the FO4 and 3 Super mutants are uh
very basic
aside from a few of them
like Fawkes
and the dude from Far harbor
OK but how do they make more of themselves because if I remember those are the ones that you need to throw them in a dangerous virus thingy goop that would turn them into those giant monsters
they don't
Most are kinda dumb in 1,2, nv but it’s like, no where near as bad as 4
explictly in universe they're a dying breed and most of them are okay with that
they're like stupid normal person and violent(in 1) because they're soldiers with orders to kill and capture people
not Raaaagh I'm a generic scary monster
and I eat people
so the only breed left that is multiplying is the dumb ones from 4?
The east coast ones yes
East coast variants are The end result of a twitch streamer
God I love Erickson
the west coast ones kind of aknowledge they're well not natural
and just want to live out their lives now
thats the far harbor dude right
and how do those guys come about
Yea
Marcus was so chill in 2 and NV
they got made in FO3 and 4 in vault experiments or the institute fucking around
respectively
not sure how they came to be in 76
He was a trans lady too which I just learned
so how do they make more of themselves
but in FO1, 2 and NV they got made because of The Master
dunk humans in FEV
because like you said these guys don't have any qualms about that stuff
i see
sometimes they come out as a super mutant
sometimes they die horribly
sometimes something weird happens
west tek kidnapping people
wonderful
I hated those geeks in 76
My favorite part is they were STILL DOING IT after the bombs dropped
until they had an outbreak
you've obviously never seen the rules for Myfarog, the TTRPG by racist idiot varg vierkenes
Isn't that one actually playable
despite being horrifically racist
no
lol
unless by playable you mean spending 3 hours talking about preserving food for a short journey
RAHOW?
myfarog is regularly updated because varg is unfortunately not destitute
WHAT
he is, ironically, a welfare recipient lol
oh is this teh one where you have to roll for your genetalia sizes?
white supremacists when you give money to starving people of color 😡
white supremacists when they get free money 🙂
no thats FATAL
LMAO
which is technically playable if you're really good with a slide rule and quadratic equations lol
FATAL Is

well FATAL is FATAL
the dude who made it was also sexist + maybe racist
hes def sexist
no kidding
the racist part is up for debate
i prefer my SA themed TTRPGs designed by women
I choose to not engage in that debate because that would mean thinking about FATAL
server doesnt like my word choice
i have heard it described as a date "sexual assault" rpg without dating mechanics
AHAHAAH
dark heresy kroot stuff
There is literally a rule for the word that the bot hates
during combat
i love kroot
More TTRPG's should have you roll to determine your anal circumference
its an R or be R-ed world in FATAL
this is how you know a game is about to be peak
the funniest thing about the anal circumference table is it's perfectly reasonable to roll a negative anal circumference
reminder in FATAL
if you roll that your character is gay
and you roll happy marriage for your relationship status
you need to reroll
💀
Owlcat I need dark heresy out now
god i love kroot
give me my kroot queen
oh yeah @arctic talon hows the new killteams update
Neat
I think I have a few issues with some of them
PF didn’t need the nerf
The rest of the changes are good
i do love wackjob RPG mechanics
there's an old game called Paranoia where the rules are "classified" and if your character reveals too much knowledge of them the GM (playing as Friend Computer) is allowed to execute them
you play as a team of Troubleshooters, whos job is to find trouble and then shoot it
Nobilis is pretty weird, the best way to pick a lock is to talk to it and persuade it to open
all the stats are insane too
damage resistance defines the maximum damage you can be harmed by, with the minimum level being immune to nuclear bombs and the maximum level being immune to being disliked
(i dont think you can RAW get the last two tiers of any stat as a player)
This is like the best showing of their houses innit
kroot tech is mysterious
but yeah i dont think we've seen what they normally live like we almost exclusively see mercenaries
even warworlds have only come up a handful of times
There’s industry hidden on their homeworld
but this is the best look at what kroot houses are like
they've also lost an unclear amount of tech (they're still way more advanced than they present but they clearly had their own DOAT-fall thing)
there was a short story about psychic kroot who ate eldar?
you'd think that would happen more often
cant believe i forgot this lore
the kroot technical revolution happened when they ate a bunch of mekboyz and stole their genetic technical skills lol
👏 FEED 👏 A KROOT 👏 A JOKAERO 👏
i still maintain that the felinid lore where a kroot says they're hard to distinguish from humans just means they taste the same
…I think the guy who founded Tamiya miniature modelling supplies passed away
Rip to a real one
Shunsaku Tamiya? Damn, that's a shame. I remember my Dad and I buying an M26 Pershing miniature years back
varg's got to be my favorite lolcow because he's one of the few that actually deserves to be one
best side cutters i've ever had
vargs an insanecow and also, iirc, a murderer?
