottom
Necrons > Eldar > Votann > Tau > Imperium
It was always:
Necrons > Eldar > Votann > Tau > Chaos > Imeprium > Orcs
Then the Tyranids I guess cause they use bio-organic stuff over actual tech
I wouldnt call chaos tech better in any capacity
Dark mechanicus just do vibe based engineering
Not the Zazza engineers
It's like Skaven having better tech than the Dwarf.
Yes they do, but at the same time they don't.
- Necrons and Pre-fall Eldar
- Dark Eldar
- Craftworlders
- Votann
- T'au
- Imperium
- Chaos (most are derived from Imperium)
- Exodites
Orks entirely depends on who they're fighting.
Depending on the technology level, they'll match them
That's somewhat wrong tbh
Also chaos still uses pre primaris tech
Tbf some of it is better
But in general it's like comparing
Windows 10 and windows 11.
Experimental would be a better word
They basically are the same for all purposes
Although some Chaos tech is from the HH
Which is generally better
Minus some areas
But in general Chaos is
"Whatever the fuck we have"
- daemons shoved into the machine spirit's ass
Sure they can make a superior skin harvester on paper but can they actually make it
Elon Musk ahh line
Dark Mechanicum:
The floating planks is especially accurate
I receive my inspiration from only the finest of minds
Eldar musk
Let's not kid ourselves
Can you imagine being the richest man in the world and still unhappy
He'd be a Dark Eldar
has more like an admech Magos
lol
"We should enslave the human race."
"I need factories run stat."
This is very good
Elon looking at his new intern
“Alright pre robot here’s the deal”
He wouldn't say that he'd use some roundabout language to sell a product
Reminder that he literally suggested indentured servitude (contractual slavery) for people that could not afford to live on Mars once they made it there
Dude is hardly a person

Haven’t even colonized it yet and we’re already breaking laws
Correct.
And people would still not care lol
Arch Magos Musk
I used to watch some dorkass youtuber who was all giddy he'd signed up for that contract or whatever it was
or wanted to sign up for it
I remember a scifi comic all about that scenario
Lemme find the link to it
Seems about right for the kind of people he'd send
Bad Space Comics are pretty fun
Ironic given the title but it's generally just exploring short scifi concepts like
Old pulp scifi magazines
Holyshit that ending
Jesus christ lmao
I never knew Red Faction Guerilla was gonna happen cause of Musk
Yeah
The only thing that's unrealistic is two things
wake up sheeple
A) NASA would 100% try a rescue mission
Despite how stupid they are as people
B) they lasted one Martian year
That's an insanely terrifying way to go out
Yup.
I also like the detail of the flag waving in the air
And the person being stupid enough to be confused
Mars has winds and an atmosphere ofc the flag would wave
Although both the winds and atmosphere are much weaker than Earth
I mean when you’re on a planet with no contact to HQ and you start going a bit delirious you’d start second guessing things
True but like
Let's not give them the full benefit of the doubt

I do think a movie about this would be a nice dark comedy tbh
A bunch of really stupid people being sent out for a Mars mission
Die horrifically due to incompetency
Final guy treks out on his own, trips on space and cracks his spacesuit’s visor
Actually I can imagine it like this
NASA lands ready to save the last person alive
Now that you mention it. It's always the richest pricks peddling conspiracies like vaccines not being real
The ship lands
Part of the movie is spent on the difficulty NASA spent to make a rescue
...
And then the "astronaut" fucking trips and dies due to the visor being cracked

Sheesh.
THE END!
Id like to think that comic is more of a parody than anything
But
Parody is slowly becoming a reality

It mostly is because astronauts have to take a hard physical and scientific test
If you fail even a bit
💀
You ain't getting in
So if you're an antivaxxer you'd likely fail
Cause you need all your vaccinations
Of course who knows how stupid we'd get but ATM
Astronaut requirements are really high for a really good reason

Yeah but I wanna go into outer space
You also need a high tolerance for not being bored
Because you're probably gonna be spending weeks in space
And despite space being cool
It'd probably be boring as fuck after a bit
Yeah
With NO INTERNET!!!
With
Yeah, movies too
But generally you have to last for months in an enclosed space
With whatever entertainment you CAN bring
Also moving like that
What movie you wanna watch?
Hey you know that film of the astronaut woman getting disconnected from the shuttle during a spacewalk and flung into space?

