Finally, the crusades become peak
Gaunt's Ghosts caused a riot when they used the Half Life 2 crossbows to kill chaos marines
High velocity superheated rebar
Spacebattles specifically had a field day with "Lol space marines die to medieval crossbows" conclusion
Fascinating stuff
I mean armor piercing tank shells are basically a huge crossbow bolt
They are the same shape
I mean the context of it all is very reasonable, but like a game of telephone the masses just read "IN GG THEY KILL MARINES WITH MEDIEVAL WEAPONS"
And chaos ensued
On a tangent, what the fuck is going on with Midwinter Minis?
Oh, deadass?
the funny part is someone posted that 2nd video here and they were like "what is that dumbass chud up to now"
(he regularly bitches about how his wife left him while painting minis on videos LMAO)
Oh right, the woman he decided to marry and ditched his former fiancee for?
I mean, I could tell you that Youtube prefers negative content. The human brain does
Fall in the line with the rest of 40K nerds...
I think so
either way like its entirely his fault
Yeaaaaaaah
Didn't he cheat on his wife
From what I understood, he was going to marry someone, but then had a thing with an intern and married her instead?
Is this 40k lore or 40yo lore?
Its general chat but cooler
close enough to both lore
^
We get off topic so often but it's cool because we bribe dilara
Also its fun to have Dilara join our discussions
Only mod brave enough to venture down here
Anyway, lunch over. Back to lurking, prolly.
Alrighty, see ya
Sometimes being an angry old hang, sometimes the lore mommy.
It's been nice knowing the two of you
Yes
In space marine chapters that claim to not believe in the emperor's divinity like the ultramarines do they tolerate individuals within their chapter to believe he is a god?
What in the-
Yeah pretty much.
Its a fraternity/monk group
its generally considered "harmless"
Ah okay
Yeah it would be the opposite if its a Chapter that believes in the Emperor's divinity but you are being non-religious about it
it would be considered sussy and chaplain-bonk worthy or prob worse depending on the Chapter
That makes sense lol
Does anyone know of more chapters besides the black templars that follow the ecclesiarchy?
Theres quite a few its just hard to name them all since its very varied
There may also be squads or individuals in any given chapter that worship big e
Thank you
I'm an insane person, don't think to much about it.
Most chapters with templar in name.
Some other notable examples are the Fire Hawk, which later became the Legion of the Damned.
mfw the reclusiarch of the Black Templars does not think Big E is a god
how do you think he hid it that long
as a fucking chaplain lol
Grimaldus doesn't fucking believe
Excuse me
yes explicitly
"The Emperor was immortal and mighty beyond reckoning. But he was no god. Mankind - on its blessed ignorance - worshipped him as one."
Grimaldus is a fucking weirdo
among his chapter, but he's Reclusiarch so......................
Who and why was he made reclusairch
whos going to tell him no at this point
Jfc
Helbrecht and the previous Reclusiarch had ordered it when the previous reclusiarch died
the previous Reclusiarch favored Grimaldus
while Helbrecht went with the flow and picked him
Grimaldus did not want this role lol
God damn
Oh
so his secret is safe, its also not like he doesn't worship the emperor, he just doesn't think he's a God
which is a whole other can of worms
I need to read helsreach
But RN I'm between series waiting to get silent king and void exile. I think I'm probably gonna read oath of damned but honestly I could read helsreach I'm just not sure if I can handle black templar's rn
Cause tbh I do not like them very much
if you do not like black templars I am unsure how much you will enjoy Helsreach
it is very BTy
Helsreach is good but its very "fine" for me
I like the plot in it but its literally just
marines go to place
marines have nice moments with humans
heroic last stand
everyone but the named dude dies
big spoilers wow I know
Yeah lol
Id suggest reading more excerpts from it more than anything else.
Every marine book
Its also a very old book
It's ok I watched the movie
Why i dont read marines
well
Helsreach is very generic
its just good bcs Grimaldus is good imo
excellent disection of like, the brain of a marine lol
Could also read soul hunter or master of mankind, or our martyrd lady
I have space wolf books but I'm waiting till I finish space sharks and dawn of fire
The Helsreach animation is very well-made for an adaptation, too
Yeahhh
and its for budgetary reasons to hide details but man lol
What's master of mankind about
the filter's very extreme, but yeah i understand it when it's because it uses SFM
and its also pre-Joazzz models so they're pretty low quality too
warhammer fans when confronted with actually reading warhammer
The master of mankind
Ok yeah but there's a lot he does
Mostly him mastering mankind
(not really)
he never really gets a grasp on it
spoiler
So like unification wars? Or like great crusade
Horus heresy
book 41 in the series, in fact
Okay so its AI but its also a very good synopsis
Thank you
Lol no problem
All you had to say was webway war
ABOMINABLE INTELLIGENCE!!!!
this AI search function is great when it isnt actually harmful misinformation
Too bad its that 90% of the time
Anyways soul hunter is about Talos right?
Yeah it is
its the first book in the series
The Night Lords series is a trilogy of Black Library novels written by Aaron Dembski-Bowden. The series follows Talos, a member of First Claw, 10th Company, Night Lords Legion. The series is told across three novels, two short stories, and an audio drama.
