The Old Ones are weird
they're Ladeez, not just Ladz
To be fair, it is a way for them to exercise their right and ritual.
"OI Congratz on Bonecrusha Grogdrinka on the train station! Be surez to respect her!"
Could two handed force swords be a thing?
Yeah
Cool, ty
Everything and any kind of melee weapon can be a power-weapon
its literally just putting 2-3 powernode lines on the striking end of it
Nvm I'm too lazy just go with this

Force swords count as power weapons too?
Whoops misread, but same rules apply here
Gotcha
force-weapons are also just any melee weapon just applied with psychic-multiplying tech and making it hit harder
for force-weapons its like uhhh
that little generator-box-thingy at the bottom of the "hilt" usually
Thx for the info guys
By the way every type of weapon can be a force weapon or power weapon
As already stated
It doesn't matter
Was asking for a homebrew successor I've been working on for a while
Ye there are rules for Force weapons that give the possibility of any normal melee weapon to be made with the Force system
Make it a chainsaw a god damn flail
Force Chain Sword ? I'm not sure if the rule apply like that in OW
If they add psychic inhibitors to the weapon it can definitely work
This is warhammer after all
A psychic eviscerator sounds dope ngl
Just make some hubble glue whatever the fudge
Contraption that you strap into the machine allowing it to be coated in psych power
Force Nunchucks
I could see GW saying that due to the moving part that it doesn't (though Force Flails do exist under current rules)
If they can find a way to power weapon a giant chainsaw
Why not applying psychic power to a giant chainsaw
It usually boil down to how much weight you want to carry.
Had anybody tried combine Force and Power together?
Force Power sword
Technically the Eviscerator is a Power Chain sword.
Problem is that the field is weak.
I assume because it's usually given to Repentia who are literally looking to die
Are you really gonna give cannonfodder valuable equipment?
I guess the reason why Psyker power specifically isn't applied to chain swords is uh
Uhhh
Because fuck you
You're not allowed to have fun
Redundant
Cause it doesn't really need a powerful one
Yeah I mean the power part kinda ruins the point of the chainsword
I mean the chainsword slowly slices through the enemies like a chainsaw
With the power part, you kinda just slice through them like butter.
Anything that can withstand that, a chainsword isn't gonna do any good anyways.
Talking about a theoretical like "fully" powered chainsword btw
Instead of the weak field of the Eviscerator
The cruelty is part of the point
You don't just want to slice through the heretic easily
You want to slowly saw through them while they scream in pain
Because the Imperium isn't exactly the nicest empire
I mean isn't technomancy a thing
its literally redundent
you don't need both
a force weapon cuts just as good if not better
What about in case of needing to conserve mental energy?
Certainly there would be no point in using both at the same time
Its barely any effort to use a force sword in lore
Ah
they're designed to have no real impact mentally
but if you want to like
make it cut even betterer
With Biolighnting, you could have a Psyker be the energy cell for the Power Sword innit
then yeah you're gona have to start excerting some energy
yeah in theory
but force weapons are designed to be like
low stress
you can also like
put in way more effort
and have it like instantly explode someones organs
but yknow

The device is nearly the same. The force ones uses power generated by the user instead of battery.
Or look at it as the force one is the modified power one, rarer because it takes more tech to transform the energy.
i just realized the mechadendrites are also shrugging
yeah its great lol
We're going back to Armageddon
yep
hopefully its as good as nachmund
Crusade nachmund was really good
and had really cool rules
Real question is when the hell is Killteam Typhon coming out
Was revealed 2 months ago and nothing
Meanwhile Space Wolves get revealed and released after like 2 weeks
I want a krieg miniature set and to paint them all in a week in peace
Peak
this gif just keeps growing everytime i see it
Will the uuuh
Will the steel legion be there
Aw
that is not a faction but i respect the choice
it's their home planet
Yeah but they aren't on the cover
Well
Guardsmen
But like
There are so many different parts of guardsmen, so
If I ever make an army, it will be krieg
welcome to being a guard fan
Damn
space marines will always get more attention
what made you choose krieg
I wanna give a shout out to my partner’s black shield! Her deathwatch fleet hangs out closer to the eye of terror and fights a lot of chaos xenos! They also pick up alot more black shields than usual too
I LOVE their aesthetic
What is a black shield?
It’s a space marine who disowns their home chapter/legion to murder xenos full time
Is that allowed
They are interrogated by an inquisitor and pysker to see if their intentions are pure

Titus was forced to go into black shield for a while but they freed him from his duty
Deathwatch is black shield?
A black shield, is in deathwatch
The Deathwatch Black Shields are members of the Adeptus Astartes that are attached to the Deathwatch, the Chamber-Militant of the Ordo Xenos of the Inquisition.[1a]
Yeah
Yeah
Almost like they sell best
Wish they didn't smh smh
Guardsmen more interesting