Honestly one of my favorite scifi books/films in general is
The Martian
Im pretty sure that guy snuck a gorilla suit on board
Lmfaooooo
who was the first primarch to join Horus?
Guy fucking swims off
Really scientifically accurate despite it being written in 2011.
A couple of things are inaccurate. Like the "Martian storm" wouldn't be turbulent enough to cause parts to fly
Lorgar probably
Actually no Lorgar was before Horus
But besides that, it's generally really accurate
Even things like planting stuff on the Martian soil
And how potatoes are the best singular food to sustain yourself
yeah
Which would be harmful
I wanna say Perturabo but idk
But only within like 5 years of constant eating
Does candy exist in the imperium?
But the book has the guy escape before that
Most modern foods exist in some form in general ysah
Is Crack candy
I unironically sniffed pixie dust once as a kid
I think you can tell

So if corpse starch or protin slop is what you eat, what would be considered candy?
I’m surprised Warhammer doesn’t have some sort of sentient black hole that actively hunts stuff down unless there is one and I don’t know about it
...actual candy
I honestly wouldn't have been surprised if Missus had said that
It was only one time
Tbf
When I was like 7
I was a weird kid
The Captive Abyss
I did also feel more active
Like it was crack (but not really)
Probably because pixie sticks are basically pure sugar

I mean, PCP at age 7 is worrysome
Void stars ?
For reference it's these fucking things
Oh, ok
Yeah I snorted some
Not the first time I’ve seen a Black hole shoved into a weapon lmao. Monorail my beloved
Idk how much
So not the PCP slang term Pixie Dust
No
that's so much different
Pixie sticks
Which
Isn't much better in name
Also I usually call them Pixie Dust
Also isn't that Angel Dust?
Insert Hazbin Hotel here

But yeah I thought the slang term for cocaine is angel dust
I've only ever heard coke as the main nickname for cocaine tbqh
Oh no wait angel dust is for pcp
Colombian Booger Sugar was a funny one I heard from someone covering Nick Rekieta's downfall though
Man my phone really doesn’t like opening up the Lexicanum
Why did I mistake pcp for cocaine
I don't do drugs
Is here
So
I've seen both
I just realized that he has a
Really long beard
Why does the Lexicanum take forever for my phone to open?
This is starting to worry me
I forgot which culture was it
But I remember distinctly that long beards = how powerful you are as a warrior
Because it means you lasted long enough in battle to grow one
Does the Lexicanum take forever for y’all to open up too?
Lexicanum was down earlier today for me
This is sort of related but not really
Apparently during the medieval period, a beard for a knight was a sign of virility and honor
Culturally having a beard cut = castration
This is why fanwiki is better..
State-mandated execution worthy statement........
I shall be a martyr
Death
Why did you post a panda
Lazy ass bear
'ate pandas, nasty little propaganda goblins
Pandas turning around to see a zookeeper
These pandas are up to something just you wait and see
"WHY DON'T YOU FUCK ALREADY??"
Reject pandas, embrace sunbears
"YOUR SPECIES IS DYING FUCK NOW!!!"
Shinzo abe statement
Yessir
🫡
Thank fuck Abe died
Honestly it says a lot that people celebrated when he got shot
Fun fact shinzo abe was apart of the moonies
How could you hate him
Mainly due to cult connections
The Killers Mother was a cult member since he was young. Leading her to put her finances towards donating to the cult and neglecting her son
I definitely know that when the US president gets an obituary.
I will totally fucking get drunk
I will celebrate
I believe his uncle looked after him I can't recall perfectly
I will not care if a test is tomorrow
The wikipedia goes over it
Yeah it's a case of karma basically
Well of justice really
Shinzo was likely another twat politician of Japan who ignored the greater issue of depression and overwork going all throughout the country
Even blamed the right person, the guy who literally bankrolled the entire cult
I see it as retribution.
Like my mother smh
Standard fare for Japanese politicians

