bruh they worship them as angles
saying a space marine has a human name is prolly a crim
Not really
Lol
You’re the wrong one but sure
There are a few named angels irl, and saying their names isn't a blasphemy as far as I know in catholicism, so why should saying an astarte's name be one
it isnt a crime
Too late, we saw it
Maggie stress +5
And we’re all judging and laughing
Meltdown
Fr

If you care I got Proxy doll so we win these
christianity isnt the same as the ecclesiarchy
Regular people believe space Marines are on par with mythical creatures. The vast majority never even see one, so someone who knows the name of one would be a rarity. More likely held in high regard than punished.
Ecclesiarchy is literally based on catholic/christian stuff
the books literally have fucking venerated saints, space marine champions and other heroes in churches on specific planets and spread as legends among other stuff within the common people as well as other institutions

its literally christian imagery lol
no

christians dont treat angels like people in warhammer treat angels
They literally have
lmao
"Oh this king of ours is chosen by god himself and is above us and is an angelic figure"
this has happened
ma'am have you been to a church?
i went to an actual catholic school
Maybe a little more reverence, but I wouldn't say that someone would get shot after saying a space marines name lmao
Like, i dont care what the point is
its christian/catholic inspired
its the entire aesthetic of the imperium lol
"gothic architure is christian now"
and imperial preachers literally treat Marine figures as heroes and angels in most in-universe lore
nature of Villard's sketch reflects Gothic architects' goal to create “testimonials of this high epoch of medieval Christianity” and represent Christianity in physical structures. In the Gothic 12 time period, designers and architects were able to personally contribute to the creation of a Christian style.
this is like saying
"Islamic people didnt invent mosques"
lol
Gothic architecture is Christian though isn- oh you already got that.
im getting my religion explained to me
No you arent
The fuck lol
honestly, can the actual space marine fan take over
im too de-caffeinated to deal with this 💀
I'm also confused as to what the actual argument is here.
Well aside from the church/christian arguments (even tho the Ecclesiarchy is indeed founded on those aesthetics); Space Marines aren't unknown myths.
Ortan Cassius is a part of the Ultramarines who are a part of a HUGE empire
people are very well versed with them and its not unbelievable to know of their existence and heroic figrues
they literally build statues to these people as said above, and tell of their tales as angelic warriors yada yada
Id understand the point if it was like some actual obscure information
i think something about how real naming space marines is cause for death
Nah its whats said above
idk why people always ask the same question "How do they know this"
You are an Inquisitorial kill-team onboard a rogue trader ship
people gossip
people talk
🗣️📢
There's probably a large library of religious texts and others
I mentioned my thoughts on that above. Knowing a space marine by name would be pretty rare, but not illegal.
I have arrived where I am needed most
my minor in college was religious studies
I shall clear everything up
oh NOOOO
bless u siggy
Do it to em
Apparently gothic architecture isnt christian
Give Sigglesworth the rundown
and so isnt the Ecclesiarchy
neither catholic or christian
idk what that even means but hey
guy apparently went to a catholic school so
I believe that the contention was around how much 40k religion matched up with Christianity
It started with "how does the zealot know who this famous ultramarine chaplain is"
then snowballed to that yeah
Well the word "gothic" means "barbarian" and it originated in 100% Christian areas, it's directly associated with Christianity but I'd say it's more Western European
Clearly thats fake news

but yeah pretty much
I wouldn't say "match up" but it obviously draws tons of stuff from religions around the world, primarily the abrahamic ones
I have heard that since literacy was rare, architecture filled in the void of spreading information.
Its more that the guys drawing it also very much just nod and go "yeah looks catholic enough"
it feels like a bit nitpick to me
im more focused on "how can people hear about this famous person" part of the convo though so lol
well that and im jewish so
when i think gothic, my first thought is that of stone gargoyle statues
the Batman games taught me what gargoyles were from an early age 🙏
AND you can hang people from them

