The name itself still sounds sick to me. Witches hovering over the dead of night and attacking by surprise
that was probably earlier in the war
Oh that's dumb
alr I gotta grab something to smoke for this walk
it's politics
The troops the enemies were actually scared of
modern wars are half battle half politics
What war was Simo Hayha in?
Yeah the White Death
me
Canadians make my skin itch
Winter war
that's my herpes
Or the Continuation War.
winter war, ww2, continuation war
The US had our own famed sniper with white in their name. The White Feather
he wore a white feather in his hat as a way to make himself an easier target
Winter war and continuation war are the same.
btw always assume sniper kill scores are fake
yesnt
snipers were hugely propped up by propaganda
How would they know tbh
For the Finn at least
And tank kill scores as well
Anyone saying over 9 confirmed kills os probably lieing
It's nit confirmed if you shoot them 1km away
Snipers rarely "confirm" their kills anyway
Next you’re gonna tell me Richthofen and his Flying Circus didn’t actually get all those confirmed downs smh

I beileve the plane kills
not to mention there is literally no incentive to not inflate the numbers
you can have a rough estimate of how many you kill, but most people aren't like that
Cause there's like 3 planes
I mean yes they're the same conflict but the winter officially ended before the continuation war
WW1/2 snipers, with their x4 scope at best, rarely engage further than 600m.
even that's super hard to tell between an injured bird and a dead one
Some of the most untrustworthy, unless youre talking about British and Americans
So I looked up Flying Circus and got a Canadian pop band
The Brits and Amis required guncam and multiple witness to log kills
The C79 sight is x3.4, and you don't see shit at 400m.
Brrrrrrrrrt
super emphasis
And I feel like dog fighting is alot more risky so low numbers would be pretty on point and yeah I'm talking about the old spitfire confirmed kills
CAS pilots have always fudged their numbers and it has led to the pain that is the A10 in modern days
Richthofen was still insane wearing bright red for his plane’s paint
i actually believe that one. tanks are a lot easier to confirm than infantry
Then again the Brown Baron doesn’t sound as cool
Sniper killing a dozen people a day is reasonable in the old conflict.
I would hate to be a tank crew man
Hell, modern day Marksman can do the same.
would you believe a hunter's word to not be exagerated
snipers are the same
Omg I think the kill counts from sarejevo wernt actually exadurated
That's was so sad
oh i totally shot a huge buck last week
I’m also amazed how tanks in WW1 were these slow hefty juggernauts of metal that rolled over anything, and in WW2 they became able to blitz through multiple nations like it’s nothing
Does anyone know the numbers from that conflict ?
No, but isn’t it up there with Verdun?
they had almost no armour in WW1. their engines were incredibly weak
I'm not questioning if the number is accurate, I'm saying that it is possible.
It's a world record on kids who had someone occupy their homes , saw someone they knew killed or were killed themselves
They were bulky and slow at least
I'll find it one sec it's actually heart breaking though
Another battle that always horrified me in numbers was during the second Punic War, the battle Canae
germans designed the first anti tank rifle to defeat them and it's literally just a big rifle. the armour of a WW1 tank was made for shrapnel and small arms
They especially do the same
Especially during WW2 and before that, when rifles are so overkill and there were little people can do to detect hidden enemy nor fire power short of a medium machine gun to suppress.
No they aren't
Its not that bad
you think? if you're trying to kill a tank you probably will stay fixated on that target until it dies
Never forget the flying tank
Tanks operate in fours or fives
Someone saw a tank and went “fuck it, strap wings to it”
All of them shooting the same targets
oh that's what you meant
Also
as in hard to confirm who killed it
The Germans often "killed" tanks that just got hosed out and sent back into the fight hours later
They would claim the destruction of entire units that in reality lost maybe 7 tanks
Unicef reported of the estimated 65 thousand to 80 thousand children in tge city that 40% had been shot at by snipers 51% had seen someone killed and something like 30% had had their house occupied
i asked my uncle who commanded m113's mounted with ATGM's how you can tell if a tank is dead and his reply was "it stops shooting back"
Mission of sniper is so different than just shooting now that the word sniper doesn't carey the same meaning as it was back in the day.
back during the yugoslavia thing
Sharpshooter/marksman is what the old sniper is.
That was where sarajevo was iirc
Nato literally watxh genocide
Canadian is developing a sharpshooter position in a section to focus on taking out enemy troops.
The US has this program since the 2000s.
their goal now is to kill civilians who look off
Cause it takes more men to take him back look after him ect
there are many reports of sharpshooters intentionally shooting civilians because they have complete impunity with who they kill
very cool
5.56 DMR is coming back all over the place because they want to hit more rather than getting extended range by using 7.62 DMR.
snipers are and always have been weapons of psychological warfare
Well he could have been taking important info to the enemy
It was a 12 year old child...
their kills arent nearly as important as the fear they give to people
One sniper could control a massive area on their own simply because of the threat that they could kill you no?
Modern snipers are observers 90% of the time.
And isn’t that because shooting will give away your position?
that's what their spotters are for
they have a gun for a reason
One of many reasons
more that you dont know where they are
and they could shoot you from anywhere
so you're always terrified of being shot from any angle
If they stay still too long there dead
The more developed techniques to conceal, the more valuable to stay as such to exploit intels.
except when they're shooting civilians
Intels are more important than shooting.
like what happened in sarajevo
The second you work out where the fires coming from u can just drop ordinance on em
"Sniper Alley" (Bosnian: Snajperska aleja / Снајперска алеја) was the informal name primarily for streets such as Ulica Zmaja od Bosne (Dragon of Bosnia Street) and Meša Selimović Boulevard, the main boulevard in Sarajevo which during the Bosnian War was lined with Serbian snipers' posts, and became infamous as a dangerous place...
The US uses thar approach instead of counter sniping
fun fact serbian snipers were evil people who deserve to burn in hell
Well, that's JTAC, a different job.
Yep
The term sniper is overused in the media, but in military terms, it is very specific.
Do they still do teams ?
ofc
2 spotters and a shooter
a spotter is crucial
Depending on doctrine

