My only gripe is combat can feel very linear, like it’s either really hard to lose, or really hard to win, depending on the situation, as there’s not a lot of mechanics to change situations beyond some basic stuff. Also the game can have low replay ability as the missions are always the same and always appear in the same order, with the only random part being tech rewards

Basically Abaddon and other factors accidentally or purposefully (like imperial expedition teams etc) have been destroying Necron pylon networks since forever through history which helped destabilized the Warp's lingering effect around the Eye of Terror.

Cadia had the last biggest concentration of pylons on its surface right at the gate of the Eye and during the culmination of the Fall of Cadia trazyn taught Cawl how to activate them and they started closing the Eye so Abaddon did the most sensible thing and as the Fortress was just a lifeless floating husk after its infiltration by space wolves just used his ships to ram its hulk to the planet like a makeshift ram to shatter the pylons, the instability then made the Eye vomit forth the Rift from its center to across the entire middle of the galaxy.

TLDR: The fortress was just a ogryn rock being thrown on the planet to destroy the Pylons lol

There's actually just a bunch of Twitter bots and anybody that goes there just goes insane by the amount of

The few AI that we get from outside the wall are homicidal purely because they blame humanity for the amount of bots they have to deal with

So basically near the ending of the game you go down to a small black mesa-esque facility under the city and during the entire story mission there you can find a shard for either the gun Erebus or a hacking shard the Canto Deck, these are a part of rogue AI research and weaponization by Militech but the facility has been abandoned for years so they were just left there, you can only take and craft 1 after you complete the ending mission then go to free roam.

Basically the AIs from beyond the blackwall notice you have it and they "contact" you through the message and make the most devil-deal ever, basically you literally dont have to do anything but just sometimes use the gun to kill people, they know you will do it because you both dont have much time left due to the Relic chip from the main story and V is basically already unhinged as he/she is and doesnt care anyway as they dont have long in the world. In return the AI get to study any of the people you send beyond the Wall and probably torture and splice them apart for knowledge among other shit, every kill you make essentially makes their job easier to breach the Wall one day.

This is just a side-item btw, not even a critical main quest thing lmao