So just to add to what others have said, virtually every single first founding chapter master and other key figures in the chapter are gonna be known by a lot of these guys, they’re famous individuals who are used in propaganda.
Cassius in particular has probably written multiple books which someone could read
And he’s one of the oldest Ultramarines around whose a key political and charismatic figure in one of the most famous chapters
Also as others said, Morrow apparently being handed it by Cassius himself would be a story the crew would talk about
^
The Cadian himself literally says: "Is this another Morrow was everywhere stories?"
Its like a telephone game but its not like people just not hear rumors or know basic Imperial lore.
(to some extent)
It’s a story about how Morrow was part of a big thing and also “met a celebrity” basically like we’d say today
They gossip about Morrow constantly
It could be as simple as “Morrow fought with a marine once” and it’s become “Morrow was personally handed that by Cassius himself!”
Yeah the game actively acknowledges that Morrow's stories are just on-ship memes lol
Or maybe he did actually meet Cassius or a Chaplain at least and was given it, fuck if we know
Yep, he actively encourages these stories too so lol
Lugft
Im pretty sure the f is silent
Also to give an idea of how much celebrity these guys would have, think of how rare it is for a marine to visit a world. Now think of how rare it is for a marine to die on a world and how they probably become a patron saint of the world officially or not by doing so. Now think of a marine leader whose fought in countless campaigns, saved dozens of worlds and billions or more lives, was part of the forest Tyrannic war and was a key figure in figuring out how to fight Tyranids, served in the deathwatch and is now at the highest level in one of the most famous chapters as a figure whose role is largely to be charismatic and inspiring, as well as deal with political issues.
I thought the G was silent
Lugged huron
I have lugft and blackheart models, thinking about selling them tbh
Think of how many celebrities you know
So Luft Huron
These are their celebrities
Cassius would be like Robert De Niro or whatever for the Imperium
Infinite & Divine also showcases this really well
Trazyn does something and they think hes a marine
and build statues and tell stories in his honor
like... human beings are just like this lol
Do you think Trazyn keeps certain persons in his "goon stasis"
They’re literally larger than life figures
And a Chaplain like Cassius even more so
Their job is to be awe inspiring even to marines
Yeah and again, people gossip/talk.
especially Inquisitorial agents onboard a rogue trader vessel lol
I barely follow any news yet i hear most world events from people I know/talk to daily
Especially ex convict inquisitorial agents
Yeah that too
Did you hear the news

The New York Jets are going all the way this year
Who are part of a warband which probably leans a bit more radical than most
Yeah and even tho its suppose to be "your character" they pretty much come from very set-in-stone backgrounds and have seen at least a good part of the galaxy to some degree.
Like Loose Cannon literally has fought CSM, Tau, Orks etc
I'm excited for the new darktide update
It’s pretty dope so far
astartesian'd even
Hey, that's OUR word
I also just noticed the objectives for operations
“Ameliorate the explosive charges into position.”
I'm painting a kitbashed tyrannic war veteran tomorrow
They’ve been cool
People are just boring contrarians
If they weren’t the poster boys everyone would jerking them off all the time
Its hard to be the correct one.
LMAO
Can space marines even jork their peanits?
I always liked my blueberries
Well, at least after I escaped the "Ultramarines are so lame, Matt Ward ruined everything" hivemind of the fandom
Ultramarines are very much generic on purpose.
I don’t even like them
But they’re definitely cool
Well at least you didnt say "great"
Arguably their issue is they have too much going on
We definitely should send him death threats
isnt that a great idea
fellow 40k fans

Gamers rise up
Seen that on twitter today, lmao
Yea I also saw that on X today
Calling it X feels wrong
and pretentious
Unfortunately he isn’t woke yet so I can’t
But yeah, blueberries are fun, I painted my first marine as that
Matt woke
💀
I refuse to call it that
I'm a sigma male dilara
a sigma crypto looksmaxer
using X to spread blackpilled incel ideology
I'm just typing buzzwords
if musk continues to deadname his child i'll deadname his shitty website
I will deadname this webiste anyways, x is a stupid ass name
Wait he has multiple children?
Quite a few yeah
Has there ever been the Necron cult in the imperium before?
Yeah we see one in Dead Men Walking
Kinda
humans generally worship anything lol
In infinite and divine
we're kinda stupid
Had a funny encounter
even demigods are kinda stupid coughlorgarcough
(Strange, thin green space marines saved human settlers from the ork!)
That's right, I can't believe I forgot about that.
He stole the window as well.
Also
Triarch Praetorians are the former bodyguards and agents of the Triarch, the ruling council of the Necrontyr. Now, they are Necron rapid-assault infantry equipped with anti-gravitational packs. As of late M41 they have pledged their loyalty to the newly returned Silent King, and seek to unify the Necrons in the face of the Tyranid threat.[3]
Triarch Praetorains (TLDR necron guardians of tombs who dont sleep) sometimes settle on planets of primitive races/humans like literally primitive not insult-related and teach people to worship necrons as overlords
Based
Crons are too often played as genocidal bots
the overlord in dead men walking gives them an ultimatum before killing them all
Necrons are a boring enemy
there I said it
I don't want to see guardsmen plinking soda cans
I want meat and gristle-blood and BONE
Why would Necron want worshipers?
Because they are literally egyptians.
why did they build pyramids
they want their ego stroked lol
Ah, fair
not all necrons are like this obvs but some very much want subjects to rule over among other stuff
It's because GW hates xenos
you WILL have more space marines!
*the Egyptians based off biblical stuff because British
Can't wait for primaris chaos marines
God forbid the 90s gw team actually learns a culture before adding it to their game
That's asking too much
not happening
as funny as it would be
Primaris Abaddon.
and they do exist in lore already anyways
Abbadon is already fucking huge + a new mini
the only change I'd want is a helmet option
tbh
Nobody wears helmets
he's got a rebreather option
but no full helmet
pretty easy to jam a termie head on him though
I'm kidding. There will probably be a chaos version of the primaris upgrade instead.
not really
those already exist
Chosen sorta
there's no need for GW to make Primaris CSM
Then they'll tease an Eldar codex and never deliver
are you just being annoying/shitposting on purpose today 💀
Obviously.
lol
Ah the 8th edition special!
Or 7th
Surprised it took you this long to figure out
Which ever one it was
I want to say 8th edition
Some faction literally ever got a codex in 8th but had rules and I can’t remember what it was
Or was it an 8.5 codex?
Primaris Eldar coming in 11th edition
Pretty sure it was Eldar.
(Not shitposting, I actually think it was Eldar)
Sorta
which I guess you could
The factions who've gone multiple editions without a codex
are Drukhari, sisters of battle and Imperial Guard
I'm not including fucking Squats
they're not real
Nice. Chosen dark Eldar too.
Imperial guard are already perfect
I didn't even realize he had an alt head option
he looks hella weird with it on
I mean
I knew that
but unlike the primarchs I don't think I've seen a single person use that alt head piece
Drachyen (i think) looks sick
No idea how the fuck he picks things up with his clawed hands tho
Seriously imagine him trying to pick up something he dropped
His right hand is occupied holding shit
He literally has to call a serf/servitor just so that they can pick it up