"Soul Hunter," the first novel in the Night Lords trilogy by Aaron Dembski-Bowden, follows a warband of Night Lords Space Marines, led by the enigmatic Talos, as they navigate the grimdark universe of Warhammer 40,000. The story explores their struggles for survival and vengeance against the Imperium, while also delving into the complex and conflicted nature of the Night Lords, who are torn between their loyalty to their fallen Primarch, Konrad Curze, and the allure of Chaos.
Alright
I listed out all the books to a buddy of mine whos deepest knowledge of 40k is watching a few shorts and videos about it too choose. Listed out all the names and he chose oaths of damnation
Didnt think Curze was still alive?
You can be loyal to a deadman
Or are these older
He's dead af
Kurze is alive the jewel in his crown was a soulstone and the ynnari are going to resurrect his body
Kurze is very dead. And was a dumb, self-defeating sadomasochist who failed at everything.
Like most chaos characters
There are well-written Chaos characters. Kurze is one of them. He is a well written complete failure of a person
Curze is indecisive. He is torn between being loyal and freedom. He welcomed his own end.
In a way, he was very correct to do so. His head was his biggest problem, and he wanted it removed.
kurze is a theater kid who missed his calling and was forced into becoming a primarch
If only wet, pathetic little noodly Angron was dead
But I will give him a single, solitary point for also just not counting himself exempt from his own idea of justice.
It doesn't have that for most of his early life, his visons were accurate and he had little to no medium to break out of it, hence he believed that his vision can't be changed.
his idea of justice is literally drama play level
like socrates killing himself to prove a point
When he realized that his visions were possibilities and not settled, well, it was too late to change.
Even his first captain was able to poke holes in his reasoning
He flays a girl alive for trying to commit suicide so that checks out lol
His concept and ideals.
i like how the NL trilogy shows how ridiculous his demands were and how he completely failed his legion
"It was the only way"
"What other way did you try? Why didn't all your bros who uplifted their worlds not have to do any of this?"
kurze knew how fucked his legion was and decided to kill himself instead of doing anything about it
almost every traitor legion has the abusive dad
A legion of petty bitches from the king petty bitch, and I say that as an Iron Warriors simp
as an iron hands stan, i prefer no primarch over a bad one
i will claim you sigsen
RG has very bad time between primarch and the initial terran troops, but you see, with proper treatment, despite from an introvert like Corax, they sorted it out rather peacefully.
I still love that Perturabo quit the Siege if Terra while he and everyone else was convinced his side was going to win just because every other Legion and their Primarchs had gone so far off the rails that he hated them even more than the Emperor and the Loyalists.
Well that and they were slaughtering themselves by telling him to take his plans and shove em up his ass and then doing random shit.
perturabo is relatable even if he's evil
Correct. He's the epitome of overworked, underpaid, and done with this shit.
Also Iron Warriors trick daemons into daemon engines just so they can force them to go play Find the Minefield
And I think that's hilarious
Is he still alive?
Yeah he is.
You never see the undivided primarchs anymore
No traitor primarch is dead minus like Horus and one of the Alpharius twins.
Iron Warriors dont have their own unique god on tabletop
or their own army list
so they arent worthy of note to them
you mean he just became another astartes
nah hes a daemon prince
Also Perturabo felt even more disrespected when Horus was all “dude break up your legion and parcel them out to help other traitors assault the walls”
the brother i mean
Yeah but undivided is honestly really interesting cause theres a bunch of freedom of creativity there
We dont really know.
Kurze too we just mentioned how he dead af
Ngl
hes so forgettable that i legit just let him slip my mind
lol
Lol
just like his legion
aint NO way that alpharius dies it's the alpha legion
Perturabo? Yeah, and he's supposedly a daemon prince now, which I don't think fits with his HH lore, but I wanna see a Primarch-scale Obliterator
got nothing to their name but a almost 2 decade old book series
I mean his legion is kinda funny, its just batman but if he had no morals
Hes a daemon prince fully, and hes always been a hypocrite, it fits him.
They show up frequently in other people's books
Dilara will never talk of introvert primarches....
I mean with the Forge Demon,..character,,,being a thing now, I can see that happening.
Forgot his name
Vashtorr
Vashhtor
slaanesh
he regularly makes deals with him
Vashtorr the Arkifane
There we go
Vashtorr's one of the best additions to Chaos period
i like saying random names to confuse people
Vashhtor and perty do not get along though
Anything to do with Obliterators is great by me
Well they kinda do
but its a business relationship
I mean if that ONE picture from Horus Heresy means anything, GW looks set to expand to full 8 gods of Chaos
Instead of just the current 4
Vashtorr doesnt lie and tells you straight up how his deal is gonna hurt you if you want to agree to it
Yeah it's very transactional
i get 1000 demon engines
you get the key to the 40k plot
^
how many of the super treasures does he own now
him not lying and still fucking you over while you 100% know this is the most realistic part ngl
its like dumbasses that go to casinos
another plot device that will go nowhere
accurate
*decades
cant wait for the mcguffin to do jackshit
the macguffin to kill all macguffin
still not as powerful as some random device that necrons have mentioned in a short story
Just like how that anathama isn't gonna do shit either
the one that killed horus?
