Brother I am pinned here.
Primarchs count more as siblings since they came from the same coom-pod
Just wondering about if the Geneseed technically counts

Don't they technically have the same surrogate mom and dad as well
Yeah more or less.
Erdogan
And erdagone
So why do space marines always refer to their primarchs as father? Even with the geneseed, which are just organs, they could've been more normal about it
Because they arent normal
That's true!!!
Because genetic nonsense
Like who wouldnt want to call russ daddy that hurt to write
Perturabo isn't mature enough to be a good dad
No, but he can still be a daddy
Pert along with Dorn is so autistic that I am at least 95% sure that they would just both explain in depth how they aren't a dad
And how they aren't looking to adopt and how you're too old anyways
...with how he treats his Gene-Sons I'm pretty sure he'd be a terrible one regardless of which definition
"To make my legion more efficient, I will kill 1/10th of them randomly."
"To make my legion accept the Codex, I will charge into a well guarded fortress and cause massive casualties in both sides."

He's clearly trying
Why do people call close friends brother or sister when they often aren't related
Aside from the powerful psychic link, geneseed are how they reproduce now. Father seems an appropriate term for the genetic blueprint you're made from.
Yeah but you don't get those same folks calling others cousin when they're just friends of those friends (taking this one out from SM2)
Imagine getting an organ transplant from somebody and you immediately call them daddy

Imagine having a son this way
Hes just like his daddy
Also all of you need stamps
40k Mpreg fan fic
I want to do this meme but with Genestealer cultists
Actually can Genestealers impregnate men or only infect

only infect
you don't have sex with a genestealer
well you can have sex with a hybrid
but not an actual purestrain
they lack sex organs
Yeah IK but I thought it'd be some type of like
Alien Xenomorph type of shit
But could one have sex with a genestealer
nah
most you get is a kiss
well
"kiss"
getting a giant fucking needled tongue shoved down your throat
Probably not pure ones since the kiss is how they reproduce.
Hybrids though? Yeah probably
its not the throat tbh
it can be injected anywhere
theres an old artwork where a genestealer tongue-stabs a catachan's stomach
its basically a thin ovipositor for gene-coom
Do animal Genestealer hybrids exist
Why are certain priests referred to as "father"
its described as throat in the newer codexes tbf
Genestealers can infect any organic being.
IK Orks can be infected
Not sure about Eldar though
Im gonna shove someone down your throat in a minute

do your worst
I just assume they go for the most intelligent because it's easier to take over

Oh oh, me me! Pick me!

its not even intelligent
its the most numerous/easy to corrupt
humans are prime for that material
So say
If a Patriarch landed on a dinosaur planet
Would Dinosaur Genestealers be a thing if it managed to infect some
Tau are too strict/careful, Eldar are too tight-knit and their birth cycle is long, Orks just notice the guys who vent, etc
Yes
again we just get GSC humans because tabletop
realistically speaking Genestealers' can infect anything
their job is
land on planet
infect race
make them breed like rabbits
weaken planetary infrastructure for invasion
Now I'm imagining like
An Eldar Exodite fighting against a Genestealer Hybrid T-Rex
Actually
Actually
Genestealer Raptors
Kinda similar to that Primal episode with the zombie Brachiosaurus.
Actually due to Genestealers kinda having a lack of hair, they'd probably look closer to the typical toy dinosaurs
Yk the ones
Tyranids got dinosaurs in one of their inspirational animal motifs so thats not too wrong
the Tau eugenics program stops them from easily fucking lol
We really should have beasts genestealers tbh
Would be fun, even if only from Imperial stock
Maybe Genestealer Grox
Important reading to understand humans:
pretty hot
š
Looks like a less original female chuck tingle
I'm glad to be illiterate
my friend is watching Captain America: Brave New Slop and over the last hour all the messages ive been getting are is how bad the movie is from the theatre

at least he got his ticket for free i guess
who could've guessed this result
ikr
my friend also said uh
this movie had 3-4 reshoots
and over 6 credited writers

off to the bin of movies it goes
I mean
its a free ticket
id go too, he went in mostly because he was bored apparently
i dont blame him too much
I think I'd rather do the plank for 3 hours than go for free

