of course it wouldn't exist without humans, the material universe still would though
boy i sure am glad science meets humanity's desires such as our desire for...
... coulomb's law?
didn't know that was a demand
Tbf the Light is entropy while the darkness is the lack of entropy
isnt it the other way around in destiny
yeah
other settings have it in reverse i think
but the Light/the Traveller is when good and orderly stuff happens
oh im thinking about final fantasy
And the dark?
it meets our desire to adapt the world around us as we see fit. fire was made to cook food, even though fire exists without our consent naturally
the darkness is the lack of chaos
trying to reach a single final "state"
so to speak
How people interepret that state varies
nature does not care what we do with it. it simply exists
the light and dark are not inherently good or evil
the darkness however is easy to exploit
since the light as a power can only be given
while you can just take the darkness
i couldn't help myself from being bad faith, in all seriousness science is important because it prescribes how we can make whatever manipulations we want just like you say
if you're strong enough mentally and physically you can use the darkness
The interpretations for the Light and Dark always fascinated me, but still can take some time to wrap my head around.
Destiny's light and darkness also have Gods(?) maybe behind them
but understanding nature INTRINSICALLY doesn't do that, the simple knowledge of it isn't actually doing anything on its own
though they're non participants
no matter how widespread the knowledge is
or rather the darkness is a non participant, it just watches
yeah and i dont actually hate philosophy i just genuinely find hard core modern philosophy extremely boring
The Light got involved via the traveler
I always associated the divine entities as The Gardener and Winnower in those lore tabs. But that is a bias point of view provided by the Dark
yep
a lot of it seems to be more or less "solved" to the point that modern stuff feels very pedantic at times i agree
thats explictly what unveiling is
it also (might) have been written by the witness
or doctored by it
it's more that it takes a lot of background information to understand what modern philosphers are talking about. frameworks can be very complexe
like i don't really think someone's going to create a new -ism that seriously impacts the world in the way, say, communism did
That was my 2nd theory behind the unveiling after the events of Lightfall.
at least not in any meaningful forecast of the future
the Winnower is funnily enough having the time of their life watching The Guardian
we live in a post modern world baby, words dont mean shit anymore
Though I have long left Destiny 2, if they did incorporate the paracasual entities in the game of both light and dark, that’d be something
Like a physical rep.
Really? Which one I lost track of how many I have now
In my account
Its from Nacre
Winnover is a funny entity, great approach to the game
if you played final shapes campaign to finish you should have it
Did you think you wouldn't hear from me again, after all this? You'd have missed me, I hope—and I would certainly have missed you.
Have no fear. I'm not so easy to be rid of. Now, let me show you: my beloved.
Oh, no, not my sedimentary necrolite, fossilized in time. You've seen that. I speak of that dear and distant expanse of the universe, miraculous in its fullness and its emptiness all at once.
Are you surprised to hear of it?
Yes, I never much cared for the change of rules, but here we are, and there's no use in crying over spilled radiolaria. Besides, at the heart of it all, there was a gift. To me.
That gift is the chance to speak with you. You, and a billion like you.
I am making this offer over and over again, in every tiniest cell and the vastest of civilizations. Let me in. Take what you need. Be at ease. You have no say in the degradation of your telomeres, but in all the interim, the whole world is your sweet silicate shellfish.
You exist because you have been more suited to it than all the others. Steal what you require from another rather than spend the hours to build it yourself. Break foolish rules—why would you love regulation? It serves you to cross lines, and if others needed rules to protect them, then they were not after all worthy of that existence.
Caricatures of villainy are out of style, I hear. Yes. I am no cackling mastermind: I am serious when I say this. It was not the trick of standing upright that lifted you from the dust: it was the mastery of fire, the cooking of cold corpse-meat. That is not any unique faction's province, neither good nor evil. It is simply truth.
This great, beloved cosmos. Always decaying, always finding that same old lovely pattern, despite every candle-flame burning amid the flowers. A billion electrons taking the path of least resistance. In Darkness or in Light, someone is always making my choice.
Be seeing you.```
Philosophy will prolly changed based on the current situation like how some people think AI will lead to some utopia while theres another camp where AI will basically kill us all
oh god
WALL OF TEXT
Okay now I remember. My mind at the time was so preoccupied with finishing the expansion I forgot I got this.
tbh
essentially the "philosophy" of what we consider to be basic morals hasn't changed for at least 1000 years, that being the idea that humans have inherent value and therefore we shouldn't harm them needlessly
its kind of crazy how important this lore is on analyzing the underling philosophy of the darkness
and its on some random ass ship lol
if that is the moral equivalent of a scientific discovery, the applications -- almost entirely political ideas -- are the main question
which are analogous to an engineering problem
But it’s interesting how one aspect of this eternal conflict continues to engage with us. Whereas the one we have been serving since our first resurrection has not directly spoken to us