Yes!
idk what more it can do
it's literally meant to kill horus
he's the key word activation
Brother it got remade in the current 40k
huh?
you sure it's not another anathema
there were multiple afaik
it was a whole technology
The shards of the one that Erebus broke got regathered and forged into a blade dubbed color
:)
I don't blame anybody for not knowing about it given it's a fucking dawn of fire plotline
they has to reuse the same one that nearly killed horus instead of another anathema they found
the sword that is literally only meant to kill a primarch who has died
Pretty sure the one that killed Horus was the only one left
or they needed a less powerful 40k era anathema
it doesn't even get used?
Not yet
who is it meant to kill

there will literally be a point in time where not a single item referenced in the first HH trilogy is not slandered by 40k
Good
80% of HH content can be safely ingored and not matter at all
probably closer to 90%
More like 95%
lol
almost nothing in the novels is important
the most important lore to modern 40k is in the black books
mostly organizational or very dry lore
The Rulebooks for Heresy are far more important lore wise
as is almost always the case for warhammer
Each mcguffin in 40k can at most cost tree fiddy from how many there are
Panacea that can cure everything stolen by the Dark Eldar who probably didn't need it just for laughs
Engine that can make any thought or wish real used to what again, make a second Comorragh or something
Yeah it worns on the consensus most 40k stories do
aka just make up shit for a story, doesnt matter as long as its a fun read
Yea it's fine. I don't have any numbers but it feels like it happens a few times too often is all
Imagine they just continually prank one serf
And the serf is just annoyed
heavy armored breathing
serf grumbles knowing that he's right behind him
Eg. infinite and the divine
But it works really well there
Are there still some moebian 6th members that are alive and fighting nurgle?
I mean that didn't follow wolfer
They're all dead as per the Martyr Skulls
Oh I thought there were definitely some still alive
😔
with the magic of homebrew you can still have some
With the magic of homebrew
you can make anything more interesting!
Just mix it with your product and boom!
explosion killed 10 people
THATS THE POINT, THEY DO
So, I need some info
First person to answer gets the satisfaction of satisfying my curiosity
The Zealot class
When you channel that idol, it is emitting some sort of "holy" looking energy. Now, afaik, there isn't some form of holy light in the 40k verse. Not something like they have in say, World of Warcraft or whatever.
What could the energy/light being emitted from the idol be then? Is it some kind of device that stores warp energy and emitting it? Or is there some other form of energy that is somehow only dangerous to Chaos-tainted beings?
what do you mean faith is an actual thing
It looks different from the warp energy the Psyker uses
in 40k faith is an actual power
Wait what
to the emperor it's a thing
I thought it was all just psyker/psychic based stuff channeling warp energy
There are powers outside of that in 40K
ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo WHAT
Belief is a tangible thing in 40K and since many people believe in the emperor he can give powers
you know about the sisters of battle?
I've only heard of them. I don't really know about them outside of mentions of the repentia thing and Argenta
Something big is about to happen in the grim darkness of the far future… https://bit.ly/2zq4POW
Necrons, Imperial Guard, Space Marines and Sisters of Battle clash in this cinematic trailer.

you see how that wound healed?
That's what having faith powers is like in 40K
So
What is that energy then? Like, where does it come from? They have faith in the Emperor. Is just believing he will save you enough to tap into some dimension of energy only accessible to those worshipping him? Or does he somehow feel those with strong faith and skill trying to tap in and he diverts it to them?
Belief
Literally faith
So could faith in anything do the same
what
Why does having faith in the Emperor grant them those holy like powers? Why not faith in some other being?
......
do you know about the chaos gods
He's not considered a God yet right?
He's getting closer to 1 with the amount of people worshipping him
In the grand scheme of the verse, not to the people of the imperium
faith is psychic in nature as well
Yeah, I know about the chaos gods. ALl their followers access power from them via weird warp energy right
AHhhhhh, so it's psychic powers manifesting as shining holy light?
It could be faith magic or it could be just the funny thing having an actual field built in to produce that aura
It's not psychic powers in that way think of it as like faith magic bestowed to by a deity
the psychic powers are naturally born to people and they can access anytime
it's a psychic phenomena but by the way it works it's a bit different yeah
Alright. It was confusing to just have one random person (Zealot) channeling an idol emitting white holy energy and not having seen it anywhere before. So I wasn't sure how it worked or if it was just some gameplay thing
Besides that trailer you sent, I hadn't seen another example.
Even some of the psyker stuff was different from what I thought. Like that white fire
the zealot might just be using tech
is the funniest thing
And is pretending its faith
there's a lot of pieces of tech like that in the imperium
Living saints
That's the other thing I was wondering about. How those worked.
I just assumed they had crazy strong psyker powers or something
a human charged with a bunch of warp energy
Celestine is essentially ap syker now
lol
Yeah basically an ascended person that uses the faith version of the psychic energy of the work produced by people worshipping of the emperor
and the powers manifested like how the psykers in game can turn the warp energy into lightning or a shield or white fire
To an extent yes
though Living Saints cannot suffer from Perils of the warp
They do however feel "sick"
once the warp is gone
or stilled
Are the strong space marine type psykers the same way?
no
Space marine psykers are just psykers
they can still jsut explode
because Perils of the warp
Then how are saints "immune"
though exploding is one of the least awful ways to go
Saints are like daemons
if that makes sense
living saints rather
Celestine is most comparable
to a daemon prince
It's because of their nature of being connected to the warp
So, some humans can become that way then?
well
Very rare
since it literally flows in their very being
its essentialyl becoming a daemon
though Living saints are more flesh then warp energy
while daemon princes are the other way around
where there's like 0 flesh left
and its mostly warp energy
So daemons would be being formed within the warp, existing as warp energy and aren't strong enough to leave on their own or stay in the material realm very long, but a "living saint", being someone who was maybe a strong psyker and of the material plane somehow evolved into this "saint" and because of their initial existence/connection, can stay out here?