GW trying to use the half face helmet on everything now huh
are orks next

Sometimes you can't fix him.
Most likely a ripper swarm
Apparently kids really are into tyranids
Tbf they are basically purple six legged dinosaur insects. With guns.
The bugs from starship troopers and the Zerg were favorites of mine as a kid
Now, as an adult, I'm solidly in my "humanity first" phase.
Badly
how do standard space marines even fare against a lictor though on the TT, i reckon the lictor should be stronger
i was john helldiver, so i'm probably fucked
but i might take it down with me
Nah, Sunny has the kitchen knife, he's fine
lictors do kinda die like bitches in SM2, but so does everything pretty much
Lictor kills them easily
In lore generally a lictor is more then a match
They’re the coolest bioforms to me
Most of the big nids are pretty underpowered
In Space Marine 2
So the game isn’t dogshit to play lol
Or worse, a lot of broken controllers and mouse and keyboards
Like
Warriors should be way stronger
- gang up on you harder
Zoanthrope and neurothrope are uh

Neurothrope would just instantly kill us by staring at us
If it was lore accurate
Zoanthropes would do way more damage, Ect.
The goal is to make a fun game. Not something 100% lore accurate
I mean whenever I do operations I’m reminded of the Ganking experience from FH when I’m forced to take on five warriors at once, so it can give me a run for my money at times
The way the nids fight ingame as well
Is meant to give you a chance
They don’t all rush you at once
it's like a kungfu movie, lotta false movement to give the impression you're outnumbered but realistically low number of attacks
So satisfying when you got a ton of the little guys in close proximity for them to experience an aneurysm after killing a Warrior Nid
This guy is like a samurai, waiting for the first to strike to take them down
it's funny how inactive they really are for a long period
and this is on ruthless
at like the 10s mark
They're weirdly inactive save for a couple of them
Considering this game, I think it'd be hellish if they all attacked
yea thats what people are saying is this patch introduced a more passive mob
like they will flat out refuse to attack you unless you do something
time to annihilate some nids while listening to pvz soundtrack
The plants vs zombies soundtrack?
yes
Based
aaaaand console people hotmicing in my ears with no option for muting
crossplay, off
personally i think the game was kinda boring lol, so maybe turning more of the large forms into epic boss battles or encounters could've done some good
Think a haruspex would make a good mini boss?
though i feel its more of a level/scenario design issue than an enemy one maybe
it almost plays like a sidescrolling beat them up in a sense, enter mostly empty level, clear the dudes, enter the next screen etc.
there's also no real special equivalents or anything to spice things up and keep you on your feet only elite/boss equivalents
plus you can just outrun most everything so no need to bother
i feel like nids probably have enough goin on to just focus a full campaign on them instead of doing the whole chaos thing again, almost feels like the game forgets about the nids too
and how the chaos forces are able to do anything under the shadow in the warp is a big ???
i suppose additional operations will resolve the whole nid campaign maybe? but like dropping a hive tyrant does not simply stop a splinter fleet
The game in general just gets so many things about Nids wrong for the sake of gameplay too.