it's called dehumanizing for a reason. thinking of others as lessers is how some evil shit happens
one doesn't intervene but wants to philosophically spar
the other does intervene but refuses to talk
I think its a funny dichotomy
and engineering 101 is that there is very rarely a single exclusive design that meets the desire
tell that to my hammer
I remember an old friend of mine in Destiny thought these two beings associated with light and dark are sisters.
at least that's how i was taught in the first classes before i transferred from engineering
they existed from the moment of creation, live together in a garden, ect.
engineering is very applied science
also the veiled statues were probably meant to be the winnower at least in one point of development
barely a science even
it's specifically the field of applying science, exactly
Was kinda disappointed with the outcome of that in Final Shape
It was an explanation, ig
translating scientific discoveries into means to manipulate the world
fucking creepy ass statues
Seeing this one move is unsettling. At least the cloak portion of it
i can barely explain the difference between science and technology
i know they're different but it's hard to explain
i like to visualize science as essentially the "source" in the sense of human knowledge, before nature itself there really isn't anything before science
except MAYBE math in SOME scientific contexts
I remember reading this old fic before it was taken down. That shows the Gardener and Winnower. Their game, the Gardener growing tired of the same outcome, the eventual conflict between the two. It concludes with The Winnower tries to amends before the Gardener departs and the W going crazy as she forms the “knives”.
i used to think math is the very essence of the universe translated to human understanding
but high level math is far less concrete than it seems
thats a fun explanation for all the pyramid ships
i think in some contexts it can infer a lot to science,
tbh the pyramid ship architecture even though it got less creepy in Witch Queen
imo looks way better
aesthetically
but like my sister is studying environmental science and she does next to 0 math
that would be more like biology right?
yeah
yeah there's a hierarchy to science in how close you are to math
math
physics
chemistry
biology
sounds about right
The fleet kinda suffered a “more is less” scenario for me. I remember walking those dark halls of the ship buried under Luna. Claustrophobic and you know something is watching you. That sinister feeling of an ancient evil
also still waiting on that yellow element
I don't even play destiny anymore
I just want to see what it is lol
like medicine is far less accurate of a science than physics
Yeah. I ended that toxic relationship after I killed the witness. I’ll chime in and see what they have but now it’s just the literal filler arc.
you wont see a doctor predicting what a broken bone will do in 490 years
red subclass
We'll get to The Nine plotline when we get to it(its going to be another couple fucking years)
Damn I can't believe the LGBT were involved with the fight between light and dark
LOL
I miss Destiny sometimes, they cooked up some cool lore
Yeah they got cool lore
I pity those who will never get to experience the red war like me and many others did
House mogus
That’s gone for good
I recall there being a Destiny 2 TTRPG homebrew in 5e
Neat
It has ammo tracking and shit lol
You can play as other races
which is fun
Even the Vex?
Devil Splicers and house of wolves are so cool
It'll be decayed 🤓
I recall so yeah
Yes
It sounds like Soulbound ngl
Also, Precursors for the win
Def soulbound adjacent vibes
lol
actually
I have the core rulebook for the conversion
one moment
Admech would froth at the mouth with the Devil splicers
oh what the fuck
they made a 2e
goddamn I forgot how much original art they made for this thing
Aksis' swag is impeccable
eat my ass
Wait stop can I watch
I can't eat ass rn I'm listening to spongebob music
Playing as Lucent Hive could be pretty cool
Our ghost had no mercy for us killing those lucent hive ghosts. I was like “damn boy didn’t know you roll like that.”
He got a bit feisty but then again I popped those ghosts like bubble wrap
Now Savathun has a bone to pick with us after that little shindig involving Eris and Oryx. Another god to turn into a gun I guess
My fav fun fact about destiny is that there's a guardian who was killed over 13k years ago and was brought back
which is a funny concept
I once created an OC who was made a guardian just before the astronauts arrived on mars to encounter the traveler.
dying in a prehistoric conflict to fighting aliens and god
Guardian: “unga bunga”. Their ghost: “uh…sure”
i never put much thought into my guardian's fluff, but i always dressed him up as John Guardian in all the default armor
he would always get the top score for costume design
Savathun is funny she can stay she'll be no problem
Or she could do that whisper of the worm trick, like Xol. Man this guy is gonna kill a lot of things, I'm gonna be his gun
I was a prodigal set fanboy for my warlock since I always rocked that helm in D1
He was from Sumeria iirc lol
Bring out the guardian from Birmingham
also i stopped thinking about his fluff because he otherwise wouldve been a New Monarchy Exile
since i'm what you call a New Monarchy Champion
me with FWC 💀
as soon as drifter joined the game I stopped caring about factions
I was a full blown rat with him
Gambit could be so very tedious
I just like the color green. And gambit was a happier alternative than the definition of PAIN (Crucible)
Crucible was also very tedious but at least I got the claymore
Shaxx at least kept my humour up while suffering
New Monarchy>other factions
Wormwood sweeps
wyrmwood trials carry
“What the fuck is that- oh destiny”
Honestly yeah
can't belive it smh
all of you are a bunch of facists, ignore the facist cult like tendancies of my favorite destiny faction
FWC would never plan for a violent overthrow of the last city's consensus