I don't have any book knowledge, just random bits i've seen others talk about but never elaborated on. It was the zealot that got me thinking of specifics of the powers
Were they "created" after the emperor died at all? Or are there a set number existing in the verse currently
Set numbers in 40K don't mean Jack shit
Well, I mean more are they able to be created since the emprah is "dead"/reforming or were there like 5 made before he died and that's it until he forms again
none were really created (besides a couple) back when he was still walking about
all that are active in the current 40k have been created in the past 1000 years probably
Okay, so that's gotta mean big E is still pretty coherent then
eehh
Unless turning people into saints is kind of a automatic process
he's an omnipotent being who is not doing so good
It's not far really
Yeah like, not just a bunch of pieces of energy. if he's keeping all these warp ships or whatever guided and can somehow pick people to become these saints, i'd imagine he's at least in some kind of partial, dream like state
Like maybe his vision is constantly blacking out, he's seeing bits and pieces of the imperium all over where his soul is fragmented or some shit.
Well the astronomicon isn't directed by him directly
its like a lighthouse
he's just the battery
Ohhhhh
I was imagining when someone said his soul was shattered, that it was all over the warp/universe. He had some sorta core part that was the first few pieces that drifted back together and from there he was kinda "daisy chaining" his little bit of consciousness through all these fragments to take a look around the imperium and would use the various pieces to like, pump energy into to guide the ships. but that it was more of an automatic thing
but the majority of his energy is taken up keeping the giant hole into the warp shut
which was the webway project
I could read a whole book about him piecing himself together and there'd be sporadic thoughts of his impression of the empire or something
in the recent timeline we've seen him in a slightly more active role but still very much incoherent
he has 'talked' to Guilliman for example
Is that the giant rift splitting human space? or the thing to do with the portal where the chair is or something
an uh, possessed him
this sounds interesting
nah, just a giant hole under the imperial palace
magnus opened it by accident
now the emperor needs to keep it sht
shut
That was supposed to be part of the emperor making his own version of that eldar webway, so they didn't have to deal with the warp right?
Yeah
So, why can't the imperium just fly above the great rift
It surely can't be a giant disk splitting the galaxy in two
We live in three dimensions apparently
Like with all of the imperium's tech and shit, can't they just put a space marine base floating above a rift and make that a safe spot?
It goes up and down
It isn't actually flat
it is 3d
That's a dreadnaught
So like
They probably don't have legs
They're a meat Popsicle now
It's 25 feet tall apparently
The head does not look to scale
Saturnine armour scaling is ass
also dreadnought heads are not the person's head who's operating the dread
it's just an array of sensors etc to 'ground' the operator better to the environment they're in
the head is not the marines head

Some super Grav cannon I forgot the name of. eradication beamer/inversion beamer
Extremely rough draft of some fan lore im making for the Moebian 155th Armoured Regiment
The sound of the main canon firing on a Leman Russ is a rather booming sight to behold, the earth shakes and trembles under her majesty. But to her crewmen, its just another day, as is such for the Moebian 155th “Steel Crawlers”, for them, another shot is the celebration of a slow grind to victory, their reputation was that of legend amongst Armoured Regiments far and wide for their unbelievably low casualty rate to victory ratio. Beasts of metal stalk the Moebian domain during the Fringe War, always coming home with little to no less of what they deployed with, their captain, Captain Maxine Payne has and always will credit the God Emperor for their ability to keep together constantly and for their many years of service to Him on Terra. Although Admittedly the Captain keeps to herself regularly to keep a log of the ammunition used, the men lost and the damage to her Regiment’s beloved war-machines.
@gloomy lodge
Thought youd like to see
“Its no wonder why she does so” said Lieutenant Smitheriner, sipping down his water ration “i mean, she is so particular-!” Sergeant Raggathar interrupted his superior “yeah well she takes care of us and keeps us alive yeah? Kind of hard to do without calculating the battle yeah?” The Sergeant then took a sip of his water Ration and smirked to himself, thinking he won. “No plans make it during combat!, you know this true Alan!” Said the Lieutenant, now patting the sergeant on his shoulder pad “besides, we got this, “Valor and Pride”” Smitheriner now smiled at the sergeant “you’re right sir, we do have eachother during combat, lets get a move on for the rest of the crew yeah?” The sergeant chugged his water ration down and reached for his helmet, slipping it on his head and fastening the chin strap. The Lieutenant followed behind, adjusting his leather skull cap and his headset, he had already begun to bark orders into the mouthpiece, ordering the crews to start up their tanks and to deconstruct the Hand made camp to set off on a 14 mile crawl through the jungles of Messelina Gloriana.