the story i remember is all in stage names i dont remember who was who
his story BEGINS as a literal murderer, where he then found RPGs and Odin in prison
i think he found odin before, the band was notorious for church burnings lol
except he then proceeded to immediately begin his single-man deranged fanfiction version of neopaganism
if you've seen anything about his blog recently he talks about neopaganism the same way like
mormons talk about christianity
i think my favorite varg quote is "i didn't make talismans out of his skull but having heard the idea i wish i had"
the stave-burning era is weird, its unsure if he was satanic or was literally just pretending to be one to be in euronymous's good graces (the guy he ended up murdering later)
he is, right now, living with an equally-racist insane white supremacist wife who sometimes takes over the blog to give HER insane schizo-paganism
in rural france
purely on government money
💀
when you really think about it, he's just living like his proud ancestors like Rollo
yeah euronymous was not a good guy, just about nobody in the stave church burning scene was particularly decent
but it's not like varg was doing it out of any righteous indignation, it was at best just pure hypocrisy
and at worst literally wanted euronymous's money LOL
he murdered euronymous, iirc, because he was convinced euronymous was going to murder HIM
Oh obviously not
that's the story he tells yeah, which is the most interesting one of course, that euronymous was going to literally sacrifice varg to satan
The dude is probably clinically insane
and so varg, the trve viking warrior he is, had to strike first :v
i dont believe euronymous was going to kill varg but i do believe varg believed that
myfarog is probably the best lens into most of his beliefs (except for his Asgard-Placenta Theory) and you can see indeed how much of a deranged hypocrite he is
like in the first pages he's like "I just love traditional fantasy, Tolkien is my biggest inspiration in writing this game I love Lord of the Rings"
and the main antagonists?
literally just Christians proselytizing the land coming from the south
of course in universe they're proselytizing for some super evil demon god but it's all conveniently Christ-coded
well you have to understand that in his world, it all goes back to the Jews, and Christianity is just the proxy to deceive the trve vvestern man
and that the real way of living is to rely on government food stamps
also magic exists but only white people can cast it, also women can't practice magic if they're not virgins
those two bits i always remember because they're the first times something outrageous happens in the book so it absolutely sucker-punched me
like the CoD scene where you get decked down a flight of stairs
i would be a lot more angry about him if anyone worth listening to took him seriously
but his status as the eternal psychocow makes him easier to just laugh at
proselytism, such an archaic term
is there a more modern word?
its such a perfect encapsulation that you can say "the best view into his mindset is his tabletop game, except [most insane phrase you've ever heard]"
proselytizing is used all the time
i dont think proselytism is a word afaik
Sometimes I wonder what happens to a person
For them to go down this rabbit hole lol
myfarog for all of its blindside moments is really not especially varg-specific, it's more just generic neo-nazi drivel, so Mr. Varg's Wild Ride only REALLY starts if you're unfortunate enough to read his blogs
I dunno, convert i guess. but i've seen that word many times, and sadly, is often a negative connotation in society
proselytise is the act of converting
it's literally the word they use for what they do
i think its specifically the act of preaching to the unfaithful
(from their perspective)
conversion efforts are largely looked down upon in modern society because its annoying as hell
and have you ever talked to an adult convert
least normal members of any given religion
Christians are literally divinely obligated to proselytize, so i doubt that's gonna go away anytime soon
we get the occasional zealots at the store i work at, at least once a year
so is Islam
yeah its super annoying lol
funny enough, their divine commandment to proselytize is historically considered one of the main reasons for how they even got so big in the first place
im just trying to go to the drive in i dont need someone preaching over an amplifier
and they're pretty unique in doing that
i thought the historical concensus for the mass rise of christianity outside of the former roman empire had a lot to do with charity etc during the black death
well the specific vehicles are all very complicated and depend on the time and place
turns out people care a whole lot about their lives being saved compared to being yelled at
i once had a guy try to convert me to islam in the chat of an online yugioh game
but the main thing is that they're explicitly motivated to convert people by any means, which is pretty rare among priests/clerics of religions in general
its sad really. I feel like its something that is best shared "individually" and personally. Spouting scripture to the masses and publically who have not even glimpsed at a bible will just turn em away.
i said "no and also you lost stop stalling"
conversion techniques are pretty sophisticated especially after 1000s of years, but yeah i dont think shouting from the square like Heimskr is gonna change many minds in the age of information
but for example the whole missionary program is pretty effective
oh yeah, my best friend went on a month long missions trip in Japan
all the effective efforts actually like, help people out and stuff
yeah pretty much
most of the public conversion efforts in the US are just people yelling on street corners
or knocking on your door during dinner time
mormon foreign missions are for getting converts but im pretty sure domestic missions are to convince mormon kids that non-mormons hate them
way back when they would do some more heavy-handed tactics like "Convert or you won't be allowed to buy or sell stuff with us anymore." which pretty much killed off the entire Viking way of life
but that's not really an option anymore
also literally just killing them but that's a given
thanks, Charlemagne, for chopping down the coolest tree in history. Great stuff, there
hey at least its a playable character in dominions 6
Wonder how UK's doing. The islamic faith has continued to grow prominently
strictly speaking it was hardly a case of the mean evil christians bullying the wholesome reddit pagans, they attacked first and were doing all sorts of butchery
but charlemagne didn't have to chop down the tree
asshole
irminsul in an obscure 4x game my beloved...