Then they should have had better aesthetic and not looked so goofy
Dead orbit and fwc just looked ugly
That's straight-up just a DC-17 blaster
Dead Orbit looked edgy as fuck lol
sorry @arctic talon but FWC colors look like something i'd see out of a knock off lego set
just black and white
I don't need to look pretty, I simply need to stack up bodies
fair enough
FWC's guns were by far the best on average in both D1 and D2
NM had probably the best overall PVP weapons
they certainly loved their omolons
with the shotgun in D1 and a few other things
Dead Orbit only ever made 1 weapon that was like
worth looking at
which was Hung Jury lol
the rest of Dead Orbits guns could probably be thrown into a blender and literally no one would notice
i remember using this one for a time
yeah that one is nice
oh also fun fact
its a chopped up sniper model
which is really funny
It shares a base model with DARCI
You can never unsee it now
this thing was a literal weaponize my computer
i'll never forget my first exotic weapon
god
the Suros Regime
that thing fucking shreded in D1
still shreds in D2 but not as hard
trading rate of fire for superb damage. the old girl made my experience in crucible a little more tolerable.
what didn't make it tolerable?
damn felwinter shotgun sliders
my first exotic was Red Death lol
a classic
got called a punk ass for using this in Crucible
LOL
NTTE
I got the ornament for Red Death in D2 with bright dust just for old times sake
I do like how it shifted from an extremely selfish gun to a still extremely selfish gun that also now heals allies
i knew a guy who tried to make a case for jade rabbit. he had the most deaths in a crucible match
tbh
the gun just isn't good
like I get why it was made
but the whole "body shots boost damage of next head shot" thing is like
bad
oh yeah. I forgot i also went through an "Old Town Road" phase using this
honestly, not bad in the crucible
and then i think i only ever used two exotic hand cannons in PVP
last word and ace of spades
Tbf
both are def built for PVP lol
last word especially
that thing is unfortunately worthless in PVE
I honestly wish PVP exotics got some sort of boost in PVE so they're not literally worse then legendaries sometimes
yeah. even back in d1 i had no skill in hand cannons. i only did it in honor of Cayde-6 so my Huntress uses it
was always good with auto rifles and pulse rifles
scout rifles were a 50/50 for me
I like pulses and autos in D1
I like sidearms and pulses in 2
Sidearms are fucking hilarious lol
they chew through people like nothing
literal pew pews are a menace
these things were a pain in the ass if you were doing control matches
could barely get a foot into the zone without taking some damage
Can anyone help me come up with a backstory/explanation for a Runtherd that’s somehow ended up as a merc for a RT in dire straits? This is gonna be a tricky character to make work
@queen laurel you got any ideas?
Them adding area denial grenade launcher frames has made it even worse lol
Think witherhoard but a legendary
The burst ones are also insufferable
But they’re entirely utility weapons
They suck at actually killing
yeah, but they can certainly be a nuisance and inch away at your shield and health
Yep
here's a fun one from my experience I remember wasting hours completing the quest to get Khvostov in my hands again. and i still remember "AW Honey! what did they do to you?!" when I got its default appearance. I loathe the eververse shop, but this one instance i decided to pretty her up and got an ornament
I got the ornament for BD
I just waited
Khovosotv is such a fun gun tbh
The richochets
Khvostov became my old reliable in PVE and PVP.
The sound design on the thing is so good tbh
yeah. I do like the lore tab it came with it
Back when I played D2 I had a hilarious PvP build
An angry yeti with a minigun
Titan stasis class with the icefall mantle and sweet business
y'know I'm not even sure if i remember using Stasis class outside of PVE
I used it in pvp when it was broken as shit
Lol
But my preferred subclass is void or Solar
Survivability is nice
I was what they call a typical Nova Bomb Bitch. Ah good ol warlock days
oh man that was a nightmare
You know what I miss?
Obsidian Mind
Like
the void bomb spam in PvP was glorious
what the fuck do you mean solar self damage heals and any solar kill fully heals
Like ????
Combined with Bad Juju?
i like how its just beta warlock helmet but painted black
Me when I toss a grenade at my heat and I'm instantly full HP
- constantly regening from the burn
thank you bungo
Good old obsidian mind
I do miss some of the really jank as shit terrible exotics in D1
the Titan and Warlock one
what's that one alternate arc ability for Titan? the one where you become a literal rocket
ballistic strike?
or do you mean the super
the super my bad
Thundercrash YES. lemme tell you a story. I was doing a control match on vostok, we were neck and neck. and there 4 of us holding zone B. opp team controlled the other two but we had better killers. Anyways, I see this titan coming from Zone A hop in the air and activate thunder crash and most of us were badly hit and the warlocks exhausted their healing rifts. but he must've not had any control over it because he's moving erratically. HE OVERSHOT his impact into Zone B and was nose diving off the map
yeah! he honestly could've taken that win since their kills were worth double the points with both zones but flunked it. I was cry laughing so much from witnessing it. i should've recorded that night
man, crucible was a slough fest for sure, but there were some golden moments in my experience
Make him a traveling runtherd traveling around to know the secrets of true squigs and grot feeding formulas to make super versions of those things but in his path to doing that he got betrayed
I like this idea, maybe he’s shacking up with Humies and the other races of the galaxy to learn their kultur, and to try and figure out how to best herd them
Also he’s in it for the loads of dakka and loot those flash Humies are giving him for it
You want a runtherd to hang out with other guys so that they can learn how to be a pro at enslaving them
Is that what you're saying
I mean kinda lol
It was just an idea
I gotta figure out a reason why he’s content to tolerate the rest of the party
An rt would not let a runtherd hang out with them because it's learning how to enslave things better
Well he doesn’t outright say that, and they aren’t actually with the RT
They are interested in that stuff but they are all about improving their craft and their craft is
Making stronger and tougher squigs and grots
That's what exemplifies a runtherd
This is a ragtag merc team hired by the RT to help deal with all the bullshit going on in their protectorate
And it’s in a region known to sanction xenos mercs in a pinch
Maybe he just wants a chance to test out his gits
And this job gives opportunities to do that against all types of foes, including other orks
You think a runtherd doesn't want to improve those things?
Yeah that’s what I’m saying
A runtherd always wants to improve and make tougher stronger pets
He improves his grots, and then tests out each batch against whatever he’s supposed to be krumpin
And then when his grots inevitably die, he takes what he learned from it and starts with a new group
How’s that sound?
You're just repeating what i said but that the betrayal part
Is removed
Its a solid idea, I’m just making sure I got it right, I’m not sure how I can work in the betrayal bit
Shootaz blood and teeth is literally about an ork
Maybe he’s a blood axe and the mob he was in stabbed him in the back first?
Going on a killing spree because his war boss betrayed him and stole his fancy wig
It could literally be many things
Let's say that he found a good secret and when he was about to do it he got betrayed
There's literally so many ways you could work in the betrayal bit
Would give motivation as to why he isn’t keen on working with the other orks in the system
He got exiled and told that his ideas are stupid
From the experimenting idea, if I really wanted to steal from shootas blood and teef, maybe he had perfected or had gotten close to making “the perfect squig” and his warboss either took it just because, or ate it because he was hungry
More around he had a traveling posy of other runtherds that betrayed him but i guess what can work
This sounds good, I’m also trying to tie a motivation for revenge against the warboss currently leading a waaagh in the system, that’s the only reason I mentioned a warboss
Maybe I’ll just have it so a runtherd from this band stole some trade secret for making supposedly the “perfect” band of grots, and said runtherd now works under this warboss
If it’s better for it to stay about other runtherds
I was more suggesting like this
The runtherd that was going to join your rt had four other runherd following him along
Those four betrayed him
Split up the knowledge between themselves on what they wanted the most
And now one of the quests is to help him out find those for
Like a kind of personal quest for him?
That sounds good
Thanks for the help
It’s gonna be fun having a horde of grots following this guy around and having it be the rest of the party’s problem
No problem anytime
Might make it too enticing for them to just blast apart the runtherd though
Since I’m kinda barely holding together why this ragtag group doesn’t just kill each other
Cause so far we’ve got a space marine scout, a Ordo xenos interrogator, and his lexmechanic, an Aeldari ranger, and this runtherd
It’s a fuckin mess I have no clue how to work out lol
10/10
Honestly 3/4 of that group would've already been Shakey at best
But the runtherd makes things so much worse
I know, on one hand I love that my players are throwing gasoline on the fire, but also I have to put out the fire now
If it really can't work then advise the runtherd to change
Since the Ordos Xeno Interrogator logically would be...
Tolera-
Oka-
...
Not immediately murder the Aeldari Ranger