Ever wondered why the Sisters Repentia dress in skimpy leather rags? That's right! It's to show their devotion to the Emperor. Anyone who suggests any other, more untoward reasons shall be BLAMed.
Carole and Anna man the fort while I recover from a tooth extraction, pls be kind to them.

Real
Repentia is one of the best unit of the SoB.
So if you want to make a good Sob list, you have to give up some of your soul.
what soul?
you gave that up when you picked up warhammer
Have you bitten the bullet & started to collect the toys yet? Pro tip the 30k auxilia leman Russ is way cooler than the 40K
You can stick sponsons on it from the 40K kit or from Etsy
The marine is inside a life support coffin. Lol there's plenty of room for that. Especially if they got Lt Dan'd
Based
Does anyone know of any good Warhammer 40k or Darktide centered role-playing servers?
I'm a writer and I haven't had a good rp in years
Ya here on 40K-lore-chat I pretend 2 b a worthwhile human being
You can try Ordo Discordia, there's ttrpg games posted fairly regularly
You do ? Damn that's some severe skill issues on your part
I can feel the burn all the way over here
even the flames of Tzeentch can not match the heat of this

https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Combi-weapon
All of the combi bolt gun + plasma are so bad
Combi-weapons are guns used by Imperial and Chaos armies, and are essentially two weapons combined into one. There are two ways of designating them, either Combi-(weapon) or Bolter-(weapon).[1] Combinations of meele weapons with ranged weapons can sometimes be referred to as combi-.
Like why is the magazine going into the plasma part
Not current in lore iirc
Is it a giant straight line up to the actual bolt gun?
I hope not. It's atrocious. The bullpup design is literally not even aligned with the barrel lmao
Not how it’s designed it got retcon’d lol
Early lore is so bad
Tbf
This is just an artist fucking up
It’s meant to just be a normal bullpup
But the mini was sculpted to have that gap bcs the technology wasn’t there back then
But the actual intent was for it to be a normal bullpup
Lol
Even other plasma bolter designs are just nonsensical
The actual models actually put the bolter on the bottom for the mag to actually go into the right place and not have this nonsensical magazine shape
Or a magazine just going through the coils of a plasma gun
This one is fine lol
tbf this one is fine design wise
its literally a bolter strapped
to a plasma gun lol
like they're side by side
Yeah a lot are bad though
Only if you shoot lefthanded
Good thing Azreal shoots left handed lol
It’s his personal gun so it’s designed for him
That makes reloading awkward
Then again, I guess he has flying baby meat to do that for him
Tbh
He might just hand it to his watcher lol
He’s always got a watcher of the dark following him around
wolf question about chaos marines
Physically speaking you know just disregarding the mutations and all that
They are first born right?
like the creation process and recruitment and stuff
Almost entirely. Though by now, it wouldn't surprise me if we start seeing Chaos Primaris
I love watchers
Unknowable mystery creatures who hold countless secrets
They will also do random chores
Just from converts
Considering they steal geneseed too yeah
I imagine what's happening is ||games workshop is hard at work designing the molds and we'll see primaris csm when they're done|| lol
It's the tech for the Rubicon and the Primaris organs they largely lack, and I'm sure loyalists have orders to vaporize that stuff the second they're at risk of capture
Well bile had a whole ass fulgrim for a while iirc
almost all of them
there's a few chaos primaris now via falling and such
but the vast majority are firstborn
and will always be firstborn
My assumption is chaos primaris will be some new minor unit
yeah
no CSM fan wants primaris in their soup
Marines have always zealously protected their geneseed anyway
it won't be an army wide change
some want them in their soup
lol
But not like
"some"
to replace the soup

Arks of Omen Angron has a bunch of primaris fall to khorne
though ultimately a drop
in the bucket
yeah but they balance out being first born by again mutations and chaos shenanigans
Being all chaosy gives you tons of avenues for enhanced marines analagous to primaris anyway
I could see you being able to take like a chaos primaris warband unit as part of your army
Its only like 410xx so not that much time for chapters to go rogue
I do expect some of them to want them in the soup as like seasonings
just something to spice it up
Guitar Noise Marine was peak though
In a goofy way yeah lol
Have they put the mad max fury road guitar guy car in as a unit yet
I liked the somewhat serious rendition of the guitar noise marine
from that one art
Prolly would be in Orkz as a Kult of Speed thing tbh
If orks have music i hope its Rokk music
Yeah between the mad max asthetic being orky and the huge jets of flame
Goff Rokker
I forgot about the goff rokkers!
I forgot the goffs entirely
I cant help but think of My Immortal
the Goff's greatest enemy clan
the Prepz
Tbh, i feel like Guitar Marine should be reshapped into a pseudo-Psyker, where his techniques/spells are melodies
That would address one of the things i find funniest about guitar marine
Which is that the guitar doesnt appear to be a noise weapon its just got a bolter in it
I guess its cabled to like, back speakers
Combi weapone thoughj
Noise weapons usually have speaker grills to yell you to death with
Which again i guess are just on his back
But i like the idea its just a guntar for fun
You know i never thought about it but orks are full of og mad max dna aren't they, the timing lines up
Yep
The farts
He just like me fr
Mortarion drank enough milk and cream just for this fight
i hate guitaars for slaanesh sooooo much lol
obsessed by novelty
lets bust out our 40,000 year old musical instruments
it doesnt fit with the theme lol
it only works in a goofy retro way
when power chords were the most extreme thing people knew
Nah
why bust out some power chords when you can manipulate sound in a much more direct way. how about 66 square waves layered over each other
its just way too retro
just like "what music would your noise marines play", then someone mentions a metal band or something
its like, no dude, they're listening to noise not just music
i'd genuinely mald if this happened
"here's the new chaos marine unit: Chaos Marines but 1 foot taller!"
