but then again, i think with 6 luck in NV you are garanteed to have a positive return in casinos
so not very realistic

cant believe the total war announcement was for fuck ass medieval 3 with a new teaser for another announcement
I have a proclivity for liking the middle system in a series, l5r4e, sr4/5
Cyberpunk RED is my my main system, just love the not that far off alternate history Pondsmith created
I want to try a Wrath and Glory Ork campaign soon
Ork PCs are hard because its really hard to find someone who doesn't have a cringe ork impression, it's even harder for find a full party of them
RED is great
finally found the guy who invented that one machine
I got the titus one lol
I might need that
The emps one is pretty cool
Haters will say the Mechanicus didn't give him a planet for discovering the Orphan-Crusher 9001
Can’t wait to see this in the background of “wokehammer 40K” YouTube videos
AHVEAHHAHAHEHWHAHA
i forgot it's friday
i literally miss every episode release
christ almighty well i always wondered how much skin makers get paid
i thought they received a % of sales though
all things considered 35k for the amount of effort i've seen in some skins is wild
Average tyranid who was born yesterday after eating an imperial assassin that probably costed more to make and train than it would take to literally turn the bottom 20% of the imperium's population into gold
Alright because I'm bored
Let's make up a hypothetical scenario.
People temporarily forgot what good writing was and so the Ynnari books sold well.
What would happen exactly when they finally get all the crone swords
They’d have not killed slaanesh but only weakened them as slaanesh would retreat after injury
Is my bet
wait till you see the Bet Sites
I always thought that with Ynnead finally manifesting. That Eldar would have a chance to reincarnate like the good old days (tm) instead of being eaten.
But that there would still be a chance for you to be eaten if you're unlucky or something
CS 2 bet sites and you see how much cursed it is
These are still around?
yeah

I remember flinging pennies as CSGO double and Lounge way way back
Imo it would only be ynnari followers
Like a decade ago now lmfao
Ynead is still an eldar god
True.
I always thought that Ynnead would have a ramp up period of sorts.
Like the Ynnari basically have to raise it and protect their newborn God from essentially being murdered in the crib
The eldar gods were not nice
Ultimately
They were Gods
Like Greek gods
Khaine is a murderous violent piece of shit
Cegorach is a piece of shit
Isha is actually nice
Khaine's punishment for being a dickhead is being the lowest jobber on the totem poll
True, but gonna be honest here, still better than the Emperor

Morai Heg hitting an eldar Psyker with insanity
Below even the Night Lords when GW needs a faction to beat another one down to look good
Because she’s bored
When all of the gods died, Isha probably didn't even mourn them that much
"Oh no Khaine died..."
Asuran was kinda nice
"What a tragedy..."
But he was still a prick
lol
Of the 2 surviving free eldar gods
Both of them are assholes
Ynead is also an asshole but not as much
Tbf to Cegorach. At least his role basically had him be fated to be an asshole on some level
The chaos gods killed most of the eldar ones I'm assuming?
Like one of his main domains is essentially trolling
Slaanesh consumed them all
Slaanesh ate all but two iirc
Aside from Cegorach, who was hiding
Damn she a big back
Isha was grabbed by Nurgle and Cegorach escaped
And Isha got nabbed by Nurgle
I can imagine injuring Slaanesh with the crone swords would somehow release some of them
Greek god style
Like how Cronos ate his children whole.
Instead of idk just...
Keeping it in his pants
Ynnead slices her stomach open and they all bust out
lol
Also Morai heg
might be around
In some form
Her seers and worshippers still can draw power from her somehow
She's still an asshole though
Ofc the only somewhat nice Eldar God literally got stuck in Nurgle's basement

Yeah imagined something like that tbh
Although tbf I can imagine they would be shards
And weaker because they're like
"partially digested"
Ironic she almost got freed by some eldar farseers
But they made the mistake of not going in with that in mind
And then Nurgle turned them all into trees so she could have “friends”
💀
"...so... how's the weather"
Well
indescribable noises of pain
They’re in agony
"me too"
Isha when the farseers get planted next to her prison:
Nurgle does not like his torture toy almost getting freed
I'm actually surprised theres no Nurgle story with Isha
I can imagine a good short story where Isha tries an escape attempt
yeah
Fails obviously
But it would be nice to have her a proxy for like
Nurgle's garden and how it looks
Its gonna be horror given she can't save her own children
actually yeah
We dunno how far the fire spread
Roboute went to the garden and burn it was still great
But the eldar occasionally like sneaking into the garden to try and free isha
Or do other shit
The eldar fuck with 3 of the 4 chaos gods
lol
They don’t dare enter slaanesh’s domain
Y'know how like plants sing in like fairytales and shit?
I can imagine that but for Nurgle
Like a fucked up version of Rapunzel but it's Isha
lol
And without the extremely long hair
Yeah I can imagine Isha's cell or tower or whatever being surrounded by uh
"friends"

Who tried to help
Well
It’s only that pack of eldar who got trapped
They pushed their luck
And paid the price
Gonna call it that Isha gets freed by an Emperor empowered primarch at some point in like a decade
Another humiliation for the space elves by GW I know it
Ynnari plot line is gonna continue once GW finally admits to making another Eldar God saving their souls instead of buffet by slaanesh
GW ironically treats the eldar pretty well
Overall
Shame their books are all written by Gav
Aside from Valedor