peak gaming, can absolutely feel the threat of a carnifex barreling down on you, no other 40k game has ever hit such a high
is this the update
No it’s a bug with the Carnifex that they fixed a little bit
Idk if fully
It got stuck on a lot of stuff
If lore accurate Tyranids was implemented in SM2
If I'm not mistaken don't ripper swarms flee from the marines like environmental animals?
Because clearly a hivemind guided swarm of forearm length bugs with no sense of self preservation and who eat both flesh and metal indiscriminately are going to be scared of big man
Only while you’re using the flamer
Man I really like their models
They feel different enough and look unique for these guys
Bro I cant even play SM2 because of the constant stuttering, at minimum settings
Hah, my Vet dressed in the 21st’s Uniform is gonna have more PTSD putting down her infected buddies.
did anyone notice that they changed some colours around in SM2
since when are you british
I'm an Anglo Canadian I grew up using both the British and American spellings
respect dropped -50 points
Jay did you really just ask someone unwarranted if they are british
now that's certainly a rarity
i know, i shouldn't be asking people such shameful stuff
also the royal family can suck a fat one
respect gained +100
The ammo pack ran out long ago. Her teammates were dead, ripped apart by rotting hands until they were nothing but carrion for the corrupted. Their faces permanently distorted into a rictus grin as they feasted on their food. She wasn't sensitive to the warp. If she was, she would've suffered the fate of their Psyker. Emperor have mercy on their soul. However, an unknown part of herself was screaming in fear. Her very soul cringed at the faces of her former comrades. Screams of help echoed throughout her head, but her ears could only pick up deathly moans.
Her gun produced empty clicks instead of lasers. She switched to melee. A whisper in her head told her that she could join the family. She could join her comrades.
All she needed to do was to accept her new Grandfather.
She screamed in response, out of rage, and wanting quiet in her head. She blindly swiped her weapon towards Ricter. She always told herself that she'd repay him for giving her some of his rations. Her gift back was a blade to the mouth.
It was a hopeless fight. Outnumbered thousands to one.
But the Guard was always used to hopeless and meaningless fights. And she promised herself and to her comrades that no matter what.
She will die fighting.
Lads can smeone explain what are thesw?
infected Moebian 21st
y'know all those dudes with gas masks and lasguns that we fight
that's them
no
Heretics?
that's the 8th ( I think )
hold on lemme check
the 21st are from the water world
and are the loyalist regiment that's helping us
There one of the regiments of the planet
peak