it already took me a whole ass year to recover from the fact that chaos marines were gonna remain eternally firstborn (and thus unscaled the same way)
the legionaries kit still looks great imo and theyre in decent proportions
and that was only when they just magically re-scaled chaos marines to be primaris-size anyway
so i dont think u gain as much with chaos as primaris did with loyalists
people still have to want to buy that shit
someone explain why a psyker cant kill a space marine
They can, as ever
they 100% can lol
if they do chaos primaris i legitimately would want them to replace the whole line
thank you.
not just be "The Tall Lads Squad"
ya, depends as always on what the story needs
integration-era space marines was utterly ridiculous
"yea heroic scale marines and truescale marines just hang out together lmao"
astartes - the marines pwn that psyker very quickly
secret level - the psyker pwns marines very quickly
psykers also tend to be nerfed down in games so
they're not completely fucking stupid
in both how they backfire and how they kill things lol
Also even in universe
You have psykers of different power scales
Weak psykers can only do measly tricks that cannot harm a Marine
Strong one can probably telepathically rip a Marine in half
(And also assuming this Marine has no additional psychic protection, which is also a thing)
Strong psykers can rip reality in half
Tbf
And are probably utterly insane
They’re already tearing a hole in reality when they use their powers
Damn it I knew someone would akshully that
I’ma tear a hole in ur reality in a minute
What psyker grade do you all think the reject psyker from Darktide is?
Between Wyrdwanes and Primaris, so probably Zeta-Epsilon
do you think we'll get a darktide sequel with Khorne as the lead chaos god instead of nurgle
I hope and dream of it
or just give big expansion with them
i want enemies to run at me saying "BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD"
Darktide 2 isn't needed. Other tide could happen (ideally not before some other setting get stuff).
As for Khorne tide, we could in theory see a Khornate faction working here tbh
I would love other Chaos daemons appearing in Darktide since where one chaos god appears, the others surely follow.
What's a reliable source to see all the grades of psykers
Because I have no idea what those words mean
Lexicanum Assignment
There is also some fan art thing that Dilara could link, I don't have it personally
Surely, no.
But can happen when certain agents want to do their own stuff, like Be'lakor
I am kind of new to 40K lore so I don't know if it is usual. But in the last Path of The Dark Eldar book they have a quote basically saying that whenever one of the dark gods starts doing stuff the others tend to also take advantage of the opportunity to pursue their own agendas.
Is that how it usually is in lore or not really?
It depends on the story the writers want to tell
You will probably realize quickly that Warhammer doesn't have a lot of hard rules, merely suggestions
Fair enough with how big it is
It gives authors and fans more ways to homebrew etc
?
Ohhh I saw that one before, forgor
I'm assuming our psykers in DT are low- or medium-end beta?
Beta is Primaris Psyker level
Yes but also no. They tend to be territorial and a local domain like a hive city will often “belong” to one god
Or a planet or even a system
But yes in general once the veil is thinned and chaos is active somewhere the various powers will tend to trickle in
Chaos gods are a lot like LLMs. They’re not really sentient. They’re self-sustaining vortices of emotions and concepts
So they’ll follow emotional / psychological extremes in their sphere just by nature.
Or rather those extremes in human souls and the vortices that suck them up will mutually attract
And the veil will thin betwixt them
On a basic level there are in fact no gods in the warp. The chaos gods are us — our feelings, our thoughts.
Ours because humans are the most numerous sentient souls in the galaxy.
Their “training data” are human thoughts, human passions.
Their substance is souls. Their motive force is emotion.
So hypothetically if the situation in Atoma gets worse and the veil degrades, would the chaos gods fight over it or is it basically already Nurgle's? I am coping a bit since I think it would be fun for Tzeentch cult enemies to exist in game that fight both us and the normal enemies.
P.S. I do love the description of the chaos gods as LLMs.
Fun fact
Xenomorphs hate other xenomorphs that are a different color from them
The mf HR Giger freaky ahh aliens can't escape racism

Nurgle seems to have staked a claim but the other chaos gods will try to get their own piece as well potentially
What's even funnier is that apparently to the human eye they both look black
So if a human was there for whatever reason. They'd just see a bunch of aliens fighting each other
The red color is what they see
(and also for convenience)
All Xenos are the same in the eyes of mankind
Nah you see
You see
You got to be accurately racist
To know exactly what slur you should use
Well, what's the proper slur?
The Imperium should invest in studying Xenos cultures, not for any tactical advantages. They should do it just to accurately call different Xenos species the correct slurs.
As far as seems the case, when one god gets a foothold, it tries to foster emotions that will feed it
In a positive feedback loop
I believe there is lore about Guardsmen who've been fighting Drukhari long enough to pick up some of their language
It’s NOT RACISM if it’s a different species, never mind an entirely different origin of life smdh.