I want it to work though, because this kinda shit is my favorite dynamic
Fair
Well this particular interrogator is veeeery radical
And maybe a little corrupt
That could work.
If they have a specific vice, the Aeldari can uh
Supply them. As long as it isn't idk sex
To be honest, he might take in interest in how runtherds torment living beings
He really loves his job
I feel like the Ordo Xenos Interrogator and Runtherd would be a weird rival sort of thing
And consequently, really doesn’t like the Aeldari
Like Ghazkgull and Yarrick
But he’s shown himself to work with them in the past if it benefits him
Except the other side appreciates it
A rivalry between them in terms of torture would be interesting
"OI I AIN'T ABOUTZ TO BE UPSTAGED BY A HUMIE!"
"Try your best you disgusting mushroom. I'll get this man talking within two minutes!"
Imagine how fucking horrifying the receiving end of that is
The Aeldari gets "vouched" for by the Marine chapter so the Interrogator, on order of the Inquistor, can't shoot them
Part of some prophecy bullshit
That would be worse for all if the ranger died
I was gonna have the RTs factotum as a part of their contracts state that they can’t kill each other until the job is done
But that could work
He’s not in the party immediately
He’ll be picked up in a battlefield of the party’s choosing as the only survivor of his squad
For some reason I'm kinda imagining him as the straight man throughout this entire situation.
"Aren't I... supposed to kill them brother?"
"Trust me. Be alive long enough and shit gets weird."
"By the Emperor..."
"Yup."
He’s the voice of reason lol
Btw the lexmechanic is 100% xenarite
They joined the Ordo xenos instantly when they heard alien tech was at the function
The Interrogator looks into their room. Sees a bunch of Necron tech
"...I can explain."