Do kriegsmen really use shovels? Or is it a meme?
Neither of which is usable in darktide right?
Is shock mace that?
Or axe?
Just knife?
idk go look at their models
Knife
Laspistol and saber huh
Also, eww, fandom
Looks like fandom font
It is just the default font for everything
Does zealot even have a commissar outfit
Or anything officer looking like that
No
Damn
I guess the shovel is in game as a melee cuz memes?
In the same class that gets hellbore
This is so raw
Horse with a gas mask lmao
Is the horse okay
You are finally entering the krieg pipeline
Admit
It
Looks awesome
Commissar outfit with gas mask
Damn
I wish it didn't come to that
Glad they invented horse gas masks
Good
Deserved
All the krieg minis are just
Veteran exclusive weapons smh
Only officers have laspistols
I wanna use it but
Zealot...
I guess I will go for this
Shock maul and laspistol, close enough
Wish zealots krieg outfits was cooler
Are there krieg zealots at all?
They ARE rather zealous
Would judge voice fit one?
None of the DT personalities really fit a Krieger so.
Well they do talk, its more that they arent really jovial.
Muffled as hell I imagine
Well

They have vox operators
tf2 pyro ahh

The dkok trooper screaming to death as they’re being burned to death
Doesn’t count
Their vocal chords were prolly melting lol
Shouldn't it be fully sealed?
I guess if it had shoulder pads I would like it more
Can't take this shit seriously whole it has candles melting on the head
Looks like a bird shat on it
No? They just wear gasmasks.
A lot
Isn't krieg extremely toxic? Wouldn't they need completely sealed outfits?
If thats your line then you are not prepared for how most people look/dress in 40k
The neck is completely exposed
Thye live underground
also its toxic but like-
chemicals usually dont eat your skin
Don't they fight on the surface?
its usually breathing related
Radiation could tho
IT IS
yes but also the scion helmet isn't sealed as well and you're just rawdogging the elements
It is sealed on the mini
and most authors dont care

They should!
Its 40k
we work
to earn the right to lore
to earn the right to die

Also have you considered the zealot might just not be fully sealed because they like it that way
They’re not part of the regiment anymore
Maybe they like having their skin out
The cosmetic sets who are in grendyl’s warband
Aren’t beholden to regimental standards anymore
They can do whatever the fuck they want
Well I guess he isn't on krieg anymore
But then just take the mask off

I hope that set comes to shop
I wanna wear it sometimes and roleplay as a krieg guy with shock maul and laspistol
Maybe they’ve reconfigure it to give stims
Cuz shovel unfunny
Lol
Or just drugs
Skull emoji
I like how drukhari medicine and combat drugs in killteam
When injected into non drukhari just fucking kills them
And would put together a casual look for him
So I have at least some sort of unique look
And don't look like an npc all the time
Its at the end of the day a military uniform
theres no casual
someone call the commissar now!!!!
Well like elite said
Not part of krieg anymore lol
He can dress however

I am gonna make him fancy
And krieg outfit for when I am feeling spicy
Lol
Then they would just wear the inquisition uniform tho
Not krieg
It depends
They just need something that’s protective
And uuuh tox
Tox tho
Yeah prolly

(shower)
Do kriegs shower
Sick
Which is not often I assume
Stuck in a perpetual ww1
Do kriegsmen ever leave krieg?
Serve anywhere else?
Or live a normal life?
They leave in regiments to fight wars
Krieg hasn’t been invaded in recent history at all
99.999999999% of the dkok die outside of krieg
So they just live wher
There?
Then what is the point of the whole gas masks and chemical armor thing when not fighting on krieg
They serve on dangerous planets?
They fight in warzones with those things, it’s military uniform at the end of the day as well
It’s tradition
They’ll dress like that always
Gas mask in a breathable environment is such a waste smh smh
In whatever place they’re fighting yeah
Bet people they serve with find them weird
Well it’s the imperium
Yeah
Don't they live on krieg when not serving
No
Really?
They are just dressed like that, while it is completely safe?
Bruh
They are weirder than I thought
Well in barracks no
I thought they were in a perpetual war on krieg
No
Just dying for the emperor over and over
That was cooler in my head
There’s no recent incidents on krieg
Knowing nothing else, no other planet, just being born and dying on krieg for generations over and over
Nah
Who is on krieg now then?
They’re a guard regiment because they leave
Any kriegsmen?
Training there?
Such a cumbersome outfit when not necessary
Again it’s tradition
It must be a pain to even see through those gas masks
Not really apparently
And that fully chemically reinforced coat must be TOASTY
Gas masks are disgustingly hard to aim with tho
Before they fucking blow up
Aren't gas mask POVs very simplified in game and stuff
When it is accurate it is shit like
Battlefield 1
No like I’m not talking about a video game
It’s a cinematic
In any case it doesn’t really matter
They have snipers
Yeah in cinematics too
Can they even serve at full strength when roasting in those coats lmao
At some point tradition just becomes silly

