Now think of a marine leader whose fought in countless campaigns, saved dozens of worlds and billions or more lives, was part of the forest Tyrannic war and was a key figure in figuring out how to fight Tyranids, served in the deathwatch and is now at the highest level in one of the most famous chapters as a figure whose role is largely to be charismatic and inspiring, as well as deal with political issues.

All they had to do was to transform their bodies into metal

well actually my ork is both a mek boy and a pain boy, let's just say he developed a specialized drug that would halt the spore spread process for a limited amount of time
Taking the drug when he is going on an expedition with the group but let his spore do the usual thing they do when he's on ship