Man, I thought it was only the macho crowd crowing about it not manly enough but if even your friend is saying itās badā¦
Probably a slop of a plot
Yeah pretty much.
It has a bad director, bad ideas, and about every other thing that is the core to the slopness of MCU movies lately.
I legit cannot believe
they advertised it as: "THE MAN BEHIND CLOVERFIELD PARADOX"
like bitch who?
the movie was made for the WOKE crowd as usual but it just sucks
there's a movie where he plays tupac and he has to repeadetly say he's tupac bc he's the least convincing tupac on earth
It is not that, it is just bad.
(I have not seen it and am just saying this for no reason)
Itās a shame how so much bad writing is just being overlooked by claims of (non) Wokeness.
Bad writing is bad writing, regardless of which message it conveysā¦
And having spoiled myself a wee bit already?
Itās a bloody shame they messed it up.
the only "woke" tier shit ive seen so far is saying Sam is just not Steve and will never be because hes BLACK
Also yeah that is the sort of shit i hate the most
Like yes expecting references from movies 17 years ago work is a bit of a stretch, but if done well this really could have given us a nice snapshot of a post original Avengers world.
pandering is only bad when its done like Veilguard imo and i say this as a very pro-queer person
The 4channers have been calling him captain bad word
Yea, agreed
That shit is tough to stomach for queer folks as well
Any time a dev self inserts into a game they should be shot in the head in a public forum
Oh Lord the DIALOGUE.
I have seen snippets x.x
Itās almost like the script writers are Alpha Legionnaires out to troll all sidesā¦
Alo dragon age had such a tone shift from the first two games to the next two that it just sucks
went from grimdark
to bright color palette
^^^^^^^^^^
and bad gameplay
and marvel dialogue
I don't want marvel dialogue
I don't need my characters to be quippy
I need them to be interesting
Darkspawn eating babies and being gore covered monsters and Qunari being basically minotaur wahhabists to everything is bright colored and qunari are not scary anymore
get the fuck outta here
Gaming design becoming corporate and shareholder driven is an actual issue, even without commenting on the content.
If the execs are, for example, somehow convinced gamers liked rice puddingā¦
ā¦every other gameās dialogue created by triple A gaming companies will have their characters parrot ārice puddingā every. Other. Line.
Game devs choose milennial esque memes over riveting gameplay and dialogue because they think it appeals to all audiences
mother fuckers the 14 year olds in the US are vaping and watching gore all day they don't want "he's right behind me isn't he?" they want gun and ball
The other reason why Asian games are making it bigger nowadays.
Like yes ok sure some Asian games still have the dreaded āGatchaā attached and I get that will turn some people off
But the writing isā¦actually solid.
Like, give us gamers a reason to care about what we doing.
JJ Abrams?

Didn't he basically kinda fuck up Cloverfield
Do you.
Do you want to start a joint Star Wars New Trilogy dunking session lol.
By making a bunch of disconnected movies
Tired of that, but I am up for a dunking session on how he kinda mishandled Cloverfield
Like the first movie was pretty good
And then for some reason he decided to just make a bunch of disconnected movies
And then just slapped a cameo and the name on jt
Given his work and what you say, he does sound like the sort of guy who suffers from project sprawl.
Sometimes the writing is ass
I'm going to be honest here
lol
in fact the level of dogshit
can be much higher imo
I think it was written by two people. JJ and a director who's name I forgot because I cannot remember celebrities for shit

And most of the other movies like Paradox were directed by just JJ I think
Yea ok, fair, Asian games can suffer, but that is still barely better than the āhammer in the faceā approach AAA games takeā¦
Also it's Gacha
Talk about bad games, the Saint Row reboot...
Thanks for correcting lol
That shit is unbearable.
As a fan of Genshin Impact and HSR. The writing varies between peak and dogshit 99% of the time
Well also sounds like JJ doesnāt do delegations well lol
Yes I haven't seen the sun in 40000 years due to me liking GI and HSR
Genshin story is mid 99% of the time
Only play Genshin myself, I think the dog shit parts is actually when they rely on the really traditional and over worn anime tropes.
When they do lore and original shit itās actually better.
but its inoffensive
Agreed
Genshin Impact/hj
Are they broke? Gambling addict? :/
I can't play gacha at all.
Genshin Lore and World Quests is better than the Main Story Quests most of the time
Real
We are still waiting for Raiden Shogun to sufferā¦.Consequencesā¦lol
I'd say in terms of ranking of AQ stories personally
Good: Fontaine, Sumeru
Okay: Liyue, Mondstadt, Natlan.
Dogshit: Inazuma
she won't
She is based and warlord pilled
and can therfore do no wrong
She's a variant of Mei, she probably won't
They definitely learned Inazuma lessons for how to portray war for Natlan.