Canadian uses 3 guys, most US uses 2 guys.

today spotters have laser rangefinders and everything
Iv seen the rangers sniper teams
it's super important
i think police snipers are pretty interesting
since they actually have to be careful who they shoot
The armed defenders are genuinely pretty interesting
They train out in tbe bush wearing balaclavas
i dont know how accurate the scene in captain phillips is but navy seals were insane
im talking about when they shoot all the pirates at once
with snipers
on a moving ship
Ohhh so the navy actually were on the boats going thru Somali waters
And there probably was a couple times where stuff happened
i mean the captain phillips situation
You know the reason they are pirates ? We kinda forced them to become pirates
it's a true story
All tier 1 units are crazy.
and cargo ships knew it was dangerous waters so they could have avoided it
It's mainly the swedes doing the transport through those waters
Or Norwegian iirc
Brilliant fighters tho
hey it looks cool in a movie
I mean the navy guys helping w security
oh ships just hire private contractors
infinite balls generator
Pauldrons provide plot armour
(You can blame the existence of the Suez Canal for creating a shortcut - otherwise most ships would need to go through Horn of Africa)
French trawlers illegally fished in their waters and literally stole all their fish (and dumped toxic waste there), when the local economy was entirely dependent on it's fishing industry.

Melee variant Gravis???
Basically Aggressors
They've got big hands though
It'd be neat, that I don't disagree but I fear it's unlikely
Can we also get like an upgrade sprue in the regular Heavy Intercessor kit so the Sgt can get cool stuff like regular Intercessors can
funnily enough I never took notice how the 'melee' versions differ from the ranged only models
but now that you posted that it's kinda obvious
The segmented belly plate, cowl over the head and flared shoulder guards
Like the amount of work I had to do just to make three unique Sgts that look like sgts. Rather than just regular Heavies with a skull on their helmets
Just give the poor Sgt's a little upgrade sprue with some special weapon options
it'd be nice, the chapter specific upgrade sprues work well for that sorta stuff but tough luck if you're not doing one of those chapters
Imperial Fist upgrade sprue is to thanks for these guys, gave the scanner on the middle guys back and the Heavy pistol for the one on the right
Guy on the left used a spare Sgt shoulder pad from an Aggressors kit
and the guy on the right got his tilting plate from Tor Garadon kit I think and his sword was converted from a spare power sword from a Tempestus Scion kit.
Nice
But yea like without that the only way of telling there's a Sgt in the base Heavy Intercessor kit is they have a skull on their helmet
No different weapons or kit or anything
for my ultras the red helmet is a dead give away always but if your chapter doesn't have a distinction like that it makes it more difficult
fun fact: their is horses in quar
is a cadeir
it has the face be like
0
]]
3
]]
0
beside that
That looks like it would be slow and lumbering, maybe able to do short charges like a boar
its basically a horse
no
Yeah im saying its shaped wrong
Honestly they look AT-AT inspired lol, or the other way idk the timing
I bet they predate
They really look like "what if we made a half-length camel with no neck"
you got a larger version act like a ox
Now that is a good morphology-behavior match
is funny that fidwog has that
The short body and thick legs on the horseish ones scream "i am a slow moving and heavy browsing animal"
They definitely cant eat grass with no neck lol
they can kneel
also fun fact. the fidwog has the gwylon
basically a massive kangaroo
See now that looks like it could go fast
the speculative biology from this setting is increasingly upsetting to me lol
