I remember a point where they said that Imperium planets could be allowed to be whatever they want

and tbf that is actually true. As long as you don't worship chaos it's fine.

The problem is that, with the tithe, your planet is eventually gonna become a shithole

You're gonna start abusing people to get more resources because the Tithe is within like 10 years, and you're 2 years behind on the quota.

So eventually, every planet is gonna become a shithole because as a planetary governor, whether good or bad, NEEDS resources.

If we ever have a Hive City simulator game.

There should be a challenge to try and be a "moral" Planetary Governor.

Like that should be an achievement

But it should be hard as balls to meet the quota, and the easier and faster ways to get resources would include things like

its hard to actually tell how much is necessitated by the tithe tbh, it was said earlier in this channel (and i have no reason to doubt it) that you can pay your tithe in skilled professionals, which would naturally necessitate a better standard of living

some of it might just be purely High Gothic Culture, as it were, that encourages governors to be as shamelessly gaudy and lavish as possible

theres no such thing as high gothic culture really but its just the thing that describes, to me, the fact that the Space-facing Imperium is very similar to one another even when the average citizen is vastly different

I always thought, that if I ever start writing a 40k fanfic. I would start with just some random dude's story.

Him enlisting in the Imperial Guard, emboldened by the propaganda and his want to support his family.

And then dying in the first engagement.

And then it just goes to the classic intro paragraph.

Then it cuts to another set of characters