Fair on points about Riaden Shogun not suffering anything lol
That is true. I'm surprised that a civil war didn't show any Death
Like the only people that died in Inazuma AQs is
- An NPC that was a complete dumbass
- Signora
I suspect the devs (perhaps out of timidity/cowardness/CCP censorship) had to hold back on showing deaths back then.
By the time Natlan rolled around, they moved HQ to Singapore, and can get away with -relatively- more.
To be honest, judging by some of the character designs, they probably were originally dark skinned
But the execs probably were like
"Make them whiter"

Itās also the ancient anime genre debate.
Recalling how original Japanese anime doesnāt give two shits about realistic colours at all, and most if not all characters are just biased towards lighter tones.
Tbh it's probably because
Most Japanese are tan at most
So of course they just unconsciously made them whiter
Fuck Iād say Lala Sun (Gundam) is, well, groundbreaking back then, possibly.
Also this.
Also why GI doesn't have muscular women...
Or muscular men
its also just a beauty standards thing for being paler/whiter
For some reason
Makes me wonder why we donāt get her out more often to break the mould.
Dark colored skin is considered not as pretty
Thats just a model thing
they're lazy
ZZZ also have them
Yeah pretty much
all female characters use one template
Varessa is FINALLY going to have a thicc(er) build as a competitive eater.
Ehhh
Official design btw
nah she's thin lol
Line her up against Mualaniā¦
okay yeah
You will see what I mean :p
but they're both thin is my point lol
Ok fair
her being less thin does not make her not thin
something something hag something
But yes it took them THIS LONG to have variation.
ā¦.what
anyways point being everyone being so pale in genshin is genuinely a product of like Asian beauty standards + prolly some racism from somewhere in the chain lol
Probably a combination of unconscious bias, beauty standards, and probably a bit of racism
And the unwritten laws of anime.
Remember when Japanese people complained about a DanDaDan character being coloured blackā¦
Since again, 99% sure that due to the amount of highlights and shit some characters have that they were originally darker skinned
prolly
let me let you in on a secret
well
not a secret
but East Asia
are the true Ranked competitive Racists
I kind of expected that, I am from East Asia XD
Bro Koreans, Chinese, and Japanese barely look different.
There are minor differences but like
It's similar to trying to find the difference between an alligator and a crocodile
East Asians can be absolutely unhinged when we are not careful lol.
My Grandma no longer thinks of my father as subhuman for being ethnically Chinese
great improvement
Yippee?
but he's from Taiwan so he's less bad then if my Mother married someone from Mainland china
I would like to mention
this took over 20 years
My Filipino friend's mom cursed out Chinese people for like an hour straight. Luckily I wasn't there
Sad thing is the three can tell the difference between each other XD
And there is a lot of bad blood between the three.
only traditionally designed anime women can unite them and even then.

Older generation Japanese really drank too much of that Imperial Japan propaganda juiceā¦
I'm gona be honest its really easy for me to see the difference
but like

I'm half Chinese/half japanese
maybe its a familiarity thing lol
my grandpa is fine, aside from the fact he's probably a war criminal whos done horrific things
Bottom of my heart, actually cool mix, even for all the trouble you see.
Korean old people having a seizure rn
my Grandpa on my mothers side is also dead now
American Chinese. Born in America with two Chinese parents
Nope He's Laotian, aintya Mr.Khan
Anyone who participated in a war probably did something this would be considered immoral (nevermind war crimes), so ehā¦not mad. It be how wars are.
I wonder if people living in Argentina feel the same
š
ā¦ah. Well. Still.
Thankfully my family has no link to that place, so no gripe from me.
(From HK so I am not hooked up too badly on the Japanese war crimes juice. Not too badly.)
(My grandparents on both sides were already in HK during WW2 as well)
Luckily my paternal grandma was adopted (one child policy moment) so I don't know shit about my family history
(So they didnāt get it TOO bad.)
Same with my maternal, although she probably wasn't adopted
my family on my Fathers side were part of the Chinese Nationalists
and thats why I'm taiwanese lol
neat
My mom actually went to Japan to go to work. She still knows Japanese and tells me tales of her experience there.
China and Taiwan, the never ending songā¦
For the record, I donāt care if Beijing or Taipei is the actual capital of China or even HK.
(Yes I am one of those āwould like to see China whole but cannot give a shit about partiesā kind of guy)
I mean the worst part is that
ngl at this point Chinese reunification is considered a dead idea in Taiwan
aside from old people
and people who really really really really like the KMT
You're gonna need to download a VPN
Before going to the mainland
Because uh
Everything is fucking blocked
Even tiktok itself is technically blocked there.

