crystal forum
dapper gyro
#

Unlike EliteWolf, I would say 8 to 10 regular arbitrators vs 1 SM. Despite the description of the weapons, arbitratior's executioner gun needs time to acquire the target and the "aimbot" ammunition is not infallible.

opaque coyote
#

also

#

We have gone full circle.

dapper gyro
#

Even for scion, killing SM needs a squad prepared squad, knowing the target they are dealing with, with heavy weapons. So arby needs a bigger squad. Edit: 1st half of the message is above.

celest dome
#

Arbites vs SM really depend on how the combat goes.
Usually Arbites fight in places they know and in more defensive positions

dapper gyro
#

Terrain is important

#

In city, arby has the upper hand. However, some stuff like SM reiver and especially incursor would delete the arbitrators. Those SM are more specialized, but still just normal SM.

dapper gyro
# opaque coyote

If lasgun can make some SM pay caution, then SC marines can make SM run away.

queen laurel
dapper gyro
#

SC gauss gun is more powerful vs armour than pretty much any heavy bolter in 40K.

queen laurel
dapper gyro
#

If anyone argues about "but SC gauss gun is only .50"... Yeah, .50 bolter from the era before the imperium also shredded the SM.

queen laurel
#

So a miniaturised fully automatic rail gun

#

would definitely punch a hole through marine armor

dapper gyro
queen laurel
#

not a discredit to SC marines of course

dapper gyro
#

At 1800 rpm for an individual weapon, nothing in 40K even comes close. 30 rounds more powerful than heavy bolt per second is something.

dapper gyro
#

Also, SC marine suit can be operated by woman! To piss on the erratical 40K fans' wounds.

celest dome
#

I think if we took 2 planet of the same industrial power and gave them 100 years, the one with the Starcraft Tech would win over the one that specialised in Space Marines

queen laurel
#

terrans would fight dirty and use every advantage they could get

#

And they have a much more varied arsenal

dapper gyro
queen laurel
#

terrans don't really have those things

#

they are much more flexible in their war mindset is what i'm trying to say

dapper gyro
#

I think that's why I like SC and Halo more. They are more ground on the image of a soldier.

dapper gyro
#

You know, 40k people downplayed terran equipment, which led to them downplaying the other faction like protoss and zerg as well.

queen laurel
opaque coyote
#

If you're using only one

#

Unless if you decide to overcharge it to the point of being in danger of having it explode or if you somehow aim at a certain angle (good luck with that)

#

You're probably fucked

#

Btw the overcharge is more like a chance

#

But since you're up against an SM.

You're gonna die whether or not the Lasgun explodes or the SM gets to you

#

So might as well.

#

Now if you have like 10 people firing in a straight line

#

Now the SM is probably be scared

#

Or well "scared" in terms of

#

"I'm not stupid enough to just run to my death easily"

dapper gyro
#

Even a platoon of lasgun is still lasgun if they can kill a SM. In comparison, a platoon of rifleman with only rifle would have hard time to disable an up-armoured humvee.

opaque coyote
#

I think SC Marines could win a 1v1.

But most likely only a 30%

#

Chance?

#

Not because they lack the power. Mainly because SMs have enhanced reflexes

dapper gyro
#

Pretty much

#

If the SM is over confident for half a second, he is swiss cheese.

opaque coyote
#

Now then here's an interesting fight.

Grot Vs average low ranking Skaven

#

Both have no weapons

#

Who would win

dapper gyro
#

Like, people needs to understand how much of a force muliplier a weapon can be.

arctic talon
#

Me when pointy stick

dapper gyro
#

Like the best fighter in the world can't really fight a guy with knife in the street without injure.

opaque coyote
#

And we still haven't grown up from that.

We just made it better

#

And better

#

And better

#

And now we have metal tube that shoots out sharp rocks with fire

#

Who knows what's next

#

Oh right

Glowy rock inside giant spear that make big fire

dapper gyro
#

A medival knight can train all his life and be in his peak physical, but telling him to fight vs a guy with handgun? Even a 22lr would finish him quickly.

opaque coyote
#

So 22lr might not

#

Would hurt though

dapper gyro
#

Ok, that's fair.