He’d be like “tell me how I can use this to kill people faster”
Oh what’s even funnier is if the ranger dies, their backup character is a drukhari to make things even worse
An incubi is a relatively simple thing to explain away though, especially in a RT situation
“Yeah I hired him to kill people for me”
The Space Marine Scout is now wondering if the Emperor is punishing him

The answer is yes
Oh @queen laurel related question (sorry for so many pings) how do I explain to my runtherd player that you practically have to mistreat grots for them to not stab you in the back?
You don't
Here's the thing
How about making your runtherd
Who is going to be an exile anyway and is hated by other orks
Different in that
Like they’re probably gonna try to be be nice to them or some shit, and that’s just not how it works (actually wait, that could be the sort of ideological split that could make them get kicked out)
He treats his grots with respect
I like that, kinda unique
Grots mind instantly explodes at the idea of not being treated like shit for once
You haven't read about this guy?

They’re definitely gonna still cause mischief and shit unless he steps in though, especially if he teaches them he gives a long leash
Not extensively no
I know bits and pieces of his lore
Lemme read about him on Lexi rq
Honestly they’d probably partially hate it with how fucked up Ork society is and how ingrained in them it is
Zodgrod Wartsnagga is one of the most renowned Runtherds in Ork history.
On a weird way, that's kinda how abused kids are
Like they get treated with kindness and they become
Confused
...Christ now I feel bad
But I work with those groups of kids a lot
Thankfully not first hand also
Why did you steer us talking about making an ork character into abused kids
idk
Anyways, kick your grots every once in a while if your bored
They probably did something to deserve it
"OI GIT GET OUTTA THE WAYZ!"
Such as not getting out of the way of my zoggin foot fast enough
Have there been any Orks that like
Talk in a Posh British accent
Usually they're cockney
IK they're technically speaking their own language and it's just for convenience that it's in English for us
But it would be funny to have Posh Orks
i wasn't @'d, but giving them debuffs for not being mistreated will get the point across
Grots but they’re just disciplined like normal unruly children instead of just being beaten
“Oh hey the worst detachments in the game list I wonder what’s on there”
agents of the imperium
agents of the imperium
agents of the imperium
space marines
Genestealer cults
“OI, SNIKGOB! GIVE BACK DA BOSS’ SHOOTA OR YOUR GOING IN ZOGGIN TIME OUT!”
“AN’ YOUR GONNA LOSE YOUR GUBBINZ PRIVILEGES FOR A WEEK TOO!”
Oh hey the Genestealer one is the brood bother one, which literlaly has rules that doesn’t do anything
And, you still take it because the whole army has no killing power

You want the cruelty aspect
Just make it that he gives them a good kick once in a while but
Still treats them relatively speaking by ork standards respect
But in my opinion it's
More interesting to have it be that the runtherd is not cruel
To his grots and squigs
Runtherds could easily just be somewhat strict but not outright malicious to his grots
Berk
Have you read about
Zoggrod wortsnagga
Nadda, I havent
Search up
Zoggrod wortsnagga lexi
Read that over and then come back here
Some bored Orks find the combat drugs supply from a raid of a guardsman base.
"OI BOYZ... I HAZ AN IDEA!"
They create hob-gretchin
They get to experimenting with different combos
For a moment, Im just thinking of a hob-gretchin doing some wild ass fighting combos and taking down a space marine by doing quarter circle back, heavy kick into light punch
I mean that also depending on what drugs are injected
Slaught + Frenzon
My favorite
Also I searched up "combat drugs" on lexicanum
Unsurprisingly approx 60% of the list just had
'Used by the Emperor's Children"
Next to the names

I almost wonder if raiding a supply of Emperor Children drugs then diluting them would work as effective combat drugs
Doesn't even tell wtf it actually does
Just says
"used by the Emperor's children"
Seriously wtf is Sanctus VI?
Idk but it's used by the EC that's for sure
Could've been a cool strategem thing for them to use
Oh it actually does tell the source
"Roll dice and see which drug you use: Fiend of Slaanesh Milk or Sanctus VI? You'll never know!!"
"The drug is extracted from the amniotic control tanks of loyalist Titans. A rare substance, it is available only from tanks whose occupants have been kept alive and tortured then allowed to putrefy. The tank is slowly drained over the warband's victory feasts, with favoured warriors permitted to drink a goblet of the fluid.'
Amniotic control tanks
So the pilot area or elsewhere?
Presumably judging by the rare part and the fact that the occupants are tortured
The pilot
Interesting
It’s from the new codex
Their crusade rules are literally a drug lab
Lol
So the average EC Marine is extremely skilled and extremely hopped up on both Chaos Juice and a cocktail of actual drugs
Yeah that sounds terrifying
Would they even feel pain?
Actually considering they worship Slaanesh they probably get off to that type of shit
Which is terrifying to think about.
You shoot them, armor torn with several bullet holes, and they simply just smile before crushing your head.
I wonder if they'll feel pain properly again if they encounter the emperor child thing.
Probably will feel pain
Exclusively