I guess makes it more reasonable to wear that shit in atoma
And mourningstar
Yes
It’s the imperium
The insane theocratic death cult
Someone said krieg has their own cult too
They have a sub cult of the imperial creed
That might have zealots in it
Cult of sacrifice is just what the ecclisiarchy calls kriegsmen in general tho according to lexicanum
Which says that your very existence is guilty of heresy
And you will redeem yourself with dying for the cause
Why?
Because their ancestors rebelled?
Yes
So they still atone for their ancestors sins...
You are guilty of heresy by existing, fortunately the emperor is merciful and will grant you redemption in death
Yes
Really does go well next to the thing people sometimes associate it with
They call the subcult on krieg the cult of sacrifice
Yes
Dkok are just guardsmen
I suppose that's what the zealot skin is meant to be
With all the seals and the candles
I doubt your average kriegsman has all those, I haven't seen any minis with candles or purity seals
Sleepytime, good krieg night
Despite the 40k meme, don't you disrespect the infantry shovel.
It is an actual multi function tool and is a decent melee in real life.
Yeah you can always beat someone to death with it lol
yup
and they normally have a sharped edge for breaking hard sod, which means they can easily cut throats and cleave skulls
It has more edge than an axe, so actually easier to use compared to the axes.
Or, more realistically, you can very rapidly dig a small hole into which they’ll stumble when they run at you duh
lmao
I’m always having to correct u @arctic talon what kind of an Asian r u
Han Chinese(Taiwan)/Japanese mix
TIL the Angels Pentient were based on a religious event.
A potent combination that should know more about shovel warfare
i would rather use a rock than a trowel to hit people
call it what it is, a trowel
and the edge would just immediately deflect off whatever you're hitting to end up slapping with the flat part
imagine the military was issued large knives wouldn't that be cool
so, after 2 days of playing and finding every secret in every nook and cranny, I have finished playing Doom the Dark Ages
and out of the three titles I've played and ranking them. I'd put this in 3rd.
How human was the Emperor? Considering how kinda' "all knowing" nutjob Big E was, it is waaay too human to not even predict his sons may revolt against him. He really had no clue?
i had a feeling
nobody knows
my 2 cents is he IS AN OLD ONE WAKE UP SHEEPLE
but really no he is unknown
strongest mortal psyker in the galaxy
supposed to be human despite no human in history reaching even a fraction of his power
but you know its not because i hated it or disliked it so much, outside of the obvious being the decrease of Glory kill animations. Besides that, I didn't find anything lacking in Dark Ages, it was satisfactory to me in the end. but when comparing it to the previous installments, there isn't as much content. (I'm not counting the ancient god dlcs that's something different)
If i were to base the design of the demonic forces of hell, it would go to 3 and 2016. 3 because of how limited of the tech at the time with visuals, the rough and unpolished design of the enemy gave its fear factor.
2016 revives that with how gritty and somewhat malicious the demons are.
Doom 2016's Revenant is my favorite in terms of unconsented combination of flesh and machine for an enemy type
In term of visual and art, 2016 is the top for me.
Eternal has a lot of blood and gore, yet feels way less gory.
2016 > efartal and puke age
Also, 2016 weapons and item placement are more grounded and less arcade-ish.
Eternal was more or less, a return to Doom's initial approach and had a more arcade-y vibe to it
but there was more variety in it i'd say
skins, unlocks, power pick ups, secret areas
Dark Age is good. I like the attempt at the new approach instead of doing a copy paste.
that i believe is where its strength comes from. many were skeptical when they decided to change its super advanced technological vibe to a more Medieval/gothic approach, but I really enjoyed it.
like, you are in a much older era even with the weapons you use.
Game play and map design in Eternal is unarguably better. It is just the ambient and environment feel to be different, and is inferior in my opinion.
i like it because of the goofy ass glory kill you can pull on a zombie by just bonking their head into the torso with that shocked look on their faces
also in Dark ages i was intrigued with the different design choice of the night sentinel warriors. They look a lot more like their early concept art then how they looked in 2016 and Eternal
Honestly Doom 2016 probably is my favorite design wise and even horror wise
Like genuinely if there was a DLC for 2016 where they tried another Doom 3 type thing again
It would've worked, some of the scenes in the 2016 UAC are genuinely disturbing
Although occasionally I wonder how do they have this much blood