we LOVE irminsul
you know, if the germanic religion was true and literal, charlemagne would've destroyed all of creation right then and there
we'd all be reduced to ginungagap in an instant
the primordial void?
yeah
since this game is extremely weird this was my pretender god for a nation of frost giants and my goal was to gather enough blood sacrifices to summon fimbulwinter as a global spell
so the cosmology essentially goes, niflheim (iceworld) and muspelheim (fireworld) mix to make reality out of steam, where before there was just the void
and from the steam is yggdrassil (irminsul) and all the realms attached to it
shoutouts to what remains of the original norse creation myth
asgard never stood a snowball's chance with surtr
yeah the all father's dad was there
where did he come from? his dad was also there
where did he come from? uhh... cow licked him out of ice?
Curse of heavenly bureaucracy
that's fairly part and parcel for pre-christian religious myths, this sorta weird, arbitrarily paradox-contradiction stuff
Ngl I don’t even know any of the Chinese religions creation myths
Aside from the clusterfuck hacked together one my grandparents vaguely told me
their myths are like a bag of trail mix
as i understand it a bunch of the dynasties adapted their own
if that sort of stuff is genuinely fascinating to you i really recommend you look at the setting Runequest, it encapsulates sort of the true essence of polytheistic worship perfectly
and it makes the likes of D&D look like idiot-work
Truth nuke
runequest is a TTRPG and has a few video games as well, also some books
Feels like I’m having a stroke when I hear someone say they’re not religious and then pray to their ancestors in Taiwan

there's a comic but it looks like it was made by the adventure time author so im not sure its the wisest first-introduction
never ask what the "hardcore atheists" get up to when they want their team to win in football
hardcore atheists praying to science to accidentally have an accident on the enemy team
this except it's literally ritualistically smelling the top of a beer bottle
Tbf that’s just the case of that sort of religion in Taiwan and China tbh
People don’t consider it religion
It’s weird
It’s just “tradition” rather then religion
Go to a temple before a test for good luck, Ect. lol
i feel like superstition is sort of a manifestation of our inherent desire to try to do ANYTHING to control a situation we either don't understand or don't have direct control over at all
if it's nurtured enough and is allowed to grow ideological implications then it becomes what we'd call religion
"praying to Science", lol. reminds me of that south park episode "go god go" where one of em says 'science damn you!'
but otherwise it's pretty fascinating how it seemingly comes from that same source
Anyways I prayed at a temple before my recent semester and I took one of the blessed pencils after my fortune said I would succeed in my academics

I am guilty of this
hey if you like religious trees and religious mechanics why not be a little religious yourself hey
the vikings would carve runes of good luck into their swords and other gear
y'know if they say it'll keep your head from getting smashed into a pulp
why not
I had to chuck the damn jiaobei like 15 times
"magic runes, laddie!"
Before I got a good result
viking swordlore is actually super fascinating
the idea is that the swords become magical entities of their own and that's how they are able to perform better in combat
but to do that you have to name them and specifically carve their name into the blade
The funniest divination tool
i always thought any carving on a blade post smithing would diminish its quality, but i guess it would depend on one's design
It’s actually two wooden half crescents lol
But it’s so funny watching people chuck them repeatedly
At a temple
When praying
the thing that most people don't talk about enough is that the celts and germanics were like
MASTER metalworkers
achieving things you wouldn't see commonly for another 1000 years
what we say of the greeks and romans and their masonry/architecture, applies to the "barbarians" and their metalworking
they were extremely good at making both functional and intricate pieces
sad that such a craft is near or almost extinct now. lost to history
some of the most applicable techniques did survive at least, in the renaissance period some of the most famed workshops were in germany which IMO couldn't have been a coincidence
the designs were typically very shallow and made prominent with something like acid etching iirc
another example is the sutton hoo helmet, which isn't viking but is germanic (anglo-saxon)
amazing
Gigachad inquistor
I wanna do another cyberpunk playthrough but also another RT playthrough
Burdened by choice
Consider: There is already another RT DLC on the way. It's better to wait for the Grand Playthrough when they finish releasing DLCs, so Cyberpunk is great for stalling.
Tallarn is on good terms with Craftworld Biel-Tan (aka the most xenophobic eldar of all), Eldar are legally allowed into a special part of Necromunda’s Hive Primus to trade, Stormtroopers of the 86th Deltic Dragons are specifically tasked with Tau joint ops, Navigator House Belisarius (the one the Space Wolves hire from) is close pals with Craftworld Ulthwe, and Eldrad himself is personally dedicated to humanity’s survival, often sending Ynnari detachments to help out the Imperium.