we have mountain kangaroos in real life and they're tiny compared to the bush kangaroos
and bugs is literally massive
too much oxygen
quars btw is a ant eaters
i got that part
the thing on the kangaroo thing's head is messing with me
i feel like a real animal has that but i can only think of donphan from pokemon
i guess armadillos kinda have a head plate like that
the screaming hairy armadillo
like these
this is close to it
beetles are not good at being giant bugs but i can forgive not knowing that
one of the most important animal in quar service is a pykpyk
its a flying squirrel
its basically used as messenger pigeons
The Quar world is populated by animals strange and familiar.
Unmatched in speed, mounted cavalry units are the favored troops of many Quar commanders. A Cadier is an unassuming beast with grace and agility. They are stoic about mud, unflinching about wind, and can keep a pace quite beyond the internal combustion engine and its bellowing clatter...
btw they got dogs called Fydos
holy shit heavy intercessor with melee weapon
haya
How about some old school dreadnoughts?
NO
thank god dreadnoughts are changed for the better
classic
Old wh was something alright
look at space dwarfs 💀
still using the term heavy laser instead of lascannon
the real horror is 3.50 pounds for one dread
no
you doing gud
Even then, most container ships have the range to ignore those poor countries.
how you think of quar wildlife
these
Ye it's from Very first Warhammer video game
i can see that
U should see dreadnought from that
thats the robots from robocop
Ikr
the 2 legged ones
i wonder
since quar dont do magic at all or dont believe in so
they might have the same abillity of daemons cant see them at all like the tau
so basically they are somewhat resistent to chaos corruptions
what is this
imagine being slaanesh gets mad because she cant corrupt these mf
because they dont care
Apparently Dreadnaught
Is Darktide and Rouge Trader on the same ship ???
From Space Crusade
No
They not even in same sector
yoo
no
But the old lady it's her right ?
she is a rogue trader yes
ngl i like the good ending that one of us come up for quar is they get classified as abhumans by the inquisitions
Different old ladies
Pay attention
I ask it cuz of that old Lady and the space wolf Ulfar who died in Space Marine 2. The timeline kinda vauge for me
Emora Brahms =/= Theodora von Valancius
Pay attention
also that isnt Ulfar from rogue trader
its just a generic norse name
Ahhhh thanks
Very fair mistake dont worry
people werent sure before they opened the lexi
and the lore has 5 Ulfars

hay witch
the thing to remember with 40k that the games dont show is how humongous the setting is
But still it would be more grimdank if that was Ulfar
agreed but alas we dont know
yoo
So....
idk why owlcat would let SM2 kill off their ulfar
I don't invest much in the variety of fluff.
It isn't owlcat ulfar cuz his eventual fate always shown in rt endings
Also because I have so many hobbies.
The Primarch are just "alternative" placeholder for Big E due to his "Friends" bail out . Since they hated to work for /with him Friends here mean Perpetuals ???
i am lost and confused
Cooking, Sewing Drawing, DIY/handyman stuff, physical training, etc.
So I read fluff of the few things I play.
And does Master of Mandkind still lore Official or the story in it just "pause" for them to recook???
40k isn't paused. the horus heresy series was added as a supplement prequel to add background to the setting
secret GW marketer
you're making me shake my fist dilara
my... imperial fist
Does Lexicanum a good source for lore ? And no i can't buy books in my country i have to "Rouge Trader" the crumps of lore drop from Reddit and youtube videos
It'll do
Lex is one of the few good places to get lore from online
😭
oki
that was terrible
At least it's better than fandom, shorts, and Reddit posts