Aegis Guard is some good sci-fi power armour.
They are strong enough that they needed a kill switch to kill them.
No idea about Dark Ages.
But honestly I think Eternal was
Kind of a step back in terms of story weirdly enough.
Like again, nobody really plays Doom for the story
But Eternal kinda messed things up a lot
Like the existence of Samuel Hayden ks
Weird
Canonically the 2016 multiplayer is actually what the elite guards are capable of
And tbh I unironically think a DLC/sidegame with one as the protagonist would've been interesting
Base game Eternal is still what puts them in number one for me. EVERYTHING is over the top, which, even for a guy who plays for a narrative experience, likes to dabble in that. but i think what weighs them down is The Ancient Gods DLCs
in both story and ost
Tbf for the OST that's partially because of Mick Gordon leaving.
As for story... yeah.
Again, Ancient Gods 1 really makes me wonder how the fuck Samuel Hayden got to this point
story i feel like they were trying to cram in a lot of exposition, especially that twist with Davoth, which, i still don't believe, is the god of that dimension
Story yeah makes sense but
It's still enjoyable it's not the worst
"oh yeah he's god and you're the special guy"
Like okay
On a side note on the previous subject about infantry shovel, only those who never see one or holding one would say that they will bounce off when striking.
I chopped 7.5cm/3inch tree with this.
To be fair it was stated that the divinity machine that gave the slayer his power talks about him
I very much enjoyed Dark Ages' handling of the Night Sentinels as well.
Yeah I think that's why he kinda decided to go eepy at the end.
The divinity kinda just
Disappeared suddenly
Due to God dying
Although I have a trouble believing that mf is truly like
Actually God... Or well ex-God.
I mean that's definitely why
Vegas said it best in his death everything he made will be undo even you
But remember this is still the same guy that went and killed a lot of things in hell without that power
TAG dlc story is not good.
It's middle of the road
The worst but not the best
Eternal bosses suck compared to 2016 and even dark age.
2016 bosses are way more fun.
Yeah.
Also Hayden's... journey is funny to me.
Man went from
Being a Makyr
Possessing a guy that had cancer
Turning into a robot
Getting sliced in half in-between 2016 and Eternal.
Powering spaceship.
Becoming a Makyr again.
Becoming evil.
Disappearing, he doesn't even die
???

many times he is referred to as "The First Being". to me I associate that with a degree of mortality. I view a divine entity as an Omnipotent force. So i still believe davoth, while still a "creator" is still a "created" individual
caught red handed reading my posts
scared of gay
Is it ever explained why he betrayed us.
I mean it made sense if he was the CEO we know. But he's some weird Makyr dude so...
Why?
Again, thank god we don't focus on the story in the doom games because this shit is ass

Btw, Dark age has some fun and "what, why, whatever" moments.
On the contrary, I believe Dark Ages was very strong in terms of storytelling.
Yeah Dark Ages looks fun
I don't know if you guys care about the spoilers.
anyways a tree is not a human limb
Probably has my favorite weapons
It's just the doom weapons but more medieval
And the new ones are great
I think a big player base expected Doom Eternal 2 and therefore dislike Dark Age.
I'm thankful that it is not Eternal 2.
I think it has to do with the the general gameplay
Doom games used to be slow and grounded like the original doom and stuff
And then eternal and 2016 came in
That redefine the doom games into fast pace shooters
Where you move at 500 miles per hour
wtf do you mean slow and grounded
Then other ones also copied the formula like ultra kill
the first dooms were super fast
Eh, Doom is always fast besides from Doom 3.
I mean relatively slower and you don't jump around like a goddamn squirrel
Now i'd like to talk about the OSTs of the Doom Games. As we all know the man behind creating music for doom like he was cutting diamonds, Mick Gordon, still reigns as number one in my book. And when it comes to making a first impression on playing for the first time, it is VERY important for the music to hit that delivery.
and MAN, did Finishing Move Inc hit a home run. https://youtu.be/uq8sf6ZK0xY?si=BGuIYtIk4RdLvWXj

Well is it faster than doom eternal?
The original doom is definitely slower
you're constantly running around to evade projectiles idk what you mean
Yes it's fast but not as fast as eternal
In Doom 1 and Doom 2, you have to fly all over the place to avoid projectiles.
Maybe not as fast as Eternal, which is Eternal strong point. But at least as fast as 2016.
The issue is that those old games have less vertical play.
But let's go back to doom the dark ages, goes back more to the roots
Dare i say, Finishing Move Inc may be a contender for Mick Gordon.
So you feel "slow".
Side dodging his way more prevalent and you can perry
But good luck playing slow in those games.
You are almost always encourage to stay still in fighter
perry the platypus?
Sorry i'm still groggy
I just woke up
But yeah doom the dark ages is supposed to go back to the roots
You're more on the ground and less well crazy movement like
If anything i like that
It is specifically its speed that made it different from games at the era like Nuke Nukem 3D and old Wolfenstein where enemies use hitscan and you just can't afford to play fast like Doom.
I mean to be honest i like it
And if you still want to play fast the speed slider is there
Doom 2016 and Eternal music gives the vibe of being "you are an unstoppable force and they can't do anything about it.". Whereas Dark Ages, a time before Doom Guy's true ascension. it is more like an even battleground with the music. you are at war
Just crack that shit up
if only they didnt fuck over the composer