Hi
Morning coffee chat
Definitely
I need to quickly rant on a random topic: You know how google has its shitty AI overview at the top of search results? They have now added it to the dropdown results below it. So not even that is safe.
We are now on the first steps to Dark Age of Technology
Cuz fuck muscle memory ig

Good morning rejects
Bad evening accepteds
huh there's a 28 years later ARG
based
If only they did half life 3
best we can do is another vr exclusive this time as a prequel to half life 1
- with new bread crumbs vr physics
they are
Hah funny

Yeah I don't trust leaks
what does that mean
this video is has evidence that's kinda circumstantial i suppose but there's way more
The viral marketing for 28 Years Later just took a dark turn. A mysterious website tied to the film has surfaced — and it's revealing CLASSIFIED FILES that hint at the terrifying world awaiting us in the long-awaited sequel to 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later.
In this video, we explore the leaked content from the site, decode hidden messages,...
the youtuber is annoying but there ya go
as jaded as i am about HL3 hype, we do seem to be the closest we've ever been to it actually releasing
but this is valve so it could still be cancelled any moment
it could, yeah
i'm just happy that it will apparently not be VR
After Titanfall 3
I am not gonna hope for anything
If it happens that's great
i thought you'd be more worried about the fact that there's more cancelled half life 3 projects than there are half life games
God hl2 was a good game
valve employees will abandon an entire full fledged game project to work on a 20 minute tech demo
Valve employees will stop making games so they can make more shitty skins to fuel people's gambling addiction
This isnt even a meme too
they had Alyx 95% done once and scrapped it all and re-did it
actual Admech tier shit
that's how you attain greatness
That's how you attain mid

Sounds like typical IT company move

Me but each year with the consistent entries
7 titles is a "Fast and Furious" level kind of funny with Black Ops
lets get to Black Ops X
Biased because it is my culture but I think worth reading :
😅
Between the constant entries and the fact that the previous entries are too expensive and have a RAT problem means I don't really care about anything else coming out. But I guess Black Ops Modern Warfare 15 will eventually be a thing
World At War still being priced at $20 really tells a lot. Activision: "I wanna make a quick buck because i'm a Greedy Fuck"
20 bucks for a fuckin' 20 year old something game is so scummy
I'd rather just sail for it tbh
they price it like they know their recent titles are slop,. So if there is still a substantial portion of the player base who'd want to go back to the old titles, gives em the excuse to continue pricing it at an absurd amount despite its age.
It's so dogshit
definitely for 40K the terrain work is too modern
Could be stone masonry with iron reinforcement, could match somewhat with the Ghost faction thingy
Yeah
Thing they makes me like doubt that
Is the “style”
It’s too angular and wide for the metal stuff
That’s it?
Year of chaos: 50 space marine reveals, 8 chaos reveals combined across 40K and AoS
💀
There’s no fucking shot
We’re not getting a single other chaos battletome this year
Right
right
wait so they're capping year of chaos for aos with
this guy
ok look i like the guy but you're for real?
Oh he’s great
But I don’t like the implication
We’re not getting a single chaos battleline for the rest of 2025
Lol
Grand alliance chaos found dead in a ditch
bro they showered the skaven and slaves attention then with khorne they're like
Fine you get this one guy but don't tell your other compatriots
what about Tzeentch, nurglle, slannesh
Well
That’s normal
GW always gives at least 1 mini
Excluding giant stuff only factions
A character is the easy answer
Waiting for tome
Which is presumably coming 2026 earliest
Well I hope to God it comes
The rest of the chaos factions got shafted this year in AOS
It’s going to be a foot hero or some variety of character imo
Blades of khorne literally needed a refresh the most
Lol
yeah they need that khorgos khul guy
as a really big centerpiece
yeah another one that needs attention would definitely be in death with flesh eaters
they have a lot of old shit
FEC already got a big refresh
If they get one 2 editions in a row that would be cool
that is true
welp year of chaos was definitely weak this year
not the worst mind you but definitely on the weaker side
Year of chaos my chaos bro this is the year of the space wolf
my god the things they have gotten
Maybe they should have tried selling better/j
Unironically the chaos factions are pretty complete in AoS I’d say
But more stuff would always be nice
Anyways if chorfs come out before 2026 I’ll admit I was wrong but until then lol
Lmao
dude i want them so bad
This is good article
I wish I could read
On other news
GW is clearly cheating
When they count Chaos products across multiple incompatible lines
Hey bro the warp is shared among all realities bro
well they didn't call it year of chaos 40k or AOS
AHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHAAHAHAH
AAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
THEY TRIED SO HARD TO GLAZE UP 40K FOR THIS
rip
lumbered off the mortal coil
I've been told that year of Chaos was last year or something
every year is space marine year
i havent seen the arbites killteam models posted yet
they have a lot more variety than i remember
and that's it
i did not remember them having a heavy stubber
that is so cool
and of course it still looks like a shotgun
What happened to the turtle
It doesn't really
no
FYETISH helmet
Dilara banned him from the discord & he wasted away
These are so cool aren’t they
I wish GW hadn’t bungled the Imperial Agents “faction” rollout so badly.
Damn
Can successer chapters have different esthetics and culture than the original chapter but still be considered a successer chapter? Because I’m wanting to make a salamanders homebrew chapter and I want to give them a Viking/spartan esthetic
Yea, see Ultramarines and the Libators and Mortifactors
but why
Also can loyalist chapters have horns and spikes? Or is that a no go?
spikes yea horns probably maybe
As in mutations or decoration?
Decoration
Spikes are sometimes used, but in moderation, and usually on accessories like shackles
As for decorative horns, I don't believe I've seen any used by Loyalists
Oh, and spikes are also on Iron Halos, but idk if they're spikes spikes since they're just supposed to be rays of light
Extensively yes.
One of the best form of Successors are ones that resemble barely anything from their parent Chapter
ala Executioners = Imperial Fists
I see
Mortifactors
Ultramarines
Black templars->fists
"Continue, IDIOTS!"
Me watching 40k server members be like
Oh I just saw this; successor chapters are defined by the genestock they're descended from, not necessarily by aesthetic or culture
Challenge: I just spawned in as a normal human on some IoM-controlled planet, what do I need to do to get killed the fastest?
So if a chapter looks like they have Norse influence, but their gene-seed is derived from Guilliman, Primarch of the Ultramarines, then they're still a successor chapter of the Ultramarines
Way too many factors.