They got infected because of a virus
if you've seen npc guardsmen at the start of missions those are 21st
blue and shit
apparently they usually fight in an ocean planet
...
honestly would an underwater horror game be good for 40k
like you're stuck in a underwater base
yeah they're from the ocean world that is one of the home planet origins
yup
well not really
the 21st are just infected
nurgle does a little bit of trolling
but the imperium considers that if you get infected
you have a lack of faith
some not all of the 21st have been infected
...despite the fact that nurgle can infect tyranids which don't even have enough of a brain to have faith
But ignore that!
I think there is 3 loyal regiments now on planet
tbf the death guard literally spammed so much viruses and shit that it caused the planet itself to melt
the 21st, the one dukane is attached too ( I think that one is different? ) and some steel legion ( this is just speculation from ship dialogue )
so maybe that's a special case
also
hive city management sim when (art by emwattnot)
I should buy frostpunk 2
i should buy frostpunk 1 and 2
artist description for it btw:
"A brief explanation of the completely hypothetical gameplay
Objective:
Keep your dynasty in power WITHOUT running afoul of the almighty Imperial Tithe. The more you build, the bigger the tithe. The bigger the tithe, the more you have to build to meet it. And may The Throne help you if you can't meet what the Imperium's demanding of you.
The ways of achieving this would be as follows:
Expansion of your industrial base, cutting deals with sector merchant guilds, bribery, extortion, framing the other noble families as agents of the ruinous powers, exploiting the populace, conscripting the populace, vassalizing the populace, acquiring tithe exemptions due to astartes recruitment, ecclesiastical tax breaks, creative financial bookeeping to get lower tithe levels etc...
Obstacles to meeting the Tithe:
Rebellion, succession, noble house intrigue, bankruptcy, war, plague, Pirates, Eldar Corsair raids, Inquisitorial requisitions of your resources, finding an abandoned necron tomb, crippling economic punitive sanctions for not meeting the previous tithe, environmental collapse due to over-exploitation and so on...
Like I said, this game will never likely be made but a man can dream..."
How did it take me this long to find this amazing idea?
i haven't played frostpunk but from what i heard it does seem to have similar vibes to a potential hive city sim
The legion that didnt turn traitor
wait can Nugle just blight the bejesus out of Tyranids?
his diseases are immaterial and magical
evolving against a disease that is magical isn't really something the tyranids thought of
I'm not so sure, I mean haven't they consumed daemons before?
they don't
daemons are made of energy
the forms they take that have guts hanging out and stuff that's just for aesthetic
that's why killing a daemon is hard because they just return to the warp
yeah you're right I was just checking it up, I'd just heard 'something' 'somewhere' bout it but clearly that was wrong
Bro i got infected wha
Even if i fight for emperor?
tyranids did develop a fleet that have a stronger shadow of the warp to deal with Daemons but that fleet has to get biomass from other fleets
other than that they mostly avoid them
which fleet was that by the way? Tiamat?
Hive Fleet Kronos
You're a very knowledge ork
basic tyranid knowledge and I am lacking on other areas
I think your too smart to be an ork. I suspect thee.
i speak gothic what you think
Havn't said a single orky thing, made complete sense the entire time. this is poppycock.
btw what would be a really good Ork book to get? Don't think I've read many
well you can try Brutal kunnin
What you think just because he’s an orc means he speaks like a British person with a mouth full of gravel
and Nails.
Tho I imagine an ork would consume both with ease.
Thank you.
yes
imperium moment
by the way these books are the type of books you should just turn off your brain and have fun reading
gotta get immersed in the ork kulture
do not expect any deep narratives with these types of things
I expect heedless wanton violence and aggressive semi-coherent efforts to facilitate said violence.
son't forget reality bending Orc logic
What exactly is a mutant lore wise?
Just like generally any deformed chaos being?
Or is it more specific
a mutated person
in darktide's case through countless experiments and drugs
just lots and lots of drugs
chaos can also induce mutations but non chaos mutants are a thing
as a matter of fact an ogryn is a mutant
It also depends on whose calling who a mutant
Right, so it’s a nurglite human/mutant that’s been experimented on loads?
Cause an extra toe counts in some places
Because I suppose darktide is very drugs focussed lol
yes
Nurgle is all about bio warfare
One of the only things with this game I feel is that the elites tend to look the same a lot of the time
I suppose it’s for gameplay reasons, like enemy recognition
But ‘mutant’ is so broad that it’d be cool to see lots of variation
they are basically zerkers from Necromunda
Pumped full of stims combat drugs and muscle growing formulas
and basically put on enough muscle to give an ogryn a run for his money
Oh nice! I didn’t think they’d have a figure for it
Glorious Drugs
It's not really a darktide mutant figure but you can you know can kitbash one to make it look like one
in darktides case mutant is just a person shoved with so much muscle growing drugs combat stims and other fancy drugs that they become mindless monsters that bulldoze you in whenever they can
if it's just drugs where's the 'mutation' part?
maybe the fact that they look like Spear after drinking the black liquid is a good indication that they mutated beyond human
That doesnt address my question
it's mostly just they mutated because of the constant experimentation on them
like if all their strength n everything we see is drugs n stims, where does the mutation play into it?
You can mutate a variety of ways on this setting
ah, well that is fair
Chaos explosion to certain types of energy
normal genetic degradation?
Being mutilated and rebuilt constantly over and over again and pumped of drugs
Many things
As long as you basically don't resemble a human in a shape you're a mutant
fair fair, I was just wondering if these mutations added to the strength increase in any of these cases
Or exhibit a non human ability
sometimes they don't really help but other are the times they do
Theres def mutants too with less prominent or useful mutations in hive cities and slums
Like having extra eyes on your chest
While in theory there should be mutants of every shape and form...
Dev wise it's much better to have only 1 model
The drugs caused it
Literally
Basically there are many different ways you can become a mutant
Raging from radiation
Chaos and warp bullshit
Simple evolution
To just
...
Being really really unlucky
Basically yes, Jimmy the Mutant can come from two regular parents
How? Why?
No fucking clue
But now they'll probably do a 4th trimester abortion
Is there a lore reason as to why we cant use tau infantry rifles?
cause theres got aim assist and dont bblow up randomly
Using xeno tech is considered heresy
Because we would probably get shot
And committing heresy can get you killed
Or tortured
Or many ways of suffering really
How would we procure them ?
Unless a very radical inquisitor gave them out
when and where in the lore did usingg iit become heretical?
Loooting tiiiiiiime
It's decreed by the imperial truth
Xeno tech is heresy because well it is heresy that's what they said
Tau Spheres are not anywhere close, and using Xeno tech is not a good idea at all
Yeah unless you are like a very very high ranking person you will get obliterated if they saw you using one
We also have no ammo for them
Same thing with Eldar stuff, there is a model of an Inquisitor using one, doesn't mean we could see some for us
Something you have to understand is that
The Imperium isn't reasonable
Or sane
or efficent
If it was, then they wouldn't even be in the situation they're in
yeah these are all thinggs im learning
Also it doesn't help that some Xenos tech are a bit
Sussy
Just ask Fulgrim

But yeah generally, the reason why the Imperium doesn't use Xenos tech on a wide scale is because
Well
They hate those aliens so fucking much that they refuse to use it
However there does exist factions in the Imperium that consider researching Xenos tech
The Crucible Resolviante is an example of this
Also because of the tech priests right?
They're a faction within the Mechanicus that researches "Xenos Machine Spirits"
Since xenos tech is not blessed and maintained by the omnissiah
Yes
Generally in their laws. Xenos tech is considered an abomination and inferior to what humans had in the DAoT
Ohhhhh you know what
yes, some want to keep it for themselves but most see xenos tech as garbage that should be burnt
a wh40k themed pc
Easy
Grab a human corpse
Shove your PC in there
There