That gun though
And now they elected a party that's generally considered very far right in Japan.
One of their main complaints is that people don't work enough btw
I'm converting to creatonism, I've been thinking throughout my life and this is my final conclusion
People in power should not be allowed to say "Have sex. Raise children" in response to a severe decline in birth rate.
You see, the problem is that is a complicated issue with many societal factors
Without any consequences. It only tells the population that you do not give a fuck.
Why should I try to tackle a complex problem?
When I can tell people to just fuck??
Trve
Don't worry they're going to try more of the stick method for this when the useless nagging doesn't work
Fuck I love the Astartes animation (ignoring the Temu Multi las)
Wifi is cooked i think
Surely history won't repeat itself
I'm expecting tax hikes on people without children at a bare minimum within maybe five years
Atp I would literally kms to spite them
Reaaaalllll you've seen the menace Animation right
Game trailer animation made by the same dude who made astartes
My wifi is FUCKED
Need to see that
Ya not hard to find
You'll tell immediately its his work
Literally "menace game trailer"
still have no idea what that trailer is supposed to convey considering the gameplay doesn't really match the vibe
Would it be a bad idea to add a new personality to Vet called the Deathworlder?
Male Vet would have the more Stallone style American accent while the Female Vet would have a southern accent?
only if half of her voice lines are "bless your heart"
Would it be a bad idea, not really, but wouldn't work with most planet selection options.
Wouldn't be something I'd see reason to add tbh
So add Catachan as a planet
Oh yeah also have some random photos of lake Tahoe and some of the area around it I took
If the emperor's true form (or unpsychically enhanced form ig) is an old man, why does his geneseed turn people into giant buff lunatics
Cause his seed™ is filled with psyker juice
But it doesnt turn them INTO psykers
Literally that's the reason
Even the grey knights dont get their psykerness from the geneseed
No. Just enhances them.
Also the Emperor is still buff and gigantic and all that
Since his psyker powers change his body.
Every blank also sees someone different also
But wasnt there fluff about the sisters of silence seeing a weak little guy
Ohhh
It's also worth noting that one blank saw the Emperor in his throne as a writhing man in pain
When he's a skeleton
But they saw a complete human being
And not moving
That’s in 40k and they don’t see him as small, he still fits the throne
He’s def an old skeleton now
Tho lol
Groaning in pain
It's a weird situation.
I believe that the Blanks just see his souls current state
The SoS excerpt is from 40k
The body itself is ignored
And the fragment of the on the throne is exactly what they see
Tbh I dont like that lore bc even if he isnt a normal human, he still IS a human. The idea that he is amorphous and has no true form doesnt make sense to me
It's what the alpha legion wa-
Tbf psyker powers are fucking weird
Magnus only has one eye because he decided it
Ordinarily it would've regenerated
As a reminder and lesson of sorts
Definitely needed his other eye poked out let's be fair here...

Not enough wisdom gained clearly
I wouldn't be surprised if it did and he just keeps his eye shut lmao
And also its a huge waste of a good metaphor for fascism, behind all this bravado and golden armor he is literally just a tiny old man who is physically helpless without his psyker powers
He doesnt really know what he's doing
Nah there's still a scar there
If it had healed, it would've also healed the slice
Would it, you can have a scar on a healed wound
But anyway, this is entirely irrelevant
Again, I think it's his soul rather than his body
Fragments of his soul is constantly portrayed as an old man
We need anime truck girls to repair the damage.
I find it funny that this trope was basically inspired by what was essentially national trauma from a really old magical girl anime
Minky Momo
And it was done out of sheer spite of the toy company that fucked over their funding

Tldr; Anime was lighthearted until the MC, who was a little girl btw, got hit by a fucking toy truck and died
Also the episode before this, she lost her powers
That was literally the finale of the show
...and bc its a norse mythology reference and gw's modus operandi is to copy things wholesale
Yeah except he didn't gain jackshit in terms of wisdom
Which is definitely the intention
Pain doesn't make you wiser
In fact, it often does the opposite
I kinda interpret it as commentary of sorts
On how the Imperium's ethos even back then was wrong
If pain and hardship truly made a person strong and intelligent.
Then none of the primarchs would have done any of the stupid shit that they did
Not to discourage deeper thinking but this is probably not what the authors meant
But good analysis nonetheless
Probably not
Death of the author and allat
But Shakespeare would probably fail a test on his own work tbh
"The fuck? I just had Macbeth see the knife floating cause he's crazy."