Pretty interesting piece of lore
Still can't wrap my head around the fact that Imperium allow Eldar to own some piece of land.
Well
It's not that they own it
More that there's a specific place designated where they're allowed to trade
Likely made possible via how powerful The Helmawrs are and them using that power to give themselves an easy in to the Cold Trade
wait, quick question-- Grendyl is based on the Grendel from the Beowulf epic, right? The cursed half brother thing?
if we had any of the other cast...
beowolfer...
but yeah i think its pretty unlikely? after all who would grendel's mother be
The inquisition struck a deal with Commorragh to have some of their experts come study the golden throne to see if they could reverse its decline
Damn.
or Hrothgar
This did not go well
that sounds like the next sentence is "and they all got gunned down by custodes"
apparently the whole Black Throne Arc is pretty high up there in "parts of lore we pretend didn't happen"
unfortunately not
I mean some of them got gunned down
i dunno, names kind of have meaning to some extent. Hadron for instance is named for the "strongly interacting particles", bosons and fermyons. The Rogue trader ship itself is a hive of interactions between the imperium of man, the inquisition, and the cultus mechanicus. Morrow, a portmanteau of Marrow and tomorrow, is the lifeblood of the incursion. Brahms, possibly named after Johannes Brahms, who "was a German composer, virtuoso pianist, and conductor of the mid-Romantic period. His music is noted for its rhythmic vitality and freer treatment of dissonance, often set within studied yet expressive contrapuntal textures" which kind of ties into her dualistic nature between pious control and unculled ambition
mechanicus names are almost always science terms, im not sure if its assumed when you become a priest or just how they name kids on forge worlds
I thought they were often aphanumeric like T-3601-B
LMFAO
i wonder what's the silliest name you can get stuck with
they can also be alphanumerics yeah
unfortunately most science terms actually sound cool in the void
Im pretty sure this plotline is done and dusted in Vaults of Terra
aka literally went nowhere
so its hard for me to think of a silly one
Kayex is actually KX-something
Mechanicus names vary wildly
Belesarius Cawl's name is in fact just Belesarius Cawl lol
Right but in this context, names more often than not are allegorical
Mourningstar for obvious reasons
I could not finish those books
it depends but yes in Darktide def
the techpriests in RT are mostly famous scientists iirc?
the only one i remember by name is pascal
40k names are picked because they sound cool, dont read too much into it, barely most of them got a deep meaning
Do you want spoilers
its nothing mindblowing but lol
I already know them
Good lmao
I'm pretty sure
another|| "entire cast dies lol lmao"||
Yep
I remember finishing it and being like
Kharibs name means nothing
"Well okay i guess"
its one of my fav things when i write 40k
aka just making up names
its so lame when they pick pre-existing shit
unless it has some actual meaning behind it
At least your not the tech priest named Frank
Kharib might be a corruption of Khatib from Ibn Al-Khatib
Melk roughly translates to milk, and explains his sour disposition and curdled features
LOL
"Emile Zola was a French author and the founder of the literary movement called Naturalism. He is known for his striking narrative which offers the true portrayal of the human condition" Zola is also the native from the planet, and often fights FOR the people
but yeah they MIGHT have chosen grendyl as "hes a monster hiding in a cave" based on what we're learning but i doubt it goes any farther into the epic based on the lack of anyone else from it
I just think more often than not the name is allegorical, and Grendyl being an amalgam of Grendel who is the cursed being in the epic is allusive to their fate
Prolly ties into grandpa Brahms
grendyl might also just not be his name lol
a pseudonym would be the least paranoid thing we've seen him do
Excuse me its Grendel

i wish 40k had that level of thought put into names
But theyve been called Grendyl by people who met them
i thought it was y in the game and e in the poem
And again, allegorical to the mythical cursed being that needs to be killed after hiding in a cave for 15 years
I should pretend all my essays are just warhammer homebrew lore so I can type 3 pages in 46 minutes
this is how pseudonyms work when you tell them to people
rannick has never even seen his boss
Only brought out by an act of trickery
Reminds me of that one meme
where some worker whos been in some shitty workplace for like 10 years
get a picture of his boss on a paper with a CONGRADULATIONS text beneath it

that is not grendel's fate in the poem
his fate in the poem is getting his arm torn off and dying
does Beowulf fuck Grendel's mom in the poem too?