The only time I use Reddit posts is to find book quotes for novels I don't have
Yes i read this one he even make trees that give fruits only that specific primarch can taste good and he said he be fine and good after things done. With all of them
Reddit is horrible place to get any decent lore
Lexicanum also doesnt add any lore to their page usually unless it has a source that can be linked
Ok
fandom wiki thinks a quote is just copy pasting rulebook text
also avoid the fandom wiki
So ye go to lexicanum and enjoy. Wh lore is old confusing and big af
absolutely no regard for making the information digestible
And repeat itself a lot
it gives the impression that there's a lot to read on a page but it's all the same information repeated
@storm jungle yoo
Ye just in different wording
do you it's funny when a daemons tried to corrupt but failed because the victim straight up don't care
Uh idk probably
depends on the character
like i theorized that quars will be immune to chaos since they never do magic or believe in it to begin with
nothing is immune to chaos
well
higher resistance to it
like shooting a .22lr at a ford engine block
it does nothing but it will take centuries untill you finally go though
after like 500 trillion 22lr
That would be very old dreadnoughts
mostly just resisting to chaos like grey knights
Like Rylanor
because he believes that worshiping chaos is for nerds
Not gray knights again
i have a theory that quars are atlease resistant to chaos
like the taus
the daemons can still fuck them up
but like the taus, they are resistant to it or just they are unnoticeable
It less resistant and more having very weak presence in warp
Is that because their setting doesn't have magic or does it but they ignore it
yeah because they got other things to worry about
that's not how chaos works
That does not answer the question
new LoV art
they don't have magic tho tbh
even if it did exist
they either forgot it or they got problems they need to focus about
like the long war or the month of storms
we dunno, its likely inside a Kinhold
aside from that I got nothing, there's some Tau influence on the yellow building so it might be a trading post
im currently feeling fucked up because i regret sitting on the swivel chair
The writing on the building doesn't look tau
If magic doesn't exist in their system/setting, then it's really impossible to say whether that it wouldnt be something that they're resistant or not too in a setting where said magic exist
Look like a giant Ironkin
hay wolf
its all League
That definitely ain't Tau

Taugak
Lmao
that
that's going in the holotape of grudges
doesn't work smh
the blockchain of grudges more like
LMAO

dataslate of Grudges
non fungible grudges
Buy buy buy
Sell all grudge on Tyranids
invest in grudgecoin
votaan brain rot
i always forget that iron kin are robots and not just armor wearing dwarves
yeah straight up walking men of iron
usable on tabletop
and now we have steeljacks
Kognitaar being an ironkin addicted to their dataslate logistics
its some really funny ass lore
so yeah fruity in general
how you think of my fav wargame
ye but he's a special boy
you can field a ton of ironkin
Ironkin are so fun cause they're machine, why not just have them just access the WiFi and do it without needing the little doodad, but they're Kin, so they get the same tools as other Kins.
yoo @arctic talon good question on warhammer model
forgeworld lookin ass
whats your fav tanks'
interesting rules
define tank
one thing i wish is easky is aviliable in 28mm
treads required y/n?
its currently 15mm
yes and a gun
i love these guys
like leman rus
or any xeno tanks like tau or eldari meth lazer tank
hopefully they dont become some obscure tabletop unit with no lore relevance
They got such wack heads
eag heads
so yeah i hope easky is coming in next update
its looked so cool
do you think steeljacks are seen as regular dudes
is like the UN but better and not sad
they have the drip and they dont suck ass. they absolulty haul ass
and they mastared the art of conbine arms
basically like the quar equivliat of the steel legion
Fire Prism, Krios battletank, Shadowsword are my top 3
but they dont have chimeras or sand in the eyes
peak
the fire prism crystal looks like the magical meth crystal that can vaporized a leman russ
but its incredibly powerful
the fire prism is weird as fuck
baneblade on top
its like a lascannon on meth
and also it doesn't need line of sight directly to fire
if one prism cannon has a shot
every prism cannon within a specific range can shoot a target
and then it dies to a lascannon
they curved a laser
because eldar no armor
how
It has the same AV as a Russ
lol
so not really
and an invuln
Guard fans coping
DAMN it

its made from cardboard
wraithbone is also like
double negative
which aren't even the least armored plane
bad grammar
i win
me when I watch the eldar mesh armor tank a bolter(how the fuck does that even work)

good think bolters can shoot many rounds
yoo elite
shurikens need just 1
tbf
I'm quite fond of the hornet, I would fly one and crash right into a building
when the space marine gets hold of the elf twink and rips him in half
Governor Bush... another Hornet has hit the second hive...