Death of the Author often results in rebirth
A lot of plotlines are inspired by fans somewhat
In an optimal scenario
Both the fan base and the author borrow from each other
And go on to create new ideas
Often times when one is dissatisfied for the other
That's when stories generally become shit
I mean tbh i feel like people like shakespeare DO actually think about that kinda stuff, i'm just saying gw's common denominator lore writers probably dont
Miraculous Ladybug moment
Eh. Shakespeare's plays were actually famous for appealing to the common denominator
The reason why they are well known is because at the time, both poor and rich people enjoyed his plays.
That doesnt mean HE was or HE didnt have any intention or meaning behind it
He was the first artist that appeared to the common denominator
And yeah it was definitely meant for more than that
Easily understood =/= vapid
But what about the wookies on kashyyk
They are the ones who simultaneously insist 40k is a satire on fascism while also doing backflips to justify every evil thing the fascists do
But authors often say silent
Because it's better to let the people decide their own meanings
Yeah that's a main problem of the 40k books
On a surface level, there is justification
Only by digging deeper do you find
"oh it actually isn't in the slightest"
Like the Interex is an example of the Emperor being wrong
But no beginner fan would know about them
Because the Horus Heresy series is so fucking huge
Even then he has that bullshit future sight
Which honestly
I think it is the biggest writing mistake for the Emperor
He shouldn't have had deep future sight
At most the sight should've gone as far as
"Will I win X battle?"
The next meal?
Instead of "I am working towards a possible future"
Because that means
If I hit myself in the head a couple of times and damage my brain
That the Imperium is justified on some level because there's a chance that the ends do justify the means
I mean sometimes
Of course it failed
I mean I don't mind some of it. Especially since I think some authors attempted to course correct.
Killing everyone that knows about Chaos or the Grey Knights existing
...they eventually gave up and everything was basically normal
Implying that it was never necessary to begin with
I'm just saying that i dont really think that most of gw's writers are very... concerned with philosophy or saying anything about society
True
Although I definitely think there is commentary on society for some of the books
I feel like most of the "deeper lore" you mentioned is course correction tbh
Like Eisenhorn dealing with the veterans who see "Chaos" everywhere
But they're just attacking regular ass people. Their paranoia overtaking them
Obviously a sign of the lack of support the Imperium (and let's be fair here society in general) gives to Veterans
Especially those who are mentally ill
Of course the Imperium wouldn't care about Veterans
Sometimes there might be subtext that is intentional and sometimes there isn't
Maybe they only put it in cause it's cool or maybe they did genuinely mean it
But either way, even Bolter slop has some symbolism.
It's just that there's not many