I gotta know for uh
historical reason

all i know of poetry is nelligan and his vagina boat
no actually, that was a rewrite for the movie so they could have angelina jolie naked
Is this a bad thing

im still waiting for games workshop to finish their ragnarok allegory and have leman russ show up with a lost primarch whos wearing a magic boot
Fair, but all I'm saying is maybe from a gameplay perspective it could be a pseudonym but Dan Abnet likes to write tragedy with a narrative focus on development
well, the other reason is because they wanted to make it more of an allegory of toxic masculinity per the production people
but seeing angelina jolie naked was probably a non-zero factor
Yeah but
its hot
so

also boobs make any historical re-telling better, trust me
i think in the poem grendel's mom is also a monster
and then beowulf goes and fights a dragon and gets fucking killed
grendyl has nothing to do with the poetic grendel of any sort, unless grendyl turns out to be a satanic inbred descended from cain
in the original poem, they essentially have nothing to do with the dragon, in fact the helot adventure is arguably completely unrelated to the actual dragon battle
in the movie, they make it so the dragon is his son
Outside of speculation, can you 100% say that he isn't the big bad at the end of the story?
i mean anything can happen
He's been suspiciously quiet-- my thought is that he's been compromised and the reason they're radio silent, after presumably hundreds of years with boots on the ground is because something is being culled
he's probably just ludicrously addicted to the idea of OpSec
And with the narrative and allegorical elements, especially with Dan Abnets use of INquisitors passing a line, it's not a long stretch
he speaks during the arbites intro scene
which isn't entirely out of character for being an inquisitor
Or its a pre-recording
why would he pre record a sudden change of events
say what you will about the beowulf movie, the main theme was badass

Thanks for Watching!
My bad I thought you meant "reject", misread on my part-- he just tells Rannick he's a failure and hangs up
that implies that he knew arbites would be called in at some point and he's left hundreds of tapes for situations that might happen in the future
which i hope is true for the sake of funny
I mean its not hard when the war has a direct impact on the imperial tithe, especially with the hits to Moebian steel and lehman russ tanks
this would be 100% and played with a straight face if this were a batman comic
"Robin. I've pre-recorded 8 billion potential orders."
LMAO batman has prerecorded dozen of videos in case of his death
"Alfred, activate operation guano knightfall"
yeah lol he literally just wanders off to go do something else heroic and gets fucking owned, cant win em all!
My whole point in even bringing up the name thing is because it's been almost 10/10 based on how characters were designed and the covalent meaning behind their name. Not impossible to make the reach, and something tickles me that Grendyl is a big baddie
this is a nice idle task to do while im sitting through lecture
what the fuck is jones reagent supposed to be
chromium trioxide in sulfuric acid? who tf comes up with that
i mean Jones did but still
how would it tie into the game's plot if he's heretic or otherwise
he's clearly not pro nurgle at least
I agree
I mean why protect Atoma at all? The forges have been cold for some time, entire hab blocks have been quarantined for hundreds of years, Grendyl has been gone for quite some time, the Mourningstar is cursed for some reason, we have 2 aeldari corsair ships hovering around for some reason....
what if he's pro khorne and sends in all the rejects to die and give power to him
Because it could mean that we're pushing the agenda of something that doesn't quite align with the Imperium directive
And touting the rosette to do so is almost theatrical
He
a bunch of the forges are still running
Because atomas important
And it's not completely lost yet
No but we've destroyed far more important planets just cause they might be tyranid food, regardless of their importance
is it related to electroplating
no it oxidizes alcohols
But why hasn't Armageddon been destroyed then
Same reason they are important
Tertium means 3 in high gothic, we know of ONE other hive city that went dark...wyrmwood agents being outed and killed almost immediately after being deployed to the sister city...
And also it's not that bad yet, there's not even Marines around
3 or 3rd*
yes but does it have a purpose for the game development? fatshark has mainly added new lore elements to hint at or go along with game additions afaik
the third city might be a secret or it might just not exist, we dont know when atoma was settled
a hive might have come and gone in 15000 years or something
Just going based off of names, Tertium translates to 3 in latin
which implies a 1 and a 2
and we definitely know of one other hive city
yeah im saying city 1 might have worn out a long time ago we dont know
tertium is falling apart even without chaos
the atmospheric shield is going etc
For the purpose of game development, it's a narrative scope-- and can introduce so many elements like genestealers, which can be an enemy NPC faction
the favored grove of Biology
i assume hive secundus or whatever will be a chaos wastes type deal like a lot of others do
then why risk so much to protect it? Metal isn't worth it when an entire planet is failing anyways to confirmed genestealer cults, nurgle water infestation, and failing atmosphereic shields. Not to mention it's a toxic wasteland outside the hive
40k planets sometimes use their position in their star system as a name. tertium isn't unique to have that name
lots of secundus's around
It is if the planet is Atoma Prime, which kind of insuates the "most important" but I could be reaching
we get lines about them getting the rite of steel working in active, controlled manufactories
Primus = first
Istvan doesn't even bother going that far, it just puts the number after the system's name
Again, importance of names
to me that's like saying istvan III had significance in its name
it was secretly the REAL earth...
Not by itself, but if Istvan III had Istvania Prime then that pushes it ahead of the others, at least from a laymans perspective
the imperium does a LOT of "naming stuff in the order they start using it"
istvan III is (probably?) the third planet from the star, istvania prime was probably the first city in the system
Exactly!