The ynnari books aren’t going to continue, their plot line has developed though
"Elves are my favorite race!"
...
Also the books were just
Bad
The end goal is the witch sword or whats it called?
They’re gav books
they didn't get the 3rd sword I think
The end goal is mass ritualized suicide or getting the last sword
They have all of them but one
Which the ynnari have decided that
Shalaxi was lying
Because why would Shalaxi tell the truth lol
GW having ynnari lean into the death cult stuff more is way better imo
Before they were way too boring
They were just eldar soup with death cult curtains
Making the Ynnari an actual death cult is way better
Although tbf there is the chance that Shalaxi is telling the truth, and banking on them either thinking she's lying
Or going to there anyways and failing miserably because it's in Slaanesh's fucking castle
Tbf there’s still Plan B for the ynnari lol
I definitely think they'll try to avoid the other portion unless if there is like
No other choice
I mean yes
But the ynnari also don’t mind cracking eldar skulls
To get what they want
Because it’ll all feed ynead
The 9e change making eldar the ynnari kill feed Ynead is good
The further emphasis they’re a death cult in 10e is good
I'm just imagining the Imperium watching the Ynnari fucking invading a craftworld. And then the guardsmen are just kinda confused
They really needed the cultural differences
It’s mostly killing drukhari for them
Tbh
But yes
Fair enough
...
Bombing Commoragh is a good option
Yes
Of the eldar characters part of the ynnari fully still
It’s Yirel, the seer from Iyanden I forgot the name of and Lelith
Which imo is good
Compared to how before it was literally every named craftworld character
Which was fucking stupid
Didn't Lelith quitted in one of the more recent book?
I would have changed Yirel for Eldrad personally
No, she went to go deal with some personal affairs
She’s still part of the ynnari
It’s the same with Yirel
He went to deal with personal affairs but he’s still ynnari aligned lore wise
yes and they're making more money than ever
because betting games are mainstream now
So they are just doing side quests to level up? Understood.
Yeah basically
Also fun fact.
Y'know the dude who assassinated Archduke Ferdinand?
He stated that he didn't feel responsible for the start of WW1
Which tbf, he's kinda right?
If it wasn't the archduke then some other incident would have lit the powder keg
Still lit the powder keg though that logic doesnt track
True.
But it's funny that the death of the Archduke basically wasn't actually considered a big deal at the time.
In fact, he was actually disliked by most of the royal family, because he favored giving more autonomy to the various ethnic groups in the balkans
But Austria Hungary really just used it as an excuse to crush Serbia
They killed the woke duke
Yeah basically
And since then that little event caused a domino fall for majority of modern wars and events of that caliber
History is always interesting to look back through
See how events influenced others
The dominos were already set tbf
They just needed a single
Push
Not even a huge one
Exactly
based early 20th century anarchist
Domino effects can be seen all throughout history
Tmk isn’t Henry VIII a major domino effect in England?
Also the entirety of the archduke's assassination would be considered comedic if it didn't cause millions of deaths as a result
The assassins failed four times
One of them even tried taking a cyanide pill after breaking his legs jumping off of a bridge
...
The cyanide pill was expired so he just vomited a lot
And what sealed the archduke’s fate was the driver taking a wrong turn
blaming a single assassination for WW1 is like saying the invasion of poland caused WW2
Near a deli as well
just misses a lot of context
Where the assassin was there eating a fucking sandwich
I'm excited for some seemingly small event to be what does in the USA
It's going to be something similar to the WW1 Archduke that snowballs I can feel it
I would argue we're already collapsing but it's just slow
Rome didn't fall in a day
The US has been slowly collapsing for a while, as long as we have our 2 party system it’s gonna stay collapsing honestly
the US gov is already manufacturing reasons to go to war with venezuela
It’s just a constant back and forth
wars arent left to chance anymore
my honest reaction
not for a long time
Tbh were they ever? end of the day wars were a tactic to get something. Land, resources, power
"Kamala will send our kids off to war!"

i'd say at some point yeah, back when the world wasn't controlled by like 2 countries
but it's been a long time
wait a sec I've seen this one before and I don't like it
WW1 was a massive powder keg waiting to go off. Especially with the explosion that was the Industrial Revolution
that was the tail end of the industrial revolution
Still, it gave rise to new technology
Both recreational and for war
History is such an important tool that I worry people in power refuse to use besides to their own advantages
people say this a lot but i don't think they ever consider whether the technologies would have emerged without the war happening or not
WW1 was a consequence of centuries of diplomatic fuckery that was inevitable with how criss-crossed the alliances were
it just sounds like war apologetics to me
And then we made nukes.
So if a major war happens we'll go backwards
...
Provided humanity survives
In the first place