Yea, fair, it would be nice but I see why it is a dead idea.
I'm aware
I've visited mainland china before
tbh cultural osmosis already exists between Taiwan/China
Yea they have a local version that is Brainrot freeā¦
I was kinda bored when visiting my grandparents back then because uhhhh
YouTube wasn't allowed. So I couldn't watch fucking Minecraft videos
...if you've seen Chinese memes I can successfully say
No
Ok fair XD
They also have their own version of Twitter
On both counts
It is somehow even more viltrolic than ours
lol
Imagine the worldās surprise when they learn CCP is doing the world Internet a favour by containing shit
lol
Yeah I heard. I don't really care either
well it does work, just not well at all
Yea, people find ways around it 24/7
Like just keep em separate at this point
Who fucking cares, it's been over 50 years

And in all honesty a lot of Chinese law is likeā¦well.
Itās there to be used if needed.
But they only really do anything if you actually start actively challenging shit.
They contained the shit
And then made their own
And it's equally if not as bad
China even has their own wojaks
Pandajaks
Lol
āNot chatting anymore, typing is tiringā
š¤£
Ok this one I actually havenāt seen.
I think it's the face
It goes to show
That even with a cultural separation along with a high physical distance.
We still have the capability to make funny faces
Why did that send 15 minutes later
discord moment
Google Knights Errant
i swore there was 2 knight errant characters
where did he go
and, theres no army rules?
reads lex
oh they are like, more like deathwatch
than grey knights
damn
They are kinda the gay predecessor
In todayās video we have some fun with the 950 JDJ Fat Mac, the most powerful rifle in the world! I hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching!

How big are Bolter Rounds again?
Lemme search it up
.75 for standard
(although they're technically not even bullets)
I think the funniest part about this is that this rifle has a sporting exemption
So if you really wanted to, you can use it for hunting
Hunting Bears ig
@arctic talon you seen the latest invincible episode?
i didnt realize wolverine is kinda a freakazoid
Yeah Iāve seen it
Knights errant are a thing but theyāre terrible and play nothing like grey knights
Damn
Cat moment
Bros just loving his best life
Heās having a good time
I wonder if he got captured just so he could fight some Viltrumites
Makes sense why he had a hard time finding some
they uh, they're not a functional army lol
š
Ah
Is their lore good?
uhhhh
its fine?
This is hilarious
considering no, they are not a full fucking faction(yet)
are they good allies?
BAUSVSBUABDUD
aye better than nothing
genuinely feels like they got kicked to the curb
Magneto is amaizng
I LOVE MAGNETO
Watching X-men 97 is like
āOh this episode is okay but it has a cool cliff hanger, I wonder what the next episode will do-ā
LMAO EXACTLY
Why the fuck is Magneto hot btw
He is like 60 years old but he has the body of a fucking 20something year old
Also his hair
His fucking hair is so glorious. That helmet not only blocks telepathic manipulation but also blocks his beautiful locks of hair from being unleashed onto this Earth
What kinda fucking shampoo and conditioner does he use Jesus christ
Marvel Rivals understood the assignment.
ngl
he and Charles rock their shit
like look at those eyebrows
who does bros eyeliner too
EXTREMELY
I just wish X-Men 97 didn't adapt the arc where Rogue cheats on Gambit with Magneto

Also it's depressing that
Dark Wing apparently went to Mark's 12th birthday party
Which implies that he was a family friend
Kinda paralleling Superman and Batman's genuine friendship
Which makes Omni-Man murdering all of the Guardians even more fucked
I was actually reading one of the comics just now
And he specifically says
The reason he killed them all so fast, was cause he knew if he actually had time to think about what he was doing
He couldnāt do it
Cause they were his genuine friends
LMAO
Oh awesome that black women have one of these girlies authors now
That's what you call successful cultural pollination
Hey fellas what would be more on theme for a larper krieg armor user? A shovel or a dueling sword with skulls?
True equality is when everyone has dogshit smut novels.
Sword, shovel is a meme.
Got it
Thanks
Also what would be a proper weapon for a comissar? I got a shovel rn but I guess it is off theme
Power Sword
And only power sword?
well a bolt pistol
Power Sword or a Chain Sword, almost all depictions have one or the other
sure they can use anything they want but that's what we see the most
Got it got it
Theyāre probably entertaining at least, I mean come on, with titles like that you know itās not taking itself seriously and that can be fun
Sometimes you just want dumb shit for a laugh
depends on rank
shovels, knives, IIRC axes too, are all standard issue weapons to guardsman so basic infantry would be using them
knives probably most commonly though for obvious reasons
officers would get swords
knife obvious reason - to run faster while stabbing air, to get closer to the enemy faster š
an NCO MAYBE could use a dueling sword, they do get all sorts of melee weapons on tabletop but it definitely would seem off given the pose imo
average guardsman first-person
Hellbore with bayonet
And either shovel or sword, take your pick
Bayonets were the meme for ages, I don't actually know why it switched to shovel
I was about to say this is the worst warhammer model ever
But then thereās also
Oh wow
Very good
Yeah idk
I kinda prefer the 40k one
the sculpt is badass but the proportions of the humanoid segments is really weird
also Lotara skipped leg day
I like that he had more human like features back then compared to the current one
It just makes it a bit goofy to me idk
you can tell he is angry because he is red
awful š
Thereās no way thatās a real GW model, looks like someone made it themselves on HeroForge
Its weird because like
the "look" of th model is great
the actual person wearing the armor meanwhile lol
I WANTED TO SAY
THIS LOOKS SO FAKE
I believe it's fine, the painter just put way too much focus on the lips
Itās the hands and face that make it look that way tbh
hands are fine imo
the face is deffo too human
but like its a primarch so not much to exactly say tbh
generic ahh dark souls boss
Mag was talking Lotara
He's transitioning