how strong is the window
secundeez nu-
I don't have enough info to decide
tbh
I read slowly lol
says the living encyclopedia
or any that interest you
I think we should resurrect Bligh, I want more Imperial Armour
legit gone too soon man
vraks part 2
I love how the moment he died, Forgeworld just disintegrated quality wise lmfao
says a lot
he single handedly made krieg marketable
LOL
GW owes him so much
i cant name any other regiment except cadia that had an entire campaign dedicated to them
tbh it was more varied than just Krieg
the entire Vraks range was like massively diverse
people just solely focused on them because uhhh brain damage
oh yeah the cultist models looked really cool
yeah it was like cultists, 3940513 artillery pieces, loyalist and traitor marines, vehicles
a fucking clusterfuck
people dont often talk about the end portion of vraks since it loses focus on krieg
it's like mostly space marines
Yeah it becomes an Inquisition show which isnt a bad thing
Krieg, Cadia, Tallaran, Elysians
Oh also steel legion
in 3e
did tallarn get a campaign?
never heard of it
Taros
its a really good one
and uhhh realistically shows how the Tau can steamroll the Imperium when they got no plot armor lol
me when water supplies

interesting
Downside is imo the narrative missions in it SUCK
i do love how like
but they're supposed to suck
so w/e
Its supposed to be the torment nexus
for one side
Tau realise with the limited forces they got on Taros they cant beat the Imperium in an open fight
depending on what stage of the campaign you're in
so they just- constantly guerilla fight and harass them with stealth camo tech
and it legit works
lol
i thought tallarn were the guerrila fighters
They arent
no
they like TANKS
A TON
huh
They like tanks a comically huge amount
i thought they were inspired by WW2 SAS
They're like the armored regiment
Isn't that steel legion
no
steel legion is combined arms/mechanized warfare
Tallarn are tanks tanks tanks tanks tanks
oh right you told me this many times
did tallarn get any special tank models
WHAT
just speedrunning a leman russ across the map
huh
but the Tallarn regiment rule + their unique order + MOVE MOVE MOVE
man that rangefinder thing must be hell to get straight after shipping
would let you do some deranged stuff
i like hearing about when the guard had some unique stuff
ah yes the drivers of the guard
i feel like fielding an army of valhallan conscripts would have been pure hell to fight
half of your dead units coming back
endless stream of URAAAA
Conscripts are misery
for everyone involved
lol
Guard had a rule at the start of the edition that let them revive any infantry squad
SHUT UP SHUT THE FUCK UP THE JOKE ISNT FUNNY
didn't valhallans get that
of fucking course it's a black templar
what does this even mean
Its just some random dude going "Heh, glad she was never born in OTHER universes... otherwise she'd have a bad time." and thats it
Its as dumb as that
Lemme look at tiddies for Christ's sake
yeah they had SEND IN THE NEXT WAVE!, which got made cheaper and buffed into REINFORCMENTS!
as Send in the next wave only worked on basic infantry and didn't bring back special or heavy weapons
send dudes
REINFORCMENTS! brings back the guard squad with everything
As reinforcements, right?
also it works on Scout Sentinels much to the horror of literally everyone
IM IN A FIGHT I NEED MORE MEN
that's so funny
oh my fucking god
they buffed it with the guard codex
it can bring back Stormtroopers now lol
wait it's still in the rules?
i thought they removed all the unique regiment stuff
well
its not Vostroyan specific now
the issue rn is its too specific lol
send in the next wave was also in 9e
when they got rid of regimental rules and made build a regiment the standard
man
but rn its too specific
like
these are your options for basic infantry
which is too specific lol
do they have unique rules
regiment rules or different stats
DKOK
Regiment rules, stats mostly the same IIRC
GW basically went “rules wise you only have 3 variation, miniature wise…go with what you feel is right.”
Not terribly ideal.
Same, it makes sense to me.
Like Shocktroopers, Siege specialists, Jungle Fighters
rather then Cadian Shocktroops, Death Korps of Krieg, Catachan Jungle fighters
Too much identity tied to the rule itself for people to feel like they are customising.
krieg have access to bolters
Yes wargear will differ
cadians have autogun
The Catachan got fucked
bcs they have the prehistoric 5e kit
lol
iirc they only get flamers
Taken out of named context, you can assume “different regiments have slightly different logistics”
so the krieg infantry can be a fake veteran squad
G “we only want to reflect what is in the box set” W
Kind of, in a sense.
blame chapterhouse for that one
lol
or I guess the Uk government
hey they get power sword and bolter
for that ruling lol
no
and medi pack which seems useless on 40k
UK laws to be more precise.
vets had way more options
What today's topic.
Not much
its good for making them obnoxious to remove
How UK Law fucked over Guard codex.
A tame usual topic.
DKOK are the best sit here on an objective unit lol
UK law kind of fucked over every codex
How so?
with a high level of customization
GW was making stuff without minis/stuff that wasn't in the box
UK law has made it so that that is uh
not allowed
to simplify it
heavily
arent troopers super weak
Which was because of another company violating GWs IP by selling GW product under their name
ect. ect.
GW sues them
Court rules in no ones favor and kills the company violating GWs IP
and also blows GWs kneecaps out