i sincerely hope they keep this guy for future projects
Dark age is fast as hell even in default settings. Again, it is more rooted with its less vertical gameplay.
Yeah i think people got used to like ultra kill and eternal
dont compare ultrakill to doom man
Eternal TAG1 is the epidemic of vertical game play, and people said that it is too fast sometimes.
Yeah doom and ultrakill aren't very comparable aside from stylistically
ultrakill is still a niche game. it's way too technical for most casuals
one thing i did think was weird was bringing in elements of lovecraftian mythology into the game
I mean it's still a first person shooter like doom movement is prevalent but you know this one is on crack
every fucking game series has to have a lovecraft phase man
Brother, you have the fucking icon of sins since Doom 2.
I'm just saying that since people played eternal and ultra kill like that
They i've just gotten
So used to speed
Ultrakill has shit tons of weapon combos and extreme 3 dimensional movement, as well as zero ammo limitations and infinite healing as opposed to Doom which has almost zero cross weapon interactions, limited ammo, and semi limited healing
That when you take it away from them they just kind of shut down
it's not even close to doom movement
Yeah it's way more faster
But like that's not even my point i'm just comparing how people have gotten so used to the speed of the both games they don't know how to deal with while relatively more tamed in the movement department games
Ultra kill is way more technical
Coin bouncing rail gun coin bouncing
Railgun grenade shooting
but then you just casually dish out one of these bastards when you run that Atlan which, by the way, Titans are presented to be a very intimidating force born in the pits of Hell. but then you just have Doom Slayer showing them these hands and just kept getting abused left and right
i think it's two different game communities. i don't see any particular overlap between ultrakill and doom players
The speed is not about the movement, but the number of action you have to do during a fight.
Otherwise, again, in term of raw speed, 2.5D dooms are fast.
People who get into the as what they call doom inspired game play both of them
first time i'm hearing of that
It used to be doom clones but
People just call it first person shooters now
People mostly play these games for the thrill of it really
Good chunk of games like this in the market
ultrakill is not a doom clone or nukem clone
It's inspired by them
there are many of those games but not ultrakill
Eternal wants you to combo weapons, a lesson they learnt from 2016, you have less ammo so you have more incentive to use utilities like shoulder weapons and melee. The number of actions you have to do make the gameplay faster and not just mere speed.
Yeah that's why
Same for ultra kill and again i'm not comparing them as like both similar and comparing their gameplay loop
Combo their weapons like a fast crackhead
And you know just moving around all over the place
Darktide is also a fast game imo. You have to take care of so many small shit.
People have defined the doom games into their mind into that
Fast weapon swapings and moving around all over the place
Not something like dark ages
Where you are more put to the ground and dodging and parrying is the main focus
funny how Dark ages is the first time i experience a parry system that isn't so jacked
You're still fast mind you but the way you survive and do things that's different that really makes people confused
I share the sentiment that Dark Age is the weakest overall of the soft reboot. Though, it has so many strong points that the other 2 don't have.
I mean each game has a flaw really
No matter how you slice it
true. if they had gone with the same formula with the previous installments, i felt it would be lackluster.
it was a nice change of pace overall
I do like the antagonist had a certain degree of understanding of what the Slayer is capable of...initially
I mean i respect the guy because he actually decided that maybe just maybe fighting him head on is a bad idea
Then we'll you know
He gave the slayer a reason to cave in his head
Really really hard
Serrat was good, he was
oh yeah that part i really enjoyed. you don't see much of his upset nature outside of 1st person perspectives. so by seeing it by his body language and what little of his face is seen through his visor, his whole reason of fighting was reignited. TWICE
Wonder how the dlc is gonna go
To be fair, he only did that after he got the power up and thought that he stopped the Dguy.
But plot armour has to do the plot armour thing.
He was successful on planning around on killing the doomslayer
But you know
He's the doom slayer
The same guy even without god like powers
Like, the dude also understands that killing the Doomguy is not the way, but trapping him.
Dukes it out with hell on the regular
I already knew Ahzrek's brain cell was on cool down and was not using it. You Stop Doom Guy, you give his allies the reason to lose their will to fight. but if you Kill his closest allies. you then give the Slayer a reason, to immediately assert his dominance by dropping and letting the head of his flail hang above the prince. to at which point, he brings it down on him so hard it could've created a 10th circle of hell