#

If the SM think that SC Marine is worthless and charge in melee... 1 SC marines can mow down a squad of SM.

arctic talon
#

Knight armor was pretty good to bullets funnily enough

dapper gyro
#

Depending on the time frame

arctic talon
#

Though that fell off overtime

#

Pike and shot era

#

And before that

dapper gyro
#

The late armour are heavier to withstand firearms

#

It was then they decided to not go full set and only keep the essentials.

arctic talon
#

Well yeah

#

It would be unreasonably heavy

#

Tbh

dapper gyro
#

When it was still mainly against melee, their armours were lighter.

opaque coyote
#

Knight armor in general is pretty impressive in how it's designed.

Like sometimes we think of ancient people as dumb. But they somehow managed to make the weight distribution good despite not really doing the math for it

dapper gyro
#

The breastplate weight is almost doubled to stay bullet proof.

arctic talon
opaque coyote
arctic talon
#

They had less knowledge to work with but we’re as smart as us mostly

dapper gyro
#

Which is already a heavier piece of plate.

opaque coyote
#

Imagine seeing a dude in plate armor run towards you during the age where there was only swords, spears, bows, etc.

#

I would shit my pants

dapper gyro
#

With hard plate (hard doesn't mean heavy), stopping melee, especially blades, is not too difficult.

#

Funny logic gates

dapper gyro
#

(It is a joke)

opaque coyote
#

Also what is your opinion for how agile Space Marines are? Based on both canon and opinion

#

Personally I like to think they can do some parkour bullshit

#

Also because it's both terrifying and funny to imagine a Space Marine do a wall up

dapper gyro
#

Mass and speed is a powerful combination, but the mass could be an issue.

#

In 40K, most buildings can sustain SM, but it is not the case elsewhere, which could turn the field into death trap, so the speed can't be used there.

sour hornet
#

Their proportions make animating them moving with any degree of grace very very challenging.

#

Its gotten easier with Mark X and its more balanced proportions, but SM being modeled for tabletop minis first and actually being able to move second, means that SM actually being super agile is mainly gonna be lore fluff.

#

Like Spartans are way lower on the scale of Supersoldier when it comes to equipment compared to astartes, but Spartans are depicted more agile by an order of magnitude.

dapper gyro
#

The Youtube astartes, touted as the canon representation of the SM, has a lot of issues of you think a little more closely of it.

dapper gyro
#

That's fanmade animation...

sour hornet
#

Im comparing it and astartes since you mentioned it

dapper gyro
#

Oh, right

sour hornet
#

I dont know if I agree because the way space marines have to move is a little different

#

but they aren't really shown in astartes as doing anything particularly acrobatic

dapper gyro
#

In astartes, if it is lore accurate, not counting the 2 psychic enemies, there would be at least 3 SM died before reaching that point.

sour hornet
#

The run is dynamic yeah, but Halo 5 literally has Spartan IVs running down a mountain slope at or faster than this, dancing over their foes as they slaughter them and pull them out of vehicles.

winter vessel
#

Ah one of two openings in H5 storyline for fireteams

celest dome
sour hornet
#

That's lore accurate though

sour hornet

#

dapper gyro
celest dome
#

Isn't it a Multilaser ?

sour hornet
#

even though shuriken guns are made to be able to kill space marines

#

Its a multilaser

#

A lascannon would have blown his torso open

dapper gyro
sour hornet
#

especially a twin-linked one

celest dome
#

Often at least

sour hornet
#

Astartes is a SM animation

#

it follows bolterporn rules

#

whatever allows spehss muhrines to aura farm the hardest is canon

dapper gyro
#

Well, in the books, some shits are funny.

dapper gyro
#

Like, a SM reloaded his bolter in half a second. The speed to do it with the mass of the gun and mag itself would tear the gun apart.

dapper gyro
#

And they have to use hand rail to support with their hand on top... realistically the hand rail would collapse and the SMs fall face first to the floor.