Yeah those were examples
Part of why I adore darktides handling of the player characters is all of them are downtrodden and beaten down and sad and theyre fighting in dingy cramped looking impoverished hive cities and theyre all so human with flaws and fears and insecurities.
You can totally make an argument that it downplays the jingoistic fantasy that other 40k media like sm2 cultivates, but my main thing is that it is objectively much more interesting
Sm2's characters barely speak and when they do they only prove how little personality they actually have
Again, I think at least the primarchs were somewhat thought through.
Mortarion is part of Nurgle. And Nurgle generally is about relationships and toxicity.
So of course they would give him no mother and like 3 bad father figures
LMAO
Yeah it is funny
But it's also how generally kids who undergo abuse generally have a fucked up idea on love
And although Mortarion is somewhat aware of it
He can't stop himself
He rots in his misery
Because he feels powerless. He can't do anything
All he can do is decay
Mentally
Physically
Emotionally
What was once meant to be a paragon of humanity's potential. The son of the most powerful human ever.
Is powerless.
Or at least... that's what he thinks.
But yeah some 40k media is clearly meaning to try and get you thinking somewhat
While others are like SM2
Also I would argue it shows that grimdark doesnt have to mean everyone is irredeemably evil, even if all the institutions are.
Many of the dt personalities are shown to actually be fully capable of things like compassionate even despite their circumstances and their general fucked upness. Follows in vermintide's footsteps in that sense imo
The problem with 40k is that the marketing never shows the more complicated side
It's always
Yes exactly
"SHOOT EVIL TYRANIDS!!!"
Tbf I don't think that SM2 is bad or bolterslop in general
Sometimes all you want is to shoot some orks
Or bugs
Respectable opinion even if I disagree
But I do generally think that the marketing needs to show more of the Imperium's evil
And the games
Aeldari game plz
Although SM2 does try to add SOME of it
As awful as the story itself is
The environment is great
Striking scorpion game plz
I remember a post being shocked at the cherubs
Being in the beginning
But that's subtle.
And people can ignore that
Yes the art direction is very nice but imo its a bit too clean and majestic.
Imo
But the people who made SM2 clearly enjoy 40k
And know what it's about
They just wanted to make bolterslop
Fair point
Darktide is generally better for showing a microcosm of the Imperium
With the environments being way more varied
They do clearly enjoy it, but sm2 representation of 40k is mid imo. Especially the space marine part. Dont like it at all.
People do be people tho... it makes me think about how much people can be blamed for what they are if their circumstances are so abhorrent. Obviously its always a bit of both but to what degree im not sure. Idk if that was the intention but it doesnt really matter
True.
I always wished that SM had DLCs
Where you played as a Chaos marine
Its a safe portrayal i definitely agree
Yes, ive been saying this for ages. Sm2 is confiremed to not have this sadly. Sm3 on the other hand. High chance imo.
Its kind of like how you can look at ancient greek art and say thats pretty but it also did kind of lack substance tmu
I would maybe call it bolter slop if the ranged weapons or their ten variants each felt impactful or meaningfully different in the slightest
In general, morality in the 40k is fucked up. That's kinda the point
The general consensus of morality has degenerated
Fucked up in the sense its evil, and fucked up in the sense that its very jumbled and difficult to parse
So talking about it in general and talking about it in universe is different
And tbf that's often how morality is.
Not in the sense that it is evil
Like 40k obviously is
But that going into detail is a rabbit hole that will have you go in circles
Lowk I almost think that some of the imperium's evils are cultural issues rather than institutional ones, even if obv the imperium is responsible for both
Like i dont think there would be much imperial pushback to a planet banning servitors being made from natty humans and only being made from inherently unconscious vat grown ones, but afaik none of them have because servitors are largely a cultural problem rather than an institutional one
Oh it 100% is.
Servitors are only normalized in the Imperium. The Imperium and Mechanicus could easily use like...
Regular robots.
But because of the species wide trauma of the MoI rebellion. They illogically refuse to use any type of machine.
To give an example
The sound design for a lot of the guns is just so bad imo. Not bad as in the quality, but bad as in the representation. Bolters feel like normal guns when they should feel like bolters imo. But some do sound quite good.
They literally do use regular robots and theyre not considered heresy
Yes, and that's also why it's illogical
They do use regular robots but they're even simpler than servitors
Tmk theyre described as being run by "wetware" algorithms, which does imply that theres some sort of vat grown neuron integration maybe? But theyre clearly not conscious and never were
The Mechanicus (and by extension the Imperium) is so culturally afraid of taking those robots further
And most cogitators are also like this
That they would rather become cruel and use people
And tbf theyre such morons that many sects prolly just straight up dont know where they are
Basically "there is a reason for it but that reason is basically a decision made in a panic induced frenzy"
I swapped from bolt auto to bolt carbine and noticed that nothing meaningful changes except for the scope and maybe mag size LMAO
And yeah the sound design definitely plays into them feeling bad

And I've also read some mechanicus sects, or at least the forge thralls beneath them, seem to think that being made into a servitor is actually a somewhat merciful or charitable thing to do to a heretic because it allows them to serve even when they otherwise wouldnt, and machines are better than flesh blah blah blah
Which is even more chilling than them just not caring tbh
Basically the entire point of the Imperium is
"Don't let it get to the point where we're arguing about whether a normal hiver is to blame for using a lobotomized person as an appliance"
Tech thralls are a Mechanicus wide thing yeah
Wait nvm
I misread
What you said is true though
I think forge thralls and tech thralls are different things
What warhammer stuff should i mention to my therapist next
Jeez kek
Forge thralls are regular unaugmented workers and tech thralls are hastily converted quasi servitors who arent lobotomised but still have the slave circuit right?
I think Servitors are mostly at least lobotmized
But tech thralls aren't
Like even by default
How can you be- oh lord.
They literally can't control their body
Yep
Nailed it
Tech thralls also can be left independent
If the overseer wants
But in battle they’re always slaved
Wait are they just played like cod by tech priests lmfao
Oh no
also roomba
Kek
Not lobotomized. Lower than servitors
Actually cooked.
Why aren't they lobotomized
I think a lot of the gun design in sm2 has to do with GW stuff. GW obviously has their restrictions, and considering that most primaris guns havethe most minor of differences between them, saber didnt have much of a choice. Either have a bunch of guns that feel samey or have very few guns. They chose the first option. At least thats how i see it.
Cooked.
They are probably less popular than servitors for this reason tbf. Lobotomising them makes them more docile and less likely to malfunction
I think its because theyre usually deployed as cannon fodder and expected to die quickly on top of it being just for plain torture
Okay so it's punishment