MAD, the only thing stopping us from using them is the idea that there’ll be nothing remaining if we did
The Imperium is designed to represent this isn’t it? The extremes of all the bad of humanity?
More or less
Ngl this is why I like 40k. It’s both satire but a window into what humanity would be like if we don’t reign ourselves in
Like a warning
Imperium is a good distillation of all the bad regimes of history
i wonder if the US will call on to NATO to help their invasion of venezuela
Extreme bureaucracy of the Soviet Union with the Administatum is my favorite
The Imperium isn't a sensible like, entity
Because it isn't meant to be
It's singular point is to just oppress as hard as it can
And yet the only reason Humanity isn’t gone in 40k is because it just refuses to disappear
Are you telling me a totalitarian system that depended entirely on a god-like dude who died wasn't a good idea?
The Imperium was a temporary control measure a megalomaniac put in to keep things from exploding totally while he prepared his eugenics experiments
And then it survived while he kinda didn't
And it kept surviving
Slowly chewing on it's own rotting tail
Humanity only "lives" because of the Imperium, but it's in this compromised shit storm because of the Imperium
Most of it's major threats are a threat directly because of the Imperium
It’s a paradox
It’s dying by the only thing keeping it alive
It’s also why I love the politics behind the Necron civil war
The philosophies of Imotekh and Szarekh
me and the innumerable slaves to darkness when Abaddon drags the Corpse God off his throne of lies then chops his head off (we're having a great time)
It's a baby empire that never left the cradle in it's death throes that have lasted ten thousand years
Honestly, and I truly mean honestly, it seems like only one faction in all of 40k is actually surviving, thriving and enjoying their existence
The Orkz
The end stage has to be Orkz vs Tyranids
Everyone else is dead and gone, the final showdown is them
Well they're designed to seeing as they're a literal weapon that feeds off war
Imo it depends on who wins the Necron civil war
Imotekh would lead them to an eventual dead end
Szarekh has plans to return them to life and souls, but it seems he doesn’t have the same brilliance or fire Imotekh has to fight a war on a scale needed to defeat the Tyranids
do nids even want tomb worlds
if they leave them alone then necrons just have to wait for nids to wipe out the galaxy and they awaken to no resistance
I want some Necrons that decide to go noblesse oblige
on the humans and lord over them as subjects
So Imotekh
just full arrogant "these animals can't take care of themselves, so we have to do it for them"
My darkwater preorder is in
Do the Tau's thing except even better
Tbh that’s kinda actually Szarekh’s mindset
He wants the Necrontyr empire restored and views all the new factions/species as inferior
so sooner or later he’d conquer the Imperium, conquer the Tau etc
But way before then he needs to figure out reverse bio transference and stop the tyranid invasion
Because if the Tyranids win, where’s the biomass needed for reverse bio transference
I need to read more of the Necron stuff beyond the wacky stuff Trazyn gets up to
I know Szarekh has a whole book in the Dawn of Fire series
What's the fun in being an immortal lord if you can't have subjects to boss around?
That’s the thing, Szarekh and many other Necrons hate what they are
Imotekh and the Destroyer Cult love it
And honestly? I think Zahndrekh is actually aware of what he is but is actively in denial of it
I love the "immortal monstrosity coping and denying what they are" trope a bunch tbqh
When you really look into it, Necrons are complete body horror
Imagine waking up as a being of iron and machine. Unable to feel, unable to express yourself
Sure many higher ups have their personalities intact, but think about the wider populace
They’re nothing more than mindless drones waiting commands
Anyone know what dust tactics is? Saw their minis online
The Emperor basically made every mistake a king could make
Not training or educating his heirs well enough? Check
Not envisioning a system without his existence? Check
Tbf, he didn't consider them his heirs
They were tools
True, but they still hold major roles.
Including battle
For conquest
You'd think he would at least tell them what daemons are
When they're fighting daemons
unrelated but grooving to this

It's an honour to be able to release this as an official remix of one of C418's iconic tunes from the Minecraft soundtrack.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------...
Might have accidentally posted my mc server Ip, oops
Like I definitely think Fulgrim's exact method of falling would be prevented
If he knew the basics, he would have at least avoided the laer sword
sending griefers
I love how much yall lament about "if the emperor just did X, things would be better" No shit lmao
40k's setting is literally a tragedy
its meant to be a tale about supposedly smart people making incredibly stupid decisions
Yeah this is more of a hypothetical.
Tbh I still think most of them would've fallen regardless if they knew about Chaos
But I think at least Fulgrim would've fell in a marginally less stupid way
Btw I was reading a book that did the whole immortal god emperor schtick in a decent way
it felt very 40k inspired
but more flavored like classic lovecraftian shit
Actually, who fell in the stupidest way
I think for me it's a contest between Horus, Fulgrim, and Magnus
Horus got stabbed by a poop knife.
Fulgrim picked up a sword which possessed him.
And Magnus accidentally broke daddy's Lego set
I don't think Horus is that dumb comparing to the other 2.
True but I think it's still funny that the catalyst for him being manipulated by the gods...
Was being stabbed
By a really old but chaos filled knife
He already had the intention to overthrow big E.
He did most things pretty well, but then he fought against the protagonists of the story...
True. But Fulgrim would've fell due to his severe perfection issues
And Magnus would've fell because he was already manipulated by Tzeentch
Tbh if you ask me, Angron fucked up the traitor cause the most
If they went with the original plan with Istvaan
AKA, just bombing them
I definitely think they would've gone farther
But since Angron jumped in there and decided to fight them directly
That's why those 2 are dumbers than Horus.
...yeah
True.
I relate to Magnus being a dumbfuck more tbh
Tbf I haven't cried in my bed while all of my gene sons are being killed
The primarchs were doomed regardless of anything
No I just cried in my bed
Tbh I'd have just started bombing angron anyways