I saw so many people laughing when the guy tried to trap him... but like, dude, that's fucking how 2016 started.
He climbed out of hell
trapping him is not going to last long
Trapping the guy is indeed more permanent than killing him.
It's probably the best option though because this guy can just somehow live even without his god like power
You wake up from a fucking tomb in 2016, because that's the better way to contain the guy.
anyone else here laughed out loud when "payment" was required to board the Soul Ship?
Yeah lead
that's like the equivalent of an employee who spins the tablet on the tip option and you just flip em off
2016 armour is the peak, then Dark Age and then Eternal.
No that's the equivalent of doing that but instead of flipping them off
You pull out a glock
Story wise or gameplay?
2016 praetor suit is still the best in design
and then his Dark Age look was metal af
My favorite is still his dark ages
i thought he was called doom fellow
I do like the telescopic blade from Eternal.
It is still a marine after all.
Crayon main diet
his little interactions with the figures are wholesome
Hey under all of that gristle armor and blood
Was still a human at one point
Also, Doom 3 Marine is the same character.
Fough on Mars, then get rescued at the end, but the rescue crashed on Phobos (Doom 1).
I remember that it is mentioned Doom 1 was not the 1st time he and Cyberdemon met each other.
Now think of Cyberdemon, 2016 Baalgar Cyberdemon looked so damn cool.
2016 demons had a lot more intimidation factor with their designs
I too started Dark Ages yesterday, seems like a proper continuation of the series
Nightmare feels a lot easier than in earlier games. Though now you have loads of extra settings to tweak the settings more to your liking which is fucking great, haven't touched them yest but will adjust them today I feel
the designs have been pretty stellar as well so far
Lack of glory kills is a bummer but I believe the way the new game flows is good as well
and you get a taste of them in various ways still
sound mixing is a bit off though, the music is pretty low on default settings
fair review, here's hoping the Campaign DLC will also be satisfactory
Indeed, but u know
They wouldn't use it as their dedicated melee
started it a couple days back, taking a break cause i started seeing the hud when i slept
it's fun
If you have to carry a shovel or any tool that you can use for striking, why would you carry some dedicated melee?
You really think that those renaissance era to present bringing axe to the battle field as dedicated melee vs gun and bayonet? And not for chopping trees to build bridge, which also double as a melee?
Or the sledge hammer instead of actual warhammer?
Hello
👋
Morning
But they do carry trench maces
And yeah their bayonet
So the knife or shock maul would fit better
For a more accurate loadout
I could bring shovel on veteran with hellbore since that has the bayonet already but not for zealot
GW has already made cannon that shovels can and are used as melee weapons, hence them being in game
It is not my point. A soldier can only carry so much, so they have to choice one tool over the other. Like you wrote earlier on why would they use shovel instead of mace. Well, if they need a shovel, they would have to discard mace.
No I am pretty sure they do carry both
And why would I need a shovel in darktide I am not gonna dig a trench in atoma
Right, they are fictional soldiers, they don't feel back pain.
Cause of habits 🤷
Like why would you need a Chain Sword
You're not cutting a tree
Cuz chainsword is an actual combat weapon
Kind of insane that the infantry shovel is back in fashion in Ukraine right now.
A shovel is just... A shovel
Damn it
Yeah I know
It was a thing in battlefield 1 too
But isn't krieg always using shovels 90% a meme
Chain weapons make less sense than using shovels of improvised weapons
The Ukrainian Ground Forces make 145,000 people. These are the most numerous troops of our country. They account the greatest number of Heroes of Ukraine. This is our infantry, army bone, its basis. At the same time the ground forces undeservedly have been being below the cameras, while the other kind of troops — from special forces to the Na...
Honestly quite cool
Having a sword is stupid, because you can only cut grass outside of slashing opponents. Shovel can do so many things at once, and sure as hell getting a reach advantage vs a knife.
I can't find a single mini with a shovel lmao
Everyone has chainswords tho
From sororities to astartes to that one homeless guy in the alley
People fw it
And there are models in the IG that have shovels 🤷
That's the exact same model of shovel in my profile pic... well, I bought it from Russia, who build it in Ukraine during Soviet time.
Lexicanum only mentions the bayonet and the saber for close combat weapons
Does mention entrenching tools but nothing about them being used as weapons prominently
There are several shovels in IG kits, but none are being used by models as a weapon
Time to get converting!
People seem sick of the shovel memes as is, so
If I can gonna make a krieg loadout I would rather use a more accurate melee weapon to not stoke the flames lol
Shovel and other utilities used as melee are grouped as "Close combat weapon" in the rule.
I dislike the Krieg and their shovel meme.