And I made up Istvania prime its not a real city, at least as far as I know
just as an example
yeah i was thinking i was pretty sure istvan III was unsettled
its like a horrid shitworld iirc
before they make it worse
Feel like 40K is missing a lot of South American representation but I have no proof
It’s just an aura
everyone in 40k is british thats the dystopia
Very true
the istvan III naming is something we do now though
when we discover exoplanets we name them based on distance from the star (once we think we've found all the ones we will)
The only thing I can think of that actually could represent South America is the Pauper Princes 😭
see Trappist IV
it's also missing quite a lot of asian representation that isn't china, japan or an amalgamation
Their home plant is apparently basically Brazil
there's like one titan legion that's indian themed
Yeah south east Asia basically has nothing
Russia, China, Japan, and Mongolia have reps but I think that’s it? I can’t remember the Chinese rep tho
Lmao
I get the reference lmao
There's a few guard regiments rather
there's also a few other things
random bits and bobs mostly due to how GW likes to write
I know AOS has some India reps
and because marketing wise it's mostly just the big names that get the attention
Tahlia is supposed to be Indian
if you want your greek or roman though 40k has you covered
And apparently in her book she is written like that
Lmao
I only said her because she’s the most important character in cities
But I was referring to sub factions and stuff
if it's a prominent racial demographic in london it probably will get represented
there probably is some subfaction
that is Indian
I just don't know it bcs I'm blind lol
Oh yeah there were the Tiger Claws which were an astral claws sucessor
yes you can make fun of the name
GW was not being very creative
there's lots of random characters that seem british indian
yeah that also
And Scandinavian through the Space Wolves I assume?
but the Tiger Claws tried to ring the alarm bells when the Astral Claws went traitor
and Huron kind of killed them all and wore them like a puppet

and the entire faction of votaan
looks up Warhammer India
the most racist kitbash models i ever seen come up
most IG kitbashing is very disappointing
"Hey guys here's just an actual IRL historical army that I gave lasguns."
tbf
and IG fans start losing their minds like they saw the kitbashing equivalent of mozart
funny thing is that's pretty much how GW does minor guard regiments
yeah exactly
I know tempest eye is pretty chinese
and it gives me an aneurysm just how little effort goes into integrating the aesthetics into the setting
hey still better than differently coloured space marines
i love my diet russians (valhallans)
thats just a paint scheme
id like valhallans if they wore actual flak armor but kept the ushankas, at least TRY to pretend they're all part of the same setting
how does one kitbash a space marine without just adding a bunch of bits to the model and making it a named character
Wdym
"oh yeah actually they're wearing flak armor see their coats are bulletproof" 🤪
If you want to make them a specific cultural influence use stuff from that culture
hey i dont even like flak armor
and integrate it into 40k
with greenstuff work
A lot of kitbashes are bare effort
though
if the standard was that they were all wearing just normal clothes and no armor and it was lore that the cadians were unique in wearing their armor
that'd be one thing
but GW's like "oh yeah it's actually all flak-rated armor that's standard issue, just some people have inexplicably more advanced versions"
i feel like lethis is based off something bu idk what
will never not mald over that
wdym advanced
it's all just flak
none of it really protects you
a solid block that you wear over your chest that has the same stopping power as actually comfortable clothing
is very crude compared to the latter
its the roofs
I don't remember what its from
its in an overwatch map right???
i haven't seen it stated that they provide the same level of protection. just tabletop wise
i only recognize it from overwatch 😭 lmao
nah i swear its literally like "Yeah the mordian's dress clothes are actually technobabble-mesh that is just as protective of flak armor"
i'll find the specific source in time
yeah the valhallan and krieg coats count as flak. personally i like to think it's worse than actual vests though
also dark heresy makes them equally protective
the only real rationalization i can consider is that they're wearing hard-protection under the clothes
i like the chestplates that krieg engineers get
which especially in the big coat-wearers' cases isn't too outrageous
go go chinese pagoda
Thank you tempests eye
Tempests eye is kind of an east asian clusterfuck tbh
this is the magical city of sigmar right
at this point from all the stuff i've learned second hand from dark heresy, i will chose to ignore such things
yeah lmao
yeah, the one taht can see the future
(AND A MEMEBER OF THE GRAND CONCALVE SOLD THEIR MILITARY ADVANTAGE TO THE FUCKING SKAVEN)
(THE CITY IS ACTIVELY BEING INVADED BY SKAVEN SPIES)
they never learn huh
peak
Money moment
mf accepting bribes from the rats that eat childern
imagine they just have this as their interpretation of dracothion inside the temple
They seemed like good people
weird rodent shaped people
smh
genuinely wtf did they even get
as a bribe
money?
warpstone?