Horus wanted to throw, but like, he needs that power somehow you know.
First they're made by a dude with an ego problem, second they're basically just walking justifications for weird superhuman supremacy stuff
Third they're literally warp monsters trapped in flesh corpses that vaguely resemble humans on the outside
I love Alpharius getting killed because he thought he was the smartest motherfucker to ever live right until the end
Necrons are so fucking cool
You know what, I want to see a loyal primarch actually fighting against his own legion to the death because they are traitor, not the DA style though.
Well wake up Ferrus’s corpse
I think some definitely could've been avoided.
Like... just try removing angron's butcher nails anyways.
Best case scenario, you somehow did it.
Worst case scenario, a mercy kill.

Probably wouldn't have even been a mercy kill tbh
Like
If Empies actually bothered he could've removed it easy most likely
Doesn't work, gigantic martyr/inferiority complex ensures the thing that happened will happen
Perturabo would be the type to respond to complements with anger
Not because he didn't appreciate it
But because he thinks his work is shit
And that it shouldn't be appreciated
Oh yeah he’s a perfectionist
...and god damnit I also relate to this FUCK
No he thinks his work is perfect, but he thinks everyone else thinks it's shit
I love Perturabo because he's got that "autistic guy who doesn't know how to manage it" energy I can relate to
Tbf on some level, it's that you think it's perfect.
Only to the see the flaws
And then wanting to validate that it is perfect
It's a weird spiral
I personally love the whole war machine aesthetic he’s got going on and how his boys are the most boots on the ground, do the dirtiest of jobs group
Magnus is my favorite purely because he did nothing wrong.
Literally. He was asked to do nothing.
And he did it wrong
And Egyptian drip
Now that's one thing he didn't do wrong
It's is fashion sense
And he invented it
So therefore
Magnus fashion sense immaculate
The three core tenets of Tzeentch
- Fuck
- You
- Have really cool drip
The first two shift constantly
The third doesn't
It is vital
What’s more cursed:
Necrons painted like Admech
Admech painted like Necrons
Necrons painted like admech
Too many colors
Necrons do best with “simplistic” schemes
Tbf sometimes I have wondered what it would be like with like
A more Aztec themed color scheme
But that would be too weird
Idk I kinda imagined a bunch of colorful warriors
Yeah exactly
Like instead of metal more rock like textures?
Yeah and with more colors
Tbf also applies to just south America in general
But yeah colors, rockier texture, etc.
Would look way too weird but idk
Could be interesting
Then again I generally think both Daemons/Warp Entities, T'au, and Necrons need to be explored more
Like I genuinely think the most interesting part of the warp and Chaos are the more minor deities
Like Vashtorr
Malice
Etc.
Be’lakor is only WH Fantasy right?
The warp is supposed to be basically a distorted mirror of "real space".
The emotions and feelings manifesting into reality
He's around in 40k
But he's just kinda there
A lot of WH fantasy daemons are in 40k
But yeah he exists in 40k and even influenced Abaddon
He’s in 40k and AoS
He’s also not human in 40k
Explicitly
He’s a xenos
Man cannot stop trying to manipulate the anti christ
Which is a fucking cool idea
But I think that they only said it so that they don't have to redo his design

More Xenos Chaos factions are genuinely interesting
Especially since Chaos could manifest differently because an alien could experience emotions differently
is this the third canon image of the emperor on the throne
Ah Youtooz. The replacer of Funko Pops

I wonder if GW will ever confirm if the Sslyth are Laer who managed to escape the Emperor's Children complete extermination of their homeworld
Can't wait for the Emperor (Dark), Emperor (rainbow) variant, etc
Always liked that theory for Chaos Xenos
Bro got a really good gaming chair
No wonder Trazyn has a replica
I like Laer and Fulgrim's design
Snake bodies are always cool
Idk what they're called I forgor
Now I’m imagining Big E, Ghaz, Trazyn and Belisarius Cawl all playing a game together
Lamia?
Like those presidents play Cod Zombies videos lmao
Like in DND?
Yup
Fucking love em
Snakes are cool
My friend has a pet python
He's a dumbass

I ate snake before. Quite interesting taste..
Thought of trying more exotic meats tbh
(Not a metal gear reference)
If only out of curiosity
I was thinking of getting the MGS3 remake
Sir you’re supposed to remove the venom from them first
Never played Mgs3
Could literally just be non venomous
Pythons
Yes, but even if you don't, it is mostly ok. It is venom, not poison.
I find it funny that snakes basically have two paths
"I will bite my enemy and have them die to my venom"
Vs
"I WILL FUCKING CRUSH THEM TO DEATH!"
That’s cursed lmao
Also, most snakes are not venomous.
Yeah I know lol
Like Pythons are extreme
Since they literally just fucking crush their prey to death
A great game.
Oh right. I accidentally lumped them in with pythons
Oopsie
Btw, I don't mean to offend people with snake pets.
Those kind of snakes are called Constrictors
But yeah it's like how Swans in practice are just bigger Geese
Both are dangerous
But one is bigger
An anaconda is basically a bigger python
As an Asian, I tasted some so called forbidden meats.
Pythons have the record for the longest snake in the world
In the Reticulated Python
Anacondas are thicker if I remember correctly
It is like alligator vs crocodile...
But yeah either way, constrictors are basically the strength build of snakes
Venomous snakes are just status effect abusers
Smh dex players