Yeah also as per the Servitors/Raveners KT book servitors are way more specialized
Actually in hell
they are like tactical murder-roombas
Servitors are expensive as fuck lol
Kill them immediately
Costco servitors
They got a bunch of chemicals pumped into em to preserve em
Among other things
Need to feed them
A tech thrall can feed itself
Which ironically makes them more valuable than they were when they were regular humans.
Which also makes the mechanicus seeing it as a reward or mercy make even more sense
Literally the equivalent of using the laser musket from Fallout 4

Its a little like uhmmm yk how penitent engines dont have armor protecting the pilot
If I was a high tech priest Id improve all servitors lives..
Ngl I actually want a Laslock as a weapon in Darktide
Salamanders when they see a human:
don’t worry little one, you’re safe with us
salamanders when they see a Xenos:
That would be fun
You can say that now but you dont know how you'd think if you were put through the ringer of indoctrination
Oh NO OH NO
Like imagine using it as basically a blunderbuss
Tho I do agree ofc
Replace salamanders with ogryns
My wholesome whimsy cannot falter. My servitors will have only the best lives!!
Idk why I find Penitent Engines stupid for the Imperium.
But I do.
Because like, even on a cruel level. I believe that it's stupid because the punishment usually ends too soon.
And not only that but you lose a valuable mech
I said Salamander cause one of his guns sets people on fire
Yes but do keep in mind they have organised their society around the worship of inanimate objects
But there is a version of the Penitent engine where the victim is like
Stuck inside a spiked coffin?
Like that's what I think Penitent Engines should be by default
Honestly seeing them described and seeing them here now makes them 20x more scary lmfao
meanwhile skitariis are nothing but glorified cultists with gadgets
But otherwise theyd just be dreadnoughts
On a practical level, your mech wouldn't be disabled by one lasgun shot
They’re like the sisters of battle to the ecclisarchy
That one just has no arm
Funny init
Goddamn
On a cruelty level, it's still painful for the victim
Yeah but having the victim be exposed to fire is stupid
It is but gw is stupid so
Make a different design at least
I never really liked how they looked tbh. Too much skin exposed. Indecent really
some peniten engines are basically iron maidens on legs tho
Even the most religious zealot would think internally
Idk I think its p reasonable to put people in pain boxes
Marathon looks so cool
"armor = protection"

Yeah that's what I think should be the default for the engines
Which game you speak
Midathon
Either that or have it be run by a rudimentary AI and the person is basically decoration
I obliterated penitent engines with my dunecrawler on my 20k apocalypse game
Marathon going from Doom era FPS to the extraction shooter gives me whiplash
Speaking of
The person there is just for punishment
one of them was stuck with plague ogryns in a trench, blocking my immortals' aim
MIDA mentioned
Its really hard to kill an astartes w lasguns yeah
penitent engines perform poorly but it's understandable
That's honestly a better direction.
Marathon was basically made as a doom clone for macs originally
Plasma gun tho?
Yeah they’re red dust on the wind now
I hate anything Bungie does with a passion.
They should have made it not an extraction shooter I’m ngl
lol
Yeah idk what Bungie was thinking
Should have made it have unique gameplay lmao
It does from what I can tell
Shows how little of the "old Bungie" remained
Yeah plasma is plasma no matter who holds it. I think I saw one off'd by one in sm2
Unfortunately it’s an extraction shooter
But hey at least it should be fun
Need my extraction slop