alas poor daemons

somehow you've been treated better in the 40k edition where you literally are not getting a codex

I always thought of basically having an Eye of the Emperor basically become the RE4 salesman

#

Mainly because it's funny to imagine this behemoth of a man casually selling weapons as a cover job/hobby

Had an idea of a story that basically takes place in a chaotic hellscape planet where every faction is there in some form

A) Daemons are constantly nibbling at the edges of your mind

Very powerful Psykers can drive them away

#

But 99.99% of them basically have a bunch of voices telling you that

#

"Yeah burning down that random guardsman would be funny."

sacred ginkgo
#

Powerful psykers can do literally whatever they want they have no consistent scale of power whatsoever

opaque coyote
#

B) If you let your guard down. You get possessed by daemons

#

And... That usually ends with disaster

opaque coyote
#

The Psyker spells and such are more about controlling the power

Is that mean Chaos psyker simply have no limits? Because they're already one of them

Lacking the common sense to consider the promises of infinite power suspicious

opaque coyote

#

opaque coyote
queen laurel
#

Because of the imperium's rather one thing of them to just stay brutal big soldiers they forgot to teach them how to be actually smart

opaque coyote
#

"No, the voices whispering to you are NOT nice. Don't listen to them."

queen laurel
#

so they like the deeper thinking of an actual trained psyker

#

cassia had to went through education to make sure that she brutalize anything near her

stiff laurel
#

What's like Baseline for Ogryn Intelligence. count to 100? Or IOM just don't really cares in generally 😭

opaque coyote
queen laurel
#

or the more common one around that of a child

stiff laurel
#

So basic commands are basic int for ogryns-

opaque coyote
#

Also this is mostly unrelated but they're also severely claustrophobic.

Apparently this is a genetic fear. So trying to fit some in a transport is generally considered ...

difficult

queen laurel
#

Because of the way they grew up in and evolved

#

their brains focus more on survival and stuff

#

Because what's the point of literature when the planet you are in literally kills you

opaque coyote
#

Most of them never get the chance so they're more like Cavemen.

stiff laurel
#

So if we like take IOM out how long could Human can still stand? Can space marines and top tier humans still survives?

opaque coyote
#

I mean humanity has survived before the IoM

#

Probably a long while. Just wouldn't be as cohesive

#

Scattered

stiff laurel
#

like Eldars? or worse-

opaque coyote
#

Better than Eldar

#

Primarily because we don't constantly have our souls sucked by a Chaos god

#

Again, just not a cohesive empire

#

There were some civilizations that looked promising.

The Interex was a human and Xenos alliance that had knowledge of Chaos and how to combat it.

#

Of course, they got genocided by the IoM

#

The IoM kinda massacred any alternatives.

stiff laurel
#

So rn Emperor still somewhat alive but what if some Chaos just like "Yeah I'll kill him" Could all humans immediately get munching by Chaos? I think some humans must go ally with Eldars or maybe Tau? idk

#

I heard ppl hate Tau a lot tho-

opaque coyote
#

If the Emperor dies. The Imperium would probably be split.

A lot of planets probably wouldn't even notice

#

Chaos would 100% have the advantage. But it isn't the end of humanity

#

Nor would it be as fucked as the Eldar

stiff laurel
#

Oh- so you mean like Emperor is like Myth for normal Guardmens?

opaque coyote
#

Most people never even see the Emperor beyond depictions

#

And each planet has a different version of the Imperium mythos

#

For some the Emperor is a sun god

#

A woman

#

A god of life (LMAO)

#

Etc.

stiff laurel
#

What about Space marines? Do they believe that they're like Myth?

opaque coyote
#

The only thing that is consistent is that the Emperor is the one true God

opaque coyote
#

But they generally believe that the Emperor is a God

#

And with them

sacred ginkgo
#

The mythological status of marines largely depends on where you live

#

If you live near a chapter homeworld they’re a fact of life

#

If you live out in some segmentum solar backwater then they might as well be angels

opaque coyote
#

Basically the Imperium's state religion

#

Is very

#

Very inconsistent