Ah.
And yea as much as GW are greedy, remember the other half of the blame falls well on UK archaic and outdated laws.
Tbh
I wouldn't even say they were greedy
during chapterhouse
They were literally within their legal right to sue imo
Fair
Like beyond UK copyright laws being a total pain in the ass
which means GW has to be super litigious
Chapterhouse was straight up calling their stuff
Was more referencing fandom perception TBH
WARHAMMER 40k TYRANID DOOM OF MALANTAI
…yea ok
It wasn't like
That really had it coming.
as in they were marketing stuff that wasnt sold?
GW made rules for stuff that wasn't sold
0 marketing for it
This was legal
until the chapter house incident
now its not
So they fucked themselves over while killing a rival company.
They originally did so to encourage modelling conversions no less.
GW has a partial bypass now but its so much effort its not worth the scrutiny for any of their non SGS division stuff
No
They were claiming chapterhouse was infringing on their copyright
by using the words Warhammer 40k, and faction names
like Tyranids
but those have models
and stuff written in GW rulebooks and such
Well
they didn't all have models back then
the Doom of Malantai, The Mycetic Spore
there's a few others
Doomrider
lol
yeah so GW was suing based on theft of models despite some units having no models associated with them
GW didn't even want to kill chapterhouse
they just wanted chapterhouse to stop using the naming
of their stuff lol
thats seems like GW's mistake there
no
they sued because chapter house was using GW intellectual property lol
if chapterhouse was using words that had no actual models associated with them then GW cant sue for it
For how they named their products
They did do the first thing
though lol
It’s literally GW operating in a legal (if not so well provisioned) position, some other sellers try to hijack the opportunity without discretion, then GW suing due to how archaic UK laws work, then UK Law going “fuck you all, you both cannot have nice things because you are both being stupid, and yes it is a copyright violation anyways.”
they just also did the second one
yeah thats what i mean, GW should have just sued for stolen model names
THEY DID
And the court fucked them both

that was the only thing they were suing over
but they also went after models which were using words from rules right?
No
they were going after models that were using words from GW's actual copyright lol
on 40k stuff
and some of those copyrights didn't have models is what you were saying
No
They were fine with them doing stuff like the Doom of Malantai
if it did not have the words WARHAMMER 40k TYRANID
in front of it
if that makes sense
thats just odd
i think it does make sense that GW shouldn't be suing people for the millions of words they claim to hold the rights to if there's no actual model associated with them
I think illegal
I agree the part on stuff they didn't produce was dumb
but that does not mean the courts needed to blow GW's legs off lol
Actually this explains why huge chunks of HH had to go to Legacy in 3rd edition
And say you can't make rules for stuff that doesn't have a miniature or any representation inside the box
like