You don't go from human to typical devilman in a day
There's somethibg about the legs on that model
Zesty ahh
I didnt scroll up enough, i missed lotara
Them angry kneepads
so is their a specific reason angron turned red or just "erm warp magic"
blood god divine blessing
they shouldve turned magnus blue to spite him or something
angry
how do we know the emperor is even real? what if it was all malcador brainwashing everyone
How do we know I wonāt explode you with my mind
because i will keep posting god awful takes
You're takes are so god awful they are an insult to god awful
my takes are simply too based
What if the emperor was actually alpharius
Hes omegon
If yours is the definition of based then a car crash killing five people is the definition of a birthday party
So it was Angron that broke the Warhammer Community page lol
Hey does anyone have pictures of deathwatch scouts
Power sword, chainsword, power fists
but power fists aren't in Darktide
Deathwatch in like Scout armor? no art depictions but there's some minis people have done
Gotcha
I wasnāt sure if DW even had scouts
Not officially in the rules
But by lore they CAN deploy in scout armour if they feel it
Is there any benefit to scout armor with phobos being a thing
Outside of 1st gens not crossing the rubicon yet
Wasnt aware dw had scouts
Since they get already veteran marines
I guess space wolves can wear scout armor so I guess DW can too
Why wouldn't SW have Scouts ?
@arctic talon for all the whining i read online i wasn't expecting to first try denial in dd2, i thought you were stronger big brain thing
In SW, they are veteran marines who āretireā into being something similar to scouts
They also have scouts but they ahve the unique retire thimy
Ngl Denial really fucks people up who donāt think lol
But imo itās pretty reasonable as an intro boss
Scout armor is more silent then Phobos armor
Scout armor has no servos
Itās not power armor despite being āpoweredā
Makes sense, i was curious if the benefits of power armor phobos just heavily outweighed scout armor carapace on protection alone
Yeah thatās fair
But scout armor is pretty much as sneaky as a marine can get while wearing armor
Yeah thats fair
Phobos is sneaky for a brick shithouse
ppl made it seem like first run was impossible without the upgrades
my diagnosis : major skill issue
Yeah no people are just bad lol
The starting party is kind of fucking nuts
You can beat the entire game with them
Its plague doctor, graverobber, highwayman and man at arms right?
All are pretty goated
Yeah
Grobber and MAA both have self sustain, damage and utility
PD has decent heals, DOTs and good damage
HWM makes shit die and has utility
he does yeah
MAA has one yeah
Also you donāt need stress healing imo
Itās fun to go without it
Grobber also has a self stress heal later on
Assuming you hit the shrines you should unlock it early
I usually play characters that generate stress so itās kinda needed for me
Also denial is kinda the tutorial confession
Half distance, fights are toned down, and other changes
Act 2ās boss is also much more interesting mechanically imo
Fights are normal
You just get ordainment less
And no exemplar pre mountain
DD2 is tough for people who arenāt used to the genes
Iām talking about people whoāve played 1
I meant the scripted fights such as exemplar
And for some reason find 2 hard
2 is like much easier to pull apart due to tokens while being less solved imo
Like for example, shrines provide weaker buffs
I love 2ās combat way more
Itās not solved, and itās easier to read due to tokens instead of just fucking math
I really liked it at the time, until I got 2
Go fast, hit hard, stun
Everything boils down to those 3 core tenets
In 1 for better or worse
If I could have 1s gameplay with twoās combat, it would be perfect
Project iron crown
OH WAIT KINGDOMS EXISTS!!!
Kingdoms is pretty much that
Sure buddy
Same, itās better with mods
Black reliquary is the other total overhaul I enjoy
there has been NO news
I mean why would there be
I think itās fine for devs to just not say anything tbh
Because I want it
When they announced it, I kinda figured it was coming soon or was near completion
Well
Itās release date is still TBA
So Iām not sure what gave that impression personally
Hope š¦
So I have had the idea of like a retired custodes/Emperor's Eye disguising himself as like
A gigantic mutant
Kinda thought of him sorta hiding his armor underneath like
Rags or whatever
And adding a bunch of fake limbs (maybe as disguised mechadendrites?) to sell the disguise
Also thought about him being essentially the RE4 weapons merchant.
Because you gotta do something in your free time
"Got a selection of good things on sale stranger!"
You can retire
Itās a thing, itās just rare
People usually die before they get to the age whereās theyāre allowed to retire
Some things are for life and you canāt really āretireā though
I.E marines
Also you kinda need to be in a prestigious position
and 99.9% of the time a noble lol
Or a pure icon of propaganda
i dont remember where i heard this from, but some regiments are disbanded when their campaigns are finished and their people "retire" by settling on whatever world they just conquered/defended
i think by and large, people retire by going higher and higher up the foodchain where they essentially do less and less that matters
like i dont think the Lord Commander Militant actually DOES anything
oh here we are
The Right of Settlement is the reward Imperial Guard Regiments are promised for years of successful service. When the Rights to Settlement are invoked for a regiment, a recently conquered or colonized world is theirs by right. With Rights of Settlement, the commanding officer of the regiment often becomes the new Planetary Governor. It is roughl...
at that point it's de-facto retirement if not literal, since you have next to 0 oversight
yeah
Yes but you need to be prestigious
Although even with that Caveat 99% of the time
They die before they can
Custodes can also retire, but only if they feel like they can't guard the Emperor as effectively as they can.
And it's usually for pointless shit like
"My reaction time is 0.01 Ms slower. I must retire!"