Idk why they called it marathon
It’ll appeal to a specific audience
So they can use the factions from the old Marathon games and some lore
Marathon for who gets bigger kill number
I know
But like at least make it clear that it's a side game
Because I hope it's not a full reboot of the series itself
Idk how that would even fucking work
A new single player marathon should be called Marathon
It should've had the tagline like
"Marathon: Extraction"
It’s not a reboot as far as I can tell
The best thing to come out of new marathon, is that really cool cinematic trailer made by that one guy that makes cool animations
Also MIDA became even more extremist
Yeah naming it just Marathon
Nah the aesthetic is great tbh
It probably takes place before the first game
My best guess is that anyways
Don’t you like your faction representative of a g r u b
It seems to be after bcs MIDA has a sizable base to hire mercenaries
To serve their interests
Yeah so technically it's a prequel
Which mostly are just terrorism
Is it though?
Since the marathon games takes place after that whole thing
It could be a sequel
@storm jungle
MIDA could have restablished itself
The most powerful "go fuck yourself"
I hope they didn't forget about Durandel tbqh
True but it would be an alt. Future type of thing
Since timelines usually have Durandal with aliens fighting against another alien faction
Either that or a prequel since that has a whole war with MIDA
ARG says Mars was granted independence eventually
And besides the backstory of Durandal it's pretty much unimportant tbh
So sometime during Marathon 1
Since Marathon 1 takes place far away from Mars
MIDA is around as a militant arm still to ensure Mars’s interests are represented
It would seem
The spaceship is basically in another system
Idk their representative looks completely sane and rational
Hundreds of light years away
I think he’s right and I should put bombs on my chest
Completely reasonable looking individual
The fuck is that
Just like Captain Wolfer
Some rave party goer
I don't mind the style change though tbh
Since Marathon didn't really have that much of a recognizable style
It’s MIDA’s representative in Marathon(the extraction shooter)
The new art style is really pretty
It doesn't look bad at all
And also they only had the fucking 1990s game to work with which had
A lot of generic ass designs let's be fair here
Still absurd to me they plagiarized art for the random background signage in the game though
💀
Fucks sake lol
Anyways yeah my favorite marathon faction representative is the grub
I like the grub
The Resurrected Cyborg Super Soldier that is the protagonist throughout Marathon looks like this btw
Which doesn't look like what he actually is
lol
you know I've wondered for a while if GW just stole the Marathon logo for the Tau, is that actually the case
C'mon man he's literally called a Battleroid
No, no, no! You dont understand! It was a previous employee that no longer works here! We are blameless! Just like the other 8 times we got caught stealing shit
Or did Bungie take it from someone first
His design is also kinda inconsistent also
This was in Marathon 2
I don't blame them for going a new direction for the art style
The Plagiarism makes me worried though
It was just for signage(as far as we know)
The artstyle itself looks unique
But fuck if I know
I mean...
Tbf it's literally a circle with a line
But don’t worry Marathon much like the original trilogy will be the same
No one will play it
And halo is better/j
^
its lke
very much not really a super creative symbol lol
Iirc it’s a reference to zero point theory
Or some shit
Apparently
Which makes no sense
Literally a missed opportunity to actually make it a Tau symbol
But tbf it's basically a fancy T
In terms of how it looks
No im talking about the marathon symbol
Yeah I know
I do agree the Tau symbol being the Greek letter tau would be funny
Also that makes sense in the context of Marathon
It's a shame the lore precludes any theories
It does
But it’s still like
Marathon makes FNAF look like a fucking preschool book with how complicated and OVERLY CONVOLUTED it is
I don’t fucking see it
Since Marathon (the ship) is one of Mar's moon or something
Marathon the extraction shooter is on Tau something
Seriously holy shit it did NOT need to be this complicated
Tau ceti 4
I genuinely think Bungie at the time were on drugs
Marathon infinity still gives me a headache plot wise
I hate it
1 and 2 are easy enough to comprehend
3 is genuinely field by meth
And that is BEFORE you treat Pathways into Darkness as a prequel!
Marathon Infinity is too complicated for its own good
The beginning is still one of the best intros ever
For a video game
Timeline jumping shenanigans
Do people actually do that 💀
Actually they prolly do
Durandal being genuinely scared
Still is the most memorable thing
Urging you to escape
Running from this weapon that the rival alien race released out of desperation
It also shows that he actually does care about you
Because he knows that he is doomed
But he still wants you to escape if there is a chance
Durandal is still one of the top 5 fictional AIs of all time tbh
Such an interesting character
It's implied that part of the reason why he went rampant is due to him being abused
Bungie not shifting away from the naming convention for the main AI characters in their game is funny
I do generally think that Bungie was gonna go in Halo 5's direction
I think the latest one is Joyeuse
Aka an AI takeover
But it would've been executed way better than whatever the fuck Halo 5 did
There are collectable tapes in Halo Reach
Entirely about a secret AI cabal trying to guide humanity
They aren't entirely portrayed as evil either
Bungie def had the AI rebellion thing planned if they were gona make more Halo’s
But the hacker is still going insane because well...
There's a secret AI cabal manipulating humanity for hundreds of years
But I think that the tapes are actually way more interesting
Than uh a fragment of Cortana becoming evil for nearly 0 reason
Actually what if the Marathon(2026) game is another universe reset
Not fully
But Durendel is in it
You mean an alt. Timeline?
Honestly would be very much plausible
But it would also be a prequel
Somewhat
I can imagine it being a prequel to Marathon 1
Since the protagonist was made for the war for Mars
I’m thinking it’s after marathon 1 but before 2
Timeline wise
Bcs MIDA/Mars are independent
And tau ceti 4 is abandoned of all human life
Yeah it would probably be during Marathon 1
Since Marathon 1 is hundreds of light years away
Things could have changed
I can imagine the ending or an event or something
Would be a message from Durandal
The one he sent warning about the aliens because he still feels some loyalty to aliens
I still want a marathon remake though
Like I don't care if remake culture is tired
Meh remakes are cool
The games are literally from the 1990s
Remakes are interesting bcs you can change stuff
I think it's fine to remake 30ish year old games
Remasters are just an old game redone 1 to 1
Honestly I just hope Infinity gets cleared up somewhat
The main problem I have is that it's way too vague
Partially because 90's video games were limited in storytelling options
And partially because the story itself is a mess
Infinity is not gona get cleared up i feel
If there is a remake
Also wait
Infinity is the third marathon game
Halo infinite was the third halo game made by 343
Is halo infinite a fucking marathon reference
Fair point, but at least have some smaller things be cleared up a bit.
Like the protagonist actually slowly gains control of his powers
They renamed the Weapon/Clone Cortana "Joyuese"
...
Yes
Yeah and because Halo
It's in the FUCKING BOOKS BECAUSE MICROSOFT AND 343 FUCKED UP THE DEVELOPMENT TEAM