are ya fucking kidding me lol
it's wild that the court told them to do that
this wasn't even a blanket industry thing
lol
btw
it was a court order for Gamesworkshop specifically
Which is probably why FW got away with doing that in heresy so long
but Heresy growing bigger attracts more scrutiny
ect.
it just completely misunderstands the idea of kitbashing
imo GW deserved
to eat shit for suing chapter house
over stuff like the Mycetic spore and Doom
Imo chapter house deserved to eat shit for everything else they were doing
lol
like, cmon
I mean everyone was being shit, accounting for UK laws lol
yeah
oh also wtf is this Blood Angels art lol, this was in the 8e codex
not that its bad, but the color on the marines + helmets feels
weird
Reminds me of that guy who makes pinhead space marines
it's official?
it's good but it kinda looks amateur by 40k artist levels
It was done by a freelancer apparently
everything is so flat
anyways the title for this product was
"Warhammer Space Marine Legions Heavy Horus Heresy terminator"
questionable choice from chapter house naming wise
how did they think GW wouldn't sue them
using warhammer in your title is WILD
Nature will vehemently produce worse idiots consistently.
Warhammer The Horus Heresy Forgeworld Cataphractii Terminators
So like
I do think that chapter house was trying to show up in the search engine
before GW
because the words they chose are more generic
and thus getting more attention from GW
Yepo
that would literally be the easiest case of copyright infrigement in the world since it directly takes away revenue from GW
also this one was absurd, "White Scars Mongolian heads"
was the name

Why tf didn't you just call them
"Mongolian Space Marine Heads"
mongolian lmao
you have plausible deniability
since GW can't copy right space marine
or mongolian

space marine isn't copyrighted?
its not
its why GW uses Adeptus Astartes in all actual legal stuff for filing copyright for their units
also why its called Codex Adeptus Astartes
In the actual like physical product
i feel like tabletop wise they own the name
well
they lost that lawsuit
hard lol
and imo they deserved to lose that lawsuit
there's a ton of other systems that use the term space marine
its not fair imo
was it against tabletop companies or a wider use of space marine
interesting
GW was extremely litigious
during the 5e to 7e period
observe you can see when they lost their lawsuit lol
lmao
Astra Militarum/Imperial guard
that one makes sense
And yes that name change gets referenced by our Rejects
no way is imperial guard a trademark
way too generic
LMAO
did they actually try to copyright a fucking greek alphabet letter
removing the word Eldar
from the eldar codex as well
bcs Eldar is copyrighted by the TOLKIEN ESTATE
wait eldar isnt copyrighted?
i thought 40k invented eldar to not use elf
Eldar being an in universe common term for Aeldari
Oh so THAT is why it’s that now
This ones also super funny since its the exact same art
now you might be wondering why isn't it called Codex Heretic Astartes on the cover(GW figured out the solution and its called hiding it inside the book)
Somewhat true. Some are around in obscure lore bits
Aeldari was the one that they literally pulled out their ass
Before it is brought up as the copyright weapon.
but ironically Asuryani and Drukhari had existed
Huh
they learned from their mistake by making league of votaan the most trademarketable name ever
I am most familiar with Adeptus Astartes (and variations) pre existing.
age of sigmar
as well lmao
Soulblight Gravelords, Stormcast Eternals, Slaves to darkness
Oruuk warhordes
i just find it funny that league of votann has nothing in the name indicating it's dwarves
Would GW of that time try to sue Trench Pilgrims?
Cathay getting that treatment, but really thanks to Total War, the names were invented in a proper dev cycle and not as silly sounding.
not anything for them to sue
trench crusade is way too original
eh, I think a lot of the names are fine
for other stuff
Reminds me of a certain demographic whining about TC no longer being a bastion of right wing nuts.
you know the funny thing is that by making all the factions have wacky names it made it more confusing for new people to know what to buy
tbf it never was
lol
Not really, since the common terms still show them
lol
if you google Imperial guard warhammer
the top option is the GW website
im just saying, if their idea was to stand out from the market by using their own names then that's kinda moot when you're already the most popular setting in the industry
well
thats not the issue
the issue is they have to use those names
for actual copyright
they want to hold the legal rights to the stuff
they could use space marine legally, they just wouldnt be able to sue competitors
Again you can also thank varying copyright laws in different countries making it difficult.