Although tbf, they don't stop working for the Imperium.
Essentially, the become Eyes of the Emperor
Spying on planets, collecting Intel on it's state
And of course... Clearing out any Heresy
Usually Solo
10 foot tall demi-god spying.... trying to blend into the crowd
Its also important to remember this Right of Settlement is also usually treated as a fishhook/bait.
Tbf they usually do this by disguising themselves as mutants or abhumans.
Who are usually that tall
Most regiments will never see their promised settlement planets again unless they are lucky and their services are really needed.
Height variance is surprisingly common in the Imperium
Also
Would you really want to fuck with somebody who's 10 foot tall?
If you want an even funnier thought
Imagine a Custodes trying to imitate an Ogryn
Since that's what one actually fucking did during the blood games
Imagine this eloquent warrior philosopher trying to talk as dumb as possible
"Zug zug" he says as he goes on his way to blow up the golden throne
yeah i'd believe it, hell even the line "extreme demand for Imperial troops in the sector" basically implies that it's never happening
it's 40k, there's ALWAYS an extreme demand
"sure you can retire, just as soon as we're at peace :^)"
Yeah basically.
Most people like legit forget a regiment will get re-deployed and re-deployed until basically everyone in its is dead and has already been replaced by fresh troops.
Theres essentially no end to it which is pretty depressing and fits the bill lol
"requiring a decade of successful service" the criteria is filled with caveats for a bureaucrat to totally fuck over a regiment with
"erm actually the 20-year campaign you fought failed to achieve all objectives so it doesnt count sorry off to the next warfront :^)"
It mostly depends on the circumstances
well im sure if the officer corps is really well-connected they can pull some strings
Tanith didnāt get to use theirs cause they had the unfortunate time of being in the Sabbat Crusades and also were at odds with other regiments
but it seems like the circumstances are designed so High Command can string a regiment along for as long as it wants
Pretty much.
90% of the time its very much probably never gonna happen
unless like the regiment is in high demand
otherwise its "who cares"
Generally speaking during a major crusade it doesnāt seem likely that anyone is gonna be invoking it until itās done
Then you gotta deal with if it will even get accepted.
(which it probably wont lets be honest)
well lmao
if you're TOO good they wouldn't want you to retire anyway
tbh
so they'd bullshit some reason to keep you in
most people did just fucking die in the Macharian crusade
as an example of the whole
"settle what you conquor" thing
The point is to recolonize worlds which got mostly killed
Also that yep lmao
right but there's 1001 ways to resettle a world in 40k, there's never a deficit of people
like theres very much mostly no happy ending for it
unless the regiment dudes are so old
Sometimes its useful
tbh
if a regiment is just very meh
It only ever comes up in the Abnett books anyways mostly
Abnett moment
it DOES happen, there's two actual examples
just the chances of it happening seem incredibly small and almost entirely arbitrary
rather than a guaranteed systemic thing
The rules for it are pretty clear but itās just hard to meet those rules and survive as a regiment, most active duty regiments conquering worlds arenāt living that long
And if they are theyāre probably in a major crusade, plus it depends on who gets the credit
i guarantee you the Departmento Munitorum considers a regiment of soldiers to be significantly more valuable than 2 million bumkins from Cornfieldius V that they can just force to move
Itās not terribly common theyāre conquering new worlds
and the moments when there's actually suddenly no longer a demand in veteran regiments are going to be a matter of lottery-esque luck
considering the setting of 40k
funny thought is that Munitorum clerks probably have absolutely absurd performance measures like "How much ammo did you save in arranging this warfront" or "How many regiments did you assign in a day?"
as per the Tithes show yeah that checks out lol
the clerk really wants his sanguinala bonus, so no retirement for you
the rules can be interpreted in whichever way High Command desires, is the main thing here
I like the civil war thing
in Only War lol
Where the Administratum is like
keeping a civil war going because they get 2x as many tithes
"successful service" can mean anything from not running away to having to complete all assigned objectives; likewise, "extreme demand" can mean anything from a Black Crusade to 'hey we REALLY need this planet trust me'
Im glad such circumstances dont exist IRL