It's not from 40k
This
dang, Canoptek models are big
Yeah it’s just irl ppl being cringe want to murder people who speak different languages
It's from when an American person said it to an Eveque that called for compassion for some peoples
Although I also heard Innocence proves nothing also passed around
Especially recently

"He's right behind me isn't he?" Ahh
oh right, Mindseye was released today, I better check that out
Seriously though
Imagine being some guardsman from some
Backwards planet
Happy to enlist for your planet and the Imperium
...
And then the first fucking thing you see in your deployment is the Canoptek
Followed by an entire legion of fucking robotic skeletons
Rip
You see them fire and see the person next to you disintegrate. They barely managed to scream in agony before the disintegration reached their lungs.
Now the Commissar is shouting at you all to affix bayonets and charge.

...and that's how I would frame an introduction to a 40k book
...
If I ever write one
Also the "intro protagonist" would've died by being made as an example
Even though he was literally just there
The Commissar just shot him randomly to "motivate" his men
He didn't even die to an enemy
It probably would cut to like a "formal" battle report where a regiment was considered to be completely eliminated with "no need for transfers"
Implying that they all died to whatever enemies. In this case, Necrons.
And also that "Due to bodies being unable to be found, compensation will not be given to their kin"
@sly ivy also as a random question
Say you got shot in the head
with a bolt pistol
But the bolt itself was faulty
It didn't explode, but just passed through regularly
Would there be a very very small chance of survival?
Like 0.01%
Laati
A giant size round just tore a hole through your brain
I know. But also people survived crazier shit.
Mostly through luck
Yeah but if we're assuming that it's clean through
Like a proper well place clean head shot
0%
That's what I had in mind, but considering that the commissiar basically just quickly shot him
It could've ""merely"" exposed his brain matter
You said go through
So not a clean shot
Literally through his skull to the other end
Yeah I know. Sorry for moving the goalpost
I'm not mad but just like
You said a bolt around that didn't explode went through someone's brain matter and splash it behind them
I know it's a stupid fucking question, but ironically enough it's just me brainstorming a backstory
And I know you basically just said "no" to a direct shot. So I'm wondering what...
Direction/How exact the headshot would be
When it certainly not the first suggested one
Trye
straight giant bolt round to the head that didn't explode
Cause the Commissar still needs to assume that he's dead
But out of ""luck"" he survived
Luck in quotations because he'd probably have severe brain damage to say the least
But still enough to... "Function". And by function I mean still be able to shoot a gun and follow orders.
Good enough for any guardsman.
He just wouldn't be able to talk.
...or remember a lot of things
Yeah I was thinking of something like this
If it's just that part and it's just a grazing shot
Then yeah he can definitely survive
So I'm thinking that he just shot him. He got knocked out, commissar assumed he's either dead or gonna die from blood loss anyways
And then forced the others to charge against an Ork Horde
Because that's clearly the best way of dealing with them

that can work
He wakes up after the whole fight. Another guardsman from another regiment was tasked with just collecting supplies from the dead.
Offers to bring him back because they always need more men.
Not remembering anything from his past life besides his short guardsman training and low gothic.
He joins in.
...and presumably also gets "proper" treatment to not get his head wound infected. Yadayadayada

