The Vietnam part of the Boys is a dig at the British government that’s pretty subtle

Basically the rifle that VA make for Vietnam is the SA80-A1, which the British government sent troops into the first gulf war with. It went badly.

Long story short H&K took two of the rifles back and went through them, now the SA80-A2 has a number of red dots on things like the firing pin, which used to bend, or the cocking handle, which used to snap.

These red dots show British soldiers exactly where the government cut corners when manufacturing the A1, despite the risk to the lives of the Soldiers.