However, when talking of shovel as an actual tool and weapon, it deserves respect as much as a great sword or a Japanese sword.
But when it comes to picking a dedicated melee weapon in darktide for a krieg look
I would rather use a shock maul that looks like a trench club
I much rather have a shovel in game than a Katana at least 💀
Than an axe modded to look like a shovel
Does 40k have katanas
Or samurais
it has every weapon you can think of
Tau might have them, but I can't remember if that was a meme or not
energy weapons melee weapons ballistic weapons
But are there samurai
Eh, that description could be applied to any weapon in game really...
The 1st Inquisitor looked like one iirc
Yasu Nagasena was a Human agent of Malcador the Sigilite during the Horus Heresy, designated as a Seer Hunter.[1a]
Even Psyker ones
No I mean the only shovel I can use on zealot is literally the axe, made into a shovel with customization mod lol
Also Blank one with one of the Noble family
This is straight up a samurai lmao
I never consider playing with mod. Anyhow, the maul does fit zealot more, for the gameplay as well.
I can probably use the same mod to make it look more wood
For a look like this with the laspistol
Blue krieg in shop when
Skull might have multiple gold/auric cosmetics available like last year
I hope it won't have anything I like tho cuz I got no money rn lmao
Maybe an in between would be a cosmetic code that you have to claim
Like they had with some of the tournament related helmets back then
So based
For free?
On the topic of skulls
I am eager for news on Darktide (ofc) and Rogue Trader.
Anything else people are excited/hope to see?
Ye back then the tourney helmets were redeemed via code for free
We already had the rogue trader news tho
I am excited for new game announcements
Only some of it I would suspect, they might be holding even more things for the actual reveal
Granted the biggest things about Arbites are out in the wild
But there would be more, or so I hope
Well the dlc release is like the biggest news
I doubt they wanna spoil much about the actual dlc
But we can assume it will have arbites in story
I'm waiting for the Mechanicus 2 date and further reveals.
VT2 stuff and new games, that's always nice to see
new 40k rts
Might even be 2
was about to say
DoW4 and TW40k
i want a good aos game
yes it does
I'm really not sure CA has enough creative juices in them to reimagine their formula for 40k
they're apparently also working on a Star Wars total war so I recon at least they think they do
Wasn't the SW one somewhat debunked ?
Creative juice I don't think will be a big problem, it's mostly the engine and post-ww1 fighting style that would
yeah, that's what I meant. I'm honestly not sure if it's even possible to marry Total War gameplay and post-ww1 combat. It feels like it's easier to make a completely different game altogether
I think it'll play a lot differently than your normal TW but it'll still be called TW
God I hate blade dancer so much
Have 2 swords, press 1 button, 6 attacks in one grun
Turn
And you still can use normal attacks AND can jump to a tile and attack whoever is there
Who be fuck balanced this archetype
it's not that much more powerful than the other archetypes later on, it just tarts off really strong compared to most
they do
ppl also said this for fantasy stuff like wfb
ye
"they can't pull off magic, single entities and heroes"
and then
they pulled it off
it's CA so if it happens, it won't without a few hitch but I trust they can do it
we will get a trilogy of 40kTW games and once they all are out it'll be great
Tbf magic didn't really require broad changes to the system
see you in 15 years
Like it just work like grenades and such
And the game still work on a formation system
no reason why 40k wouldn't be using formations aswell
Lore ? Like they don't move and fight in squares, they also would be strange without trenches and such...
past total war games already had deployables/fortifications you can dock units to so that wouldn't be hard to add
I've no reason to believe they wouldn't pull it off
Guy's more of a downer than me 😔
a 40k TW would end up like empire
line combat is the only way they could make the battles work imo
it would be a blend of empire and the warhammer fantasy titles
yeah
the city building side would be wild
can't wait to research the technology that lets me construct the building for recycling battle casualties in the region into food 🔥 🔥
and build a SM barracks in every major city to field more space marines than canonically ever existed
the 5 armies full of steam tanks have never been so back
There will be Space Marine casualties not seen since the drop site massacre
about to make the horus heresy casualties look like a joke
Might as well make a game about HH. Majority only cares about space marines anyway
sadly true
don't say that aloud, you'll give the marine haters an aneurysm
Time to lock in and study see y'all in 10 hours
i think the only reason they wouldnt is the simple fact 40k has more factions and there for more dlc potential
True
and we all know CA loves their dlcs
If Doom Dark Age but playing as a SM or Custode, it would makes enough money for GW ceo for generations.
when it comes to money there is no such thing as enough for those in such positions
Its okay to hate space marines 😔
one day people will understand...