can i have yours?
yeah that's the truth
As for whether that's true
DAoT Humanity was actually pretty advanced
Much better than the Tau that's for sure
Necrons and Pre-fall Eldar were/are still better though
Fun fact
The Craftworld Eldar's tech
Is basically the Eldar equivalent to Amish
The Drukhari actually still have access to Pre-fall tech
But some can't be used cause they require Psyker power
And well... they can't exactly use Psyker power without becoming a snack for Slaanesh
And also they're more concerned about enslaving people and making them suffer
And also drugs
worth
on paper shouldnt necrons have conquered bby now?
Sure, so should Tyr, Orks...
The in-universe reason why is simply because
Most of them are asleep
what would wake them up and why are they asleep
fml I still have reading to do
I dont have the time 😭
Iirc the great awakening is happening at the moment but its not fully done yet
Ohhh so they went to sleep to waiit out the c tan
And in the 41st millenium they be tryna make a come back
I think they were waiting for a moment of weakness in the galaxy to come back
I havent read too much on necrons either
To summarize and simplify.
Basically some billions of years ago. The Old Ones existed who were essentially a god-like race and uses the warp. Back then, the warp was calm
Then the Necrontyr existed
Their lives sucked
Every single one of their races develop super cancer and die in like 40 years
Because their sun was super irradiated
how tf diid humans even managge to get a foothold
And to make things worse, they treated each other like shit as well
The emperor with the great crusade united them all
Basically the peasants lived in dirt huts
...when they HAD SPACESHIPS THAT CAN GO FTL
ah so medevil but alien medevil
Anyways I'm gonna go and take a shower, will finish my explanation later
Alright gonna write the summarization then
Basically the Necrontyr fought each other, treated each other like shit, and were generally miserable.
So when they asked the Old Ones for immortality. They basically said
"What the fuck? No."
And then so they started a war. Partially started because the Silent King wanted the Necrontyr to stop fighting each other. And partially because of jealousy.
Unfortunately, as it turns out, fighting beings who literally live in another dimension is hard. So they didn't do shit to the Old Ones.
To oversimplify what happened next, they made a deal with the C'Tan. The C'Tan offered unity, strength, and the ability to not suffer super cancer.
All they had to do was to transform their bodies into metal
Biotransferrance.
Unfortunately as it turns out, the C'Tan didn't mention that they'd also EAT THEIR SOULS.
Basically, the higher ranking Necrons got to keep their consciousness. With varying degrees the higher ranking they are.
But in general, only the high ranking leaders got their full consciousness. The common soldiers basically are just robots
Now the Necrons, the C'Tan waged war against the Old Ones using their new robot army. With the Old Ones creating species as a response.
The most important ones being the Eldar and the Krorks.
The C'Tan did manage to murder all the Old Ones. However in the middle of that victory. The Silent King turned upon their C'Tan Masters
Shattering most of them into shards and imprisoning them to use as tools
How tf diid they beat gods
and are any of the old ones alive?
I gotta sleep
be up soon
However, weakened by the combination of the War in Heaven and defeating their masters. Along with the Eldar and Krorks still existing. They decided to go into their tombs and sleep. Waiting for the days where they can once again take control of the Galaxy.
However it turns out sleeping for millions of years can cause issues. And even their hyper advanced has problems being maintained after MILLIONS of years. Along with natural cosmic phenomenon and the Eldar destroying any Tomb Worlds they can find.
Which is why most of them are asleep
Not that we know, none have been active as far as we know
The C'Tan are different from the Chaos Gods and the Old Ones due to being mostly physical. So enough physical force can beat them.
Most of them got shattered into shards and imprisoned in tesseracts.
One did FULLY die...
And in their dying breath, decided to curse the Necrons with a virus that made them worship the dead God. And also began flaying people and wearing their skin.
Shooting em a lot.
hm, makes sense
ikr
honestly what a based approach
when in doubt, fire at it
the 40k special
When you have enough ammunition you can even erase a planet is what i say
1 is indeed fully dead
Get flayed, idiot
brought guns to a fight with the divines and actually won 😎
I find it funny that the God specifically cursed a Necron leader
To be THE ONLY ONE immune to the virus
So he has to deal with leading a bunch of bloodthirsty skin wearing maniacs
While also being the only person who doesn't want to do the shit that they do
That's not the one that killed the C'tan even
In one of the mourningstar voice lines, Morrow seems a little scared of Commissar Dukane. Why? He is a part of an inquisitorial retinue, she can't just execute him, right?
It's more respect
He was in armageddon
So he is an experienced soldier
And if he was in the second and third war of armageddon one of the most respected heroes there was commissar Yarrick
We exist outside the normal command structure but she still has authority and Morrow is mostly subservient to it due to being an ex-Guard himself and just out of respect
It also just makes his job easier, no need to antagonise her over rank and other stuff.
what time on armageddon was he on again the second one or the third one
and even the first one but i don't think he's was there
Second War iirc
If that is the case one of the legendary figures of armageddon was also a commissar
Old bale eye
i made lore
dreadnought lore
but just a query
do the imperial fists have dreadnoughts?
every single space marine chapter can have dreadnaughts
yep
ok
Dreadnoughts are massive war-machines piloted by an honoured Space Marine hero whose body has been ravaged in battle. Dreadnoughts are also known as the Old Ones in the Space Marines Chapters.[15]
who is vulkan he'stan?
sadly not black so it dont work
Vulkan He'stan is the current Forgefather of the Salamanders.[1]
Again. READ.
i dont wannnnnnnnnnnaaaaaaa
weakling

that entire page will literally take like 2m to read max and answer all your questions