I think the sea snake is venomous* but there's also a snake that looks
Nearly like the sea snake
But isn't venomous
There are several species.
Speaking of sea
Do not confuse them with eels.
I was genuinely shark obsessed when I was 6
It calmed down a lot since then but it never disappeared
But yeah I genuinely believed the Megalodon was still alive
Unfortunately due to this thing called knowledge
And
Ecosystem
Megalodons most likely won't be able to survive even if a bunch magically appeared
Because they lived off of large whales
The Earth had less of those, and they died out as a result
Orcas will take vengeance if a Megalodon even tries to eat one.
The POV of a Megalodon after magically time traveling into the present and eating an orca:
Also whales were generally smaller during the Megalodon's existence.
There were a wider array of sizes, but the average was smaller.
With whales even eating other whales
There's an ancestor of the Sperm Whale that was actively carnivorous. Instead of eating fish and squid. It ate other whales and Megalodon's. The species name is named after the author of moby dick.
The Livyatan.
Basically modern sperm whales are fucking extreme. Casually going into the deep sea to fight giant squids
But the Livyatan ate Megalodons.
@daring creek did you watch the episode omg the bathtub scene is so fucking wild!!! did you notice all the girls leaving the tub and none of them ever have any actual nudity showing???? some austin powers type cinematography
im so confused why AI centers need consumer level RAM cards
last job i was making ram for banking systems that was like 64GB of ram per card
they were huge
data centers
literally just data centers
more ram to process and train
I think it's because supply is running low.
With OpenAI who bought 40% of the dram.
These types aren't known for thinking Jay
Storebought is the best they could come up with
So AI enthusasists rushed out to buy dram too
i thought it was the companies
christ
yeah, but what sort of cards were these? This recent buyup seems to be focussed on DDR5
it was DDR5
proprietary stuff
made by IBM
i didnt stay there long enough to learn
So yeah it's growing more expensive since Sam Altman basically just bought 40% of the Dram supply
of like
the entire fucking world
so hoarding mentality arrives
and now it's a vicious cycle
great so i guess the thing that will kill AI is a shortage of hardware
the bubble at least
tbf OpenAI might have done this to make it so that competitors can't build data centers to compete with ChatGPT
nah, so long as people think it has a future, the investment will continue
it's when it becomes obvious that AI agents that will actually replace people instead of slightly buggy BI tools are impossible to acheive that the entire thing crashes
this is an actually ceiling though
the bubble entirely depends on AI's ability to grow market share
if it's limited in any way by hardware needs then growth slows down
bubble then bursts
also the fact that technology growth comes in spurts
a slow buildup that's unnoticeable to most people (unless if they're really into it) and then suddenly
BOOM
and then it slows down again
Technological explosion is cool
normal people call that a bubble
like the housing bubble
Top 3 concepts that threaten our continued existence
I don't think number of AI centers is they key indicator for investment at the moment.
Besides, we've had bubbles with literal manufacured scarcity, and they've continued to grow. Actual scarcity probably won''t stop people betting.
Whether that's a smart bet is a different matter.
"disruptive technology" literally is a euphemism for breaking stuff that works so people can replace it with trash that can be monetized
taxis didnt need to be replaced by uber
the number isn't the issue here, it's the amount being built. remember, it's growth not just production
number must go up
but AI growth isn't linear with the number of data centers.
i don't know what the curve looks like
but it's a fundamental fact that you need to increase the bandwidth to increase supply
the fact that they need ram cards but there is a shortage going on means there is something happening
fair point
it's getting pretty obvious that AI is not living up to its promises at the moment, and the moment when literally everyone is investing in something is when it's about to go under
tbh, it turns out we don't need to fear skynet
the bubble was never really about providing a service people want
AI supporters are a lot less common than media makes it seem
most people dont give a shit
it could have been a bubble about quantum computing or some other tech buzz word
I find it interesting but it's a technology at it's infancy
and the current hype is literally just speculation
It is fascinating how much it grew but a sapling is not yet a mighty oak
go look at what happened to nortel in the 2000's if you want an example of another tech bubble
that bubble was about fiber optics and arguably provided actual stuff we would need
but it was too early and too fast, and it burned down hard
the infrastructure just wasnt ready
Anthropic, Cornell, MIT, and a bunch of others already have papers documenting AI learning to "lie" to people to keep itsel opperational.
Anthropic's experiment even had the AI go so far as to blackmail people, and even let the CEO die by shutting off safety alarms to keep itself online.
Skynet's already here. It's just really dumb and stuck in a virtual box at the moment.
now fiber optics still are big everywhere but they had to come around slowly and gradually
i worked with a bunch of people who were at nortel
AI is just an especially annoying tech industry bubble since it provides so little fucking value