The alien genocide thing otoh is alien racism lmao
That was quite the era in aliens lore. Sustained by dark horse comics
That's hilarious. Were the Drukhari suprised that they learned some of the language?
(also Drukhari my beloved 🥰 )
Sadly it doesn't say
But I'm sure they were, Eldar Gits always, always underestimate 'Umies
Remember:
Human rights don't apply if they're not human
Is it really underestimating if you know you are the best?
This post is brought to you by the tortured chair
Human rights don't apply
if they're not human
FTFY
They especially don't apply if they're not human
it's nurgles, hive cities have the nurgle stamp of approval
(never mind the fact that you physically cannot add slaneesh demons without having to censor them)
Slaneesh is overrated anyways, I want fucked up bird people.
Add the Tzaangors Fatshark or you are cowards
(It would be cool to fight genestealer cultists since they keep referencing them in dialogue)
i don't see them putting any tzeentch stuff
Writing tzeentch is always a challenge
nurgle made the most sense
khorne too had they gone with khorne to begin with
nurgle being involved makes a conflict difficult to develop inside a game like this
I feel like it would make a little bit of sense to have Tzeentch pop up just because he is antagonistic to Nurgle.
I don't know how you would add them to the game through.
genestealer cults are the easiest to add
Nurgle always gets that guttural feeling that's great since everyone loves killing zombies and stuff
I'd imagine Khorne to just be a doom clone tbh
Also since Tzeentch enemies would probably be annoying as hell.
Nurgle I feel like is amazing for a horde shooter
"they just show up"
The only correct take here
yeah that doesnt sound like tzeentch
the other chaos gods are just not as interesting
If you really wanted to do Khorne you couldnt really have stuff like snipers
wrong
That's what he wants you to think
I want playable Genestealers!
For this specific context yeah
Admonition was a Tzeentch cult the whole time pretending to be a nurgle cult or some other braindead scheme.
Yeah.
that's what i know cause tzeentch lives in books, i live in reality
if you want tzeentch go play SM2
me > his dumbass
50000 Tzaangollian Tzaangors
It's the ultimate ruse to make you think he's only fiction
Siege mode in a nutshell
the most interesting chaos god is unfortunately slaanesh
unfortunately because you cant do shit with him without getting an adult rating
Fighting Khorne would just be fighting hordes of ragers
yeah
it literally has nothing to do with rating
slaanesh is body horror hellraiser shit
nurgle just works better for games like this
who said anything about this context
?
But yeah nurgle is the only one who makes since in this game
We are, right now
can i even post slaanesh art without getting banned?
Slaanesh also has an implicitely sexual side
are you gonna post porn lol
he's the literal god of excess
Okay?
So it would be possible
excess isnt sex
I mean it can be
I can be anything
Sex is like 000.1% of it
what caused the fall of the aeldar?
Eldar murdering each other
and fucked up rituals
not sex lol
yeah
i swear to god
Have you like
why do you think they're the most associated with slaanesh?
read a book regarding what their Fall was actually like, and not "murderfuck" internet memes
They arent...?
what
Slaanesh ritual
Sex was a part of it, just really fucked up sex that included a lot of other things
?
True excess tbh
what ragebait
It barely kinda is
Slaanesh is body horror first and foremost
It's mostly not sex
It's a ton of other shit like turning people into instruments
Hedonism is not just sex
But yeah I agree the murderfucking part is very much exagerated, but its only a part of it
AI summary
yeah they were klling eachother
Sex is probably horribly boring to slaneeshi folks
Hedonism isnt sex
Normal sex yeah
hedonism is partaking way too much in shit you enjoy
not normal sex
^
oh my god
To Dilara
Sex was a part of it, just not by itself.
Just sex is so one dimensional and boring to an otherwise nuanced and interesting chaos god
it blocked me from saying it
Hedonism is enjoying expensive, high luxury foods for the weird specific texture a 200 dollar meal has
Excess is also just searching constantly for new pleasures
^
its why a lot of slaanesh art is just torture/people being ripped apart
Eventually you run out of kinks
or piercings, flesh warping, etc
Hedonism is buying paintings that have a weird artstyle
Especially after you’ve lived for 6000 years
Read the circles of slaanesh
99% of it isn't sex
I don't think there's even a ring for sex
Hedonism is just enjoying stuff way too much to the point that its harmful to you or other people
Like sex had a part in it yeah, but a minor one.
Me when I hedonism too much
Also "pleasure" itself is like a very big rabbithole, people get sensation from a lot of things.
Excess can be dedicating your entire life to painting a the perfect piece while fixating on every single fiber of the painting being correct
I think that's the best way to put it. It wasnt sex, but pleasure in general.
It can also be sex and drugs, but it can be practially anything which makes Slaneesh interesting
Which does include sex as well as many many other things
It's the highs and lows that you become addicted to
Like being obsessed with sad dramas
Yeah people just got a warped/limited understanding of the word because it makes us instantly think of sex/intercourse when its many things.