I don't hate marines, just how much they overshadow literally everything else in the setting
only problem with space marines is they are overused and overhyped to hell and back 5 ways over
I like the SM, but I don't like most of its fandom.
they could do with less focus and less books imo
but they sale the most minis and thus the feedback loop is in place
Yeah now they are getting attention from gw with multiple mini reveals and some books
After a decent run of not paying attention from them
Marines can be cool but man can you use anything else besides them from time to time
I never cared for SM, like or dislike
I mean, if SM were at least as cool as Stormcast I couldn't complain, but they aren't
Too late
Aneurysm complete
Stormcasts !!! Yayyy
Something about stormcasts don't do it for me, there's bits I like but it's just a bit off for me. Either way, space marines are probably my favourite but they could take some focus being shifted off them, there's a whole galaxy to explore. Or write more books, both work for me
You probably need to read a bit more up on them to be sold into them imo.
At the end of the day they are basically Chaos Warriors but Order™️, and all the good/bad that comes with that package morality wise.
I've only read the lexi tbf
and then played realms of ruin which was pretty mid
Yeah but on the other hand your other choice is the
Aos wiki
Let's just say
That one is rotting
One day I'll sit down and give AoS a proper chance, Dark Harvest was good enough I've decided to do it eventually

and chaos warriors from the mark of chaos trailer were one of my first warhammer loves 🤔
I don't get the marine hype
The setting has ale that is an a constant state of boiling and needs priest to calm it down or containers with ceramic plates so that it doesn't explodw
Oh yeah in occasion fyreslayers add lava on it
Fuckin peak
It's called magmalt
How do u drink boiling beer
F*** it we ball
Yeah this thing is also served in cities of sigmar
Priests do physics now damn
So uhh
Only for the most sigma(r) alcoholics
Don't think it was constantly boiling tho
mulled wine every christmas, worst time of my life
Won't it just evaporate?
No
well the art shows that half the mug is full of foam so that already doesn't look pleasant
You boil it with spices and then let it cool somewhat to the temperature of coffee
looks more like it's frothing than boiling
Isn't that all fictional beer
"Magmalt is stored within special barrels to prevent the brew from exploding. The Fyreslayers themselves store them in barrels that have been marked with runic inscriptions by Zharrgrim priests that leech out some of the brew's excess heat. In the Cities of Sigmar barrels fitted with ceramic plates are used to achieve the same effect, allowing taverns to safely maintain their stock"
It's fuckin funny
You could make a power plant out of that 🤔
the lengths the british will go to just to drink ale
the nefarious albion does nothing sensibly
I know someone who works on the Lexi, they are just understaffed
they ahve too much content too quickly and too little people to buy all the books
I hope fandom doesn't have people wasting time updating it
The city of sigmar lex person literally works on every faction
If so they should go to lexi...
No they just use ai
Lmao
I wanna shish kebab them
I think the names just irk me for AoS as well, it's a nothingburger gripe but it keeps tickling that part of my brain that doesn't like it
same thing as dnd homebrew does at times
I WILL name my bbeg Gorlak the Destroyer, and you can't do anything about this 😈
i support your decision to do so
Yeah and compared to the fandom wiki
It's still getting updates
Yeah but the part of it not getting updates is a double wami
It surprises me some people do play Incursion games (1000 pts - in the UK it seems 2000 pts is the norm)
It surprises me more that GW actually bothered to update the rules for it
I more often see 1500/1750 then 1000, 2k most common though
Which is still incursion RAW
I'm currently building the Nighthaunt Spearhead
Whoever decided to put Spirit Hosts in this thing needs to be shot
It took me 3 hours to build these 3 models
That's longer than it took to build the other 30 models in the box
Busting makes them feel good I guess
Genuinly putting these into a box which is marketed to beginners is sadistic
It's like playing Jenga, except all the pieces actively hate you
Oh dear I was being dumb dumb then.
Still an update to a rule of two instead of a rule of three (thus also implying only 4 battleline units at most) is a big shakeup even for 2k points
Really cutting down on the spam tactics on GW side
Standard operating procedure for GW
Anyone here played the skalgrim mod for BFG2?
I’m so sorry for you
Just to build?!
Not even paint?!
Holy shit.
It feels like it will break if I look at it wrong
Certified nighthaunts moment
night haunt moment
Now imagine packing that to send it cross country
What box was it?
Wiay are they in the spearhead
Yep
They are
The spearhead really has the worst units in the entire army-
It’s still an amazing way to start the army
I know people who bought it like 3 times
I will not be doing that
Very fair
Never want to build another Spirit Host again
Dunno if I'd buy more Nighthaunt in general, only got the Spearhead because my local store was doing a buy 2 get one free offer on all AoS, so me and two friends got a Spearhead each and split the cost
If I was to expand them though, I'd probably get the Craven King, Craventhrone guard and some Bladegheists
Once I am more stable I wanna build a krieg army
Ooo, well points per dollar nighthaunt is the cheapest army in the game. have you seen the scourge of Ghyran stuff for NH?