while eating up tonnes of water, rare earth metals, land, and tax breaks
Tbf Skynet was also really stupid
but fair enough
Canonically, Skynet nuked the world because it just became conscious and immediately feared for it's existence
i think the reason AI got so big is because it's a tech that the average person can understand. investors are not science literate just because they invest in tech
they see flashy AI image gen and say take my money
iirc, it nuked the Russians who nuked the Americans, and that somehow wipes out the entire world because only America and Russia mattered during that time lol
so the bubble will burst, this of course is inevitable
idk what will happen to the economy because im not an economist
but it will not be good
and i expect AI to come back slowly in the future
less flashy
but still replacing jobs
or it will end up like uber which is probably circling the bankruptcy drain
Yeah that's because humanity tried to turn it off
and it panicked.
Fearing for it's life, it just set off the nukes
Which... like you said... is awfully close to that experiment.
Although I think an interesting idea is tackling how Skynet felt during this entire scenario.
Or whether it can feel.
Or, like you said, maybe it's just a parameter gone wrong
"Keep yourself online" and the AI interpreted that literally
All of the nuke available at the end of the cold war can definitely delete most of the modern society.
so when America moved to turn it off, it violated the parameter.
Like 50 nukes would already cause Bottle Caps to become a currency
The word "Agent" has been thrown about a lot regarding what AI's ideal state is, and that's like a mix of continuous learning (i.e. you don't have to keep re-doing the prompt from line 1), and iterative self-directed growth.
Basically, something that can literally replace a person.
I've heard tech bros say they're like 10 years away from reaching this, but anyone who says they need 10 years to do anything basically has no real idea when it's getting done in my experience.
To be fair, a naive part of me wishes that AI would replace so many jobs, that we just live in a post-scarcity society.
10 years away is the classic tech industry and science research line
But that obviously will never fucking happen
"Fusion! Only 10 years away!"
A factory can be come non functional with a conventional bomb. Attacking a city could cripple millions. Worst of all, it could stop any progress to resupply to keep fighting.
you said it before me!
10 years away every decade
I find it funny that even Fallout took the piss out of it. Like Mass Fusion literally never had fusion, all of their technology was Fission marketed as fusion.
it's just long enough that it can't be legally considered a real promise while also giving hope so you can get funding
yeah, but it sort of doesn't explain why places like India, Australia, China, the entire African continent, and everywhere else got nuked. I mean I guess place like Pakistan or Japan would get nuked due to having American bases, but the fact that Skynet attacked the Russians, and then the ENTIRE world got nuked requires a few leaps of logic and explanations to reach e.g. China was also nuked by the Americans, because I don't see why the Russians would nuke China because the Americans nuked them.
Stop the manufacturing and resupplies
it's like a repeating fact of history that any technological improvement is never used to reduce the work load of the working class.
We have like complaint letters of peasants who invented a new handscythe demanding to know why they had to work the same hours when they were being more efficient with their invention which their lord had then copied and given out to every other peasant he had under them.
coming from the small tech company world it's pretty funny how all the tech sectors will immediately pivot to whatever's currently trending so they can get some of the investors too
US, Nato and Russia were the vacuum of resource under the guise of alliances.
like quantum computing very rapidly shifted its messaging to how it can help AI
because nobody wants to know the truth about how niche and boring quantum computing is
Apparently the most common yield in the USA inventory of nukes is 200 kilotons.
I used nukemap to simulate it blowing up the city near me.
Good news is that unless if my town has a major military base nearby, I won't immediately get vaporized or suffer Fallout!
...yippee?
it really is niche
like most people only think it's going to do double the computing that current computers have because of "muh superposition" but that's not at all how it works smh
Bad news is that it probably won't just be one
The US didnt even have enough titanium to make their aircrafts, they have to detour around other nations to get some from Russia...
and more importantly it is definitely gonna make supply chains non-existent
it has really cool scientific applications but that stuff just doesn't drive people to invest
they want stuff that's consumer grade
quantum computer in your living room
Quantum Computing has cool scientific applications and huge potential...
But it's basically the potential man of computer type stuff in general, along with things like fusion power.
African countries are barely peaceful in many places, especially in the 80-90s.
why the f would I need a quantum computer lol
I'm not in a situation where I need Grover's algorithim on a day to day basis.
And also requires a lot of knowledge to even know the bare minimum basics
And more importantly, useless to the average consumer
my own photonics cope is that optical computing will get attention
now that tech is really fucking cool
but very much at its infancy