all it takes is one clerk to go "Hm you actually missed assigned objective 25.3c when you failed you remain at fighting capacity after the fact, so it WASN'T a successful service."
Itās political like everything else but the point is the circumstances for it to happen are pretty rare, itās not treated as something which most will achieve, and a lot of regiments arguably wouldnāt want to even, Tanith is a special case where they want to because they donāt have a home to return to so itās a particular goal for them.
Which is why it comes up a lot with them
The way itās brought up itās more something that happens at the end of a major crusade like the Macharian Crusade or Sabbat to reward the regiments, which are very rare events.
right
you really just have to hope your regiment's commander wants to retire as much or more than you do
because he'll definitely start bribing if he wants a right of settlement
Half the idea seems to be youāre recolonizing a world with a pretty badass regiment, which will ideally start a tradition leading to a similarly effective regiment raising from the world eventually, and the new governor and leaders of the world made up of the staff have shown some level of competence.
I think Gaunt mentions when they potentially have a shot at getting the rights to a world that they wouldnāt be setting up shop until after the Sabbat Crusade was over anyways.
"I threw a rock at him!"
no doubt the idea is sound
just like most things in the imperium, the implementation is assuredly fraught with injustice and corruption
I am half convinced that Cain is still alive.
He just faked his death so that he can actually retire in peace
He might be, but I doubt theyāll ever answer it
Heād be extremely old by now if he was
at a certain point i cant help but wonder to what extent age even matters, at least to High Command
eventually the bionics to keep a guardsman alive are going to be much too expensive, but like an officer?
"you've still got a brain innit, get back to work"
300 is roughly the stated age where the rejuv can stop working and itās inconsistent who survives from then
Ad Mech and augmetics tend to last longer but not many people are willing to go that extreme.
Basically until the Rejuvenat stops working
Unless if you're part of the Mechanicus
to a certain extent it would be less what you want and more how much High Command can squeeze usefulness out of you, i'd figure
if your in a position that requires a lot of physical activity sure they might just let you expire
but if you're a tactician or another general staff member, why would they let you?
Not really how it works
Not to mention augmetics which let you survive that long arenāt exactly easy to get
right, all the more reason your average guardsman isn't getting anything
Iām saying for anyone not in the ad mech
but again the aforementioned non-physical jobs are usually quite high-ranking in the Guard as well
Probably but Rejuvenat has a limit of up to 300 like Eternal says.
Also Mechanicus shit is usually considered disturbing even for the wider Imperium
So they probably won't stick your brain into a jar or something
i mean art shows that people are geared to the 9 in random bionic shit all the time
Rejuv treatment is quite expensive already
I didnāt say no one else got bionics
i dont mean in the sense of like
they turn you into the horrific tech-priest freakazoids
but more like failing rejuv treatment doesnt seem like an excuse for getting permission to die if they can still get another few centuries out of you with conventional bionics
Thereās attempts to keep people alive but at a certain point Rejuv just fails and without extensive augmentations youāre not lasting typically
Itās a luck thing
this is more what i mean
And extensive augmentations mean basically being a tech priest
if you're a naval officer or something, for instance, surely they'd just keep you on augmentations for as long as feasible
there's still that point for non-tech priests, yeah
Extensive augmentations are usually only for the Mechanicus.
They're greedy as shit so they usually don't let many meat bags to get closer to the Omnissiah

Even amongst the ad mech living that long isnāt common
are non-mechanicus augmentations really not that effective vs rejuv?
Itās hard to stress how people continuing to live becomes a crap shoot after a certain point regardless
I think it also depends on your brain.
Like you can just
Outright go senile even with the augments
We see Ad Mech living much longer with extensive augmentations
And also dementia and all that shit
my point is more just that it surely isn't up to the individuals themselves
But thatās basically only what they get
Yes and as I said itās not really how it works
There's a reason why many admechs are considered insane even by Imperials.
more if your Imperial organization thinks they can get more value out of you
how does it work then?
And that's because a lot of them are essentially Senile Old Men
They give them rejuv until they die typically
Combined with extreme faith and xenophobia (in both definitions)
Maybe some augmentation but itās basically never to the scale that the ad mech have
People also generally donāt want to die
Rejuv treatment is a privilege
Shocking

