in HH it's still all based on standard tactical and assault marines so you have a lot more weapon choices for far fewer unit choices

I can understand that. But i think its also a case of appealing to diffitent audiences. Darktide was made for the warhammer people while sm2 was made for people that play games. And that resulted in its representation of space marines being very sort of tame. Imo at least. Like if we ever saw a marine in darktide, i bet the representation would be night and day compared to sm2.