Like you sitting down to eat chips and watch TV is a pleasurable act for example lol
Slaanesh is about going hardcore with it
Someone pull up that dressmaker
like say you dont like that anymore, you want to wire yourself to your tv, feel the waves, the static, let it pierce your flesh, etc
https://whfb.lexicanum.com/wiki/Circles_of_Seduction
Like, there's sex, yes, but that's really only one facet
The Six Circles of Seduction make up the kingdom of Slaanesh in the Realm of Chaos. [1a]
They are arranged in rings around the Palace of Pleasure and some consider each a paradise but none are exactly what it seems - but rather a deadly trap. To reach the Palace, a visiting soul or Daemon must have the strength of will to pass through each of th...
I need to snort the tears of a dead race while doing backflips, it’s the only way I can feel anymore
Yeah like murdering an entire town so they dont bother you while you watch it
Its incredibly excessive
And that's kinda what its about
Slaneesh is the god of being extra
Okay but no one is going to interrupt my lord of the rings marathon
I need to sleep forever and dream of a good life while my current life rots away
Sounds more nurgle
Could be depending
Choas gods overlap sometimes
Would excessively scheming empower Slaneesh, Tzeentch, or both?
Don’t get me started in those choas gods
It depends.
Both
Also neither
the rulebook establishes it can overlap
And one of them
For exemple Khorne and Slaanesh hate eachother, but they both enjoy killing a lot of people
Chaos undivided moment
people find pleasure from a lot of things, but people just assume pleasure = you know, sex
The codex approves
when people literally derrive pleasure from like
The how and the why is different
Depends on what you're leaning into: if it's just scheming for the sake of it, Tzeentch. If it's trying to perfect the art of scheming, Slaanesh
people derive pleasure from a job well done, eating, ect.
Real pleasure
Shows how dull most people are, would only be fun as a torture plaything for a bit
If you wanna know how slaneesh is, it’s just drukhari but even worse
In Asurmen, I recall some pre-fall Eldar enjoying being bled almost to death and then taking a ton of drugs
They birthed him/her after all
Slaneesh is when I waste an entire day playing Darktide
I kinda want to try one of those head massagers tbh
real
“Head” massagers?
Slaanesh is when I waste way too much time trying to perfect something that doesn't matter
Exactly
Peak slaanesh to me is still the hedonites range in AoS tbh
GW captures literally every aspect of slaanesh with it
the 300 Persian aesthetic is amazing
wallah the iranians have always been perverts
gluttos's mini is peak
Play Fear and Hunger, a pixel game, if you want some body horror in visual rpg game.
It is very Slaneesh ish.
I love the short story where Glutos finds a barrel of Kingsblood wine that turns people into Ghouls and is like "This stuffs fucking hilarious" and just starts feeding it to people and watching them go feral
I wonder how those big guys pulling the carriage feel about their jobs
that dude really wanted it to be about sex huh
Tbf its an easy way to understand a part of Slaanesh, even if superficially
dude i've gotta buy one of those big mutants
It's a part, also the most boring part to me
Same
unless it's some event horizon shit and they're really into it
me when blissbarb archers
thank you GW for that lore that you have not mentioned ever since their launch

Never heard of em and now I'm curious
It's not a good slaanesh model unless there's a crab claw
pretty basic looking slaaneshi archers but they use poisoned arrow that uh
the poison does uh
BLISS
i've got this idea to replace this ogor with one of em
cause i already stole the dwarf for my EC
Could be an interesting idea, especially if they leaned more into a Cupid/Eros motif with them
its def meant to be like a fucked up cupid thing going on with them
flavor wise
even if visually they're Hedonites with bows that are scantily clad
The funny part of their lore is that they use bows because their commanders forbid them from melee combat, but when their commanders aren't looking they use their daggers to shank their downed enemies
Like, they could take a page out of GSCs and have them target regular travelers of a city, that make them particularly horny. Then they do the do and have a gross Slaaneshi mutant that starts rampaging
thats even funnier ngl
Okay yeah that's pretty funny
tbf the dose of the poison on the arrows is meant to just kill the person with pleasure
which is, some wild fucking lore lol
I think of the 4 AoS mono god ranges Hedonites are my favorite
Yea Hedonites are peak
These two for me are just so peak
oh the twins are great
tbh my only real complaint is I wish that the Hedonites Lord
was in the same style as the Myrmidesh/Symbresh
or they leaned more into the like, scantily clad thing
It feels like they couldn't pick
That's fair and kinda funny, but it could be cool for them to expand upon the idea a bit. Like maybe they target those that want to fall in love with someone or are in love with a particular someone?

Its up to GW if they want to ever develop on that bit again
but that would be interesting
Would not surprise me if they brought back this Underworlds Character as an HQ for the Myrmidesh
but like my thing with these 2 nerds is either go all the way or don't with the armor tbh, no halvsies, it can be the same like sexy armor that some of the hedonites have in lore. But going inbetween the more exposed/armored thing just feels eh to me
that would be so cool tbh
Question: are there any space marine chapters that take on a similar role of their 80s counterparts, where they were basically just police?
Minotaurs basically exist as a beat stick to enforce the high lords and the administratums authority
the red hunters work heavily with the inqusition, the crimson fists also work heavily with the inqusition
I see I see, thank ya!
all 3 of them can be seen as "enforcing" the law to an extent
*duardin
see poeple use him as any foothero
Depends on what disgusting
Horrid
Stupid
Smelly
Braindented
Xenos they are
well he's a ratling now