Reading? How could you?
ikr, dilara pushing such horrid practices onto us

so whos dukane
ive recieved multipe death threats and shell send more if i dont start reading warhammer 40k books in the next 24 hours
Good
i kinda like it ngl
Commissar assigned over the 52nd Moebian regiment on Atoma
thats kinda it, shes just here to see what we are doing lol
i hope she sends more ☺️

I like how Morrow knows people back chat against him, so he had to warn everyone not do it to Dukane or you won't even see the next sunrise
But speaking of Dukane, i love how she wears the new Commissar outfit we've been seing in miniatures and in the tithes
dont we have the hat in the game as a cosmetic?
Aye we do, but the one in the game is the older style of commissar cap i believe
The peak of the cap is higher, while that one has a flatter peak
I love how Dukane is just ordering around an Inquisitor's assets
I hope we'll get more missions with her as the mission vox command
Its a mix of that + Severina Raine's model
the metal chestplate is a dead giveaway and im autistic af for these things
Yeah you can see touches of her design all over Dukane
So that's her name?
Yep
What's her story?
even has her own mini
Starts in a short story, Captain who leads the unit she's attached to refuses the order to lead his unit into a suicidal attack, so she executes him and takes command
Who is Dukane, anyway?
Progena is proud
Then she has her own novel Honourbound, which continues her story with the Antari Rifles as they fight against Chaos
Is she a trigger happy commissar or an actual competent commander?
@paper haven
More ruthless than Gaunt would be, but she's not a nutjob
Fair
Who's Gaunt?
gaunt deez
Gaunt from Gaunt's Ghosts
Oh
Colonel Commissar Ibram Gaunt
Tanith First?
Of the Tanith First and Only
He's what a lot of people think of when talking about Commissars taking control
But he's a bit of a soft touch Commissar at times tbh
Whereas Raine has a scene where she summarily executes a Guardsman for surviving a fight and not having fired a single shot.
Yikes
he used suicide bombers
Huh.. that's pretty tame in 40k standards
you dont see it that often even in penal legions
Its mostly because uh
suicide bombers are kinda poor taste
and too close to real life
GW wants to avoid it lol
The Imperium would absolutely use them
but its the same with why you dont usually see guardsmen training child soldiers
Yeah but not at the front page
Bruh
enters darktide's tutorial's poxburster
The rest of his squad got wiped out and he didn't shoot once, so the thought is either he's a coward who can't be trusted to fight and protect his fellow soldiers or he had sympathy for the enemy.
Either way BLAM
Darktide's poxburster is basically a zombie so it gets a pass? maybe?
I mean its basically a half-dead person
Yarrick is a massive badass
they just strap bombs to it and tell it to go explode
poxwalkers are barely sentient
Could've survived if he just fired his Lasgun at the enemy's general direction
I suppose
you get scared when you got a live firearm in your hands and freeze up too depending on the perosn
its why "combat high" is also a thing, he just wasnt thinking straight
And that made him pay the price
It's like the scene in Saving Private Ryan, where the guy can hear his friends need help but just can't move
You think if that Guardsman that Raine executed was allowed to live, he would finally be able to think straight and kill like Upham eventually did?
I mean its hard to say, you can teach anyone to kill someone, it just takes time and effort
It works most of the time
Going back to this image.. what's that creepy looking Guardsman behind her? Is that not a Guardsman?
Assassin?
Ah, makes sense
'Cus the helmet reminds me of an Imperial Assassin unit
That one that's basically a living time bomb
dils do you still have that veteran stub revolver meme
Ah good one that
Scout marines are generally gonna have a lot of advantages
But it depends on how far along they are
Oh they're called Scout Marines, my bad
They have better gear and are physically much stronger and better
On average scouts are gonna be better, but it depends as always
The farther in they get the more organs they have implanted, the bigger they are and the more they’ve learned. Some like the Blood Angels get all the organs immediately too except the carapace.
Deserved
Stub revolver is the best
It's a 5 shot brain burst
I bet I could burst your brain with one shot
||I wish||
Man these are so cool
Also generally they’ll deploy with a full battle brother who also wears the scout armor and keeps them in line
The most famous example being Scout Sgt Tellion whose one of the oldest Ultramarines but prefers to stay in his training role
Wait, you can do that?
You can just... stay as a neophyte?
He’s not a neophyte
He’s a full marine in scout armor
Zartath my beloved
Sorry
But yeah senior marines will often wear scout armor and lead the scouts
Largely to ensure they stay safe enough and also to teach them
They’re also typically deployed with a large group of the full battle brothers so they’re not alone and have support if needed
Now im imagining a grizzled war veteran of 300 years old helping the rookie Marines get started
do scout marines handle assassinations for marines?
Sometimes
give him a giant knife and a sniper rifle and tell them to kill this guy
Depends, but they often have overwatch sniper roles and obviously scouting and recon
Tellion in this case is closer to 600 years old I believe
Jesus
These days Vanguard units, specifically Eliminators tend to fill that role for the more dangerous operations
oh shit
Reivers and Infiltrators also will do that kinda thing
They’re all part of the Vanguard group
Reivers are more fast attack/terror troops while Infiltrators as you’d imagine are there to sneak behind lines and fuck with stuff