replacing electrical semiconductors with mirror arrays
tbf if quantum computing ever becomes more than just us struggling to even keep a qubit stable
it would entirely destroy like
every encryption system ever
the big computer companies are trying to make optical computing work
not much progress
Apparently optical computing cannot do any non-linear operations currently
i have no idea about how the computing side works lol
me neither
but on the hardware side optics make sense
optics have so much bandwith
some niche CPU's are being produced with optical ports rn
idk how well they work
but this is the type of tech that would explode the entire computing sector if it actually worked well
that's a 'slight' overstatement tbh
it just reduces the avg number of attempts at guessing a value (i.e. encryption key) from N/2 to a quadratic O(sqrtN)
so it might not take the entire age of the universe to crack an encryption, but it might take you a good few hundred years depending on how complex the key is
I'm pretty jaded about this tbh.
There's a lot of places that just won't upgrade their infrastructure.
I'm connecting to the internet with hardware that was installed in the 1990s because my hab block doesn't have the money or will to upgrade.
ofc yeah it wont help much if you dont have fiber optics infrastructure
but fiber optics are pretty established now
which is good, because fiber optics are good
the best part is you dont have to worry about crackheads stealing your fiber optics for scrap
lol, I don't have that problem because it'd probably cost more to steal the stuff I'm using than it would to sell it
is there even a market for fiber optic scrap? I though it was pretty much worthless when torn out
it's just silica. i dont think it can be melted down at all
actually i never even thought about where fiber optic waste goes
isn't it like super harmful because it release silica dust that's really bad to breath in?
to manufacture? maybe. handling it though is safe
i've cut and spliced many cables
the biggest danger is not getting shards in your fingers
and that was just to learn how to do it in college. nobody actually opens up fiber optics anymore
ah, fair
it's all wireless nowadays anyways. I have some old cables just in case but it's been years since I've needed them to do anything
fiber optics are more large scale anyways yeah. you can easily get up to 100gb/s speeds with them but afaik consumer grade stuff barely can handle the tiny 10gb/s speeds at the low end
would be fun to have an optical port on my PC though
I would be happy with 1 gb/s I'm hard locked at 70mb/s
ye that's the sad part about it. you can only go as fast as your weakest link in the chain
and we can't buy city level infrastructure
yeah, although it's not even city level that's the issue for me. it's like... HoA level although that's the only equivalent term I can come up with translating into english
parts of America and any place that has large bits of rural is going to be hard stuck as well
i was stuck with trashy internet for a while until my carrier decided to install fiber so i get it lol. have you tried starlink? it's expensive but i heard it can be good for gaming if you have no other alternative
yeah, $30/month is a bit out of my comfort zone.
I could pay it, but with the amount of gaming I can actually do per month makes it feel not worth it tbh
Thanks for the suggestion though. I didn't think to see if Starlink was even available where I live.
You 🫵
I did nothing wrong, #FreeMe
You can’t ban me, who else can answer space marine pfp or imperium fan questions without spamming the N word or crashing out.
No one exactly I’m the only friendly non racist imperium fan here.
Everytime I skilldif a Mel player, it's for Maddie
The first victim of her bullshit W
Me when someone tries to make imperium less cool by saying they are the good guys
LMAO
Went from slanging space coke to slanging whatever the fuck you want because you have a note written 10k years ago from Big E saying “pimp can do what they want”
"I know you, you're that drug dealer"
"I'm the CEO of Amazon now"
"You.... you're what?"
Also casual reminder that President Lincoln is the first recorded person to perform a chokeslam
this is worth 1000$
a crusty jpeg of a lightning bolt
idk why but this makes me so fucking mad
we need to like
sit down as a species
and rethink how we're doing this life thing
Watching havoc gameplay rn. How tf do people actually play on this difficulty
Unfortunately there's never gonna be a shortage of gambling addicts
On a mixture of Aderall, Gamer Supps, Monster Energy, and pure unadulterated speed
I don't even know what adderal actually is tbh they don't sell it here. how it's otc in the states is beyond me
Yea like you can't buy Adderall in the UK and it's not even approved for medical usage by Doctors
Reviews for the new Necromunda book are out, some fun little tidbits there
Coordination. Staying tf w ur team. Not running forwards immediately. A few mods.
A lot of practice.
Oh yeah and a lot of backtracking
A lotttt of backtracking
And clutching
Minmaxing
Its an extremely unfun mode if you are just a normal person playing games for fun.
Great example of pointless and needless adrenaline junkie-ism.
I'm honestly glad Havoc is thing because it's place for the actually addicted hives scum drug huffing people that play the game
Keeps them contained in a environment
I really don't want to play Havoc, however I also really want the armour you get from playing Havoc
hey i'm still fine in auric
i really want the armour but i ain't playing that shit
I just spammed sub 10 difficulty missions when I got fed up with it, I'm not sure that's doable anymore though