The books are good.
But the problem is that everytime I read them
It's like
"Man if only this was in the games!"

And huge swathes of story are skipped
It's like they forgot that Bungie legitimately didn't want Halo 2 and Halo 3 to have a timeskip
They only did it out of time constraints
That had that excuse for AFTER infinite but not before
And not for 4 and 5
Wanna know who blue team is?
Read the books!
Wanna know what happened in-between 4 and 5?
Read the books!
This is my main gripe with Halo
If you want to follow the actual story
You can't
Unless if you read the books
Speaking of Halo, the new guy in Overwatch feels like a love letter to Halo gameplay
Emre
I want a Halo collab in that game, I mean both are owned by Microsoft so It’s not far fetched
I don't think Supplemental material is bad
T h
I just feel like Halo uses it as a crutch
Cheers
Good fucking riddance.
crazy
Alright I don’t like the guy but idk if celebrating someone getting cancer is a such a good thing
Doesn't mean death unfortunately
Hes a mass murdering child killing piece of shit
Like id get if it was some medium tier politician
but this is a literal fascist genocider lol
His cancer was promised to him 3000 years ago
Fair enough I suppose
Still I’d rather him face actual justice than get cancer and die. Then again you could argue the cancer is said karmic justice
God is real
There’s a Jewish dude at the local fighting game tournament who says “the 15$ pot was promised to me 3000 years ago”
KS0FK0SKF0SKF
Lmfao
Everytime he gets into semi finals
It’s so fucking funny
Without fail
I can’t get that stupid fucking phrase out my head now
Because he’s really good
So I hear it 2-3 times every night
Every Friday
Normally I wouldn't celebrate somebody who is basically diagnosed with a life threatening condition
At least he has a sense of humour, a rare thing for someone who plays fighting game tournaments for $15 indeed
Fortunately, this is an exception
Yes(he’s only won the 15$ pot like twice)
Normally.
Speaking of cancer, is Biden doing alright?
Tbf it’s a 1$ bracket fee I can’t complain lol
Oh
I heard nothing about him in a while
No clue tbh
We dunno, his family won’t talk about it so
He kinda disappeared
conspiracy theorist pretend he's died
Dude needs to take it easy
Old folks thing, they just disappear sometimes
Yeah I have like four people as an exception.
RFK Jr, Donald Trump, Kim Jong Un, and Netanyahu
trump slowly becoming a nurgle adept

If I ever win a tournament I should say that I gained the mandate of heaven
Remember when JD Vance for no fucking reason said he's prepared to take charge if something dramatic happened to trump
You have become the new Jade Emperor

While there was a rumor saying trump died
He’s got bruises all over his hand
I think he suffered a medical incident
Of some sort
When he disappeared suddenly
I think it's a sign of using a dementia slowing medicine
I can’t think of another reason to cancel that much shit
Emphasis on slowing
Not really
It doesn't stop it
Due to his face drooping, it was definitely some type of stroke
Do you think if you poured promethium on the chainaxe it would explode