God, i love that as Warhammer 40k becomes more modern so too does it's depiction of the Imperium's equipment
Becoming more detailed than how blocky it used to be
The Vanguard and Sniper from SM2 both take different things from the vanguard company
It's a Dusk Hound, a Scion squad from the 11th Antari Rifles. All the squads in the Regiment are named after myths and folklore from their homeworld and there's a lot of symbology and culture around it.
Worth noting too the Infiltrators and Reivers are generally the same marines just using different equipment for different missions
I see
Where does Kayex comes from? I don't remember seeing him before.
Secrets of the machine god patch?
He sounds like he's spent time in a obscura den
He's great
Admech truly are the best
I just realized the irony of when Kayex is basically cursing the Moebian 6th by saying he hopes their souls corrode and shit
That's already going to happen under Nurgle anyway
Looking forward to when they’re gonna add the chapter symbols to the right side so it’s easier to do more chapters but
I’m pretty happy with it still
Is this mod, or actually in game?
It’s the game
assault looking like a necromunda enforcer
Well I know what drip I want to roll in when I play with homies now, thanks.
what is the shield bulwark uses again
It’s not impossible that he’s from there
Stormshield
it's basically a power shield that mostly negates attacks right
Yeah it’s got a shield generator built in
Can take a lot of punishment, there’s one case of a marine surviving a Riptides missile barrage barely because of his shield
It shorts it out but he does survive
damn
it must be the most durable type of infantry shield the imperium can use then?
He was also in terminator armor tbf and he got launched and was out of the fight for a bit
They’re very rare relics yeah
Marines and Inquisitors are the primary users
Are they one of those imperium things where only a few people can have them because they are no longer made or it's just that making them takes a lot of time because it's a long held secret
Combat shields are much more common
Basically smaller versions with slightly lesser power fields
Little of both, basically all power field or conversion field tech is super rare and hard to make or not able to be made anymore
Chaplains and space marine captains are the primary beneficiaries of those, which kinda goes into how rare it is.
It wouldn't be out of place for a rogue trader to say give it to a marine he likes right
when he just has one of his inventory for some reason
If a RT had a marine under his retinue for whatever reason he would be a very good choice for that yeah
Especially since most people can’t even properly wield them
When you said inquisitors use them I pictured them using power armor because of how heavy these things look
They’re super heavy and the field breaking isn’t a fun experience if you’re not strong enough or armored enough
Yeah that’s generally what it is
There is smaller versions made too but they’re still super unwieldy and heavy
oh yeah eternal how did you guys deal with the ork spore problem in your rogue trader games
because having gretchen's popping out of the ship isn't fun
Uh in game it’s how your Ork is generating grots
Or Gretchin or whatever it is
Also there’s rules for your Ork having a small tribe potentially too
Yeah but like say they don't want to accidentally contaminate a planet how do they deal with the spores
Huge benefits in fact to having more and more Orks
coming off the ork
Generally we just assume there’s not enough of it
Or maybe the RT has the area cleaned
Idk if there’s a set point where spores become an issue but it is how they explain the Gretchin materializing basically
When you get more of the perk or some of yours die
well actually my ork is both a mek boy and a pain boy, let's just say he developed a specialized drug that would halt the spore spread process for a limited amount of time
Taking the drug when he is going on an expedition with the group but let his spore do the usual thing they do when he's on ship
I actually genuinely thought Orks only spread spores on death
Rigged a gun on top my dude and had a Gretchin shooting
They constantly shed it
Their death makes it worse but yeah
has there ever been some gruesome story of a human having ork spores land on them and then an ork exploding out of their body
They’re always giving them off
yeah the death is just an explosion of spores
But narratively I don't want my work to accidentally just spawn savage orks in the planet so
Not that I recall
let's just say he developed a drug that stops him from spawning spores for a limited amount of time
Theoretically possible for an Ork chest burster, but no story written at all
(Spores in lungs…)
In general I’d assume one Ork and a few Gretchin aren’t giving off enough to matter
imagine the human fusing into the ork body and having to suffer through being part of an ork for the remainder of their short pathetic life
yeah but let's just say my rogue trader doesn't like taking chances
Generally we just handwaved it for obvious reasons
And so he developed the drug to stop himself from just accidentally spawning an entire army
even if it's no fun
That is more likely to happen with an Ork Teleporta accident.
Yeah that definitely works
My Mekboy was in the engine room and I ended up doing all these wacky modifications to the ship and engines, and teleporter.
I also eventually got a personal teleporter
i'm surprised the tech priest didn't kill you
For tech heresy
I was the tech priest basically
ork tech priest is so cursed yet awesome
The inquisitor watching as an ork mek boy turns the ship's thrusters into a laser cannon
So is there actually a 40K show coming ever from Amazon?
Our backstory reason was the RT needed something fixed and was pretty desperate and then it worked surprisingly well so the relationship stuck
🖕