Also isn't the main source of Rejuv literally just sucking the life force off of young ppl essentially
oh we already have that IRL
If youāre living that long and serving your whole life shockingly youāre typically not interested in dying
thats Warhammer Crime
Rejuv treatment is basically any nonsense the author makes up
Thereās a lot of different rejuv types
tech, bio-matter, some special plant, etc
so whatever you fancy tbh
its sci-fi mumbo jumbo
Some like that are used for cheaper sales and black market purposes
so it doesnt really matter
I think it usually lasts until your veins literally stop fucking working
ironic, i'd have figured that in 40k, the higher-ups want to die far before they're allowed to with their bodies getting so fucked up from age/battle or whatever
I mean Iām sure some do but we donāt really see that, these people already dedicate their lives to this
If youāre living 300 years already people tend to not suddenly decide theyāre done. And you can just kill yourself
i guess if you're the sort to want to tap out early, they wouldn't give you rejuv anyway
People generally fear death. Even suicidal people do
If you wanted to die itās not a hard thing to arrange
They just fear something else far more
getting Immortal from EP4 flashbacks
"thats the cowards way out"

Well he was literally insane
Also like
Bro just fucking crush your skull it's not that hard
im sure there's plenty of cases where some bureaucrat is literally paralyzed and all he does is write his signature
I blame Mark, dork never called
he was coping because he was nuts

Never visited with grandpa smh
"Just throw yourself at the sun or something" is CRAZY
too much effort to re-notarize everything by letting him die so they just keep him on forced life support
Tbf
Yeah
Like he literally shouted about wanting to die
So like

It would largely depend, a big running gag of the Imperium is if someone outlives their position they just get replaced.
The thing is that at the end of the day nothing is cheaper in the Imperium than human life
Mine is better
no

It might be the only resource that the Imperium have an abundance of

Itās not the only but it has no value
Or very little
Itās like China but worse
in a bureaucracy specific there's still some specific people who are way more important than they have any reason to be, for completely arbitrary reasons
"yeah this guy is the ONLY guy in 500 parsecs that can sign for this form sorry bud"
"Shao Ling takes power. 300 million people die."
Maybe, but as said, people tend to want to not die
i think thats actually a side quest in rogue trader lmao
Like I said itās possible but the imperium itās rare theyāre keeping people alive already
the one where you gotta get Jae's stupid fucking signature
and wait in line for 10 hours
yeah
stupid fucking office clerks
"yeah we keep our SPECIFIC notarizers on opposite sides of the sector. good luck, asshole"
I waited the entire time for that in iconoclast
(This is still only the fifth largest loss of human life in Chinese history)
those are the sorts of people i could see being forcibly kept alive
the worst part is its very realistic lol
If this is what normal bureaucracy is like in the Imperium
Imagine the DMV
"Im here for this thing"
"Go sign that over there first
"Hey im here to sign the thing"
"Yeah but get it from there first"
"Im here to get the thing-"
"Go up there first"

Imagine trying to get something serious like a spaceship
i like how you miss the deadline if you do it
and have to try all over again
I just paid the guy
i waited a second time like a good imperial citizen

The achievement
the achievement
Gay.
though i DID order my army of serfs to drag out the luxury couches
And I thought it was really funny
This is why we leave Jae to die
are you really an Imperial official if you don't wait for 93 days for a stamp?
The worst part is that even if I removed like two digits from every battle. China still consistently had many more deaths than Europe.

No one kills the Chinese like the Chinese
roboute guilliman coming back must've been a bureaucratic nightmare
imagine having to create a whole new designation purely for roboute
people probably got shot
Tbh it sped things up a lot
Tbf the guy quickly uh
Cleaned up some of the corruption
The bigger issue was the 13th BC and Indomitus
no i mean the simple process of having to accommodate for a guy who is essentially Emperor 2
With murder
But he cut a lot of red tape fast
after 10,000 years of not having that
Yes it made things faster unironically
people DEFINITELY got shot and killed
He just ignored a lot of protocol and rules and cut to the chase
It made things faster.
It probably helps that he's like
THE best at managing Bureaucracy compared to the rest of the Imperium
"Sir you need to-"
"shut the fuck up I am the Emperor's son"
"...yes sir"
"YOU WILL BE SILENT."
"Now then, produce this STC fragment before I pass out from the amount of alcohol I have consumed."
"...how much..?"
imagine having to explain that to your manager
hence the shooting-and-killing
points to the literal pile of bottles
Thatās not so hard, Russ figured out how to get sloshed with only tribal level tech very fast