cannonical appearance of sun dragons btw
cheese
if there's one thing skaven are excellent connoisseurs of
They seemed like good people
me personally i'm in for the smog ridden city that is Greywater Fastness
one of the only two cities of sigmar where you can get chemically addicted to the money
Best city
man they really cashed out by being the german themed city of sigmar
german or germanic
whats the difference?
yessir
i use ot think the fucking city was on fire in this pic
BUT NO THATS JUST HOW THE CITY LOOKS
NO YOU GUYS ATE FRED
smh
IT GOES HARD
THE FIRES OF INDUSTRY NEVER END
which city/town lol
im glad hammerhal took a page out of greywater fastness and just point thier entire industry towards war mongering properganda
excelsis
no like
i have only played world
i dotn remember i never got far in the game
oh wow its alot more pirate than i remember
it is Astera
OH YEAH
They don't treat humanity as like one culture beyond the hunters guild lol
THE OTHER CITY THAT USES DRUGS ARE A CURREENCY
yup
misthaven
they are so lucky that sigmar put the astral templars there instead of hte knights of excelsis
knights excelsior*
I do think its kind of disapointing wilds has very little like
the astral templars stopped even bothering stopping the mass drug production
large architetural stuff
There's ancient ruins and stuff but its not the same as actively lived in stuff
The villages are neat but they're mostly much smaller(which is fine)
You're telling me the drug producers didn't stop producing drugs even when the literal Immortal champions of war are posted up in their territory?
I just wish that they were bigger and we got to see more of the native populations like architecture lol
yeah
Yes
they are some ballsy ass motherfuckers
There's this one short story
where a necromancer
keeps on inviting a stormcast
whenever they finish their temple
and then a few months later the stormcast come to destroy it
lol
LMAO
BAHAHAHAHAH
thats just how bad the drug production is
the astral templars now jsut go and stop the dangerous drugs
these 2 towns for MH are in the same game btw lol
God
And you just reminded me of something I wanted to forget
its not only a spit in the face to monster hunter
If the reactor of a tomb world was overloading, would its inhabitants try to flee/phase away? Or would they try to stop it?
Try to stop it, if it fails phase away
I imagine warriors wouldn’t even react
The best game in terms of diverse towns/cities in monster hunter is like Monster hunter 4U
which is super diverse
what about wilds how does it hold up in that stuff
let me note that
i'm guessing not much
Val habar, Harth, Cathar are all very distinct. Also cheeko but thats just a shipwreck and mostly felynes
aesthetically?
yeah
Orthodox church/persian stuff
oh makes sense
damn this is pretty good
didnt expect high elves to be european
The locations are diverse but like, Only Kunafa I'd really call original architecture
The other native populations do have distinct cultures
but are living in ruins so all their architecture goes around that stuff
OHH THE CHEESE VILLAGE
i think the living city isnt based off antyhign besides druids
What the fucj is the name of that one
The Living City?
so pretty decent?
like azuz is cool but its built on ruins
Its really fun
the entire place is also covered by oil by the way
so at certain times the entire place can literally just catch fire
and is what the Azuz people have rebuilt
*note to self fsteal ideas from MH
over the ages
On the otherhand the really really old stuff
is all caked in oil
and stuff
the people there are unbelievably heat resistant
jesus christ
Oilwell basin is a really fun swamp environment
because its not just a normal swamp
its an oil swamp
isn't Sigmarsheim like a literal giant space-station type city
how is anybody attacking that
?
you meaen uh, the city in azyr
fire
i remember something about how Sigmar's capital is a ring in space
azuz gets a lot hotter along with the rest of the basin
in age of sigmar, in azyr the city that makes lal of the stormcast stuff is on a meteor let me get it
that one iirc has never been attacked
most of Azyr hasn't been touched by chaos in general
that's the one
the city in azyr is Azyrheim
basically lmao
it's also home to this inflatable nightmare looking bastard
Monster Hunter Online also has some interesting like villages. Though the actual events and monsters of the game are non canon the locations are real
Milard and mezeporte are pretty unique
WOAHA
MH: GPU killer
funnily enough Mezeporta has a much older iteration in frontiers for a specific "gate" area
every monster hunter game starting with World has had godawful optimization lol
yeahhhhhhh
I wanted to play MH but then I remember the fucking literal spreadsheet of work for most aspects of the game
The old games are still great though
i wnana make a city of sigmar based off a planet in endless space 2
eh its not that bad
let me find it
you don't need to like
Do any of that at all
until G-rank stuff
which isn't in Monster hunter Wilds(yet)
Also it’s just so much grind
okay yeah that part is
yeah
LOL
also Gildegaran which is only in monster hunter stories but I'd assume the city is real even if the games events aren't canon lol
Like I’ve got so many games to play and finish I feel like if I bought Wilds I’d either never play my games, or never play wilds
Yeah just
play your games
tbh the best way to play
the newer monster hunter games
if you're casual
is to wait until the DLC comes out
then buy it
oh yeah the Bhagaba's homeplanet lmao
its a fuck ton of content that you can work through slowly
oh thats sick
lmao
I mean its true
lol