Hi laati
But then realizing that ironically enough the head wound makes things difficult. So he just joins.
Help me decide between smth
Listen
The Empire looks cool
The rebel outfit always looked kinda dumb to me
And I get why, they're supposed to be less equipped
Set is old, and now the old tie pilot looks like shit to me
Wookie not cute?
And haven't you watched rogue one?
Tie also doesn't represent the real ship well
Nw I have
Yeah it does look good at that movie
Rogue one rebels the best
And I know that this was retconned to be the Alderaan outfit. But for better or worse, this is what I think of in terms of "rebel" outfit
They are on yavin 4 too, so
Yeah it's just my personal bias
If there is one thing the Nazi's didn't fuck up. It's their fashion.
I like the hoth and endor ones
The Empire is partially based on the Nazis
Obviously
And generally the aesthetic passed to them too
And you have to admit. Evil shit always looks cooler
This also looks good though
Definitely goes back to the Vietcong inspiration
Cuz rogue one
It is literally space vientman
They had a chopper gunner
Yeah it's actually the same for the first 3 movies asw
The Rebels even before Rogue One were inspired by the Vietcong
Grots will see you hit one of them with a neutron laser and go “Holy shit, where did Gorbaz go”
Grots will see you charge headlong into battle and say “Dis git can’t afford a propa buggy!”
Humans will see you hit one of them with a neutron laser and go "Holy shit, where did Bob go?"
Eldar will see you hit them with a neutron laser and go
"Are we written by Gav Thorpe again?"

Grots will see you drive around in your flash trukk and say “Look at ‘im! Too weedy to run places!”
"Orks will see you worship the practices of Karl Marx and be like "LOOK AT DIS GIT, HE'S SLOW AND YET USING RED!""
I still find it fucking funny that the Grots legit just have
A communist party
Read the lexicanum.

Erebussy stabbed horus with his poop knife and gave blud ligma.
Even in death I make cringe.
My honest reaction to that synopsis
And then big red magoo used his galaxy brain to try to like tell emperor that horus was trying to mog. But since he had -1000 aura he did it all sussy.
Real question is how cringe was it when horus tried to do the whip but he actually naenaed
(Into an orbital bombardment button over some planet called lisbon 3 or something )
Say, you're the POTUS and DOD informs you that a war ship from the Imperium is orbiting Earth right now, what would you, as the POTUS, do?
Depends
Does it look like this:
Let's say that's the ship. Would you surrender and give them what they want or try diplomacy with them (probably failed).
Diplomacy will do nothing
Giving them what they want will most likely result in mass servirotization
Not gonna lie, in this scenario, I wouldn't be surprised if nations start fighting against each other to be the first one to establish first contact with them
We're not as united as IoM.
This may end up slightly better, just random people getting kidnapped
You greatly overestimate how united the iom is
Well not random people
They'd take our smartest and sturdiest and leave 95% of us behind
Wouldnt be me
Also serfs
These are fists, they need their pomp
They'd make me a Marine, I'm built different
Are you under 10 yo?
If so you shouldnt be on discord
Listen. If Lion and Lorgar's buddies could get some juicing then so can I
They dont do that no more
Also this all ignoring their confusion at undertaking a pilgrimage to Terra and finding it temporally regressed to the third millennium
Yeah was being generous and ignoring that
And the fact that if the iom showed up, and it was the third millenium
We would have 100 shamans in a trench coat around
And the eternals I mean perpetuals
It'd be like that meme of a time traveler going back to save Christ and He just says, "You shouldn't be here," but instead it's the Fists trying to prevent the development of AI and getting stopped by Big E
@humble shoal https://www.reddit.com/r/40kLore/comments/1gwxx1y/what_type_of_government_would_easily_accept_the/
This is very interesting
I suppose that any nation would "accept" IoM's offer to not be exterminatus'ed.
Exterminatus would not be in the best interests of the imperium
Yeah Exterminatus isn't used to enforce compliance
I mean they would assumedly just install a one world govt
To make administration easier
Imagine being the poor administrati who has to deal with that
Not to mention the earth would probably be considered a non-contributing planet pretty easily
Back to the question, @humble shoal, what would you do as POTUS?
I would resign to not paint a target on my back for any IoM diplomats and let the VP handle this. At least, it's not my problem anymore. weeee. 😂
I would do my job as elected to do
And would probably be assasinated quickly
Or servitorized to send a message
not much the POTUS could do really
and its doubtful any nation would go with what the US opted
and ofc the choices would be submit or die
It would probably be used for resource extraction or turned into an industrialized world tbh
As potus, declaration of war should be done by the house.
It's fine don't worry about it
the war powers act removed that barrier sadly
Bold to assume we have enough bs space resources to be worth that industrialization
congress can only say something after the fact
I can see two path to this:
1. They intercepted that nuke and where ever that nuke launched from get glassed.
2. They get hit from the nuke. Likely survived the blast and called the Astra Militarum to invade and capture the planet.
Neither of which, we win and escape with low casualties.
Smh
Industrialization is more likely then resource extraction tbh
Mostly since they can just dump shit to be made into stuff
And do what?
We have no prebuilt hives
Yeah it goes bad but I'm not willing to join the IoM under any circumstances
Diffrent level of production
Eating your own gun is preferable
Tbh