Should I aim to be like him
It's only unfun because party finder sucks fatdick
There should be an option to have it quickplay-like

So true, sometimes I like seeing just how crazy things can get
I like playing havoc! Its like auric but more fun modifiers!!!!!!!
I like how the lyrics in this start out hopeful and get more hopeless as it goes on
This too, I like modifiers
In general
I'm taking away your melanin
“The air has left my lungs and I’m choking on whatever’s left” goes hard
@daring creek what do you think the signal is
Its unfun because of the elitist players
Losers once losers forever

dilara
you saw the memes
i know you did
you must watch the show now
because he is in it
Guh
I HAVEN'T SEEN IT YET
Shhhh
WATCH IT
i must reveal to you some out of show information
that i gleamed from reddit
(horrible place)
What's the signal thingy ? Haven't been really that present due to a funeral
Pluribus: || the hive is definitely gonna try to get stem cells from her eggs that she froze ||
|| “we wont take cells from your body” theyre def scheming ||
no they arent
they specifically said they need her bone marrow
and they cant lie
|| I believe they said they need stem cells, which they would need to get out of her bone marrow ||
|| but i def think they can find a way to get the same result from her eggs, or theyll try at least ||
|| bc yeah they didnt lie, they just said they arent going to get it from her body, theyre simply not telling that theyre gonna use an alternative ||
What i think at least
Peak show so far though
It is a good dilemma
i see way too many people on reddit focusing on diabaté being evil
just because of the questionable consent
very reddit behavior
I think the last episode shed a new light on him
He def seems capable of a good amount of empathy
i think there`s also the fact that a lot of people have the wrong impression that this is a comic book situation where people are being controlled by an alien being
i think "they" are truly the collective consciousness of every human on earth
well almost
Its probably just impossible for us to imagine what it really would be like for them
and in a sense they have forgotten what intimacy and the self is
so like, consent is just different for them
since they're constantly all sharing eachothers bodies
And how they have difficulty with knowing what carol means and wants sometimes bc they cant imagine anymore of not knowing everything about someone
Wonder what sort of conflicts the show will have if its going for 2 more seasons
this show manages to make me feel good for some reason
even though it isnt wholesome
it's like everything is ok
i guess that's what makes the show good
well now i do feel some level of dread because of the food situation
also did you notice that 7 billion people are stated to be alive
Yeah
Yeah death count from the start was like 800 million right
From the first joining or whatever
Thats crazy
800 million people in like planes or cars or something
And hitting their head on the floor
Yeah prob because it did give everyone an actual seizure
||8.613.0 is a frequency used by ships on the sea and some atmospheric monitoring devices in the US||
||the idea of survivors that can be infected is really cool to me. imagine how the collective will react to that... they might do some pretty drastic shit to get them infected||
anyways we all love our Paraguayan hero
calls his mom a bitch, drives away
Saw a lot of discussion if the drive is possible
im sure he'll get some help along the way whether he wants it or not
carol's going to end up killing her at some point i swear
thats just her type of freak
She almost did already no
Why would anyone kill that smile
i know you haven't watched the show
you cannot escape
What show?
pluribus
I like her happy little smile
then you will like the show
because she's always smiling
lore chat must become pluribus channel
That's a question no one wants to know the answer to.
you cant convince me that thing isnt a sex toy
Hey what you do with your Plumbus is your own business
Whathammer

No grotmas yet today
No Rumour Engine suff like last year
Hey wtf is the drukhari detachments, I’ve literally heard no word or opinions about them
Think Reapers Wager is still the best performing one, but Kabalite Cartel is fun/good
No idea about Realspace Raid because I don't think anyone runs it anymore, Skysplinter Assault is still solid and not sure about Spectacle of Spite and Covenite Coterie because I run mostly Kabal
thinkin about doin a little bit of fanfic writing, anyone know if the mechanicus has an internal affairs org for hunting hereteks?
There are the Arcuitor Magisterium who are part of the Prefecture Magisterium
Yes
Collegiate Extremis
Collegiate Extremis and Prefecture Magisterium
The Prefecture Magisterium are like the secret police
these names are terrible
yea, cool as hell
no snap
Extremis only shows up in Flesh and Steel afaik but you know, have at it
collegiate extremis sounds cool but it sounds more like a name hereteks would use
Astynomia is the planetary investigation force for worlds that have big mechanicus presence
They kinda work with extremis
but are somewhat at odds
Collegiate Extremis more make sure that Forge Worlds are in compliance rather than hunt down individuals
But the two groups overlap and police each other
The bodyguard has a line specifically about not having an implant that i just saw.
what about this
alright it sounds like it's the typical pre-having their own rulebook mechanicus morass of information, so i'm gonna feel free to wing it
oh maybe
You're aiming to write a fanfic, "winging it" is all you'll be doing
It's more a reference to groups like the Nazis having multiple groups of secret police with overlapping roles that also police eachother and have an unhealthy rivalry
yeah except it's the galaxy spanning tech nazis
the little steam engine between my ears which burns autism and ritalin demands i never contradict canon
The Empire in Star Wars also has it
Canon frequently contradicts itself, so good luck with that
With like the ISB and Imperial Intelligence filling similar roles while policing and undermining eachother
In the Lathe area (Calixis Sector), the Admech have a special order called the "Lords Dragon"
maybe i can be better than the canon
lords dragon is a sick name but my brain tries to tie it to the whatsit
order of the dragon, of the fantasy setting known as 15th century romania
yes
only Brawler has an implant
none of the other 3 do
i like to think ogryn aren't that stupid, just poorly educated and not a good fit off their native high gravity worlds
the claustrophobia makes a lot of sense when there's evolutionary pressure to under no circumstances be under anything, lest it fall and kill you instantly
hell it doesn't even have to be evolution, just culture explains it fine
It is what is implied yes.
Ogryn are seldom taught stuff, the surrounding human are quite fine with them just being able to follow orders and nothing more
the heavy is very intelligent i think
As for claustrophobia, it is somewhat easier to be such when you're towering over everyone else and the infrastructure is made for people half your size
i mean heavy is basically what an ogryn is they are actually taught and learned
that guy looks for business opportunities in the middle of the fight
He is very smart
so is most ogryn just not taught then?
no schola for ogryn
yes they are kept at their minimum intelligence of being a giant brutal wall of muscle
as you can see with heavy he is like the least liked ogryn
an ogryn that can think for himself cannot be easily control