Monster hunter games have(historically) not launched complete
since fucking monster hunter 2
it might be one of the oldest live service games around
their homeplanet, by pure random chance, became a giant fucking super computer
Also it’s probably only fun with friends and idk if they’d even play it with me
using the movements of rocks and coral growth
Eh its def fun solo
imo
but that might be because
I've played monster hunter for years
lol
and the accidentally egenerated supercomputer, created life and commited suicide by making a black hole
Guh
Don't forget 2
Lulucion
i played 2 extensively
its like way more industrialized then any other city so far
anyways my most wanted siege monster in Wilds is some monster part of the Mohran ecological family
if i remember correctly
Giant Land whales
its been a whiel since idid their quest line
OOOOOOOO
mostly docile but their migrations are super destructive
There's also Mahana Village
so the ones that get too close to villages need to get diverted from villages or slain
I FORGOT THEY CAN WEAR CLOTHES 😭
please just keep them naked
they are considered a primative species tbf
evne tho they are a pacifist speices that loves talking to people
tbf primative != aggresive
fiar my bad
i mean like, the species that odnt have civilizations are consdiered primative
oh
then if i remember species that live in the ruins of the endless are scavangers, and then everything else is based off their politics
wait no sisters of mercy are considered primative
i ahve no clue wahat teh system is
Having known only the harsh world of Auriga, the Sisters of Mercy are adapting to the strangeness of life in space with some difficulty. Fortunately, their study and travel with the Vaulters has alleviated some of their shock and sense of displacement. As they attempt to rebuild a functioning society in this alien galaxy, they cling more than ever to their mission: Dispensing death or salvation as the situation merits. The practicing clans of the Sisters of Mercy try hard to separate the relative aspects of any situation--technology, cultural norms, history--from the absolutes of their faith--the belief in a universally applicable sense of right and wrong, and the responsibility to treat harshly those who cross the line between them.
oh yeah real primitive
true
i always forget these guys have like, a fully advanced civilziation and use to be a major faction
AMOEBA!!!
tbh I think the one monster hunter game that suffers the most in terms of locations for civilizations
Is like 3
because it has underwater combat
so all the gen 3 vilages/cities need to have a body of water nearby
Moga, Yukumo(there's a giant lake), port tanzia, and Loc Lac
doesn't mean they weren't creative but
all of them are trade ports/fishing related
fair
Loc Lac is prolly the most unique since its a desert town thats primarily accessed via sandship
note to self, coral could be a cool material to homebrew aorund
But it also has an ocean like right next to it
Coral Highlands monster hunter world
Ah mh3... my beloved
HOLY SHIT LMAO
I need to get back into wilds so i can fight lagiacrus again
that was the game my cousin bought me to convert me
and boy did it work
she did in fact convert me
i hope the older mosnterhunters get ported ot pc id love to play them
The coral highlands are super pretty yeah
Ive been begging for land only lagiacrus to make a comeback, ivory lagi was land only already
Hate lagi
That fight annoyed TF outta me
I double fainted to him
Nope
what then, those seem to be the carters when I play online tbh
The small shock explosion
oh
I clawed onto him only to die
The Coral Highlands are also funnily not underwater
oh the underwater part
the uh game doesn't tell you this
but the barnacles reduce lagi's charge underwater
if you shoot their spikes
Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Uh
the game really should tell you this in the tutorial for the underwater portion
but it doesn't
you basicially need to do it to open windows properly
Underwater makes it hard for me cause I'm a hammer main
Lagi also can be cluched onto underwater without consequences for the (upper body) during tail slam and (anywhere) during the lighting balls
Hard to hit monster in face when he constantly spews lightning
tbh
underwater you just don't worry about anything else but hitting them whereever
Its kind of counter intuitive because hitzones matter a lot outside of that
but aside from barnicles to the spikes just beat the crap out of wherever you can hang on with the clutch claw
Might be getting your wish, 3rd party store I usually order from is now selling it at a 35% discount. It must not be selling.
Dominion 2
50 minis for £120, that's the best cost ratio for any GW material in the past 15 years.
For 40k*
The free dominions are unbeatable
Wait there were free Dominion boxes?
One of the adepticons I believe gave visitors with a premium pass a free dominion box
I’ve seen ppl buy it fo 40 dollars tho lmao
But I guess we’re the suckers because literlaly the only good thing in that box in 4th edition is the knight arcanum
I thought the Dominion box was cool
GW massively overproduced it
The same is up with saturnine
Except even worse
Based on how early they’re being discounted
nah saturnine just has way less interest than GW expected
Dominion was being sold full price for a year
Nah element games had a bunch of canceled pre orders
Same with LGSs
It’s uh rough
Yea 35% off when it's not even left preorder is nuts
that's because people dont want it
you only overproduce if your expectations are wrong
Age of darkness sold insanely well
most HH people already own all that
