For marketing reasons the entire race of the squats have been dubbed as the Leagues of Votann (after the big AI coreframes that build/help their civilization) with the League part being the commercial megacorp-esque conclaves and nations in space they run which is actually a thing from old lore. The Votann refere to themselves generally as The Kin. The term "squat" is still a thing but its treated more as an insult/slur by humans to them.
• 2. So basically the old squat lore is still somewhat canon just largely edited to make sense with the current 40k setting, so its why they got an aesthetic overhaul among other things as well as some bigger lore changes. They still have the thing of being original human colonists who settled in the galactic core that just kinda became dwarves but now they are so seperate from humanity + have become a clone race from the Ancestor Cores that create them, they still got a ton of individuality among other things but thats a topic you should read on your own.
• 3. The lore of the Nids also eating a great majority of their homeworlds in the core is also still there, it was just chalked up to poor imperial record keeping regarding what actually happened to them, they are still a proper galactic power to some extent but stick to their own devices, they are more numerous than Tau/Eldar but are below humanity in numbers
• 4. They are technically considered "xenos" due to being extremely seperated from humanity + a great majority of the Imperium also doesnt know their true origin but will hire them as mercs and other commerce related stuff, but obviously it changes from League to League on the matters of operation.
• 5. The Necromunda Votann are called "squats" by most people but they've adopted the name to some extent as well. They lost their Votann Core (the big AI ancestor box that micro-manages an entire League) during their first settlement into Munda so have devolved to reproducing the old fashioned way and founding an entire monopoly on their own behalf as dawi due, becoming a proper civilization on the planet that a lot of the Imperial hives/people rely on for prospecting and other big money grindsets

Their lore is legit great but can seem very confusing until you actually read it, trust me I went through it when I wanted to homebrew my own League, its much more sensible when you do it lol

One tactic is full on orbital bombardment closely followed by drop pod and thunder hawk assault. Another major one when the terrain is allowing of it is full armoured assault.

So yeah, whilst melee and honour duels are a big part of BT. They do employ many other tactics including drop pod and thunderhawk shock assaults and full armour mobilisations.

I love the unique way the Chapter is organised and their special units such as Crusader squads, Sword Brethren, and the Emperor’s Champion. Villains (which, let’s face it, they definitely are) who think they’re heroes are always interesting to me, and the Templars’ self-righteous brutality was quite appealing in this sense – they are ruthless, single-minded, mean… and among the most epic protagonists of the Warhammer 40,000 setting!
